20 Best Keratin Oil For Hair (2023 Updated)

This stuff is incredible! Light weight, hydrating, and smells amazing! I use a quarter sized amount on damp hair, follow with the Lanza Trauma Treatment, and style! My hair is so silky soft and shiny! I also use this to finish my hair and add hydration throughout the day.

I love that it has added heat and UV protection! For those with fine hair like me it may feel heavy immediately after applying but give it a few minutes and your hair will soak it up! Highly recommend! I use in conjunction with the Lanza Keratin Healing Oil Shampoo and Conditioner and it’s incredible.

Lanza has single-handedly saved my bleached and heat damaged hair. I will use this oil for the rest of time!.

I have tried so many hair oils and this one is by far the best. I just finished my last bottle, lasted about a year and I repurchased it again. My hair dresser said she could tell a difference in the health and density of my hair from using this.

It’s light, gives my hair body, shine and it I have noticed it protects it from the heat. The other oils I have tried do not provide the benefits like this one does. I find the scent is very very light.

I also have fine but damaged hair and it does not make my hair greasy or weighed down. This is in permanent rotation, love it!.

A minute amount of this oil goes a long way so one bottle will last forever! I use HALF a pump of it, rub it in the palms of my hands and lightly rake it through the ends of my hair, but never the scalp since it produces enough oil on its own.

It helps to keep the hair moisturized, fresh, smooth, and soft for days in between washes (I wash once every 7 days or so). I especially love it in the winter time when the cold air outside seems to dry out my hair an extra amount.

Best bonus is if there is a little extra on your hands after applying it to your hair, you can just rub it into the skin! Helps hydrate your hands and feels great! 192/10 would for sure recommend!.

This hair oil is a staple in my routine!! I’m almost done with my first bottle and I’ve had it over a year! It’s a heat protectant and great at making the hair soft, smooth and shiny. Will be repurchasing after I finish the bottle! I would love to check out the rest of the keratin line! I think this is the best hair oil I’ve ever used and I’ve dabbled in drugstore and quite a few high end oils and this is my favorite.

The Moroccan oil argan oil is nice but this Lanza oil has so many benefits to it and amazing ingredients! I think it smells really nice too!.

So my stylist recommended this to me because she sells it at her salon. I saw that ulta had a sale on these and I bought it with the mask. The mask was not good. This oil however was good at first when you put it on, the next day it will dry out and your hair feels dry afterward.

Then when you get it wet and shower your hair is back to silky soft again. It’s almost as if there’s some sort of chemical that made it that way. I have to look into it. But it smells good. It just dry my hair out on the 2nd or 3rd day so I can’t go far after using this without rinsing my hair off.

It’s not like putting coconut oil on your hair where the oil doesn’t evaporate and dry your hair out. This thing does. Maybe it’s the alcohol or silicone? This is def not suitable for someone like me with dry damaged over bleached hair.

Maybe for someone with already pretty healthy hair to begin with that don’t need too much moisture the second day.

Absolutely love this product. I first bought the keratin spray which moisturizes, strengthens and gives silly shine. Love the way it smells and it was super light. I bought It long time ago and couldn’t remember from where.

I looked it up online and found this serum, bought it and tried it. It’s thicker but has the same effects. It repairs dry and damaged hair due to chemicals and heat. And most importantly gets rid of frizzy hair.

I apply it on damp hair before blow drying my hair. It can also be used post styling to give a healthy and bouncy look without weighing down the hair. A must try!.

I started using this oil about a month ago because my hair was starting to get really damaged from the dye. Boy have I seen a HUGE difference. My hair is so soft now, I can see a MAJOR difference. I deff.

I feel like spray type products can be very hit or miss on my hair. This was a hit! It’s a great foundation to either build off of and layer other products,or on its own honestly if you want a very lightweight, flowy finish.

