20 Best Leather Restorer For Sofas (2023 Updated)

It seems to have done a great job covering but instructions are very bad. The jar doesn’t have complete instructions and the paper that came in bag was cut off on the left so missing words. I didn’t know if it would rub off on clothes but so far ok after drying for 24 hours.

Wasn’t sure if a had to seal with something or if that was just optional. It was old sofa so I’m not too concerned.

The black leather driver’s seat in my 31-year-old Mercedes was beginning to show its age, letting down the overall appearance of the car. Clyde’s to the rescue! Twenty minutes or so had it back to almost-new just as many YouTube clips demonstrated.

But where the Clyde’s leather balm really shined was on the leather documents pouch that lives in the glove box. It had multiple white crow’s feet and was looking quite shabby. But again, the Clyde’s leather balm brought it back to near-new.

But the thing that really surprised me was not actually even leather. There is a matt-black painted metal strip trim on the trunk lid that had weathered towards a splotchy off-grey. Figuring I had little to lose, I applied some balm to the trim strip.

Amazingly, the balm worked into the paint surface and produced a sparkling and uniform black! Next is my winter’s day project of restoring eight 45-year-old black leather high-back dining chairs.

I ordered the dark brown. It was a tad darker than the furniture I needed to touch up. However, I don’t think I could’ve found it better elsewhere. My dog licked all the brown off of where your leg goes on a recliner.

Of course, they don’t lick where it is convenient, maybe in the corner or so. She did it smack dab in the middle!! I bought the kit. The stain goes a long way, if you don’t have much to cover. I had maybe the size of a 8 inch baking pan.

The kit has a tiny bottle of the cleaner and the conditioner a bit more. Make sure to get all the shiny wax looking finish off of the leather. It will not soak in. I got it off really well, but was having problems wiping it all off and not soaking in like it should.

So, I used a sponge and dabbed the color all over and then waited a couple of minutes and then wiped it off. I continued to do that until I got the right coverage without creating a demarcation on the leather.

I actually did it right the first time. It was really easy, much easier than anticipated.

Not only does this work great with your hot tub cover that might be cracking or fading. This also blends well with the dark brown to get the color that you really need for that orangeish brown color that hot tubs and other items may be.

I have use the dark brown on even my Restoration Hardware sofas so that they’ll match each other when I got them in different leathers accidentally. This stuff works great don’t hesitate to use it. But you should start out in an area that’s not as noticeable because there is a little bit of a technique you have to learn.

It’s not bad but you do have to keep in mind that this does dry a little bit quicker thanyou needed to. After that though it’s just wonderful.

Applies very easy and no greasy residue. Soaks right into the leather. It does give the leather a darker richer look. We bought an expensive Italian leather couch and we definitely chose the right brand of conditioner.

Was easy to use

Whilst I got good customer service and prompt delivery of the product I purchased – 2 x 250ml containers of leather recolouring balm, the product did not work well on the leather couches which I was treating.

The container instructions advised that the product is “suitable for all types and colours of leather” and did not state that it was suitable for absorbent leather only. My couches were not of absorbent leather and whilst initially it looked as if the product was working to restore the dark brown shade, after a day or two in use the re-colouring balm started to disappear from the surface leaving patches of the orange/tan I had spent two days treating! Very, very disappointing.

I contacted Customer Services to seek advice about whether there was some product I could apply to seal the colouring balm. At that point I discovered that the product I had used on my couches was not the correct one and I was advised about using an alcohol preparation and a “paint” product which I subsequently purchased.

It’s a shame I didn’t chat to a customer service person before purchasing the balm product but I do believe the tin should have stated that the product was only effective when used on absorbent leather.

So a very disappointing result in my case.

This is the most comfortable couch in the world, but it was a hand me down, and the previous owners dog scratched it quite badly when they left her alone. I got this balm not expecting any miracles but the couch seriously looks brand new.

It literally worked a miracle! It does feel a little like pleather now or maybe I’m just used to the super worn soft leather but today I will be putting the mink oil on, and it did seem to soften up the small spot I tested it on already.

Over all VERY IMPRESSED with this transformation! Oh the couch is real leather, but some of the spots were very worn and it covered them all evenly in color. The color is darker but similar to its original color, for reference.

I will be interested to see how well this holds up, will update!.

Arrived very quickly. This ottoman was in such bad shape that I would have gone with a new piece of furniture but my kids love this old ottoman so much. It is quality leather that had no poly coating, but was very dry, old and worn.

This product was fast and easy to use. I used very little of it so got more value compared to similar products. My biggest concern was rub off of color after applying, but even before the recommended dry time, no color came off and I felt confident using it soon after, and had the same good experience after applying the conditioning oil.

I liked that the mink oil was included as well that was really needed in this case.

