20 Best Leather Thickness For Wallets (2023 Updated)

This is my second Hank’s purchase – the first was a belt which I love. The wallet design is perfect. Simple, elegant, clean lines with no frills and no waste. Materials look and feel great and it is clearly well-made.

Exactly the way I like things. BUT. the wallet has a very strong chemical odor. I left it out in my garage for a few days before I could consider using it but even then it smelled bad, especially after being folded for a while the chemical smell seems to get stronger again.

It’s slowly fading after about a week of use, but I still smell it every time I take it out of my pocket. A massive letdown after the good experience with my belt.

Appears to be well made and looks just like in the pictures. I’m sure it will hold up to many years of use. First impressions, I thought it would be made of a thicker outer leather for a product that has such a long warranty.

My cards fit tight and I have no fear of them falling out. The stitching looks well done and I have no fear of it falling apart any time soon. I got the dark brown bi-fold wallet and after applying some conditioning oil it turned a little darker.

Maybe I’ll buy the light brown next time. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase and will probably get a belt later. Thanks Hanks for offering many great products.

I’ve purchased four items from Hanks over the past couple years. Three belts, one wallet. (Latest purchase June 2022). This company is the real deal – real people with an obvious passion for service and an “always over deliver” attitude.

I’m really happy with my Emerald green minimalist wallet! It’s exactly what I wanted – something slim that has enough space for the basic needs. My bulky back-pocket-bifold was giving me some lower back pain after long periods of sitting.

Contrary to some other reviews, I thought the color was a true emerald and was exactly what I expected after looking at the pictures. Considering this was a made-to-order item, it was shipped quickly.

This is genuine leather and I’m thinking it will take some time to soften up, but I highly recommend. Thanks LifetimeLeather!.

I had been looking at a similar wallet at a competitor. I decided to choose this one for a few reasons. There is nearly no branding on this. Amazing! I love things being customized, so of course I had to get a gold monogram.

I chose this wallet specifically because it is low profile, it holds a lot of cards and what not if you need, but generally stays quite slim. Blue leather is also awesome, don’t know what kind of blue cows they have but I love it.

Lastly I realized that I have never had a leather wallet before, because when I opened it up it instantly felt like quality. Beautiful soft quality leather. Well priced quick shipping. Packaging was simple but good.

The quality of the wallet is superb. The leather is beautiful, thick, and well cut, the stitching is sturdy, and the card sleeves are–importantly for me, as someone whose old wallet would spill its cards everywhere when turned nary a degree from horizontal–perfectly sized, holding all my cards snugly.

It folds nicely and is of a very practice size. The engraving I was worried a bit about, thinking the monogram might be large and clumsy, but it wasn’t: it’s modestly sized, crisply imprinted, and very attractive.

I didn’t have any contact with customer service, so no comments there. The wallet did take a breathtakingly long time to reach me in Australia–about three months (!)–though this was made clear at the time I placed the order, and Coronavirus restrictions probably abetted the sluggishness.

It was worth the wait, but the long shipping times for international orders is worth taking into consideration. I am very impressed with the wallet over all, and barring any future catastrophic failure of the stitching or something, I can only recommend it.

The price was very good too, given the quality.

I thought I would update my review since I feel as though I owe it to Popov based on the quality of this wallet. I have owned my wallet since 2017, and carried it in my pocket WITH KEYS every day since.

Besides a minor patina, this wallet is still in perfect condition. Based on how it is aging, I am expecting another 10 years minimum. I love this wallet and would recommend it to anyone. I keep two cards in some slots, and one in others, the card slots loosened a bit after purchase, then plateaued at the perfect stiffness.

I have never had a card slip out. My keys dent the wallet, but after a while the dents disappear at the same rate they form, and I don’t think a leather exists that can handle what I have done to my wallet any better.

I could ask nothing more of a wallet, and it feels like a steal at this price point.

Today my TriFold Wallet and leather conditioner arrived, Woo-Hoo, it is beautiful! I am amazed how well it is constructed. The craftsmanship is beyond compare. Every piece of leather is perfectly cut, the stitching is perfect, the overall fit of each piece comes together in perfect harmony.

Turns out I had the wrong badge wallet for last 20 years. The templates really helped get the exact cutout I needed for my badge and this model is the perfect size as it allows multiple cards,IDs badge concealment and most of all enough space for cash!!!! Only regret was not buying this model 20 years ago!.

