20 Best Kitchen Flooring For Dogs (2023 Updated)

I was looking for some padding to go over cement floors in our home gym to help absorb some impact from my workouts. After reading reviews I decided I would try these. Overall, they work well and do their job.

The cushion is perfect, just enough to absorb the impact and not get in the way. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it does move slightly during some (not all) moves. I was hoping it would be heavy enough to stay without needing adhesive.

I think it will work, I will just be fixing it after use. In all, I’m happy with them and for the price it makes for a good value.

3/8 thickness is perfect. We have a bumpy wood flooring in our barn that we are converting to home gym. When rolled out, this easily hid the imperfections. Rolls out well and lays flat pretty instantly.

No funky odor to either. Pretty heavy, didn’t slide around at all. The company called and notified they didn’t have enough of our color and they were very accommodating to find us another color. 100% would order again.

Very low odor but hard to clean. Dust gets stuck in the crevices of the rubber. Vaccuum and mopping does the trick but some particles are left behind that you can see stuck in the rubber. Otherwise love these for the gym.

These are very pretty. They do mot lay perfectly. And a few in the box are damaged. Hence no five stars. But I am happy with them. Transformed the kitchen.

I am very pleased with the look of the tiles. I hVs yet to actually put the tile down. I purchased these for my living room area. Once my project is completed, I will indicate whether the tile adhesive stuck with ease or not along with photos.

Delivery was quick and the tiles look as pictured.

Our first DIY – click n lock vinyl plank floor. We watched a ton of You-Tube videos on how to complete the job. Much easier than anticipated. We over bought tools (table saw, jig saws etc). Flooring delivered in great condition – no torn boxes or broken planks inside.

Instillation went without a hitch and the floor is absolutely stunning.

The flooring is great if you can get enough unbroken pieces to get it installed. It looks wonderful. Unfortunately, we had two full boxes arrive partially open and broken and can’t get a response from Houzz.

I had to order two more bc we this is when he’s here to do the work. I can’t wait Mo TJ’s for someone to talk to me about a return. My window will have closed with no pts so we so that’s cool.

We got the Continental Carbon Oak and it is gorgeous. I love that it is very matte, with very little sheen if any. The quality is very good and it was very easy to install directly over an entire home full of tile floors.

Our house looks brand new!.

I’d pick 5 stars and say the color was what I expected on all of the samples. We really like the samples. It helps a lot to have larger pieces to consider structure and color – we looked at 5 colors and both sizes – I’ll address all of them.

The structure is more substantial than many we’ve looked at. The embossing matching the grain is very well done and looks realistic from many angles and in various lighting. We originally thought we might prefer Arbor but we’ve lightened up this house after moving in about 2 years ago.

My husband liked the color of Arbor but really didn’t like the high contrast of the darker floor. We also had a sample of Madiera which looks nice but was even darker. He doesn’t often have strong opinions on such things so when he does it carries some weight.

After looking at pictures of other installations and moving the samples all over our house to check with lighting, existing fixed decor and specific furniture pieces we settled on Sutton. We were both surprised how much we liked the two gray tones (Ashford and Arlo) and how good they looked in our house.

In the end, I preferred the warmer tones of Sutton and how well it worked with some of the other materials I like. We’ve enjoyed both light and dark floors in the past so it was a toss up going in. We are still working on plans for finishing our basement.

We may choose Arbor down there since the current plan is to have that part of the house use darker colors and be more of a man cave. We got samples in Arbor of both the signature and base sizes. We’re considering using the larger planks on our fairly open main floor and the base planks upstairs where there are bedrooms and more distinct spaces.

I was originally thinking of it more so that the scale worked better upstairs and reduced overall cost a bit. We found the difference in thickness could really work to our advantage. On the main floor we have heavier trimwork and more of a variety of flooring to remove so trim adjustments, leveling subfloor etc are expected and thicker planks help.

