20 Best Law Enforcement Duty Belt (2023 Updated)

I was looking for a good belt for my toolbelt. Out of four belts I bought online this is the best. I didn’t like the plastic belt buckle and replaced it with the metal one. You can hold this belt at one end and extend it out like a tape measure and it doesn’t flop down.

Just what I was looking for.

I recently purchased this belt to replace the duty belt provided to me by my employer(an off brand Nylon belt bought online). Already this belt has shown to excel. The buckle system keeps my belt secure throughout the day, preventing any accidental releases.

The nylon duty belt is sturdy enough to maintain its shape, even while loaded with gear and off of the body. However it isn’t so thick to make it heavy or unable to form to your body. I am a fan of this belt and will likely replace it with the same model when needed.

The interior velcro belt secures the duty belt well and doesnt cause the belt to sit too far off of the body as some velcro inners do. That said I am not a fan of the belt keepers. The belt keepers are aesthetically a good look, however the velcro interior is clumsily stitched to the nylon belt keeper.

The velcro is not centered and has random overhang. Along with this the stitching is already coming undone. I recommend this belt for the above mentioned, however I feel that 5. 11 should rework how they manufacture the belt keepers to provide a more clean and quality product.

I have had this belt for about 2 months of almost daily wear for work. Much like almost every other review, the sizing is way off. I read the reviews beforehand, and thought “well, I’m a 34 waist, and the medium goes up to 34, so I’m sure medium will be fine.

” oh boy was it a close one. At its tightest, it is just barely the small enough for me. Depending on how much I’m wearing, or how big of a breakfast I had, it either fits just right, or is a little loose.

Whatever you do, do not buy the right size for yourself, get a size smaller. My only other complaint is that the new Sierra Bravo belt has the opposite velcro layout as the older Sierra Bravo. On the old one, the inner belt was soft, and the outer belt was soft.

on the new belt, its the other way around. “but why does that even matter” well, if you plan on buying the Zero G plates from 5. 11, they are made for the older Sierra Bravo belt, which means that if you get the plates, and the 2.

25 belt like i did, you are going to have the hard velcro of the plates rubbing against the hard velcro of the inner belt. doesnt really do a great job at holding. Other than those two problems, its a pretty decent belt.

If you are smart enough to get a size smaller, and dont plan on using the Zero G plates, I would recommend.

So, this is a $40 belt, inner belt, belt keeper combo. If you’re looking for something highspeed, this isn’t it. The included belt keepers, were trash. I have some Uncle Mike’s that my department issued me that I use instead of the 5.

11 ones. Like. immediately throw them away. The inner belt is eh. There is no tightening device on it so as tight as you manage to get it is what you get. Because it has no tightening device, where the two ends loop over each over, it makes the belt SUPER thick.

So thick that you have to let out the actual duty belt in order to accommodate for it. Lastly, the velcro – hook & loop/pile whatever, on the inner belt is decent, but it definitely needs the belt keepers.

The duty belt itself is moderately stiff. I run a double cuff, MK4, CPR mask, key retention, glove pouch, a flashlight and radio/pouch daily and sometimes a Glock 23/Serpa 3, and a double mag pouch. It hasn’t bent too bad but it needs support.

Bought these at $10. 00 but check every once in a while on here, they have have sales for half that. Good strong belt. Well made belt and tough plastic buckle, stiff nylon webbing which stays that way (2 years for me).

Colors are great (black, tan, green) I have 1 of each. Highly recommend.

I bought one a year or two ago and it was amazing! I recently bought two more, and they apparently went through a design change and now they are just ok. They are harder to adjust and the buckle bites into my stomach when I sit down in a way that the older one does not.

Overall still a good belt.

I bought this duty belt at least eight years ago because leather just wasn’t holding up very well and it was significantly lighter than the old leather belt. I am a Bike Patrol Officer and needed to shave off a few ounces or more; this was just the ticket to reduce weight.

Since purchased, it hardly shows any wear and has no need to be replaced any time soon. The Velcro hooks are still working well, and the plastic buckle is every bit as good as the first day I used it.

