Leave in conditioner for dry damaged hair is a product that is applied to the hair after shampooing and conditioning in order to add extra moisture and protection. It is usually a light cream or lotion that is applied from the mid-lengths to the ends of the hair.
Leave in conditioners can be used on both wet and dry hair, but they are most effective when used on damp hair.
20 Best Leave In Conditioner For Dry Damaged Hair
1. It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In Conditioner – 10 fl oz bottle
The It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product is an ideal solution for smoothing hair, eliminating frizz, restoring shine, and enhancing natural body. It is an excellent nourishing treatment that can be used alone and/or as a restorative styling product that leaves hair soft and bouncy as well.
Made with numerous natural ingredients our Miracle Leave-In Product works with all hair types to bring out natural luster and manageability while also making hair stronger and healthier with every use.
I checked to see if Target carried this on their app before going to pick it up off the shelf in-store. I also checked the ingredient list in the app photo, because I haven’t used It’s a 10 in several years, but when I did I loved the way it detangled my long, fine hair, moisturized, and made my hair feel super soft.
I found this on the shelf and assumed it was what Target said was the product–the barcode SKU numbers are even the same. When I went to use it, it seemed to not detangle the same as I remembered, but smelled like the It’s a 10 I had used before.
But when my hair dried, it was frizzy and felt like it was coated in something, like a waxy feeling. It looked awful, too. I tried blow-drying it with my hairdryer that usually leaves my hair silky smooth, but it was dry-looking, felt dry and waxy, and started tangling again.
I washed my hair the next day, tried it again, same issue. Looked on the back of the bottle, and all the “key ingredients” are listed almost towards the end of the ingredient list, which means there is less of a concentration of them in the product.
I checked the online/Target app photo, and realized the product lists were different, even though my Target profile registers I bought this product in-store. I’m returning it and will purchase elsewhere, after checking the labeling.
I really like this stuff, I don’t understand the bad reviews unless they ordered it online and got a counterfeit product. I’ve used the regular leave in and the one with keratin, they’re both good. They make my hair smooth, soft and shiny.
My only complaint is the price. The small bottles are not worth the money. You’re better off buying the big bottle. I mean why pay 16 for the small one when you can get the big one for 27. Also, a little goes a long way.
I wouldn’t spray it in your hair though, it’s too easy to use to much. I spray 3 pumps in my hand and work it through. So it’s good, I like it, although there are comparable leave in’s for way less. L’Oreal and Pantene both have good leave in’s I tried the Not your mothers 10 in one hair perfector because it’s supposed to be a dupe for it’s a 10 and it was awful.
It’s like hair spray in a cream form. Anyway, it’s a 10 is good and worth buying but it is overpriced, when there are cheaper comparable products. I still buy it from time to time if I can afford it.
I have natural 4A hair and I use this when I flat iron my hair. The packaging is very hard to spray. What I have done is I take one of those continuous mist spray bottles and dilute this product with water (maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of the product and the rest water).
This way, I don’t put too much in before I apply a little Blow dry cream. This product makes my hair look super silky and flows after flat ironing. I know this is the result from this leave-in because my hair doesn’t feel as silky and light if I don’t use it.
I really don’t like the sprayer and the bottle is hard to hold. I shouldn’t have to put the product in another bottle to use it. They really need to change the packaging. I also use it straight from the bottle and pour it in my hands when I wear it curly.
I also wish they made a bigger size. Fix this please and keep the product the same!!!.

I have been using this product for years. My father, who just turned 85, is a barber in Mason City, Iowa and still is cutting hair three days a week. My long natural curly hair is unmanageable without this product.
My father told me today he can no longer get this product. I am very disappointed this product is discontinued. I have tried different products on the market and nothing else has worked.
My hair stylist always used IntraKera and we were so disappointed to see that it was discontinued. I was happy to see that I can purchase it on eBay. Great product – not sticky or heavy. A light conditioner.
If you truly have damaged hair I don’t think this is the product. Great for everyday use.
Moroccanoil All in One Leave-In Conditioner is a multi-tasking product that instantly detangles, hydrates and prepares hair for styling. The weightless, milky formula is suitable for all hair types. This leave-in conditioner by Moroccanoil infuses hair with moisture and protects it against breakage and thermal damage.