Awesome product everybody should know about esp if you are not a furniture expert. It was a first for me. The coverage of balm is even, though it covered a worn mottled olive green to a deep rich dark brown color for both sofa and love seat.

If you are wealthy youd probably just buy another living room set, this incredible for cost savers. Covers even with first application. This small container covered a 72 inch sofa with puffy pillows, side to side, front to back.

Dries almost instantly with no wet or tacky surface. Clean up is a breeze. My hands were balm free with a wet paper towel.

Bought this on clearance for use on my 1976 MGB. Cleaned and conditioned the vinyl interior, cockpit tonneau cover, convertible top and vinyl hardtop to a rich, beautiful finish. Couldn’t believe it, but seeing is believing.

Went back to buy three more bottles at the sale price.

A neighbor show me how this products works on a white leather sofa. I went to Home Depot several times looking for this product and was out of stock until I got it a week ago. Now I know why. its just because its so good! This product really cleans leather so easy and leaving no greasy surface.

This product keeps my leather cowboy boots looking like new and keeps them virtually waterproof. I use it regularly on them ,this is my second bottle and I will keep it on hand from now on.

This is AMAZING. I bought a couple of vintage couture handbags in bad shape for practically nothing in hopes of restoring them. I used gloves and cut a sponge into tiny cubes to use to rub this onto the bags.

I could not believe how the edges went from rough to smooth and how the dirt vanished. There was a glitter glue glob dried up on one that came out. The handles on the lighter tan bag are dark and filthy and after the first application of this they cleaned up about 50%.

I will continue to work on these, but so far this stuff has taken these vintage finds and restored them beyond what I had hoped possible. The best part for me is that this is safe to handle and does not have an odor.

So good. It’s been 5 years since I used any of my horse tack. Took it all out and gave it a good once-over with Leather CPR, and it’s like I just bought a whole new set. One of the pieces of tack, I got from a thrift store, and it looked like it had never been cleaned/conditioned even once in its life.

Now, after two coats of this stuff, I have a new breast plate that is soft and supple and dark and shiny. Incredible.

I used this on my leather Stressless chair by Ekorness to revitalize the leather. The chair had been in storage for almost 6 months, wrapped in plastic sheathing. When I uncovered it, there were areas of the leather that were very hard and dirty looking.

I had never used this before, but the reviews were great, and the “Why we love this” on SmartPak’s website was very convincing. But after I bought it and read the label, it said, “This product can expose you to o-Phenylphenol, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer.

” I tried it anyway with mask and gloves, just in case it really was a miracle product. But no, it left my tack terribly gummy and sticky, which did not “simply wipe away with a damp sponge” as instructed.

I had to clean my tack all over again.

After trying to find the best leather care product to care for the leather interior of my Porsche, LEATHER THERAPY was by far the best one, endorsed in most of the online forums for exotic sports cars.

Most recently, I used it to restore the leather on my faded and dried-out Ekornes Stressless recliners and ottomans. If you have dried-out and damaged leather, apply liberally to cloth or fine sponge and really work it into the leather, and give the leather some time to absorb the product and off-gas the fumes.

The fumes are by NO means noxious, but there is a very mild but noticeable, NOT unpleasant scent. A lIttle goes a long way, and it can be a bit runny. Otherwise, you can apply a light coat and reapply if necessary, but it’s better to apply a heavier coat and really work it INTO the fine cracks and grooves in the leather.

As always, try a small area first and see how it does. I love this product, and it’s a lot of fun to preserve, protect, and restore leather–giving it new life!.

My husband bought this for his leather seats but Not gonna lie, I used this on our leather couch. I had wiped it down with some disinfectant wipes (covid) and it made the couch kind of dull. So I took this stuff and sprayed it on and wiped it with a soft cloth.

The couch looked brand new. The leather softened up and was shiny. Smells good too!.

This cleaner works great! I got some tuff dirt with some kind of sap in it that must have been on my raincoat. Needless to say it transfered from the coat to my leather Jeep seats. I tried soap and water but didnt like the results, the Turtle Wax leather cleaner cleaned it up nice and didnt leave a shiny slippery coating.

I’m really surprised with this product, I didn’t expect something great for the price. Once I used it I’m glad I bought it. This spray does clean, condition and protect. It will even give the leather some shine without a greasy feeling and that’s what I was looking for.

You can even use this spray on plastic and your dash and will make it shine. The smell is okay.

I really like how well Zep Leather Cleaner & Conditioner cleans my red leather couches. The only issue I had was that it was really hard to figure out getting started. You can’t see the “Off”, “Spray”, or “Stream” on the nozzle very well at all.

What a big design flaw! So, to make things easier on myself when I use your product, I used a quality silver marking pen (the kind you have to shake). I wrote “Off” on the two off positions, and since the area is small, I drew multi lines that looked like a spray on the spray side, and on the stream side, I just drew a line with an arrow tip.

