This knife performs as described. Handle is comfortable. It’s easy to use and is fun to give vegetables, etc. , a fancy look. I often use it for squash that I grill. It cuts nice, thicker slices that are ideal for grilling.

I bought this knife to make zucchini pickles this summer. The knife sliced through the zucchini with no problem and made the pickles look cute. I have also used it on cucumbers for veggie trays and the results were equally good.

I bought this and two others as gifts. What a waste of time and money. This tool is too small to attack a big bowl of mixed veggies and greens and do a uniform job of chopping. I am amazed that I have to go to Amazon to get the larger one that can handle the job and also cut a large pizza.

I like to support local stores, but this time it is online for me.

I ordered this Rocking Chopper Knife after spending a week up at the Zen Buddhist Monastery in Mt. Shasta, CA. I was assigned kitchen duty for my working meditation portion of the retreat. I was so delighted with the practicality and ease of use if this style of knife (which I had never seen before) that I vowed to find one on line as soon as I got back home.

Gave this product as a gift. It looks the exactly same as in the photos, plus it came new and unopened. It was a bit smaller than I expected, but still great to use when cutting up vegetables. Bought it because it uses less pressure and easier to cut if someone has wrist problems.

A onepiece, solid metal design, the 18cm Chopper is deceptively light and slim bladed. Compared to most of the large choppers on the market, it is the lack of weight which you first notice. Dont assume youll have to press or chop harder when using it its balance is really sweet if youre used to a heavier knife, getting used to the weight can be a bit daunting at first, but persevere, youll find the cutting is deceptively delicate, if a matter of confidence in the first couple of days.

Id never used a chopper before, had confined myself to the use of the traditional cooks knife. The chopper makes a valuable addition to your range. It slices vegetables beautifully, and you can quickly adapt your cutting style to chop with speed and safety.

Its more effective and more adaptable that the cooks knife. But, of course, with anything as sharp as this, take your time and rehearse your technique while you get used to the weight and feel of the tool.

From a safety viewpoint, even when wet, the handle is safe and nonslip. Because this is a single forging, there is no danger of the handle coming loose, or of dirt building up in the joints cleaning is much easier.

Using a traditional steel can bruise the metal and actually make the edge more fragile. A stone polishes the edge down to an even sharpness. And Ive taken advice and bought a magnetic strip to hang up my knives if you are going to invest in a high quality blade, take care of it and dont chuck it in the kitchen drawer where its edge can get damaged.

Of course, if you have young children in the house, make sure all knives are safely locked away. Used properly, this is a superb tool, but grabbed by curious young fingers, the edge could be unforgiving, and it must be a tempting shape for young hands to toy with.

This is an extraordinarily beautiful tool. As a practical design, I am absolutely confident of its quality I think it looks great, too, but that really is a matter of taste.

Amazing quality knife. A sharp knife is a safe knife. It will do most things from fine cuts to hard pumpkin* I wouldn’t recommend for rocky cutting herbs, mainly for slicing or dicing. For harder vegetables and pushing cuts I recommend the vegetable knife.

Great choice for a student, apprentice or home cook who loves food. Who want a minimal amount of utensils. I wish It was at least 21 or 23cms long but I am happy and content with it. I have had this knife for 5 months and it takes care of everything.

Avoid frozen meats* you will damage blade. Reccomend the sharpener as well it is your ally!.

Absolutely adore this brand, I have many of their knives, even the knife block set. And so far I have not had to sharpen one YET. (and its now 10+years later) not only are they beautiful to use, they are such a good looking addition to your bench.

Something that I also appreciate is the knife is made with one solid piece of metal, unlike the days of old knives with handles which allowed germs to get stuck in under the black handle-meaning these are alot more hygienic.

They seem expensive upfront, but are definitely worth it, come with a guarantee.

The blade is a good shape, and it is sharp. The handle is comfortable. The weight, length and balance are good. The only problem with this knife is that the coating designed to make it stick less actually makes moist veggies stick more! I really wish this wasn’t a problem, but it can make cutting more difficult as pieces adhere to the blade.

