20 Best Leak Proof Hummingbird Feeder (2023 Updated)

HummZinger is So cute and simple to use. No big jar to clean. I’ve been fighting wasps in another feeder, can’t get in this one. Cleaned this, filled it up with sugar water, snapped on the top and screwed on the hanger! The hummingbirds took a little while to check it out but are happy now.

Wind doesn’t blow it all over either. We’re all very happy!.

So far the hummingbirds have preferred the feeders I have had out all summer rather than the HummZinger. I have only seen a few birds enjoying the nectar. But, the good news is that the wasps have not been interested in it which was the main reason I bought it.

I am hoping they become more interested in it before they leave for the season. It seems to be a good quality product as well as an attractive addition to my small collection of feeders.

These hummingbird feeders are the best I have ever purchased. They don’t drip, are easy to clean and fill and have ant moat. Very sturdy plastic and the metal hanger is stationary which makes hanging a breeze.

Hummers can be seen and stand on the footrests, so cute. You will not regret purchasing these feeders.

My hummers love the small pinch waist ones and these are just as good, just in a large size. Easy to clean. Easy to fill. My hummers like the angled ports and perches. I bought 5 of them to feed my 40+ hummers.

I have tried many others and this is a keeper. Finally I don’t have to fill my feeders every 2 hours. These last at least 8 hours in peek feeding season. You will not be unhappy with these feeders.

I had one last year and it got knocked down and broke so I finally found it again, the stores dont carry it anymore. My hummers love it!! Very good quality! Definitely recommend!

I just love bird watching and it is a special treat to catch a hummingbird in action. This feeder definitely attracts hummingbirds to it and it adds a bit more colour to your garden as well. It is easy to fill and easy to clean.

With proper care this could last years. It is well worth the money and I would definitely recommend to family and friends.

I purchased this Hummzinger feeder to replace an older Hummzinger feeder that had developed a crack, and started to leak. This feeder is exactly what I was looking for, but couldn’t find in a local shop.

My hummingbird friends come right to it. It is designed to keep out bees and other insects, and doesn’t leak, like the inverted bottle-type feeders. It is also very easy to empty and clean. Thanks!!!.

Our birdie was a little suspicious to this new feeder but couple days later he is all over it! They can actually land on the top and take time to eat. He keeps coming and drinking sweet juice. He loves it, I love it too! Very durable, nicely made and easy to load and clean up.

The wire stem on this product is made of brass, not copper. As ants are often a problem with hummingbird feeders, you should make sure the wire stem is made of copper, because ants will not cross it, and it will prevent ant problems.

The vendor should be upfront (assuming they know about copper’s anr-repelling properties) and state whether the stem is made of copper or some other material. As this was recommended to me by a friend, I didn’t think until after I’d ordered to ask about the stem metal.

While this feeder functions just fine, I may have to wrap fine copper wire around the crook and stem to prevent ants.

Bought this feeder 12/23/20. Received on 1/11/21. Worked great for a week. Has not stopped leaking since. Nectar all over the ground underneath. Attracting ants. The first two I tried leaked from the day I got it.

This one didn’t attract one hummingbird. Have hung from a tree. Put on a table in the back and in the shade. Have put in the shade in a window frame up front. Nothing works. Tried different levels of nectar in it in case something to that.

Have tried plain water this last week so not leaking sweet nectar all over. Doesn’t last 1/2 of a day. Check out other website reviews regrding this model before trying it out. Too bad, I like it.

It’s good, it holds lots and doesn’t leak or drip. Hummingbirds come to it and like it. but if you have it hanging somewhere where you are watching the hummingbirds, The bottom red part blocks you being able to see the birds on the other side and you really only see one bird at it at a time.

So not for me.

The mechanism in the feeder bowel actually restricts the flow of nectar to the bottom. I have to keep tapping/shaking the feeder to get the flow going, which makes the outside sticky and attracts wasps.

Not a good design at all – I wish I had returned it but no longer have the receipt.

I bought these because my hummingbird population explodes over migration times and I needed larger feeders. I have 6 of the 16 oz feeder from First Nature; 4 of these larger ones. This feeder from First Nature is the best I have found – both sizes.

