20 Best Laundry Soap For Eczema (2023 Updated)

I find it funny that this brand name is Molly’s Suds because no matter how hard I try, I can’t get this detergent to get sudsy. But, if you look at the ingredients list (which is 100% the reason I chose to try this natural detergent option, and I do believe I have tried them ALL lol) this detergent is basically salt with a hint of peppermint oil so naturally it wouldn’t (and shouldn’t) get all bubbly like traditional & harsh detergents do.

But it gets your clothes clean, which is essentially what matters. I gave 4 stars because the scent is very faint. Very, very faint — I use at least 2 scoops in every load no matter what using my good, old-fashioned washer (so I go through this bag much faster than 70 loads, more like 30-35ish loads) because even that barely leaves a trace of a scent (this may be a huge pro for some people who are very sensitive to scents of any kind).

I understand they can’t add too much peppermint oil to the recipe because that would ruin your clothes in the wash. but also I just LOVE my clothes smelling super fresh coming out of the wash, so that’s the only thing I don’t care for.

but I guess I could always boost the scent with essential oils in my wool dryer balls. And I do have to say my washer smells like peppermint after continual use, and peppermint is a fabulous oil to help keep pests away, so that’s an unexpected bonus.

So I may go through this bag way faster than 70 loads, but even at 30-35 loads/bag for $14 that’s still great price for natural detergent with a transparent & super simple ingredients list. I ordered a sample of the Frey detergent brand because they plant a tree with every order so I thought I’d give their detergent a try–I fell in love with the pink jasmine detergent (smells heavenly) but I couldn’t actually find an ingredients list anywhere online for their detergent made with “natural” ingredients.

So, I came back to Molly’s Suds. Unlike the majority of detergents claiming to be healthier and “natural”, the full ingredients list is ACTUALLY listed on the packaging (and there are so few of them as well as so simple you could basically just make it at home)– that trumps every other con (and pro) about this detergent.

If the packaging would improve, (maybe came in a paper box or something that could be more easily recycled/repurposed, or even if they sold it in a larger size to help minimize wqste!) I would change my rating to 5 STARS.

Either way, I do believe this will be my go-to detergent from now on. If you like your clothes to be super sudsy in the wash as well as boldly fragrant, this isn’t the detergent for you. But if a natural, transparent , simple clean at a very affordable cost is most important to you, then look no further!.

Bought this after seeing good commentary on the ingredients on a website about going green. Have used for a couple months now and find that it cleans well and leaves a very soft peppermint smell on the clothes (very subtle).

I notice the scent more on my sheets than on my clothes – very light, not overpowering at all. The best though is that after eliminating the fabric softeners and laundry scent boosters AND using Molly’s Suds, my sinuses have opened up and are better than they have been in DECADES! Sinuses were never bad but just slightly off – thought I had mild allergies.

Never suspected the fragrance in my laundry products was causing it. Thank you Molly’s Suds for opening up those sinuses!.

I’ve been using Molly suds for about 6 months now. I love their product transparency when it comes to ingredients and fragrances. This is significantly safer for our bodies than any conventional powdered detergent.

I use it on my family’s everything, including my daughters cloth diapers. Our clothes are always clean and fresh. Sure it’s not strongly scented like conventional detergent. Sometimes I miss the smell of tide, but it’s a small sacrifice to know I’m reducing the toxins in my home.

Okay, when I first received my detergent in the Wildflower scent, I thought it smelled too strong to be natural, and was worried there was synthetic fragrance because the box also said “parfum/fragrance” which in my experience has always meant synthetic.

So I wrote a negative review because I felt a bit betrayed. But the company reached out and assured me that all of their products contain fragrance from natural origins, and that the fragrance they use is non toxic and free of carcinogens.

So now that I know that, and I have used almost the entire 160 load box of detergent, I can say that this is the best detergent I’ve ever used. It even gets our cloth diapers to smell completely 100% fresh, like new, which we have NEVER been able to do with any other detergent before! Yes, you do often need to use more than the suggested amount for very dirty things like diapers, but that’s the same as any detergent.

I will be buying more. Right now, actually. Because we are getting low and I don’t want to have to use anything else!.