Perfect to spritz all over after towel blotting and before you comb. Leaves subtle moisture and gives reinforcement to strands. Also has a nice, fresh citrus type scent that I believe matches the shampoo and conditioner in the same line.

I bought this for my son whose hair curls up and gets very puffy when it grows out. I’ve bought him many different products but this is the first one that really “tamed” his hair. It seems to straighten his hair so it maintains it’s shape unless it’s a particularly windy day.

He is very happy with the product. We will be purchasing again!.

I bought this along with the heat protectant cream due to stores being out of heat protectant in black bottle. worse product for high heat use! This duo suggested by one of the Sally girls caused my hair to get burnt! I was so angry! my hair would not curl and the smell stayed for 2 weeks.

I had to do Aphogee protein treatments 3 times before my hair felt normal. I have been wearing a wash and go style for 2 more weeks with keratin leave in packs just to re strengthen my strands. I was too embarased to go to my stylist for fear she’d say she had to cut my hair off! I will never listen to the sally gals again nor will I ever use this gold bottle formula.

I actually like this product been using it for a while now and the quality is amazing the effect it has on my hair is really good also the smell is just fantastic. I would definitely recommend this product to everyone looking for a hair oil.

This oil is absolutely amazing! It makes my hair so soft and healthy I’m absolutely obsessed! It even keeps my extensions looking great!! I have bleached hair and platinum extensions, so my hair gets extremely dry but not when I use this magic in a bottle! It’s definitely a little on the expensive side but you only need a small amount I will last you a while, and it also smells amazing!!! I would definitely recommend you to give it a try!.

When it’s near or on your face, you have to put up with it all day long so if it doesn’t smell good, that’s what you’re smelling! It matters. Anyways, I love this. I recommend it. It’s definitely worth the money.

Looove this stuff. My hairstylist originally recommended it to me and I was nervous about the price but SO glad I went for it. I’m on my second bottle and the first one lasted a year so it’s a fantastic investment.

I use it about five minutes after towel drying my hair and then again after I blow dry. It’s also great if you’re having a day where your hair is especially frizzy and you need to smooth everything down.

I recently had a lot of coloring bleaching on my hair of course it damaged it. So I have been using everything to try to repair my hair. I found this at Walmart it was very inexpensive I think $5. It works really well!! I think the package said to put a small amount on your hair before blow drying not to put it on the roots.

I have been putting it on my hair except the roots, the night before I’m going to wash my hair letting it absorb into my hair all night. I’ve noticed a big difference, my hair is getting a lot more healthier.

The oil has a pleasant citrus/orange scent.

Honestly the best hair oil I have ever used. I have naturally wavy hair (2B-Cish LOL) and it leaves it silky and without a ton of build up (I do clarify every now and again to just keep hair fresh). My husband has naturally curly hair and it is long, like these amazing ringlets (yes I am jealous! :-D) and it is great for his hair too and now he wants to steal it all! I was so bummed when HASK stopped their macademia line, because the shampoo and conditioner was amazing as well! Glad I was able to get these.

And since a little goes a long way we will be set for quite some time. 😀 Oh and can I just mention the smell, heavenly!!! And it’s lasts in my hair! So 100% would recommend if you can get your hands on it!!.

I got this as a gift and used it as a hair treatment before showering without reading the instructions! (Always read the instructions). It worked great as that! However turns out you use it on wet or dry hair to ‘create a silky smooth finish’.

So basically, it’s supposed to add moisture and shine to your hair and is a styling product, not so much a treatment. I will definetly repurchase and will be using it both ways. Oh and it smells divine!.

This product along with far too many hair and skincare products use the same cheap weird smelling fragrance that gives me a headache and makes me want to vomit. I’ve wasted so much money on products that all have this fragrance.

I’m not even sensitive to fragrances, just this one. My friend said it smelled like Febreeze. I don’t know. It’s not good though.