Manageability and softness are improved. The nourishing effect of the product lasts up to 72 hours. How to use Moroccanoil All in One Leave-In Conditioner Apply evenly to clean, towel-dried hair. Comb through and style as desired.
Do not rinse. The leave-in conditioner can also be used to refresh second-day hair.
I have mixed white/black, curly hair (texture closer to the white side), so moisturizing is a daily must for my long, curly hair. I love the formula of the product. The product sprays out in a mist, which dispenses a bit more fine than previous leave in conditioners I have used.
Due to that, I have found myself over spraying. I found out once brushing that the spray conditioner actually let out a good amount. However, I have since adjusted – takes a minute to get used to. The bottle itself is not my favorite.
Although very pretty, the push top to spray the product is rather tough to push down with one finger. The top also spins so while attempting to spray the product it twists in a direction that does not spray on the hair.
My hair feels moisturized and soft when using this product. I really like it a lot.
I just bought this product from Sephora to try out. I am a bleach blonde and have been for almost 5 years now and I’ve had some hair dressers in the past really screw with my hair. I also use purple shampoo which is great for color, but not softness.
I do use a great shampoo and conditioner, but my hair still wasn’t soft enough for me. Ever since I went blonde my hair doesn’t get greasy. The longer I go without washing it the dryer it gets. I started using this product and my hair feels like it did before I was a blonde.
It brought such moisture back in my hair that it feels like virgin hair. I am absolutely in love with this product and especially as long as I use bleach then I will be using this everytime I wash my hair.
If you’re bleach blonde I HIGHLY recommend trying this!!.
I liked what it promised, but it doesn’t work very well for me. I have thick hair and it’s quite long right now. My hair takes forever to become damp so I have to wait a while to spray it on. If sprayed while hair is too wet, I think it doesn’t leave your hair as soft or conditioned.
When I do wait for my hair to become damp and then apply, I find it difficult to evenly disperse it throughout my hair. I have to use quite a bit. This does leave my hair looking much better from day 2 onwards compared to when using traditional conditioner.
It feels softer. However, my hair is also still tangled after applying. And I wish it gave more shine. From the smell it seems like a heat protectant. The scent is ok, very much like hair salon smell.
I will keep hunting for a better leave in conditioner.
Aveda Nutriplenish Leave-In Conditioner is an amazing spray that detangles both fine and thick hair while protecting from hot styling tools and UV rays, giving nourishment up to 72 hours. Enriched with Nutriplenish Complex, it provides hair with softness and the proper hydration level.

Technology Enriched with 98% naturally-derived ingredients, such as Pomegranate Seed Oil and Ginger Powder, this great formula revitalizes and nourishes dull and dry hair while protecting from damages caused by hot styling tools (hair dryers, hair straighteners and curling irons).
Aroma Pure-Fume fragrance wraps hair in fresh, spicy flowery notes of Cocoa, certified organic Cardamom and Ginger. How to use For fine to medium hair: spray all over clean and towel-dried lengths and ends.
For thick hair: spray all over clean and towel-dried hair from roots to ends. Do not rinse and blow-dry. Can be applied to dry hair to add extra nourishment.
So firstly, I really enjoy the gel and the cream styler for what they do. I imagine for coarser hair types, they would be perfect for high humidity areas and seasons. my grievances with this leave-in are not related to many other complaints listed in the reviews.
I love the scent, it has a natural fragrance with a blisteringly sweet sharp note; it reminds me of sherbert. I’d describe it as almost like a fruity granola. The texture is okay. The issue is, this product was designed for curly hair (2c – 4c/z) and as someone who sits around 3a/b I don’t know who this is for.
The product is lightweight, but strangely greasy? And i would need like 12 sprays on short to coat it and make sure i don’t have wet frizz; the issue is it still frizzes up and feels dry. To give this some clarity, I’m of south Asian descent so have low density but really thick coarse hair.
I would normally use Camille Rose or Mielle, for some that goes in luxuriously and also has some hold and shine; and whilst the other products in this line can lend towards that -this does nothing. I think this might maybe perform best for people with higher density, fine hair and maybe wavy hair at a push.