I found it very hard to believe that I could actually be allergic to fragrances, despite growing up believing in science. But a lot of ‘unscented’ products aren’t really unscented. Many have “masking fragrances” in them to cover an unpleasant odor, without intending to introduce anything strong.

But not only did those smell unpleasant to me still, they also managed to make me itchy in at-home double blind tests! Really?? Yes, at 53, I am finally discovering that I need baby products more than I did when I was a baby.

In our home we are actively working to implement more environmentally safe, biodegradable, plant based products. I have followed a vegan based diet for my entire life and do not “wear” animals with regard to clothing as well as makeup/skincare.

However it is a challenge to find cruelty free, vegan (mostly) and effective products for cleaning anything: from dishes and floors to clothes and linens. When I read about Seventh Generation’s 100% biodegradable, lavender scented detergent I hoped the 97% plant based product would clean our clothes as effectively as the chemicals we’ve been using.

First things first; it has a lovely lavender oil fragrance and I checked reliable third party testing sources and read that the plant based enzymes and 100% biodegradable claims are true and the only complaint from an environmental standpoint was a lack of less wasteful packaging.

This is not an issue for me to debate as our recycling is still full on a weekly basis- but we are trying. In order to give the best, most honest review I needed to use the detergent under different conditions.

First, I used it on a regular size load of only my light coloured clothing and I didn’t add any other producs (e. g. no fabric softener, no oxiclean etc. ) The result was clean laundry without much of a fragrance but I didn’t have anything really dirty or smelly in the bin.

Next, I used it on my boyfriend’s work clothes, a daunting task for even some chemicals. It didn’t do much for his clothes, even with the addition of fabric softener and in-wash scent boosters. I received these three sample packets for free in exchange for my honest review and I was out of product to try anything else.

Compared to the few other “green” detergents I have used this worked better in terms of general cleaning and leaving some fragrance. The downside is that it wasn’t very effective on stains whether they had “set in” or were fresh and lastly the lavender scent didn’t last very long after the initial wash.

That can be enhanced with essential oil mists for the dryer though.

I have had Psoriasis in my neck area where the clothes have the closest skin contact and rubs against the skin on the neck. Harsh laundry Detergents makes it worse. After using Seventh Generation laundry detergent I found out that it has no artificial dyes, scents and no artificial brighteners it is powered by plants, it really made me happy.

It keeps my clothes soft and cleans also very well. I work at a school so kids touch me all the time with something in their hands and when I come home and wash my clothes all that grime goes away. My psoriasis on the neck doesn’t feel irritated so much and it gives me relief from feeling super itchy.

Found it when researching baby safe detergents. Ordered a small one at buy buy baby originally and then ended up buying the larger size here. The smell is so faint and nor overwhelming so this was perfect when I wanted some sort of smell but nothing overpowering.

I started using this when my son was born almost 8 years ago. Clothes come out clean and stains come out well. I would rinse out tough baby stains as soon as I took off dirty onesies with plain water or water and a little hand soap, but washing his clothes in warm water once a week got them clean and soft.

I added oxyclean to the baby / toddler loads as needed, and now that he’s older I use Clorox 2 or Shout pretreatment for sports stains. It does not leave a scent and clothes hold up well through many washes.

Very large container for a very good price! I was very impressed with the way it was packaged for shipment. I’ve ordered other similar items from Sam’s and too many times these jugs come busted and have spilled all over the UPS driver’s truck.

But this time, they came with a piece of tape over the caps so they couldn’t turn plus were put in a plastic bag and sealed in case of spillage. But the smartest thing of all was the shipper put them in boxes perfect for their size.

Not like other times when they put in a box 3 times the size of the jug which allowed them to bounce around and turn over and upside down. These were packed good and tight leaving no wiggle room.

So while we don’t have any skin sensitivities requiring a free and clear detergent, I do like to use free and clear on delicates and my sons clothes to avoid any potential agitants on sensitive skin.

I use other Ivory products so wanted to give this a shot. I washed a load of delicates with some of my sons well worn clothes mixed in. Pulling these out of the dryer I was actually pleased with the fact they came clean.

A good feel to the clothes, no residue or film left behind. I’m definitely a fan of Ivory products and the detergent soap is no exception! Would definitely buy again! I’ve never had any issues with the Tide Simply oxi that I have used in the past so was interested to try this new scent, Berry Blossom.

