20 Best Kibble For Picky Dogs (2023 Updated)

My household has been vegan for 15 years, but I am cautious to feed my companion animals what works best for them—even if it’s not a vegan option. Ethics aren’t always black-and-white in practical application.

We’re all just doing our best, ya know? We have a rescued French bulldog, who has allergies and a very sensitive GI tract. It took about 2 days to adjust to V-dog mixed with whatever cheap food was provided by the shelter, and we’ve never looked back.

Margot’s fur has grown in better, her tummy doesn’t grumble, and her poop is solid every day. The amount of fiber in this food actually adds quite a bit of bulk to her poop (not alarmingly so), which aids in expressing her anal sacs.

This is a common issue for small breeds like Frenchies, pugs, or Boston terriers, as blocked anal sacs are predisposed to infection or worse. We also have a cream Golden retriever/English lab mix, a service dog school dropout.

She too has allergies and itchy skin and ears, which previously required medicated drops and antibiotics. Since we’ve adopted her and switched her to a V-dog diet, we have eliminated the need for the medications.

In conjunction with routine hygiene, V-dog has eliminated Willow’s itch ears and skin. The recurring problem areas have healed and the fur has regrown. She is as comfortable as any dog without allergies.

Besides the V-dog dry food, we use the peanut butter and blueberry wiggle biscuits as treats after potty breaks, and the girls get a breath bone after they are brushed, get nail trims, or other “spa treatments” from Mama.

They love all of the V-dog line, and I can’t imagine changing brands at this point.

Please be careful. BOTH of our dogs developed Dilated cardiomyopathy after using Vdog food for 2years. I vouched for this food until they got sick. Our first fur baby past away just 4 days after Diagnosis and our other fur baby was diagnosed days later.

A few different Vets stated the main culprit was most likely the food as they reviewed the ingredients and based off blood work leaving no room for any other explanation. Our other pup miraculously survived and heart healed after a change in food and heart meds.

She no longer has this diagnosis. I just wish we didnt have to lose our other pup to realize our wrong choice in choosing this food. Just putting this out there so others can be aware.

My 14-year-old dachshund has a delicate digestive system. Through the years, I have spent literally thousands of dollars on prescription and off the shelf dog foods, medications, vet bills, and overnight hospital stays when Stuart would go into full-on digestive crisis.

Meaning he would stop eating, suffer from nausea, have terrific bloody diarrhea, and would get incredibly dehydrated. I finally, after trying every animal protein dog food in every combination of ingredients known to man, came to the conclusion that he cannot tolerate animal protein – any animal protein.

So, to the naysayers that say dogs are carnivorous, you may be right. You put a steak and a bowl of vegan food in front of my dog and he will probably go for the steak. And then he will get very sick.

No thank you. He really likes the V-dog kibble food and eats the whole portion served. I do think the food makes him thirstier than other vegan dry foods I’ve given him, thus the four stars for increased trips out to go potty.

But, he has no digestive distress, his stools are firm and he seems healthy and happy. And, the food, comparatively speaking, is pretty fairly priced. That’s all I need to know. I would ask that the naysayers not be so quick to judge.

If the food is nutritious and supports the health of our individual dog’s needs, why should the fact that it’s vegan be of any consequence? I for one am delighted to finally find a dog food that works for my dog.

Unfortunately, my dogs didn’t like this kibble. My Rusty is a 6 year old AST, 85 pounds & he has never been a picky eater. He has Never left food in his bowl, but he wasn’t interested in this food. I honestly think his disinterest had more to do with the small size, the smell(lack of) & the texture of the kibble bites than the quality of the food.

I bought the senior kibble for my Chelsea, 12 years old, 55 pound APBT & she also had to be repeatedly coaxed into trying the kibble. Her top front teeth are somewhat worn down from years of chewing on beef bones, sticks, wood decks, fences & furniture 😉.

When some of tiny kibble pieces fell out of her mouth, she nudged them away with her nose & walked away from the bowl. Both of my dogs are now eating different Hill’s prescription diets (large dry kibble & canned) based upon their individual health needs.

I still can’t believe we have to request prescriptions from a Vet in order to purchase a specific dog food, but I’m trying to do what’s best for my dogs. Based upon the reactions from my two large dogs, adult & senior aged & who are definitely not picky eaters, I am disappointed with my purchase.

I can’t recommend this food especially for large breed dogs who typically eat large sized dry kibble. I’m very pleased that you are ethically/humanely producing high quality dog food & was willing to pay more to feed my dogs to support a company like yours, but they both didn’t like the Senior Recipe or the Grass Fed Beef Recipe.

