20 Best Leak Proof Lunch Containers (2023 Updated)

I will never buy another brand insulated bottles, cups, bento box. We have them all. With the summit bottles my granddaughter’s lid started leaking over a year or longer and after contacting them, she had a new one within 2 days.

Her Bento Box which she absolutely loves also had the lock break and she was heartbroken. BUT, Again, after contacting them, she had a brand new bento box within 2 days. They stand buy their products and they are made in USA.

My daughter loves the Disney Princess design on this bento box, and I think the design would be appealing to even older girls, with the soft pink and blue colors. It’s easy to clean and has space for plenty of food for a child.

My four year old can open it herself. Our first order came damaged, and Simple Modern had a replacement on the way in under 24 business hours. I can’t say enough about their customer service.

I bought 2 of these for my boys (5 & 3) to take snacks on a longer flight. The boxes are a great size and super easy to clean (they also keep all of the contents well separated while closed). However, they both complained about how heavy they were to carry in their backpacks.

Maybe better suited to older children? Still a cute idea and they loved them when they weren’t carrying them.

I ordered this for my 4 year old daughter to pack her school lunches. While I like a lot of the features of this bento lunchbox I do wish I spent a bit more money for a different and better brand. This one is lacking a lot of what I would consider important features for a lunch box meant for a young child.

I chose this brand after having many positive experiences with Munchkin brand products in the past (not bento/lunchboxes). The price and past experiences with this brand influenced me most in this purchase.

My daughter and I really love the number and size of compartments; she’s always excited to help choose what elements of her meal she wants to fill it. It is definitely a sturdy and well made bento box and we love that it comes with the stainless steel utensils.

Unfortunately it does not work well for us because it is on the heavier and larger side. She complains about having to carry it sometimes and it is hard to fit in her lunch bag when also packing her water bottle and ice packs.

It is not completely leakproof (i did not take off a star for this as it is NOT advertised as leakproof) but I thicker substances like yogurt did not leak through in our experience. Sometimes the latch on ours sticks and is difficult for my daughter to open.

Overall I wish I had spent a few more dollars on a different brand. I would not recommend this product nor do I think it is well made for the young children it is marketed to.

It’s described as a toddler lunch box but it’s large enough to hold a moderate adult-sized lunch. The smaller-size Dave’s Bread just fits in the largest compartment. The compartment to the right will hold half a large honeycrisp apple cut into chunks.

It’s is deep enough to hold a sandwich on a roll or bun. The compartments seal well to prevent liquid from pickles and olives into a different compartment. It is very well constructed but it is much heavier than expected.

That’s really the only downside. Oh, and my kid feels that 5 compartments means 5 different foods every day but I’m happy to oblige food diversity.

My 2 year old son is starting preschool soon and this lunchbox will be perfect for him to take a healthy, fun lunch in. The color combos are great and the material is a neat, soft plastic. The little compartments are perfect size portions for toddlers and lead to a great variety of options.

I even enjoy seeing what different combinations I can come up with each time I pack it! The seal on the compartments is great too so nothing leaks into another space. Its also easy to clean, I literally just rinsed it out under running water and everything came off.

I also love that the silverware is included and super easy to push on and off but still stay in place. I would highly recommend this lunchbox, will last us a while. *** I received this product in exchange for honest feedback.

I purchased the kids 5 compartment lunch box for my daughter when she was in kindergarten. She absolutely loved it and so did I. Having so many compartments was nice to give a big variety of options for kids.

Plus it’s super cute! Fast forward to 4th grade, she still has it and used it for a few days but then decided she wanted the big kid one (to match her friend in class) once she showed me which was it was I was sold.

It’s a very neat style. I like the shape and how you can customize a section depending on what your packing for lunch. My daughter is obsessed and now her younger sister wants this new one. Bentgo has amazing customer service and are always so quick and responding and doing whatever they can to keep customers happy & to continue to have great products that don’t disappoint.

If you’ve been debating (stop) and just make the purchase, you will not regret it!! Best choice always thanks!.

