20 Best Knee Brace For Arthritis And Meniscus Tear (2023 Updated)

Trust me you WON’T regret with this brace. I have tried braces from $20-$300 for my torn ACL and they usually come short. They either don’t work or are very bulky but this brace just did it. I had a reconstructive surgery on my knee and I didn’t want a large knee brace since I move around all the time.

Glad I came across this brace because it works so well. It’s fully functional on my knee and it’s lightweight and I can adjust the hinges so easily. I wear it everyday and I would more than recommend it.

Having reinjured my knee before an upcoming wedding, I was looking for something that would give me support and that I could control range of motion. This seems well constructed. Unfortunately, what I found with this and other models, if a sturdy hinge is added to an elastic brace, the hinge cannot actually control range of motion as there is too much flex in the material.

So it didn’t work for me.

Been using the brace for a while and I love it. I have two for both knees since I suffer from arthritis pain and it gets worse when it’s cold and I’m outside as a construction worker. Another thing I love is that it’s low profile and lightweight and I can wear it all day without feeling like it’s those bulky knee braces on me.

I purchased this knee brace in a medium and measured the correct width of my knee, however the springs on the side were digging in my skin. I emailed customer service and they replied 4 hours later stating they would gladly replace at no fee the brace for a size large.

This brace is incredibly comfortable and holds my knee in place while playing pickleball! I highly recommend any brace from this company!.

I have varicose eczema which makes my legs so very itchy over last year I have tried so many creams and lotions and nothing has helped till I started using Eurex cream it really does stop the itch with a few minutes.

These are incredible! I’ve had several other elastic type knee braces, braces with cable side supports, and even have some that have a metal hinge. However, these are now my FAVORITE knee braces! Bar none! They are super supportive, are actually “cool” as they breathe well, and I’ve had them for a little over a week.

They fit so well *I’m average sized, but got large size given that the old ones I have were always restricting my blood and making me sweat. But these are very “breathable” and are relatively cool. In fact, I’ve forgotten to take them off twice in the last week given that they are so comfortable.

Another positive attribute is that they stay in place! In my over a week with them, I have NEVER had to pull them up! Not once! That alone makes these a great deal. I HIGHLY recommend.

I had something happen to my knee about a month ago – all of a sudden it just started hurting, sometimes to the point where I couldn’t even walk. I got this knee brace, wore it one day and Wow! absolutely no paid the next day.

Now I wear it to the gym and sometimes at work, but my overall comfort has improved 100% – I would definitely recommend this item. Just one small fly in the ointment – the sleeve has a nasty little sewn-on tag at the top that is really irritating! It digs into your skin and hurts.

I tried cutting it off, but the threads must be f some kind of super-power material, because it still irritates my skin. I’m thinking of putting a small piece of fabric over it and move on. This brace is too fantastic to let a tag bother me – but I still wish they would get smart like some other wholesalers and just print their logo instead of attaching a tag!.

I do not wear braces as a rule, but needed support for an injured knee. I searched the different types on line and came across model. I read quite a few reviews that were positive and purchased two pair to get free shipping.

I have used the braces for a week and they are very very good, and comfortable. Make the measurement around your knee with string loose and then see the chart for correct size. They are very good light support and I will be reordering.

I wore this brace for 2 weeks, and the condition of me knee drastically worsened! The knee opening is very uncomfortable and caused swelling and discoloration. There were short-lived moments of slight relief after continuously readjusting, but the swelling and discomfort always returned.

My condition improved within two days of switching to a different stabilizing knee sleeve with a covered/cushioned patella gel ring. That’s when I realized how severely the Neo-G brace was hindering my recovery! Bought after straining my knee again, it is sturdy and comfortable to wear, however the support comes from stainless steel springs sewn into the sides, and within a few days one of the springs had popped the seam at the bottom, poking into my leg.

I got a replacement, but within a week, this had also done the same.

I’m 68 with arthritis in my knees, and my physical therapist recommended these, and then showed me exactly how to position them when putting them on. Seems to help quite a bit for taking long walks. My only complaint is that you provide only sketchy instructions on how to use them for maximum benefit.

This review is for the Patella Strap Knee Brace. I LOVE this knee band!! Ive been using knee bands for over 10 years and I find this model far superior to all the previous knee bands Ive used. Heres why- This band is very comfortable and the design is great! Other bands I have, have a rubber portion to them which when it gets wet from sweat, the band slips around.