I’m a pet sitter so I see TONS of different food brands with all my clients but I noticed one of my clients using Open Farm and her animals had great body composition and poop, this is important. I’ve raw fed for years but due to life being crazy I miscalculated my last order and needed to supplement with kibble to make it to the next delivery.

I got the Pork and the Salmon flavored kibble and both my younger girls have done great on it. I got the freeze dried for my older girls with more allergies and my 17 yr old JRT loves it. She hated all kibbles and that’s why I switched to raw years ago because of her allergies and skin issues and being so picky and she loves her raw but now she demands some of both in her breakfast, 6pm dinner, 8pm whatever’s left in the dinner bowl, and then a little 10pm snack.

And who am I to deny the queen of the house anything in life. I recommended the food and sent a baggie of it home with one of my clients with a picky eater and he inhaled it and she placed an order and now another boarding pup was having tummy issues on her food and her mom asked me for a suggestion and I told her we’d try the freeze dried and let me tell you, I’ve been keeping this dog for years and this is the most energetic and playful I’ve ever seen her and she’s a 10yr old catahoula who normally chills and stays to herself.

I just emailed her mom a 5 min video of her playing with my dogs in the yard. That has never happened. I truly believe it’s the change in food. My older girls have already requested that I put the Pork freeze dried on autoship so I will be doing that soon.

First, it took me MONTHS to discover a kibble that worked for my now 8 month old 50lb Ridgeback/Pitbull baby. At 3 months, she was originally on hills science large breed chicken puppy food until I discovered she has a bad chicken sensitivity.

We moved to merrick beef & sweet potato but still didn’t solve the issue… Then we tried OpenFarm beef & ancient grain. There was a slight improvement but nothing consistent. We moved away from ancient grains to see if just beef would help.

Again, improvement but no luck. I was adding pumpkin and boiled egg whites and OpenFarm beef broth to try helping bad tummy issues. Then she got what I believe was giardia (the worst!) and with everything thing going wrong, I researched lamb and venison benefits.

With the venison option being a little too much for my pocket, we tried OpenFarm lamb. At first I figured it was making things worse! Her poops were terribly watery at times. She was on an antibiotic and probiotics at the time.

That’s when I began adding oatmeal to her kibble. After that, VOILA!!! Improvement! We are now only using the lamb kibble with an added tablespoon of cooked oats and water to soften. Her poops are consistently FIRM and healthy! No more bad tummy issues.

I’m afraid to try any other dog food based on how bad things were so we’re gonna stick with what’s working for us. I am SOOOOOOOO happy the bad tummy phase is over (knock on wood) as it was racking up the vet costs.

If you are having stomach problems with your fur baby, and even beef isn’t cutting it, I certainly suggest the lamb dry dog food. Anytime I prep her food she sits waiting. The aroma definitely grabs her before hearing the food hit the bowl.

I hope you find a healthy option that solves your pups problems!.

Our 60lb rescue has been eating Taste of the Wild since we got him 2 years ago and we are very pleased with this brand! We started him off on the grain-free recipe at first but switched to the ancient grains line because he kept having loose stools.

Our vet also warned us that grain-free isn’t good for most dogs. After switching to ancient grains, our pup hasn’t had any problems! He’s quite a picky eater but he loves this recipe! Everyone has always commented on how soft and silky his coat is and I have to give credit to Taste of the Wild.

I did extensive research about the brand before choosing them and truly could not find a dog food that is better. Ingredients are all very high quality, well-sourced, and mixed in the correct ratios for a healthy dog.

Make sure you look at the recipes carefully when selecting though because some flavors have lower protein content than others. I highly recommend this brand and the ancient wetlands recipe! You can’t beat this quality at this price!.

I agree with Ella. If you have a pup who’s sensitive to beef or chicken, this product is the best go to! I’ve switched my boy quite a few times either because the food he was on was too pricey, he was allergic, or the food became hard to come by during the pandemic.

When I originally adopted my boy and he rescued me, he was on Royal Canian and his stool was incredibly loose so I knew right away to switch him. I switched him to his fur brother’s food which he did very well with but Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Venison became difficult to come by during the pandemic.

Even Chewy didn’t have the food for a while as the Natural Balance company stopped production. So had to switch him again. After much research I switched my boy over to TOTW High Prarie Bison and Sweet Potato.

He loved it and I read the bag to make sure there was no beef or chicken in the ingredients prior to buying. Originally there wasn’t but by the time he went through his second bag I started noticing that my boy was itching alot.

At first I thought it was an environmental change but then after the fourth bag I had enough and decided to re- read the ingredients just to see if maybe they changed. To my surprise they did and now the product had chicken by products, chicken meal, beef by products, and lasly beef meal.