I want to start out by saying I’m not totally sure what I expected, spray leave in conditioner. I’ve used many before and typically I only use them when my hair is damp after a shower and then I style either by air drying my hair and straightening it or I blow dry and straighten it.
I found that when I use this product with my hair damp it made my hair kind of stringy and greasy feeling when it dried. It left slightly a gummy residue and I really didn’t like it. The smell was not really anything and when I put product in my hair I typically like it to have some kind of a smell I guess say that’s the girly and me.
To be fair I went ahead and tried it when my hair was dry to to see if that helped. However when I used it dry it made my hair sticky and gummy feeling. My ends are pretty damaged from coloring, heat and wear and tear from wearing it in a messy bun frequently.
I used it as much as I could just to give it a fair shot. My hair actually felt dryer after using it rather then seeing any improvement at all. I gave it three stars because my hair is very damaged also because I don’t often use leave in conditioner any longer so I don’t know if it was just a user error or what but it definitely wasn’t something I will ever buy again.
I’ve used spray leave in conditioners before just not as often as I used to and I never had an issue my hair always felt softer it looks shinier and healthier but with this particular brand and spray it just didn’t compare.
I always want to use a new product and be able to talk about how wonderful it is so it’s hard for me to write negative things. I really didn’t have any expectations and almost rather have had no results rather then the results I got.
I personally will never use the spray again just because like I said it just seem to dry my hair out more than it moisturized or condition it also made it look stringy. I know results may vary per user but these are my opinions and this is what I noticed.
I wish that if anything it would’ve had a pretty smell that would have been at least noticeable so when I used it and left it in my hair it didn’t make my hair kind of smell icky. If it was going to be non-scented and not have a smell I wish it wouldn’t have kind of doubled the smell of the shampoo and conditioner I use because I frequently get comments on how pretty my hair smells slightly weird I know but people are always telling me all your smells so good and we end up finding out is the shampoo and conditioner I must use because it’s my hair usually that holds the smell rather than my perfume lotions anything but when I use this product you couldn’t even smell the pretty from all the other products I use.
I can not live with out this product!!!!!! My 11 year old daughter and I both have super long, thick, somewhat curly hair and my daughters hair especially gets severely knotted!! We’ve cut her hair on several occasions due to the impossible knots she gets!! I can’t even tell you how many hundreds of dollars I’ve spent trying detangling products and conditioners.
Her hair is also prone to getting greasy with product use…. After getting a sample of this in a beauty box we were immediately SOLD!!!! It’s about $40 for a 6. 7 oz bottle and it’s worth every penny!!!! It smells absolutely amazing- cocoa, ginger and cardamom- earthy, spicy and floral.
It smells very natural and it’s not at all overpowering. It’s free of parabens and sulfates- doesn’t leave a sticky feeling or build up of any kind. It knocks knots out like no one’s business!! I use it daily myself and I can’t do my hair with out it.
The brush or comb slides right through the knots and it leaves your hair soft and smelling great!! I recommend to any mom who has kids who squirm and cry when their brushing their hair out! It really makes brushing and styling a child’s hair so much easier and more enjoyable for the child and the parent!!.

I’ve been using John Frieda leave in conditioner now for years!!It was something that I stocked pile because I never liked running out. The scent was very clean smelling, I always get complemented on how good my hair smelled.
Conditioning and detangling it was the best!!My hair always felt full of body never weighed down !!!The stuff was just the awesome!!!Now since you change the formula, my hair feels greasy, it’s far from full , it has zero body!!My hair doesn’t feel healthy it feels dry, and the sent to the new formula is awful!!Please, and I mean that sincerely, go back to the old formula…I’ve been shopping around to find something to replace it and I haven’t had no luck.
Even if you regularly wash and condition your hair, a weekly mask provides more intense moisture and nourishing properties that your strands can greatly benefit from (think: softer, shinier, and stronger locks).
This leave-in one makes the entire process way easier, so you won’t forget or lament taking this extra step. All you have to do is mist the 95% naturally derived formula into damp hair after showering and comb through”no rinsing required.