I would definitely recommend this wallet because of the construction and the quality of leather, and areas to place cards and identification.

My husband is very hard to please whrn it comes to a badge wallet. This has satisfied his needs. He loves it!

It’s made with very nice leather and heavy duty stitching thread that should last forever. They do use a woven cloth material as the liner for the cash sleeves which I would have expected a thin leather for the price but hopefully the material they chose will hold up as long as the rest of the wallet.

My only real complaints is the card pockets are a little tighter than they need to be but I expect that will get better with time and the main thing I don’t like is the window pocket in the middle is too loose on the side where my DL slides in, it would easily fall out if it weren’t a trifold wallet, I have to push it back in everytime I open the wallet.

These problems weren’t enough to bother returning or exchanging it but it does surprise me that the DL pocket problem slipped through their qc since these things are handmade. As long as the thread they used and those cloth sleeve liners they use hold up as long as the leather undoubtedly will I could be using this wallet till the day I kick the bucket!.

Leather is high quality which grips cards and cash to keep them in place. Holds ~7 cards and a few bills in the center. The center pocket is closed on the bottom for better security…other leather wallets are open on both sides.

After much research on minimalist wallets, I am very pleased with this purchase.

It’s just the right size! I can fit my three ID’s and five cards with room to spare, and the center pocket for folded cash is a bonus. The bison leather is beautiful and the color rich and vibrant. This will last years.

This is the second item I have purchased from Colin. Great communication and fantastic craftsmanship. This was a gift for my boyfriend and he went from a tri-fold to this billfold and loves it. The Hermann Oak leather is naturally getting darker beautifully, stitching is clean and meticulous.

My bf receives compliments on it all the time. Beautiful sheen to the navy blue but not too shiny.

Well-crafted piece with good stitching and edge burnishing. Would be better if the holes punched for stitching was finer and smaller as I can see a little more clearance than needed in between the tight stitching.

Leather used is good but it almost looks like corrected grain due to its uniformity. Shipping was fast and on time.

The materials and craftsmanship are exceptional. The Shinki navy cardovan contrasts very well with the tan Hermann Oak leather. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Getting compliments left and right.

The smaller the better for me. I don’t think it could be made any smaller and still work. Really well constructed and I believe will last a long while. Plus I really love the smell of new leather. I can’t wear a wallet in my back pocket anymore especially traditional sized ones due to problems it causes with my back.

I was using one of those little business card holders that come with your card order but it falls apart with wear and is just too tight for credit cards or folded money. This little wallet is perfect for my use.

Looks and feels nice. Holds a lot. Only drawback that I’ve noticed is credit card slots are a little tight making it harder to get cards out. This may change with using for a while. Excellent price for well made product.

Product is good, have been using wallet for over 5 weeks. At one point had around 6 to 7 coins, even then the wallet does not look bulged. The product is bit expensive, trust it lasts for at least few years.

Initialy the product was fine but after a few days use theslots for credit cards had the tucked in edges comming adrift. I have returned the item to you for a refund

Giordano is a true artist. The attention to detail shown in this journal cover is the kind you can only get from an artisan, and only if you are lucky at that. The color is gorgeous. So rich and deep.

The quality is immensely high, the stitching perfect and strong, the spacing exact for my journal. I know that this cover is going to last at least my lifetime, and probably several more. Things like this make me wish I lived longer actually.

Don’t take this review lightly: I’ve used the same wallet for the past THIRTY YEARS! I’ve tried many others as potential replacements and hated them all, always going back to my tattered one. But this wallet is a keeper.

Not only did Giordano custom make it to my size specifications (I wanted it close to the size I was already comfortable with) but its quality is top-notch. \n\nWhat’s really great is that it’s “high-end” without being dainty.

I was gifted a $300 Coach wallet a few years ago, but I returned it. It just seemed too delicate, like with one scratch it would be ruined. But this wallet, even though the leather is also high quality, I’m not afraid to use like I was the Coach one.

This is the exact wallet that perfectly fits my need. Minimalist fine leather that can hold one debit card, two credit cards, and an ID—the only wallet things that I carry. This is my second single track wallet from Rustico that I owned.

The previous wallet got lost, and I ordered another one. However, Rustico is now placing a metal rivet with their logo on the bottom corner of the new wallet, and after carrying it in my back pocket for 2 days, that rivet began damaging my cards.

