Best Jimmy Eat World Album (2024 Updated)

This JEW’s (Jimmy Eat World) breakthrough CD. “The Middle” was an insanely popular song and it’s easy to see why. It very catchy, but meaningful at the same time. And the rest of the CD is amazing as well.

There are several softer rock songs, but you can really see the tenderness in each of these songs. Also, the singer’s voice has matured since “Clarity” (their previous album), so that is a good thing.

JEW distinguishes themselves from punk/emo and has vaulted themselves into greatness with this CD. Buy it!.

I love this cd. I have owned this cd, well, this will be the 5th time. It has a tendancy to disappear just about everytime someone likes it and asks “hey this is really good, what band is this!?” My advice – download this cd to your player, computer, whatever so at least when it disappears you can still listen to it! lol.

About this Band , I was eating at a Restaurant , and I heard one of their songs , and I liked it , it had a great rythym, immediately after hearing the song , I bought the cd through Ebay and the cd sounded very good , their style is alternative Rock, cd was good but not my favorite Band.

Talk about an album that I can listen to over and over again. It came out during the height of my suburban teenage angst. You know – where your parents just didn’t get it and you thought you could be the next Eddie Van Halen playing the guitar horribly in your friend’s basement.

You were also probably in a band that had two guitars because the bass just wasn’t cool enough too. No? Just me? Anyway – fantastic album and arguably Jimmy Eat World’s best. From the Sweetness to Praise Chorus – you won’t be disappointed.

Check out “Clarity” too. Everyone deserves to listen to “Lucky Denver Mint” as well.

This made my 90s and 00s-crazed 7-year-old super happy! She’s worn out the CD, and is a budding vinyl-lover. I know. Dorky but funny. It’s a kind of cool album that has the song “The Middle” on it, which is likely their biggest hit ever.

This has been one of the albums I’ve been wanting to add to my vinyl collection for quite a while. It does not disappoint. The vinyl transfer is crisp and deep and you can hear everything, even some little nuances that you don’t get on a digital format.

This is a very compact box set of the five Asylum studio albums that launched and established Warren Zevon as a major songwriter, singer and performer. These albums contain most of his greatest songs, but of the remainder, there is hardly a mediocre track, except on “The Envoy” which exhibits the fissures that led Asylum to terminate his contract.

Nevertheless, given Zevon’s very high standards, it is good enough for inclusion in this set. “Stand in the Fire” is a live album and a standout of the genre. The support band, Boulder, propells Zevon beyond his usual boisterous best for a bravura performance.

For anyone interested in Warren Zevon, these albums are essential listening and, in hindsight, a clear indication that he wasn’t done yet.

Didn’t really know a lot about Warren Zevon except I always loved Werewolves of London-after listening to these cd’s I’m disappointed that I never gave him a chance while he was still alive. Very enjoyable and I will now seek out the rest of his outout You won’t go wrong here especially at this price!!.

At this point, I think KISS is close to having as many “Best of” compilations as they do studio albums. Just getting this to have a decent mix of KISS studio cuts on vinyl. I don’t know how the packaging will be for this thing; hopefully not a single sleeve with two jammed in vinyl records like they did with MTV Unplugged (let peeve I have) but will say this album cover art is a bit lame.

Tommy (fake Ace) & Eric (fake Peter) just look odd in the make up. These weren’t the best head shots to use for an album cover–don’t even compare to great KISS album art using photos within them like Dynasty, Creatures of the Night & Crazy Nights.

It also irks me how Eric is on the cover wearing Peter’s make up —while two lead vocal sang songs BETH & HARD LUCK WOMAN are on this album—just pushing along the sad narrative KISS these days are a brand not a band- -Considering Tommy is only featured on guitar on three tracks (Modern Day Delilah, Hell or Hallelujah & at the time him ghost playing on the track Psycho Circus & Eric Singer also just being featured on the drums on four tracks–God Gave Rock and Roll To You II, Unholy, Modern Day Delilah & Hell or Hallelujah).

