20 Best Jb Weld For Aluminum (2023 Updated)

I bought this product in an attempt to seal a leaky radiator top on my 1998 Subaru. The top of this radiator is plastic and developed a crack due to a manufacturing defect. To be fair the car has 217000 miles on it.

I have tried a few other products and they mostly work but have over time failed to completely seal this crack. This is the latest attempt to seal that leak. I have not had enough time to make sure this time it will seal.

The product is easy to use as all you do is squeeze equal amounts of the two tubes onto a disposable surface (cardboard) then mix until it blends into a gray paste/putty. Then use whatever you find useful to apply and spread around.

I have found that it is easier to apply when the radiator is warm as this softens the mix and makes it easier to fill any cracks. The drawback to this product is that you will need to leave it untouched for 15-24 hours.

I use this to repair damaged engine blocks on motorbikes mainly on sumps and gearbox casings. Repaired a sump bolt issue on dt125 using this product and new bolt which I lightly wrapped with teflon tape so that it could be unscrewed after inserting into damaged area reinforced with JB weld.

1 year later the repair does not leak oil and the epoxy is not deteriorated. Make sure the repair area is oil/grease/dirt free – I usually degrease all the surrounding area with petrol and scrub with plastic brush or scrap off all the heavy encrusted grease and dirt,(even better clean the whole block down before dismantling) then use rubbing alcohol liberally sprayed on the whole thing and wiped off with new paper shop towels or kitchen towels then repeat process with brake cleaner/ degreaser /acetone whatever you have again using fresh clean towels.

JB weld can be very fluid so I usually make an enclosure using masking tape to keep the epoxy from running all over the place. Then finish the repair with dremel sander to finish.

Easy to use and does a good job patching steel. The only issue is because it has a long cure time unless you apply it on a perfectly horizontal surface it tends to run which means you may have to apply a second layer to fill in the gap left when it runs.

Unless you really need the strength of the steel reinforced version of JB-Weld you would probably be better off using the fast curing version. Unless you only need a little bit the large size (283 gr.

) is the much more economical value.

The JB Weld is a superb epoxy glue – with unrivaled holding power. It is made to a high standard with repeatable results from a trusted brand name. Two tubes of glue in alternate colours that mix to form a uniform grey – unlike the budget brands this product offers a long working and setting (curing) time.

The extra time to set gives you plenty of scope to reposition lots of small fiddly parts and get them placed or clamped exactly as you need them even in a warm working environment. If used as stated in the instructions – the resulting bond/fix is super strong and very durable.

(Used this time in an art project to fix over 120 stainless steel beads into a laminate tile – perfect results from a single mix – no waste).

Used to stick the fin back onto my single sculling boat. Seems to have created a strong hold, despite there not being much room for the glue in the slot the fin fits into. It’s quite sticky, but unlike similar glues it is easy to wipe away excess with a water dampened rag to create a neat line.

Was recommended to me by a veteran boat repairer at the club, so has been tried and tested! Only comment is that a white version would be better for rowing boats, as most are white and it would blend in more.

But this is a very specific niggle!.

This was bought specifically to glue foam padding into a carbon fibre freestyle kayak. It worked. Other bonding agents didnt (we tested first, so no harm done, other than wasted time and money). No chemical interactions or refusal to adhere to either material (carbon or foam).

The stuff mixes very easily and spreads well – a butter knife or plastic spatula will do the job. We used duct tape to hold in position, weights to maintain pressure and left it completely alone for 24 hrs.

It is fairly expensive for a small amount. We required most of 2 packs and would probably have slathered it on more generously if we hadnt seen early on that we wouldnt have enough to complete the job if continued that way.

Important to reiterate: It worked. The kayak has been out on the water for a total of 6 hours and no part of the foam is coming loose. Recommended. Unlike so many things this does what it promises to do.

Once it cures, it really gets stuck. The only thing it takes a bit of time for it to really stick though.

This is a great product. I have used J B-Weld for many many years and it has never let me down. The only thing that confuses me is I wuold expect the price of the larger packages to be lower. Not saying that I won’t pay the price because I will, because it works so well.

One thing about this partic becauseular product, J B-Weld 5 min. set time, make sure that you are ready before you mix the two parts because when it says 5 minutes it ain’t jokeing. All in all a great product that I will use again and again for years to come.

I pillar-bed a LOT of rifles since shooting is my main hobby. J-B Kwik has a working time of 4 to 5-minutes which works out perfect for getting it applied where you want it and then a quick assembly of the firearm and voila! Perfection! And if not you can pull your firearm apart after another 5-minutes and trim out the excess or add some more J-B to it.

