20 Best Kennel For Large Dogs (2023 Updated)

I bought one of these and liked it so much that I just purchased another one. Both are the 42 inch size. I have 2 older 42 inch similar type kennels but they are a different brand and I paid a lot more for them.

I think that the BestPet brand wire pet cage/crate/kennels are just as good as the more expensive ones that I have. In fact I was able to purchase two of the BestPet kennels for what I paid for one of the older kennels I have.

I like the latches on the Best Pet kennels. They have a little “crook” on the end that prevents the latch from sliding open accidently. But it is easy for a human to open and close. I am an older woman and the kennels are easy for me to move around to the areas I desire to put them.

They are sturdy, but easy to handle,and have the plastic slide out tray at the bottom for easy cleaning, I was unsure about this Brand at first because the price was so GOOD that I figured something had to be flawed with this kennel but I was very wrong.

I do think it is a good idea to buy a couple of extra plastic trays or if you are crafty cut a piece of heavy duty plastic to have on hand when you change out a tray for cleaning. Plastic is just plastic so a heavy dog could cause damage to the tray.

But the trays I got with my kennels are not flimsy at all. The kennel comes with a plastic handle that can be attached at the top. I live in a rural and at night the coyotes and other undesirable critters come out and I have had problems with Tom cats just mauling my young cats.

So now I can put my kittens or young cats and puppies in kennels at night and I don’t have to worry and fret about what is happening in the dark to them. Also, this will save me money in Vet bills. The cost of just one of the large kennels is about the cost of an office visit to the vet so I am very pleased to wake up each day and know that all of my “babies” are safe and happy.

Included with the kennel is a wire divider that can be put in the kennel so you can keep pets separated from each other. I had one particular cat that had an injury that seemed to outsmart me and escape from any cage I tried to keep her in.

She can’t get out of this Best Pet kennel. I will buy a couple more of the 42 inch size kennels to have on hand because the price and quality is so great and I plan to buy a couple of the smaller wire ones to transport cats and pups to the vet in.

I find the plastic cat carriers to be attractive but not so practical when you have a heavy cat or a “wild” cat or unhappy dog that needs an injection from the vet before it can be removed from the carrier to be tended to.

I ordered this to keep my 9 month old pittbull in after being neutered and he took to it almost immediately. I also have a older and bigger pitbull and water to insure he didn’t bother the baby while he recovered.

Easy to assemble right out of the box, the door locks were a little difficult to close because they didn’t line up just right. The carrying handle was broken and I never found the piece. This particular cage weighs about 40 lbs so returning it for a broken handle at my cost seemed a little over the top so I didn’t bother.

My dog took to it almost immediately and tends to use it at night more. The metal isn’t really that strong and any rambunctious animal could probably tear through it pretty easy. It works for my needs but it seems a bit overpriced.

I bought the kennel without reading the reviews and was a bit concerned after I read them. I have a 12 week old GSD who isn’t kennel trained. It is working very well even though it’s not as strong as others that cost much more.

The first two nights the dog whined and jumped against the sides and nothing broke or bent. Day four and she knows it’s her little room and sleeps in it during the day. Personally I feel it’s a very good kennel for the price and if your puppy is young it will do well with this brand.

If you have a full grown dog that isn’t kennel trained this is not the kennel to purchase. As others have stated you cannot put anything heavy on the top as it will buckle although light weight things are just fine.

I bought the large size 48″ with the separator in the middle so it will be big enough for her when she’s full grown. I have the separator installed so she uses half of the kennel. When she is completely house trained I’ll give her the entire kennel to sleep in.

The bottom sheet pulls out easily for cleaning which is a plus.

This kennel served its primary purpose perfectly–I was able to board my dog on an international flight without issue. A few extra nuts and bolts were included, which was great. A few things to note for other travelers: -The crate has metal bolts but plastic wingnuts.

You may need to replace them with metal nuts, depending on the airline. -This crate is too large for some domestic flights, according to the airline I used. This wasn’t a big problem for us, as we were able to fly directly from the nearest airport, but if you need to make a domestic connection I would check on that.

-The live animal stickers pictured are not included, but my airline provided the stickers free of charge. This might be another thing to ask about. For every day users, my husky mix was able to take the door off of this thing when the bolts weren’t 100% tightened down, so this might not be ideal for escape artists.

Make sure the bolts are tight so they can’t wiggle the door off. The plastic seems very sturdy, though. Overall, solid crate but could be better for the price.

