20 Best Jeans For Big Hips (2023 Updated)

So this was my first Madewell purchase ever after having a recent style-identity crisis and I’m beyond impressed. I have a 28’ waist / 38?ish hips and often struggle to find pants that are flattering on my butt but that taper the right way at my waist without the weird gap.

typically wear a size 6, but the 4 in these were perfect with just the right amount of stretch/structure ratio. I’m typically extremely picky about how pants fit and the shape they create on my body, but I genuinely have no negative critique on these.

Beautiful loose leg silhouette, nice fitted waist/thighs. I do wish Madewell offered more styles in a true black, but regardless I’ll definitely be back whenever I’m in the market for anything (but especially jeans/pants).

never has a pair of jeans fit me better! these are more of a straight leg style than flair but omg. i have always strayed away from straight leg jeans because of the way they look on me. but these fit so well! they dont squeeze my thighs but theyre not overly loose to the point where they look baggy.

they are truly perfect! i will be wearing these all the time now! i’m usually a 27 and the 27s were just a tad too long for my liking and by some sort of grace, they had a 27petite that fit perfectly and are the perfect length! love these and i’ve had many people ask where they’re from! perfect!.

Size 6 petite here, looking for something with an actual wide leg, not the “yeah, this is still a skinny jean for all intents and purposes” straight leg jean. This works. Fits around the waist/hips; also fits around the thighs without being skin tight, and wide around the knees, which was the main thing I needed.

Very loose around the calves. Quality seems better than Old Navy so far. Caution: if like me you are 5′ 1″ they may run a little bit long, but so far I haven’t had to hem them/roll them up. I will probably be buying more in the future.

If you’re tall like me, especially if you’re long-waisted or have a naturally higher waist, take heed: order the tall version. I initially ordered the regular length because the reviews all said these run long.

They do, the regular was the perfect length on my 5’11” frame, but I couldn’t button or zip them at all. I ordered a size up which was way too big. Realized the issue is that the rise was too low, and that the intended waist of the jeans was actually around my hips.

Tall in my original/regular size fits perfectly but it’s not high rise IMO, closer to mid rise. Fitted through the waist and hip so it’s flattering on the butt and doesn’t look sloppy, but perfectly wide legged.

Also love the color for casual denim. The denim is very soft, a lighter mid-weight denim. Did have to hem several inches because the Tall is LONG, now they just touch the top of my foot and look great with everything from mules to classic white sneakers.

My new favorite jeans.

I’ve been looking for a pair of jeans like this for YEARS! The fit is adorable and the fabric light weight and comfy. I don’t buy “curvy” usually, however, these worked out awesome and unlike other pants that I need in 2’s or 6’s, I ordered these in a 4 which is my standard size and they couldn’t be better fitting.

I am 5’5 and range between 132 & 137 lbs. Buy these NOW!.

I ordered these jeans in a size 9 with my height of 5’6 and they were tight and short. The jeans only came up to my above my ankles. Tight in the waist line. That’s my usual size in jeans on here so I don’t know what happened with these jeans.

They were beautiful looking jeans though.

They are so comfortable & stretchy. I need the stretch, due to I have a little midsection. It’s fall here, so I will wear with boots & a nice blouse or switch up & throw on clogs. I wear 175/180 & the 11 is comfortable.

I was expecting to have to return these, but fit is fabulous! Nice stretch but hugs your curves flawlessly. No muffin top. try them out. Ohhhhh, the smell of the dye is pretty strong, I suggest washing them prior to wearing.

I washed inside out, cold water & air dry. No fading so far.

1st. I’m 6. 1 finding jeans long enough is rare. Finding GREAT quality, more rare. Cute, stylish & good quality are as easy as finding a unicorn. These jeans are AMAZING. Super comfy, I’ve gotten tons of compliments.

The quality is fantastic. And they fit fabulous hip to heals. I totally recommend. Will be purchasing more.

Initially I liked Rock Revival Fiery something mid rise and tore off the tags and hung them up immediately. But after trying on these jeans, I realized the Miss Me jeans didn’t have a gap in the back.

I returned the Rock Revivals and purchased several pairs of these instead. I worried the cut would be too high—I refuse to go high-waisted again after all those years getting used to mid rise in the early 2000’s when it was impossible to find anything else! These are slightly higher than traditional mid rise but only just.

The back is higher and that eliminates the gap and I don’t need a belt with these. The quality is excellent and the color doesn’t bleed. I’m 5’4”, 40” hips, thick legs and calves, 30” waist and these are going to be my staple denim.

I have 3 other pairs of miss me curvy jeans from buckle that fit nicely. I ordered these online in the same waist size, boot cut and curvy style as my other 3 miss me jeans but these were at least 2” to small.

Couldn’t even button these. What happened to my favorite jeans? “Easy returns” charges $5 to use their shipping label. Not happy about that when I believe the miss me jeans are labeled wrong or they are now made smaller then the ones I bought two years ago.

Love the AE Curvy line, as all their other pants are much too big in the waist if they are able to fit my hips, which is not flattering at all. I don’t like jeggings and ripped jeans are unwearable in the winter where I live, so when I saw dark-wash curvy mom jeans without rips, I had to get them.

I was worried they might be too stiff because they are 99% cotton, but instead they have a nice stretch and won’t bag out. In other styles of these jeans, they have made them assuming that everyone with a larger waist to hip ratio has a huge butt so there is really unflattering butt bagginess if you aren’t so blessed.