But then again, Peter is being represented music wise yet no lead Vocal Ace songs are on this record. At least New York Groove should had been added–it was the only single that was a hit from the 78 solo albums.

Set list is surprising with the many 80s hits featured on it, yet Forever, which actually WAS one of their biggest hits isn’t on this “Best of”. Also omitted is a stapled live song I Love it Loud. (It’s even more disappointing that NO songs from the Creatures.

L. P. are on this album, since it’s one of their top albums. ) Other strange occurrences on this album is that NO songs from their first two studio albums aren’t on here. Sure, they’ve been on many of the other KISS compilations, but they still do songs during their performances from these albums.

I’m a huge fan of the four “new” songs from the international only released compilation from 1982: KISS-Killers, but it’s just odd how they threw onto this release “I’m A Legend Tonight” since its a song barely any casual fan would even know–plus it’s not the best one: in my opinion, Down on your Knees or Partners in Crime would had been better choices for this album.

Again, since this is supposed to be a “Best of” Jungle, which was a top ten rock singles charting track from “Carnival of Souls” would had been a better choice. I mean, the album is pretty much a nice even representation of great songs recorded by the band in the 70s & 80s—plus two great tracks from the early 90s REVENGE album, but I think they could had pushed the release to be 26 tracks –to have included Jungle, Forever, I Love It Loud, New York Groove, Deuce & Hotter Than Hell.

Still, my favorite KISS compilations of studio songs are Double Platinum and Smashes, Thrashes & Hits. If any of you want to just add a more in-depth collection of KISS hits, the Millennium Collections VOL.

I, II & III are best bet, too over this current KISS compilation.

I received these 2 LPs for my birthday last year. The sound is greater than expected and certainly deserves to be played loud. However, I have one complaint. Hard Luck Woman. It’s a terrible song featured at the end of their ’76 release, Rock And Roll Over, which sounds like Peter Criss completely ruined his voice the previous night before recording.

If you’re not familiar with the song, I suggest you check it out before purchasing this product. Apart from that, it’s a pretty good value vinyl that’s fun to jam out to. Tears Are Falling will send shivers down the spines of everybody within an earshot and God Gave Rock ‘N’ Roll To You II is a REAL earworm!.

As a kid growing up it was kinda taboo listening to Kiss. All I ever heard was that they were bad. Then as a teen the grunge scene took off and that was all that I listened to. But as I got older and grew in my listening experience of music is discovered Kiss and other 70’s bands.

There were a lot of acts from the 70’s that were great and Kiss topped them all. If you want the hottest band in the land for your vinyl collection you definitely need this album. It has all of the songs that you’ve heard on the radio plus some that I never had heard before.

Every time I listen to this album I find another song that I like.

Very high quality recently discovered recording of Trane’s classic quartet.

This album gets a lot of stick for being pop but in truth only the funkier I was made for lovin you does that job. This album still rocks hard even with drummer Peter Criss playing on only one track and Gene Simmons vocals largely absent.

His Charisma and X-ray Eyes are great but Ace Frehley makes a bigger contribution this time round with the excellent Hard Times and Save Your Love. Best of all is Ace’s take on the Stones classic 2000 Man, a brilliant cover in my opinion.

This album is definitely worth checking out again.

In 1979, disco was starting it’s death roll after a lengthy visit, and talented artists like the Police, The Pretenders, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and the Cars were starting to gather more attention.

KISS, in only 5 short years, went from starving artists to ruling the world with a merchandising frenzy that eclipsed the music they were putting out. They became something completely unique in the industry, and the music seemed only there as a vehicle to make more product to sell.

Because of this, some really good songs seem to get lost in the shuffle of all that is KISS. As a longtime KISS fan, “Dynasty” has long been a guilty pleasure for me. Sure, they were steering away from their original , hard-rockin’ sound, and some of the tunes on here are a little bloated, but there is still some fine songs on here that add to the KISS legacy.

” Sure Know Something” was, and still is, a great pop song that probably deserved more attention than it got. ” I Was Made for Lovin’ You” is as catchy as it comes, and deserved of it’s Top 10 single status, that houses a blistering ( if all too short) guitar solo from Ace when he was at his peak.

