20 Best Inverter Generator For House (2023 Updated)

I think this is as big of a generator you can get and consider it portable. It has a nicely designed quality telescopic handle and 2 grab handles on top. It is an inverter/generator with specified very low harmonic distortion.

I figure that most electric merchandise these days are controlled by sensitive electronics and decided it would be prudent to get a unit with cleaner electricity output then a conventional generator supplies.

Considering the retail price relative to other known high quality manufacturers, I think the unit overall is a sound purchase for occasional recreational and emergency usage. My only negative criticism is the very common known issue with the automatic electric choke.

Cold starting the engine in almost all scenarios requires setting the choke and the choke should be off when the engine starts to run properly. I was anticipating this to be an issue on the unit I purchased and was not concerned about making the repair as there are several detailed videos online that provide instructions.

However, I don’t understand why this is a ongoing problem and honestly I was close to going with another manufacturer because I felt that this seemingly minor, ongoing unresolved issue may be indicative of several other soon to be exposed operating problems.

My choke would not engage upon initial start attempt. The engine would not start unlike others that did start but the choke would not disengage. My problem was the same though as the electronic choke harness was not plugged into it’s connector.

I suppose time will tell but I will say after having to remove and loosen most of the plastic panels to repair the electric choke issue, the parts and assembly that I could see seem to be quality constructed.

Once I corrected the choke the unit fired up right away and has ran great since.

I use my generator to camp while horseback riding. I prevationally purchased an i 2500 to use while horseback camping, but at the time I did not have a living quarter horse trailer with an AC. Now that I do have the living quarter horse trailer I decided to purchase the IGen4500 C.

This generator is packed with so many useful bells and whistles on it that the leading generator used for RVs does not have. I love the power start, and the remote start will keep me from going out in the cold or rain to fire up my generator when I need it.

This generator runs as quiet as my 2500 Westinghouse, which is music to your ears when you’re camping and several people are using generators at the same time. The pull handle makes it useful to get it where I need to move it, to get it out of my horse trailer down the ramp and where I plan on running it.

The large capacity fuel tank will allow it to run up to 18 hours or more depending on what I have plugged into it at that time. The digital display gives the approximate hours of run time on that tank of fuel, what the current load rate is, and how much fuel remains.

I love that it has the 30 amp RV plug on it. The two carry handles on top make it easy enough for a friend and me to carry it together when I have to lift it up. It comes with wheels, so no added expense to buy a wheel kit.

It has an automatic choke so we don’t have to worry about choking it before you start it. And best of all it fired up the very first time with one push of the on and off button right out of the box. And I saved about $2000 compared to the leading brand.

My review of the iGEN4500 is based on owning a Westinghouse WH2400i prior to this purchase. The iGEN4500 is roughly twice the size physically and in power. The iGEN4500 has more bells and whistles; electric and remote start, larger fuel tank, stronger engine, and carrying handle.

Unfortunately, the iGEN4500 did not improve on the oil filler location. It is still troublesome to fill and not get oil inside the compartment. Access the internal on the iGEN4500 is better than the WH2400i.

All is necessary is to unscrew some screws and you are in. I’m torn on gas consumption, though. I could get 14 hours on 1. 4 gallons of gas with the WH2400i, but I get 22 hours on 3. 4 gallons of gas with the iGEN4500.

I really wanted the electric start so I was willing to accept the higher gas usage of the iGEN4500, or at least I think I do. Now, the most recognizable difference has been in sound (loudness). I believe both the iGEN4500 and WH2400i have the same decibel rating but to my ears the iGEN4500 is noticeably quieter.

I really despise companies marketing generators as quiet and/or super quiet. It has to be as stupidest as calling power banks solar generators. Generators are not quiet, but I will say the iGEN4500 , compared to the WH2400i completely took me by surprise.

In my book, there are two wins in the iGEN4500 column, electric start and less generator noise. Just like the WH2400i, I do not plan to put many hours on the unit. It will only see occasional use. But it is nice to know I can move the unit easily outdoor, run an extension cord to wherever my load is, go back indoors, and use the remote start key fob.

It will be equally nice to barely hear the generator running from indoors. I hope this guy will give me troublefree operation just as the WH2400i during it reign.

I bought this new 7000is generator instead of the EM6500s that I went in for. My 24 year old EB6500s was suddenly having an issue delivering the usual 120v that it had been delivering when I needed it to.

Due to the age of my older unit, I decided to buy a new one and repair the old one for spare. I looked at the 7000is when I went in and studied the features vs. the older, more seasoned 6500s. So, I bought it.