I’m not sure which he’s allergic to so I decided to stay with TOTW but switch the flavor since he loved the brand so much and would clean his bowl to the point where it’s shiny again. After doing research again I was hoping there was a flavor that my boy would like but didn’t have chicken or beef by products or meal.

Came across this flavor and was hesitant at first as I’ve read that sometimes when dogs eat dog food that is fish flavored, they start smelling like fish. My medium size pup sleeps with me in my bed so the last thing I want to do is sleep in a bed that smells like fish lol.

Thankfully this is not the case and ever since switching him over, he’s been itch free for the most part, his skin is not as dry or let alone it’s not even flakey anymore, he constantly gets complimented on his brindle coat being so shiny when seen from afar and then when he’s pet by people they immediately compliment how soft his coat is.

I couldn’t be more satisfied and I like that I am saving some money in a way of investing in the 28lb bag at $49-52 that will last me 2 months verses a 14lb bag at $31-32 that only lasts a month. I agree though that it would be nice if the bags were resealable especially with how convenient it would be when switching over a pup.

I had to buy two containers when switching my boy over from the High Prarie to the Pacific Stream. Other than that definitely a great go to product if you have a food sensitive pup :)!.

I have only one Labradoodle now 9 years young !!! He doesn’t complain and he is very healthy and hardly ever sick. No joint problems whatsoever. I’ve been feeding Duck ala veg ever since6 months old he weighs 85 pounds and eats on demand and is not overweight and he gets around great.

I had a Goldendoodle that was 14 she ate it 8 years had plenty of vim and vigor!!! I feed the from treats also my dogs never got tired of their food. I recommended it to everyone I know or talk to it is a great product and my dogs thrive on it!!! I can’t say enough great stuff about their products and pet flow great prices and services I will always stay a Petflow customer for as long as they keep selling this Brand.

Return customers please read carefully. You are now paying the same amount for a. 26 lb bag that has always been 30 lbs! 5 lb bag now 4 lbs! Customers being significantly shorted! If you have always bought the 30lb bag you’ve just been shorted $15 in dog food! Fromm’s always more expensive and now they’re significantly decreasing bag size! Such bad deceptive business.

Bye bye Fromm’s. There’s many other good dog food out there and I would never do business with such a deceptive company.

I spent years as senior editor of some of the most widely read dog magazines in the world, but when I got a new puppy recently I turned to one of the veterinary world’s most respected nutritional experts for advice on what to feed.

Nutrition options and scientific knowledge constantly change so I appreciated getting a recommendation from someone who keeps up on the latest options. She wholeheartedly recommended Fromm Heartland Gold for Puppies.

But the proof is in how my puppy has thrived during this critical growth stage. He is the picture of health. The only reason I am not giving it five stars is that my puppy is a super picky eater so I often have to add toppers and mixers to get him to finish his bowl.

Have been feeding Fromm to my Great Dane for years. Excellent Large Breed food that has never presented any allergic reactions and no gas. Dog stools are formed but soft. Pups and Adults receive the nutrition they need with a Protein Level that does not push growth on young dogs but allows them to gain sufficient weight, muscle and bone mass.

I started my cavalier on Fromm several months ago. Vet recommended incorporating dry food into her feeding regimen. I wanted to find a good brand that had whole grain products and a friend recommended Fromm.

Bailey absolutely loves it. The adult small breed version as well as the regular adult version works well with small breeds such as cavaliers. The latter food size is small enough. The product comes in a variety of flavors for dogs needing a whole grain diet.

She has shown improvement in overall health and wellness since consuming this product.

So happy I made the switch to this food. My 8-1/2 y/o Husky/Pit mix was showing signs of aging – digestive issues, his fur was lackluster, and over the winter he sprained his elbow twice running in the snow.

I started looking into senior foods and had started him on a joint supplement when it hit me that I’m a vegan, why not try it for him. Literally the first week, his digestive issues were gone, his fur was softer and shedding less – which is amazing considering the Husky in him – and he is running around like he did well before he had his first sprain injury.

I have 4 rescue wolf dogs and 2 rescue labs. Lots of appetites! I balance out their diet with this food, they eat quite a bit of raw meat, veggies and fruits- but still need the vitamins and minerals for a healthy diet.

To them this bag has treats inside. After picking out all the chicken chunks they think I specially gave with dry dog food, they eat the rest of the remaining kibble. I am cautious of treats for dogs because of where they are manufactured and ingredients, they get raw cow bones, deer bones , chicken feet and occasionally a treat bone maybe once every 6 Mos.

My pack is healthy , happy and full of energy along with beautiful double coats of fur that float by me. Ordering was easy, cheaper than @ a regular store. The only problem that happened was their 6 mo treat bones didn’t come with their order after I told them they got treats on the way.