I drilled out the rivet and now the wallet has a small hole in its place, but at least it’s not further damaging my cards. Minus that metal logo rivet, this card is perfect.

I purchased 3 single track wallets, one for myself and two for work colleagues. They’re just “okay. ” I have purchased quite a few products from Rustico and have LOVED them so much. These were just “okay.

” Not only was the quality just “okay” but so was the functionality. I purchased them to hold business cards but because of how they’re made, the tops of the cards end up getting dirty, bent, etc. and no one wants to hand out cards that look tattered.

I had each one personalized with our names so I couldn’t exchange them for something else unfortunately because for the first time, I wasn’t excited about my purchase from Rustico.

This was my second purchase from hanks, after my Extreme Belt (That I also love. Fantastic belts here). If you like slim wallets but like to carry cash and have a small handful of cards, this is the wallet for you.

With the external pockets I can grab a card I need without removing the wallet from my pocket. If I want to keep stuff more secure, the interior pockets are exactly what you’d think. The cash pocket is a little small and I found that bills stuck up a bit, however I believe that’s because it isn’t broken in yet.

Let me start by saying that I’m trying to break the habit of stuffing a large wallet with all sorts of unnecessary items and go with a minimalist front pocket approach. I don’t want to go with a money clip option, and still carry bills in a wallet, so I’m giving this wallet a try.

It barely holds bills, favoring small form factor. I have pared down my cards to a minimum, and am enjoying the “forced weight loss” carry. This wallet is attractive, and while a bit stiff, I’m am quite sure that it will wear in to have the character I’m looking for.

Of course, it’s a Hanks, so it’s manufactured tough tough tough. It’s another wonderfully well made product from Hanks!.

I really like the size of the wallet, and it is usable in the front pocket. The leather is really stiff and using some leather softener really helped. I added a metal clip for paper money, as the place to put bills has not softened up enough to get more that 2 bills in there without them sticking out.

Over all love the quality of the wallet and the size. Was just what I was looking for.

I was looking for a long wallet like this with plenty of pockets. The outside of the wallet is a sleek, professional design and the quality of the leather was nice for the price. On the inside of the wallet, there was one side with 4 rows of 2 pockets (8 card slots) and the other size had 2 rows of long pockets for unfolded dollar bills.

But I ended up returning this wallet because the side with 8 slots was actually difficult to take cards out of once all the slots were full. It doesn’t seem very functional when the cards are hard to remove – maybe the leather might loosen over time, but I wished the pockets themselves were a bit wider, plus I think 4 rows for 8 cards on one side was too much.

I wished the 8 card slots were split evenly between both sides so that one side of the wallet wasn’t so overstuffed with cards. I also didn’t need designated cash slots. If you plan on maxing out the card slots, you may want go for a different wallet instead.

I needed a wallet that was simple/small enough to fit in a crossbody bag but large enough to carry all the cards, cash and even a few coins. Enter, the Post Wallet. It has ample card space, two slots for cash (use it to separate my small bills from my large bills) and a zipper pouch.

I like that it’s also a super simple open and close, no zipper to fuss with. The leather is of course gorgeous and soft but these are what I’ve come to expect from Madewell. Quality items, designed right, and will last a long time.

In short, it’s a wallet that’s made well (get it?) and it’s super functional. I can’t believe I didn’t order it sooner.

I bought this for a slim wallet that includes room for a checkbook. It’s great quality but it really only accommodates the check booklet, no slot for the check register. This could have easily been done by putting a long slot under the slots for the credit cards.

Then the gold button for the closure is on the same side as the place for checks so it’s hard to write a check since it’s bumpy. A smaller button or putting it on the other side would be better. But it is a nice wallet and if these aren’t concerns for you then it would be great!.

I thought this was going to be a quality item. It is not. The pictures on the Rogue website go through painstaking detail to hide the el cheapo interior fabric liner that the rest of the wallet is built upon.

You can wipe your smug ***** with your sustainability BS because you know damn well the fabric will wear out shortly after the warranty period and the animal hide will end up in the landfill with all the other junk wallets.

Also, the no returns on monogrammed wallets scam is pretty good. Free shipping if you add monogram – but then you cannot return your junk wallet when it arrives and you realize it is garbage just like the made in china wallets.

You guys go **** some more animals to put their hides in a landfill. Would it really have ate into your profits to make a 100% leather wallet? Should have knew better when the morons put a solar roof on a factory in Maine.

