20 Best Knee Pad For Gardening (2023 Updated)

One of the best purchases I’ve ever made. So simple and inexpensive but very much needed. My father and I have been using this exact kneeling cushion for about 6 years with no problems. We’re very happy with them.

We both have very sensitive knees (me close to 60, Dad in his 80s). Even kneeling on a rug is painful, and forget hard ground. But this cushion allows us to do many things we normally could not do. I use it for gardening (to sit on, or to rest my elbow on if laying down to reach back under bushes, and to kneel on).

We both use it around the house to do cleaning and repairs where we have to get on the floor, and in the garage when we have to get down low and kneel to repair something. I use it for yoga. It’s also great as a seat cushion on hard wooden bleachers, a park bench, or a rock.

Yes, I’ve actually been in a situation where I absolutely had to sit down while traveling by car and the only open “seat” at a rest stop was a boulder that wasn’t very smooth. It saved me from great difficulty.

The reason I like this size and shape (rectangle, 11×18 inches) instead of some square cushions I’ve bought is because this is 18″ long. Most square cushions are 12-16 inches wide and that’s a little too small for me (I’m a big gal).

With other cushions I feel like I’m squeezing my knees together to keep from the edges, but not with this cushion. I also like how durable it is. We’ve used and abused ours for years and they’re still holding up as good as new as far as comfort.

Yes, they will get dirty and marked up, and you may even manage to puncture it if you put it on sharp objects (like rocks, pebbles, jagged cement) but the punctures and scratches only affect how it looks, not how well it works.

I’ve never had one crack or rip, they just holes and scratches from laying on pointed or sharp objects like rocks or jagged cement (which is expected). And, it has a lifetime warranty!! I love this cushion so much (and the price at Walmart is half of what I’ve paid at other stores) that I’ve purchased several more for myself and as gifts.

I now have two in the garage (one for doing repairs, one for the garden), and three in the house (one on each floor of the house, one just for yoga and exercise). And I’ve purchased them for gifts for those who garden, and for the men (and women) in my life that work on cars or do a lot of household repairs.

And since it’s so light, it’s very cheap to ship when gift giving to someone who lives far away. I see this as a great tool and gift for: > Gardeners > Handymen & Do-It-Yourselfers > Camping, Hiking, Picnics (to sit on the ground, boulders, wooden picnic benches) > Those who do yoga > Anyone who has to kneel (or get into a crawl space) for a living > Anyone who experiences pain while kneeling > Anyone who frequents games or concerts where there are hard bleachers.

Nice size and good cushion. However, the color is much more muted than what is represented on screen. It looks like a bright olive color online, yet it looks like a muddy army green in real life. Great if you don’t really care about the color.

It’s difficult to find a mat of this size so you can kneel on one side as you weed for prolonged periods of time. It’s big enough and provides sufficient cushioning. I would like to see all of these mats covered in a slick exterior coating so they can easily be washed down at the end of the day or when they get really grubby.

For people using them in a garage situation, they would probably absorb oil and chemical fluids as they are porous. Considering how much these things probably cost to manufacture, they could upgrade them a bit for better customer satisfaction.

All things said, you will be hard pressed to find a mat of this size on the market and if you were lucky enough to find one with a slick coating you’re going to pay a lot more.

I have owned a Burgon Kneeling cushion for several years and this was exceptional quality. Unfortunately I lost this one and sought to replace it. The ‘new’ model is very inferior in quality to my original cushion.

It seems to be made of cheap quality memory foam layers, which move around, and very quickly loses its shape with use. Very disappointing!.

I love the cushioning for knees -but as it is intended for garden use this kneeler needs one side waterproof. Both sides are cover in an absorbent jersey fabric. I cannot say it is not good quality -but not 100% fit for purpose.

The Kneelo has enough sponginess to feel comfortable for knees. Also lightweight and nice to find a garden knee pad that looks modern. 👌

I bought this to use inside the house as a block to sit on while doing forward stretching exercises. The only blocks I had found before this were about 8 inches, and I am a bit bigger than that ! This is thick and sturdy, and I know it will work great for gardening if I ever use it for that purpose.

Quick 5 minute install and fit my Ring Doorbell (original Gen 1) perfectly. Good range of motion. Wish it had just a bit of vertical angle adjustment, but otherwise very good.

These are GREAT. I would recommend then to anyone to save their knees for their older years. Great for gardening, cleaning, tub seat, or about any other task requiring a person to be on their knees.

This is the best pad I’ve ever had for gardening. I have knee issues and it makes kneeling down pulling weeds tolerable now. I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND

I recently purchased this knee pad and I was pleasantly surprised by how large it is. I’ve had knee pads in the past that I constantly have to scoot this way or that in order to keep my knees on the surface of the pad.

This Harbor Freight pad won’t have those problems. On the negative side of things, this pad is really hard and stiff. I’m a big guy and when I kneel on it, my knees barely make a dent into the material.

It’s not very comfortable to kneel on. On non-Harbor Freight pads, my knees usually sink into the material comfortably. Often times I’ll put a non-Harbor Freight pad on a 5 gallon bucket and sit on it to take a quick break.