I get what other people are saying, yes it’s big, yes we had to purchase a Bentgo Lunch Box holder (which my 7 year old loves), but we love it! It’s cut down on plastic baggies and waste. I really love being able to put wet foods like yogurt with blueberries, or applesauce which has been a game changer.

I feel like her meals are a lot healthier and it’s easy to clean. You can’t buy extra trays or dividers for this particular model yet, but their customer service is fantastic and they will help you with any concern you have.

Just buy it!.

We’ve only been using our Bentgo for about two weeks, but so far we really love it. My favorite thing is the movable divider because it allows me to adjust my daughter’s serving sizes when needed. I also bought the lunchbox, snack Bentgo, and unicorn ice blocks and everything appears to be very high quality.

We put two ice blocks under the Bentgo, and two more in the top zipper pocket of the lunch box so her food stays cool. The only negative for me is that there is no way to fit her snack Bentgo in the lunchbox with her lunch Bentgo… maybe in the future they will produce a Bentgo chill snack container so kids can have a refrigerated snack as well.

We have owned several bentgo boxes, starting with the bentgo kid. What I love about them is it makes packing lunch easy. The kids know, one section holds their protein, one their fruit, one their vegetable and one their grain.

It makes me confident that they can pack their own lunch and get a well balanced diet. The bentgo kids was the perfect size for kindergarten and below, but as we started to try to stuff whole sandwiches into it over time it eventually did crack and break.

So definitely size up rather than stuff it! Bentgo was great though and they do stand behind them for 2 years and replaced it since it was just under 2 years (they definitely aren’t flimsy but kids are tough on things!).

I love the bentgo fresh as it has plenty of room for my 2-4th graders, I even have been know to pack them more than they can eat in it. There have been 2 issues with the bentgo fresh, one has been the hinge on both of the two we own eventually broke when dropped just at the right angle.

Luckily my husband was able to fix both with baking soda and super glue which made me happy they didn’t end up in the land fill (I am sure bentgo would have helped us out with a replacement). And one of them has been going strong for over a year with this fix (the other was dropped recently).

To avoid this problem I am trying out the bentgo pop for my 3rd child. The hinges seem to be protected here so hopefully we won’t have to worry about them. And the second problem has been the dividers getting thrown away.

I love the divider and it seems to fit very snuggly, but somehow my children find a way to not come home with them. I do not know if they bang their food out when emptying them and they fall out, but unfortunately bentgo does not sell replacements.

Hopefully they will change this as they already sell replacements for utensils and other parts that easily wander away. Overall we have really enjoyed ours, they make school lunches easy and are great for traveling (car or plane) as they easily sit in their lap.

I got two of these to pack my daughter’s lunches in, and they are very good. They are sturdy and well made and it’s nice to have the different compartments. I would recommend them. That being said, there are a lot of areas where there could be minor improvements.

– The removable tray is dishwasher safe but the outer shell does not say that it is dishwasher safe. However the lid does come in contact with the food. This means that you still have to hand wash something.

You could put the outer shell in the dishwasher anyway but with the top and bottom attached together it is quite large. – The two clasps do not guide themselves into place, you have to press down on the lid so it is fully closed before snapping the clasps.

If you do not, they will go above the snap point and do nothing (though they will look closed). We often end up with one clasp properly locked and the other above the snap point. – The removable tray has “pockets” on both sides, obviously on the main side for the food but also on the reverse side as an effect of the manufacturing process.

This means that no matter which way you put it in the dishwasher, water (and food gunk) will fill up one set of pockets. – The way the external clamshell is designed the removable tray can almost fit in the bottom or the top or it can even almost fit rotated around, but the box will only close if the tray is in the 1 correct position.

This means that in the morning when you’re getting lunch packed and feeding kids breakfast, you have a 1 in 4 chance of getting the tray in the right way on your first try.

My oldest kid has food allergies so lunch is taken everyday. We got these when she was in kindergarten, now she’s finishing 2nd. This is a great size for her and divided for her protein with a place for ketchup, fruit and vegetable and a open spot for a rare treat.