My stylist introduced me to this styling product and I love it! My hair is curly but fine , and I use this product to give me smooth ,sleek shine without weighing my hair down. I use one pump after shampooing and before I blow dry my hair.

This is my second purchase. I started with a trial bottle. I really liked it so went ahead and splurged on the full size. I am 50, my hair is nearly 100% white, and is not color treated, this is the result of natural aging.

For this reason, my hair has uneven texture and can be quite dry. This product works well with my hair, giving me a smooth result without being oily or greasy. After trying this I bought the Silk Express Miracle Silk Leave-In.

I’m contrasting my thoughts below. Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin gives me a smooth, “finished” look without appearing greasy or oily. It dries quickly when styling and doesn’t have a bad smell. However, it can cause my hair to feel somewhat synthetic.

It’s difficult to describe, but I believe that’s the result of the keratin on the hair shaft. It’s not bad, but it gives off hair that looks more styled, or “done,” than I prefer. Silk Express Miracle Silk Leave-In also gives me a smooth, finished look, but it’s a very natural look.

My hair is bouncy and silky when I use the Silk Express Leave-In. With the Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin, my hair appears like it’s been flat ironed. Silk Express appears like a really light, natural blow out.

Also, my hair feels silky, healthy, and naturally, by contrast the Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin makes my hair feel fake. Neither product cause my hair to look or be greasy or oily, which is awesome, so I can go two or even three days without washing my hair and it’s totally fine.

The major thing I don’t like about the Silk Express product is that it’s got an overly perfumed smell (although it dissipates when dried) and that it takes 20 lifetimes for it to dry down. I mean, I’m literally standing, drying my hair, for half an hour with the Silk Express product.

They say the Keratin product speeds up drying time. I don’t find that to be the case at all. However, the Silk Express product really takes an inordinate amount of time to dry down – and goodness forbid you put too much on your hair.

Both are good products, I have a bottle of each on my bathroom counter and use them regularly.

The hair product I have used that has made the hugest difference in my hair is It’s A 10 Miracle Leave In. I use all different types and each one literally makes or breaks my hair. My hair is so soft and strong when I use it.

If, by unfortunate chance, I don’t use it, my long fine hair breaks and feels/looks dull. I get such a great detangle from this as well. This review is for the one designed for blondes and I find it to be as effective as any of the other ones.

The only caveat is I don’t love the scent this one has. It’s a bit chemical. It isn’t bad enough for me to abandon the product though. It is a very small bottle and it’s expensive but you only need a few spritz after washing hair to get the benefits.

I haven’t noticed any true difference in the shade of my platinum hair from using this but it’s still such an amazing hair product. I don’t know what I did before using this!!.

I have used this product on a DAILY basis for the last 10 years! Though I ran out and tossed out the bottle today before I remembered to take a pic for my review, I still wanted to post SOMETHING! This product has SAVED my hair!! I haven’t been dying it nearly as often as I used to years ago, but it still hasn’t entirely healed from all of the processing I HAVE done in the past and due to this, I have semi dry, frizzy, and naturally curly hair.

I’ve used this hair serum both wet and dry and it works equally great each time. The formulation is in between a serum and a gel as far as consistency. It’s not too watery or too thick and it doesn’t leave a greasy feel or weigh my hair down.

On dry hair, this smooths out any frizz, flyaways and seals the ends. This would be perfect for really naturally curly hair (I believe) to smooth out curls and make them more defined. On wet hair, I use this before styling and it gives me a sleek and smooth polished look especially if used with a concentrated hair attachment on your blow dryer.

I’m a minimalist for hair products, but this one is a keeper. The scent is very subtle and pleasing. You only need a small amount. I have longer hair so I use two pumps on wet hair, just a single pump sparsley applied on dry.

I am careful not to put near the roots— you don’t want your scalp to look greasy. BUT if I do, I put what is left over on my hands to take care of the flyaways. This serum will leave your hair looking healthy with a nice glow to it.