The reputable dealer said that it was set-up and load tested and ready to go. When I got it home, I started it up twice and checked the voltage output and was delighted that it delivered 126v/253v at no load! That was great.

A week later, we had another outage and I went to use the new 7000is, but was surprised and then frustrated that even though it started up right away, it suddenly stopped running while I was letting it warm up.

It re-started easily and did not repeat the stoppage. Then, to my surprise, after it warmed up and I checked the voltage output, it produce none! NONE! It did not matter which switch combination I selected either.

It produced no output from any receptacle. I tried once, twice and a third time, but no output. My son, with the manual in his hand, also tried every combination, just to ensure that I wasn’t missing something, but still no output.

So, with great frustration, I got the old 6500s out and as it warmed up, the voltage stabilized to 115 to 118v and I used it to power the house. After running the 6500s for through two tanks of fuel, I decided to just try the new one and to my surprise, it started, warmed up and produced the correct voltage from the appropriate outlet/switch positions.

I used it for the next twelve hours or so and it ran fine and continued to produce the correct voltage. The only thing wrong? It doesn’t register any load readings on the display, no matter how high or low they are.

The good news is that the 7000is “sips” fuel compared to the 6500s, just as Honda promised. So, can I trust the new 7000is to protect my home from freeze-up, or lost food, or no water from the well, or lights, during the next outage, of which we have many? I bought a set of replacement brushes for the 6500s and will have that back ready just-in-case.

The fact that this is a 5500 watt inverter generator that bumps up to 7000 watts for the larger startup draw on things like air conditioning and microwaves would be enough for most people. But people that do not know the difference, don’t realize, that the reason generators fail to start is because of the lack of use.

It may sit for years with gas in it before you ever try to use tin an emergency Well, gas that sits in any generator”s gas tank (and carb) for an extended period of time will gum up a carburetor leaving it disabled.

For a small engine motor that is almost never used, the introduction to fuel injection on a generator was a game changer. Let me state. I wouldn’t keep 3 gallons of gas in the tank for five years and expect it run the next time I needed it to, but I bet it would.

In short. If you can. Run the gas out empty as much as possible every season. The fuel injectors aren’t as susceptible to gumming from stale gas as carburetors are. Keep a battery tender on it though because the generator won’t charge the on board battery sufficiently.

It’s a known problem. Just deal with it like I have for years.

You will need two grown men to get this thing in and out of a truck. Its a beast. Very well packaged for shipping. It has to be. First impression is very well built, all heavy duty. Put the wheels and support legs on with ease.

This thing is just so heavy so I had it on some 6×6 blocks to get it off the floor to help with that task. Battery comes with it, bit of a pain to form cables in small area to land them on battery posts.

Added my oil and good gas and it fired right up. It is so quiet. I could not be more happy with how quiet it is. Please do the right thing and break this generator in correctly. Plenty of information on line to get this done.

This generator has everything you need to get through a power outage. Yes they are very expensive, but piece of mind is priceless. It is so well built it should last for years if properly cared for. It is by far the baddest somewhat portable generator on the planet.

You will not regret the purchase. Again. Its a beast.

Used for a 4 day -Labor Day camping weekend. Works great. Super quiet in eco-mode. A bit louder when we were running it at full capacity. It ran out Ac (30 amp plug) in our camper just fine, but struggled when we tried to use the microwave with the ac.

Pretty light also. Best with two people to grab out of the back of the pickup. Nice handle and wheels to move it around. Didn’t try to run it off propane but came with the attachments and seemed to be easy.

Great generator for the same price as the smaller wattage Honda. I’m glad I got this instead because of the extra wattage.

I purchased this dual fuel generator for camping and in the event Texans experience Snowmageddon II this winter. The unit is easy to setup, start, and shutdown. It arrived quickly and in excellent condition.

The product seems to be of good quality.

Compared to others I find this genny loud. Im usually at camp site or area that I prefer to have little noise. That being said. Easy push button start, dual fuel if needed, and plenty of power for my 24 ft toy hauler.

Just bought this generator and I am so pleased. It is exactly as described. Runs my whole camper 13,500 BTU AC all lights etc. Runs nice and quiet. For the money I haven’t seen a better product on the market.

Comes with all you need to get started including a funnel to put the oil in the generator. I invited my neighbor over to check out my new generator for camping and he’s already left to go order one online like I did.

I am very pleased with this generator. It was an easy set-up and after changing the oil several times to break it in properly, it runs like a champ! It is quiet and powers my home’s sump pumps, refrigerators and more.