The birds go to them right away – a few seconds of, “What is this new thing hanging up in my feeding space???” and then they dive for it. Both sizes. Due to winds I have had a couple of “falls” – survived them with no damage.

They stay relatively cool when the temp outside is triple digits which means the hummers can still get their food without it being “cooked”. VERY easy to clean – which I do every time I fill the feeders (max every 2 days if the weather is cool – every day otherwise – more often if the “kids” flood in for feeding).

I just really like them – they are easy to use, easy to clean, durable. I highly recommend. So far I have 10 of them between the 16 oz and 32 oz. The hummers USE these feeders, they are easy to care for and this is what works for me.

There is a design problem with this type of feeder; in order to fill the clear cylindrical reservoir you tip it upside down, fill it and then screw on the red base. Then, when you turn it right-side up the sugar water squirts out of the feeding slits, soaking your hands and making a sticky mess.

The other issue is you can’t tell when it is empty. So you have to unscrew the cylinder from the base when the feeder is right side up because if you turn it upside down (like you did when filling) you have another sticky mess as any remaining liquid spills out.

And if you unscrew the cylinder right side up and there is liquid in the cylinder (which you can’t see) you have another sticky mess. Tired of feeding the ants. Returning it.

I always have hummingbirds each year and two feeders have always been enough. That ALL changed this year and I couldn’t keep up, so another feeder was needed. by “popular demand”! I chose this one and am very pleased with its construction, ease of cleaning and for sure the large container.

This brand is new to me, but so pleased I took the chance. I will remember First Nature for any future needs.

I *really* wanted to give this a good review. It is a lovely, sturdy feeder and the top loading is very easy and convenient. Was excited to get it and hang it up on one of our garden crooks. Filled it half-way and within 15 minutes our hummers were visiting.

But, after a few hours I noticed a problem…the nectar was already gone. We only have 3 hummers at the moment and there was no reason for that much nectar to be used that quickly. That much nectar should have lasted at least a week or longer.

I sat and watched the feeder and noticed the problem – every time a bird landed on the garden crook the feeder was hanging from, or anytime the wind blew, nectar would drip out in a thick stream. Investigated further and it appears there is a design flaw in the base.

The base isn’t wide enough and the “flowers” are positioned too low on the base and at too steep an angle and this allows the nectar to collect in the “petals” then drip and pour out any time the feeder is even slightly disturbed.

I moved it my sturdiest garden crook, thinking it might swing less, and still had the same problem – the wind would blow and nectar would start streaming out of the “flowers” as the feeder would swing in the breeze.

I ended up setting it on a pedestal on my porch. The feeder being on a flat surface stopped the leaking, but unfortunately my hummingbirds will not come on the porch to use it. It really is a gorgeous item, but unless you have a level spot to put it (higher than waist level because hummers don’t like flying too low to eat) it is useless as a feeder, especially if you live in a windy area.

Really wish the company that makes them would re-engineer the base to be a bit wider and flatter and the “flowers” to sit on the base flat, or maybe move the “flowers” higher up on the base, instead of at a low steep angle.

This would solve the leaking problem. If this flaw was fixed I would gladly buy the improved version as it is a lovely and decorative feeder. Photos attached showing how the nectar collects in the bottom “petals” of the “flowers” before pouring out.

Gravity is not this feeder’s friend. ☹.

I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that Walmart now carries EZNectar and I can purchase it at my local store! I tried EZNectar after hearing about it on Facebook a couple of years ago! The fast feeders are great for traveling and popping out a hummingbird feeder wherever you are! Being a bird conservationist, myain concern about hummingbird nectar is the safety for the birds.

All of the other nectars that are carried at Walmart contain harmful dyes and preservatives which over time of bombarding a hummingbirds little system can cause real damage. EZNectar contains only sucrose and water, the key ingredients in real flower nectar.

Bravo EZnectar for making a safe product and bravo Walmart for making it available at such convenience and low price! I have also used the page 33 oz cartons. See that review for further comments.

Took a while for birds to find it. Had it on a shepherd’s hook away from everything. Then as it was tilting did not see any birds by it so went out to check and ANTS had crawled up the pole and gotten into the feeder.

Was very annoyed with them as it is a bit on the pricey side and not get full use out of it.

