Best Knives For Pumpkin Carving (2026 Updated)

I haven’t actually used these yet, as it’s only August, but plan on using them this Halloween. The set comes in a nice zippered case, similar to what you would store CD’s in (for we old folks who remember those), in Halloween colors of black and orange.

Inside there are 8 tools, each in their individual space where they are securely attached to the case with elastic. What impressed me most about these is that all the tools have a full tang, just like good knives, and have some weight to them, unlike the cheap ones that you get at stores like Target.

There are 4 saw type tools with a variety of teeth per inch, a really nice scoop to get the seeds & guts out of the pumpkin, and three tools that I have no clue what they are for – guess I will need to find a video on pumpkin carving.

I can’t imagine needing anything more than this set to create some amazing pumpkins! If I have any problems after using them I will update, but they seem amazing so far.

I got the ghost face version and my son loved them. They held up great and made carving easy. I only wish it would have came with two pokers for outlining. I had to wait until my son finished so I could use it, instead of us doing it together.

But other than that this is great.

Bought this on a whim and glad I did. We had store bought cheap kits in the past that were junk. I have no idea how it compares to fancier kits but it worked for us. Carving was faster and all the tools gave us greater control.

That made the carving process all the more fun for all of us. Having a zippered kit thats easy to store for the next year was nice too.

Holy smokes, these things are serious pumpkin tools! I feel like they need to be stored in the garage with the hardware instead of with the utensils. First thing my husband said when I took them out of the box was “Are those full time? Wow!” I expect this to be the last set of pumpkin carving tools I ever have to buy.

Heck, these may get passed down to my grandchildren, they are just that sturdy and sharp (And speaking of sharp, I actually wouldn’t let your kids use these unsupervised as they make quick work of pumpkins AND fingers).

Carved 3 pumpkins with them so far and encountered no issues. Easy to hold and cuts through the rind well. The metal scoop is much nicer than the plastic ones I’ve used in the past.

Bought this kit on a lightning deal and it was worth every penny!! I have never carved a pumpkin so quickly and accurately!! The tools that come with the stencil books are garbage and I have kept them over the years because a lot of them break after the first use.

Well I threw them all away after we made our Jack o’Lanterns this year! These tools are made very well, don’t bend, very sturdy and cut through a giant pumpkin without any problem. Happy Halloween!!.

I have two regrets. 1) I did not buy this sooner. 2) I did not buy an extra for gift around me. Different brands give this knife a different name: sausage, tomato, bagel, serrated utility. For me, this is my kitchen’s grunt.

I want to preserve my wonderful bread knife’s fine edge for bread only (Wüsthof Classic 4151), and postpone sharpening of my chef knife by not putting it to cut stone-hard stuff like melons and squash.

This knife fits the bill. Anything nasty in the kitchen goes to that knife, and it becomes fun. This, against watermelon, is so good it is almost laughable. The Mercer Renaissance series is in comparable to other classic knives.

It costs a fraction of the price. What’s the catch? Some say not the same quality of finish. The main difference I can think of is that the modern brand is sharpened at 14° each side, while Mercer are usually 20° each side, which is the old European standard.

This means it is sharp, though not evil sharp. The trade-off is that it should keep its edge longer. In the particular case of this knife, it is a good thing, because sharpening serrated knives is not a trivial thing (few bother, I heard), so it should keep it in a serviceable condition for a long time.

It’s hard to find a reliable professional knife sharpener these days. Hard to find one that does serrated knives. Harder to get both at once. Other than that, Mercer Renaissance and my other brand are the exact same steel type.

This is a full tang knife, and weight balance is wonderful. The tip is sharp. My take is that this belongs in your kitchen if you don’t feel being mean to your bread knife or chef knife. Give all your hatred to this knife, and it will take it!This item, alone, at such a good price, makes the shipping well worth it compared to similar knives you find in retail stores around you.

Our local church has a culinary training program for people who are either unemployed or underemployed, or just looking for a career change. Students graduate with a ServSafe food handler certification.

I teach a knife skills class there, and was not satisfied with the chef knives being used in the program. So I purchased 6 of the Mercer Renaissance 8 inch chef’s knives. I use one of these at home, and am quite pleased with it.

The bolsterless design of the knife is a plus, as the entire blade can be sharpened, without developing that hook that bolstered knives develop over time. These knives hold their edge very well, and so far, have been a huge success.

This quality knife is also made with 9″ and 10″ blade lengths. The overall length of the 10″ knife is ~15-1/4″ which makes it a little large for everyday in-home work unless cooking for a large family.

This is a good quality knife, but it’s made in China. Maybe they used German steel, I haven’t used it enough to tell. The Handle is real Micarta or a very good copy of Micarta and feels really nice in a medium to small size hand.

