20 Best Jig For Largemouth Bass (2023 Updated)

This jig works wonders in just about every condition. In the early spring, I’ll throw a 1/4oz. model to imitate smaller crawfish. the 3/8 oz. & 1/2 oz. sizes are great for pitching to tight places or up under docks.

They have a big enough profile to move water, but are compact enough to not overwhelm the fish. In fact, my jig box consists of Boo Jigs and Pigskin Jigs, along with Craw Papi for trailers. One thing I do, as I usually fish in clear water situations, is to cut the rattle chambers off.

These jigs have won me a lot of money in tournaments, so I don’t think the lack of rattles hurts their performance.

I like the fact that it has 2 positions to tie/clip on so you can cast or vertical jig. But first fish I caught with it, the bucktail lost more than half of it’s hair to a sea robin…. should be better than this….

now it just looks like a jig head……. Disappointed on that front.

Love these jigs on the reefs. Since there’s less hair they cut through the water far better than some more expensive competitors.

I purchased this hook in red & white about 3 months ago, since then it has absolutely destroyed the competition by far by catching the most jacks and Walleye. They love it they will come right up to the boat or the dock to check it out and will take a few nips at it or they will bite it! Almost caught a gigantic Walleye out of the Mcloud River last month!.

Nicest looking bucktail I have ever seen they made the perfect bucktail with great features I watch the video with Al Linder explaining that it was two and a half years of development. It catches fish (Walleye) for me.

They look great but the hook is so soft. Maybe good for tiny freshwater fish but hook bent on short fluke. Do not recommend

Great jig. I use it with or with out a tail and for the tail I use a saucy swimmer. This lure will catch serious bass. Get with the spinning rod. Fishes easy in basically any water type. I have this color and bought three other ones.

100% worth the 5 stars the quality of these baits far exceeded my expectations. Compared to others that may be a bit cheaper the quality of these are worth it. The skirts are fuller, the hooks are high quality and the head design there is nothing like.

I definitely will be making Googans my go to.

I’m somewhat new to using flipping/pitching jigs and still learning how to perfect my technique but these jigs sure do work well. I’ve tossed it into lily pads, grass and open water and have pulled up 3+ pounders just about every time I’ve done so.

Black blue purple and green pumpkin orange in 3/4 oz. have been the best for me so far. Use Strike King rodent and Zoom brush hog as my trailers. The only drawback is that after pulling up a 3 pounder from some pads I noticed that the weed guard was badly messed up and is not as effective now.

Aside from the design being an excellent idea in theory and execution, these are the best jigs you will ever buy at this price. I fish these over jigs of 2-3x the price routinely. These are genuinely top shelf, tournament quality jigs.

Around 90% of the jigs I own/throw are custom, hand wire-tied. These are of equal quality on their worst day. If I could only throw one jig for pitching and swimming, it would be these. They’re likewise wire-tied, the spring locks are decent and can be replaced, increasing the life of the jig, the paint holds up, and they look great in the water.

Sharp, stout hooks you can swing for the fences on. I love the bluegill as a swim jig and it can also be used for pitching. I mean they all can, but the bluegill color is versatile across all waters I fish.

I can also attest that these are effective for River smallmouth, spotted bass on Table Rock, and some chunky largemouth.

This jig in my mind doesn’t replace the standard weedguard jig, after all the benefit of those is a more consistent hookset due to the exposed hook vs T-Posed. However this jig does come through wood better in my opinion as you wont have the issue of the jig rolling and snagging itself.

Plus if you set the hook into logs that feel like a bite youll more often then not still keep your jig rather than going swimming. The smaller skirt than standard jigs is nice and in my mind this is a good compromise between a texas rig and a full on flipping jig for when you are fishing a new lake.

Can’t speak highly enough about these jigs. Great paint finish. Great price. Great skirt. Plus when your trailer is beat up you can take it off and put it on your standard jigs. Love em. The hooks are also amazing and certainly won’t bend out.

This is my favorite bait. The trailer keeper is awesome. The trailer never slips. Good action and the purple/black color is my go to lure. Seems to attack more than my other jigs. I have confidence in this lure.

This Store is looking more and more like a dollar general. There is a mess everywhere and boxes that need to be stocked left out for weeks. This is a direct indication of poor management.

I love these jigs. Big fan of the falcon lake craw, the red really sets it off in stained waters. I use a green pumpkin or watermelon red flake rage craw or rage menace for the trailer. Can’t go wrong.

A great bait to contact bottom and swim when in search mode. One of our goto baits to locate shallow water smallmouth in the spring. Once you locate good fish, our customers can dial in a more specific pattern for finesse fishing and dissect an area.

this jig is the best all-around jig it’s great for skipping or working through grass it is a very versatile lure I take when I’m traveling or fishing bodies of water where I live. it will always be found in my tackle box.

Have original chatter baits tint to large tones, chatter bait elite, chatter bait w/weed guard, freedoiim chatter bait, all of Z Mans offeringsg including latest snake eyes David walker and thriftys BIG BLADE jackl hammers and thunder cricket from strike chk king, even though the same.

These are made with quality components at least and the idea is plausible. The blade if you will was taken from the ledge bait hammer head so action isnt comparable to bladed jig. Good colors offered good hook, skirt split ring.

Just doesnt have action.

Bought this on a whim. After testing a few different brands, this is quick becoming my favorite. It has a slightly weaker thump to it than the Thundercricket but a harder thump than the Zman original.

It also comes through cover and bounces off of rocks more effectively than the other brands I have found. The one thing I did notice is that you get a better thump on it if you have your rod tip pointed straight down.

This lure looks pretty good. It’s built from quality materials. I don’t know if it was just mine or not, but I couldn’t feel the vibration it’s suppose to have while retrieving. I didn’t catch any fish on it, either.

