20 Best Joint Vitamins For Dogs (2023 Updated)

The dasuquin large dog chews are now smaller and much harder than the original chews. They claimed the originals were a soft chew, but they were very hard , and now the new chew is so very hard you can barely break it up.

I must grind it into a coffee type ground and mix with my dogs food because he does not like them at all. So I try and hide it in his food along with a bit of meat in his morning meal , he gets 2 ground up chews every day.

It was hard to grind the original chews between your fingers, but these new smaller chews are HARD , very HARD. Why can’t the company truly make a SOFT chew, a chew that you can squeeze between your thumb and index fingers.

It is ridiculous to call them a soft chew. And I am going to ask my vet for a different medicine, my dog takes pills much better than he does these awful chews. I did manage with the original large dog chews, it was hard , but I tried every morning to do it.

But these new supposedly soft chews are so hard you can tap them on the table and they sound like a coin tapping the table , ridiculous, was the change necessary, a simple chore was hard already, but now that simple chore is impossible for me.

I might try and put them in the food processor and sprinkle 2 teaspoons into his morning food. Please go back to the old formula, even though they were hard also.

My 7 year old Jack Russell terrier mix had been on Dasuquin Advanced from his veterinarian since he was having some mobility issues – some limping and hip pain. She said that after he finished the prescription Dasuquin Advanced ($90), it would be fine to put him on an over-the-counter supplement.

He did the 6 weeks everyday of Dasuquin Advanced and then every other day for maintenance until he was out. When I was researching what over-the-counter supplement would be good, I came across an article by a veterinarian that went over the ingredients you want and which supplements provide it in an effective form.

The article mentioned the Dasuquin MSM. MSM helps with inflammation, so I thought that would be good if there is some arthritis starting in his joints. We just stuck to the every other day for maintenance and didn’t start over with the 6-8 weeks everyday since he has been moving fine.

He’s been on the Dasaquin MSM for about 2 weeks. His movement is good. He isn’t as stiff when he first gets up. I had told my vet my dog is picky about taste and it has to be chicken flavored since I’ve tried beef and salmon supplements before.

She had found that Dasquin was chicken. My dog eats them. He doesn’t see them as a treat so I don’t just feed it to him. I leave it on a plate and break it up for him along with other treats and he eats it when he feels like it.

He eats it. He never leaves it completely. Taste is good and he’s moving great- so highly recommend.

I had 2 labs that were put on some expensive medication by our vet at age 13, they were 1 year apart. By age 14 each they could no longer stand so they had to be put asleep. Now my mixed beagle/terrier at age 10 started limping real bad and he could always run very fast and jump very high at only 25 lbs.

In 3 days back on the medicine and next time off medicine for a week then limped for a few days and able to stop medicine again.

He hasn’t limped sense and that’s been a couple of months now. He’s able to do everything he always did before and you can tell he’s also happy again along with me. I don’t think he would have healed without this medicine.

I’m a 67 widower and I’m sure these are the last 2 dogs I’ll have, I’m so thankful that he’s okay.

This product is my absolute favorite! We have an 11 year old lab/german shepherd mix and, for obvious reasons, has always needed hip/joint support. She is large. We used this product for a while and then stopped and when she started to have visible issues, we came right back and I can attest to the visible difference in her mobility.

I’ve been using connectin for years. My dog (older pittie) has (new) arthritis in one leg and a metal plate on the other knee (TPLO surgery from 8 years ago). I can tell that when she’s not on this supplement she limps more and is obviously experiencing more pain.

When she’s on the supplement regularly she lips considerably less. It works! I’ve had nutritionist look at it and they said other than the flavor added to it this is something that humans could even take.

As a dog owner I always look for the best quality in food and in snacks for my dog. I was familiar with the Greenies name since my dog loves their chews. There are a lot of dog treats out there and I didn’t want to be just giving him a treat that was just giving him a lot of calories with no benefits.