This band is surrounded by fabric so it is soft and does not slip around when sweaty. – It is quality made. – I just love the design. This band (in photo at the top) is great because it is really easy to get into place and tighten.

The other band shown in the picture (bottom of photo with my hand on it), is one of my previous bands and is hard to get the right tension. Also, other bands Ive used, because they Velcro is behind my knee, when it gets sweaty and due to all the movement, the two flaps dont stay aligned.

The one with the rough Velcro facing my leg slips out and rubs against the back of my knee which is very uncomfortable. Because the design on this one is different, I dont have that issue at all. The only concern I have with this band is how well it holds up through the washer.

It will need to be washed after time due to use and sweat. Crossing my fingers washes well. Overall I find this band to be far superior to other knee bands Ive used, and I highly recommend it. I know Ill be getting more.

UPDATE: I contacted the seller and they recommended hand wash only.

For months I had pain in my right knee that meant that I had to ascend/descend stairs one step at a time. Knees are in fine shape for a 78 year old. Ortho concluded after Xray/Mri that I had some arthritis in the knee and I should stay on a NSAID regime when pain increased.

I could also opt for cortisone shot(s) in the knee. Son, former volleyball player suggested trying a patella strap. Conferred with Ortho who agreed it should be an option. I asked for a recommendation and he replied, “pick one”.

Went on line and saw your strap in the top five reviews. I now have one and after 3 days of wear I cannot say enough about your product. I now have to learn how to ascend/descend stairs again since there is no pain.

I am not taking any NSAID’s either.

Don’t let the pictures to the item deceive you. You will notice that the knee brace seems to have two different styles of stick on tabs. This is because there is the old style (which can’t be bought anymore) and the newer style.

The old style was stronger, more durable, and wore better if you’re a person that still uses your knees a lot. The newer style the stick down tabs are smaller, there is less protective material to the entire brace, it wears out quicker and doesn’t provide the knee with the same amount of protection.

As a knee brace it still works, but it’s like switching a nickel for a dime then pretending that it is the same thing. I was loyal to the old design model, and have bought dozens of them over the years, now (2020) the newer model has taken over and purchasing it is only a maybe for me.

Would likely be fine if you just need a knee brace for a small number of days.

This spring my 13yr old niece blew her knee out and was in terrible pain for months. Her doctor put her in a brace that went from her mid thigh to her foot that she wore for months. Although it has healed correctly according to the doctors she still has issues with it getting “fatigued” faster than her other knee.

My personal trainer gave me a knee compression sleave with the open knee area to support my injured knee. I was to replace it but I could not find the exact item. After looking at MANY knee support items, I found this one.

The price was right, and, it had a sleeve as well as velcro adjustments AND an open patella I believe it is called, AND side supports, which is I needed. I gave it a try and was very pleased with it.

So I ordered a 2nd to give to my trainer. I loved that it did have sleeve, and that it wasn’t thick which the one I had caused discomfort behind the knee after wearing throughout the day. I loved that I could adjust the tension or the amount of compression using the velcro adjustments, which allowed me to avoid the area behind the knee bend.

Definitely worth every penny!!.

Tore my acl in July 2017. Been trying to recover ever since. Put this on and right away helped with the pain. Wish I could wear it all day but not supposed to. Quality is real good. I’m 5’10” 160 and the large fit perfectly.

I injured my knee and wear a knee brace most of the time. It is nice to have the Riptide to wear in the evening and get very good support. I do recommend this product to everyone.

Feedback from the patient. The best knee brace he has used so far. The breathable material is soft and works in with his skin, giving support and comfort without overheating, becoming itchy etc. The reinforced sides at the knee are also great as they give support and a feeling of confidence when moving, walking and even sitting/driving Still needs to have a good work out in it and I will get more feedback at the next appointment.

I would like to add photos or videos but it is difficult without permission from the patient. He may agree at next appt and then we can upload something. But so far. very happy with everything.

The knee support is kind of doing the job and holding everything together while I strengthen my upper leg muscles again. It’s hard to pull on, though, and get that little knee cap donut in the right place.

AND taking it off is impossible after a workout when I’m sweaty. They ONLY way to do it is pull it inside out, which it tells you not to do. I have high riding knee caps and so I have to pull it up extra high and so I have muffin tops which are quite embarrassing.

When they are particularly bad I wear a running skort to cover them (especially after a friend made quite an unkind comment). It’s early days to know if this is going to do the job. I did use the online sizing guide and app but I think it may have pointed me to a size too small.

