20 Best Knee Pads For Wrestling (2023 Updated)

Must read all small print. Ordered a pair of knee pads, when it arrived there was only one in the package. After looking over the ad a few more times I found in small print at the bottom of the page that it was sold individually and not as a pair.

Funny the price was for a pair though. huh.

We bought this for my son for wrestling. He was building fluids up on his knees. It has helped tremendously!!!

Just what I needed. Nice thick padding and fit is just right

Intended use: XC and Down country. The goal was to find protection that allows for pedaling and attacking the hills and flat sections while offering enough protection when washing out or shaving a tree a bit too close.

Hopefully, it would also save me from minor drops and jump mistakes. At first the product felt like answering the requirements, was flexible, held position (on the knee), and provided protection against heavy tree brushing.

However, after 5-6 rides, it starts not to hold in place anymore, and there is nothing more annoying than that. Kind of pulling your socks up every minute while running!!!. I wish they would have provided a micro adjustment to tight up the “deformation” of the gear.

I still ride them, I am in about 15 rides with them, and clean them just to make sure, but nothing changed. The idea is good, but the experience degrade fast over time. If it held over time, it would be a 4.

5 star in my book, but it is a 2. 5 at this time!.

This is my second pair of these, the first ones were the original style. Obviously depending on what type of riding you’re doing G-form and various other companies do offer plenty of more heavy duty options.

With that being said, I find that these are absolutely perfect for the majority of riders. They offer plenty of protection if you do have a crash imo, but without the bulk, weight, or restriction of movement that often comes with those more “heavy duty” options.

I simply slip these on and forget that they’re there. They are super light, fit great, and don’t impede your movement or pedaling whatsoever imo. Couldn’t be happier with them, after buying my first pair I gave my POC knee pads to a riding buddy.

These are fantastic knee guards. I just received them and went straight to try them on. I’m a larger rider and could not find anything that would fit. I understand that people that are larger might not be the largest demographic in this sport but we do exist and it’s nice to see someone acknowledges us 🙂 I have a 25.

5″ thigh and 20″ calves and the Pro-X3 Knee Pads in XXL fit great. They are super light, extremely breathable and really don’t feel like they’re there at all. The exterior padding is very flexible and on the inside is molded to allow air to move around and exit keeping your knee cool.

The sock is a smooth, silky material which is cool to the touch and uses a bonded rubber strip to help hold itself up and prevent it from sliding down. For me I found that folding it over a couple of times placed the band in a more comfortable spot.

These go down to my mid calf and would pair nicely with the upcoming shin guards that G-Form should be releasing soon. I love that they don’t use velcro straps that eventually bury themselves in your skin.

I also love that these are machine washable. Nothing is worse than great protection that is also smelly from use. I would strongly recommend these. Now if only more manufacturers made larger MTB shorts and jerseys :).

I tried out 6 different pads for use as an under the jeans bmx/street pad. I wanted something with good side protection for the joint (to cover the sides of the tibial and femoral heads) and low profile that isn’t so noticeable.

Note: All pads except the Dakine Agent were a soft material that I think subject to being easily torn on abrasive terrain if not worn under long pants. This is what I found … **Troy Lee Designs Speed Knee Sleeves** Ultra low profile but only covered the front of the knee.

Folds up/bunches when you bend the knee as they are flat pads. That might have been ok under jeans, but they didn’t cover the sides at all. They would literally only give you protection if you fell on the front of the knee.

**Seven 7iDP Sam Hill Lite Knee Pads** Excellent fit and very comfortable. The pad almost moulds itself to your knee shape. Excellent build quality. Medium-Low profile – hardly noticeable under jeans, but it lacked the side protection.

**Dakine Agent Knee Pads** Excellent fit and medium profile. These would be my No 1 pick for MTB wearing with shorts for a bit of rugged enduro riding. Excellent side protection. Excellent quality materials.

The front pad has an interesting square shape to the edges where they stitch onto the main chassis, rather than just curving around the sides they bear forwards and look really cool. the top strap has a rubber end that catches on the shorts when making a pedaling motion.

Stretching the strap all the way across (tighter) so that the rubber end doesn’t sit at the front solved the problem. They have a sturdy nylon material compared to all the others which are cloth and more suited to being worn under long pants.