Upstairs we have a catwalk that is open on both sides. That one area makes any flooring that needs expansion a bit tricky (its carpet right now). The slightly thinner base planks will fit in the existing gap so that the floor level trim that connects to moldings on the outsides won’t have to be adjusted.

Not sure if that makes sense but it solved a weird issue we had run into. Still unsure which size might suit our eventual basement layout. Our reasons for considering LVP: We have big dogs, cats and kids.

Our existing hardwood gets a workout and the color isn’t really a favorite. We initially considered wood-look tile and hardwood (reg and engineered) but both have drawbacks. We didn’t want site-finishing – we moved out to do that before and it was a real pain.

It would be more difficult now. We also wanted to be able to work area by area so we could relocate furniture as we go. Since we’re planning to do the whole house, even closets, that’s an issue, it won’t all fit in the garage at one time to have a crew come in and just having people in these days is tricky.

We had various samples of prefinished wood floors and my husband absentmindedly used one as a coaster. After 1/2 hour the finish was ruined. So we checked a bunch of others. Even some really pricey floors didn’t perform well or they scratched really easily.

The ones that passed the coaster test weren’t really our favorites because their finish left them looking sort of fake. That led us to start over and consider more options. I didn’t want to transition to tile in the kitchen because of where the transition would be.

He wanted something more durable in the kitchen. We were at a bit of a stalemate. We had never liked laminate but we had put in a fairly inexpensive wood look vinyl plank in a windowless basement about 7 years back.

It was a good choice for the space, looked really good, performed pretty well and was surprisingly warmer underfoot than the carpet that had been there before. With all the advances in the past few years we though the newer LVP might be an option for the main living spaces.

That may be more than you requested as far as a review of color and features but those concerns are some of the factors that even led us to consider LVP. The base plank is a good size with really good features compared to others and was the initial size we were looking at overall in most types of flooring.

The larger plank sizes and thicker wear layer are compelling features for the signature planks. Having the option of the matching larger plank in the more open, heavier traffic, presents a really good option to fit the various spaces we have and still have it all work together nicely.

Ordered 2 samples each of Craftsman Nakan and Soho. I was able to see how great a product it is and which one would be better in our home. We love the narrow planks as they fit in better with our other original flooring.

They have a different sheen than the wood floors but they’re separated visually by a kitchen and dining area so we feel it will be a great choice. Loved the “try this flooring in your own room” online feature as that helped us confirm which one would look best.

Sample arrived well packaged and looking very professional. Loved the lighter color options overall. The wear layer was very thick compared to other options we considered and definitely seemed more durable.

We have four boys. It’ll have to be able to take a beating! We plan to place an order soon.

This is okay for the price. It is a little rough on the feet and the seams are not really tight but it looks okay. I use it in an area of a garage converted to a pantry and it works fine there. It makes a lot of mess when cut.

I would suggest it for a utilitarian space you want to spruce up a bit but not a high quality redo.

Love this flooring. I got a number of samples in and went with this one. It was a great choice especially for the price. It was easy to install, and is really soft to walk on (especially in comparison to the concrete that is underneath).

Gorgeous LVP. Have it in my laundry area and looks so natural and great. Only issue is one box came damaged, but overall, love this product so much. I have slate in other parts of house and this looks the same.

This has been perfect with all my grandkids in the house. I never have to worry about stains or dirt. It is durable and looks good. I have had several people ask who did my carpet.

These were thinner than I expected, however that made them very easy to work with. They were easy to lay, easy to cut, and the finished job looked as desired. I’d use them again.

This is the best glamping item I never want to camp without. Camping in the cold or uneven ground with rocks and tree roots is extremely uncomfortable. This flooring is very dense and provides great insulation from the cold ground.

It provides a stable base for your sleeping pads, bags, and/or mattresses. It’s helps prevent your gear from damaging the tent floor. Some campers use different brands of foam tiles that haven’t held up nearly as well.

These tiles have taken me through the 2021 camping season and you can’t tell they’ve been used at all.