They seemed to have fixed that in these jeans and I’m thrilled! I’m 5’6″ with a 28″ waist, 39″ hip and a 4 Long fits great, since I don’t like it when the cuff is above my ankle. I had to knock off a star ONLY because it was so hard to figure out sizing.

I had to make so many returns/exchanges. In the past 2 years or so, AE has made their size charts so inaccurate for some reason. I’m also pretty sure that they are not being truthful about the size a model is wearing in pictures.

I used to be a size 2 on their chart, but suddenly jumped to a size 6-8 without gaining that much weight. When I did try a size 8, it in no way fit me and neither did a size 6! Both were way too big on me.

In reality, a 4 comfortably fits in the waist and actually still has enough room that I need a belt to keep them up. I could probably even go down to a size 2 and have a comfortable fit, but I enjoy the slight bagginess.

AE, please correct your size chart and representation, it’s making buying clothes more difficult and can really promote distorted body image.

These jeans looks beautiful when you first put them on. Fit like a glove, with a tiny bit of snugness for the anticipated give throughout the day. However, these stretched out about 2 sizes just getting up and down from my desk a couple times.

They aren’t baggy in a flattering way, either. Waste of money that I will never see returned because I “wore” them. If you do want to risk these, size down. Even if they feel tight, you’ll be good after a squat or two.

These are my first pair of mom jeans because most I’ve tried on never fit properly so I always stick to the curving jeggings. I got them in a 6 Short like my curvy jeggings and the fit is on point despite most jeans with over 90% cotton always being too small on the waist in my size but when I try to size up there’s a huge back gap.

I have a 14 inch difference between my waist and hip so I hope AEO never stops making curvy jeans in all the trendy styles. The waist band is stretchy for if you have some bloat or ate a big meal and the thighs and legs are nice and roomy but not baggy.

Stiff and not stretchy or comfortable. Inconsistent sizing with other loft jeans in the same size. I always buy a 10 and these were tight, all my other loft jeans fit in a 10.

Great fit!! The jeans looked perfect on me which doesn’t happen very often. I had no reason to think about buying them. I happily went to the register to buy them!!

I’m 5’10 and wear a 22 in most bottoms but jeans I tend to go up to a 24 because I hate anything tight on my thighs. I never get jeans right! Ever! I’ve bought from just about every plus size store and they ALL get them wrong on my body! I’m tall and have thick thighs.

These jeans are perfect! You will love them! Stretch is perfect and still feel like jeans not leggings! I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! I bought 4 pairs!.

I love these! I have bigger hips, butt, & legs, but a smaller waist, so finding a good fit is always a challenge. Not anymore! These fit great, look great, and are super comfortable. AND – huge bonus – they’re priced great, too! Definitely gonna stock up on them!.

This is your classic stright jean. No bells or whistles. What you see is what you get. And that’s what I love about it. I’ve had 2 babies in 2yrs and struggle to find a pair of jeans that fit me right in my waist.

This pair is great. They do stretch out if you wear them a few times back to back. But after washing and drying they fit like they should. I would rather have that problem, than the opposite.

This is my first jeans purchase from AT, and so far I’m very happy. These jeans are SUPER high-rise (the front waistband comes up to just above my belly-button, the back fits nicely against the small of my back with no gaping).

I don’t know whether this is “normal”, but they don’t come up quite as high in the back as they do in the front. #JunkInTheTrunk LOL The fit seems to help hold in the mom-tummy — but it’s a feeling I’ll have to get used to.

Not a complaint, just facts; I’m not usually the high-waist type. Also, I usually wear a size 8 or 10 pants, and I went with a 10 since these are so slim-fitting. They’re still a pretty snug fit, but not at all constricting or uncomfortable because there’s a good amount of stretch in the fabric.

I’m 5’8″ tall, and these are “ankle jeans” (not quite as high as on the model in the picture, but definitely not full-length jeans). I’m taking off one star only because the waist comes up so high. I know high-waisted jeans are in style now, but if I could buy these with the rise just an inch or two lower, that would be perfect.

I ordered these jeans in this wash and the lighter wash, and I love both! I have worn them several times now, washed them, and they are SO comfortable! They do not stretch out but keep their shape, and they hold me in gently almost like shapewear! I love the higher rise and find that it does not cut in to my waist at all as the waist band stretches.

Another bonus – no muffin top! I wish they made them in tall as I wouldn’t mind the being a little longer for winter. Caution for women with larger calves – these are definitely “skinny jeans” and fit snugly in the calf area as pictured – work for me as I have smaller calves but can see where they might be too tight for some.

Please – make these in more colors, like black and white and an even lighter blue wash! They are the best!.

I love these jeans. The fit is perfect and they have a nice stretch to them for more comfort. These are an ankle length but are slightly longer than the ON slouchy ankle jeans I’ve been wearing this summer which fall about an inch above my ankle.

The OG Straight’s will be perfect with booties or loafers as they fall right at the ankle. I am 5’4″ and 115 lbs and purchased the size 4 in Regular length. Also like the zipper on these over the button fly.

Wish there were more colors in the Extra Stretch style!.

So, I don’t know what the “OG” stands for, but I wanted the the regular straight legged jeans with no “OG”. They didn’t fit right. When I returned them, I asked the guy at the register what “OG” stood for.

He had no idea. I asked one of the sales clerks as I looked through all the different styles of jeans what “OG” stood for. She had no idea. Nor did she know where to find the jeans I wanted. Maybe she was new.

I dunno. I found the jeans on my own and I STILL don’t know what “OG” stands for.