I had to replace my dog’s crate, typed in the name of the previous crate I had been using and this one popped into the window. The door can be hung to open from the left or from the right. The door is opened by squeezing two metal tabs that compress springs.

Two metal bars fit into holes at the top and bottom of the door opening. The casing for the front of the lock is plastic, easily removable even from inside the crate and my dog was able to knock it off, and the door opened because nothing was now holding the metal bar/spring mechanism in place.

Wyatt is an escape artist who as a puppy, was able to open his first crate with his nose. The crate I replaced was Wyatt proof. I’m hoping Gorilla glue and some packing tape will keep the cover on the lock and the dog in the crate.

For how expensive this crate is, the manufacturer needs to do a redesign of that lock, because it is definitely not worth the price.

Did NOT come in a box. Held together with two cable ties. Big shipping labels are stuck all over the outside if it. They are not coming off easily. It was delivered it in a snow bank NOT near my front door.

It is scuffed and gouged in a few areas inside and out. I found two black pieces of plastic broken off inside of it. One of the holes edges where a bolt is supposed to go through had the entire edge crushed off.

I guess I expected MUCH better quality for what I paid. It’s not 40”. It barely has any more room than my old 36” that I am using for one of my other dogs right now. They look the same size sitting next to each other, but my old one is much sturdier.

IMO, if a dog wanted out, it would have no problem escaping it. Sorry- but this is an honest review.

This is a pretty good kennel for the price. Holds my 65 lb dog and she has enough room to move around. I didn’t bother installing the roof because I’m going to build a roof for it. The only complaints I have so far is that the bolts that connect each panel together are tough to tighten properly and the kennel can easily be moved by my dog.

I’m using this kennel indoors so I’ll probably just anchor it to the wall to give it better stability.

Not happy! The cover is this cheap silver material and the kennel is low quality and cane with nothing to secure it, which I would have to pirchase separately. There is no way this kennel would be secure enough to keep my larger dog inside.

He could knock it over on his own.

Easy to put together. took my wife and I about 45 minutes together. Our dogs are quite comfortable going in and out of it on their own. Very sturdy. Ordered it Wednesday it arrived on Friday 2 days later.

I bought this crate because I was honestly too lazy to build another for my dogs. The look is clean and I like that it is tall enough for my dogs to not have to hunch over if sitting and looking out.

It was also easy to assemble if you have basic build knowledge/ screw driver experience but there are a couple poor design qualities: 1) The designers supplied two latches to be installed INSIDE the crate living space for one door to be able to latch closed to the frame.

Yes, this is essential but my dogs like to dig and fluff and get comfy and my pit has very easily scratched skin. There is no doubt my dogs would eventually get scratched on the cheap metal latches supplied.

That paired with the fact that I don’t have time to reach into the crate while my dog is attempting to exit out of one side of the door. They’re too big and will need both doors open to exit. I will be altering this design to latch on the outside.

2) The actual door latch. Being placed in the middle of two hinged doors makes a weak attachment and the latch to secure your dog in the crate should attach to the crate frame to be secure. This ties into the above issue but again, I will be altering to make it more secure.

If you have little dogs that can’t put much weight against the door, you’re fine. But with medium sized dogs, I’d rather not risk getting the particle board split on accident if my dog leans her fat butt against the door.

3) Its particle board. So price is a little high just for that. 4) the door handles are fragile. Will be replacing. A few easy alterations to secure the doors and I’ll be perfectly happy with this crate.

The large is good more medium sized dogs. I have a 25lbs border collie mix that it is perfect for and my fat 50lbs pit will be able to use it as well since she likes to curl up. Also, for those asking about where the pee goes… this is a dog crate for house trained dogs and is not meant for a dog to live and potty in.

The removable tray is there and easily slides in and out in case of an accident but hopefully you’re able to let your dog out to go potty before an accident happens.

Bought this Kennel after researching and comparing many kennels. After emailing about the grating (which is metal) I made the decision to purchase the smaller one with high hopes. It took about 2/3 hours to assemble.

First time using it our new 27lb 8 month terrier mix managed to escape. Realized if they paw at the door, the lock slides completely out very easily. So started zip tying it closed and was fine for a day or two.

After that she completely ripped out the grating on one of the doors. Realizing the metal is super thin, like chicken wire, maybe thinner. (she had no cuts or scrapes and she isn’t a chewer, so it seemed like she used her nose to push it out) We fixed it and the next time she was in there we were gone for an hour and she basically took the bottom of the door off.

