20 Best Lasers For Hair Removal (2023 Updated)

I purchased at BestBuy in mid-August 2021 and began immediately using weekly as directed. Took me a couple times to figure out the best method, but once I did, I was able to breeze through the weekly treatments in about 10 minutes or less.

At 6 weeks, there was no hair growth at my armpits and I have not needed to shave them again to date. I also used on my toes, once I figured how to bunch my toes together to get the laser to fire (that was a challenge, but can be done) and it was effective in that area.

At 8 weeks, there was no hair growth at bikini line. As of today, November 2, there is still some hair growth on my lower legs, but it is so VERY minimal. Since I have only had for a couple months, I cannot say how long it will last, But I have definitely gotten my money’s worth at this point. Once I am done, I will be passing along to my nieces.

I have been doing treatments around 4 weeks. Treatments are relatively painless. Every once in a while you might get a zap that stings. Usually this happens because a spot was missed when shaving. It did take a bit to work up to the recommended level in certain areas like my underarms.

I was able to use a level 7 on my legs right away without any pain. My one complaint is the window on the unit can get really hot. I typically have to stop halfway on each leg and let the unit cool. This doesn’t take too long, so not a deal breaker.

The picture attached is my leg with a weeks worth of hair growth. (Might have missed treatments this week. Oops!) I have random patches with hair and some spots completely hair free. My legs are slightly prickly, but I don’t necessarily need to shave yet.

I would compare it to day 2/3 after shaving before starting treatments. Definite signs of reduced hair growth. Overall I really like this product. I like that I can use it in the comfort of my home. Most of my treatments are down while watching tv.

I was nervous about using this as shaving and waxing did not work previously. I have dark brown skin and thick black hair. The product has a smooth, easy-to-hold design, but I would still recommend not looking directly at the product whilst in use as it is still quite bright.

The actual lasering is not painful but does give little “shocks”. I tried monitoring the results after 8-weeks but I would say the first few weeks were “not applicable” because I was using the lowest setting once a week.

It was only after a few weeks that I discovered I need to laser EVERY TIME I shave (2-3 times a week) and use stronger settings for my hair type (thick, dark hair). I am currently using setting 3/4 on my legs and private area and I can say that my private area has improved in areas (hairless patches).

My legs however are still “hairy”, but I guess I could say the hairs are growing back thinner. I have not necessarily noticed the hairless patches on my legs or armpits yet, but I will keep experimenting.

I would still recommend this product as it is far better than getting razor burns or ingrowing hairs! The only reason why I would leave 4 stars instead of 5 is that I could not give an accurate review on the first few weeks of using the product.

It was as if the low settings would not work on my skin/hair type and I did not see any changes. The instructions do recommend that you start with a lower setting (I guess this has to be advised), but I was using the low setting for far too long and I was getting frustrated! But nothing necessarily against the product.

I’m still in the process of using it. Before Lumi: I’m an everyday shave girl because my leg and underarm hair are like small black spikes, unforgiving, and will have a 5 o’clock shadow an hour after shaving.

I have always wanted to try an IPL and after researching lots of different brands, I went for the Lumi IPL I was a little bit sceptical that it might not work. Wow I was surprised! The first 2 weeks I didn’t see much improvement, but I persisted, continuing this on my legs, armpits and biking area.

Week 4 I saw a difference. I can only IPL on one leg as I have a whole leg tattoo on the other so this was a great way to see the difference between the two. Although I didn’t see much improvement on the armpits and bikini area.

Week 8. Wow! My leg have hardly any hair growth, there are a few patches but I’m super pleased with this. Still continuing with using this twice a week on the armpits and bikini area – slight improvement.

I did notice that these areas are taking longer to grow back and with less hairs. Week 12 – my leg is completely hair free. apart from the odd hair here and there! But I’m really really pleased with the results.

Armpit and bikini area have still got a few weeks to go but eventhen I’m really pleased with the results so far, I think another 4 weeks of using twice a week should get rid of the stubborn hairs in these area! All in all, I highly recommend the Lumi IPL.

You really do need to be patience and persistent with this. Taking photos is a good way to keep track of the results, especially in the early days of using it. I’m so glad I bought this. Can’t wait to show off my hair free body on my holidays!!.