We put this down over a large area in our basement to have a workout space. We loved it so much that we purchased more to make a play space for our daughter. Super easy to lay down, very sturdy and does not easily break, also very very easy to clean.

We have set multiples of these together on our cellar floor. They cushion the hard floor for the baby. It keeps him safer. We have also used some on the deck for our blow up pool. Love the versatility.

Oh my gosh what can I say but this flooring is BEAUTIFUL. It is so easy to install. I put it in my popup camper and it made all the difference in the world. The planks are different sizes in length which makes the flooring look so good.

It is thick and WATERPROOF. I wish I had taken a pic of the flooring before I closed my camper. I will update this review to show just how pretty it is. I don’t even think the pics would do it justice.

To get it right, be sure to take your time! It’s easy, but can be made more difficult if you don’t pay attention. I watched a few YouTube videos to help me get going and that was a great help. Be sure the floor is level! You can add a thin pad if wanted/needed first, then set your first row.

You’ll place next row inches away, to keep grooves away from each other, then use a soft touch with hammer or mallet to click them together tight. This flooring is “WetProtect” and can be put in an entryway, a laundry room, or bathroom.

If you’ve never done flooring before, like many or most of us, pick a space where you won’t have to worry about cutting curves around pipes or having gaps where you cannot make it fit tight and right because there is no room for your hands/arms to work a tool.

All in all, this experience was not what I’d call fun, but challenging fun. Not relaxing like a puzzle might be, but very gratifying. This laminate is so beautiful and of great quality. The installation was very easy and DIY friendly. The fact that it has a built in underlayment, waterproof, and clicks right in place are all added bonuses of this laminate.

I have received many great compliments about the laminates realistic wood grains and designs. I have also recommended this laminate to family and friends.

I was really amazed on how easy this flooring as to install. The planks fit together perfectly. It added a nice touch to my spare bedroom. It feels good on your feet when you walk on it. Not too hard.

The color in all boxes matched great. I will be updating another room now that I know how fast it is to install. I recommend this for people with all levels of DIY.

My wife and I installed this Life Proof Dusk Cherry flooring as our first DIY flooring project. It went in so well, and looks so great, that my wife is now looking at where else we might install it. That is always a good sign! Details: 7 planks per package.

Mixture of four design “pictures” that go in both directions, so eight variations overall. Texture on plank surface matches with the grain of the plank designs making the look and feel very realistic.

Instructions say to ensure that all packages are from one run number (shown on box) and during installation to mix planks from different boxes. We designed our layout on paper, arranged and labelled the planks by design and then began installation (on a clean and relatively smooth OSB base floor).

Scribe and turn plank over and bend plank backwards to snap/cut worked great. Some planks required a little filing of the solid core cut edge after snapping. We used a workbench vice to support plank cuts along the long side and for short cuts.

We used a hand saw/coping saw for some complex cuts (better than the vibrations of a jigsaw). Purchased a Roberts Pro Flooring Installation Kit at HD (see separate review) to assist in installation. If you ever find you need to remove the last row you installed, even after locking, you can carefully lift the open edge of the planks along the whole row and then lift out the entire row.

You can then slide individual plank pieces out along the short side. We originally thought we would have preferred planks with micro-bevels, but these look great as you can still distinguish the variations between the plank designs.

The planks are amazingly precisely cut and there are virtually no gaps between planks along the long or short edges. Watch the online videos for some good insights before tackling your first flooring project.

I love this product! The Installer (arrangements made by Home Depot) was fantastic. I had all carpets removed and replaced with vinyl plank. Depending on the height of the baseboards with the previous carpet, you might have to purchase new, higher, baseboards.

I expected this to happen and it did.

The picture online for this product was deceiving. Did not like it at all, the colors were completely different that what it shows online. I had to return the products, but they only took 3 boxes because the 4th one we had to try to see how it will look.

Now I am stuck with 1 box at home. The product is completely over priced. I do not recommend it at all. More pictures showed be posted to show the exact color and design. By the way the picture posted beside the rating request is not the correct one.