These Greenie Skin & Coat supplements are the answer. They are a chicken flavor soft traet. The size is about the size of the top of your thumb. They are very soft and you can break them up if your dog is a bit small or tends to gulp his treats.

They are made to help support health skin and coat on your pet. It says that they contain omega 3 and fish oil. I’m not sure about pets but I do know that these oils are recommended for healthy hearts in humans.

I have been giving my dog one of these every day for the last two weeks and he loves them. They are chicken flavor and do contain real chicken in them. Knowing that I’m keeping him happy as well as healthy is a good feeling.

Also the fact that they are made in the USA ,made with quality ingredients , by a well respected company. I highly recommend this item to any dog lover who only wants the best for their dog.

Our chihuahua is a bit hesitant with these chews that benefit his coat and supports healthy skin. They are really too large for him & he won’t touch them until I tear them to bits, which is easy to do, then he gobbles up the pieces once they are sized for him.

After giving him these chews for a week it’s hard to tell if there is a big difference in his skin or coat, but maybe he is scratching less?? I like that there are no artificial colors, flavors, preservatives and no fillers added.

The zip lock on the bag is a plus. The down side is that the chews have a greasy feel to them and smell very strongly. After handling them my hands smell quite bad. However, when broken into the right size for him, our small dog likes them so it is a small price to pay.

I would buy these treats but wish they just came in a smaller size more appropriate to our small dog.

My dog’s name is Sabbath. She’s an eight year old Rottweiler, that wandered into a church parking lot, on a Sunday, more than six years ago. The congregation named her Sabbath and fed and watered her for weeks, before finding a foster mom, who later found me! She was young, but already had puppies and had only one eye! She’s been my heart and soul for six years.

I refer to her as ‘The Holy Rottweiler’! Anyway, last year, she developed eyelid tumors and was in a cone for a month. Four days after removing the cone, she came down with Addison’s disease, (a disease of the adrenal gland).

She almost died! These last couple of months, I noticed her back legs and hips, beginning to weaken. She was wobbly and had difficulty getting up and so forth. Hip dysplasia is common with Rotties. Just recently, her cortisol levels dropped and her medication had to be increased but that was not the only malady that presented! Her hips and back legs, just finally gave way! She would have to drag herself to the back door, with her front paws.

She couldn’t stand!! So, after a consultation with the vet, I decided to start giving her glucosamine. I did my research of all the ‘mainstream’ brands for humans, anyway, much to my dismay, were products of China! And we only use VetIQ maximum strength hip and Joint chews, because she is a small dog we kept her a half one every other day so a 90 count last us for half a year if not longer if she’s really having trouble with Movement we will give her a whole one every other day.

We order Ours from Amazon and they’ve always come fresh and she tolerates it well she loves the flavor looks forward to her treats. And we only give her Frontline Flea and Tick drops which she tolerates very well.

She takes this maximum strength hip and joint treat for movement. Since giving her this she’s like a puppy again she may need help getting up on the couch sometimes but for the most part she can get up the stairs like a puppy and the heartworm medicine she does well with is called Inceptor you get from a vet.

And the only treats for her teeth, she likes are Dentallife by Purina the spongy ones. If your on the fence, I would recommend trying VetIQ maximum strength hip and Joint chews, Especially if your dog has allergies and or skin issues like my dog has! I wouldn’t recommend any of the other hip and Joint movement because I’ve tried them and there’s a lot of them out there! They’ve cost me a lot of money for vet bills ear infections for skin issues and they have toxic things added.

My lab is 10 years old, we call her our old lady. For the last few years we have noticed she was starting to get a little bit stiff in her joints, and recently she has begun to have trouble jumping down off of our bed.

Our 12 Chaweenie was in significant pain from a patella / Hip injury, and age. She was no longer able to take walks and was putting on weight making her limping worse. I decided to try a joint supplement.