I saw the birds in our yard but they were not interested in our feeder. They would check our previous feeder but would not feed. Now they feed all day and before dawn with EZ-nectar. I call it the hummingbird juice box.

They love it.

The feeder works fine, though the part that holds the nectar is very thin plastic. My only complaint is that the bottom does not come apart for cleaning. There’s no way to get to the inside of it. I try to use a brush to clean my feeders when I put fresh nectar in them.

Even the really cheap one I got at a local store, came apart for cleaning. Used it for a short time, and went back to using my old one.

I using my 4 new hummingbird feeders to the delight of my feathered friends. The cost was the lowest on the internet & they were shipped promptly. They’re scattered about my property & became instant attractions.

Nice size and a nice way to have you and ur kids bird watch or specifically hummingbird watch. You can get these in different sizes and we have seen 3 to 6 hummingbirds at a time on ours we always forget to take pictures because we are in such awe of how cute and little they are.

Watch for the ones that come with are were little pirch so they can sit.

Truth is hummingbird feeding is a commitment. Food must be changed at least every 3 days, sooner if weather is hot, and feeders must be cleaned. I’ve tried a lot of feeders over the years. Initially, I was drawn to the ones with beautiful art-glass globes, trinkets, and other trappings of aesthetics.

However, after years of trying different feeders, the looks became far less appealing than the function. The prettiest feeders were often the hardest to keep clean and drew the most pests. The Aspects saucer feeders are the most functional feeders out there, deterring ants, bees, and other insects, and are a breeze to keep clean.

They are comparable in cost to the ones with better looks but less functionality. If one is going to feed these beautiful creatures, they are owed consistent and sanitary care that is made far more manageable with these feeders.

As a life long droll Yankee patron whose last feeder crashed and burned in a recent bit of turbulent weather I opted to venture out and explore what other options were available for my humming bird visitors.

I came across the HummZinger 430 mini high view feeder and it just made sense. The feeder was waiting for me when I got home. My current feeder was about empty (the gang has been drinking it dry every day) I rinsed off the new HummZinger, filled it, hung it and it was an instant success.

For once the girls are able to land, sit comfortably and enjoy a cool drink. They turely are enjoying it. The only downside is they seem to be consuming the nectar at a quicker pace. glad I have the 12oz HummZinger model in route.

Definitely a better design than the previous feeders I have been utilizing. Good job Aspects, made in the USA!.

I wanted so much to love this feeder! It’s beautiful, it holds a good supply of nectar, and of course it’s easy to fill. But, the problem is, the nectar slowly leaks out so that the ants on my deck are getting more nectar (albeit in small drips) than the birds are.

Usually when I read reviews like this, I assume the person has done something wrong because there’s no reason for a feeder to leak if it has the necessary gaskets to prevent leakage. I checked all the usual places where I could have made a mistake.

But, all the seals are tight, and it looks like it should work perfectly. Yet, each day, there’s a new puddle under the feeder and the level of nectar is decreasing far faster than it should for the number of birds I’m seeing there.

I’m not going to give up because I love the idea of this feeder and it’s lovely. However, alas, I want the hummingbirds, not the ants, to get the nectar! For now, it’s still cool in Oregon so the ant population is not going insane.

If and when I find a fix for this problem, I’m update my review to a five-star one.

I actually give it a 5 star but the birds don’t visit it probably due to pale coloring. It’s a top water loading system, which is nice. Bought the blue and red feeders and the birds will utilize these 2.

They fly over to the pale one and back off of it to feed off the darker glass feeders. I might suggest putting the food coloring to darken the feeder and see if the birds will utilize it. I don’t have food coloring so we just left it on the tree to see if they will use it.

I love the large opening and it’s a top loader. You don’t waste the sugared water. I liked it because I could see the water level at a distance to replenish it. I’ll try the colored water to see if this makes a difference in there using it.

This Perky-Pet Lavender Field Top-Fill Glass Hummingbird Feeder is absolutely adorable!! I filled it up as soon as I got it and hung it outside of the back porch on this really nice plant holder, so we can sit and watch the hummingbirds come to the feeder all day.