Ivory makes more than bar soap!? I like that it’s dye-free (clear) I found years ago the blue dye in most detergents leaves some sort of residue on the clothes which I’m pretty sure is what causes me to itch.

I’m not sure what a lot of these ingredients are but they’re split into categories to inform you what each of them are purposed for which is nice knowing there aren’t excess ingredients in the bottle simply as fillers.

The bottle is partially made from recycled plastic which makes me feel like all of that cleaning, de-labeling and getting the recyclables into their bin isn’t for nothing. My laundry came out without some crazy scent, just a great clean smell! The bottle also has a stamp from the National eczema association which brought a thought I should’ve been thinking about for a while now.

My eldest son has been breaking out in small dry patches lately and as I had severe eczema as a kid I think I need to change some things in the house to help him as he may have inherited this problem from me.

My son is allergic to most detergents. I’ve always purchased another brand for him and one brand for the rest of the family. However I know that they still get mixed a bit in the machine. So i tried this to see how it works.

I absolutely loved each of the three products that I was sent. The all purpose cleaning spray worked fantastic in the kitchen but the real test for me was in the bathroom, where my sink, toilet & shower thank you! It looked and smelled fresh without the harshness of chemicals that normally bother my daughters, yet there was no sneezing, coughing, noses running or eyes tearing from it.

I like this detergent. My opinion’s still out a little bit on it. I need scent-free in my household, and my husband’s skin is very sensitive to any changes in soap or detergent. This detergent seems to have good cleaning power, removes scents from clothes instead of masking them with smelly perfume, seems to do a good job even on dog beds and furniture covers.

My husband has complained some about being itchy — and we’re not sure if it’s because of the change. Wish the detergent came in a larger bottle so I wouldn’t be putting so much plastic back into the universe.

I got this on a whim when I was looking for a strong yet gentle dish cleaner. I prefer hand washing and this does the trick. It’s thick and cleans well. My only hope is that it comes in a larger size! Otherwise it’s an excellent soap for doing the dishes.

I love my new Mulberry Park silk pillow cases. They are so luxuriously soft and just what I was looking for my new pillows. The manufacturer of my pillows also sold silk pillowcases of same grade silk but for far more money.

These are quality made and the envelope closure was just what I was looking for to keep my pillow from slipping out of the pillow case. My curly hair is smoother now after a night’s sleep and it is so nice sleeping on the Mulberry Park pillowcase.

The specially made laundry detergent I purchased with them is wonderful too. It is made for all kinds of fine delicates. I use it for my other delicates such as lingerie, too. After washing, I hang the pillow case up and it dries quickly.

I bought this to wash our mulberry silk sheets in. The detergent is perfect. No complaints with the soap. However, it should be noted, there is no noticeable scent of lavender after washing and drying.

To the container, the design of the container needs to be improved. The container needs to be designed the way other detergent brand containers are designed regarding the drainage of residual detergent left in the cap after use.

Other detergents’ containers are designed to allow the excess soap to drain back inside the container. As it is now, this container is messy to use and wasteful. When you’re spending this kind of money to treat your silk with care, one would expect the container’s design to be designed to conserve the product.

Used this a couple times now, both hand washing and in the washing machine (front load with silk in a laundry bag). This is my first time owning nice silk bedding, and I definitely didn’t want to risk messing them up.

This soap seems to work very well, the sheets actually do get softer after a few washes and feel amazing now! Hand wash the first few times, then you can use a washer as long as it’s on the most gentle cycle.

I let them air dry as well.

I’ve known about woolite for years and I don’t know how I’ve never bought this! I had a cashmere sweater that I was too scared to take to the dry cleaners. I always heard Woolite was great for wool so I thought I’d give it a try.

OMG. It made my sweater even soft than it was before with no change to the casheme. Just handwashed it in really cold water. So glad I bought this. My new go-to detergent for my winter sweaters.

I’m not very educated on detergents. I usually just use whatever but I recently bought an expensive silk pillow that needs to be washed frequently. The first hand wash, I used regular detergent and it felt stiff after drying.