Because of the quality, the look, and the functionality, I almost bought these for MTB but really I was looking for lowest profile BMX pads with side protection hence I had to resist. I did toss up between these and the TLD Stage pads but Stage has a noticeably lower profile under jeans and a softer/more absorbent pad (tested by falling on knee on tiled floor).

The harder/stiffer pad of the Dakine would probably be better if you fell on rocks with edges, not a flat floor but obviously I didn’t test that. **Dakine Slayer Knee Sleeves** Good side protection, medium-low profile – hardly noticeable under jeans.

It was between these and the TLD Stage pads in the end for me. The TLD had a slightly larger profile under jeans – just barely by maybe an extra 3mm? but were noticeably more absorbent, tested by falling on knee on tiled floor, worth sacrificing a few mm higher profile.

The shin area has lower profile padding than the TLD which makes the knee cap area stand out more under jeans compared to the stage, which has a thicker shin pad, which makes the knee / shin shape more even looking and in a way therefore less noticeable despite being a bit thicker overall.

**Troy Lee Designs Stage Knee Guards** Good side protection, medium-low profile – hardly noticeable under jeans. Best pad of all the pads tried out as they almost mould to the knee shape and provide the most plush protection from knocks.

Ultimately I chose these as it had the most plush pad, fairly low profile, and good side protection. The sleeve is very long and extends very low on the shin, and very high on the thigh. Having used now for a month, I do find that the top cuff is tight and becomes uncomfortable after a few hours, so I just make sure that I only put them on when I ride.

The bottom cuff is a bit loose – which is not a problem for me as it can’t be seen under jeans. They would look really cool in shorts if the bottom cuff wasn’t baggy and loose – I could stitch them up a bit however, the material I think would tear quite easily on rocks or concrete if worn with shorts and ultimately my application is for under jeans BMX/street hence non-issue for me other than seeing it when I am suiting up.

**100% Teratec Knee Guards Black** Excellent fit and very comfortable. Medium-Low profile – hardly noticeable under jeans, but it lacked the side protection. Almost identical to the 7iDP, but the 7 has a slightly better fit, the pad moulds to the knee a bit better, and build quality.

So far, I love these pads, for two reasons. 1. They are longer overall, so the protection portion covers more of my shin. The sleeve portion above the knee does sit high, but I believe it wouldn’t be as effective at staying on without that kind of length.

2. They are sooo comfortable. I find myself wearing them all day without even noticing they’re on. While pedaling, I don’t notice them and they don’t move around or slide up or fall down. I’m seeing some comments about them being less malleable in colder temperatures.

It would make sense, given that the SAS Tech is a malleable material itself, but I’ve ridden mine all day in temperatures peaking at 50° F or for shorter evening rides between 30° and 45° often and had no comfort issues.

For sizing, I feel like they fit true to size. Note: I do have to wear these underneath my riding leggings directly on my skin, otherwise the silicone tape on the sleeve ends don’t work and the top slides down.

I will say that I haven’t crash-tested these other than getting hit hard in the shin by my pedal once and didnt feel it, but I feel they are a good medium-weight, medium-intensity knee pad. For those wanting hard, heavy-duty protection, you should look at heavier-duty pads.

Just purchased the 7iDP Sam Hill Knee Pad! Have only had one solid day of riding on these. So this is my initial review. Most of my riding is more downhill oriented, and though these are more advertised as a trail/enduro pad these feel great for light DH.

Slipping these on, they take a sec to get in position as they are a longer pad than your traditional knee pad. There are no Velcro straps, just some silicone grip inside the upper portion of the pad.

The protective insert, cups nicely on the knee and extends a few inches down the shin for added protection, without feeling like a shin guard. The side of the knee has very minimal padding which is a bummer, but typically the hardest impact will be straight on, so I’m not too hung up on that.

I spent the day hiking and doing DH runs. These pads were comfortable to wear all day. Never having to adjust them. Can’t ask for more. They feel a little warm but more in the since of wearing a knee brace sock, because they run up the thigh to keep them from slipping down.

Very light weight. Curious to see how they hold up long term and in a crash. But if you’re a trail rider to an aggressive enduro racer looking for the next new pad to keep you happy and safe on the trails, look no further the 7iDP Sam Hill Pads are for you!.

You can tell that these knee guards are high quality and well thought out. I love the zipper feature which allows you to put them on right over your knee instead of having to pull them up over your foot.

