20 Best Laptop Cooling Pad For Macbook Pro (2023 Updated)

I needed to replace an old laptop fan that wasn’t cooling my laptop anymore. This new fan is very quiet and the fans themselves are much larger than my old fan. My laptop does still get very warm whenever the AC goes off but that has nothing to do with the fan.

I live in the southwest and it’s very hot in the summer. A fan can only do so much. I do recommend this fan for the price and for how quiet it is. I can’t hear it at all.

It doesn’t cool down the laptop or improve its performance. Waited 4 days for no reason thinking it would help cool down my overheating laptop.

Ive got huge fans in my G7 laptop, they come on not often but this laptop gets very warm, the fans make a bit of noise, not distracting but noise. Ive noticed the come on less often now using this cooler, and my G7 is not as hot so Im very happy with this cooling pad! Purchase with confidence!!! Really like this.

Works Alright (having trouble finding a difference than without a cooling pad), fans arent loud. Item isnt clunky and generally looks decent. Fast shipping, although in my opinion, the price is a little on the steep side.

I had gotten this model several years ago. It claims a 17 inch laptop will it on it. While technically true it doesn’t take into account that modern 17 inch laptops have wide screen displays which means a couple of inches on either side will be overhanging the chill mat.

But the core area will be cooled by the fans. When I first got mine a 17 inch laptop had a square-ish 4:3 aspect ratio. And while I only used it on my 15. 6 inch laptops (16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratio machines) it was good at keeping them cool.

There is a definite audible sound coming from the fans while they’re in use. Once the cable is plugged into a powered USB type A port the fans immediately go to work. Their speed is not adjustable. If using this in quiet places or while watching a movie it isn’t loud enough to interfere or be a nuisance.

More like the sound a desktop oscillating fan might make. I’m testing it out in my home that doesn’t have central air conditioning. No A/C in the home office. So far the laptop has shut down automatically a couple of times due to overheating.

It might be the fans are smaller than my broken version. Although I have found using the ceiling fan serves to cool both myself and my laptop to a certain extent. Here are the things that have changed since its last iteration: 01) cooling fans are smaller.

02) inner assembly is now held in place with Philips head screws making it easier to take fans out for cleaning, repair, replacement. 03) the neoprene fabric that once enveloped the entire chill mat now covers the upper and lower halves.

A seam along the center width of the rear of the chill mat is more evidence the thing can be easily taken apart. 04) the USB 2. 0 cable is now centrally located internally.

Owned for a day, consider this review first impressions. – Fan is powered by USB cable. has an OK length to plug into the left or back of laptop. – Fits my 15. 6″ gaming laptop OK. – If there is not a lot of grip on the bottom of the laptop could see this sliding around as other reviews have said.

My laptop was designed with ‘shoe like grip’ on most of the bottom and can still slide if not positioned well. – Fans are relatively loud in my opinion – not measured but if relative silence is what you’re looking for you will find this too loud, louder than a modern laptop at idle significantly but you always have the option of unplugging it when not under load – As other reviewer has mentioned the structure does not feel very strong but holds my laptop OK even when resting my hands on the laptop.

– Note the weight of this item if it is a concern for you – its not that light. – The main draw of this item for me was the fact it can cool the laptop and you can use it in your lap on the sofa or whereever – it is OK for that, completely solid on the bottom but ventilated surface on the top.

I did not find cooling mats that clearly advertise sofa use as being supported that looked as good as this. – The cooling fan performance is not great for my laptop (g533qr) in a stress test it only lowered GPU / CPU temps under load from 86.

7c/74. 8c to 84c/72. 3c and frame rates were only 5% more stable (tested via 3d mark) – better than nothing but there is noise that comes with it. My laptop is new so cooling performance is as good as it can be.

Overall I expected better cooling performance and noise, but there aren’t a lot of options (that I could find) if you’re looking for cooling and sofa use. Unless you’re gaming or doing other workloads that require a lot of resources (video editing / rendering) I would use a regular laptop tray without any cooling at all.