What a waste of my time! I hope this gets changed before I need to buy more Zep Leather Cleaner & Conditioner. I might pass it up to try another brand that’s easier to use. Gotta say, when everybody else’s nozzles are easy to read, I’m surprised your design team screwed this one up.

This excellent product saved me from a very expensive MOT failure – the windscreen was deeply scratched by flying debris that nearly broke it. An area probably 3 inches by 2 inches right in the line of vision.

We used this potion, with a buffer bit in a mains electric drill with total 100% success – its now totally gone. Some tips – lightly spray the windscreen with cold water throughout to keep it lubed and cool, else it can shatter with the heat.

Second, use a mains drill on high speed cos a rechargeable just won;t give the power needed. Third – remember to take the drill OFF hammer setting before starting. Finally – make sure the metal core in your buffer bit doesn’t penetrate through and give you a whole new load of scratches.

I used this polishing compound to polish out some deep scratches in a mirror. I applied the compound using a circular sponge bit on a high speed drill. It required about eight applications and a whole tub of the stuff, but we finally got all the scratches out.

You have to stop once the glass and sponge get too hot or the compound burns. It was a difficult job, but this did the trick. Negative: no instructions given. hazards not highlighted, grit – particle size not indicated.

Don’t try to get it all done in one application and make sure you clean the surface well after each application. If scratches are deep, mechanical application is recommended.

This product seems too good to be true, how can it be so cheap and yet do everything it claims to? Yet it really does work! It was my last ditch attempt to rescue an old, well used sofa before I gave up and looked for a new one.

My dilemma was I had 2 boys, and a dog that had originally caused the scratches, and wear and tear, I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a new one for it to be instantly ruined again. I purchase this product online, thinking it’s worth a try, not much to lose if it doesn’t work.

I actually waited for the postman to deliver it, I was so excited by the claims! I wasn’t disappointed, it instantly revived my sofa, the dogs scratches disappeared straight away, and after a couple of applications so did the round coffee cup stain.

What amazes me is the speed at which it works, and the fact that I could use the sofa without getting any stains on my clothes whatsoever. Application is simple, just follow the instructions carefully, and put some elbow grease into it! I used dark brown and it matched my sofa perfectly, it blended in to the leather and gave an as new finish.

I bought a new leather sofa from someone who had it custom made, rarely used it but it did not fit their new premises. The sofa was pristine and already nourished with cream. I couldn’t resist trying the conditioning balm so I treated a small area.

Following the instructions I found this product was all it claimed to be. I was also pleased with the very quick delivery. My original sofa has been donated but I will condition it with the balm before collection so that it will look as good as new.

I have a very old – approx. 1960! – leather pouffe which really looked its age with very faded colour and extremely dry leather. Both colour and suppleness were restored like magic. Couldn’t recommend this product more.

I used this after first cleaning my leather sofa with a “home recipe” (for anyone interested, just1/4 cup olive oil/1/2 cup vinegar, applied with a soft microfiber cloth, removed and buffed with another cloth, worked very well on this not-very-dirty sofa).

My dog had scratched the seats pretty thoroughly with her settling routine, so I didn’t have high hopes for this product but was pleasantly surprised at how well it faded the scratches and conditioned the entire sofa back to near-new condition.

It comes with an application sponge, which was kind of small but adequate. I eventually got out the larger sponge I use for my auto, making it much faster. All-in-all a great product!.

I recently got this TriNova Learher Cleaner and Restorer. I love how great it works for my leather seats in my car, I’ve been looking for a good leather conditioner since I got the car 1 1/2 years ago.

After using just once, I could already tell a great difference in the softness and shine!!! you can tell a great difference in the picture I’m adding!I can’t wait to use it on my parents leather couches to help them out as well!! They’re older and I don’t doubt this will help restore the older leather furniture!!.

I’ve had leather interior in my cars for years. When I bought my leather couch, using a car interior leather cleaner and conditioner just didn’t feel right. Enter Pure Sense. This stuff is great!! It cleans and dries well.

It’s not sticky and the scent is very natural. We have 3 dogs, one of which enjoys scratching the bottom of the couch, and two cats. This leather cleaner blends his “scritch” (yes, we call it scritching) marks so well and leaves the leather looking great! A staple item in our house now.

Finally bit the adulting bullet and upgraded my furniture. We bought a semi-analine leather couch, the kind that looks like a well-worn leather jacket. I have been using the cleaner/conditioner regularly, and the leather has stayed butter soft.

I *love* it. BUT. that’s not the half of it. I can’t post before and after pictures, but today I discovered that my cat has used the couch as a scratching post! I ran for this stuff, put a little bit of (angry) elbow grease behind it, and my couch is AS GOOD AS NEW.