This is the prettiest hummingbird feeder I can ever remember seeing! When I was younger, my father had all kinds of bird feeders in the back yard. Every day we would make sure there was enough nectar for the humming birds, food for the other birds and I thought it was the grandest thing! Now our grandson sits and loves watching the beautiful hummingbirds coming to our feeder! He just loves when the hummingbirds come and get the nectar.

The feeder has a top fill opening, so there is easy filling and no-mess filling. It holds up to 16oz of nectar. The feeder has optimized ports and flowers for easy and comfortable nectar access. It also has a sealed base design that minimizes leaks and comes apart for easy cleaning.

The feeder care says to hand wash with warm water and soap twice a week. The filling instructions are to remove lid, pour the nectar into bottle and replace lid and hang feeder. It is all really simple and it is such a pretty feeder.

My entire family loves it! Yes, I will definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone who loves the hummingbirds! It is a beautiful site to see everyday.

Early in the season, when I realized out old window feeder was broken, I ordered this. It comes with 3 ways to mount – hook hanger, a pole to mount, and a suction cup ring for window mount. The feeder is bigger than my previous window-mount.

Add the weight of the clear plastic ring. It just seemed to be very heavy to be held by one suction cup (though it IS a large, generous size suction cup). I was worried about it losing suction on the window because of the combined weight, so I gifted it to my daughter to be used as a hanging feeder.

So, although I never used it for the window feature, it seemed to be a nice dish type feeder.

This is overall a great little hummingbird feeder. It opens easily for cleaning and refilling by twisting the top (red) portion. I like the option of being able to switch it out from a hanging to a stalk feeder and the ability to use it as a window feeder would be great too.

Unfortunately, the suction cup used for window feeder mode is really bad. The suction cups on all four of my feeders were warped. I’ve had one stay on my window while the other one refuses to to stick and has fallen twice (the other two were intended to be hanging feeders in the backyard).

I get a little bit of spillage everytime I refill the feeder. I think it’s coming out from between the top (red) disc and the clear bottom. It’s typically less than the wastage I used to get from the Perky Pets window feeder when I’d flip it over for hanging (maybe half a teaspoon).

It’s early in the season so I have yet to catch a hummingbird feeding at this new feeder but am anxiously waiting for them to discover it.

This feeder is small so it won’t be good if you have a very active yard. We tried it on the fence and now have it in the window. If you want it on the hook then it would have to be screwed in or to unhook it every single time.

I love that the base just stays attached wherever you have it and you just lift up the middle with the syrup in it. Easy to clean. Easy to see the level of the liquid through the clear base. Now I just wish I saw the hummingbirds using it but we were without for so long that they’ve forgotten to come by.

That’s ok though, we are patient people.

I had this hanging beneath my porch and had to move to the garden area due to the mildew that forms from droplets of nectar. The hummers love it as well as my neighbors. New visitors ask, ” What is that? It is beautiful!” The dripping as another person commented can be cured by putting your finger over the bottle as soon as the bottle is inverted and slightly adjusting the “stamens” of the “flower”.

This has been on QVC for years but so few reviews and never a video or shown on a garden show. Cannot order what I can’t see for the price. Please do more real garden shows without the nicknacks of a 3 month solar flower nobody really wants.

Feeding birds are the heart of garden shows. Cannot recommend as most reviews are from 2005.

I thought it had more than one feeder. It is bright and cute but apparently hummingbirds don’t agree with me as I haven’t seen a single one hanging around!

This is a great feeder. Hummingbirds started using it within 5 minutes of hanging! Wide mouth for easy cleaning. Deep rim on base for top to seat securely & no drips. White flowers do not attract the bees, and no bees get into the feeder.

I have mason bees, so I checked daily for the past two weeks, no bees. The base is clear and makes it easy to know when to clean & refill. Has an ant moat – I live where it is hot & windy, so moat could be deeper.

Remedied by hanging on a copper hook. The hanger fell off every time I filled it, easy fix, but should be already secure. So far it is the Hummingbirds 2nd favorite feeder. 1st being their Amethyst jewel Hummingbird feeder w/glass bottle.

Overall I like the feeder. It has not leaked so far. I’ve tried those with the gaskets and found the gasket doesn’t last long and it became a source for mold. The birds seem to like it a lot. My only negative point is the ports are.

a little too large. I’m getting quite a number of flying insects going thru the port and I find them floating in the nectar. Rarely have I found insects in my other feeders. Overall, I would buy this feeder again.

