Tarpon 105 Review Last weekend I went kayaking with my family with the Wilderness Systems Tarpon 105 kayak. I kayak a lot but usually with a different kayak. This time I just wanted to try a different kayak.

When I first started paddling the kayak, I realized that it seemed a little heavier than some of the other kayaks I have paddled. Because of this extra weight, it was a little harder to paddle. It felt like I was paddling a barge.

It just felt really heavy and slow. Another thing was the handling of the kayak. It was very hard to keep going in one direction. It felt like with every paddle it would go the opposite direction of where I wanted to go.

However, there were a few good things about the kayak. The seat was very comfortable. It was the best kayak seat I have ever sat on. Another positive thing is the stability. Usually when getting into a kayak it will wobble a little bit and I would have to find some balance and then get into the kayak.

In this kayak, I could sit down with relative ease. Overall, I would say that there definitely are some positives and negatives about this kayak but for me the negatives outweigh the positives.

I bought my Tarpon 105 from Black Creek Outfitters in Jacksonville in 2021. I love the light weight and size. It’s easy to load and transport. It is very comfortable. Tracks great. Really unexpectedly great tracking considering the size of the boat.

I have had a major problem with mine. The straps that hold the back of the seat have broken twice now. The first time, the place I bought it replaced them for free. Now they are out of business and the Wilderness System website says they don’t make the part anymore which is puzzling since stores are still selling this boat.

I am searching for at least a replacement strap. At best a new seat. I would not recommend it until this strap problem is correct.

Handles nicely and the tracking is great. Love the multi-adjustment seat, secured tackle box, and magnetized bottle holder. It would be really nice if scupper hole plugs came with it for all that money.

Thanks for enclosing the holes under the seat tho. There’s no way to secure anything in the front dry well. A friend of mine has a 2018 Tarpon 100 that has eyelets in the dry well so you can at least clip something in.

All in all it’s a really nice kayak and I’m loving it. Thanks Appomattox River Company for your Covid-19 safety precautions when loading my kayak.

The best of all flaggy flags. Mega orange. Does a great job at being orange. Very much not yellow. Definitely not a blue flag. Might be red. But definitely does a great job at being a orange flag.

I needed a flag for my boat to be legal on the lake. They were out of the suction cup to stick on the bottom of the flag. They were out of another model that have the suction cup on it so basically I got a flag on a stick that needs to be held up by a person.

I will attempt to find a separate section cup for the flag i bought.

This flag is perfect for what it is for 🙂 Waving and bringing attention to your situation…. be that a skier down or flagging down the tow tug (my particular use lately lol).

We received a used rope broken in 2 places. This isn’t Home Essentials Direct or the the mfg issue. Some one returned something they broke. The rope is good but the handle is poor. The rubber is not secured to the alumn handle and ripped off.

Also the handle doesn’t float. There is a float to keep it near the surface. Just not a good combo.

The rope works well. Having the different sections is great to get closer or further away from the boat depending on how much wake you want. The rope floats well enough, but the handle does not.

The soft handle makes skiing and knee boarding easier on your hands. The fact that it floats makes it easier to get skis on and knee board ready not having to worry about it sinking and having to swim back to the boat to get it.

Bought these because its all they had in stock and we were going to the lake. My 14 year old daughter got up on the second try with them! The trainer bar was great for a starter and she took it off quickly.

Adult got up as well, and then promptly fell and now there’s a huge chunk out of the top of the ski. Rope is already fraying as well. Worked well, but going to return them due to quality issues within two weeks.

Too NARROW. I am a size 13 and couldn’t comfortably wear these bindings, the horseshoe design clamps the sides of my feet and makes these unasable by myself. If you have wide feet don’t buy these.

We are new to water skiing. These were recommended by the evo staff and are perfect.

Best casting Needlefish lure on the market. I like to fish these the same way as I fish bucktails. Low and slow with a twitch once in a while. Great thing about these is that depending on the retreive speed you can fish these at any height in the water column.

Great lure. I tend to take off the rear siwash because larger stripers tend to inhale the whole plug and take the rear hook deep.

This is my confidence fish finder lure at night when the water is rough. Casts well in wind. Key is to be bored using this lure. Little twitch here and there maybe but for the most part a boring steady retrieve maintaining contact with the lure.

I don’t see many guys using them in the area but they work well for me.

I discovered the super strike needlefish a few years ago and haven’t looked back since. I used to fish wooden needlefish but struggled in the surf with scraping them up and damaging them. The super strike needlefish are truly bulletproof and last much longer than most wooden needlefish.