If you are gaming or doing heavy workloads at a desk there are plenty more cooling pads better than this.

My gaming laptop is well equipped with fans already so I was never worried about cooling issues of my hardware. My PC’s fans are plenty powerful, and if manually turned up to maximum effort sound like a f18 powering up to take off the carrier deck.

So needless to say, my computer stays plenty cool even under heavy gaming. The max I’ve seen is 85 degrees out of my GPU. But I along with my wife was concerned with the heat’s effect on my little swimmers.

A laptop running at 85 degrees Celsius isn’t necessarily comfortable sitting on your lap, and definitely not good for the crown jewels. With this chill mat, it’s a win-win situation for me. I keep my laptop a few degrees cooler and get to keep my fertility.

The added bonus of the comfortable angle is nice too.

The cooler is packaged nicely and arrives without damage or malfunction. Quality control seems to be good. For laptops with fan intake vents towards the left and right sides, this will do a good job and cooling them.

Check the USB port to see if your computer detects the device, sometimes it disconnects the power but you can unplug and re-plug.

My old Asus laptop which basically gets almost too hot to touch at the vent from overheating issues due to its small fan. The board works really well at dissipating the heat under the laptop and now the cooling vent no longer spreads a burning hot breeze to my desk and the vent itself but also keeps the vent nice and cool.

This laptop fan cooler is Madewell runs quietly in his nice LEDs to add an aesthetic touch. This works very well for the customer of mine that I put together a laptop for. I found them in a inexpensive cooler that is well made and works well.

the device effectively reduce the heat of my laptop, and so that the laptop fan doesn’t have to run heavily. there are still some noise I can hear if I pay attention. Because I am very sensitive to the noise, so I did some extra work to reduce the noise to almost Zero.

1. I open the panel, unplug two fan’s connector. leave only one fan that face the bottom hole of laptop to run. 2. I adjusted the circuit by adding two diode to the power supply of the fan, to reduce the voltage of the fan.

so the fan running in a low speed and still cool my laptop. Now the noise is almost Zero.

I like this laptop cooler. It helps keep my gaming laptop cool. It’s also very quiet and what little noise it does make I actually find to be rather soothing and relaxing. It also seems rather sturdy.

I’ve been carrying it around in my backpack for a little while now and it’s held up well. Still looks brand new and the lights are cool, too. :-).

Its half the price than cooler pads of some other brands that are less performing. I did expect more/faster airflow as some reviewers correctly stated, but for me, given the large airintakes of my laptop, its airflow is enough to effectively cool it down 10 to 15 degrees Celcius in contrary to the experience of some other reviewers here.

The reason for that imo is that for my laptop in specific, the fans are in the optimal position in relation with the air intake grill; the lower left fan blows straight in my laptops main air-intake.

The result is effective cooling in my case. tip: check the position of your (main) air-intake grill at the bottom of your laptop before you buy any active cooling pad, make sure you buy a cooler which fans are most ideally positioned for your laptop, if they are not, the cooling is indeed minimal, most people don’t think about that but its important! The blue leds… you love it or you hate it, I honestly don’t hate it, nor love it, its there and it doesn’t bother me, I don’t use my laptop to watch movies but I can understand that in that case it could be slightly bothersome.

The fact of the matter is: its a gimmick and of no use, you don’t even see them when a laptop is sitting on top of it, especially a big one. For me its no reason to refrain from buying though… it would have been if the leds were pink.

I bought this expecting it to be noisier than the fan in my new laptop. But I am pleasantly surprised at the low level noise considering it has 2 fans. I wanted this because I have a new Intel i7 laptop and I didn’t want the internal fan coming on and sucking in dust.

Since I started using it the laptop fan hasn’t come on once. I ordered another one for my second laptop. Tip: It works at its quietest if you have it on a flat surface, if you tilt it you may get a little fan clatter, but that will stop once you level it again.

This laptop cooling pad has 2 large fans and is super quiet. The size is good for most laptops and it has some blue lights that can be turned on or off. Overall, it does a great job and the price is very reasonable.