I contacted Chewy and they were shipped out that day. I’m trying the regular once a month delivery and will see how much it stays within my budget, rescuing dogs, I never know when another forgotten soul will need a place to feel safe and join my pack until they find their forever home.

I have fed this exact dog food except for it was chicken and rice for the last 5 years or so my 6-year-old dog was having some gut issues and when I went to get her up today on her shots for boarding I brought up some of the issues and he said you need to put her on Purina One I told him she already is on Purina One chicken and rice.

He proceeded to tell me to switch her to the lamb and rice formula. So I did this is the third bag (not of this size) it took her quite a few weeks actually quite a few months to fully get back to eating normal in fact she’s not there yet at first she would just nibble and then she started eating a little more and then got to where she was eating about half of her normal feast.

I know this is a long review my point is I can tell that it’s treating her better by the look of her poop and she doesn’t seem to do her stretching issues when she’s eating. Her shedding has got better and I will continue to feed it to her and I hope I continue to see improvements.

Please keep this product in stock that is one of the hard issues with this product. It’s very hard to find! I would definitely recommend this product to my friends and family!.

We added a 5th member to our pack for a Christmas present 🙂 He’s a beautiful german shepherd boy. The breeder had him on a $95 a bag puppy food. Yeah, just no. We bought another brand of puppy food and the purina canned food, which he ate.

We noticed after we bought the 2nd bag that he seemed disinterested in the food. Our pet store let us exchange the unopened bag of the previous food for this. We bought the biggest bag they had, not knowing if he would even like it.

He loves it and is devouring every meal with a little canned as a topper. We also give this to our 2 year old Golden who seems to love it, which is a bonus because he has been a picky eater from the day we brought him home.

They both love it. With 5 dogs, feeding time can be hectic, but it’s a team effort and every one of them is eating a Purina brand of dog food!! These two boys on the Large Breed Puppy and my three small ones are on the Purina Beneful with the matching wet food as a topper.

Geez it’s nice not having 4 or 5 different foods. Wonderful food!.

I mean I hate to rate this product this low as the companies founder seems well versed and educated in canine diets. Along with the raving reviews of other customers dogs really showing satisfaction with their pets increase in energy, skin and coat health and just overall major signs of a healthy dog within 2 to 3 weeks of the initial switch to ketona’s dog food recipes.

So many reviews have that 2-3 week week rave… and at their industry leading highest price range for a lil over 20lbs of dog food. As loving dog owners, i myself put my dogs diet over mine it seems, that’s what we all want to hear as I assume most of us ended up here after a Google search in desperation trying to find the food that my dog (an Alaskan malamute) would finally have a food that fit her high protein, low carb needs.

I’m at that 2-3 week mark of being consistent with the company’s instruction of how to start to feed their food and adjust as needed. Man I want to say my 5 yr old female mal was acting her age again and losing that dull dry coat dander sheen we’ve come into this incredibly hot summer.

I want more than anything to be reviewing in agreement with the 4/5 star reviews this food as but i can’t. This chicken recipe as literally exactly the opposite of those reviews and exasperated my dogs discomfort.

The sheen has turned to dry and really dirty feeling with her dry skin being so bad and flakey it looks like someone took her into the rice fields in Asia, 10 times as bad as the pert plus dandruff shampoo commercials of the 90s where it looks like someone sneezed that powdered butter stuff you add to popcorn for post pop butter flavor additive… her thyroid as been checked and I’ve never had any issue with chicken allergies prior to this.

I’m unsure what they’re using as “chicken protein†in this recipe but I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that it’s an allergic reaction. That’s the only reason it’s not 1 star… is I still have faith this food is gonna help my dog and the recipe selection was to blame and not the company’s it’s self.

So I went ahead and ordered my second purchase of ketona’s food, in 2 weeks, In hopes they live up to there marketing promises of better nutritional canine needs being met. Almost $300 in dog food for 1 dog in two weeks… is apparently what I’m willing to risk on you guys and your company and the products you provide are gonna help my dog find the comfort she deserves.

Please live up to your company’s business statement with this salmon recipe, I’m betting on you guys!!!.

When we lost our pup Aug of 21 from cancer complications, I knew it had to of been sourced from food. So in Sept of 21 the month to the day after losing my 12 y/o boy I was presented with the opportunity of paying a rehoming fee for a little 8 week old lab I knew he’s what my left behind 10 y/o deaf female dogs heart and my families hearts needed.

So we welcome him and I knew I had to start him from the get go on the best dog food a human could buy and this brand after reading so many articles and watching food nutritionist videos always led to this brand.