I bought two of these knives. One for my fathr and one for my husband. They both like to make specialty drinks and this knife is a wonderful addition to their wet bars. They work great!

When I used this knife at my daughter’s, it was not like any knife I had at home, and I have plenty. It is a small, well-balanced knife that fits comfortably in my small hand. The tip of it is angled down and makes it easy to carve into anything.

This knife is strong yet very thin and so, so sharp. Slicing is so effortless, especially as it glides through too-soft tomatoes. It makes the average paring knife seem bulky. I ordered a few more to give to the cooks in my family for Christmas.

I have both top end Wüsthof and Zwilling Henckels kitchen knives and I will say the Wüsthof’s seem to have a tad bit better feeling grip over the Henckels. But when it comes to this Ikon line of Wüsthof’s they took it to a different level.

One thing for sure with the “Ikon” line. They a definitely designed for handle holding cutting technique. All the weight is in the handle. This lineup (Ikon) offering from Wüsthof does not lend itself as well for the “pinch grip” for those of us that choke up on the bolster and rear of blade and rock it.

But I’ve noticed a lot of women in their home kitchens over the years like to hold onto the handles of their knives while using them more so instead of a pinch grip. So if that happens to be you then this knife will shine in your hands.

I have this knife I received as a gift, years ago. It’s been a good knife, holds an edge well. That said, my husband likes the knife even more than I do – he uses it to fillet fish. The rigidity, sharp edge and short length of the blade make it especially good for tough-skinned fish – better than any knife he’s used in all his years as a commercial fisherman.

So, after a brief conversation and filleting session, he decided he wanted a second one. Imagine my delight when I found the exact knife at a fraction of the retail price. Now we’ll have one for the boat and one for the house – happy days.

This knife being large and with a broad blade is great for certain tasks but not for others, like paring. The blade is thinly ground and of Japanese steel (which has a good reputation: think Samurai sword).

If and when it needs sharpening it should only need a tickle with a steel to get the edge back. Most knives blunt because they are used on unsuitable chopping boards. These would include glass and granite etc.

This knife has a broad blade and so it helps to slice bread accurately, it slices cabbage thinly, and it cuts carrots lengthwise with ease. Used in a rocking motion it can also chop herbs. The finger hold also helps to stabilise the blade when slicing, which given it sharpness is comforting.

The plastic handle with rubberised grip might eventually succumb to repeated dishwashing cycles, but only time will tell. Overall its an excellent knife and excellent value for money.

My initial use of the blade was disappointing until I realised there was a ‘knack’ to using this knife. I expected it would chop immediately through a hard vegetable but that is not its purpose. It slices cleanly and well when you take the time to work from front to back in a gentle slicing or rocking movement.

Take your time to get to ‘know’ the knife. It is a good size, has a good grip and is comfortable to use with its touch points along the top for those items where greater control is required. It also looks impressive and is always a ‘go to’ for larger fruit and veg.

If you use big knive in the kitchen like myslef, look no more, this one is perfect. Great value for money, comfortable very sharp, the handle is not very heavy but still you feel the weight of the knife, I dont like the knifes which are very light, it makes me not handle it carefully enough.

This one got the perfect weight and the handle got a antibacterial protection, which i find it very helpful.

Over all great knives, especially for the price. One small complaint is that the shape of the handle makes it hard to balance it on the edge of a plate/dish. I know they’re meant to be prep knives but I use the small one as a dinner knife sometimes & it usually ends up sliding down into my food unless I take special care in the way I place it.

The blades were pretty sharp initially but they required sharpening sooner than I expected given the overall quality. For an, “entry level,” knife set these are an excellent choice.

I just used these knives to cut veggies for a homemade stuffing. Wow. Celery and onions sliced liked they were butter. I have a knife block with two-year-old knives which I have kept sharp. These two Calphon fruit and veggie knives made cutting so easy and fast.