The whole bottom piece completely broke off from the side pieces. After seeing it broken, realized it’s more of that cheap filler type wood and looks like it just detached easily from the other pieces.

It is beautiful but did not work for us.

Absolutely love these crates! I bought two for my two collie mixes. They look very elegant and only took about an hour each to assemble by myself. Instructions are easy to follow but I recommend following the other reviewer’s advice about assembling the top first instead of the bottom (unless you are a tiny person that can reach inside the crate to screw in the final screws).

True to dimensions. The mattress that comes with the crate is okay. Very soft material but too firm in my opinion. We already have better pillows so we just replaced them. I wouldn’t recommend these crates if your dog is kennel training or has limited crate training.

This is definitely a crate for dogs who are content in their crate. It’s not that they’re flimsy, but I could see a dog doing some damage easily to it.

My GSD pup is crate trained. I purchased my first PetMate plastic crate in 2004 and never had an issue. When my GSD got too big for his wire kennel, I upgraded the size and got a PetMate Ultra (for its airline approved status).

For three solid nights and any day time crate use highly distressed my dog. No one in the house slept. He was quite agitated (barking, clawing at the crate bottom, etc). He could not sleep or lay down in the crate.

On the fourth night, I put him in the crate with the same result. Ten minutes later, I took out the old 2004 crate (flat bottom, no injection mold markers) and popped him in it. He sat down and gave the biggest sigh.

I finally understood he had been in distress because of the new crate. On inspection, I discovered these round things under the bottom, pressed into them with my forearms and immediately felt the pressure points/pain.

Who thought this design was a good idea? Did PetMate even try it? I beg designers to sit in it, lie down in it, press their forearms on to these circle things. Question your motives. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a cheap excuse and terrible quality.

I’ll be cross-posting this comment on multiple pet store sites. I’m so unimpressed with this design. The incredible distress my dog endured because of shoddy design is unacceptable. PetMate needs to do better for the pets you aim to help.

PetMax shouldn’t sell this product; they should ensure the pets they serve do not experience stress or injury.

I needed to take my dog to Europe via plane and he is too big to fit under a seat, so he had to travel cargo. I was really worried about him being separated from us, so I put some blankets in the bottom of the crate, with the lid and door off, and got him used to the crate by feeding him in it and using it in place of his normal dog bed.

This seemed to really do the trick as he was comfortable in it before we dropped him at cargo checkin and seemed to regard it as his den. Good construction for the price and was accepted by Lufthansa no problem.

Chewy ships super fast which was great too. NB: if shipping a pet overseas start researching requirements at least 6 months in advance as all countries have different requirements. Check the USDA site to see what those are.

I assembled following the directions and the door doesn’t close. The door latch, or pin doesn’t retract far enough when the dial is turned to the open position and won’t allow the door to close properly.

If forced, it will close, but the latch then hits the nut beside the door used to keep the top and bottom of the crate connected. And the top pin doesn’t seat properly in the hole on the top of the crate requiring you either bend the door or stretch the plastic.

Then, good luck getting it open. Also requires two hands to unlock the dial latch while turning simultaneously. What was wrong with the old pinch from the top/bottom style door latch? Poor design, pieces are manufactured separately and don’t fit together when shipped.

Terrible.

#ReceivedFreeProduct I am absolutely blown away by the look, feel, and function of this crate. I was not expecting such a stylish finish on an item like this. The dark gray hammer-finish coating on the crated steel is magnificent.

It looks very high quality. The rust resistant, scuff and scratch proof quality is definitely a needed benefit. Out the box, it’s quite easy to put together as it it is already folded in a manner that makes it easy to configure each side upright.

With only 12 screws to go from folded to assembled, it was a breeze to setup. The screw holes were easy to find, and the screws were the perfect size to handle. Once installed, the create feels secure.

The last step in installation is putting on the wheels. They simply screw on so there’re not much to us. Once fully assemble, you really get to see all the useful features it has. There an easy lock hatch on the top of the crate that you can open to access the create from above.

There’s a removable, slide-out tray underneath that will really make cleaning it quick and easy. The tray also has two locks to keep it from sliding out. I love that. Another useful feature are the wheels for they have foot brakes so you can move it around and then lock it safely in place.