*UPDATE* I have had this product for a year now and it has held up very well. and much better than I expected. Which is the reason for this update. I had given it 3 stars and questioned the quality of the product and the USB cord which is thin and looks cheap.

I am happy to say I was wrong. This has held up very well over a year and still runs well. I really thought the cord would be the reason for a quick death for this laptop cooling pad but it has held up extremely well.

Even though I have had it plugged in to my laptop on a desk and only picked up the laptop (forgetting the pad was attached) and ended up yanking hard on the cooling pad, causing it to lift up and then bump down onto the desk when I realize my mistake.

I’m not proud to say I’ve done this too many times to count. But it has proved me wrong because the cord is still strong, not frayed or weakened. I updated this to 4 starts and not 5 because of one of the original reasons I had concerns about this item, which I have left below.

But after using this for a year I can say I barely notice the noise anymore, but it is still there if I try to listen to it. Fans make a rattling or vibrating noise. It is pretty faint but loud enough to annoy you once you hear it.

The overall look of it is nice and the bluelights inside the red frame looks great.

The noise from the cooler was low on the initial use, the typing position is good if a bit too raised up. This is not a super-stable platform for typing: the mesh flexes with pressure. The cooler looks reasonably attractive (I like red color).

Unfortunately, it seems it is meant for occasional duty only – i shared this one with a colleague of mine in the office and my guess is that ~14 hours daily for 6 days a week for a month overtaxed the bearings and the fan developed a rattle.

And unfortunately that happened after the 1-month return period.

Had this product for less than 6-7 months and the cable started to come apart at the plug-end. Requested that it be replace because it should not have come apart like it did. This is the 4th cooling pad that I have had over the last twenty years, BUT ALL THE OTHERS WERE OTHER MODELS and not this brand.

Happened to be at MicroCenter and thought this would be a better fan but it really was about the same quality with the fan part. Cable was inferior. Would not recommend since the company wanted me to pay $6 for a replacement.

I shouldn’t have to pay for a replacement since this should not have fall apart. All the other four different brands didn’t fall apart. I. just wore them out after 3-4 years.

It certainly has the size, and the flip up stoppers at the front are awesome for holding your laptop up when you’ve set the legs on the highest setting. It’s great for my purpose as it brings the laptop screen to eye level on my shorter desk.

The fans are powerful enough to keep my laptop cool through light to medium loads. Sometimes my laptop engages the fans, but usually backs off after a minute or so. The noise is noticeable in a quiet room.

It’s not the quietest I’ve heard, but I don’t think you’re going to get much quieter for the amount of air it moves. It does have a ramp wheel at the back if you don’t need it on high all the time, but it’s poorly positioned and hard to get at without moving to change on the fly.

Overall, decent laptop cooler that is easy to setup, just plug in a USB port and go. Variable fan speed control and lights are nice. They are just bright enough to give a cool underglow effect. I hoped the fans were a bit quieter, but they are not that bad, and they do a decent job getting cool, fresh air to the laptop.

The legs on the back create a good angle for sustained gaming or typing/using the laptop and pop-up tabs (with foam cushions) in the front will hold the laptop and prevent it from slipping off. I have a Dell G5 5500 laptop and using the cooling pad brings the running temperature down 2-5 degrees when running the fans on full speed.

It doesn’t seem like much, but it is helpful when gaming for hours and getting fresh air through the laptop is never a bad thing!.

I actually wanted to get rid of an unbearably loud fan in my old Toshiba Portege. I plugged the cooling fan out and did not put the cover back. I placed the laptop on the cooler making sure there were no short circuits.

The cooler does the job quietly. The only thing is that there are no speed levels but it is okay. The CPU now gets up to 61 degrees (Celcius) under heavy load 🙂 I pity all the years went by making me nearly deaf :(.

Purchased due to the heat in my conservatory as mostly use my laptop from the table in the conservatory where it was getting very hot. Used to have to shut down a few times during the day due to heat but havent since getting this fan.