Over the years, I have used this kwik weld product for a lot of things. The only drawbacks in this product, for me, are the price and size of the tiny tubes. This professional size, and price, took care of the problems I have had in the past with the cost and the small size, causing me to have to buy much too often and at an inflated cost to my bottom line.

I purchased this product on line just recently as I need to repair a high pressure wand on my high pressure cleaner. The product indicated that it would hold 3500 psi and this made me think it could fix a breakout in the wand.

My pressure washer only has a 1620 psi. I tried twice to repair the breakout only to find that the weld just blew off when I used the washer. This JB Weld is not suitable for a repair of this nature, I have since read a number of reviews (after the event) but was guided by the advertising that it was the world’s strongest weld to repair, the fact it mentioned 3500 psi I was of the opinion that it was the product to use.

This product is totally useless and a waste of money. I only wish I had NOT made the purchase (on line),otherwise I could return it for a refund. Repco; Please ensure that this review is posted, as the product does not stand up to what it is advertised to do.

Was totally sceptical at first to be honest if it would work, but done a few small jobs with it so far and it has stood up to the task perfectly,I even repaired my activity air fryer which gets super hot what I needed to fix and for weeks now its lasted with no issues at all,Id say its even stronger than the original part as that flexed slightly wheres Jb weld it absolutely solid.

Got to test it on a slight leak on my exhaust today so that will be a good test to see how well it holds up but if all the other reviews are genuine then it should definitely do it,fingers crossed,but I recon it will as done everything else Ive used it for up to date.

Cheap price to and havent got to use it all in one go unlike some others as its a resealable tube and a little actually goes quite a long way. Cant fault it at all really as worked well for my jobs whereas ALL other super glues ect have failed big time.

Personally I recommend this stuff and for a fiver just over you cant really go wrong. Top marks so far.

2 stars is quite harsh as it depends on the application with this product. I purchased to try and repair a leak in motorcycle header pipes. Its easy to use, mould and apply and appears to set very strong but it broke away after a few minutes riding, the heat and pressure from header pipes was too much.

Might be different in a car manifold or on other applications but this is definitely not suitable for motorcycle down pipes/head pipes.

Excellent product. Snapped off the overflow plug on my radiator neck and needed a temporary fix until the new radiator arrived. Worked perfectly. I was able to patch the area where it would leak and stayed completely sealed.

Awesome product. Be sure to use JB Weld high heat for radiator fix.

I needed to fill an area that would see high heat, and it was oriented where I didn’t think mixing the tube-type JB Weld would let me get the product into the area. First time I have tried this product.

It is a co-extruded tube of hardener and metal almost like modeling clay. You cut or pinch off a section and work it in your fingers to mix the product. I was able to do this and repaired several areas that I couldn’t get to with the conventional JB Weld.

The cure time is long enough that you have plenty of time to make multiple repairs. You still need to properly prepare the work area by roughing it and cleaning off all oils and grease. The JB Weld adhered to the work and not to my fingers.

Seems to have done the job.

I am a big fan of Jb weld products. I’ve referred to myself as master of jb weld several times. But this was my first time using this particular product. It held a rat trap together that was falling apart.

It dries fast. The rat is dead. The rat would be alive if not for this product. This product allowed the trap to snap the rats neck and cause instant death. I took no pictures.

This product is the real Mcoy for a job that requires a true sealant. I used this recently to seal a repair on a determinedly leaky garden bird bath, pure RTV silicone sealer is the only thing that will withstand immersion in all weather conditions.

The fact that it can be used to assemble all-glass aquariums tells you all you need to know about its adhesive strength and sealing properties. Not to be confused with the cheaper silicone-based sealants sold for domestic use in bathroom sealants etc.

I used this to bond some DRL led lights to my headlights The drl lights are in a silicon rubber housing and had very poor double sided tape attached. Other glues will not work to bond silicone but this does an amazing job, sets in an hour and cures completely in twenty four hours.

I needed some strong black silicone, did some research online and found this product, looked at prices and bought from EBay. Very useful and great quality.

I gave this a try because I have used JB Weld (another JB product) with some success in the past. I normally used a similar product (ABRO Steel) but it has not bonded very well in recent times. So I gave the JB a try instead.

Although a bit more expensive, I got a good deal on Ebay almost two for one. I have only used it a couple of times, but the JB steel seems to bond quite well, which I thought was lacking with ABRO Steel.

Both go hard which is the main reason for using the products. Note that the JB does clearly state metals, so I am not sure that it would stick to other materials (e. g. plastics). But I have not tested this.