I always get complimented on my hair. It feels really nice to hear how nice and healthy my hair looks when I, myself, know I have damaged hair from years of using blow dryers, curlers, straighteners day in and day out.

This bottle will last you a lifetime and the price is so reasonable. Definitely a holy grail product for me.

Smooth and shiny hair. I have dry brittle curly frizzy hair that is thinning. I have tried John Frieda and other expensive salon products to smooth my hair. This serum is fantastic. I saw a YouTube salon expert use a keratin serum after dyeing someone’s hair and he promised it doesn’t cause any damage.

So I started looking for a keratin serum and decided to try it because of its good reviews. I like the price and the quality of the serum! Have used it twice so far and it helps blend my natural hair smoothly with my silky smooth straight hair extensions 👍.

Disappointed with this product. I have long, dark brown, straight, ombre, bleached balayage hair. It’s thin, but I do have a lot of hair so it’s easy for me to tell when a product feels heavy or weightless on my hair This one felt heavy sticky as if my hair was dirty and needed a wash.

Not what I’m looking for in a leave in a leave in conditioner. I currently use Pureology 21 Benefits Color Fanatic Multi-Tasking Leave In Spray. I chose this one as 1 of my choices for my FFF spring 2022 box choices.

( I definitely wish I would have picked something else) I was hoping to like this one because it’s a little cheaper but I’d much rather pay the extra $ for the Pureology one. The Pureology one actually smells better, feels weightless and leave my hair shinier softer, no competition.

Second product I’ve tried by “it’s a 10” I’ve tried the original and i still cannot seem to understand the hype behind Thier products. Maybe it’s just not for my type of hair, simply feels way to heavy and sticky for me.

Why did it take my until today-years-old to realize that you can use this EVERY DAY?! I was my hair every 3-4 days, and used to use this as a leave in conditioner when my hair was still damp from the shower.

On my no-wash days I’d try to revive the dry ends of my ultra-fine/thin hair with hair oil and it never worked. To be honest, I had assumed I just couldn’t achieve shiny hair on any other day than my hair’s day 1.

I was so so wrong! I now use this every AM (after applying dry shampoo to my roots, I lightly spray this on the length of my hair), allow it to dry. It’s been a LIFE CHANGER! I’m 30 and have ultra fine hair, and this legitimately gives my ends softness, shine, and makes them smell good (smell is light).

It does NOT make my hair greasy or weigh it down. It’s nothing short of a miracle. I don’t know why it took me this long to understand how to use this product, but it’s better late than never. I’ll be purchasing this product for life!.

It makes your hair so smooth without making them look greasy even if you put a lot in. I’ve got my hair dyed blonde but I haven’t really notice the brightening effect. It doesn’t have the best scent, I’d say it’s neutral but definitely brings a difference to the appearance of your hair.

The effect seems to stay on just until the second wash. A really good product though with lavender and avocado oils in.

I used this before using hot tools this morning, and it made my hair so soft! I found it on clearance at Ulta for $7, and I am so glad that I did. I would pay full price. I’m interested to see how the brightening effects show over time because I just started a purple shampoo routine again to get rid of brassiness, but today my blonde looks brighter to me, and the damaged bits are a lot shinier! This didn’t weigh my hair down at all!.

This serum is so good! My hair is heavily highlighted and I love for my hair to have shine yet not feel greasy. The clean lavender scent is awesome. I used this before and after blow drying my hair for added softness.

I’m sure even if you didn’t have blonde hair you could definitely use this lightweight serum.

I was lucky enough to get to trial this along with the conditioner component for a month as part of the trial team. I am a big fan of the OGX brand; I love their product design, theirs ingredients style and I normally have a great time when using them, so I had high expectations for this, especially cos this brand, for a supermarket brand, can be quite hyped.

I have very long, dark, thick hair that goes past my buttocks (lol) so I am always very particular on my products cos I need something that not only lasts and goes a long way for the amount of thick lengths it’s being used on, but also gives the right end results for my intense hair and gives a nice result without much styling products or heat added to it.