The Cosequin arrived within two days of my ordering it. I’m giving it to my Chihuahua on vet advice to strengthen cartilage in his trachea to improve his cough due to trachea collapse. The label says it may take up to six weeks to see an improvement.

Even though it’s only been about two weeks, his coughs seem a little softer and maybe not quite as often. I do expect the Cosequin to help more as time goes on because a friend who has given it to her Chihuahua for joint pain for about a year says her dog has not had any painful episodes since about a month after he started taking it.

My dog doesn’t like the taste of Cosequin so I crumble it into canned food and he takes it just fine. The dosage is written on the bottle and my vet said to be very careful with giving the correct dose and to give it with food so it doesn’t cause stomach upset.

The vet put him on a combination of Gabapentin and trazodone and bedrest, but after two weeks of very limited walks and weaning him off the prescriptions, the limp returned.

on the other front leg. Two more weeks later, and it wasn’t going away. The vet suggested he could be in the beginning stages of arthritis, but they would need to do x-rays to confirm. However, my friend with an aging dog recommended these, so I figured, why not give them a try? Worked like a charm.

My friend said I may not see improvement for a month, but after just 4 days of these supplements you would never have known he had any limp at all. He’s been off the prescription and on these supplements for about 4 weeks now, and his limp has never returned.

His most recent vet checkup, the vet was ecstatic and said this was one of the least intrusive therapies we could try if it is arthritis anyway. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is seeing reduced mobility in their dog, particularly if it has to do with arthritis.

He is feeling really good and much better than he was 6-8 months ago when we started this. He is able to sit and climb stairs much better than he did a year ago. He takes 1/2 tablet in the mornings. Highly recommend this product.

He is a picky eater but chews these right up.

IšverstiShow in original languageI found out at a year old that my Cocker Spaniel poodle mix has a luxating patella. After reading about how intense the recovery is from surgery I elected to try and avoid surgery and started researching different supplements to try.

This has helped her limp less and helps her to be able to run and play again. My only complaint is that they don’t make this in a non-chicken formula so I could also have my dog with food allergies on it.

Please make a non-poultry version for dogs with food allergies.

Our 9 year old yellow Lab had TPLO surgery to repair a torn CCL back in Feb. , and was having a heck of a time recovering. We took her in for a second set of post surgery X-rays because I was sure she had popped a *****.

We did physical therapy, massage and chiropractic. Those all definitely helped in getting her back to mostly normal, but I would say that the liquid glucosamine pushed her over the edge and made her feel like her younger self again.

We have a 15 1/2 year-old large mixed breed with severe arthritis in all four hips and legs. We have been doing everything we can to keep her as comfortable as possible because her mind is still sharp and she is still enjoying some things in her life.

I got these free as part of a sample program in exchange for my honest review. I began giving them to my two vizslas (4 and 8 years old) on 2/11/22. I wasn’t consistent in the beginning because I wound up sick for two weeks but I haven’t missed a day since.

We noticed big results about two weeks ago around 3/19/22. Our 8yr old dog has had issues with his rear leg for four years and while he still runs like crazy he stopped sitting properly and wasn’t “cornering” like he used to when he ran.

These don’t have too strong of an odor. I don’t notice it. I am VERY happy with the results and I’m so glad we received these to try. We will definitely continue to buy them for our dogs.

How does this product compare to other products you’ve tried? My 6yr old mixed breed dog has had to have both ACL’s repaired. She’s in great shape overall but very active. Even with the repairs, she often comes back from a long walk or playdate limping and stiff, especially after resting for a long period.

The vert has said this will likely always be an issue for her and that she most likely has some arthritis as well. I have given her other joint supplements in the past, and find that, for day-to-day activities, they work fine.

But not after the long walks and playdates. When I received this as a free sample to try, I was a little concerned as I saw that the pills were much smaller than what I’ve been giving her. They looked pretty simple.

But the ingredient list was impressive and so I tried them with her daily for several weeks. Well, let me tell you, the results were impressive! She no longer seems to have the after-play/walk limping that used to plague her.