But they are so expensive, the thought of buying 2 more in the next size up does not thrill me.

Purchased to use for Taekwondo training. I have been using Elastoplast for the past 5 years due to them being more economical which did the job more or less but after using Bauerfeind I would never use anything else again.

Very happy, I had a niggling knee issue that has been there for a year now and I’ve always aggravated it more by training. After using the Bauerfeind knee brace I have found that my knee has actually healed whilst training and I am getting less and less pain from it.

Should have bit the bullet a lot sooner in hindsight.

I ordered the Knee Support to help me to continue playing tennis. My Doctor had indicated that I would no longer be able to play tennis after he had examined the X-ray that was taken. After 9 months rest I borrowed a Bauerfeind Knee Support from a neighbour which I found gave me adequate support and confidence to pick up my tennis racquet again.

Unfortunately my neighbour wanted to keep ownership of the support so I managed to track down where to purchase a similar one. The support package arrived this week which was 10 days ahead of the indicitive time it would take to arrive from Australia.

This was marvellous service by the company and the Courier firm that they used. Have tried out the new Knee Support on the tennis courts today and am thoroughly delighted with it.

I am an 85 year old retired educator. In the last two years I have had more and more pain in my knees. It got almost so bad that I had to have something to hang on to to be able to go from sitting to standing.

This was my second order for these knee support sleeves. With these sleeves on, I can go from sitting to standing without having to have something to hang on to. I can walk around the block with just a cane.

I don’t need the “walker” I have been using.

I was not able to use the knee sleeves as the item runs small. I did measure the calf and thigh area but the size that was to fit, sadly did not. I’m sure this is a fine product but the seemingly correct size was too small for my use.

Have worn it every day. Is very helpful in keeping my knee from getting extremely sore

I had to return the brace. It was great quality for the price but my legs are so short it just didn’t fit the way it was supposed to. However their customer service department was absolutely amazing, how I wish every store could take lessons from this company.

They tell you no hassle return blah blah and then you have to go through a big ordeal. NOT with this company. They help me with the problems I had, walked me through the shipping label and return process.

Apologize that it didn’t fit right like it was their fault which it was not. I ordered a different brace shorter in length and I’m waiting on it now. I will not buy another brace from any other company and I highly recommend if you need one get it from here.

I’m 32 yrs old and I have a knee of a 60 yr old. My cartilage on the right side of my knee is completely gone and have developed arthritis because of it. I’ve been looking for the right brace for the job so I can get back to my workouts.

I came across this site and brace, and man this is the one if you have the same/similar problem as I do. I can jog comfortably again! The hinges feel like my new cartilage. They feel like they absorb the impact as I jog and do weightlifting.

There are pins in the that little plastic compartment that really help especially with the stretches. Very simple to adjust and understand. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to get back to being active with a messed up knee.

Best thing about this brace is it ‘s made in USA. It does seem to offer good support. Just got a shot from the doctor prior to receiving your brace so pain has been minimal lately. Just got back from vacation.

It did help with mountain hiking. I don’t really like the slip through calf part. Seems a little snug but I guess it’s supposed to be. The behind the knee thigh Velcro fastener is a little awkward. I would prefer front knee fastening.

All in all I’m satisfied with the support it offers and the main thing is. MADE IN AMERICA.

IšverstiShow in original languageI recently developed some (relatively minor) knee issues, inflammation, soreness, etc. Being in my late 40s and having beat up my knees over the decades with ice hockey and skateboarding, they’ve finally gotten angry.

I tried a variety of compression sleeves for activities and recovery. Most of them are either too loose, uncomfortable or more importantly, slip constantly. The Old Bones sleeves are awesome! They have an excellent amount of compression and stay put while playing hockey (as a goalie) and at the gym, hikes, etc.

I ordered both L and M to test out the level of compression. I’m exchanging the L for more Ms and the process couldn’t have been easier. I would highly recommend these to anyone needing compression gear.

I’ll definitely be purchasing more products from OBT.

IšverstiShow in original languageBefore I write a review I wanted to address my issues here. After cutting the package and the plastic T tie there was still fabric missing from the center. It looks like it was snagged when assembled.

Also I may have been mistaken and needed the hinged braces since the pull over sleeves do not provide my arthritic knees any support. The donut center moves below my knee cap and does not provide the constant compression support my knees require when ridding or jogging.