I rarely ever give anything a five star review, but I can not think of any way this belt could be improved upon, so it definitely deserves a five star rating from me.

Pretty good belt overall, I like that the velcro is correct on it as opposed to other belts. It’s a little thick however and hard to put tools onto it. The leather is also kind of thin on the outside.

For the money, it’s pretty decent.

I have an older 5. 11 Tactical TDU belt (1. 75 width, ordered 06/2009) that is thicker in comparison to this Tru-Spec belt. I do not know whether newer 5. 11 TDU belts are still the same thickness or not.

That belt has held up well and I imagine these new Tru-Spec belts will as well. The Tru-Spec belts were much more reasonable in price at time of order while on sale for under $10 compared to the 5. 11 TDU’s.

I ordered three (black, khaki, green). The green is on backorder so still waiting for that one to ship. Since my waistline has expanded over the years, I decided to purchase 5X belts (which are way too big) since the price was the same as the smaller belts.

I can always trim them if desired or just have them going around my waist 1. 5 times offering more support for hanging things. I likely have two dozen belts of various types in my closet which are now useless to me as they are sized for “skinny athletic” men.

Unfortunately I am no longer in that category. I guess I should give them to Goodwill and get them out of my closet. Moral of the story = buy belt sizes you will never ever outgrow and then you never have to buy belts ever again! I swear these are the last belts I will ever purchase!.

Great Belt, I purchased in the 1. 75 in width and XXL length in the Tan. Nice Sand tan color. I wear about 40waist 41- 42 for full flexible comfort and this belt worn at that gauge leaves a good 10-12 surplus past the exit of the buckle.

I like a good amount of excess for adjustability and to feed back through loops. The hardware is a very smooth strong plastic. Something akin to a Nylon-ABS-hard plastic combo. The webbing is strong and very flexible.

I have the 5. 11 belt of the same design and it is very rigid on purchase. This belt DID begin to fray ever so slightly on the loose heat sealed end. I traced the tapered end of my 5. 11 cut about 1/2off the end of the Truspec and sealed with a hot clothes iron to avoid char-marks of a lighter burn seal.

Never a problem again. Belt is sturdy and stays in place whether it is on jeans, pants,shorts and even a a light items duty belt use over clothing. I could easily recommend at twice the price and I think it is a real value for a multipurpose (maybe not with a Tux) belt.

Get all the colors, I plan to!.

Purchased this pistol belt to carry my metal detecting equipment. this is a solid belt and it works perfect for the equipment i carry with me. now i can just un-clip it when i’m done and snap it back on when i’m ready to go out again.

either way this is a very sturdy belt.

Can’t beat it, for the price. Needed a “utility belt” to hang a holster on for yard work. Fits the need. Would buy again.

I bought this 2″ OD green belt to carry a pistol holster and double mag pouch. It works great for that. Double velcro ends are infinitely adjustable, it’s very sturdy and the buckle seems durable. Typical UTG great value.

I normally do not do reviews but I’m so disappointed that I felt I had to on this belt and buckle. Firstly I ordered the a 38” and needed a 36”, the 38” had Velcro inside to hook to an inner belt. The 36” came without Velcro, I emailed Blauer to find out why but Blauer did not reply.

Secondly the holes that the buckle locks into are separating, the outer nylon has pulled away from the hard inner material which allows the pegs in the buckle to ride up on top of the inner material.

When this happens the buckle opens up a little which locks it in place and it will not unlock until it gets closed all the way again. I’m not sure if the buckle failed or the belt but either way it’s a bad situation.

If anything were to happen and you were not responsive, any responder trying to help you would have to cut the belt off, there is no way they could figure out how to get it off. I would have tried to work with Blauer but it seems they do not care enough to respond to any problems.

This belt is not the first time I’ve tried to contact Blauer about issues with their products and did not receive a reply.

This belt combined with the Defender belt buckle is exactly what I’ve been looking for. A few years back our department switched from a traditional Sam Browne belt to nylon. Having been one to thread my leather belt through the pant loops for comfort and professional look, I found it difficult to do the same with a common nylon belt.