Very easy to clean.

I used this feeder for a hummingbird season, so 2021. It was great, I found much joy and birds! By the end of the season though the metal part begin to rust and I didn’t want to harm the birds. I love this feeder so much, and I will continue using “more birds” products, but please consider making a plastic top, or even better, stainless steal.

Would purchase. Better quality, less waste.

I’ve been a fan of glass hummingbird feeders, but they were always difficult to clean. This feeder is perfect. Very easy to take apart and clean. No cheap plastic to crack. Perfect capacity. not too much, not too little.

Unfortunately, the glass cracked when I got too impatient and filled it with hot nectar. (I won’t do it again!) Looked online for a replacement jar, but none available. I ordered another, but kept the bottom parts in case a jar ever became available.

Please, can you get these in stock?.

This hummingbird feeder is made from copper, glass, and plastic. The container that holds the nectar is made from glass and the top lid and and the top of the lower unit is made from copper. The bottom of the lower unit is made from plastic.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the bottom unit comes apart for easy cleaning. I have another hummingbird feeder that does not, which makes it difficult to clean. I like also that the nectar container is straight up and down with no curves.

This also makes it so much easier to clean than my other curved one. The feeder has 5 ports and perches. My only concern was the color. I make my own syrup from sugar and water, so I thought that the feeder may not have enough red color to attract hummingbirds.

I do have another hummingbird feeder that is red, but I decided to test this one without the other feeder. The feeder got plenty of birds, so much so, that after a couple of days, I put out the other feeder.

I now have more traffic than last year. I am very happy with this feeder. The good quality should give me many years of use.

I love this design! More importantly, the hummers like it too! We have a lot of varieties of feeders but this is our first long, tall design. What I like about this feeder: •THE DESIGN! •Easy to clean because of the glass and wide mouth.

•Glass – plastic does not last in our CA heat and our hummers don’t seem to like plastic anyway! And it’s pretty! •Metal base – yes, the metal may rust from the water. When cleaning, use steel wool to remove rust.

•Wide mouth – easy to clean and fill Note on Clear Glass: Almost all of our feeders are red so we had to attract the hummers to this one so they would make it one of their regular feeders. Normally, I make my own uncolored sugar water.

For clear glass, we purchased a red colored “ready to use” nectar (Homestead brand) with no red dye. It only took one fill and the hummers started coming and then it was back to homemade!.

I have not used this one as of yet because the hummingbirds have not returned to Ohio. I currently own a copper one very similar to this that is at least 15 years old. It is the first one I fill each spring and the one I must fill most often.

The solution never sits in it long enough to turn milky or go rancid. I am hoping the new one will have the same results.

My wife filled the Jug Hummingbird Feeder with Vintage Glass Bottle, 23 oz capacity back in mid-March with some sugared water. With some cold weather injecting itself into our location (upstate South Carolina), it has been “scouts” so far finding the Feeder.

He mostly stays only a few seconds. I’ve noticed he fights off other scouts, but he’s been here before. We call him “Redneck” as he has a red band near his head. The feeder is hung under an eave outside our screened-in porch in the back of the house.

This is mid-April now so we’ll see how the feeder is frequented as we approach Summer.

In preparation for my hummers’ return at our new home in NC, I got a new feeder because my old one was damaged in our recent move. It’s well made—no plastic—and didn’t cost an arm and a leg like feeders from other vendors.

Since we’re in a new house, I feared the local hummers might take a while to try mine out. Silly worry on my part; they found it right away likely due to the red bottle. Depending on the flying traffic it’s generating, I might have to buy a second to keep the little birds happy.

Unfortunately, it’s still too early for hummers in North Carolina, but I have no doubt it will attract them. I like the wide mouth of the bottle portion; makes filling easy. Well constructed and sturdy.

Parts fit together well. I should have birds sipping nectar from it soon, usually by mid April.

This feeder is great in as much as there is no metal to produce rust like a lot of other feeders. It is easy to fill once you find out the top is not the place to remove and the bottom on mine almost required an act of God to remove the first time.