Ace gets three tracks on here as a result of his surprisingly effective solo album the year before. and they’re all great. The Stones “2,000 Man” belongs to Ace Frehley now and he pays it proper respect while making it all his own, which is what a great cover should be.

Gene Simmons only gets two tracks on here, but they are both fun, standard “Demon” fare. “Charisma” sounds a little more ridiculous in content now than it did then to me, but there is no denying the sing-song chorus will stick in your head long after it’s done playing.

The only dud on here is Peter Criss’ “Dirty Livin'”. I was never a big fan of Peter Criss as a songwriter, and his drumming at this point was so poor that he was barely used on the album. He drummed on his own track , of course, but it added nothing to what probably wasn’t a very good song out of the chute.

All in all, a fine and timely effort from a band who has weathered through many different genres of popular music over their 40 years and managed to stay pertinent. Recommended.

I have heard so many negative reviews about Dynasty that I feel it is time for a positive one. This one is not as bad as some may say. Obviously it is not their best album from the 70’s, but you have to remember that they are a live band.

The songs in this album are still kiss. On all of their albums one could argue that there are tunes that are, politely put, just fillers. However, what many fans refer to as the “selling out” album, is marketing genius.

I Was Made for Loving You and Sure Know Something are relevant tunes for that time in he decade and kept the band in the spotlight for the remainder of the decade. Despite the inner issues in the group at that time, they still pulled off a good album with Dynasty.

I was in my 20’s when RATT came onto the scene. Music was much different then. Much better that is. RATT rushed in with their booming bass backed by electric guitars and Stephen Pearcy’s screaming lyrics.

I can remember going on the local college campus and hearing Round and Round blasting from the dorm windows. This CD contains most if not all of the greatest hits. My personal favorites are Round and Round, Wanted,Nobody Rides for Free “Which was on the soundtrack of Point Break with Keanu Reeves” Lay it down, and Slip of the Lip.

I’m sure any RATT fan will enjoy the entire CD. It does contain 20 of the best of RATT. So there’s a lot to listen too. I believe this version has been remastered and sounds great! I’ve been going back and collecting all of the old bands from this era.

RATT was at the top of list. Nothing like these old bands bringing back the fond memories of my younger days. If you’re a RATT fan or just like 80’s bands I highly recommend this CD. You won’t be disappointed.

Great CD Full Of RATT’s Greatest Hits. I Listen To It In My Car Everyday!! I Like The Fact That Songs Are NOT in Order Of When they Came Out, Like Most Greatest Hits Cd’s Do. There Are A Couple Of Songs I Would Have Liked To Have Seen On This CD And There Are A Few Songs I Would Have Omitted!! For The Money, It’s A Great CD.

There Is Always RATT 8191 Greatest Hits Album That Covers Things This Album Might Have Missed!!.

Sorry…I do like RATT. Glam, Hair, Pop Metal, it all Fits. Great tunes like Round and Round, Dance Dance Dance and Way Cool Jr are all included. Even Uncle Milton Berle approves!

All original recordings unlike some compilations which have a mix of live and re-recorded tracks. Good sound quality throughout the CD. All the hits are here except “Love is like Oxygen” and there are 3 or 4 lesser known tracks, hence 4 star rating.

Bought this to replace a very worn out cd I had owned since the nineties. Great to be able to let my hair down once more! Great band well worth every Penny!

Jimmy Page did a excellent job remastering this repress from the original studio open reel tapes. Its a 2LP collectors deluxe version I am reviewing with all the studio tracks on the reels released. The album arrived clean, no skips or pops, holes centered, same original album labels, perfect sleeves, perfect shape, no warps just great album manufacturing in heavy 180g.

Recording is very smooth, delicate, sharp, crisp, detailed, uncompressed and revealing but gives a relaxed realistic live studio feel. In my system and I am critical, the album had lots of bass not super huge but its not suppressed, its prominent.