My youngest even has one that she has used since age 2 now 4. It is a great size for her to take to Mother’s Day out. Occasionally when she was younger she may not have gotten the lid back on just right after lunch but it wasn’t to big of a deal.

The latches where still easy for her to manage but not easy come i’m done on their own. We did do the press n stick wrap on the seals and that did help slow down the seals from getting gross. Though it didn’t help that my oldest left her lunch box at school 2 or 3 times over night so food just sat in there.

We planned on replacing it the end of the school year and making this one as a incase backup but then the latches ended up breaking, which was our first ever issue with it this whole time. We got it replaced with the warranty.

Bentgo customer service was very helpful and was able to replace it with the same one even though it wasn’t available online anymore. The support tech John was thoughtful in giving us an option realizing that the exact replacement would take two weeks to get to us or could send us another print choice and it would get here a lot sooner, since we use the bentgo box every day right now.

We were fine waiting as we had already ordered a third as a back up for next year when both girls are in school full time. Would definitely recommend and order these again.

Our Preschool stopped serving breakfast, lunch and snack about six months ago. We chose this type as our sons “breakfast box” since we usually send a warm breakfast while choosing the “chill” box for lunch.

We choose 2 of these in green. One is used that day the other is usually in the dishwasher or drying rack. We chose blue boxes for lunch, helpful for our child and Teacher to differentiate between. These have been used continuously since purchasing and they still look brand new.

They clean up really well and are sturdy. I love all the different sections. With toddlers having a nice variety of foods seems to help them eat more and this box allows for that. I have put yogurt, pancakes, sausage, eggs, fruit, etc.

and marshmallows in the tiny portion. Nothing ever ends up mixed together or spills into the other compartments. We LOVE these boxes… so much so we find ourselves using them on the weekends. Most meals that we get while running around town go uneaten by our toddler.

We starting packing this box with all of his favorites and not only are we are saving money, this is a healthier option and best of all he’s eating! The boxes have a bit of grip to them as well which is nice.

I purchased these two bentgo boxes for both my kids a few weeks into the school year, I honestly could not be happier! I searched and searched for hours through a variety of lunchboxes after many complaints for my kids of leaking and lunches getting mixed together! Honestly every site I looked into these bentgo boxes came so highly rated! So many parents like me in my same situation spoke so highly of these lunchboxes and so I figured I’d give it a shot! IM SO HAPPY I DID.

These lunchboxes are work every penny! Absolutely leak proof, no soggy food, so much room to pack lunch and snack and love the overall look! They fit amazingly in the kids lunch bags and both my children 4 and 6 have no issues opening and closing them.

On top of these lunchboxes being my absolute favourite by far bentgo customer service is absolutely phenomenal. I had a request to get some replacement parts (fault of my own) and with a few small email request and information bentgo rectified my concerns immediately.

My wife found these at Kohls while out shopping for the kids. At first I was like, nope…too pricey. However, after some convincing in my head, I set out to review the product and see why they are so expensive compared to similar products.

What I found was tons of positive reviews, an insane warranty and a product that fits my kids everyday needs for a lunch box. My daughter loves it! I like the divider which makes it easy to split small meals and larger ones depending on where we are going or for school.

My only complaint is that I wish the fresh had a chill like the Bentgo chill (I bought both). The fresh has more space for 1 of my kids and my younger one does just fine with the chill. All in all I would say the product is put together well and I’m sure will get the job done for years to come.

I purchased two of these to use for travel cigar humidors. The build of these boxes is much more robust with thicker gauge steel than I expected. I had only used bento boxes from TJ Maxx and Walmart before, which seem flimsy by comparison.

Honestly not sure if I’ll buy again, because at the time I hadn’t considered traveling with these thru airport security. While not an issue in itself to take, having a metal box show up on x-ray almost guarantees having your bag searched and I might go with plastic in the future.

Does function perfect for a mini cigar humidor tho, just throw in some foam padding and boveda packs. It even comes with the little tin so you can pack a cutter and lighter.