Unfortunately this product was not the right fit for me and my hair, the hype was too much and I was left disappointed in the end. The SMELL as soon as you get it out of the bottle I found was SO INTENSE – something you don’t want even if it’s nice – but also was not a nice smell.

It was an oil smell, but reminded me of almost car oil? But not exactly that. It was just unpleasant and overpowering and it made it hard to use as I had to adjust to the intense smell and odd texture.

I had to use the shampoo a few times over, rinsing and repeating more than I usually would and using more than I would like each time, in order to get my hair feeling like it had gotten what it needed from it all over.

I also found that this felt very easily stripping of my natural oils leaving that “squeaky” feeling at my roots, which I hate. Whilst I found this not so pleasant to use whilst in the shower, ONCE OUT – and with my hair DRY- I found the results to be a lot better and thus making this have some come back for it and worth continuing to use for the purpose of reviewing.

Once dry, I found that the benefits it boasted to give were in fact there: my hair had more tamed frizziness and less frizz in general, it was smooth, it was softer and a little stronger, it had nice shine to it and it managed to keep its results for a long time which is important to me as I cannot wash my hair too often and need it to keep my hair looking nice between washes.

It did do just that. I found that it did not make my hair anymore manageable or easy to brush, but it made it soft and smooth and thus easier to get away with lazy looks and quick styling. All in all, for people like ME – with LONG, THICK HAIR – I would not recommend.

It is far too much time usage and product usage to be worth it and I would not buy this personally after reviewing it. It was too finicky. For my friends with shorter, perhaps maybe even more damaged and especially frizzy hair, I think this could be a really good fit! So long as they can handle the smell.

I am glad I got to try this and if I ever recommend this I will be warning of the smell first.

I’m torn. I used to use OGX products religiously from 2018-2020 until I had to look for a product with a better price per use ratio. I was excited to see this brand pop up for a VoxBox on the way, and decided to look up the brand and see what was new with them.

I was extremely disheartened to see that as of 2021, they were named in a class action lawsuit due to rapid hair loss. The culprit ingredient is DMDM hydantoin, which is a preservative that converts to formaldehyde when exposed to water.

I poured over the ingredients list and am happy to see that this product does not contain DMDM hydantoin, but still am disheartened to see that OGX uses this preservative when they made a plan to remove use of it and similar ingredients from formulations by 2015.

There is quite a bit of discourse about this product. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE note that this product, the Extra Strength Biotin Collagen line, is not noted in the lawsuit. I do believe the product in question was the Thick Full Biotin Collagen line, which seems to be a previous formulation of the product.

Some other reviews state that this product has previously been recalled, but I cannot find any supporting evidence to prove this to be true. Ethics has to come into the discussion at this point. This brand might be reformulating to meet new standards, but they continued to use a harmful ingredient in products after they acknowledged the dangers of formaldehyde producing ingredients in hair care.

When I used this product, I loved the payoff. My hair instantly seems more moisturized without being weighed down, and did wonders for my hair’s curl pattern. This does not seem to be the norm for curly hair having users, so be aware of this before you buy.

Would I buy this again? No. I do not support OGX’s business decisions regarding continued use of DMDM hydantoin in products, and being a long term user of their products, I’m angry that they didn’t do better.

Will I throw it out? No. It was free to try and doesn’t seem to be harmful. I will use it occasionally until it runs out. Do some research before you try this, and of course, READ THE LABELS!.

When I first bought this shampoo and conditioner it was to help cope with stress and hormone-related hair loss. I wanted something to thicken my strands I had left. My hair was long, about bra-band length, and these products left it dry and easily tangled.

I had planned on returning it because I was so unhappy but never got around to it. A few months later I got my hair cut short (jaw length) and while trying to figure out how to care for my new style, figured I’d give this stuff one last try.