I have a $10 pair of slip on knee supports that provide more compression than these. I do admit they do not slide down my leg and that is a plus! I hate to leave bad reviews and was hoping these were as good as advertised and reviewed but I guess to each their own and these did not provide the relief I was hoping for.

IšverstiShow in original languageThese sleeves/braces are amazing. I’ve been wearing one on my right knee for just about 2 weeks now, not just skating, but always. I landed funny and tweaked my knee pretty bad about a month ago.

Yesterday I walked around without it and my knee feels great, I’ll be wearing one on both knees while skating from now on. They stay put, add a ton of support, are extremely comfortable, and the padding around the kneecap is a much appreciated added touch.

My next purchase will be the ankle sleeves. Old Bones has what it takes to keep my 48 year old bones rolling and I’m all about it. These aren’t your everyday braces, definitely designed for those of us who put a beating on our bodies!.

Durch die Bandage bin ich im Alltag wieder sicher! Sie gleicht die Instabilität voll aus und ich fühle mich langsam auch ohne Bandage wieder sicherer. Trotzdem trage ich sie vorerst weiter, um erneutem “Wegrutschen” des Knies vorzubeugen.

Der Tragekomfort ist gut, man vergisst, dass man sie trägt. Allerdings passt sie nicht unter enge Hosen, da sie sehr massiv ist. Von mir trotzdem ganz klar 5 Sterne!.

IšverstiShow in original languageRecently purchased a Genutrain S Pro knee support, and I am amazed at how well it supports my knee and has all but eliminated my knee pain that is at the point of needing surgery due to a spinal injury in 2008.

Unfortunately after my injury I was left with an odd walking gait that has caused my left leg to receive more impact during walking. After a recent bone scan my left knee is showing up as a very bright spot that gives an indication of severe inflammation and damage in the bones of the knee.

I have tried many cheaper knee braces with little to no relief, so I decided to bite the bullet and buy a top quality knee support. After much research there was a clear winner for my situation. The Genutrain S Pro Hinged Support covered everything that I needed, and with this brace being good for post operation I will not have to purchase another brace after surgery.

I couldn’t give this brace anymore praise and would recommend it to anyone that is suffering from bone degradation in there knee. 5 big stars from me.

I have been suffering with knee pain for many years. I have tried so many braces, some are to tight stopping my circulation, uncomfortable. This is so inexpensive I didn’t think it would work. I was surprised! You get 2 of them.

The first one was to big that I order, I contacted the seller. he sent me a smaller size even though I was the one that made the error. I have been wearing them and if feels so weird not to feel the pain I was feeling.

Every time I get up from a chair I prepare to feel the pain like usual but now. I can just get up. thank you thank you thank you. I highly recommend this product as well as the seller <3.

I like the fit and support of this knee sleeve. Make sure you buy it big enough to not constrict your leg too much. This is not a problem with this sleeve. It’s just what you have to think of when buying any sleeve.

This is a solid piece of equipment. I certainly feel safe walking around with it on. I’ve walked about 6km in it at this point and my only point for potential buyers is that the cross-over straps at the back of the knee do pinch if you have the knee bent for too long.

I have a manual car and drove to work in it after sitting with my knee bent watching tv and I felt it pinch a bit when changing gears. It’s not a big thing as it’s fine walking – but it’s the only negative I can think of.

I had to return the first one I got as it was a size too large and it was a very easy and painless process. My knee measurement fell in both the XXL and the XL so I took their advice and sized up when the smaller worked out better for me.

The packaging is very honest about it not being overyly comfortable, but very supportive. I just bought it for snowboarding for a bit of extra support on a weak knee. Has good movement (maybe 3-5 deg short of full bend), and probably more support than I expected, which is good.

But yes, it’s not something you would forget is there, doesn’t hurt, but defiantly not comfortable, which is fine, as advertised. Sizing i feel right in between medium and large on measurements, and i went medium which was too small, but exchanged no problem.

and large is good size for wearing on skin or over thermals.

I like it. Fits my knee nicely and is relatively comfortable. I wear the knee brace regularly every day under my work pants and it works fine. Keep in mind it is not the smallest knee brace and some of my work pants are not suitable for it to be worn underneath.

The brace does what it is supposed to do. It supports the patella and the bilateral hinges stop the hyperextension action from happening. Overall, it does a great job.

IšverstiShow in original languageI like this support for stability and comfort, but since I also have swelling in the knee, the opening at the patella causes the swelling to settle in that area while I’m wearing it.