This lunchbox is good in terms of being leakproof. However, the size was completely inaccurate. I had wanted a 35 oz lunch box, which this item said it was originally. However when it arrived, it turned out it was only 24 oz.

I had specifically purchased this one because I wanted a 35 oz lunch box. The website was only updated because I let EcoZoi know about the problem. I asked for a refund but did not receive one. It sucks, because I really would just like a 35 oz lunch box.

I wish they would make one.

I like the size of this box. It looked partitioned in pic but has a smaller box that can be utilized for smaller snacks or salad dressing. Can easily fit a sandwich, snack and salad if using smaller box that comes with this lunch container.

If you work lunch and dinner hours it fits what you need fit a cold lunch.

I had a set of these previously and I really liked them. They fit a lunchbox nicely, were easy to clean, good size, and lasted over 2 years after near daily use before needing to be replaced. I bought these and the quality has really gone down from the last set.

Upon opening, one of the bases was already cracked. Then, after only one use another of the plastic bases had a piece break off. You can even feel the plastic is more brittle than the previous version.

Disappointing decline in quality and I would have been better off purchasing something that will last longer (especially if I have to use plastic). Will be looking for something else in the future.

We have used these “3 compartment containers” for a long time for our elementary-aged kids. There is a lot of space in the main compartment and best of all-everything stays where it should. The dry-snacks like chips or goldfish dont “migrate”the other compartments like they do in another brands.

I love it! This was exactly what I wanted. I have been packing cheese in one section, meat in another, a cut up apple in another and almonds in the last. This works great none of them touch and the juices do not run.

Purchased this about a year ago, and the welding on one of the hinges came apart. We have only ever hand washed this and it doesn’t take a lot of abuse so I was surprised that it broke. However, I sent photos to customer service via email and had a replacement coming within an hour under their warranty.

Even though expected more of the product itself for the price, it was one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had. Gave it four stars because sometimes the latches are a little finicky to get them to stay closed and they have a tendency to pop back open when you try to clip them closed.

This is just slightly annoying but hasn’t affected the lunchbox itself staying closed and it has never leaked in my daughter’s lunch bag. Juicy foods like watermelon do leak from one compartment in to the other compartment however.

The rest of it is perfect and still looks like the day we bought it, even though it is used daily. It is a good size and my daughter loves being able to see all her food and it is easy for a toddler to eat from like a plate.

I have recommended this to other parents in my daughter’s class and would continue to do so even though it did break.

I bought this a couple months ago, but didn’t have occasion to use it until recently. I have the Bentgo Microsteel. At first it looked a little small, but because it’s so deep I was able to cut a sandwich in half and stack the two halves.

Then I used silicone cupcake cups to hold grapes and a dip in the same partition as the sandwich. In the other half, I was able to fit celery sticks and a whole apple. It was way more food than my kid needed, but I was shocked that this container so easily accommodated all of it.

It stayed shut in her backpack but opened easily. Absolutely obsessed!.

I’ve been looking for a leakproof stainless box. We have a few other stainless bentos that were not leakproof. So far this one has been great. I have yet to try anything truly wet. But, we have used it for stuff like raspberries and crackers and cheese and everything stayed separate and dry and fresh.

Will purchase again when we need another one. And also, my 4 year old is able to open and latch this container by himself, which was important to me as I woudl like to use this as a lunch option next year in Kinder.

My 5 and nearly 2 year old have been enjoying the separation of food and the “unveiling”. I didn’t expect it to make such a difference but they’ve been eating healthier because of the way I am able to set out their food.

It’s a bit of a hassle to handwash, but I don’t want to risk degrading the image. I think it’s the perfect size for a 4 yr old plus for a full lunch. I would only opt for smaller for snack size. I chose yumbox over others because it has one latch, minimalist exterior, fun interior design, and I preferred its tray division.

I read reviews saying it’s heavy, which it isn’t IMO.

My boys, 2 and 4, can easily manage the locks themselves. Washing is super easy, we throw the insert into the dishwasher and hand wash the containers. Super sturdy, excellent quality product. Highly recommend.