I did have the pup on large puppy and my senior girl on the senior up until just a few days ago I switched them both to this and may do like another reviewer does up there and switch between RR and Original just for the poultry aspect as well.

I love how they come running when I say breakfast/dinner time and they’re anxious/excited the whole time I’m making their bowl up as I add a tablespoon of Orijen soft canned food too with some water to create some gravy for them.

I tell the both of them all of the time how their late brother would have loved these breakfast/dinner dishes just as much. Yes, I talk to my deaf dog. Ever since she came into my life at 8 weeks. Haha.

But I also love how the both of them get compliments on their fur looking so nice all of the time.

I received this dog food as a part of a review and trial from Home Testers Club and it definitely did not disappoint. Upon receiving it I read the packaging to make sure it had an appropriate amount of protein and fat for my pups.

I have two Pitbulls and their breed requires high protein and high fat for their diet. This food is almost perfectly balanced for them so that made me happy, however, it still needed to be put to the test of two finicky eaters.

The food itself is very high calorie compared to a lot of mainstream dry dog foods, so definitely read the directions for feeding and give the appropriate amount as it is likely less kibble than you are used to dishing out for your fur baby.

My first impression was a little shocked at the smell. It smells pretty bad in my opinion, however it comes in a recloseable bag so that isn’t a deal breaker. Both dogs actually loved it. And they both seemed to take to it well and thrive with plenty of energy and no upset stomachs.

The Victor line of foods are great no peas! Not sure why but anything with peas bothers our dog (loose stools and unhappy anal glands we tried alot of foods). I just wish they had different flavor profiles beef vs chicken.

We switched from the Victor classic professional to the purpose performance since our dog didn’t seem to care for it anymore. After some research on dog food advisor I picked this one. However they all seem to be the same beef flavor so he still only eats half his food unless it’s dressed up with something tasty.

Also chewy is expensive. I ordered from chewy because the local place was out of stock and of course I waited until we were almost out to try to by more my fault. Chewy was $5 more than local pet stores not sure why?.

Our dog came to us on a grain-free beef kibble, and with the recent DCM research, we switched him to a salmon formula marketed to address any issues with a sensitive skin and stomach, which he did well on until the company switched the formula in late 2020.

Then after belching, loose and unformed stools, dandruff, shedding, and dull fur (despite a fish oil capsule twice per day with meals), we transitioned him over to this performance kibble. The skin, fur, and GI issues have resolved or are almost fully resolved, and this is only about two weeks after the transition, now fully on this kibble for the last 1.

5 days. I did notice only meat meals and blood meal in the ingredients list, as opposed to actual pure muscle animal meat/protein—which I do question to a point (but other dog foods use these ingredients as well).

Apparently, there was an ingredient reformulation around 2019, per other internet sources, with some controversy regarding the blood meal addition. On a positive note, I do like seeing the added glucosamine and chondroitin in the formula as well.

We do also add water and a little canned food in gravy with a fish oil capsule in with the dry kibble. Sometimes we will add a boiled egg or sardines for “fresher” protein as well. So for now, he seems to do well on this kibble and gobbles it right up.

Hopefully, he will continue to like it, and hopefully, this formula will not change anytime soon.

I needed a food that had a lot of glucosamine and Chondroitin and for my old German Shepherd. He was ailing from old joints in his front two legs. The veterinarian told me that he could start a regiment of high glucosamine and chondroitin dog food and treats.

As I cannot afford the expensive dog food that they suggested as well as the treats I had to scramble and look for something that was comparable to what they were suggesting as well as close to what they suggested without a prescription.

I switched him over to this dog food and he has not been limping ever since except for obviously very cold days. I definitely recommend this dog food.

I would not feed this to my dogs even IF I GOT FREE FOR LIFE!! I truly wish I could go back. way back to when I first got my first set of MinPins. Daisy Rocky. At 25 these were my babies gave them what they wanted.

Of course it was before the days of World Wide Web. and yes I too fed Kibbles Bits to my babies until both my dogs were diagnosed with diabetes. no, they were not same liter, but vet said it was directly related to nutrition this horrible food that was all all corn meal, was NOT considered a full protein source! Read the ingredients.

compare. it’s horrible! Now, I can eat my dogs food, it has about 8 ingredients, salmon, blueberry sweet potatoes, cranberry. absolutely no filler or corn. Why fill your dog with crap you would never eat, is a filler, or is synthetic.

Kibbles Bits is one of the worst out there! It’s like us having McDonalds everyday at every meal! Yes, it tastes good. but causes obesity as they make it taste good with fake flavours. Please, DO Research! Please, just look up.

is Kibbles Bits Good for your dog? Or. as any Vet. I ended up having to give insulin 2x daily for Rocky for his lifetime, after him going blind at around 8 yrs, but she got a little better after changing her food lost weight.