I used this for my next hand wash and it dried super soft and smooth like when I bought it new! I recommend this for silk.

I usually buy all of my household supplies on Amazon or from Walmart and never took notice to anything other than my usual purchase of Tide when it came to laundry detergent. I opted to give Persil a try after reading so many great reviews and realizing that it was around the same price as most other detergents.

I first used it to wash my bedding and I was very impressed. Only a small amount is needed in a load of laundry so the jug lasts a rather long time. It smells so fresh and clean as well. I have sensitivity to detergents and cleaners and had no reactions from this detergent.

Additionally, it doesn’t need scent boosting products and I found that I usually don’t need to pretreat stains. My absolute favorite part of using this detergent is that it can most likely get any odor out of clothing.

Unless something better comes along, which I doubt will happen, this is my permanent first choice for detergent and I highly recommend it!.

I’ve been telling friends and family about this detergent for years. I don’t know what it is but this is hands down the best detergent on the market. It’s hard to explain what it does. it makes my clothes feel relaxed.

I saw someone say these reviews were fake… I’m a real person and I agree with the others. Persil has its own unique scent. Like the original green bottle from another brand with the G on it. Persil smells fresh! In my top loader it smelled up the whole house but now I have a front loader and can only smell it when I walk by the laundry room.

My husband works outside with oil and grease. I have 3 kids and a dog. Our laundry comes out clean and smelling nice! I’ve used other detergent that made my laundry smell like spit up OR dirty bucket water.

Ew. Persil really gets the grime out and refreshes the fibers just make sure you use the correct dosage. Make sure you don’t mix the colors with the whites because they will look dingy. All in all, I enjoy it.

We have been using original (boxed powder) Tide detergent for over 40 years, but I’m afraid we just can’t handle this new scent anymore. My husband has been saying to me that he noticed and felt and smelled something different with our Tide and I told him it was his imagination.

Couldn’t you have kept your foo-foo fragrances in your other products/models and LEFT ORIGINAL TIDE ALONE?? PLEASE GO BACK TO THE WAY THIS HAS BEEN FORMULATED FOR THE LAST FEW DECADES.

We have been soooooo disappointed in your re-formulation the last several months. Make it Tide ORIGINAL Powder Laundry Detergent again :-).

I will start by saying, my whole family has used Tide for over 30 years. Tide Original has been a comforting smell of home to me for as long as I can remember. When Tide changed the scent of the liquid Tide Original a couple of years ago, I called customer service to complain.

It was noxious, and way too potent, smelling up the entire house after a wash, even “when used as directed. ” The company thanked me for my feedback, and assured me I could still enjoy the old scent in Tide “mountain spring.

” I can’t find this anywhere at the stores in my town. Also, this means the “Tide Original” smell is far from Original. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Tide Original powder was pretty close to the actual Original smell.

We have happily used it since. I have always loved the effectiveness of Tide. Until the last box we purchased about a month ago. The first wash I took out of the machine hit me in the face with the scent.

It was like an air freshener in a public toilet, reminiscent of a urinal puck, complete with a hint of ammonia. I thought maybe something gross had gone through the wash in a kid’s pocket, and caused a weird reaction.

I washed the load again. It was worse. We’ve tried to get through the box by cutting the “Tide Original” with powder Tide Free and Clear. The results fluctuate between an awful, sickly, overly-sweet candy scent, and the aforementioned puck.

The laundry is so strong otherwise, we can’t stand it. This will unfortunately be my last box of Tide. I am fed up with changes to an “Original” formula I trusted, and now I have to wade through the market of detergents to find something that doesn’t give us headaches.

Tide, please listen to customer feedback, and leave “Original” scent as original! If you want to change the formula to give the scent a boost, then market it seperately as “scent boosted”!.

For the past couple decades, Tide Original has been the only laundry detergent I’ve been able to use that didn’t make me sick due to rare autoimmune disorders and fragrance allergies. The original sent was mild enough that it didn’t trigger any major reactions, and clothes after washed and dried did not have any lingering scents.

Today I opened the new box thinking it was the same one I had grown to love. Right away I was shocked at the difference in fragrance. Thinking it was my imagination, I proceeded to do a couple loads.