If my hands were any bigger I wouldn’t like it. The knife is well made but there are minor issues such as the rivet closest the blade isn’t flush with the handle and there are minor imperfections where the Micarta mates with the steel and there was polishing compound left on the handle.

This is a good knife for $37 but you’re not saving $42 by buying it. Update 8/2019: This knife quickly became my favorite, it holds an edge and just keeps cutting, I think I sharpened it once, mostly I run it over a ceramic steel and use it.

I love the handle the scales feel good in the hand and non-slip.

First of all, let me say I don’t normally write reviews unless I’m SUPER IMPRESSED by a product. I bought this knife assuming there would be a scratch or two in the handle, maybe a mis-sharpened blade, something.

For the life of me, I cannot find a thing wrong with this knife. HIGHLY recommended!!!.

These are well made, super sharp and feel good in the hand. This the 2nd one i have added to my collection and there will definitely be a few more to come. This knife is basically a beautiful work of art.

I am not a fan of using these. I did pick up a bunch for the school to jsbe kids carve pumpkins. However they break so easily and they don’t cut deep enough. The scoop isn’t a good scoop to clean out the pumpkins so I will let the kids get dirty and did put the middle with their hands.

The stencil that come with them never stay on the pumpkins I wish they could find away to make it so they stay on pumpkins. I was thinking of maybe adding sticky stuff to the back of the cut out so we can press it on and it stays.

I love this product. I didn’t carve a pumpkin this year but used this kit last year with fabulous results. It is nice to cut intricate details and be able to have a clean inner pumpkin 🎃. This is really the best thing to use instead of digging your hands in to get it out and then a spoon to clean.

Decent pumpkin carving tools, guide book, and template set. A few of the knives, the blades fell out mid-carve. A bit on the dangerous side, especially with slimy hands. This set has inspired some…inspired carved pumpkins for my family.

I kind of wish there was an advanced set available, like we leveled up. 👻.

Firstly Global knives for me are the just the best. well balanced, sharp, light and good looking. If you have never used before you will fall in love instantly. As for this knife, I bought a great set of 6 Global knives and block from Amazon, however the set was missing a carving knife.

so of course had to remedy that. This was the one I chose, and it, as expected, was great. Makes short work of your Sunday roast without ripping your carefully cooked meat Completes the set perfectly.

If you already own any global knives I dont need to tell you how amazingly sharp they are. A decent set of knives is something anybody who enjoys experimenting in the kitchen should have, and I cant rate global highly enough.

You get what you pay for with global. The carving knife is a great addition to my set, and effortlessly carves any meat. My only suggestion to anyone looking for new knives is that the.

I’ve had this knife now for almost a year and it’s my go to for cutting vegetables and fine prep work. Blade is angled very sharply which allows for accurate cuts without mashing delicate vegetables or fruits.

Main critique is that it does not have enough support on the top of the knife if I am cutting through thicker cuts of meat or hard root vegetables.

My first chef’s knife was a Victorinox. They don’t have fancy handles like some blades; they’re functional. The handles are comfortable, not slippery, easy to wash and make you feel safe and in control when handling the knives.

So I decided to pick up a few more – both santoku, one fluted and one regular. They’re just general use kitchen knives and they work great. The fluting doesn’t really matter much for many things but it does means cut veg falls off the blade a little easier.

They’ve been just as expected – good knives, easy to use, sharp as heck! And they feel light and well balanced. I picked up a magnetic knife holder to hold the knives on the wall, which seems good so far – looks good and works well.

I’m a 13+ year chef veteran and I must say I’m very impressed with this knife. I have had a few knife kits in my career and I have been very choosie as of late what knives I should buy. This is my first expensive chef knife and it works well as a daily driver.

I started with the victorianox fibrox 8 inch chef knife to see the quality of the steel, and I use that as a “beater” knife in my work kitchen everyday. It holds an edge really well for the price, and if properly maintained it will last you a lifetime.

This particular knife has a balanced weight to it with a decent weight on the blade. It is thick at the neck to add that weight but the blade is very thin. It will tire you quickly with long projects but is great at getting those precise cuts.

It has a satin finish in the face which doesn’t make it stand out, but I don’t believe your knife needs to be painted gold and laced with diamonds to make it function. The rosewood handle adds lightness but a solid grip.

Since then I have bought many victorianox knives and will plan on finishing my knife set with all victorianox in my knife block.

My wife has painful arthritis in her hands, when possible I do the preparation work when we are cooking but I can’t always be there. We bought this knife in the hope that it would help her by outperforming our existing kitchen knives when cutting vegetables etc.

It has proven to be an excellent buy, cutting veg takes noticeably less effort such that my wife now happily performs such tasks. I pride myself on keeping kitchen knives very sharp using a high quality sharpening system, but this knife easily outperforms anything else we have so it is also now my preferred knife.