The wheels feel strong and have a rubber tire that makes it easy to maneuver and to help keep the crate in place once the wheels are locked without scratching my floors. The main access door for my dog is has two locks on it which I good because that’s two layers of security to keep my dog safe and securely confined.

They are Barrel Bolt style locks that are easy to use while still being secure.

#ReceivedFreeProduct This is a very well-made crate. The wire is very sturdy and well painted. I like that the extra-large size allows my dog to stretch out and move around easily. She is 70 pounds, but has long legs, so when choosing a crate size don’t go by a weight chart alone.

Take the height and length of your dog into consideration also. I followed the instructions and assembly was very easy. Be sure that all of the U-shaped hooks are positioned correctly, and you won’t have any problems.

be careful with this step or you might get your fingers pinched. There are doors on two sides of the crate. The door on the short end of the crate takes two hands to close securely. I really like the double sliding doors on the long side of the crate.

It works smoothy and you can leave the crate doors open (my dog like to chill in her crate once in a while) and not have swinging doors in the way. The doors slide in a channel and lock securely when closed.

A plastic floor pan is included to protect your floor against spills. A crate mat is also included. It’s pretty firm and the cover is removeable for washing. The carrying handle is repositionable and can be moved to make moving the unassembled crate easier.

The instructions have crate training tips and some commonsense cautions. If you are a new pet parent or have never used a crate for your pet, I would highly recommend reading their advice.

I can not say enough about this crate. It is seriously a strong well constructed crate. It is huge. I purchased for my Grand dog pit pull that was coming to live with me. Oh is he wild and strong. I have another dogs and many cats.

I used this for my sleep time and naps, so the rest of the household would be safe. He had quite an adjustment coming to live with us. I have now changed over to a size smaller crate. I could not even move around my bedroom with this crate and it is so large, when he gets something he is not supposed to have he would run into his crate with it and it is so deep I couldn’t reach him to take it away.

He is a handful, but also a treasure. I highly recommend this crate as I am just stunned at the quality after a lifetime of having different size and brand crates over the decades for different situations.

I have never kept one up very long as I prefer training and then putting crate away or taking it apart and making house extension enclosures or our many cats, so they can safely get fresh air and watch the birds.

However, this dog is a handful and crate he is in now will be up for him to sleep in for time being. I will suggest you put it on a mat, so that dogs with separation anxiety don’t move it across the room like mine did.

Ive had this kennel for a couple of months. I initially bought it in case my older dog needed to come home on IV fluids that I would be able to contain him and keep him home rather stay overnight at my vets office.

I never used the door much, I just left the door open for him to lay in there as he please. He has now since passed and I have a new puppy. The door locks are hard to latch and unlatch. I have t figured out what makes it so hard, and at other times very easy to open and close.

The cage design is also pretty flimsy. I couldnt imagine having a large breed animal that would be a cage chewer or digger. I feel like the bars could be easily bent. I guess I should have paid a bit more money for a higher quality kennel.

At this time, yes, it is working for the purpose that I purchased it for. Would I recommend it? It depends, if you are going to have a high strung, cage chewer in there then I would say go for a more expensive option.

Don’t listen to anyone talking down on Ruffland, (formerly known as ruff tuff). I’ve seen these come out of a totaled car unscathed. One review said his dog broke the plastic door, for one that’s partially his fault for not teaching his dog to leave the door alone, Ruffland also makes attachable metal plates that go on the interior of the door specifically because of dogs with this kind of issue.

Ive never seen a dog break out of one of these kennels, or break a door. The doors are also sold separately anyways, and agin if your dog has a problem trying to break the front door then you need to get the metal plate for it.

I train dogs professionally and these are the only crates I will ever spend my money on. The only things better than a Ruffland kennel would be a Gorilla Kennel or an Impact Crate. Both of which are most expensive and not at all easily transportable.

Another review had an issue with drainage. There’s a hole(s) on the top of the back of the kennel. All you have to do is turn the kennel on its back with the entrance facing the sky, spray it out with water and sanitizer, which will drain out of those holes, tilting it forward to run the water toward the hole will make it drain faster.

The holes are designed to be where they are so that water, accidents, messes, etc will be maintained in the crate instead of getting everywhere in your house/car, that’s also why they’re made from one mold.

There’s no crevices for dirt, feces, urine, etc. to get into, just one mold and a door. These are the most convenient kennels you can get, I think almost any other pet professional would agree. I do think they’re more expensive than they should be, but unfortunately Ruffland doesn’t have a competitor that makes anything like it.