It contains microencapsulated argan oil that adheres to the surface of your strands to repair damage and strengthen (great if you frequently color your hair or use hot tools) as it hydrates. Hair maintains greater luster and moisture for smoother styles so concerns of brittleness and damage will be a thing of the past.
I don’t know why I was convinced that this product was overhyped- I was even skeptical after application AND while rinsing it out because most products I try that are hyped up never live up to expectations, it also concerned me that it wasn’t CG approved.
I have 3c/4a low porosity hair and it has been looking so lifeless. I chopped a good part of it off after being so frustrated with it thinking I needed to get rid of damage, only to find out that it didn’t fix the problem- in fact it was now even harder to manage because I’d never dealt with my hair being so short.
This brought my curls TO LIFE. RAISED THEM FROM THE GRAVE. Chile when I say buy this, you better buy this. It is SO worth it. It is definitely a strengthening mask and lives up to its claims- so don’t expect a ton of moisture.
This mask put so much elasticity back into my hair after one use that I didn’t even have to apply gel, just used two of my favorite leave ins mixed together for a voluminous but defined twa. I’m definitely looking into other products from this brand now.
I was so excited to try this product, I’ve heard so much hype about it. I have long almost waist length superfine hair. It’s color treated, the ends are dry, and it tangles super easily. I concentrated this on the length of my hair and noticed immediately how thin the formula was.
I had to put on twice as much as I would with a regular conditioner or treatment. Putting it on felt like water, there was no smoothing and it didn’t feel like it penetrated. I left it on for 10 minutes and went to run my fingers through my hair to detangle it a little bit and my fingers got completely stuck.
There is absolutely no detangling properties in this, nor smoothing properties. After I rinsed it out my hair felt almost brittle and completely unconditioned. I had to go back in with my regular conditioner to make my hair feel normal again.
I don’t understand the hype, maybe this is more for thick hair? Truly disappointing experience because not only did this do nothing- I spent money for this to do nothing.
This and olaplex literally saved my hair. I got married two weeks ago and my hair was wrecked. The stylist who colored it slightly over bleached it the week before – no big deal, just made it a little drier.
THEN we went swimming at the Rehearsal dinner, and my dad didn’t mention he had shocked to pool. The next day my hair was straw. I had breakage, couldn’t get a brush through it, it looked like an absolute rats nest.
My husband had to lend his beard oil to myself and several bridesmaids just to untangle massive knots, and several of us ended up cutting them out. Add in heat damage from the styling for the wedding, and then sun/sand/saltwater from the beach and I thought I was going to have to completely chop it off.
Which would have sucked bc I’ve been growing it out for 4 years now. Other masks did literally nothing. I picked this up on a whim as a last ditch effort and OH MY GOD. This, plus olaplex 3 & 8, and after 3 uses my hair is almost completely back to normal.
It’s soft and shiny and healthy again. I can get away with an inch trim instead of a bob. I’m obsessed!.

Loma Leave-In Conditioner Detangle Texture And Volume 8. 45oz Loma Conditioners contain highly effective reconstructive ingredients, rich in amino acids to repair the hair and maintain moisture balance.
Instant detangling spray with sea salt to add texture and volume. For all hair types especially fine and limp. Pear Aromatherapy. Made in the USA.
I bought this after having the hairdresser use it. The stuff from the hairdresser has an amazing pear scent that lasts for days. This does NOT. It smells like maybe it smelled alright at some point but it is just so old that the smell is gone.
It is really my own fault for purchasing the light green colored bottle when the stuff the hairdresser used was in a darker green container. Im assuming that this is a very old version of a great product which has just outlasted its shelf life.
It still works as a conditioner/detangling spray but dont expect an amazing scent. It has a not completely pleasant plastic kind of smell. So I would recommend the Loma conditioning spray but just not this outdated version in the light green bottle.
I like this leave in conditioner spray from Loma. I have the one in the blue bottle. I like the ingredients of this brand and it is natural, gluten free and cruelty free. The spray works great for detangling hair and smells wonderful and fruity.
The only downside is that the nozzle for the spray bottle doesn’t always work the greatest and is not always a consistent spray. Other than that, love this product.