Now, my new babies get dehydrated raw food just add a little water they have fresh fish. It’s proven to minimize tooth decay, and proven to be better than even raw food. Please, you all can do better if you really love your fur babies! If they don’t love the taste of new food add a tbs of organic pumpkin.

This dog food is affordable and we got a huge bag at very affordable price. it is very appealing to our little guy Lucky. It has meat, soft and crunchy peices in different flavors and shapes. No improvement needed for this product.

It has met our expectations and exceeded them. Yes I 100% reccomend this to dog owners especially small breeds. Lucky likes the tiny tiny milk bone shapes and the soft cheese flavors. He loves this food it’s the perfect dry dog food for small dogs.

It’s shapes and size and colors and smell is very appealing to Lucky. He likes the different textures soft, crunchy and meaty. It’s the variety that has everything so there have to be a flavor, texture, shape and flavor appealing to even the pickiest eaters.

The small peices is easy for Lucky to eat. Lucky nibbles on this all through the day and sometimes night. He has lots of energy and plays about all day long. He always has a fresh bowl of Kibbles and Bits 24 hours a day 7 days a week and he loves it.

I’m sorry the bag is so wrinkled. I reccond this to any pet owner.

Highly recommend the product, but maybe not so much the company selling it. After several years, the pups still love this food; but alas, for over a year the stores in Tulsa, OK and Springfield, MO stores continue to refuse stocking Nutro Ultra products; so one can never take advantage of the savings of doing online order with local pickup.

Their primary competitor does stock locally in both cities, and has been offering better discounts. The explanation from corporate is that it’s the local manager who decides store inventory. Apparently, corporate has no influence on local stores, and neither does Nutro reps; or perhaps its not a brand Petco cares that much about continuing to sell.

BTW – Royal Canine is a good alternative if Nutro is not available. Expensive, but dogs have done well on it, also.

My Border Collie absolutely loves this food!! I used to feed him some sort of purina healthy weight and he ate that for years with no problems but recently I noticed that he did not like it anymore. I wanted what was best for my boy so I decided to research some of the best and affordable dog foods for him! I love the size options they have for the bags.

15lb is the perfect size for us and can last my border collie at least a month or more which is great! This food smells and looks so much better then purina and I’ve noticed that he has so much more energy and has such a shiny coat.

Definitely would recommend this dog food if you are looking for a change, personally I’ve noticed a lot of changes. Including my dog actually getting full off of his food instead of him begging for more food right after he’s done.

I have done a lot of research in dog foods as my oldest (now 6 year old) had extensive bowel surgery/removals when she was 1. We wet the food for her for easier digestion and add a digestive aid to help her break down the food as quickly as her bowels process the food so she gets the most out of the nutrition that this band offers.

I stick with grain free as she doesn’t need the fillers. Waste of space anyways for her needs. I am very satisfied that she can maintain her weight with this food. We have been using this brand for a couple years now and are very pleased.

My dogs would eat this dry but I know that some of your dogs may not. Just add water and let it soak for 5 to 10 minutes, it will open up an aroma they will just love.

Whew, where do I even start? My pup is around 6 months old now and we’ve been feeding him Victor for about a month. I wanted to wait to write a review until we had enough time go by. Previous to this, his poops were NASTY.

Like. soft serve in the summer sun nasty. And the gas and the smell. I’ll save y’all the horror. This is my first dog, so at first I didn’t realize that it was the old food that was doing it! I thought maybe it was the treats I was giving him, or maybe he was just stressed or something.

Definitely the old kibble-with-raw-chunks. Whoever says all dogs should be on a raw diet is just plain wrong. The minute we switched to this kibble, my boy’s entire schedule changed. His poops are nice and solid, he goes about 3 times a day and right on time, which is nice for us.

He seems less bloated and grumpy, with more energy (not so nice for us lol). I can’t recommend this food enough! I did all of the research and I’m glad I settled on this one. The Victor crunchy treats are great, too! Thanks, Victor!.

Well, I did a ton of research on the best dog foods, as I have a [large silver lab] dog with food sensitivies, gut issues, and skin issues. The ingredients seemed good, so I ordered a bag of this and transitioned my pup into it.

He did NOT like it and would absolutely not eat it. This is unfortunate, as it took a LONG TIME for the bag to be gone – and it was expensive. When we transitioned him to American Journey, Pup would eat the AJ food and leave the Victor.

Not sure if he’s a picky thing or if this was just gnarly-tasting.

Until I tried this poultry free food, my pup had diarrhea and was constantly hungry. She had several bowel movements during the night which meant that I was awake most of the night cleaning up after her.