The only reason i gave 2 stars was because it does fit in the front pocket well. Oh well, you can fool your clients once – but don’t count on me to ever recommend you or buy anything else.

Ok, I never do reviews of products I purchase. Not usually worth my time. I felt that I had to let your customers know how great a product you sell. My first front pocket wallet was bought several years ago from Rogue.

I found the least expensive one I could since I have always used the conventional back pocket type billfold. I liked it so much I bought one for each of my relatives for Christmas that year. First one did not wear out but I wanted to get the bison FP style which I did.

I will never buy anything else. Great style and quality wallet. Rogue is the best company I have found for excellent customer service too. If you have never tried A Rogue wallet you are missing out on an excellent experience.

I could go on talking about Rogue but you probably think I own the company or have a vested interest in the company. WRONG. I am just a satisfied customer. Like I said at first I never do reviews but I hope this one gets you to buy for yourself or someone you care about a product from Rogue Industries.

My second “unique” handsome Rogue Salmon wallet. Lots of compliments over the years. Have purchased about 10 various Rogue high quality craftsman USA made wallets for gifts & for myself over the years.

Still have my first Salmon which I over stuffed and stretched but it still works nicely but I decided to give myself a new one after 8 years. Committed not to repeat stretching this one. Would like for Rogue management to consider a Salmon 6 cc option with their Nantucket style “folding money” pocket.

My opinion is that Rogue has the best wallet design for men for front pocket function, fit, feel and comfort versus any of their competition. Highly recommend all of their front pocket expressions w/o reservation.

Remember each Salmon is unique & their 2 year warranty. Catch and Release, fish.

I love Portland Leather products! I have purchased four purses/totes, four wallets, and two purse extenders. I love the leather and they are very durable. I rotate them often to match my outfits. These envelope wallets are amazing for small bags and carrying minimal amount of cash/cards.

I currently carry $100 and about 7 cards. This item is fantastic and I can’t even tell why it’s “almost perfect”. Well done, Portland Leather! The only thing that I don’t love about these products is the lack of size inclusivity for the length of the crossbody and long straps.

They don’t fit plus size women. This has limited my ability to purchase more. Please add adjustable straps to all of your crossbody bags and allow for strap extenders in all of these. I would absolutely purchase more and I know my girlfriends would as well.

Overall, great product but limited by strap length.

Love this wallet! The leather is great quality and the color was exactly what I was expecting. We haven’t figured out what made it imperfect, which is to say Portland Leather is very particular about their products.

I use this wallet to sit inside my backpack to hold cash and coupons. I have something else to hold all my cards. So it’s great for things that lay long and flat. There are slots for a few cards so if this were your main wallet there is a place for your important cards.

This wallet folds up easily and the brass snap is just enough bling for me. The snap feels secure without being impossibly hard to engage. So far, I love it for what I use it for!.

For my personal use, this is quite possibly the perfect EDC/Minimalist design. Being able to fit cash folded only once is a must for me. Cards fit great and give quick access to your most used cards, which is another must have for a good EDC.

I can’t knock any stars off because I knew what I was getting when I bought it (thicker cowhide, machine stitched, no real burnishing to speak of, etc. ), but I can’t help wondering how perfect this wallet would be with some higher quality options/features like being able to pick leather and thread colors, hand stitching, different quality leather like Horween or Pueblo leather that is thinner, good finished burnishing, etc.

At the end of the day, I don’t think that is the style of this company, so I don’t fault them for not having those features/options. Make no mistake, this is a fantastic wallet. If you’re hesitating to pull the trigger, don’t.

just understand what you’re getting.

Already being a highly Rustico customer, I’ve been stalking the website for a while trying to settle on a wallet. My first purchase was the Passport wallet to give it time to wear while I made my permanent wallet decision.

Fast forward 4 months, I am writing this review fresh from pulling it out of the wrapping. All I can say is WOW this wallet blew all of my expectations within seconds of being in my hands. The photos do not do this wallet justice and I’ve been looking at them for 4 months.

The craftsmanship Rustico puts into this, my now third product of theirs, and every other item I’ve received is impeccable. I’ve recently shifted into a “buy for life” mindset and Rustico makes products you can buy and use for life.

I was surprised at how much room this slim wallet has. It’s very low profile but comfortably holds 12-15 bills folded in half (can definitely fit even more I’m sure!) plus 6 cards. I would usually only keep 4 cards in it but I’d like to stretch the slots just a little to make it easier to slide the cards in and out.