This is a god send for my hair. I use it when I get out of the shower before I brush my hair and it makes it so easy. I don’t have to worry about breaking my hair off by brushing it wet. I also like how it is slightly holding and doesn’t make my hair greasy.

I was dreading trying out this line from Redken, due to the silicones in the product. It’s personal preference but I DESPISE when companies use a cheap smoothing ingredient in hair care, skin care or makeup.
If your product truly repairs hair/skin there is zero reason to use silicones. It’s like taking steroids in the Olympics, you probably would have been great but you cheated. The product smells amazing and yes my hair looked amazing.
I even tested how long my hair would look amazing for and had a solid three days of gorgeous “looks like I had a blowout” hair with minimal dry shampoo and probably could have gone even longer. I didn’t notice any shine to my hair that I would have written home about but it def looked healthier than other shampoos/conditioners I’ve used.
Now, the reason for the three stars… I broke out all along my face where a man would grow a beard and sideburns. The silicones may not cause acne themselves but they block pores and oils get trapped underneath bc nothing gets in and nothing gets out when silicones are involved.
If they remade this line WITHOUT silicones I would absolutely purchase and use regularly. I don’t get why companies insist on loading products with them, they cause buildup on hair and then other products you think are applying to conditioner the hair afterward can’t penetrate.
If silicones don’t bother you I think you should check this line out bc it DID make my hair look amazing for days. I have fine oily medium length slightly damaged color treated hair for reference.
This review is regarding Redken Acidic Bonding Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave in conditioner , and acidic bonding concentrate. My hair was like pure straw, dry, brittle, and definitely not manageable. I normally have oily hair and have to wash it everyday.
It is salon color treated and bleached( platinum blonde ). Since I have always used Redken Color Shampoo, Conditioners and heat drying protection for my hair, I reached out to Ulta and Redken for help.
They suggested the Acidic Shampoo, Conditioner, and Leave In Conditioner. I figured since I had already spent several hundreds of dollars trying many other products suggested and I was at my wits end, so why not try it.
Each product only takes less than a quarter size amount, rub your hands together and then apply it to your hair, rinse, etc. and they are also safe for color treated hair too. OMGOSH, after just one application, I could already tell a difference.
This product is a life savor! I did not blow dry my hair for the first few days, I let it dry naturally. Now I can blow dry it and style as normal. The Leave In Conditioner is amazing, so please be sure you get this one too.
Don’t know why people say this product smells bad, because they don’t. If they did, I wouldn’t use it and would send it back. If you are experiencing difficulty with your hair, yes indeed I highly and strongly recommend all 4 of these products together, you will not regret it! Thank you Redken products for saving my hair.
This is the best and final product of 3 in an AMAZING Redken hair product line that I received from influenster and redken in exchange for my honest review. AND WOW. Y’all. I have long hair – like it’s almost to my butt.
And having hair this long means it can be hard to keep it looking healthy because of split ends and heat damage and sun exposure…. but this line may be the best thing I’ve ever tried. I’ve been reading up/learning a lot about hair lately.
I’ve been learning that one of the worst things that can affect your hair is actually the PH of products. Strong, healthy hair actually needs something more one the acidic PH side to help it thrive(fact: the ph of WATER isn’t what you think it’s be…it can actually be part of what’s hurting your hair!!).
And this Redken Line is the best thing I’ve encountered for it. I could tell a difference after the first wash, but kept using for another 3 weeks before offering my review to be sure. People asked me what’s different about my hair, and this was the only change.
I’m really not usually a leave in conditioner girl, but this has changed my mind – maybe forever. It’s the BEST. Of the three products, this is one has the lowest ph not just of these 3 products, but of almost every other hair product I’ve researched.
Again, that same light, citrusy fragrance is consistent through the line(another thing that REALLY impresses me. I love using s/c sets, but rarely is there consistency in scent from shampoo to conditioner…but when there is consistency like this the fragrance lingers and is just deliciousness!!).
My hair absorbs this stuff like a sponge. It’s light, but HEAVILY conditions. It’s smooth, but packs tons of texture and volume somehow. It makes your hair soft, but strong. It’s like the greatest self-contradiction in hair care ever…and I love it.