Ordered a Kennel it was super excited this is my first experience with them. I ordered their black diamond addition, For every day travel use and for traveling back-and-forth a dog shows. Was told that I would receive the kennel 45 to 60 days after order due to it being a limited edition and being in production.

After not receiving it I reached out to them after hearing that they were having production issues with the glitter, And customers being unsatisfied. The company did confirm it and said that I would be hopefully receiving it shortly after they work out there kinks.

After not receiving it for 80 days I reached out to the company I was told it would be another two weeks, and the following day I received a tracking information. When I receive my kennel it was nothing like the advertisement I received it a faded gray kettle that look dusty which turned out to be the finish.

With little to no sparkle. One of my coworkers purchased the same kennel and hers looked nothing like this and contained more sparkle and the finish was not dull. What I ordered based on the advertisement and what I received were completely two different items completely I ordered a black diamond kennel and I got their granite colored kennel with no sparkles.

Very dissatisfied I reached out to the company, and was told that no two of their kennels were alike, and I’m still waiting on a further response.

My older dog has developed severe anxiety when left alone, and even in the evenings when I am home. She broke out of her metal crate and has tried to hide in various areas of our home. After researching kennels, I was fortunate to find the large size in stock at Cabela’s.

I did have to purchase handles separately and chose to order a metal plate that covers the inside of the door (online elsewhere). The metal might not have been necessary but I wanted to make sure she couldn’t escape.

The extras added to the cost but, for me, it was worth the peace of mind. My dog really seems to like the new kennel as it is more “cave-like” and I think she feels safe and secure in it, and often goes in on her own.

I’m also glad it is made in the USA. Definitely recommend.

This is an unbelievably awesome product and I’ve had it in the middle of my family room for about two weeks to let my dogs get used to it and then put it inside my car so they just jump without any fear.

I looked at other crates that were very expensive for high anxiety dogs and this one actually makes my dog comfortable. I don’t know if it’s the color or the size on the inside but she’s not trying to get out and even if she did the door is solid! This is a good size crate on the inside for a dog that has high anxiety and I need to keep her in there for a few hours a day during a trip! Thank you!! I have looked all over for the perfect crates from my dogs. I have a German Shepard and a Belgian Malinois and a Chevy Suburban. We often foster but had a cage behind the rear seats to keep them in the back.

Well. the cage didn’t keep the fosters from chewing my seat strap or seat belt, or my Belgian from licking the window or plastic molding in the back due to her anxiety or to ANY of them from being tossed around during the ride.

So we wanted crates and found these that fit perfectly in our suburban with the rear seats up. Also big enough to hold my two girls and keep them safe or any foster. The best though is they were even cheaper than the factory store.

The factory store wants 10% more and about $200 in shipping for 2. The large size kennels are too big for the rear seat to be up in a suburban but intermediate fits great with even a little room to store their stuff (ie food, water).

The crates offer pre-molded screw holes to attach accessories to the kennel or to one another. Just all around perfect fit for us and at a great value!.

We have tried many Kennels/Crates for our dog, she suffers from Anxiety and nothing has kept her as safe as this kennel. Any metal kennel, regardless of how indestructible it has advertised to be, we have come home to a scraped up bleeding dog that is out in the house and destroying things.

She is a pitbull and she chews through anything. The kennels that are plastic with the metal grates on the side she chews on the door and breaks the metal on the sides and at this point has ruined her teeth.

We have put her in the Ruff Land Performance kennel twice, once for two hours, great success and once for an entire day. She was calmer, and no blood or destruction to the crate. Wish I had seen this crate 9 years ago.

Another feature we like is that it has a flat floor, rather than one that is either metal grating or has a few round circles protruding to allow stacking of kennels. We are amazed and so thankful to have this crate.

I would recommend this crate to any dog owner. I can’t say enough good about it.

This kennel is absolutely perfect for our after hours emergency drop off kennel at our local animal shelter! We have a dog house and bowls of water on both sides to allow for citizens to leave animals they find as strays after business hours.

This was easy to assemble, no instructions necessary. We love the design that allowed two separate dogs to be left safely at once. We previously had a single chain link kennel, but some dogs could climb up and over the chain link.

The vertical bars prevent climbing! Great quality, great design for temporarily housing dogs outdoors. I highly recommend this!.

I bought this through TSC. It arrived more than two WEEKS after the estimated arrival date. I understand this is due to the current quarantine, but it can’t be that hard to change the website info to reflect reality.