I adore this brand and wholeheartedly endorse it. I was hesitant to buy because I didn’t see any darker woman in the advertisements (I know it works differently on different tones), but I was willing to pay over $2k to have my finger and tummy hair removed permanently! My experience after use- it will take double triple the time that you would spend at a clinic- at the highest strength its not too painful the trick is to shave properly the area or else you will suffer- the device became extremely hot in just 5 minutes, i decided to turn it off and let it cool even if i had another 10 minutes of use- you have to keep track of the area you covered I would use a white pen to map it.

when i tried to do my legs i got lost – the device is too small to cover wide body parts – it says its suitable for bikini however when i read their instruction book it said to avoid the body parts that are a bit darker now that means bikini area for me so be careful – i think it would be great for face, underarm and that is it – remember that it will expire in just three years.

for the price i would hope that the battery is better, or an option is available to use it connected to power, finally if you are new to hair removal i advise do your first sessions at a clinic and then introduce a home device.

PREFACE: I researched IPLs for weeks prior to purchasing this product but was very excited as I consistently found it to be top ranked. I was deciding between this product & the Silk’n Infinity- both very similar in flashes, good for sensitive skin, FDA approved and money back guarantee.

I decided to go with this product as it was a lesser cost and has the “highly raved about” sensoadapt technology, although it’s larger/bulkier. INITIAL REACTION: Painful, takes SO long, you need safety glasses.

-Pain: I just used this for the first time so will amend my review after I’ve completed 4 weeks or at least the first 100 days (money back guarantee) to see if it actually works. I read numerous reviews and everywhere comments “pain-LESS”.

This couldn’t be farther from the truth. Though WAY less painful than the first time I epilated (be doing my lower legs for 3 yrs) and less painful than the first time waxing, since I’ve been waxing my bikini area for 4yr or so and I honestly say that’s less painful than this first go around.

It feels like exactly what it’s doing – like you are electrocuting and frying a hair follicle. And it was NOT adapting to my skin as I was getting to more sensitive areas I had to use the manual adjustment.

-Safety: It’s also hard to continuously look away as it won’t fire unless there’s good contact. So when I got to my knees and ankles or even going over my shin bones I instinctively look to see why it wasn’t firing and adjust my angel but would then get blinded.

Again, this was my first time using the product so I’m sure I’ll get better use to it and coordinated but honestly not sure I would want to do it again without safety googles. On a positive note, it does have a sleek design, and although large its not very heavy (ignoring the giant battery pack that stays on the ground).

Legs and toes: I have shaved my legs for 40+ years, with dark thicker hair that was stubbly again within a day of shaving. After 1 treatment I could see hair was growing back sparsely and not as thick.

I never write reviews but felt I needed to for this as I trawled through reviews for weeks trying to decide if I should go for it or not. I was sceptical at the start and didn’t think it would work but took the plunge anyway as I was so sick of shaving every day resulting in shaving rash, ingrown hairs and itchiness, especially on my bikini area.

I have had this product for almost a month so all I can speak to so far are the first impressions. I like that you get everything you need to unpack-and-go as the set even comes with a shaver included.

A Venus razor is included to get you started on shaving the hair and then zapping it away. In terms of intensity, it feels like an elastic band is flicking at your skin. For me (and a lot of other people leaving reviews for Philips’ IPL at-home device), it’s one of those products that has a list of pros and cons and whether it’s worth buying and trying comes down to your specific needs and, let’s face it, body hair.

I’ve used my Philips Lumea machine on my legs, arms and face. Out of the box, the IPL machine has a high quality feel – smooth, ergonomic looking and, best of all, a neat pouch to put everything in and keep the various attachment heads safe.

It’s pretty compact. The machine itself I’d give a 9/10 on ease of use. Switch it on and select the right head (each corresponds with a body part with handy images). To use you need to choose right head according to your need and then zap away.

You can do this by pressing the trigger to zap, then repositioning to the next area, and zapping again. In the case of larger areas like legs, you can keep your finger on the trigger and just move the head over your legs.