I bought this to help me break my habit of using disposable plastic whenever I eat out. It’s a great container. I leave the container at work and use the silverware almost everyday at lunch. If I have leftovers or takeout, they can put the food in the container rather than using styrofoam.

It’s a good design with ample space. Definitely happy with the purchase.

I ordered this in hopes I could just take this on the go for work. Sometimes the ice pack doesn’t always fit inside of the container the way it’s supposed to. Also, be careful microwaving if you a small amount on one side.

Food was burnt in it and damaged the bottom on the inside.

I got this to take a sandwich and veggies and fruit to work in one container. This is perfect! Fruit and veggies on the dual side and sandwich on the other. Or for breakfast. bagel on one side and cream cheese and fruit on the dual side.

One could also use this for craft supplies or to keep diabetic supplies. syringes, lancets, and alcohol pads on the dual side and a tester, syringes, and insulin on the big side. Very versatile, no leaks when I used it, seals tightly, easy to open.

I bought these for my wife and I to use for lunch at work. They are just the best! It brings everything into one compact container. It’s made of quality material and is very sturdy. The latch snaps firmly with no worries of it opening accidentally.

I loved this Bento Box so much I purchased five of them. The compartments are really deep and can fit a lot inside. I am pregnant now and it’s quite handy because I have to eat healthy and frequently.

I will usually prepare a lunch in one bento and prepare a separate “Snack” bento with fruit, crackers, cheese, cut apples, and other goodies. It also helps with portion control so I don’t over do it.

I can fit a whole sandwich into the larger compartment if I cut it half and store the halves on their side. I also purchased small condiment containers for dips for veggies. My husband loves tuna for lunch.

The large compartment can fit a can of tuna so I will make three bentos for him once a week. I usually throw in a can or packet of tuna, salt and pepper and a small container of relish, onions and mayo in the bigger portion and veggies and fruit in the other small portions.

My husband mixes his own tuna salad right inside the bento and scoops it out with crackers. He likes that it is entirely self contained and easy to transport. I like that you can graze and store the rest in the fridge.

The food smell doesn’t get past the excellent seal, so, I do not have to eat whatever is inside right away. It is very easy to clean. It says dishwasher safe but I usually hand wash it just to make sure that the gaskets on the lid don’t get moldy.

I bought 4 of these containers (2 large, 2 small) last year. I always hand wash these but nonetheless the lids have stopped locking – one side would lock and the other wouldn’t no matter how I reseated the lid.

I don’t trust them to stay closed so we don’t use them anymore. Such a disappointment give how expensive these are.

I love my new Russbe container. I have been using it as my work lunch box as the spilt compartment design is perfect for multiple items. The seals are really good condition, allowing no leakage between compartments.

I have been putting in the dishwasher daily and have noticed no signs of wear and tear. Great quality!.

This salad bowl is perfect for its extra large size so you have enough room to put salad as well as toppings that are kept in a separate level. I like the fork and it is kept nicely on top of the lid.

The design is modern and sleek and the product is light for the size. I love all their color options and I had hard time which color to choose – finally went with aqua color. The only improvement it can be made is that the 4 compartment tray is not microwave friendly – I found this out after reading the user manual.

I sometimes like to warm up cooked meat that goes with the salad and if this feature can be applied, it would be a 10 start product!! Overall very quality product!.

I absolutely LOVE these salad bowls. I now own 4 of them. The roomy divided compartments keep all of your ingredients separate until time to eat. The dressing cup holds the perfect amount of dressing (up to about 4 tbsp).

And the thing I really love is that once you put all of your ingredients in and combine them using the sturdy built-in fork, the bowl is nice and deep. This allows you to thoroughly mix up your salad without salad spilling out all over the place.

Cleans up beautifully as well. I hope they come out in more of the softer colors, as I would love to add a couple more to my collection. That’s how much I love them! :-).

I have a few Bentgo containers and I use one of them everyday to bring my lunch to work. I think they are so great, I have bought them as gifts to share with family as well. This container works perfectly for a generous lunch or dinner salad.