She often plays with my neighbors much younger and strong dog and has never been happier or felt better. I’m truly amazed at what I’ve seen and will forever purchase this! She has no trouble eating these (I toss them in with her food and she eats them right up).

There’s no stomach upset or any other issues. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to help their pups with joint issues!.

My lab mix had ACL repair surgery at the age of 6. I followed the rehab program on the top dog website and put him on Glycanaid. I cannot say enough good things about this product. At every post op check up, my vet was amazed at his recovery.

He lived to the age of 11-12 and much to the surprise of his veterinary team, never developed arthritis – even in the bad leg. This is the only hip & joint product I will use.

About six months ago my dog was diagnosed with a torn ligament in her back leg. She was in pain and limping. She needed surgery, but the cost was prohibitive. Until I could save for the surgery, she was put on Rimidyl.

This helped slightly. I tried CBD oil, which also helped a little. Finally, after reading reviews about GlycanAid HA, I decided to try it. The first month I didn’t see much difference. Then the second month, a miracle happened, she stopped limping and does not appear to be in pain.

I cannot recommend this product enough. I will continue to use it until she can have her surgery and probable after.

Just dropping you a note to let you know that Kim is doing great on your Glycanaid supplements! The stiffness and weakness in her back legs are almost gone. I would recommend these to anyone whose dog suffers from joint problems, I will be using them on both my dogs now.

My Husky loves the taste of Nupro just sprinkled over his dry kibble or mixed with a little water and stirred into the kibble. He is on a RX for kidney disease and I used to mix the kibble with canned RX food to get him to eat it.

The can food is expensive too! Now I don’t have to use the can food. Nupro is not cheap, but easy to feed. He’s only ben on it for 1 week, so I can’t tell how well it is relieving his arthritis ( he’s 12 ) as he’s also on meds for that too.

It was hard to get the scoop out, as it was so far down in the 5 lb. plastic can!!!! How about putting it on the top of the powder???.

I have 6 small breed rescued dogs that are all seniors. I’ve been using this for all, except one dog for many years. One of my dogs has a very sensitive stomach and can’t use this supplement (I believe it’s a beef and/or liver sensitivity), but the other dogs have no problem at all.

They like the taste and most importantly it really helps! All of my dogs being seniors, 9yrs up to 18yrs (yep, 18 yrs old) have joint issues from age and this really seems to help with joint pain and even joint popping/cracking.

They seem to be able to play more on this supplement too! If I ever run out, I noticed their joints popping more often and after only a couple days of using this product I notice a big difference. I haven’t used this for larger breeds or younger adult dogs, but I imagine it would be great for them too, especially with all the joint issues that come with larger breeds.

FYI, ALL the supplement sizes are the same product but with different sized scoops and dosage instructions based on the scoop size. I believe all the jars except the smallest size come with a larger scoop (supposedly 1oz, but seems to be more IMO) and the dosage instructions are based on the included scoop.

So, if you’re like me and buy a large sized jar for multiple smaller dogs, make sure to check the dosage instructions on the small size jar accurate instructions. Or maybe just contact the company for more accurate dosage instructions.

Also, I’ve had success starting with less than instructed and slowly adding as needed to prevent upset tummies from the diet change.

I bought these for 2 of my cats who have urinary problems. Vet told me glucosamine is good for bladder inflammation as well as joints. Too bad no one would touch them. They are def not for cats, way to hard to give as a treat and no one likes the way they smell.

I crushed them up and sprinkled them in their food, but then they wouldn’t eat their food. I ended up crushing a bunch up in a jar and sprinkling fish flakes in with it. I was able to get them to eat this mixture in their food, although they were not thrilled.

Can’t say I’ve noticed any improvement in the weeks that they have been eating it. I bought a vegetarian glucosamine for my other cat who is allergic to fish and definitely see an improvement in him, so I’ll be switching everyone to that one.

Will definitely not buy this again.