Mostly in that I could never get the belt to a consistent fit but with the pre defined notches on the Defender belt with half inch increments, I was able to correct the issue and would most highly recommend this product for either style of wear; but as the website says, order a size or two larger than you regular pant size.

I had to make some new holes to get the right fit but the system is still great. Thank you Blauer!!!.

Best belt ever! I didn’t realize how terrible ny previous belt was, until I bought this one. Everything stays in place and I can barely feel it when I’m working. Feels so light but strong and sturdy at the same time.

Amazing! Worth every penny! Makes my uniform much less of a nuisance!.

This was a Christmas gift for my son & he really liked it. Although I ordered it rather late, it arrived quickly & I couldn’t have asked for better quality! He commented he preferred this belt as it was far more comfortable than the same width leather belts.

This type of belt is new for me. I’m used to the older style with a metal clip in front (8yrs). I have to say, I am extremely impressed and sad I didn’t go to this type of belt sooner. The inner belt grabs the velcro securely and helps take some of the weight off of your hips.

It’s light and was surprisingly easy for me to attach my gear. The front clip is awesome and attaches securely. I was apprehensive at first but I’ve worn it for a couple of days now and after a 12hr shift it doesn’t feel uncomfortable and weighted down on your hips like the old belt system.

I was thinking of going to suspenders but I might hold off now that I have this belt. At least for now until I see how the velcro wears on the inner belt.

Love it! It looks and feels extremely well made and very robust. Just received, so no time to comment on functionality or longevity. The buckle is difficult to lock, and more difficult still to unlock.

As disappointing as that is, I still love the system.

This is of good quality not great quality. Alot of the pockets are there and all are slide-on the belt style. Meaning you must slide the belt thru the belt loop, you can’t open the loop to put the utility pocket on the belt.

Nobody can open a loop on u and take a pocket from your belt either. I had to cut some stitches on the gun holster just to get a 9 mm in it! It was sewn so far closed that no handgun would fit inside it.

I don’t get that one. Otherwise the pockets were nice, purpose made for most things you need. The baton pocket needs to be deeper I think. You can add or subtract things with this belt as u like but this is a great starting platform.

These price on this allows you choices to use or not to us from this belt.

IVE BEEN WEARING MY OLD BELT SINCE RETIRING IN 2008. IT STILL IS HOLDING UP, BUT IT LOOKS A LITTLE WEATHERED. I BOUGHT THIS BELT AND WAS VERY IMPRESSED. GREAT QUALITY AND FIT. LOOKS REALLY GOOD, WITH A HEAVY DUTY BUCKLE.

ORDER ONE SIZE BIGGER THAN YOUR WAIST SIZE, PERFECT FIT. ORDERED A SECOND ONE, JUST TO HAVE.

I expected a sturdy holster belt. This belt is great for holding up one’s pants but will easily twist with lop-sided weight of a holster. With IWB (appendix) holster, sitting in a car pushes holster up and weight of pistol twists it out.

This requires readjusting the whole thing every time I get up from a seated position or it prints. And that calls attention to that area and possibly the holster-pistol combination. Not acceptable for holster use.

Also, am never sure where an OWB holster will be especially if its angle has changed.

So I’ve been using this belt everyday just about since 2020. It has held up well to daily concealed carry use and range use. The belt is made of solid material and I imagine it holding up got years to come.

I have two gripes, both are due to being a more lean guy: 1) The buckle is pretty bulky. I carry appendix and if I’m wearing a slim cut shirt, the belt buckle protrudes through my close with the added girth of a gun and holster.

2) Or can ride up a bit in the back which calls for occasional readjusting. But with all the cheap garbage that’s out today, especially with belts, this one does what it’s supposed to, but can be a bit cumbersome for thin guys.

Needing some gardening pants as the Spring planting season arrives pointed to 5. 11. Although some shipping delays, no one’s fault, I was immediately pleased with the pants. This was the first time that I purchased from 5.