The dynamic range was great, not open reel tape large but close, very enjoyable pace, rhythm and timing and easy on the ears unlike original CD’s. I gave the new LP a wash in an ultrasonic bath to get any manufacturing residue or dust ticks off, demagnetized and polished.

Excellent Expanded Edition.A must for all Fans of Zepp!!

Great album, took a while to receive but well worth the wait, sounds great

This sophomore album of Harry Styles is more refined and assured of it’s place on the musical airwaves. It does Indie Rock/Pop superbly. This is probably because Harry has navigated music for most of his life, and he now seems to know what he likes to sing as a solo artist.

Fine Line has it’s serious Indie tinged songs, but also it’s out and out joyous Pop songs. Like the well known “Watermelon Sugar”, and “Adore”. But the hidden Pop gems are “Sunflower, Vol. 6” and “Treat People With Kindness”.

Listening to these songs though the subject matter might not be HAPPY, the music makes it sound like it is. But there are 2 sides to this album. Lightness and Dark. There are heavier and serious songs, like “Falling” and “Fine Line”.

That hint at a relationship that has run it’s course, and is irretrievable. Other songs suggest the person was like a source of a inspiration, and like a light. There is a reason this album (since it’s release) has been popular with music fans, it has something for everyone.

DIRECTIONER FOREVER!!! I absolutely love this album, Golden always brightens my mood and makes me feel a lot better when I’m down. The rest of the songs are also amazing. I’ve been to two of his concerts from Love on Tour and they were literally the best nights of my life.

Absolutely fantastic album! My daughter turned me on to Harry Styles and Ive been in love ever since. Beautifully written with phenomenal vocals. Such a fun album to get you movin and groovin!

DATELINE: Naples, Florida June, 1976. while vacationing with my faimly, I went into a “headshop”. I was hypnoyized by the smell of patchouli, the R. Crumb t-shirts, the underground comics, and I was actually having a conversation with an exotically beautiful sales girl who was a few years older than me.

Dude, she was wearing a low-cut gauze-style shirt and wasn’t wearing a bra. Buckingham Nicks was playing on their sound system. Plus, that lovely salesperson was actually speaking to me. oh my God! My horny little head must’ve been spinning.

She told me that I REALLY needed to buy that record, too. In my narrow little 15 (“but, I’m almost 16”) year old mind, I just knew that Stevie Nicks probably must’ve dressed the same way, too. So, I went next door into a record store and I purchased that LP using my lawnmowing money.

One of my favourite albums from my hippy days in North London in the late 80’s. I bought the original CD years ago but the sound is so poor (Low output level, sounds dead) I could never stand to play it.

Don’t have the LP old or new. THIS REMASTERED DISC SOUNDS FABULOUS. THE BASS IS SO HEAVY WITH MY MASSIVE CERWIN VEGA CLS-215 SPEAKERS IT IS TERRIFYING. IF THIS WAS YOUR FAVOURITE ALBUM OR DON’T KNOW IT, PLEASE BUY THIS.

I bought this CD assuming it was the 2013 remaster as stated in the listing – but it’s not! It’s just the regular unremastered release which has been around for quite a few years now. So I wouldn’t recommend if you were looking for a cut-price remaster.

However my copy was brand new and sealed, and sounds fine so I don’t have too many complaints for he price and service. Just don’t expect the 2013 remaster!.

other (pherhaps) less known tracks; Showdown,Ma ma belle and one of my personal favourites – Rockaria,are also on the collection. Showcasing ELO ‘leader’ Jeff Lynne’s multi- talents,he also contributes to the albums sleeve notes,giving good info on the music contained within.

Earlier hits; 10538 overture and Roll over Beethoven,aren’t included and stop me giving it five stars. there is a volume 2 best of available for your listening pleasure – still doesn’t include the aforementioned.

but I conclude: I’m still pretty pleaded with this 1st offering and recommend it.

Oh what a CD to play full belt in the car!!! One hit after another. Superb. You can sing your heart out. Amazing how the words are remembered after all these years. Jeff Lynne is so talented. Brilliant CD for an oldie like me!!!!!!!.