Depending upon the job, use grooves or even scratches on surfaces to be joined and properly cleaned and de-greased for better adhesion. I do wonder whether the shelf life is somewhat limited with these products, once opened.

I suggest sealing in a plastic bag- tight at both ends of the stick. Vic.

I had a crack in the fiberglass bottom of my shower. I didn’t want to get a full-on professional repair, because I was going to remodel within the next couple of years, so I thought I’d give this a try.

How it works is there are two clay-like epoxy components rolled together that, when mixed are activated to become a putty you can use to repair almost anything. You can slice off a little or a lot depending on your needs, and the rest stays ready for another day.

I kneaded a half-inch “slice” for several minutes to make sure it was well mixed, rolled it into a long “snake,” and pressed it along the crack. I got my fingers wet and was able to make it smooth, gently blended the edges to the floor, and let it set.

I thought I’d have to sand it, but the result was so nice I didn’t have to do anything more, and the repair lasted until I sold my house a few years later. (Never did the remodel. ) When I moved, the tank of my humidifier was cracked and I tried to seal it with hot melt glue, and it didn’t work.

Then I remembered the putty, and it was still pliable, so I used that. Worked like a charm! (Although not very attractive. ) This is definitely going to be a staple in my toolbox.

Make sure to knead it long enough for the colors to become one color. I wrapped it around an old cast iron supply pipe, with the coupling nut included in the joint. I wrapped it tightly with duct tape to fill the damaged area on the leaking pipe.

I let it cure overnight, because I couldn’t get my water turned back on till morning. The repair has held 2 weeks later, and it completely stopped the leak. My water bill should be much lower next month!.

This putty epoxy stick is awesome stuff. This water/plastic type is so sticky and gooey it is hard to manage. The trick to maleate this stuff I found is a dab of water on your fingers after it is activated then added to touch.

Then you will have a very pliant lump to shape as needed. I have used this to fix ABS pipes, refrigerator shelving and faucet fixtures. Give it a try.

Bonds very quickly, which is great to glue small pieces (craft) that cannot be held together for long. As far as I know this is the fastest of the strong epoxy type glues on the market. I would not recommend for large pieces since it hardens so quickly after mixing.

For craft it is perfect, it can also be easily painted, it’s pale color is rapidly covered and hidden. Can be used for a few months once opened and capped. In summary, awesome glue for craft and small pieces.

Epoxy glue was used to try to seal a rupture on a driver side rear view mirror outer casing. The mirror had sustained some damage from backing out of the garage and hitting the side of garage door opening when driving in reverse gear.

Mixing the glue components was easy. I applied the mixture to the crack on the outer plastic casing and a solid hard bond was allowed to dry. After a month later, the bond split open and the rupture has reappeared where the glue seal was located.

The glue information said that it has the strength of 5020 PSI. Apparently, the inside of the rear view mirror was stronger than that.

Great product it really works it cures in 24HRS. I have use it before on my car follow the easy instructions and you’ll get the results you’re looking for. It’s hard to fine now days a good product that really works.

I used it to fix plastic and body trim panels and it has hold up. Very happy with the results. J-B Weld it’s been around for a long time and there’s a good reason why.

I’ve used several types of epoxy before, and though I wasn’t expecting Kwik Weld to work quite as it did, I’m still happy with the results. Unlike other epoxies, when mixed together this product doesn’t really liquify.

It’s more like a slightly watered down putty. It was tougher to work with because of that, but I’m still pleased with the results.

It doesn’t work very well. When completely set, it is hard and brittle, not flexible at all, as one would think more of a marine use. The biggest issue it doesn’t stick well to plastic/acrylic material.

Tried again with sanding and cleaning the area before application but still didn’t bond to the plastic/Acrylic. Wouldn’t buy this again for any purpose. Other 2 part epoxies stick better and aren’t crumbly brittle.

I bought near 10 of these does not turn yellow or brown in sunlight – UV protected. Its easy to buy at Lowes and Home Depot and many others. However Walmart is not allowing people younger than 18 to buy JB Weld products for over 6 years.

I suspect they are confusing it with JB Bourbon Whiskey therefore losing money on this JB Weld product.

Expected this white version to be the same as the other Marineweld epoxy in the separate tubes. That stuff is dark gray, and works great, dries quick and hard as a rock, perfect seal. This white stuff is totally different.

After a week it’s still sticky, not fully cured, and soft, nothing like an epoxy. Rip off. Why call it the same name as the other stuff, which it clearly is not. Very misleading. Now I have to somehow remove this gooey mess without causing too much further damage, and replace it with something else white.

What an annoying waste of time. Not happy.