I ended up finding this at a local health food store after my female tabby started displaying seasonal allergy symptoms. I was skeptical, but gave it a try—and wow!! Her symptoms were GREATLY reduced when fed these tablets through the spring and into midsummer.

It’s super easy to mix into her food, too. I just crush them and mix the powder in with her morning can of wet food. She either doesn’t notice or actually enjoys the taste! No hassle and works as advertised.

Absolutely ecstatic when I found these on Chewy! Now, I don’t have to worry about running out this year :).

NOW PETS CARDIOVASCULAR SUPPORT GREAT PRODUCT! My cat, who is 10 years old this July, had a heart murmur a year ago which was rated about a 5. Vet said I should take my cat to have an echocardiogram to see how the heart is & what was causing the murmur.

My cat had the echocardiogram which turned out fine, no medication was given to her from Dr. who performed the echo. I showed him this bottle of NOW Cardiovascular support, he told me to keep her on it as it is recommended by a vet.

He said to come back next year for a recheck. An echocardiogram cost $700. 1 year later I took my cat for her physical, her heart murmur could hardly be heard now. I asked my primary vet if my cat would need another echocardiogram & she said no, the murmur is faint & the report from the Dr.

who did her echocardiogram, said that her heart was fine. Since she’s been on this supplement, she seems to be feeling alot better, she’s frisky now, which I haven’t seen her like that in quite a while.

I got this for my genetic nightmare retired research dog. She has degenerative disc disease and nothing was helping long-term. She is on Galliprant and Diazepam daily but she was still in so much pain she would be shaking/panting/crying probably constantly 4-5 days per week.

We tried a couple of supplements that the vet suggested and she stunk so badly of fish that we discontinued them. We tried this and within probably 3 weeks we noticed a difference. We have had her on it for several months now, and she very rarely has a bad day, and even when she does it’s usually for just a few hours.

I can’t recommend this enough, it has really improved her quality of life. I got the skin and coat formula for my very itchy puppy too, and it’s worked extremely well for him too.

I was told about The Missing Link from a woman that I do Dog Rescue with about a year ago. I have a 13 year old Pointer that suffers from “old age” 🙂 everything on him was starting to hurt when he got up from a laying position, especially in the morning, he wasn’t running around the backyard like he use to.

He was on supplements from the vet to help him. The supplements did help a small amount but I remembered a conversation that I had with my friend a year earlier about The Missing Link and thought “why not try it”.

So about 2 months ago I went to the pet store and bought a bag of it. It took about 1 1/2 weeks to kick in but my dog is getting up in the morning and wanted to go outside and run around the backyard like a young dog again.

I’ve told a few friends about The Missing Link and Chewy, I ordered a 1 lb bag for a friend that owns a farm to get to her farm dogs just a week or so ago and the shipment came to her super fast and today she just posted on Social Media that her 13 year old Shelty met her at the gate when she came home for the first time in years after starting her on The Missing Link.

My previous German Shepherd was born with hip dysplasia. I began giving her this supplement when she was 8 wks old. She died in February from cancer. Prior to her passing, she had to have surgery for that cancer, and she went through much diagnostic testing prior to her surgery.

Her hip dysplasia was virtually unremarkable for her age. She was 8 years old. Her doctors were VERY impressed that the hip dysplasia was in such an unremarkable state, and made certain to let me know.

I believe that Missing Link and a healthy diet of good supplements and food and treats were behind being able to control the progression of the hip dysplasia. I have a new German Shepherd now. Just rescued her.

She has not been checked for hip dyplasia, but she is *special needs*, and is now on Missing Link. Just as my previous furry baby, she will remain on Missing Link for as long as I have her. I believe this product is well worth giving to all pups, no matter whether they have hip dysplasia or not.

it’s just good for them!.

My 14-year-old miniature Australian Shepherd started having seizures and his joints would lockup. He started falling down and he was unable to get up when he was on the ground. He was glued to his dog bed unable to move and we were worried we might have to finally put him down.