A low-cost way of obtaining the very best music choices. ELO has a multitude of followers and requires no acolades from ordinary listeners. The CD supplied is expertly refurbished and tested and the standard for enjoyable listening is exhilirating.

I intend to continue buying from this outlet.

This is as clear and clean as I have ever heard this recording and if that is what your looking for I would highly recommend it. MOFI does a great job remastering from original masters and this is no exception! I do think you lose some warmth and depth of sound stage compared to the vinyl but it is still the 1b go to release of this album.

Lets be honest, sometimes you just dont want to get up and flip records.

The CD was of generally good quality, but there seems to be one circular scratch right on selection 11 that keeps one of my CD players from playing that track. But my computer could read it, so I burned it onto another CD.

The CD was from a library, so I was surprised that was the only problem. The selections on the CD are of course great if you like The Band, but not everyone does. I do, so I’m happy with it.

Great album early band music …harmonies are pure with a sort of innocence in a new rock ‘n roll sound…they were developing an identity which would define TheBand….

The best jimmy album by far, a close second comes in the form of thier latest album ‘chase the lights’. Look out for songs such as ‘the middle’, a chirpy, good sing along tune. well i enjoy it in the car anyway! Then possibly one of my favourite songs ever is ‘here you me’ which is simply beautiful and i think alot of us can relate to the lyrics (unfortunately).

Definately worth a try, i know i’ve certainly been enjoying it since its release, with songs always making thier way onto the playlist on my mp3 player 🙂 As already mentioned by another reviewer, its classed as emo, however take that with a pinch of salt, its not your stereotypical my chemical romance mainstream piffle, this is a by a talented band.

This has to be one of the standout albums of the last 10 years. It is phenoenal. Right from the first track it is catchy and well written. It contains the singles ‘The Middle’ and ‘Sweetness’ and both are very strong songs and deserve far more than one listen.

The entire album is very diverse not staying on one single sound all the way through, but it does not sound incoherant at the same time. Buy this album, you will not regret it.

as above, a great cd for the car,full of good songs to get you on your way. It was bought by my daughter for me since she saw J E W at the Download festival and sent me a video i have loved The Middle ,,it is my Happy Song and always cheers me uP!!!!.

Do not buy this record. Bad 25 came out back in 2013 /2014, they aren’t making new ones, there selling the ones that they found stock of back then. I’ve had 3 Bad 25 records in the last few weeks which were *no pun intended* were bad pressings, they had major skips in the record.

One of the major skips is in the 3rd Lp, it’s been consistent 3 times now. I strongly recommend you do not buy this record, wait for another anniversary or try your luck. If you do buy this record, I wish you luck on a good copy.

A very pretty product. Great printing, nice photos. A good item for the MJ collector that needs to have every item published. If you are more a listener than a collector then it’s not for you. Record 1 is fine (not as fine as the original pressing) but slightly loud.

They jammed ‘Leave me alone’ with the original record with awful outcome: it sounds noisy and sibilant. There are a couple of previously unreleased songs that might be interesting (even worth buying) but the mastering is not really really good.

Buy this set only if you like ‘Streetwalker’, ‘Price of fame’, ‘Al Capone’ or ‘Todo mi amor eres tu’ (Yes, in spanish! 😀 ). The 3rd record, the remixes, was useless to me. I wish they would repress the original records instead of milking the ghost 🙁 Michael Jackson was a perfectionist as a musician and producer.

These releases are far from being decent.

This was packed securely and quickly! The album brought back so many great childhood memories when my dad would play the tape version in his truck.

One of my favorite albums of all time in any genre or any period, music doesn’t get any greater than this great masterpiece. Before all the controversy and crazy stories this was MJ at his absolute finest and creative peak, this is when he had the world in the palm of his hands and could do no wrong.

This albums contains the sounds of soul, pop, jazz, rock and funk and uses them beautifully in this stunningly superb album. MJ followed up one masterpiece(Off The Wall) with another one in this album.

Great deal on this album.

Condition of the case was acceptable with scratches and cracks here and there, but the disc condition was great for what it was worth. Little to no scratches on the disc makes it great enough to listen without having to worry for it glitching.