I found however that they run very small! I am 5’9″, 140 lb female. So I am not petite but by no means am I large either. I was surprised at how tight and uncomfortable the size medium was for me, especially when the sizing is supposed to be unisex.

I don’t believe that even with stretching they would fit well enough and I had to return. Hopefully they work for others though!.

Best set of knee pads I’ve owned. The ability to apply or remove them quickly and without having to take your shoes off is tops! I’ve raced several Enduros and bombed down plenty of chunky trails and found that I don’t even think about them as they don’t slip or move and are very comfortable.

I even use them when I’m shredding on my Onewheel, they strap right over my jeans. Also love that they are made in the USA. Great customer service as well.

I purchased these knee pads about a month ago for onewheeling, I haven’t fallen with them on yet but they are comfortable to wear and they don’t look to bulky. They’re formed to fit a bent/ crouched knee, so while riding a onewheel it contours perfectly but while walking it’s a little less to be desired.

4 stars because they don’t breath so well. Overall I’d buy this product again. I’m definitely interested in the the elbow pads.

The youth size works well with my tall harley style boots. They go on and off quickly and are light and comfortable to ride with on the street. The construction protects against heat and they stay in place perfectly, compared to pant mounted shin guards.

I am very happy with them,,, and they served me well as I slid on asphalt during an off last year. I don’t ride without them now,,,, great value !!.

For the price these are unbeatable, but don’t expect them to the be the best. They’re comfortable enough, but I don’t “forget they are there” like some others said. The knee portion, since it doesn’t have a strap, tends to want to move around (forward and backwards) while I’m riding.

The bottom section tucks nicely into my boots though. Airflow is okay, nothing crazy. There’s no doubt these will save my knees and shins in the event of a bad fall. Still would recommend them, but if I were to do it over I would buy more expensive ones with a third strap above the knee.

The best kind of apparel does its job without the rider knowing it’s there. The knee guards are just that. I cannot speak to long-term durability, but the break-in ride/race was a non-event. Never even knew they were there until I hit the ground and my knees didn’t feel much at all.

One thing these guards share with most others is an upper strap which wraps around my calf, right where my leg bends. The strap can irritate that area, but I learned long ago that the upper strap isn’t necessary when wearing motocross style pants and boots.

The knee guards aren’t going anywhere and probably don’t even need any straps at all. I just use the bottom strap and all is good. If anyone can ever make guards with an upper strap that doesn’t irritate, they’ll probably get 5 stars.

These guards are not bulky and will fit inside just about any pants that aren’t commonly found in Yoga studios.

For those of you on the fence about whether to get knee pads or not, I say do it. I am primarily an alpine skier but live in an area covered in sharp loose rocks paired delicately with a shallow snowpack.

Rox everywhere, all the time. My first pair of TeleKneesis pads lasted me from 2007 until 2022 (with an average of 100 days/ season of use). I still have them as backup. The new ones are even better with top strap made of a more stout elastic.

They’re low-profile enough to fit under most ski pants, and adaptable enough to use in conjunction with a knee brace. They’ll keep your knees warm (but not sweaty) and protect your patellas when you’re rooting around on your knees for whatever reason.

Some people complain about the buckles spontaneously undoing themselves from time to time, but it’s never been much of a problem for me. They’re lightweight too. 10/10 recommend.

So knee pads are usually a pain because they slide around and don’t stay in place. Additionally they are usually uncomfortable. The Black Diamond Telekneesis knee pads stayed in place without having to adjust them even once.

There were not uncomfortable like most knee pads. I honestly forgot that I was wearing them until the end of the day and got all my gear loaded up and got in my Tahoe to drive home, then realized I still had them on.

I can’t attest to longevity yet, but I will say I have had them for about a year and forgot every time I needed them to throw them in my kit. So for being in my Tahoe for a little over a year, surviving two Alabama summers and one winter, I was surprised they were already starting to separate at the glue points.

I plan on buying 2 or 3 more. Several guys on my tac team are looking at buying them rather than the extremely expensive other brands.

I’m a volunteer ski patroller for a smaller midwest hill that has a pretty, shall we say, solid base (kinda icy). I’m also a toboggan skills trainer for the patrol, which means I spend a lot of time on my knees (on that icy base), packing and unpacking toboggans to run training drills.

These pads have made life so much better as I do this. The pads are comfortable to wear, they are flexible, they have enough padding without being bulky, and the protection is hard enough to stop the crud from hurting.