This stuff is Amazing! I have a 17 year old leather rocker. It has been moved 6 times and been put in storage for a couple of those years. It was scuffed from moving and so dry I was scared it was going to start flaking.

I had tried multiple other leather cleaner/conditioners but they only did so-so and took a lot of work. This one was so simple and effective! It worked immediately! My chair looks brand new again! Love this stuff!.

Absolutely did the job advertised. I needed an ivory color, and found that the “off-white” was really kind of gray. So, I bought “beige” and managed to mix them together with great success. Perfect match!! (Although, with all the ivory leather out there, I was surprised it didn’t have it’s own color).

Anyway, a little experimental mixing with a Q-tip and gentle application (go lightly – you can always go back after things have dried and do another coat) and, viola! You can not tell where I touched this up.

Dang, I wish I had taken pictures, but you’ll be amazed at how well this works. I was! Sofa looks fab.

It was supposed to be dark gray. It was gray but had a purple cast or sheen. I shook the small bottle for about ten minutes before applying. I also made sure there were no contaminations or unclean surfaces prior to application.

Just got a bad batch. I was disappointed but then again nothing is perfect anyway.

I am learning as to use dyes as to re invent leather covered furnishings. At first i did not think that this product would cover some of the leather i was working with, but with a little time and patience, it greatly improved the look of my pieces.

I bought this product because of a positive review I read about it. So , I got some. This is great stuff. Glad the review was right. Not messy. Brings back original brilliance.

I switched to 3M Leather and Vinyl Restorer over two years ago and couldn’t be happier. I use it for all my vehicles. I have a 21 year old pickup truck and the dash looks like new. Be aware that it leaves a glossy finish, but it looks great.

Please continue manufacturing this product.

The sprayer head arrived damaged. When I pull the trigger to spray, more product drips down the trigger than sprays out the nozzle. The product seemed to be packed well so it is likely this was damaged before it was packed.

FWIW, the product seems to clean well.

I bought this because I needed a good leather conditioner. I didn’t want to use oiling. I clean my tack after every ride, so every day, but once a week I condition when I do a full teardown of tack. It is very messy to work with, and smells like French fries.

It didn’t absorb at all, even though all I used was a drop. After it dried, anywhere the leather bent, or when my stirrup is hooks onto my horn, it left a dirty feeling yellow residue. Would probably be good for a super dry climate as a daily conditioning, but not good for the Louisiana humidity.

I will finish the bottle, but after I will be looking for a different conditioner. My tack is not dry, it just leaves a nasty residue. It softens the leather, and if you can deal with the residue, this would work for you.

I bought Leather New first to use on my sweat-stiffened leather half chaps. They drank in a crazy amount of this oil and are still (3 months later) as soft as butter. I then used it on my western cowboy boots on a whim and it transformed them from burly to beautiful too.

It did darken the tan boot leather to a light mahogany color but I think it looks richer and more expensive now. I recently bought a crusty old saddle and once again mopped Leather New oil on generously.

The old leather rehydrated and feels as supple as the most expensive new saddle. The well worn areas under the stirrup leathers drank in a ton of oil then let me know when to stop when it stopped absorbing.

I would not hesitate to use this on any leather product and I love the fact that it does not contain waxes or silicones that change the texture and grip of the original surface.

I ordered 10 oils. They arrived quickly and in perfect shape. These items were packaged with my order of 3 saddle soaps. The saddle soaps broke open and soaked packaging.

The rating is not about the product. I have not been able to use yet. The rating reflects my disappointment in the delivery. The spray bottle came in a sealed plastic bag ( thank goodness!) and there was cream all over the inside of the bag.

What a mess! When I cleaned up the bottle and tried to use the product, the sprayer didn’t work. It is very very rare for me to have an issue with a Walmart order but this was extremely aggravating.

I purchased this leather cleaner and polish to try to clean up a leather recliner that was looking a little neglected. The leather was parched and dry and on its way to cracking in some areas. I would suggest that you follow the directions and do a test of the product in an inconspicuous area.

I did and I saw that come of the color did come off onto the white towel I was using but it was minimal and the results were outstanding. Easy to use and leaves a light citrusy scent which was not objectionable at all to me.

Because my chair was so ‘neglected’ I decided to let the product soak in and did not buff it off as advised. I will see how it looks tomorrow and may even do another application and then buff. I will definitely use this again and because it was so easy to use and I have a lot left in the spray bottle so there is no excuse for me not too! Reasonably priced too.

I like it pretty well, but, nothing I’ve seen beats Saniwax. A product my mom and I have used all our lives. I don’t think they make it anymore and that breaks by heart. I only tried this product a couple of times and maybe I will get used to it but I guess instead of spray, I like just dumping a little on a rag or the thing you are doing and rubbing it in suits me better.

I did spray and wipe but it really will take time for me to figure out if I like it the same as Saniwax!.