I love how the separate compartments let me keep the ingredients all separate so they stay fresh, and I love the way the fork locks into the lid. The container is sealed and there are no leaks in my lunchbox.

The quality of this glass is amazing. It’s thick and has weight to it so it’s high quality. I love the top insert although I have not used it as I usually make my salad for work with all the fixings in it.

The dressing container is the perfect size and the lid seals tight so there is no leakage. I love this so much. I pretty much use it every day for work lunch. I also love how the fork snaps under the lid so you always have a utensil ready to chow down.

This is an excellent container and for those who pack their own food, I highly recommend it.

I bought this last week, used it once – worked great. Kept my lettuce fresh and separate from my toppings and dressing, nothing leaked and the fork worked surprisingly well! I put everything on the top rack in my dishwasher, while unloading I couldn’t find the dressing container.

Found it melted to the bottom. Contacted customer service after not finding a replacement container to buy online, asked about purchase options. Was contacted the same day, told they would send a new one! Very responsive and wasn’t expecting a replacement! Thank you so much!!.

Really, really nice. 1. The lid seems very well made, much better than the lid of the glass snack/lunch container which I purchased. 2. The container below the lid works great for toppings and dressing, though you don’t need to use it, and the included fork is fine *shrugs*.

3. The capacity of the main bowl is perfect for my salads. This gets 5 stars because the design/engineering seem to be on point. I do wish they offered a discount when buying any two of these salad bowls, so you could buy whichever colors you like, rather than the current 2 pack color option.

I recently bought an Ecozoi lunch box and have been using it almost everyday since! I have a 1 year old toddler so the 2-tier box is very helpful when it comes to on the go snacks! I can load one box with food for myself and the other with food for my toddler.

The stainless steel is durable, very easy to clean, and obviously it’s a more sustainable option than plastic storage containers. The lid with locking clips and the seal in between the boxes make for an air tight seal when closed, keeping the food fresh and clean while put away.

I love this product and again, being that it is made out of steel makes for longer lasting use of it!.

OMG, where do I begin. Let me just say I could not wait for the opportunity to review these very clever and well made products. I first bought the lunch container on Zulily and after getting it, I had to visit the website and proceeded to go on a shopping spree.

I bought the salad container, the soup container and two of the small snack containers. The silicon tops are well made and the plastic containers are sturdy and can be microwaved. The salad container comes with a cute little sealable container for the dressing.

Can’t wait to pack my lunch every night. You will not be disappointed with these gems.

Quality is excellent. I don’t quite like the compartments on the top part, but that’s just my preference. Easy to clean and fits a good size lunch and fits nicely in smaller bags too. Goes together into a smaller size when empty.

Only major issue is that it’s not watertight so can’t take soups and you will need a separate container for salad dressings.

Heavier duty than I expected which is nice. The gasket part seems durable too. I really love them. The one drawback is they seem difficult for children to open and close without snapping fingers. I just had my five-year-old open it by herself and that’s exactly what happened.

I can teach her to do it safely though. It might help to remove the gasket so it’s not under pressure but I haven’t tried it.

I will be honest and say I haven’t used my box yet but I can’t WAIT to do so! The size is absolutely perfect since I had the hardest time finding one that was big enough for a full meal to fit inside.

The clasps on the side are also what sold me; very tight and secure. Love the removable divider. My order came in a good amount of time (considering I’m in the US) and packaged with all recyclable or biodegradable materials.

I bought 4 of these containers for my kids to use as lunch boxes. I love that the lid seals, however it’s so tight when doing up clamps on the side and my kindergartner and 1st grader can’t do them up.

My 3rd grader can get it most of the time. To be honest, even I struggle clamping the lid on. Next, I love that there’s a divider, but I wish it was permanent. It does not stop leaks or crumbs between sections (as I expected), but what’s really frustrating is that it’s so loose that it constantly moves, shifts or falls over while their lunch is in their backpacks.

I’m wondering if I could get someone to weld the divider in place. The container is a great size for school lunches though, and I do love that it’s stainless steel.