I tried that with this new HF pad and honestly, it was more comfortable to sit on the hard plastic bucket. Similarly, I sometimes use the other knee pads as a quick cushion on a hard wooden chair. The Harbor Freight pad was absolutely not comfortable when I tried to take a quick break on a wooden chair that I had laying around.

While this pad is not comfortable to kneel on or to sit on, it seems very rugged and impenetrable if you need to kneel on something sharp or very bumpy (like rip rap or river rocks). For me, I’m not going to use it very much (if at all) but I can’t say that it is of poor quality or cheaply made.

It’s big. It’s hard. And maybe it’s for you.

Being a professional carpenter with more than 20 years experience being 29 years old, knee pads are very much my friends. THIS knee pad offers more cushion and thus more protection for those with more easily agitated knee joints.

I have been using the typical thinner pads for several years and had to try this one when I saw it. and I will not go back! I use these gently but regularly on job sites. It won’t hold up to sharp or consistent rough surface wear but most of my work is not in those environments.

I have seen similar ones sold elsewhere for 3X the price and those have cushioning that is softer -too soft. I and my happier knees joyfully and enthusiastically recommend THIS kneeling pad -BEST Kneeling Pad.

Ok as a guy with a few year under my belt I have realized the need to save your knees. This does just that. Not a lot to say about this other than I found it to be a rather tough foam compared to other more spongy kneeling mats I have used in the past.

Whether this is a good thing or bad thing will really be up to the user. This was fairly inexpensive so I would recommend. It’s sturdy and I did not have any reason to believe it would get easily torn up.

Nice quality. I would love to see a larger size for those times when a mechanics creeper cannot be used (IE working on gravel or on the ground or where you just want to keep your clothes cleaner. So a 24″ x 48″ or similar size would be excellent, if it was ever offered.

Reduces the impact and aches of kneeling for long periods whilst doing stuff to your car. Should have bought some ages ago!

Bought this for when the wife or I are cleaning out the stove in a living-room/kitchen; a daily task in the winter. The mat is very sturdy, is very well finished, and is effective and comfortable in use when kneeling on it.

The size of this mat is convenient (for our specific purposes) regards storing when not in use.

Bought to replace my previous kneeler which had got covered in plaster. While this one is adequate for kneeling in one position it’s size doesn’t allow much ‘shuffle’ room and even a small movement puts you off the edge.

One advantage to its small size is that it fits in the tool bag!.

This is a great little tool. And it really is a tool. Just like the shovel, hedge clippers,sheers, loppers etc. , this is a tool. It is a necessary tool when working in the garden, and allows a person to get down close to the ground to do an array of gardening chores that otherwise could not be done as well or at all by someone with or without health issues.

And the design allows for just the right leverage to be able to push yourself back up and onto your feet with the greatest of ease. With this great little Yard Butler Garden Kneeler and Seat I can get up and down with not problems at all.

Clipping the lawn around my flower garden is no longer the chore it use to be. My back use to give me fits having to bend over for long periods of time to trim the roses. That is no more a problem. I simply turn the Yard Butler Garden Kneeler and Seat over and it is a marvelous little seat that is just the right height to do the job.

It is extremely well built and strong. And folds up in a snap for storage. Thank you Yard Butler.

After about a year the glue that held the foam pads to the bench dried out and the pads fell off. Reattached them with builders adhesive although it took a few tries because the foam didn’t adhere well.

Then after another few months of use as a kneeler the platform holding the pads broke away from the metal frame. It was a pine board held to the frame by a couple short screws at each end – screws directly into the end of the board with no support bracket.

Maybe sufficient for a 120 lb person but not strong enough for repeated use by a 200 pounder.

This is sold at a number of outlets and I’m glad Gempler’s included it in their catalog. I never bought one before, and after using one I should have gotten one a while ago. It works for things like putting air in your car tires (no more stooping and crushed stones pushing into your kneecap), to gardening, to hanging our under a tree in a place where you haven’t placed a chair.

Worth the investment–it’s frame and construction are heavy duty.

Purchased this pad for use while gardening. Previously, I tried knee pads, which were tight and made my knees sweaty, tried a cheap pad I purchased elsewhere which was slippery and hard to keep in place, then I purchased this.

It stays where you want it to, it’s large enough to allow you to move your legs around without leaving the pad, and it’s inexpensive (especially if you get it on sale, like I did!). I’d recommend.

The kneeling pad has exceeded my expectations. I’m around 240 pounds and when I kneel on it , It absorbs all of my weight and I don’t feel the harshness of the ground below it. I must say that no other pad has performed as well as this one.

I personally would recommend purchasing the larger sized pad that I did ( 15×20 inch ) for more room to move around on it.

Disappointed in the quality of kneeler pads, have dents and gashes all over one and on one side of the other. Glad I did not pay any more, not sure they will last one summer I really need so I will keep.

I am pretty sure at least one of kneelers was a return Wal-Mart let me down on this one!.