We picked up the kennel from the local store because home delivery was not an option. We got it to my house, unloaded the panels, and discovered one panel had damage. It had a bar twisted and broken away from the weld, and it had been that way long enough for rust to begin forming in the sheared patch, so SOMEONE should have noticed before handing it over.

I needed this kennel RIGHT NOW because I am still living in an RV due to Hurricane Michael, and my 75-pound dog has to stay contained. If the kennel isn’t functional, he has to be in the un-air conditioned RV.

In direct sunlight. In Florida. I ordered the thing a month ago, and still can’t have the use of it. But there has been no offer to replace the panel, refund the cost, or expedite the situation. Don’t buy anything, AT ALL, from any California companies right now.

They can’t even open for emergency repairs.

We bought this because bobcats are eating many pets in our neighborhood, and we have three small dogs. Apparently the bobcat are so fast they will jump your fence, grab the dog or cat, and jump back over the fence before you even have time to process what happened, and it’s left many very sad let owners, many of whom were standing right there just to see their precious one taken for food.

So this cage definitely does the job. Very sturdy, and heavy. I bought the predator roof to put on top to keep out the bobcats. The only complaint is the roof didn’t cover quite well enough, leaving a gap big enough for a bobcat to fit into.

We easily remedied that by tightly securing a large fence picket into that space with rope. Problem solved but it would have been nice if we hadn’t had to go to the trouble. Cage was very easy to assemble, and we are not handy.

I highly recommend for safety of dogs. Very little dogs (ours are about 10 lbs) will be able to squeeze between the bars, but ours cannot.

We bought this as a flexible option for crating our ESS puppy. We already had the slightly smaller version (from an earlier, smaller dog), so knew how brilliant these cages are. Our puppy loves her crate, and jumps in regularly for a snooze.

These cages are well built, and very easy to move around – we had to squeeze ours through a narrow space recently, so took the tray out and folded it half way in so that we could wheel it through. The locking wheels are a good feature for use on a hard floor.

All in all, we are delighted with our purchase, and would heartily recommend this item.

Bought for our first puppy. Easy to build, our 13 yr old daughter did it on her own. Wheels make it super easy to manoeuvre, and our puppy is very happy hanging out inside. Only criticism is that the tray is slightly smaller that the frame and our pup kept getting his legs caught in the gap.

We rectified with some pipe to fill approx 2″ gap. The crate is also quite raised from the ground and took our pup a couple of days to get used to climbing in and out. But the elevation means it’s less draughty when he’s sleeping, so overall I think it’s a good feature.

Being able to access him from the top of the crate is also useful as we have a play pen attached at the front. Will easily serve him into adult Whippit-hood.

First off I purchased a 45´´ Crate it’s not it 42´´s…. Secondly, quality control doesn’t exist!! The locking system is improperly aligned from the door to the frame…. So all my German Shepherd has to do is push on the door to flip the drop bar.

This is exactly what I wanted. It was easy to put together. I have 5 small dogs and they all have plenty of room. I use it for short periods of time when they need to be contained.

The first one came in the box was destroyed. Every section was scratched and most of them bent. The second one was better but a lot of scratches. I was able to put together one good kennel but I still have to paint it because if all the scratches.

It will all rust if I dont. The communication was poor. Its also on the small side.

Love it. It was I little shorter than the one I already have. But it does fit to gether to give them a little more room to roam. I found one at a garage. I live in a hurricane area so if I have to leave I have some place to keep my animals in with there kennels.

I was satisfied with the quality of the product and the ease of assembly, however I was unhappy to see that many of the fittings (nuts and bolts) had become dislodged and lost (via tears in the packaging) during shipping.

I had to purchase nuts and bolts to complete the assembly. I assembled the kennel as a “U” shape with one side attached to my house, if I had assembled it as a four sided unit I would not have had enough connectors and bolts/nuts to complete the job.

I would recommend that the connectors, nuts and bolts be packaged separately and securely, not loosly attached to the panels for shipping.

I bought this kennel as an early birthday present for my dog Nova who actually turns 7 today 🥰 and she loves it. It took about an hour and change for my sister and i to put it together. We didn’t need any tools.

all the pieces and parts were easy to figure out. I am a renter and have a very small patio and this fits perfectly in the space I have with room for me to have a chair beside it. nova weighs 70 pounds and her litter mate (the dog on the left with the claws lol) also weighs about the same and you can see both of them put their body weight against the side and the kennel didn’t move at all.