A versatile hair mist with added thermal protection to reduce frizz and flyaways, revealing perfectly smooth and silky hair. This product prepares hair for styling, protects it from the heat, and smooths flyaways, leaving you with smooth, shiny and easy to style hair that’s revitalized and tangle-free.
Ouai’s leave-in Revitalizer detangles and revitalizes hair, leaving it smooth, shiny, and easy to style, while taming flyaways and nourishing dry ends. How to use Mist lightly over damp hair before brushing and/or styling with heat tools to revitalize, tame, and protect hair from the heat.
Stop and mend hair breakage and repair split ends with this intense hydrating treatment. Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream is an award-winning product that uses pure shea butter and other natural oils to stop and mend breakage, repair split ends, and add manageability each time it is used.
Shea Butter is brilliant at treating dry, itchy scalps and dandruff. Use it on a daily basis to help promote stronger, healthier hair. It’s been specially formulated for damaged, dry or coarse hair and to reduce frizz but also works brilliantly for relaxed, texturised, coloured and permed hair.
This product is complete trash. I have no idea why it’s gotten so many good reviews. I got a big jar of this stuff for my extremely damaged hair (no idea why because I’ve taken such good care of it my whole life) and used it for about two months every night.
Did exactly what the instructions said. All it did was make my hair curl up which is really gross because curls are gross (on me at least) and short hair on girls is ugly. It also made my hair look darker, and dark hair does not suit me whatsoever.
So basically it did everything I didn’t want it to do. This stuff is just a rip-off. One night without it, and my hair was back to it’s previous condition. It was lighter without Cantu which was good, but very frizzy with obvious split ends everywhere.
Not that it was much better with Cantu because this product is nothing but a quick cover-up and makes your hair look gross, curly, darker, and oily.
I’ve used many Leave-in conditioners but this one actually works! The first time I used it the instructions said to apply “generously” of course when I realised how thick and creamy it was I decided to ignore this and apply a little more than I would normally but not by much.
I noticed when I ran my hands under tap that the greasy feel came away before I’d even used soap! So, the second time I used it I applied it liberally. I have long hair and used as directed this time.
By the time it dried I was very surprised that it gave weight to my fine hair and made it bouncy! So I highly recommend this product. I’m in my 70’s and don’t usually leave reviews because they would generally be negative and knowing not everybody has the same experience thought my 2 cents worth wasn’t worth the bother.
Over time I hope to discover that it’s other promise of making my hair “healthier” comes to fruition. I’ll let you know. I don’t usually buy this product but I will in the future.
As a curly African American woman, I have kept the original formula version in my “hair box” for a few years now. I loved the smell and how it gave my hair a slight crunch to hold up a wash n go. I looked up the ingredients in this “new and improved” formula and compared them to the older version.
Beware: the first 6 ingredients are the SAME – including the (cetearyl) ALCOHOL. As we all know, ingredients are listed in order from the highest concentration, so how can this new formula be that much different if the MAIN ingredients are the same (??) Nonetheless, I will give it a try.
What I love about Target, is that they do not hesitate to take back returned hair products that don’t work out for you – opened or not. Anywho, just leaving my 2 cents, in case others are not paying attention to the actual ingredients.

I have very coarse African American hair that doesn’t grow very fast. I can’t say that this conditioner has helped with breakage but what I can say is that it hasn’t had any adverse effect on my hair and it doesn’t smell weird.
I have continued to use it for over a year now because it does add moisture to my hair. I know there are better products on the market but for the price this is a good one to try.

Why haven’t I used this product before?! It is absolutely fantastic and smooths all your split ends leaving your hair silky smooth and deeply conditioned with zero residue! I have very thick, coarse bleach damaged hair and have tried every product under the sun that would actually work.
This is that product! You can use it on wet or dry hair which is great. I use urban antidotes shampoo and conditioner and follow with ego boost on damp hair then blow dry. This will leave your hair feeling fresh and super soft and bouncy! Split ends seem non existent now and I am so pleased! I will continue using this product and won’t look back! Highly recommend.