I use my laptop for long periods and became concerned that it was getting too hot. Some research bought up this item and at the price it was worth a try. I have been amazed at the difference it makes, no more over heating, my laptop does not even feel hot.

I don’t run it all the time, but put it on after 1-2 hours. The stand allows for a good clearance under the laptop and the three fans do the rest. The slight tilt on the stand also makes using the laptop for long periods much more comfortable.

I would recommend this item without any reservations. I just wish I had bought one ages ago.

There is a reason this HAVIT HV-F2056 is the editor’s choice on most reviews. It does the job pretty good in cooling your laptop and is pretty quiet. I bought one several years back and wanted a 2nd one.

This one is the exact same product, but a newer revision. 1) quieter 2) lighter 3) USB slots are properly right side up The only thing I noticed is that they sealed the back panel where the fan bearings are.

So if it start losing traction, it would not be able to oil the fan without drilling a hole through the plastic first.

This thing WORKS! I don’t know about other cooling pads, but the HAVIT HVF2056 Is living up to all the great reviews I’ve read leading to my purchase. My Asus Strix GL502 gaming notebook, while running games such as DOOM 2016, gets very warm, borderline hot underneath.

Very uncomfortable on bare skin. Almost intolerable. Not so when using the HAVIT cooling pad. Even after an hour or so of gaming, I can lift the notebook off the cooling pad and it feels just fine on the bottom.

The HAVIT is a must have it for lap use. It also has a nice incline when using the kickstands on a table top. I doubt you will have any issues with sliding in the inclined position as long as your laptop has rubber feet.

This cooling pad is light, quiet, extremely well vented, and comfortable to boot. Most of the time I don’t even have the fan running. I only turn them on when running taxing applications such as gaming.

So go ahead and push the button, you won’t regret it.

Dear sir/Madam, Thank you very much for your inquiry. I am happy to inform you that I am satisfied with the product. I have 2 mi or remarks, though. (1) The front part does not prevent the laptop from siding forwards.

I had to put 2 screws (left, right sides) I the mesh to prevent the laptop from sliding forward, folling off almost while typing. Cooler Master has a raised bar here. (2) My laptop is a Lenovo X1 extreme.

It has at the bottom the exhaust of hot air to the back side,almost under the hinge of the screen. The F-2056 has 1 ventilator there, and 2 on the downside. Thus, it does not cool my laptop enough. The other way around, 2 ventilators on top, 1 at the bottom, would have been better for me.

I have been doing some light photo and video editing with my Alienware laptop. I have been hearing the fan kick on and run furiously. I was casually glancing at items like this when I was at Micro Center for something else and low and behold the ever on the spot Micro Center Dude stopped by for a chat and showed me this one, for $20 how could I go wrong.

When I plug everything in and it turns on it seems a little loud, but it fades from consciousness fast. It is not nearly as loud as my computers cooling fan when it kicks on. With my big old Alienware 17 sitting on this with the fan running all the time the computers fan rarely turns on, even though I am getting deeper in to editing and using 2 and 4 k monitors and multiple programs at the same time.

Seems like cheep insurance to protect my equipment from over heating.

Bought two of these for my girlfriend’s and I’s laptop to cool our Lenovo T490 laptops. I’ll be blunt and say if your looking for something as quiet as a Noctua desktop fan, your never going to find that in a laptop cooler.

However, these are the quietest so far with an acceptable noise level that you would hear maybe walking down an aisle at the office. Definitely not a distraction. I have noticed that it kept our laptops cool by a few degrees.

Only downside besides the “noise” is that there are no stoppers or anything to secure the laptop in place. I’d recommend to use this on a desk solely and not on your lap.

What I received in the mail looks absolutely nothing like what I had ordered online. It is very small and makes my 17″ laptop seem very unstable when I use it upright. It was not silver, it was back.

Very low noise level and so far works far better than my old cooling pad. Would buy again.

For $34. 99, with taxes $44. 61 It’s a little high for what it’s worth, but it does it’s job quite well, using a thin and light laptop with a relatively capable CPU, normally it would run at 60C idle, now at 48C, Which is quite a significant change, and runs very quietly.