The wet clothes had an unpleasant odor, and when dried was even worse. I am in process of re-washing with baking soda and odor remover for the third time to try and get the scent out of the clothes. I went from a love to hate relationship in the blink of an eye.

I’ve been practically in tears since I just spent $60 on two of the giant boxes, and don’t know what I’m going to do to find another detergent. It’s not easy when you have problems with major sensitivities and allergic reactions to things like this.

Been buying this for years but they have changed the formula, wether they want to admit it or not. It was always CLEAR! I bought some last week and was doing laundry today used this on one load and it was YELLOW!! What the heck did they do? Luckily I had a little of the original clear for the other load and the clothes I used the yellow on are now making me Itch! WHY DID THEY SCREW UP A PRODUCT THAT WAS PERFECT?? At first I thought the yellow one was old or maybe had been exposed to heat or cold weather so when I went to the store I looked and they were all yellow at the same store I bought the clear at a couple months ago! I poured the rest of the bottle out it was kind of lumpy looking too.

SO DISGUSTED!! Now I have to go look for a new clear brand for people with sensitve skin.

I have been using Free Gentle for 2 years now and am very pleased with the formula. I cannot stand heavily fragranced products. This product is just what was needed. It’s a neutral PH for sure! Free of dyes and perfumes, it’s been my go to as I have severe skin allergies.

BUT I want the Cold Water version brought back as I want to wash with an unscented cold water product. It was terrific. Now you have the New Tide HYGIENIC CLEAN but it stinks and is bad for my allergies and asthma.

I am only rating this product as a 3 only due to the fact that you discontinued the Cold Water version. I am now forced to use this in my cold water washing. Elsewhere on your website you have: Is to OK to use laundry detergent in cold water? A: You can use our detergents with cold water, but warm or hot water provides the best cleaning results.

If you wash with cold water,. If you use another detergent, the water should be at least 60°F (16°C). If the water in your washing machine is colder than this, add a bit of warm water. We recommend you only use a cold wash for items that specify this on the care label.

Thank you for you LACK of concern for those of us who want to use the cold water wash and cannot use scented products. Very disappointing.

I can honestly say “WOW” when I used this laundry detergent. I know it advertises “No Perfumes” “No Dyes” and “For Sensitive Skin” and I’ve seen this before on other detergents but the cleaning power just wasn’t there on those other detergents.

My families clothes would still come out with some stains that would have easily been removed if I used a normal detergent or it went the other way and cleaned the clothes but was not for sensitive skinned people.

My wife and son have sensitive skin/allergies to things like water temperature, the amount of salt or chlorine in the water, certain dyes in clothing and soap and perfumes or deodorants, etc. They get rashes and hives, there skin gets all scaly, etc.

I was very skeptical prior to trying this cause I assumed it would be like the rest, but it wasn’t. It actually cleaned as well as normal detergents. I always did like the cleaning power of Tide, thought it was one of the best detergents on the market, just a little too pricey.

Anyways it was up to the skin challenge now, my wife and 8 month old son have been wearing the clothes that were washed with this detergent for the past 2 days and I haven’t heard of any issues. My wife actually commented that the clothes felt softer than usual, that must be the Downy in the detergent which I was surprised after one wash you’d be able to feel a difference like that.

Still skeptical but you got to listen to your wife. =\ The only con I have about this is the same thing I have with all Tide products, it’s just a little too pricey compared to other detergents. Since this detergent works better washing and is gentle on sensitive skin and I need a detergent like this for my family I will be purchasing it again but if I had a choose and it came down to price I would probably go with a cheaper detergent that does the same cleaning job.

There really is not one think I dislike about this detergent. The intense scent is my favorite. I will say there was an incident while camping which involved urine. We did not have the time to treat this too much and it got bagged up and sat on top of the van in the hot sun for a few days.

I was about to just throw the blanket away, but decided to go for it. This detergent actually got rid of the smell, and the smell never returned! Not to mention, the blanket even feels softer. I did presoak with vinegar, as i do with alot of our laundry.

I hope I never get tired of the scent of this stuff because I honestly do not want to go back to other brands, and maybe not even want to try a new brand. I guess the only thing I “dislike” is Persil doesn’t seem to carry fabric softener sheets? That I can find anyway.