Switched to a chatterbait and fish started chomping. I wouldn’t recommend it based on my experience with it, but there’s also a chance I wasn’t using it correctly as I’d never owned one before. Anything is worth trying for yourself, though.

Maybe it would work for you.

Awesome looking Jig, I use when the water is murky and dirty. it is nice with a dark or chartreuse trailer. It is nice and I recommend it.

I’m only giving this item two stars because of the skirt. I like Booyah’s skirts, patterns, and color schemes. This bait is a bust and its sad to say because you would think it would be awesome judging by the design and success of other Booyah jigs.

This lure twists and turns over in the water when swimming it. This jig does excel sliding through grass-like cover, but the Strike King Swim Jig does better at. SWIMMING!.

The jig skirt is covered in yellow glue from where way too much was used on the weed guard. Looks like a kindergartner assembled this.

I fish a lot of jigs – I use different brands/size/weight depending on conditions or purpose. If there is ANY slop, slime, weeds, mats, grass, stick ups, lay downs etc, this is my go too. It cuts right through it and comes out clean.

I hate picking salad off my bait every cast and this is the only jig I’ve found that really comes through it all and generated vicious strikes. They also stamp the weight on the bottom of the jig head which is really handy when you need to just grab and go.

The ponds I fish are extremely weedy. So weedy that fishing becomes frustrating at times. This is the first lure I used without constantly having to pull weeds off of it. The grass hero jig is true to its name, it rips through grass and weeds like its nothing.

Very good build quality. Definitely has a nice weed guard. Good swimmer too! The absolute only thing that would make it better is if it was guaranteed to catch you a big bass! It sure tries though! You just have to know where and when to throw it like any bait.

I purchased these to try out as they were cheaper than the other ned heads available. I want a hook that I can straighten out and not break when I get snagged. I have bent these out several times, reshaped the hook, and have not had a single breakage.

If you set your drag too tight with too heavy of gear, you may bend out on bigger fish. As long as you use proper gear and drag settings, you will not bend this hook out on fish. Pros: Hook can be straightened out and bent back out without breaking Bait keeper holds well enough but still allows removal and readjustment of plastic (I still use superglue though) Hook shape seems to help keep fish pinned (You loose the shape after the first time bending out from a snag) Fine wire hook sets easily Cons: Hook point isn’t that durable, will need to sharpen after enough use Sometimes the lead will break free and wobble on the hook (This does not effect performance though) Fewer hook and weight size that competitors I believe that the hook is a little softer allowing me to continue to re-bend without breaking the hook but also results in a less durable hook point.

IMO, I’d much rather sharpen my hook after a snag than break the hook. This would be a solid 5 star product if the hook point stayed sharper longer.

I’ve been a Wacky Rig 4 inch Senko advocate for many years. My go to bait everywhere I fish. I kept on hearing about the Ned Rig. I finally decided to try it out. Well I guess you can teach and old dog new tricks.

I bought the Z Man 1/15 ounce Finesse Shroomz jig head. I also bought the Z Man TRD Green Pumpkin and cut down my 4inch Senko to 2 3/4 inches. I had a blast learning how to use the Ned Rig. I caught just about everything my lake had to offer.

Large mouth, small mouth, pickerel, sunfish and perch. Only thing I didn’t get were Crappies. I still love my wacky rig (it catches bigger fish than the Ned Rig) but the Ned Rig gave me more quantity.

Will be trying different weight and color Jig Heads and experimenting with different softbaits. I am now a Ned Rig fan and a big Z Man Fan. Thank you Discount Tackle you always come through.

Usually use the Zman Nedlockz HD jig but decided to try these in the 1/16 size as they are half the price and I was not disappointed. Hooks are very sharp and you get great hook penetration (light wire hook) with minimal hook set.

Overall the are my new favorite jig head. The only minus is that the bait keeper does not work that great but a little superglue on the head of the jig to hold the plastic on works great. Have already bought 3 packs and plan on buying more.

I’ve fished a lot of different brands of ned-style jig heads quite extensively and I would have to rank these as among my favorites. Better than the Z-man equivalent from a quality perspective, and for less money.

Hooks breaking as referenced by another reviewer is not my experience whatsoever. The hooks are actually quite stout, with a longer shank and a better sized barb than many of the other brands on the market.

Even the paint holds up pretty well by comparison, which is a nice bonus. The only down-side at all I would say is that the keeper is a little big, so threading Elaztech baits and getting them to stay in place is a tad tougher.

Though it’s nothing a little fiddling and a dab of superglue won’t fix.

I buy these hooks for all Ned Rig fishin. Better value & better hook then the Z-Man Ned Heads.

I have been using this type head for 2 years and it always comes through .The plastic baits do not slide off the keeper and you do not have to keep replacing baits due to this feature.

Skipping wise, it does very well albeit a bit heavier jig would probably skip better. So far it’s made well.

Excellent bait great quality and with the scent infused in the skirt makes the fish hold on longer

Excellent color selection for whatever the hatch is that you’re trying to match. These lures also cast a mile. 1oz is a perfect inshore size to get the job done.

Ordered these to compare to the Shimano Coltsniper (basically the same lure). I haven’t had a chance to fish these yet as I received them this afternoon. They certainly are far more reflective than the Coltsnipers and make them look dull in comparison.

Thinking I will side with Daddy Mac going forward. The only downside is that I was compelled to swap out the split rings and hooks as they seem a little on the weak side; But I do that with almost everything.

I will update as soon as I get a chance to get them wet.

Great casting jigs at 1. 25 ounces. Have caught blues and Spanish mackerel so far, waiting on the Albies to get here. Only rated four stars since the finish is not as good as an epoxy jig but cast far and catch good for the price!.