I can’t wait to watch this beautiful piece patina like the others have and will continue to do over time. Every product from Rustico has surprised me and I will continue to buy from them as often as I can.

I love this wallet. It is compact and comfortable to carry in my front pocket, yet it holds just the right number of cards and cash. It is wonderfully simple with few stress points that are likely to fail.

Just the right colors to choose from, but I like the natural. I can’t wait to see how it ages. I have bought 3, earned one as a advertising premium, and given 2 as gifts and you just can’t beat USA-made quality at this price.

Only downside is no RFID protection. Not a big deal to me, but it’s a popular feature today.

Why did i wait so long? Retiring carpenter with way too many certifications. The inch and a half tri-fold had to go, this kodiak bi-fold is doing its job very well. Compartments are somewhat tight however I’m sure after a little break in time things will relax.

I will not hesatate to recommend this product to others, in fact I allready have. My biggest complant is I should have waited to buy. Shortly after I made my purchuse they [Kodiak] came out with a promo of spend $250 and a free wallet well missed that one was looking at a nice duffle, maybe next time.

I ordered this wallet in black a few days ago. I just received it today. The wallet is a little bit smaller than the older one I purchased from Overland a few years ago. I like that this black Kodiak wallet has two more card slots than my older wallet.

All in all I am satisfied and I think this new wallet is super cute 🥰!!! And I know it will last me years to come.

Troubadour does it again with this beautifully simple front pocket stunner that is thin enough to replace my money clip/carbon fiber card holder which is not that thin and frankly not that sophisticated.

The navy color matches my Troubadour backpack and weekender bags perfectly and is thin enough to barely notice in my front pocket of my jeans. Definitely recommend this wallet for those who want a sophisticated, minimalist, front-pocket wallet that holds a few cards, id card & cash, and barely noticing you have it in your front pocket.

Busy college student. •••Ubiquitous phone pocket has: regular ID, student ID, and maybe a credit/debit card. It can’t hold much more/I don’t want my phone any bigger. This is where this wallet/card pocket comes in! I use it for more finance- and insurance- related cards, membership cards, coupon cards, and a couple tri-folded bills in one of the inner/back pockets.

Stuff I don’t need daily, but is good to have. It usually stays in my backpack (Rover!), but can easily be pocketed. •••As for looks, I think it’s one of topo’s more subtle products (aside from the branding patch which could be removed if you so desire).

Topo can sometimes over build a product, but this is not one of them. It is sturdy and svelte. Also this does lay flat, so it’s not going to fly open if you set it down somewhere. ••• I haven’t run into the pocket issues that others have, but that’s just me and I don’t mind folding a few bills.

•••I don’t really use the loop but do if I am somewhere where I need to set my keys and wallet down. The loop is nice and sturdy and could potentially be used daily. ••• I don’t really have any gripes about this, though I’m undecided on the closure method as it pertains to my willingness to leave it attached to my keys regularly.

Velcro? too loud, potentially bulky, and I don’t want to look like a kid Magnets? Sleek, will it mess up cards? Elastic? I suppose. It could get stretched out and kind of tarnishes the aesthetic. Zipper? noisy, also, at that point just go with the micro pouch? Not sure what would work best, but I’d be interested in v 2.

I’ve added this wallet to the collection of topo items I have. For what this costs – it’s worth it alone just to get the sticker they send with it. Though very small, I am basically coming from a dad wallet of almost an inch or more thick.

I needed this kind of purge in my life. I can wear this in my back pocket all day and forget it’s in there. I have one suggestion to the designers – add a small button or pieces of Velcro to secure it.

I have not had anything fall out yet – but with the material coupled with the inability to lock it closed – it’s not the most secure feeling. Honestly – I would take the red loop already on there and add a button to pull through it.

Or a simple snap. I know these things add cost. Overall I really like the wallet and can’t wait to get my hands on another topo product soon. Great quality gear. Great design aesthetics.

As a runner and a cyclist, I got this small wallet primarily for keeping in my jersey pocket (or running tights/jacket etc) or in my toptube bag. I have and love, my older Topo Snap wallet, which is also slim but this bi-fold is even trimmer! As others have said, no this bi-fold has no snap or velcro closure but I looks like it would be easy to diy add a small square(s) of velcro.

The rip-stop material is solid and lightweight (I got the blue one) with the signature bright yellow high visibility pack cloth liner. Great little wallet!.
