I also love that it includes fun information about where yarn comes from, facts about “knitting around the world,” etc. It includes a nice selection of projects. Several will be appropriate for first grade.

It was my 10-year-old daughter who compelled me to purchase this book for her girlfriends birthday. She had borrowed a copy from our local library and really enjoyed the clear instructions and the many interesting projects.

This little unicorn kit turned out really cute and it was a neat project to complete but it could definitely use some improvements. There were some typos in the directions and the stitch counts were off which was confusing.
It is marketed for someone learning to crochet or beginners but I would say it was more advanced beginner. I was glad this was not the first kit I had tried because I would have gotten frustrated and given up.
Also, the crochet hook provided is a joke. It’s a flimsy plastic thing that snapped almost instantly. I used one of my metal hooks instead.
I thought that If I bought a kit with everything, including the crochet hook, then it would come with easy to follow instructions. That is not the case. These kits are for people with experience. Which is odd because anyone with experience has their own crochet hooks.
I know the basics, I’ve made blankets and headbands. The instructions in this kit are too difficult to follow. I thought they would at least have a video tutorial on their website. I can’t even get past the first few steps.
These kits are super cute. I just finished the cactus kit which includes everything you need to either knit or crochet 3 little potted cactus. And I mean EVERYTHING! plus a little extra, just in case.
I made them in crochet. The directions were good and easy to follow. I’m sending to my sister as a belated Christmas gift. Now I look forward to getting started on the unicorn.

I purchased this kit to make a Christmas present. My granddaughter fell in love with it. Especially with the included knitting needles. She wanted to learn to knit so that she could immediately start using them.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have the ability to teach her how to knit. I promised to have the unicorn made for her the next time she came. And I got her a learn to knit kit for her Christmas present.
I picked up a few of these kits on sale just for fun. This is a quick, easy project and the kit includes everything you need. I’m giving it four stars instead of five because there are some mistakes in the knitting instructions for the frog’s arms (don’t know about the crochet instructions) – some of the directions give the wrong number of stitches and don’t account for all of the stitches that need to be worked, and it doesn’t tell you when to switch colors.
I just followed the instructions for the legs instead when I hit those points, since they look pretty much the same, and it turned out fine. Overall, I’m happy with this kit and am looking forward to making the other ones that I bought.

Bought this book for my Mum for Xmas as she recently got back into knitting but could not remember the finer details. Easy to understand and lots of pictures.
I am a complete beginner and thought this would be the book for me, however I got lost between numbers 4 and 5 in how to cast on, suddenly the needles had changed position with no explanation. Later on it suddenly mentioned moss stitch for something I wanted to try but there is nothing to explain how to do moss stitch.

Lovely patterns easily followed with excellent outcome. They are small projects quick to knit on regular needles but some patterns can be converted to knit on dpn’s. It’s wonderful for using up left-over yarns & inexpensive to make.

I knew very very little about knitting, but was interested in getting started. This is a great kit to get you the basics you need when all of the information you find online is too overwhelming. It got me started with my first scarf and now I feel much more confident to dive deeper into this hobby! I will say the book was a little difficult for me to understand, so I searched the terms they used online to find videos to supplement, which worked really well.

My Italian Nana was an excellent crafter. She was highly skilled at everything she tried. My mom, an only child, had not one bit of Nana’s talent. I was the 1st granddaughter, so Nana set out to make me a little crafter in her image.
When I was 5, she started teaching me to crochet & embroider. When I was 8, I started sewing. What Nana never knew how to do? Knit. So, when I was 30, long after Nana had passed, I found this kit. That was 26 years ago.
I wish Nana could see me now! Making sweaters, blankets, hats, tops without seams – all kinds of knit projects. I will admit, the one stitch I had trouble learning from a book was the purl stitch. Once I saw it on YouTube, though, it made sense to me, and then I realized the instructions made sense, I just wasn’t reading them right.
If you are a self-starter who can learn from a book, I highly recommend this kit. Here’s a hint: hold onto those tools, too. They are good quality. Those blue stoppers are – in my experience – the best ever, for all sizes of knitting needles.

So first off this is a big bang for your buck because this kit includes so much stuff. I love how easy the instructions are to follow especially because of the pictures that go along with them. All the supplies is good quality and I’ve had no issues with it.

This is a really fun book and the projects are simple to follow. Except nowhere on the patterns does it say the size of the needle. At the beginning of the book it says use standard size but this does not explain what “standard” means.
Also there are patterns that use both knitting and crochet stitches and again at no point does it state you need these or the size. Once you have gotten over this annoyance the patterns are easy and fun to do.
Which is why I scored it good. But because of the needle issue we have got some very strange sized fish???.