Poor baby had to deal with me trying all kinds of remedies, vet recommended, but nothing worked. I continued to research and finally found pet parents who enlightened me to the fact that she might be allergic to chicken.

I never knew this could have been the problem. It was!! I always cook some additional protein for my 2 dogs that I add to their meals. I stopped cooking chicken entirely and opted for turkey, white rice, pumpkin and began adding this kibble to her meals, little by little.

AMAZING!! No more diarrhea, no more vomiting, no more being up all night cleaning up after my sweet girl. Plus, she’s much more calm during the day and sleeps better through the night! I’m thrilled!! If you have a pup that’s been having dietary issues, tummy issues, poopie issues – give this a try.

Add to their diet slowly and discontinue anything that lists ANY chicken by product, meal, etc. in their product. I hope this helps someone out there with a similar issue. I’m sticking with this product and highly recommend it!.

I started him on this in February and transitioned from the Hill he was eating while I fostered. Everything went well until May. Then started having supply problems and he started eating less. At the time I thought hot weather he needed less.

In July I I top dressed his food with some Hills Science Diet I was given at adoption. Even though that food was older he seemed to eat eat better. Then in June due to no local store available I bought Purina Pro Plan.

When started blending or top dressing with that he again are better. There was also some iffiness with the kcal or cup original was 387 then I saw a 323 kcal/cup number. Walmart was unable to confirm number and most recently don’t think I could find number on bag.

Due to his consumption preference and horrible availability I’m switching.

This review is for the Pure Balance Lamb and Brown Rice adult dry dog food. Do NOT buy this for your dog. About a month and half ago, I purchased this for my heeler mix 9 year old dog as she had become picky.

I fed her one single bowl and yes she loved it. However, she threw up the undigested food that night. The next morning I woke up to bloody stool all over my house. This progressed throughout the day to vomiting and her passing straight blood in large amounts.

By 2pm I took her to the vet. She was experiencing internal hemorrhaging from the dog food. A costly $1,000 vet bill and five day stay in the animal hospital later, I brought her home. Had I not taken her that day, she would have died.

I contacted Wal-Mart and begged them to look into the food before another animal was made sick or possibly died. While the crickets chirp, I’m still awaiting a reply. PLEASE do not feed this brand of food to your pets.

Feed anything but this.

Canidae was originally recommended by our first dog’s breeder 17 years ago as a top choice of dog food to use. She raised AKC Austrailian Shepherds and well known in our area as a top show dog breeder.

She fed her own dogs with the All Life Stages. Our Austrailian Shepherd lived to be just over 14. She was absolutely wonderful, 100% healthy, energetic, intellegent, a beautiful coat and never an upset stomach.

Much of her health, other than an active lifestyle, came down to great nutrition. Our newest Aussie is also being fed with Canidae and when we ran low and tried a new substitute of a popular brand, she snubbed it.

She could not wait to scarf down what she was missing. So clearly the taste is there. It’s a great brand, good value and even better for those who have multiple dogs and those with dogs of differing ages.

We live on family acreage which includes another Shepherd and she is also on Canidae. Makes it easy.

So I’ve been using this brand since 2012. I was initially attracted that they used only human grade ingredients. This has since changed. They no longer advertise that, and have a whole blog entry on their site about how using human grade ingredients isn’t that important.

Recently noticed my pets’ coats are not as shiny. Came on here and read reviews, saw the reviews about food dust etc. Wow! I’ve noticed the food dust too. So I wrote Canidae and told them that we are all noticing a formula shift.

I advised them they should improve the quality of the food and that I am personally willing to pay MORE for a higher quality food so please start using human grade ingredients and mark the price up a bit if needed.

Got a formulaic “sorry your pet is sick” copy and paste customer service response. Wow, Canidae — is your dog food making so many animals sick you just assume that’s what every message says? That’s.

This dog food is fantastic. WHolesome ingredients, no rubbish fillers, lots of quality supplements including probiotics and good healthy main ingredients. I never notice any problems with the dogs when they are fed this stuff like I with many others (eg skin, ears allergies) and it’s already a reasonable price when bought in bulk but I always manage to be able to get it on special of some kind to make it even more affordable.

I willingly pay extra for my dogs health anyway. I highly recommend it. The main reason it doesnt get 5 stars is that it does have a few too many carbs and its not Aussie made. But it has no wheat & peas are not a main ingredient so those are more important to me.

I live on the Gulf Coast. We deal with hurricanes pretty much yearly now. So, in case we have to hunker down thanks to an overnight pop up storm, or evacuate because of a major storm, the small bags of this type of premium food are excellent to have on hand! The small size is convenient for storage and travel for sure.