Will buy from again in the future.

This Original “Thriller” CD is the best way to listen to Michael Jackson’s music where ever you are! Even if you have the “Thriller” album, which I feel is important, because that was the way it way released, you might not always want to play it on your turntable.

So, the CD “Thriller” has all his best hits and it gives you the opportunity to listen to it even more. I definitely wanted the “Thriller” CD as it’s part of Michael Jackson’s best music and it’s history! I feel it’s a “must have” in your collection.

I do wish that it had pictures of Michael in the cover booklet, instead of the words, but I guess that’s important also, but I wouldn’t be singing the songs, thus the pictures would have been more important to me.

It’s been a while since a new 3 Doors Down album and fans have been waiting diligently. And 3DD delivers. Their eponymous album is solid, I can’t say if it’s their best but it is a great album. It flows well, with only a few weaker songs, and will definitely please long time fans.

The hooks they’re known for are still their; this is shown in their second single “It’s Not My Time”, which is reminiscent of “When I’m Gone” stylistically. Overall, 3 Doors Down is a solid release that breaks no new ground for the band but continues to supply what they’re best at.

Their fourth album finds them continuing confidently down the path they’ve established, as Brad Arnold’s voice contrasts heavyweight wailing with contemplative near-crooning. Rampaging riff monsters like “Train” rub shoulders with the power balladry of “Your Arms Feel Like Home,” as the band’s trademark mix of raw energy and melodic pop unfurls itself once more.

3 Doors Down is one of the fewest band in the rock world today that does not sing about womanizing, partying till you puke, and figuring out a way to go to jail. Yet they maintain there edge and are a very solid rock band.

The singer can actually sing. And the band does not lack in musical style. The bad. Some of the melodies are close to some of the older songs they have done. This has more to do with the choice of scale and arpeggio patterns to maintain the bands sound.

I believe they concentrated a little to hard to maintain the (bands sound) than should have been. I believe the guitar player could of been a bit more experimental and dare i say not try to keep the same sound so much that it seems as though he running over the same ground again.

But overall these guys are the best i have heard live. I go to 7-8 concerts a year and continue to be the best sounding band. They are not the best showmen but the best sound. I mean to say Kiss is a great show but the music is horrible.

I would say buy it.

I bought this CD because I absolutely love 3DD. I’ve been anxiously awaiting this CD’s release. Much to my dismay, it is not nearly as good as their previous CDs (Better Life, Away from the Sun, 17 Days.

) The songs are average with very few guitar solos (where was Chris when the DVD was recorded?) The DVD was so boring that I fell asleep (so maybe Chris was on it?) It sounds as though this band has gone commercial/pop and disengaged from their rocker ways.

Brad Arnold, the lead singer, says in the DVD that the new CD has some great rock songs. The only song that even comes close to that is the first one. There is way too much singing on this CD and not enough guitar riffs/solos.

One thing this recording has done for me: I now regularly play their 3 previous CDs because they are so good! And those recordings are even more precious now. I’ll be selling this 2008 copy on ebay, as I don’t have any desire to listen to it again.

And that is just sad. What happened to the 3DD I used to know and love?.

Be very cautious with this 180 gram Jimmie Page re-mastered german pressing. There is a unremovable smudge on both sides of the album. I have taken back 3 records hoping it was a bad run and they all had it.

You can hear it right when you drop the needle and it continues into the first songs on both sides for about 6-9 rotations. Must be a bad pressing. Sorry Jimmie Page.

To make it short, at least the first five (because I’ve only listened to those) sound darn good. They all sound like the originals with improvements. The treble is the only parts that might sound a little splashy at times.

As long as your turntable is up perfect, there is no problem. Led Zeppelin II sounds the best. You’ll like Led Zeppelin I with no doubt. Take a chance and buy these. They are worth it.

I was lucky and got to hear all the GREAT music as it first came out. This album is one of my all time favorites, and the best Led Zeppelin album. Guarantee unless your Grandma grew up and loved this music as a kid, she will hate it!! ENJOY!.