It is very sturdy and well made for the price. I highly highly recommend this kennel so far. I will update in the future if anything breaks or rusts but for now I am giving this a 10/10 for bully breeds especially.

My dog is very strong and isn’t used to being in a kennel as she has never had one as an adult. but I wanted her to be able to hang out with me while I am in my garden and not have to worry about anything happening to her (other dogs or kids walking by getting her riled up) great price easy to put together.

Easy to assemble, sturdy and absolutely does the job. It fits a small dog bed, water bowl, small toys and puppy pads in it. It’s not super large, there isn’t enough room in there for my 9 week old to run around and play.

But big enough for her to stretch her legs and will be big enough for her to fit comfortable when she is a full grown Rotty. I wish the top covers came in different colors or at least solid black. I would love pink because I’m female and so is my pup, plus the top is ugly in my opinion but that is only a small aesthetic issue.

This cage is small enough to fit in my 900sqft apartment. Sometimes my girl makes such a mess that I have to flip the whole cage on it’s side and clean the area, it’s light enough to do so, but not so light that its weak.

I do love this product and for the money, I am very happy with my purchase and my pup is also very happy with her new giant walk in cage/ house, verses her very small (large) kennel. It’s not a cheaply made product.

On a side note, if you don’t want to flip the cage over and clean it, you will be bending over to reach in, the door way is for dogs, not humans.

I bought this crate a few weeks before picking up my new puppy as it was recommended by our dog trainer and has many positive reviews. I’m sorry to say it did not live up to expectations and had to be sent back.

The crate was difficult to put up and did not pop up as it should due to the clips being caught under the side panel. Once we got that sorted out and assembled with the help of a store assistant we found the side door was out of line and there was a gap of about an inch at the top.

My biggest issue was the fact that all the catches were sharp and had not been finished off and there were gaps on the hinges and bolts where they had not been welded together. It just seemed to be badly finished as if it had been made in a hurry and not been given quality checks.

Staff in store were very helpful and opened up and assembled another of these crates but that one was no better and had the same issues with sharp, unfinished hinges and catches. I’m really disappointed in the quality for the price and have now had to look for an alternative elsewhere.

From the many good reviews online perhaps I was just unlucky and this is a recent issue with a batch but if you are buying one I would check the finishes when you assemble it. I had a few cuts and nicks in my hands from it so I would worry about putting my pup inside.

This is the first dog crate I’ve bought and we got it for our new Labrador puppy. We chose it because it has the divider so you can start out only using part of it when the dog is small. It’s hard to find a crate that includes this useful item.

This crate is sturdy and well put together, it has a front door and side door and the catches slide across easily. We put blankets on ours to make our puppy feel secure and he is getting on with it very well.

I would highly recommend this crate!.

I bought the extra large wire kennel from tractor supply. At some point while we were gone, a wire came loose from its weld and stuck through our GSD’s front paw. It entered about a inch above his nail and went completely through.

We came home and heard him yelping from the driveway. He would let us touch his paw to try to get it out. I don’t know how long he was stuck there. I had to cut the wire (bar) above his paw and pull it the rest of the way through.

Great Purchase! I bought 2, one for each of my Rottis and they both loved it. I got the large size and it’s got plenty of room for a large dog; both my Rottis are fully grown. As for the construction, everything is a snap-on so it was very easy to put together.

Less than 5 minutes to build is not an exaggeration. It took 1 minute to figure out and less than 2 minutes to put together.

I liked the size, color and the over all look of the dog house. However if you are looking for a durable out in the yard dog house, this one is not for you. Fortunately I bought it for the porch. I also insulated it.

It came with a broken piece, but I was able to make it work. It is light weight.

I love this kennel as i can put it in my car long ways or cross ways and I can get the door open because it has two doors. My only complaint is it is tedious and time consuming to put together. Also they could have installed the window grate and it would still ship disassembled, it took all the strength I had to finesse the grate into the crate wall.

I am a fairly strong woman. That and the fact that you cannot carry the crate by the handle once the dog is in it as it won’t support it. But, for the price it is a great crate. I would have taken half a star off for the afore mentioned reasons if that was an option.

Solid kennel that has performed well for the last 2 weeks. Assembly was easy. All 13 holes on the top aligned with the holes on the bottom perfectly to secure with the supplied bolts/nuts. Doors work as they should.