After that it is easy. The worst part of this feeder is the stupid S hook that you are supposed to use to suspend this feeder from the rafters or whatever you use to suspend it. You will need to get busy and either rebend the S hook so it stays connected to the top or find a new piece of wire to make a hook that stays in place while you try to hang the feeder from something up high enough to make the humming birds comfortable.

It’s not really serious and the average person can probably take care of this problem. I just think that with a product this good, the maker should rethink the mount. It is the best feeder I have tried so far.

When I purchased our first Diamond Feeder some years ago, I did exhaustive research looking for a BPA free feeder, but was unable to find one. I also noted after using that one, that the ports were rough and collected what I hoped was debris or mold.

I am extremely pleased that More Birds now produces the Diamond Feeder in BPA free plastic, and the new silicone ports are soft for the tiny birds beaks and tongue! I only wish that More Birds had the 7 ports of older model, rather than 5, but the wrap around perch is a good improvement.

I do wish a replacement glass container was offered, if even at a premium. This is still, and more so now, the best hummingbird feeder out there—thank you, More Birds!.

I bought this hummingbird feeder for two of my Grandchildren. They are ages four and two years, the perfect ages to be awed by the little winged wonders. The feeder fell well within my budget and yet shows like a feeder of a much higher price.

Most importantly for the health of the hummers, the base comes apart for easy and thorough cleaning and the nectar reservoir is glass, permitting easy washing with hot soapy water and equally easy rinsing.

An additional bonus is the built in moat on the top that discourages ants and ‘wigs from invading. On a future iteration, the designers might wish to consider a deeper moat. The children and Grandchildren love it and boy does it get great results, they had so many hummers visiting their neighbours were jealous.

The Aspects 367, HummZinger Ultra, 12 oz. is well made & very sturdy. I feel it is a little over-priced being made of plastic, but the special features of Nectar-Guard tips on feeding ports & the ant-moat may make it worth the cost.

You do have to remember to keep the ant-moat filled with water, when hot weather cause evaporation. It is a little hard to pull the top off to refill, but it does not leak or drip. Perhaps a ridged spot on either side of base would help to grip it to pull apart? This is my first hummingbird feeder & I haven’t had any hummingbirds show up yet after 3 weeks, but it is early in season, so will have to wait see if birds use like it.

Overall, I am very pleased with it & would recommend it.

Extremely easy to disassemble and clean. Feeds the Hummers like it’s supposed to. Did not install the guards yet but will eventually. Have the built in ant moat plus another hanging above that definitely keeps the ants at bay.

Squirrels knocked it off the post once – it hit the ground and is still intact, so I would have to say it’s pretty well made since it didn’t crack or self destruct. I changed to a more secure hook arrangement to prevent that from happening again.

Since it’s center of gravity is low, it stays pretty stable in the wind. Impressed that it keeps out the rain also.

It’s crazy, but I’ve had a few different feeders out this spring, and had very few hummingbirds. They went for the flowers instea:). But I shelled out a few extra bucks for a hummzinger, and within one day I have to count on 2 hands how many times I’ve seen them feed on my feeder.

A week later, and this feeder is already a daily beacon for the hummingbirds that frequent my garden. I had 3 at once feeding today. I’ve never seen that with any other feeder. Pricy for mostly plastic, but clearly the company knows how to attract hummingbirds;).

I LOVE these feeders!! I’ve had over a dozen different types of hummingbird feeders over the past several decades & these are BY FAR the best! Other feeders are hard to clean or made of plastic or have metal trays that rust.

The saucer shaped glass makes this feeder very easy to clean & the glass doesn’t fade like other colored glass feeders I’ve had. After buying one several years ago, I bought two more of these & threw out all my other feeders! When I saw Blain’s had them on sale I bought two more to give as gifts.

This feeder is not only BEAUTIFUL but it is very well made. It will last a lifetime! The company that makes them sells replacement flowers & rubber gaskets if you ever need to replace those. My hummingbirds LOVE these feeders!.

It’s a nice hummer feeder. The top comes off easily for cleaning and refilling. The hummers really like it. I have it on my ft. porch, by my window so I get the extra benefit of when the sun shines on it, I get a stained glass look on my dining room table!.