I recently purchased this knife. It is an easy paring knife with no skips or hesitations when working with hard fruits. It is comfortable to hold and use with the rounded wood grip.

Which is obviously great if you cook at home a lot. We cook at home about 4-5 days a week. I have had a large set of wusthof fir a long time n decided to think outside the knife box and very happy that I did.

I love this berghoff knife so much I also bought the pairing, vegetable , Boning and bread knife. The edge is pretty amazing and by far the sharpest kitchen knife I have ever owned.

When I used this knife at my daughter’s, it was not like any knife I had at home, and I have plenty. It is a small, well-balanced knife that fits comfortably in my small hand. The tip of it is angled down and makes it easy to carve into anything.

This knife is strong yet very thin and so, so sharp. Slicing is so effortless, especially as it glides through too-soft tomatoes. It makes the average paring knife seem bulky. I ordered a few more to give to the cooks in my family for Christmas.

I first ordered one from a Cooking specialty shop and waited and waited. Finally, customer service said it had been cancelled because it wasn’t available. No heads up from them. I found the knife at Crate and Barrel and had it in less than a week.

Fabulous feeling knife. Handle very comfy and all the weight is in your hand. Pure quality blade and materials. Great edge retention, easy to maintain on a quality knife honing steel. The more weight of a good knife in your hand = more control of the blade (extremely sharp blade mind you).

I have both top end Wüsthof and Zwilling Henckels kitchen knives and I will say the Wüsthof’s seem to have a tad bit better feeling grip over the Henckels. But when it comes to this Ikon line of Wüsthof’s they took it to a different level.

One thing for sure with the “Ikon” line. They a definitely designed for handle holding cutting technique. All the weight is in the handle. This lineup (Ikon) offering from Wüsthof does not lend itself as well for the “pinch grip” for those of us that choke up on the bolster and rear of blade and rock it.

But I’ve noticed a lot of women in their home kitchens over the years like to hold onto the handles of their knives while using them more so instead of a pinch grip. So if that happens to be you then this knife will shine in your hands.

You “will” notice the weight in the palm of your hand. Outstanding knives from a great company.

I have this knife I received as a gift, years ago. It’s been a good knife, holds an edge well. That said, my husband likes the knife even more than I do – he uses it to fillet fish. The rigidity, sharp edge and short length of the blade make it especially good for tough-skinned fish – better than any knife he’s used in all his years as a commercial fisherman.

So, after a brief conversation and filleting session, he decided he wanted a second one. Imagine my delight when I found the exact knife at a fraction of the retail price. Now we’ll have one for the boat and one for the house – happy days.

This knife being large and with a broad blade is great for certain tasks but not for others, like paring. The blade is thinly ground and of Japanese steel (which has a good reputation: think Samurai sword).

If and when it needs sharpening it should only need a tickle with a steel to get the edge back. Most knives blunt because they are used on unsuitable chopping boards. These would include glass and granite etc.

This knife has a broad blade and so it helps to slice bread accurately, it slices cabbage thinly, and it cuts carrots lengthwise with ease. Used in a rocking motion it can also chop herbs. The finger hold also helps to stabilise the blade when slicing, which given it sharpness is comforting.

The plastic handle with rubberised grip might eventually succumb to repeated dishwashing cycles, but only time will tell. Overall its an excellent knife and excellent value for money.

My initial use of the blade was disappointing until I realised there was a ‘knack’ to using this knife. I expected it would chop immediately through a hard vegetable but that is not its purpose. It slices cleanly and well when you take the time to work from front to back in a gentle slicing or rocking movement.

Take your time to get to ‘know’ the knife. It is a good size, has a good grip and is comfortable to use with its touch points along the top for those items where greater control is required. It also looks impressive and is always a ‘go to’ for larger fruit and veg.

I’m proud to own it. Another quality knife from Zyliss.

If you use big knive in the kitchen like myslef, look no more, this one is perfect. Great value for money, comfortable very sharp, the handle is not very heavy but still you feel the weight of the knife, I dont like the knifes which are very light, it makes me not handle it carefully enough.

This one got the perfect weight and the handle got a antibacterial protection, which i find it very helpful.

I have been using Zwilling knives for over 40 years and over that time I now have acquired quite a nice collection ranging from the paring knife to the cleaver. Every one of them is a joy to use with their perfect balance, keen edges, and durability.

This 6 inch Utility Knife is my latest acquisition and it doesn’t disappoint. From the customer service prior to buying it, to the few weeks I’ve been using it, the whole experience has been excellent.

All companies should strive for the excellence in customer care and product quality that Zwilling has achieved and maintained over the four decades in which I have been using their products. There is one very, very, small nit to pick.

This knife doesn’t sit in my wooden block as well as the others due to the design of the base (it’s thicker at that point than the Pro S), and perhaps I should have stayed with the Pro S offerings, but this one looked so sleek, I just couldn’t resist.