I love love this flooring. I was debating between this one and seaboard oak, super happy that I ended up picking Mesquite. They are both beautiful with very different styles. Mesquite definitely brings a more classy and antique vibe to the house.

Since my house is mainly white with some dark wooden features, mesquite fits perfectly here. Great color contrast with matching details, I love it eveyday. The delivery was bad tho. The scheduling and receiving experience was a disaster.

The delivery company didn’t show up the first time, then missed 2 more appointments, cause me $700 paying to the contractors for their waiting. Calibamboo customer service was on time and refunded me $150 for the hassle but it still costed me $550 extra for nothing.

I’m requesting refund from the delivery company directly and the claim has been sitting there for 2 months without any updates. Highly recommend CALI bamboo to change a delivery partner. The flooring is absolutely gorgeous.

After installing the PRO Mesquite flooring in our new 24′ X 24′ addition several years ago we decided to install it in our entire house this year. After ordering what I thought was the same product I found that Cali had a new improved version.

Unfortunately it did not interface with the original installation. Cali Customer Service was very understanding and replaced the old with new in a mutually satisfactory manner. This was a welcome relief.

The new flooring has gotten rave comments from everyone that has seen our new remodel work. Our next door neighbor just had Cali flooring installed, also.

We own a second home that had linoleum on the kitchen, mud room, bathrooms and closet floors. Wife hated the linoleum and wanted to cover it with a quality, durable product. We shopped at local flooring shops and decided that vinyl plank flooring seemed to be the best choice for what we were trying to accomplish.

I am handy, have lots of tools and decided I wanted to lay the flooring rather than hire a flooring installer. On-line searches about vinyl planking led me to discover Cali Bamboo and I gave them a call.

The Cali Bamboo Representative was very informative, not pushy and agreed to send me a sample of every model of vinyl planking they offer. A few days later a fairly large box of vinyl plank samples showed up and rather than just one small sample of planking per model there were several planks of each model.

Wife and I did not initially agree on a selection but I finally agreed with her choice and ordered Mesquite. I purchased enough planking to allow for up to 10% loss due to damage and waste. When the job was completed I had maybe 3 or 4% loss – tops! Those of you are thinking about buying and installing vinyl planking yourself – I used the following tools: 1.

High Quality Knee Pads 2. Razor knife and a box of spare razor blades 3. Made a simple jig from lumber to allow me to make straight scores across planks to produce desired lengths. Once you produce a score across the plank you can bend it and it produces a straight cut.

4. Jig saw with down cutting blades to cut angles, holes, etc. 5. Black and Decker Workmate Bench outside (you do not want to use a saw indoors as it will produce a fine white dust). 6. Circular saw to make straight cuts (fine tooth blade that you will throw away at end of job).

You may be able to score and break the long straight cuts but I did not try it. 7. Carpenter Pencil 8. Long straight edge 9. You will need to purchase small wedges, a planking flooring tool and I used a rubber headed mallet.

I love this flooring! I had my whole bathroom redone last summer (6 months ago) and chose this flooring. It is perfect, and it feels so good under my feet. The only reason I took 1 star off is that the colour is more of a grey with beige undertones as opposed to a grey with a white undertone as it appears on screen to me but that may just be a matter of my computer screen.

Love it! You can tell it’s great quality, it clicks together nicely and properly. It looks great too and was relatively easy to install. It’s also dog proof and waterproof which is essential at my house.

I will likely be buying this product again for the cottage. I like it that much.

The application installation video is great for a rectangular room where the flooring is at 90 degrees to the walls. If the ends of the planks are not 90 degrees to length of the plank, it made pulling the plank lengthwise to snap the ends together impossible.

Damaged a lot of material trying to make it work. After a lot of experimenting I found other methods to install the planks that worked for my application. Additional information on how to install the material in non standard (square) applications would have been helpful.