I am very happy with this crate’s features and sturdiness. I have a Cardigan Corgi and needed the length this crate provides so she would be comfortable. She can stretch out, sit up and turn around if desired.

The 2 door system is perfect for my smaller SUV, allowing her easy entrance/exit no matter where I place her crate plus the doors enhance the ventilation. This was easy for one person to put together.

Although shipping was expensive I am so pleased with this purchase and it’s quick arrival that I will overlook this cost. It’s a pleasure to recommend this crate and company!.

instructions are not great. I found a video online instead. Instructions say to hand tighten, but this will not work for larger dogs. when larger dogs jump on the pen it loosens the brackets, which then slide to the bottom of the cage.

Even after really tightening the brackets that secure the panels together, they still become loose after just a few days. I am going to try to come up with something to help keep this from happening, but I shouldn’t have to.

I have two German Shepherd in this pen to kennel them inside the house. One is 2 years old and medium sized for her breed. The other one is a 4 month old puppy. I have read that the canopy is crap for outside weather but I use this pen inside.

I wouldn’t even try using the canopy outside here as the winds are very strong and I lost a large picnic table when it was blown away. All in all, it works for my purpose to kennel train into holding their urine longer which is why it didn’t get 1 star.

It probably works perfectly for very small dogs, but any weight from a medium to large size dog on the panels will cause the brackets to loosen quickly. You will need to check the wing nuts on the connector brackets daily for medium to large sized dogs! I would recommend this item only for very small dogs.

I would also recommend adding a dig proof mesh at the bottom if your dog is a digger and you plan to use this pen outside. If I ever figure out how to keep the panels from becoming loose from the wing nuts unscrewing and possibly being a dangerous situation, then I might give this pen better rating.

I believe in brutal honesty and you have my honest review before considering a purchase. I think there are sturdier pens out there for medium to large breed dogs, consider finding one even if it costs more money.

Got this for a large dog to recover from surgery. Not as strong as a large welded wire portable kennel. It does allow more room to stretch out than the large portable kennel. If your animal needs room to move around, this may be a good kennel.

Not super sturdy. Walls will moved out since they are connected with brackets (two each panel). May not be escape proof. No attached floor. Fitted tarp cover is nice. There are no cheap kennels out there.

This one was priced okay and shipped free to my door. It was packaged well.

This is a great kennel for our German Shorthairs for when we are gone during the day, but my German Shepherd has chewed through the door wire and escaped. It worked for a short while for her, but now it’s toast.

Trying to get a replacement door and salvage the rest of the cage for the Shorthairs. The shepherd is going to need something much stronger. We screwed two sides of this to our garage wall to prevent the big dog from tipping it over.

Okay, so I purchased a Tarter Elite Dog Kennel online (customer pickup) from Rural King. In a few weeks it arrived and other than one of the clamps being bent beyond use, everything else was nice and of good quality.

Rather than complain about the bent clamp I just ordered an new clamp set (2 pieces) because I also planned to order the Tarter Sun Shade to give my dogs some much needed shade. I had also planned on possibly purchasing an additional TEDK and figured the extra clamps might come in handy.

I placed my online order on July 4th, 2020. I canceled my order today, September 9th, 2020 after much frustration in receiving my order. My advice is to save yourself a lot of aggravation and just purchase the same kennel thru Tractor Supply.

I do plan to purchase another Tarter Elite Dog Kennel, but I’ll do it via Tractor Supply. I’m EXTREMELY disappointed in the entire experience with RK, to say the very least!.

This powder coated kennel is virtually indestructible. There is no way a dog or even a person is going to knock over these heavy sturdy panels. Do be aware that they have to order these special, and the crew that delivers them will drop them and scratch them and dent them and compromise the powder coating.

They even did more damage while loading this into my truck when I picked it up. But they knocked $100 off for me to suck it up and take it, and honestly I see this thing outliving me, easily. Worth every penny.

Fantastic pen for our German Shepherd. very high quality and strong. Well made, heavy guage and great welds. Love the paint/finish as well. I wanted a 10′ wide by 20′ deep pen, so we bought 2, so now I’ve got 2 doors, one in front and another in the right rear corner.

I went back to Tractor Supply and bought a few more of the attachment pieces and we mounted the 2 remaining panels on the inside middle of each side which made the 2 longer sidewalls rigid so they don’t bend in the middle.

Sits very well on our 11′ by 21′ concrete pad.