Since the growing season in my area is late this year, I have yet to use this cushion outdoors, but I was painting some baseboards inside my house and got the idea to use this cushion to sit and kneel on while I did so.

It worked beautifully for that purpose, and anticipate it will work just as well when I’m gardening. I found it easy to move with me as I moved, and the cushioning is thick and strong. Even when I put a knee to the pad, I never felt the full hardness of the floor beneath.

I think this is an excellent item that does exactly what it promises.

This is my 2nd garden pad, my dogs got hold of the first one and tried to tear it up but only succeeded in putting lots of holes in it. I actually got my second one to sit on while working from home as I have wood chairs and this is doing dual service.

It is very supportive without a hard uncomfortable backing but rather a sturdy backing and will last you a long time, it doesn’t wear out easily. I’ve had my first one for over a year now and it’s still going strong.

My dog recently had a health crisis, so I was in our vet clinic many times with her recently. Each time I took my dog in, I saw that the vet and the vet technician got on their knees on a hard floor to be at dog level.

I purchased four of these kneepads for my veterinarian’s office, one for each exam room. The veterinarians and the vet technicians love them for the immense relief they experience on their knees. These kneepads are incredibly well-made.

I ordered two knee pads for use around the house. Even though it had a tracking number I was never able to track product thru US Postal service. It did arrive well in advance of original delivery date.

But I still was unable to track. One of the two knee pads certainly were seconds. It was misshaped and looked like someone had melted the back of pad. Still usable (if I place the melted side down) but I would think if I bought a new pad then it should be perfect.

The quality of product is well below average. There appears to be no quality control inspection on this pad. So I will not be ordering in the future anything from this company. Don’t get back to me and say I should have contacted customer service, this knee pad should have never left their front door.

This is much thinner than most pads. It is 0.6 inch thick. Depending on use this may not be what some need. I used it for comfort pad while sitting outside, which filled my needs.

This pad will help save wear and tear on the knees . A must for gardening and a must for inside shores and projects . JImmy

This cushion is comfortable and works great when there is plenty of ventilation. Left in a closed, hot car, the smell is bad.

i sometimes get a bursitis attack on left knee when working on the car or motorcycles and my knees are on the ground. twisting, turning, etc. the previous pad i had was too small. this looks just the right size.

Does what is says in the description. No longer do I have to keep moving my old knee pad around while do something as simple as removing a wheel. The magnetic part holder is a nice touch.

Big guy 350lbs, being on knees on any hard surface hurts. So i bought this, works great. I just use for kneeling then pick it up amd put away. I imagone if you walk all over it with boots you would destroy it quick as it is kind of soft.

This kneeling pad is made of the best material for kneeling if you have bad knees or a knee replacement. I have purchased several different kneeling pads and many are incredibly hard or too thin to protect your knees.

I have two other kneeling pads similar to this one but only about one inch thick. The material used to make this kneeling pad is perfect. It is soft and resilient, and the two inches of material provides wonderful padding for my knee replacement.

It is a little expensive but I was able to purchase this with a 20 percent discount that I received from Gardeners Supply. So it was a little less painful for my wallet. But my knee doesn’t hurt at all! Absolutely worth the price.

The best kneeling pad available.

This kneeling pad is a really great product. I bought it to use in the garden, but I keep finding uses for in in the house as well. The foam is thick and dense and firm, not soft and squishy. The 2 ” thickness is quite comfortable with my feet hanging off the back while kneeling.

This will also work well for my husband and he weighs over 300 pounds, so he tends to “bottom out” on a lot of foam cushions.

My husband and I really like the thick cushioning of this pad and its great for chores inside the house that involve kneeling. However, the first time I used it in the garage (sitting on it while I assembled a workbench stool), I managed to get several small, shallow slices on the top side.

I don’t know if there was something sharp on my shoe that caught on the pad or if I accidentally swiped it with a tool, but this pad doesn’t have an outside plastic coating to protect it like some store-bought pads.

It’s soft and can easily tear or puncture. I have since wrapped it in two reusable grocery bags for use outside in the yard and it hasn’t ripped any further. Ideally, it should be provided with some kind of sleeve made from a tarp-like material that won’t readily puncture or tear.

My husband does a lot of jobs around the house. He is my handy man. He said these Hyper Tough kneepads really help keep his knees from taking a beating. My husband has arthritis in his knees from years of working on them.

He uses them when he works on his vehicles outside and he said the gravels in the drive way don’t bother his knees anymore. Very easy to get up and down in them because they don’t restrict movements.

This is a knee and back saver. I used this to when I painted my house on the inside. This helped my bad hip and back rest while I worked. Easier up and down plus padding is nice. Glad I got it. I plan on using it outside in the yard this year as well.

Its way better than I expected, really like it a lot, it sits taller than I thought which is a good thing! My neighbor sat in it and now he wants one!

Bought it because it was available straight away and a very good price. I have since bought another one that is easier on the knees. For the price it does the job, not necessarily the best job, or best quality, but does a good job if on a small budget.