If you have to leave with clothes, belongings, crated animals or animals in general, you only have so much space even in a large vehicle, and the small bags of high quality food nake things so much easier.

One less worry, you know. In the event of a sudden storm with no warning, it is an almost guaranteed likelyhood that A. You won’t be able to physically access supplies in town due to water and downed trees or B.

Everyone buys up everything in town as soon as access is opened up more freely and it takes a few days to get more supplies to the stores. Or, if you have to leave ahead of time, should you try to restock food and supplies to bring with, people have already grabbed everything, and if you leave expecting to restock wherever you go, you may have to travel farther than you expected, and people from where you live may have already had the same idea and bought up everything already.

Don’t even get me started on the quarantine hoarding we all have witnessed. Quarantine hoarding is what lead me to Chewy. com, and I haven’t and will not look back after the very positive and wonderful experiences they have provided me and my families and friends with.

10/10 would recommend and will definitely be a permanent customer. These bags of food keep for awhile so if you don’t use them in hurricane season they make a good snack in the wintertime.

This seems like a pretty good dog food (as far as moderately priced kibble goes), but my dogs don’t really like it (in fairness, they are mostly raw-fed, and quite picky), but my biggest issue is the enormous size of the kibble.

I’m tired of grinding it for my smallest dog, and I don’t think that’s a great way to feed her anyway. Apparently, Evolve doesnt make any small kibble. I guess they think dogs are all over 50 pounds.

Im contemplating buying something else, but i think it has become impossible to find good dry food since Merrick is no longer Merrick, and Purina put Evo out of business.

My fiancé bought a 13lb bag of Evolve at Big Lots a couple months ago and my dogs absolutely love it. My cats love it too. My border collies coat looks better than it has in several years. We have tried expensive brands of dog food.

It’s funny because I was introduced to Brother’s complete by the owner himself. Short (long) story: I was walking my pup when a friendly older gentleman came out of his house with a bag of dog food and said “I have a treat for your dog.

” He got down on the ground with my pup, pet him and, with my permission, started feeding my dog handfuls of food. To my surprise, MY DOG WAS ACTUALLY EATING IT. I was shocked because my dog had been on a hunger strike on and off for several months when I switched from puppy food to adult, he hated it.

When I switched his food he hated it even more. Also, I began to hate the food too because I would try different ways of serving it and one time I saw how the food expanded in water VERY strangely, I thought that wasn’t natural.

-so seeing my dog eat this food like crazy (hunger strike was in effect at this time) I asked him what on earth that food is. He said “it’s my food, I make it. ” He proceeded to tell me about why and how he started the company; he owned a pet food shop with his ex wife and went to the dog food conventions and was horrified by how they made the food.

He said, “these people (his customers) were my friends, I knew their dogs! I couldn’t sell them that stuff. ” So he sold his shop, got a divorce, married his long-ago sweetheart, packed his stuff moved to Florida and said “we’re going to do this.

” They said the way they could afford it was by cutting out the middle man and selling it themselves through this thing called, “the internet. ” He was a doll. All human grade food, naturally sourced protein, probiotics, helps my dog maintain a healthy weight, keeps his coat health, and doesn’t cause his allergies to flare up.

Couldn’t recommend this brand enough. From its inception, to its growth, this brand has been a game changer. No more hunger strikes and I know what I’m getting is great for my dog. Can’t describe how happy I am with this product and this company.

Also, my pup loves every flavor so I switch up between the venison, chicken, and Turkey and my pup loved them all. Thanks for distributing Chewy!!.

This is my 6th bag of Brothers Turkey Meal and Egg. My black GSD, Cali, was itching and scratching like crazy. I was ready to put her on a Prescription Dog Food when I read about Brothers and decided to try it.

The itching and scratching completely stopped after the 3rd bag. However, her stomach issues are not resolved, and her daily poops are soft but at least the diarrhea is gone. The food is expensive, but I’ve decided to keep her on this brand to maintain the itchy skin.

She doesn’t like fish, so that’s not an option. Her coat is shiny and looks amazing. She likes the food and licks her bowl clean. In the future, I may try some of the other Brothers varieties but for now, this is her go-to dog food.

I purchased Brothers Lamb and Egg formula despite it being really pricey because my dog was constantly licking his paws and showing signs of allergies. I made the switch very gradual, but despite that, my dog did at first experience some loose stools.

That did go away though in about a week or so though. I will say that my dog no longer licks his paws incessantly, which is really great, however, he now has hot spots. It might be the egg in this formula.

I am not certain, but my dog has never had egg before. Overall I would say this brand is worth a try if your dog is having allergy issues. I wish Brothers had a formula to try that did not have egg as an ingredient.