Plus I can now kneel on ice and snow in comfort and additional warmth. I have literally told everyone on the patrol they need to get these. They are probably sick of hearing me talk about my new knee pads.

These were good quality – they just run small. We have the same brand, also in size youth and they fit but this pair was much too small. Not sure why the sizing was so different. Had to return. Also quite expensive compared to other top rated knee pads on Amazon.

I bought this about a month ago. My daughter plays basketball and was getting a lot of bruises and court burn on her knees. Who knew girls rec league would be so rough? We bought these for her and they fit well and worked perfectly for the rest of the season.

We love that they are not bulky.

This is the third pair of these knee pads my 11yo son has had in a sixth month period. He uses them for basket. The first pair started to tear on the front of the knee and foam started to come out after about two months.

I didn’t have the receipt so I had to buy another pair of knee pads. Unfortunately Dicks didn’t have a different brand so I was forced to buy the same ones again and sure enough after about a couple of months the same thing happened.

This time I had the receipt and dicks exchanged them for me with no issue. I kept the receipt for the third pair and if they rip again I’ll just keep exchanging them. If you have an option don’t buy these knee pads.

I’ve used these since wrestling in 2002 and still use them in Jiu-Jitsu. They have changed them from the old style I was used to. Now they have a pad on inside and out to make them fully reversible. I prefer the old style but a great long lasting product none the less.

Bought this for my son who complained his knee was bothering him when he started wrestling. He said he works great, fits good and no longer has issues with his knee while wrestling.

I’ve used many different types of kneepads, but Asics gel has always been my top choice for wrestling. I have to admit its a finest kneepad I’ve ever used, but only complain I have about is the kneepad’s durability and hygiene.

I had problems such as stitching falling apart after couple of washes, gel pad breaking inside my kneepad, and it stretching about 2 or 3 inches. Another downside is, its very difficult to maintain good hygiene with this kneepad.

It eats up your sweat and let its rot there forever!! and the smell doesn’t come off no matter how many times you wash it. But other than that, this kneepad is just excellent. If you have any shock sensitive knee problems this kneepads not for you.

It doesn’t absorb the shock as well. Its like having a shooting sleeves with very little cushioning, and I hope my review helped.

Bought this for my son’s wrestling match since they are always falling on one knee. This has helped him improve his techniques with any movements that require him him to fall on his knees. Had good cushion for support and enough tightness to hold up without slipping all the time.

I recommend for sure.

I have previously purchased my last knee pad at this store. It lasts a long time and help me win a lot of matches. I am trying to keep the same momentum with this new pad.

My son is a heavyweight grappler and limited himself from hard falls on his knees to save them. These knee pads have opened up a new world of hurt for his opponents, he says he doesn’t feel anything anymore with drop knee techniques or hard shoots, and has no fear to do them now.

They fit great! Very first time playing volleyball and the quality and price is perfect for a beginner

These are exactly what I needed to give me some knee protection while mountain biking. They’re comfortable, lightweight, and fit under clothing easily. The non-slip strips work well – the pads don’t slip at all.

The fit was also perfect! The sizes run a tad small, so remember to follow the instructions and measure above and below your knees for the best fit. I normally wear a Medium in everything, but for this pair of knee pads I bought Large.

I’m very happy with this product. They arrived quickly, too!.

Totally not a BMX guy. but these work as great under clothes and so are suitable for skateparks. Naturally is use the heavier knee and elbow pads if I were doing vert skating, but for street and freestyle scenarios these are great.

These are the first pad I’ve ever worn that didn’t restrict my movement. They are also east to wash. Plus they fit under your clothes.

I was looking for knee guards less bulky than my dh ones for enduro and cross country rides. My first ride I wore them in place from start to finish (typically I’d leave them lose around my ankles for the climb until I get ready for the descent) to put them to the test with lots of pedaling.

and they stayed put the whole time! I never had to adjust them, they did not pinch or slide around, overall just very comfortable. They do claim to be very breathable but I definitely got sweaty underneath them, and I live in a very dry climate at almost 10,000ft.

I’ve only used them a couple of times, but feel I can already highly recommend these for a peace of mind on your next ride-I never thought I needed them for the daily rides until I got in a crash that tore my knee up.

Don’t be like me and wait until AFTER. For reference, I ordered a size Small and I’m female, 5’6, 120lbs.