11. I had to research what is an “EDC” pocket; the pants has two of them 🙂 The fit was exactly what I needed. Having an expandable waist is helpful when bending in the garden. My only suggestion would be for one or two deep pockets without a flap allowing tools to be easily placed and removed.

Would I purchase another pair of these pants. you betcha’.

Excellent quality, fair price, outstanding service. What more are you looking for!? The actual rating on the belt left some questions so while performing some bailout training, I tested it myself. Using a belay line and harnessfor safety, of course, I made a 30′ rappel using the belt.

I’m 6′ tall, weigh 220 lb, and was in full turnout gear + SCBA. Other than a little more uncomfortable than a rappelling harness, it worked fine. I wouldn’t recommend using this belt for rappelling as a primary, but in an emergent bailout situation, I’d hook in with it.

If your outer duty belt has the hook (rough) surface of Velcro-type material facing in, this is the inner belt you need. It has the loop (soft) surface facing out. Check your gear. I bought the wrong belt before I found this beauty.

SUPER stiff to hold everything in place. Stitched to last for years. Great price and shipped super fast.

If you wear a duty belt and have to take it off quickly, this inner belt makes life easier. Putting on and taking off belt keepers takes time. Whether you are jumping in the water to save someone from drowning or that extra large glass of prune juice hits you suddenly, this inner belt lets you take off your gun belt much quicker.

It holds the outer belt VERY securely and is nice and stiff which gives it a professional appearance. Also, since there in no buckle, the belt can be worn whether you are losing weight or putting on weight.

It’s one of those little things that makes day to day life easier.

Like most of us, my under-belt has to hold my duty-belt and associated equipment. What I like about this belt is that the Velcro goes all the way around, distributing the load across all of the belt that overlaps.

My old belt only had 4” of Velcro and the “Stickiness” or “Hold-ability” reduced dramatically over just a few years. This belt is thicker than any I’ve worn in 20+ years of law enforcement; it’s about ¼ of inch to your belt line, so your duty-belt may not fit the same way it did before.

With those benefits and challenges in mind, I would buy this belt again.

Great quality belt, would buy and buy again… However, the sizes run small! I am a 32” waist and according to the chart, should fit in a small. That’s definitely not the case. Returning to exchange for a medium.

I have worn traditional Sam Brown duty belts in the earlier part of my 25+ years in law enforcement. I transitioned over to the Bianchii Accumold about 11 years ago. The difference is stunning. This belt allows the weight of equipment to be carried evenly around the belt rather than “pinching” at the hips.

Plus, you need no keepers as the Velcro inner belt grasps the entire duty belt very securely. Well worth the $$$!.

Fits perfectly and comfortable to wear. Has a lot of room for adjustment if needed. Would definitely recommend getting one.

As a cop who works in a city setting and has the unfortunate pleasure of running the radio non stop and the occasional foot post this brace has helped me tremendously! I am currently dealing with a lumbar herniation that has required several injections with a lot of pain.

I have only been wearing this brace coupled with a Velcro inner belt a short time however the difference is night and day for me. Spreads the weight of my rig out and keeps my belt in place through out my tour.

I can’t attest to the longevity of the brace yet and those of us in active departments know how quickly we wear out gear but I would absolutely buy again for the relief this has brought me. If you’re debating on purchasing this brace I would definitely recommend it! The only issue I found is, it’s a bit challenging to get the 2 rear keepers in looped onto my inner belt but I’ve found the Velcro inner with keepers on both sides of the brace are plenty secure for me.

So I spent 11 years as a grunt in the Army before getting out and becoming a police officer. As an infantry man younger used to carrying heavy weight, but on your shoulders. As a cop you wear the heavy weight of a duty belt around your waist and that weight pulls down on your hips and applies a lot of pressure to the small of your back, especially after standing many hours.

I was told about the backup brace by another officer I saw wearing it and so I did some research. After reading the reviews I thought I’d try it for myself. Having 3 herniated disks and arthritis in my lower back I figured it wouldn’t make it worse.

I ordered it, and the worst part of the process for me was fitting it on my gun belt in just the right spot. Taking everyone off. Sliding it into place. Putting everything back on just to realize I needed to adjust everything an inch or two one way or another.