My personal favorite model is the 1-ounce floating model especially in a blitz situation with small bait, which always seems to attract the fish. Overall amazing product.

Bought this for my Honda Goldwing GL1500SE, with all the electronics I needed something that was gonna hold a charge if the bike wasn’t running and its a 6 cylinder so I needed good cold cranking amps CCA.

This definitely did the trick. It fit perfect & looks pretty snazzy too. No BS I literally jump started a Subaru Impreza with a super dead battery, it started it immediately, I couldn’t even remove the cables for a minute after it started because the battery was so bad it started to stall when I pulled 1 lead off.

The price is the best out there too. Remember, look at mAh and the CCA. This is a gel so it doesn’t charge like other batteries, do your research before you charge. You can still use a battery tender if you want during the off season.

Came early in the mail as an unspillable battery. Completely self contained gel battery. Same dimensions as my old lead-acid battery and has the same cranking rating. Easy to install and is working great right now.

Delivery came ahead of schedule bit the battery was defective. Talked to company and they asked me to have it tested at a reliable battery store. I brought the battery new if I wanted to go to a battery store owould have brought it there.

There going to send me a new battery.

Installed battery and wouldn’t even light up dash. Checked it and only had 9. 3 volts. Hit the starter and completely killed battery. Tested 00. 00 volts. They are taking care of it but in the meantime I had to go out of town.

Now I’m stuck trying to get family member to send the junk battery back so I can get the new replacement. Just a pain.

Same physical size, but the poles are reversed for a ’76 Honda CB200T. Fortunately my cables reach, but the battery cover doesn’t fit anymore. For now I put a thick slab of rubber on top so it doesn’t short to the metal seat pan.

I’ll pay closer attention next time I buy a battery. BUT this seems to be a good battery. bike started right up and holding a charge.

The model arrived promptly from Motion RC (EU). The price was less VAT and delivered by Fedex. It went together very well, all parts fitting perfectly. I opted for the upgraded motor and two bladed prop, which were a straight swop.

Only a few negatives. The wheels are VERY hard, and I am planning on swopping these for a set of low bounce Dubro wheels. The Lipo strap is way to short. and I purchased a longer version from HobbyKing UK.

Even with a 4s 4000 60c lipo, the model comes out tail heavy. It needs at least 3oz of lead in the cowl, so bit of a design issue here. The biggest problem (and the reason I will purchasing future models from UK based retailers), is that Fedex add £12.

00 handling costs plus as expected the VAT. This makes the model too expensive. I have yet to fly the model, but based on previous experience I anticipate it will be very good.

Expensive but they work, better than a mold craft half their price? Maybe not but I still like to have a couple in my arsenal.

I recently purchased this lure for tuna and wahoo kayak fishing but I scheduled a smith river salmon fishing trip and used this lure the salmon love this lure biggest salmon of the day 50 pounder the only disadvantage i would say is the skirt is a little long but just cut alittle bit off.

They thought of just about everything with this kayak. I knocked off one star for some subtle things that could be improved upon. 1, the rudder. It works beautifully, but when you’re wheeling the kayak around, it’s difficult to keep the rudder housing from dragging the ground (even when rudder is in upright position).

2, there was a small amount of assembly required, and the instructions were difficult to find (YouTube is your best bet here). Even if they just included a little piece of paper that had a QR code linking to youtube instructions, that would be fine.

But it was kind of a shot in the dark otherwise. As far as the kayak goes, though, it’s smooth, incredibly stable, comfortable, and rugged. This thing is a fishing machine. And delivery wise, I couldn’t be happier.

The 5th star is just those small design and experience details.

Finally received my kayak after 2 months! The shipping company is terrible; no way to track in real time and do not answer email or phone. That said, I tried out the Lure 11. 5 this weekend. It’s a beast to carry.

The website says 85 pounds without seat and overdrive. Unfortunately the seat is not easily removed. The seat is really awesome, although I could not easily master moving it front to back. The kayak is very stable.

I fished standing up and with the seat raised. The pedal system works great but requires strong legs. The rudder mechanism is very easy to use, and locks in an up position easily when on land. One little convenience item is that it lacks a cup holder, but I think you can add one to the rails.

Overall, I’m really happy with my purchase and can’t wait to be on the water catching fish.

I bought the Moken 12. 5 because my nephew needed a nice kayak and because I wanted something smaller than my Viking Reload, which is a 15-foot beast for offshore use. The simplicity, the wheel in the keel, the nice seat, and the sonar pod makes it well worth the money.