I’ve pedalled about 50 miles in these so far, and have really liked them! They are a great alternative to my more downhill oriented pads for less technical days around my local trails. I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

I haven’t crashed in them yet, but I’ve noted that the material holds up well against tearing, when they’ve brushed on my pedals, or brushed against rocks, things that have tore other knee pads I own.

Despite being fairly durable, they are light enough that I feel great in them on the heavier pedaling days.

I used the sizing chart to order online and the Pads fitted perfectly. Pads are well made. They do get a bit wet from perspiration, but hat is to be expected here in Perth during the summer when temperatures can be in high 30s/ low 40s.

Easy enough to remove the protection and hand wash if necessary.

My daughter has gone through a lot of knee pads playing basketball almost year round. We recently ran into a problem with the other brand she wore as they completely changed the pads, and she didn’t like them at all.

These are hands down her favorite knee pads, and really the only pads she’ll wear anymore. They are the most comfortable, longest lasting, and have the best fit! Please don’t change a thing about them! We will be purchasing many more of these in the years to come, I’m sure.

Time will tell on durability of product. Delivery was fast and low shipping cost compared to other companies shipping cost for similar products. Good fit and I feel these should help protect knees from hard impacts.

Again only time will tell, the five star rating is on my first impression of the product. Have purchased arm and calve compression sleeves and they have worked well and still look great after several years of use.

We love these knee pads. My daughter plays basketball everyday of the weeks and these by far the most durable pads we have tried. Since finding then we have bought numerous pairs in each color. They have fast delivery and great service.

For trail rides the K-Traze pads offer a solid amount of protection in a slim form factor. They’re easy to take on and off thanks to the zipper, and fit well under most pants / shorts. My biggest gripe with them is the fit.

The kneepads bunch while pedaling to the point that I can’t do long back-to-back rides with them on because the skin on the back of my leg becomes so raw / sensitive. If I were to do it again, I would instead purchase the burly version of Ion’s pads (K-Pact), which I own and love.

They are a little bit longer in length so there is more surface area for the pads to grip on and as a result seem to stay in place better. Plus, totally personal preference, but the burly pads offer side knee protection which better suits my style of riding (i.

e. burly all mountain / enduro).

I really wanted to like these. I really did. The construction seems superb and the padding seems just right for a trail knee pad. Their sizing is way off through. By their sizing chart I should have been a medium.

I read elsewhere they run small so I ordered a large. When they arrived I could barely get them up my leg- I thought I would bust the seam! Moral of the story- order at least a size big. Maybe two.

These pads have all of the features you can ask for and blend the line of a trail and dh pad. I guess some people might call that enduro?! They’re comfortable to pedal in, but offer more protection than a sleeve pad.

Would still consider them lightweight and breathable. THE ZIPPER IS SO CLUTCH. Being able to put your pads on or pull them off with your shoes on comes in handy a lot more than you’d think. They might fit a little bit big, but I also have pretty skinny quads and calves, so I went for the small and after a few rides they stretched just to where I need them.

Worth the money and on the money!.

Good value for the price. Good protection at a minimal price. Not professional grade but suitable for small projects around the house.

They work really well – far better than my previous ones! They fit well and stay in place – and were a good price.

The straps are awkward but the pads themselves do the job, Active framer, 66 years old.

I especially like the latches, easy to get on and off that way. I don’t have to fully tighten the straps to make them stay put like I did with my old knee pads, which are built more like the KP1s.

i’ve beat the tar out of these and they still show little wear and have good padding. i’m very happy with them.

next to my pro tec these are ok, neat design, plate is great when u fall so u slide instead of rolling bought some pro tec i prefer the backing layer in them.

We had ordered the lower spec version and it wasnt possible to get them from warrior so I received a call from Willie’s and they sorted out the next spec up with a bit if a discount that was appreciated.

My son has reported that they are comfortable and although more substantial than his previous pair, they still fit nicely under his leg pads. He is on the smallest end of the size bracket so needed to make sure the velcro was done up tightly.

Overall very happy as its difficult to get the sizing right on line.

Just upgraded from the previous version, no big changes but definite improvements. Straps have been lengthened and the shape is better making them feel less bulky. Very happy with them.

They look like they provide lots of protection, but I keep finding bruises on my inner knee, in the region that points toward the ice in the butterfly. I checked a YouTube video to see if I was wearing them incorrect, and they are being put on correctly.