I probably should have opted for the Ultra Performance Knee Stabilizer that also compresses the patella. I ordered size medium according to the measurements given, and it fits perfectly without sliding down.

I am 5’3″. It dries quickly after washing.

Excellent support for my knee. Had one just like it for years and was time for a new one. Only recommendation is that I had a large before. When I measured according to your size chart it said medium.

So if measurement is close to max on on the chart Id recommend the next size up.

I wear one on each knee, when working & it saves me everyday. Not too tight, does NOT slide down. It stays in place for my 10-12 hour shift. I drive a truck. use the clutch often in city driving. I climb up & down on top of a tanker truck & the support is out of this world.

VERY comfortable, true to size, keeps it’s shape & elasticity. When putting on & taking off, slide it up & down(do not roll it inside out) & it will last forever. I DO NOT machine wash because I do not want to compromise the integrity of the brace.

Hand wash, squeeze it out & hang to dry. Worth the price 100%.

This FUTURO Active Knit Knee Stabilizer is FANTASTIC!! I’m a 60+ year old avid pickleball player with 1 total knee replacement and 1 waiting for a replacement. I’ve tried many different knee braces to stabilize my remaining knee AND to keep me “in the game” playing sports.

When the gyms closed in spring of 2020, I had to switch to outdoor (pavement) running. My right knee was not happy about the transition. I bought one of these in April of 2020 and it was tremendously effective, and I have been able to get in 5-6 mile runs 4 or 5 days of the week since then.

No more knee pain whatsoever! I had to ding it a star for falling apart starting in July of 2021. I was very careful with it, only ever handwashed it. But I guess these things only really last about 15 months.

A manager at the Arcadia REI recommended this for my left knee which I injured descending Mount Wilson. Not bragging. It took me 45 minutes longer than my fellow Sierra Club Wilderness Training Course participants so the sun went down by the time I was descending and hence my knee injury.

I used it at North Rim Grand Canyon and for my daily workouts and thank the Lord it has prevented further damage to my left knee.

This item was great. Have been feeling a lot of knee pain, almost as if it is about to give out and wants to hyperextend. With this brace it felt completely secure and there was no pain after my hikes.

Only negative is that the back of my leg/knee got a bit irritated from the sweat—nothing serious though. Overall, saved me from tons of pain and has secured my knee.

I get this knee brace because I was having more knee pain at work and play. First off, the size chart is off. I measured myself and should have fit a medium, but that was way too small. It wouldn’t even comfortably slide up over my calf, and my calves aren’t that huge.

Once I got a large, I started being fairly happy with it. I have less knee pain when i remember to wear it regularly during work, biking, runs. You have to wash it every so often to stop it from sliding down and bunching while wearing, as it seems to stretch out just the tiniest bit and the grippy beads pick up skin cells or something.

Onceclean, it stays in place pretty well. You’d probably wash it regularly anyway if you are sweating while wearing it since it is synthetic. Makes me feel secure and have less pain after a long day of chainsawing or biking.

I’ve been using these for 2 years, trekking through Ecuador, skiing different hemispheres, and trail running. They are a pain in the ***. But they help. I got them for knee pain and they do help when they stay up, but I need to pull them up constantly.

I tried shaving my legs to see if that would help them stay up, no luck. I just pull them up all the time.

Support was ideal for a hike. However, with each bend of knee up a mountain the back of the knee became more and more irritated. Unfortunate because otherwise great overall knee support going downhill.

I ordered a knee brace for myself and I like it. I also ordered a knee brace for my husband weeks ago. When I attempt to see the shipping status by logging into my account the status states “processing” and hasn’t changed.

I have sent multiple emails to customer service to no avail. I have also attempted to call customer service. The customer service is horrible which is why I won’t order from here again. Make sure your order is exactly what you want because you will not hear back from customer service regardless of how you try to contact them.

I purchased this for my 14 yr old daughter who has had pain from Osgood Schlatter’s for the last two ski seasons. We tried Ace bandages, ibuproffen and ice but she suffered pain that was really preventing her from enjoying more than a couple of runs per day.

I am pleased to say from the first day with this brace she was able to ski pain free. And as a parent I am thrilled to be able to enjoy skiing again. I highly recommend this brace.

Excellent support with super light weight. The only drawback is on the brace itself the silicone material buckles upwardcreating a small gap. Wearing this post miniscus operation.