After I learned different ways to install the material, the job came out nice. If this is your first time installing this particular material’s locking system and any of the end cuts will be on an angle other than 90 degrees, practice or start in an obscure area until you learn an installation method that works for you.

I will hold the final opinion of this produce until after observing how it reacts to the first summer of use.

My husband and I have add a new kitchen addition to our home, we decided on Cali’s South Seas Oak Vinyl flooring because the color was perfect for our room and the quality seemed to be one of the top click vinyl flooring we looked at.

Pros of this floor- looks nice, feels nice, easy to clean, and water-resistant. Cons: Installation really was a pain, we are not new to installing laminate floors, we have done 3 other rooms in our house with other products and by far this product was the worst one to install, although the vinyl planks look nice when down, they do not click together easily and we found the “track” broke easily some were snapped in the box when we pulled them out.

we felt that the boards only had about 5/6 repeating patterns and our floor was huge, Really would have liked a little more variety in the patterns with less of the ugly knot pattern they don’t seem to show you in their pictures.

The transition pieces we received had to be glued in place since the throat of the piece was too short to reach into the track For the $$ we felt this floor could have had a little better quality but it is down and done, some pieces had to be glued together because they separated as we added new rows, maybe our floor was just too big for this type of flooring.

All in all, it looks great, but we shall see how it holds up through the coming years.

Had this floor installed in Family Room to replace Stainmaster Carpeting from Lowes. Wanted dog proof flooring. So far, this Timbercraft has stood up to many things (dog related). The only disappointed is the Valley Grove looks nothing like the samples shown on the wall at Lowes.

Much darker and covered everywhere with dark brown knots and spots. Want to refloor rest of house but don’t want to choose same color. Don’t know which color comes without all those dark spots, if ahy, and now will not match family room.

I’m well into it now, so it’s going in our whole house, we’re selling turns out anyways. The step block for knocking chips up the edges if pieces are tough to get tongue and grooved smoothly, I’ve got a bit of curled edge some I got irritated and just decided to burn the piece and use what I could as an end piece on other side of room, and what’s underneath its top layer, recycled compressed cardboard? It’s so expensive but I feel it’s very cheap.

I’m a union new construction plumber. I’m no carpenter but when people come over they ask what carpenter did our install. makes me feel good, direct impact? It’s more durable than I expected. I’m about to do our stairs next 14 stairs 1200$.

I have put in 3 other laminate floors through out the years, this is the hardest to put together by far! It doesn’t want to lock and snap together. It physically takes lots of strength to get it together.

Once you got it together it wouldn’t stay locked in place. It’s a beautiful floor by far though! What should have taken one day to install in the past has taken 8 days! I bought this because of the wet protect and I am not sure how well that will work when some of it won’t stay clicked together.

This is a beautiful color, it just needs to be made easier to install. At first I thought it was just us so I hired more help and that felt the same as me. It won’t click and lock well.

I had used another brand in my upstairs bathroom as a first time installer. Then I bought this on recommendation and due to the warranty. I needed something to handle everyday all day traffic in the main portion of my house.

I was pleasantly shocked how much easier it was to install than the other brand. It does install in a “non-traditional” way. “Typically” you start in the closes left corner working to the farthest right corner.

This floor start in the closes right corner, working to the farthest left. My house is very open and “cut-up” so I had to work from the center out, and this florring mad it very easy.

Beautiful flooring!! I never thought that Vinyl plank would look so real! The textures and colors are hard to distinguish against real wood. The fact that they are 100% waterproof was our selling point.

Most people think it’s hardwood and can’t believe the durability, reasonable price and easy installation of these beautiful floors. By the way, I’m a 72 year old widow who did a lot of the work myself.

I had this installed after installing Pergo in another room and was very happy with the first result. Didn’t realize until too late that the vertical seam lines on this particular piece are very apparent.

In fact there appears to be a black line at each seam. Oh well, it is in now and not much I can do about it. I will be much more careful if I choose Pergo again. Would advise purchasing at least two pieces to get and idea of how it is going to look and not just going by the sample.