Is it painful ?– yes and no. On my legs and arms I feel zero pain. On my legs, a couple of zings that people have likened to having an elastic band snapping on you. I didn’t find it that bad…on my legs.

But on face a bit especially around lips area as it is very sensitive area. Before you use You have to remove all the hair from the area you zap before you do it. If you don’t, it’s not only less effective, you’re going to smell a lot of singed hair.

When I first started out, the advice was to shave, which I hate because it causes horrific ingrown hairs but i started trimming the areas as It doesn’t give you ingrown. Overall, it is a pretty significant win, for better results i need to use more as up til now i had use it twice so there is definitely more work to be done.

It’s easy to see this as a downside – the regular maintenance – but at the same time, it’s a huge plus having the machine already there and paid for and ready to go. I’d have been much more furious if I’d skipped the maintenance on a £3k treatment and started to see the hairs regrow with force.

I wanted to wait and give my review after using the lumnea for a good while The first thing I would say is don’t purchase this expecting miracles! Yes, you can get to the stage where you are mostly hair free but only if you stick to the regime.

I’m now 7 months in and only ditched the razor completely in the last month I repeated the initial phase of zapping every 2 weeks for two whole cycles as one cycle wasn’t enough. I then dropped to zapping every 3 weeks.

You have to be meticulous with the placement of the lumnea to make sure you are covering every inch of skin. This means you might have to change the way in which you position it against your skin. This is especially the case against the shins as it’s hard to get full skin contact.

If you rush, you will end up with patches that have normal hair growth. To zap a full leg, underarms and my bikini line would take about 45 mins. My underarms are now 95% hair free and I will go a month without worrying.

My legs are probably about 85% hair free. I have some stubborn patches on the back of my calves and ankles that need some spot zapping but on the whole, I can confidently wear a dress for a couple of weeks in a row without worrying.

It probably took about 5 months before I got to the stage where my legs felt really smooth. My bikini line still needs some work! The very tops of my legs around my bikini line are good though so I can pop a costume/bikini on and not worry about stray hairs.

My other piece of advice would be to start this in the winter months as you can’t use it on tanned skin. All in all, Im pleased I made the investment :-).

As for the most important factor. How much does it hurt?. I was surprised to find out it was pain free. If you are in any doubt of trying the Phillips Lumea Corded Prestige, I would highly recommend it.

Did my investigations/comparisons and decided to bite the bullet and purchase, luckily had vouchers for Chrimbo that covered a lot of the cost but definitely worth it. Apart from the testimonies, etc, another reason for purchasing was that there was a decent returns window if I found that this was not suitable for me.

I had another brands device that was painful to use on the more sensitive parts and the treatment window was small thus was a chore to use, but this one was a absolute dream. Treatment time is so quick and easy, and a quick wipe keeps the Prestige looking like new.

The first time I used the device I was surprised at how quickly I managed to do face, underarms, bikini and legs and no sensitivity afterwards either. Hair free on legs and lady ‘tasche already and almost there for underarms.

Bikini line being stubborn but definitely much less hair regrowth. Almost a razor free body – hurrah. App useful for keeping track of settings used and reading/watching others experience along with their tips.

I have fairly dark skin (verging on the darkest that this can manage) and I would highly recommend this to others.

So I thought I would review after a while of use. I bought mine in July 2020 and so have hit about 18 months since purchasing. I have dark hair and fair skin which is the ideal recommendation. The Phillips lumea although has definitely reduced my hair growth it no means has stopped it.

I followed the programme to a T doing it every 2 weeks for many months (which is more than the required) on the majority of my body. I have found my hair growth under my arms are significantly less however I still get growth there regularly and 18 months later am still doing it every 2 weeks not every few months as advertised.

I shave prior to use which is recommended and just don’t feel this gives you a hair free experience in the time recommended. My legs have also had a reduction in hair growth however again they are not hair free and the “touch ups” that they say may be needed every few months, I feel really are biweekly.

It is not quick to do either. It takes about 20-30 mins to do each leg and so to do your whole body it’s a full couple of hours so don’t think it’s quick like I thought when buying! Having said that, I do feel that the lumea has helped my hair reduction at much cheaper than salon experience.