But this product should have really been more like $30, maybe $25 at the lowest? I’d still would have bought this at $30 at least, it’s mini usb, which is a bummer, but it does at least come with a cable, and it’s easier plug in then if it was micro usb, and the port would probably last longer.

Ideally it should have been USB C, but considering this unit was still made at least 7 years ago, judging from the oldest reviews, and is still selling to this day, is quite a testament on how effective and, in a way, more durable, but simple, there is not even an on or off switch, so I just connect it to a spare battery pack I had lying around.

Will this last a couple years, probably, maybe even more if taken care of. Overall, it’s simple, made of decent hard plastic, but just a little overpriced.

If you’re looking for a cheap way to cool down your laptop, this is it, but don’t expect a massive difference. All this does is uses two small fans to help circulate air under the laptop. I purchased this after my WFH tasks really started heating up my laptop and while my laptop still runs hot, this takes the edge of for sure.

The bottom used to get fairly hot, too much so for the lap even, but during the same usage with these fans running, the bottom of the laptop remained cool while the top still got pretty hot as usual, just slightly less.

These are external fans after all. If you want something for intense cooling though, there are likely better, though more expensive options. Otherwise this was a worthwhile buy for the money spent and my needs in general.

This is a decent enough cooling pad that will help airflow decently and actual cooling of your laptop minimally. The cooling aspects are derived through two decently sized fans that help circulate slightly cooler air onto and into the bottom of your laptop.

Your internal laptop cooling fans are still doing 99% of the work cooling the system and as such you might see a 1-2° temperature change. This unit is nice because it allows a decent gap between your laptop and the fans, which will stop any issues with these fans interfering with the functionality of your internal cooling system.

The construction is nothing special. Plastic. Black. Lightweight. Overall it’s esthetics will not make it stand out as a high quality investment and the power plug being a thin USB to barrel plug wire will not exude confidence.

The truth here is that the unit does not require any substantial power though and the fact that it is so basically assembled will make replacing the fans much easier when the stock ones decide to die out.

Overall the unit is an OK purchase that won’t let you down as long as you understand what you are getting and what it will really be doing for you. At first, I thought the single fan cooler couldn’t keep up with my ThinkPad like my old two-fan cooler could, because the laptop was getting too hot. Turns out, this is because the fan wasn’t working at all.

I tried several different USB ports on the computer and my docking station, then tried a different USB cable for the cooler that I had from a camera. Nothing worked, the fan just didn’t function. If it DID work, it’s very light weight and I appreciate that the cord comes out the back instead of the side like my old one.

This chill mat has been such a huge help with working virtually from home. It requires no set up – just open up the package and you are ready to go. The mat brings a cable that connects to the computer’s USB port and that is it! The fan started working right away.

It is super quiet – which is great especially if you do not want any extra noise during your zoom calls! My computer is a 13 inch laptop, even though it is smaller than then mat it sits nicely and does not slide around.

The top is made of plastic and has opening all over letting the air from the fan move easily to the computer. My own computer has a built in cooling fan and it does not turn on while I am using this product.

This mat replaces two other mats which eventully broke, worn out by heavy use. I like this one because it is one solid piece, not a hollow stand. It is less likely to crack under hand pressure like the past two which were hollow.

This is a good cool pad for the money. The large fan provides plenty of cooling for my laptop. Since the fan is so powerful, I find it is somewhat loud and therefore only plug it in when my laptop fan accelerates, thus indicating it is getting hot.

After the pad fan turns on, it only takes a few minutes for the laptop fan to turn off. Keep in mind that I use massive graphics for multiple charts for trading, so my laptop uses much RAM. This cool pad does a nice job of keeping things cool.

I like the USB plug that allows piggy-backing, thus not using up a plug slot on my laptop.

I bought this because my Alienware R4 M15 laptop heated up quickly when playing games. This cooling pad helped with the heating. Although it is not as fast as I thought, it stills does it jobs and it’s more quiet than I expected.