And then ProSense glucosamine joint care chews were introduced into his diet and within a week he is a different dog. He is running around the yard playing ball. Even when no one’s in the yard I seen him throwing toys in the air and jumping and spinning around.

I have not seen him like this in at least 5 years. I cannot get over what an improvement just this chew has provided for him. He can’t wait to go on walks, if you walk out in the yard he jumps right out of his bed and runs to you.

He has had no seizures, and no problems since he started on these. They are affordable and the results are truly amazing. I highly highly recommend these if you have a dog with joint problems. I have tried many other products and nothing has worked.

I still cannot believe what an improvement these have provided. So happy to have my best friend back healthy and happy.

5 stars based primarily on palatability at this point. We recently rescued a ~3 year-old lab mix of unknown history. She’s fairly high energy, so we do a LOT of walking over fairly rugged terrain. To the tune of 40-50 miles per week.

She doesn’t seem to be in any discomfort joint-wise, but I’d rather help head off an issue than treat one later. She gets the recommended dose with her kibble daily, and has never left a tablet in her bowl.

Given that she’s a younger dog with mobility issues to speak of I wasn’t expecting a marked difference in her movement, and I haven’t noticed one.

These are amazing! Shortly after getting my pup, our vet recommended getting him on a hip and joint vitamin to help in the long run. I started him on a different brand which was fine, but really expensive.

I saw these on here with great reviews and a great price! I decided to give them a try! My dog loves them! So we definitely found a long term winner. I’m really pleased I was able to find a great product for a great price that my dog likes! It makes it much easier to provide excellent care for him within my budget.

It took me a little extra time to decide whether Zesty Paws calming bites did as they claimed to do. I have 5 fur babies and gave this product to 3 of them on most occasions. On a few occasions the 13-week-old puppies got one as well but not for them to calm down but because they took it out of my hand before I could give it to my bigger puppies.

First opinion on product- Zesty Paws calming bites are the cutest and most wonderful smelling bites. They are shaped like hearts, look like dusted chocolate and smell like peanut butter. My puppies loved them.

I even enjoyed opening the jar because of the fabulous aroma. These as a regular treat without the calming effect would be wonderful as well. I provided Zesty Paws Calming Bites to my 3 dogs- August, Beagle, 13 months- Quinlan, Boxer/lab mix, 7 months- Chewy, Pomeranian, 11 years.

My puppies are very busy and rambunction fur babies who ram and tear all day and sometimes, all night. I gave them each 2 of the calming bites around 7pm and I noticed by around 8pm that they would start to settle down and life would get quiet in our home.

Chewy did not need one as he is a quiet dog as well, but I did not want him to feel left out so he would get a half of a heart shaped bite. The more often I gave them to the puppies, the longer it took for them to work, hence, the longer time in writing my review.

It finally got to where I would give the bites to the puppies between 5 and 6 so I could get them calmed down and settled between 8 and 9 pm. Most nights they slept until my alarm went off at 5 am. and I was very appreciated of this.

I have not tried other products like this before, but I have given the puppies vet prescribed trazodone and I believe that the calming bites worked better once the puppies laid down. They stayed asleep longer with the calming bites.

If you have active puppies or dogs, I do recommend giving these calming bites a try. I will definitely be purchasing them. ***I was given a free sample to try in return for my honest opinion of the product.

Delivery was quick and price was cheaper than directly from Dr Martys. Mercedes has terrible allergys in Spring and summer months. I have great hope this will stop her licking her paws and the white vaseline consistancie discharge from her eyes and her constant scratching in the warmer months.

my chihuahua has been using this product now for a month. every spring she gets itchy feet, seasonal allergies, that I hate to use cortisone to control. while I can’t say the itching is completely gone, it has taken a 10 to a 3.

the only draw back is I have to crush the recommended dose and mix with her food as she wont just eat the tablets. will order again.