When I finally got it settled right I put it ok and immediately that first night on duty I felt relief. The weight that had been pressing in on a small area was now spread out over my entire lower back and I felt no pain or discomfort.

I couldn’t believe how good it felt. The pressure was gone. The pulling down on my hips was gone. And I could walk and stand without pain. 4 years later and I still have the same brace on. It’s so good I just got one for my LEO fiancé and although her waist is significantly smaller she loves and swears by it as well.

If you’re one of those cops that wants his or her gear customized then I’ll say this is the single list important piece of equipment you’ll add to your duty belt. It’s literally a back saver.

Now that I have your attention with the Title, I would like to review the back up brace. I am 47yo been doing Police type work since the early 90s when I entered the Marine Corps as a MP. In 1998 I started Municipal Police work In Pennsylvania.

First part time, then Full time for University of Penn Police Department, in 2003 I was hired at my current department. As any other Police officer with time, my lower back kills me. I have tried everything, heating pads, Icy hot, lidocaine patches.

Earlier this year I ordered the suspender system for under the vest and shirt. I made it about 3 hours before I came back to the Station and stripped the damn suspender system off and hung them in my locker where they continue to hang and collect dust.

(For me personally they were constricting and I felt like I couldn’t get comfortable) In August I was on vacation in Outer Banks North Carolina laying in bed trying to sleep and was trolling Facebook.

An ad popped up for the back up brace. So I ordered it. To Date, I have worn it on patrol for almost 120hrs. Although it’s not a miraculous cure for back pain. I can say from my experience is that I feel my pain is there but I don’t feel as feeble at the end of a 10hr shift.

My only negative comment is the belt keepers they provided. I cannot feed them through the brace and belt. I use the keepers I have always used and go on either side of the brace. I am a completely satisfied with back up brace and will continue to wear it every shift.

When others ask when they see it I tell them how happy I am. Good luck to all who try it.

The belt is able to be secured snuggly, and holds up trousers while bearing the primary weapon, spare magazines, and cuffs. The only negative issue is the brittleness of the belt, and the Velcro snags the material of the nylon polo uniform shirts and abrades the material.

I now wear the belt with other more durable shirts.

Excellent inner belt by BLACKHAWK. Made with quality materials. Velcro keeps it secure. This inner belt is ridged and doesn’t fold over. I gave it 5!

I was tired of leather belts sagging and coming unstiched. I tried Duluth Trading and Old Navy and more for leather belts buy all disappointed me. I wear a belt 7 days a week and every day is a work day doing ranch work or metal work or some thing or another.

I bought one of these, not paying attention to which brand it was and not caring: I had just been dreaming of a web belt. That was around the end of 2017. Over 4. 5 years later it is still my daily belt.

It hasn’t come un-stitched, it barely has a sag, the buckle is still 100% functioning, and it’s not frayed. zero issues or complaints.

I bought this belt at the same time to go with my Taclite® Pro Ripstop Pants purchase. It seems I made another excellent decision. Although this belt is lightweight, it feels really sturdy. I haven’t tried it with a holster yet, but I’m sure it will stand up and not sag or roll over like general consumer belts.

The buckle being non-metallic also means it won’t scratch surfaces I lean over. The color was also a perfect match for the pants.

I really like it, material and appearance are great. I like how it has a creased keeper and creased edges. The only thing is that they run big I bought a size 40 because I wear size 36 pants and it was too big normally you would buy 2 sizes larger than your pants size.

I bought a size 38 and it fits perfectly just remember to order one size larger than your pants size.

Sizing runs pretty good; I’m a 40 but got a 42 belt (allows for plenty of room to either grow OR lose). Takes polish very well. Worn it for duty about four times now and the leather is loosening up nicely.

No velcro on the inside, which necessitates the use of keepers, but no problem there. I’ve worn it over both a velcro inner belt and a leather garrison belt and it works well with both (again, with the keepers).

No problems noted.

Good quality leather. Like night and day compared to other belts I’ve bought in uniform stores. Even though their product was good, this is better.