It’s beautiful and its a joy to use. Looking forward to using it for the next 40 years!.

I’m into German knives. I like my Wusthof’s and wanted to give Zwilling Pro a go, picking up this 8″ Pro Chef knife along with a 9″ Zwilling Pro Bread knife. It’s definitely got a good edge from the forge and I can’t wait to see how sharp I can make it on my whetstones.

The handle is kinda massive, so it’s better for bigger hands, but I love how they shaped the spine leading into the handle and I adore the added heft. I can rock chop and push chop with ease and I don’t worry at all about cutting myself, I’m comfortable with this knife.

The only issues I do have with the knife are 2 fit and finish things. First, there’s a section of the handle that seems to be melted and either must’ve been improperly molded at the factory or something happened in shipping.

Second, there was a small knick in the blade edge which must’ve been from shipping or poor handling in the store. I got it pretty straightened out on my honing rod so no harm no foul. I’ll take care of it for good on my 1k grit stone.

I grew up using classic European style knives with slightly softer steels and edge angle of 22-24 degrees, They are solid as a rock but a bit heavy and require frequent use of a knife steel to realign the edge.

All the rage now are the thin, light, very nimble Japanese knives that have a very hard steel sharpened to 15 degrees. The edges do not roll like a softer steel would, so you do not use a knife steel to keep the edge aligned properly.

BUT, being such a hard steel, they can chip easily and can only be repaired by having it completely resharpened. Since the steel is hard and thin, the handle of the Japanese knives have to be smaller and lighter to keep the knife balanced properly.

To me, the Zwilling Pro combines the best of the European and Japanese knives. The Zwilling Pro has a very solid as a rock feel with a substantial, easy to grip handle like a European knife and a blade sharpened to 15 degrees like a Japanese knife but not being quite as hard, the edge can be repeatedly realigned with a sharpening steel like a European knife.

Overall, I find that the Zwilling Pro combines the best features of both European and Japanese style knives to make one that is solid as a rock, yet nimble to use. With over 50 years of cooking experience, the Zwilling Pro is a real winner in my book!.

I bought a beautiful ikon creme knife set but the block the gave me is hideous. I don’t mind natural variety in wood but parts of it look like it came from different types of trees. I asked to exchange it for another color and provided photos of what was advertised versus what i received and they refused to do an exchange, and also said they couldn’t see a difference between the ad photos and what i received.

I wish i could add photos but am unable to here for some reason. I paid $800 bucks and they wouldn’t exchange it even though it was still wrapped and they had the other block color available on the website.

I think they have a lifetime guarantee on the knives but they dgaf if you are happy with the whole product. Will send this particular purchase right back where it came from.

The chefs knife on its own is a good knife for small hands, it’s well balanced and stays sharp. But it’s no replacement for the fully forged version. It doesn’t have the weight or control. Regarding the paring knife, it’s a lightweight knife and too small for my hands (I’m 6’5, big hands).

It feels like a small steak knife. Does stay sharp though. The sharpener drags the score down. Its taken chunks out of some of my knives with the honing side. The sharpening side works ok, but if you are buying for the sharpener I’d avoid.

Good value overall on deal for approx $130 at Myer. I’d not buy at full price.

Love this knife. I use it everyday. Perfectly sharp. The point is good too. Don’t have to sharpen it often.

It does what it needs to do! It actually looks quite elegant despite perhaps being simpler in design to some of the other choices. It is very sturdy. I would actually like to give this 4. 8 stars as after a while the meat became softer and gravity took hold, meaning the meat I bought ended up leaning quite at an angle.

To give it credit, it never actually fell off. This also may be down to storing the meat at room temperature in mid summer when it would have been better in a cool dry place.

Good looking product which has everything you need to keep your ham in place. Our screw holes underneath were not particularly accurate and so there is a slight gap between the upright section and the plinth on which it stands.

Apart from that, for money. , it’s excellent value. An instruction sheet on how to make up the stand, and position the ham etc may be useful.

Blade seem like it was good quality, but handle felt very flimsy, and with over a week of use dulled up like some that took over 2 months

This is a precise tool. Use it as a paring knife or for cutting very thin slices on small veggies. Light weight, I’d prefer a little more heft. Satisfied with the quality.

This knife works like a dream. I got this one for my mom. Because her knives suck.

Opinel has been making high quality pocket knives for decades. Their chef’s knife is no different. The wood handle is rather non-slip, and the blade keeps a sharp edge for a long time with only a simple tune up on a steel every so often.

The only drawback for some might be that there is not an awful lot of room between the handle and the bottom of the blade, so this knife is more for a rocking-style cut, rather than an up and down/back and forth cut, like you would do to mince a pile of fresh herbs or nuts.

I found the carving knife excellent, easy to use and to the thickness I like