It was a totally different experience compared to my long hair. My strands feel thicker and overall my hair feels fuller. It’s not as dried out and it doesn’t tangle. I tried going back to my old shampoo to see if the difference in volume was real or imagined, and the old stuff left me with flatter, slicker hair that had no body.

It’s true that it does not leave your hair silky smooth, but that’s part of how it works to create volume: your strands have more texture. My hair is still plenty soft, and because it’s not slippery it also holds heat styling shape better, too.

I also noticed in some reviews that they didn’t think it made their hair stronger overall and that’s. not what it does. Right on the label it says it creates the ‘appearance’ of full, voluminous hair.

The biotin doesn’t infuse the hair like a keratin would, it just coats the strand, so its effects only last until you shampoo again: it’s not a long-term restoring treatment. Collagen doesn’t exist in hair, in theory it could support a a healthy scalp and support follicle growth but there’s not a lot of evidence of that.

That said, if your hair is not already naturally dry and/or very long I definitely recommend giving it a try. It does what it says it will: creates the appearance of fullness. And the appearance is good enough for me.

This oil is amazing for the price. I have wavy hair but it’s incredibly frizzy and colour and heat damaged also, it’s hard to straighten and kinks out. This oil changed it completely. It is now smooth and shiny and smells amazing.

Couldn’t recommend enough. I tried expensive items but this one beats those.

As I’m getting older my hair is getting drier and more dull looking. Decided to try an oil to give it a bit of shine and this does the trick perfectly. It smells good and you only need two drops, my hairs short.

I put it on newly washed hair when damp and i actually i think it makes my hair dry quicker, it smells good too. It gives my hair a lovely shine and makes it nice and soft, I’ve even had people comment on the shine, so it must make a difference.

My new “go to” product. Love it!!.

Seriously, I can’t imagine how this got so many good reviews. It had a slightly gluey effect on my hair but did absolutely nothing for the frizz. And I didn’t see the “lustrous silky finish” as promised on the box.

It made my head itch even though I only put it on the middle and ends of my hair. The smell is like super cheap budget stuff and it’s an odour that really clings. I spent all day wishing I could just get home and wash it out.

I noticed most of these reviews were “collected as part of a promotion”. Generally I do find standard, non-promo, cosmetics products reviews more helpful. This was my first Tresemme product and certainly it will be the last.

This product didn’t really work for me. I applied it to my dry hair as it mentioned on the bottle’s instructions, however my hair still looks frizzy and dry. I tried three pumps (3 drops) and was not happy with the result so I tried a fourth pump and I was still not happy with the result.

I have been using SheaMoisture Hair and Scalp Serum and it worked better for me. leaves my hair shiny and frizz free. I was attracted to this product because of the ‘keratin’ hype, but unfortunately this product was not the one for me.

This serum really keeps my hair “in line”, avoiding the “fly aways” and the frizz. You just need a little of this product to tame your hair. I have tried so many other products but this one has really convinced me that I don’t need anything else.

Pricey, though.

I actually love the shine it leaves on the hair with out being too heavy. Awesome!! I allow my students to try on our clients and the results are FABULOUS it leaves the hair extremely shiny and bouncy

This is one of my holy grail hair products! I’ve had the same 10 ounce bottle for almost 2 years. I use it every time I wash my hair, which is every other day, and it’s only half gone. My hair is thick, high density, and is down to my butt.

I use 10 sprays of this on damp hair and comb it through to distribute. It does everything I need it to with no drawbacks! No weigh down, no weird residue, no bad smell, just shiny, smooth, beautiful hair! However, I will say if you don’t want to use silicones in your hair, or if you have very thin hair, then you won’t like this product.

But if your hair is medium to thick and you’re fine with silicones, then there is no reason you won’t absolutely love this product! I’m obsessed with this stuff and I will continue to buy it as long as they make it and don’t change the formula.