I sliced celery a 1/16 of an inch think and with my other knives I would be happy if if could chops down to a quarter inch. Cooking is so much better and fast with these two new Calphalon knives. I will look into a new block in the coming year.

I currently own the Calphalon classic 4. 5 inch and love it. Decided to try these out though I wasn’t expecting much bc it was priced low and yeah, I think you get what you pay for. Well I was blown away.

I used it to cut green onions and it was so sharp and smooth and it cut through to the bottom, which I generally have issues with. I’m actually ordering 2 more sets to gift. Perhaps my older Calphalon and Wustoff knives need to be sharpened, but at this price point, I’m thrilled to own this set based on initial use.

My friend used this knife when she was over for lunch one day and fell in love with it. I sent her one for her birthday. It’s excellent. Perfect to cut just about anything if you keep the blade sharp.

The magic is in the weight of the handle. Perfect for dicing vegetables when I make soup but will also cut a tomato perfectly. I love this brand, there is no handle to break or fall off. I’ve been using them since Anthony Bourdain said that was all he ever used.

I find this specific global chopper knife to be one of a kind. Its shape and size gives it a nice balance with a very pleasant grip. I highly recommend it. Cooking with such knife makes a world of difference.

Got this to replace a lost Global knife in my knife block. Can’t go wrong with the Global knives. Excellent, quality product.

The SG2 steel is easily resharpened on higher quality Japanese waterstones and holds an edge well. A Kiritsuke knife oattern is new to me but functions much like a standard Santoku in my hands. The handle is solid and high quality but heavier than a standard wood handle on a traditional Japanese knife.

Great for rocking cuts – makes chopping celery a joy. I thought I would miss the “hollow edge” with the cutouts to keep things from sticking, but I don’t in the least. Shaving sharp, absolutely beautiful presentation, and a seamless finish.

My favorite part? The handles feel like wood, but should last much longer.

Absolutely Fantastic. I like it better than my Mac knife; the handle is a little bigger which fits my hands better even though I do not have big hands. The blade is super sharp and I like the weight of the knife.

I was initially looking at a zwilling or wusthof boning knife but tried this Tojiro and it turned out to be a really good buy. The shape and curve is very nice. The weight is great. The spine is neither too thick nor too thin.

The blade does not flex so if you are looking for a boning knife with flex, this knife is probably not for you. I’ve used it for whole pork leg and shoulder, large cuts of beef. I was worried the size would make it awkward to use with chicken but its not problem at all.

I have yet to sharpen it. Ive been careful with it but it seems to keep a nice edge.

If you work in a commercial kitchen you come to find nothing is more absolute than someone stealing your cutlery. So, you never buy expensive / bring in with you expensive gear unless it will never leave your sight (rare).

There are a multitude of chef knives in this price range, but the DR 12443 is among the best I have ever used. Here are the reasons why: A) The blade holds its edge for an extended period. You sharpen at your desired angle (20 – 22.

5 degrees is more than adequate), and as long as you practice proper knife skills, the edge will hold for weeks in a commercial setting, just make sure to hone as needed. B) The knife is easy to keep clean.

it is NSF certified and can be cleaned by hand or in a machine. It’s easy enough to do by hand, but mine has seen dozens of washings in a commercial machine, to no ill effect. C) It is not a cost prohibitive item.

In fact, for the price here, you can buy sharpening stones and be set for years for pennies on the day. Dexter-Russel is a well known brand, and the DR 12443 represents the brand well. I highly recommend this knife because, most importantly, the knife functions flawlessly.

beim arbeiten liegt das messer guti n der hand und man läuift nicht gefahr, abzurutschen. und das ist auch gut so, denn es ist wirklich unfassbar scharf. anfangs fand ich es sogar ein bisschen gefährlich weil es durch zwiebeln zum beispiel wie durch butter schnitt.

durch verschleiß ändert sich das, aber das ist innerhalb der norm, denke ich. alles in allem kann ich das messer nur weoter empfehlen, für normale, alltägliche ansprüche ist es wirklich top!.