Great piece of mind to have for those days with power loss. Factorypure is a first-class operation. They matched a competitors price and shipped the generator to me in record time. I will return to this store in the future.

I have two of these that I have run exclusively on propane. I find that the first start after connecting it to propane is hard, requiring several pulls (this is my least favorite thing about these). Restarting, after it has been run previously (even over night) and not disconnected from the propane source is one or two pulls max.

I use them for my travel trailer. One, by itself, will run everything on the trailer except the microwave and AC, including charging the battery, on low idle mode. One will run the microwave on high idle.

Only time I need two in parallel is to run the AC on the trailer. I keep them at the house for emergencies when not camping. I decided to buy two of these instead of one larger gen that would run the trailer AC, because I knew that I would rarely run the AC, so why deal with the extra weight, noise, and fuel all the time.

95% of the time, one running at low idle is all I need. I have never run out of propane with them so I can’t say how long they last on a single tank, but it would be alot of hours. I’m pleased with my purchase.

Bought this for several reasons: use on propane, price, size/weight. Upon receipt found it difficult to remove the side panel to fill with oil. instructions seem clear (remove screws and pull up), but I was afraid I might damage the retainers as they are plastic.

Once cover removed, figured I would see how easy to perform other routine service. Never could get the air filter cover removed as a cable and frame were in the way. Filling with oil seemed easy, but removing was going to be a mess.

The drain for the carburetor was not accessible. After looking it over, I decided it wasn’t for me. Boxed it up and returned it.

I am very pleased testing the performance of the A-iPower Dual Fuel Inverter. Both gasoline and propane modes delivered 125 volts with no load. With a 500 watt load it measured 123. 5 volts with which I was very pleased.

The propane ran very smoothly and quietly especially compared to my 1999 gas generator. The gas fuel ran a little louder with a very minor hesitation every 20 seconds or so with the 500 watt load. The idle feature is nice when not running a load for a few minutes.

In 50 degree weather using the choke hindered starting the gas engine and it started immediately turning the choke off. My old 1999 generator was much louder with more and heavier hesitations with voltage highly varying typically at 135 volts which concerned me regarding running a modern electronic refrigerator.

I am very pleased to have the option of gas or propane.

I bought two of these 200961 inverters to use in parallel and I couldn’t ask for better results. On both propane and gas, it starts on one pull in the choke position and then I can usually switch it to its running position while it’s still choking so that it’ll begin running as normal without having to pull the recoil handle anymore.

So that’s great; just one pull altogether to start the inverter from cold. They are also the lightest 2500 inverters I’ve been able to find, but yet they still feel very rugged and durable. The manual is very well written as well and customer service was helpful in sending me the high-altitude jets for free at my request.

I bought the 50-amp Parallel Kit (Model #100319) and it works great with the inverters. I’m going to make my own mount for the Parallel Kit though as only one clamp will fit around the inverter handle.

So far, in parallel, I have used them to run circular saws, sanders, miter saws, and even with a transfer switch into my house. I also bought the Storm Shields (Model #100603) so I can use the inverters in rainy weather; they were tricky first getting them setup, but after the first time it’s easy.

Some other highly recommended accessories are (1) the 25ft 30-amp extension cord (Model #48034)(Note: you need parallel kit for this), (2) Runleader Tach/Hour meter (to keep track of runtime for the maintenance schedule), (3) 10mm Nut Driver (for parallel kit, removing ground nut), (4) STA-BIL Storage Fuel Stabilizer (I’ve been running my inverters with this in the gas so if I end up storing my inverter for a length of time, there won’t be any gumming or fuel separation), and (5) Briggs & Stratton SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Small Engine Motor Oil (you’ll need this or another type of recommended oil after running the inverter for its 5 hour break-in period).

Overall, I am very pleased with this inverters. Along with the accessories, it makes a very solid power supply for a wide-range of applications no matter the weather. #sweepstakes.

I live in an older neighborhood with large trees and I typically lose power a few times per year. I only need something that can run my gas furnace, refrigerator, a few lights, TV and charge phones. I tested it and this generator runs everything at the same time without a hitch.

I don’t want a generator that can power my whole house which would use much more fuel. I did purchase a Voltec 04-00215 adaptor to make use of the RV plug for connecting extension cords to. I am impressed by the build quality of this generator.

You do need to add oil before first use, not included. You must remove two metal brackets on the generator before using. If you don’t remove them, the engine is locked to the frame and the generator might vibrate and move around.

Follow the included instructions. It started on it’s first pull outside in cold weather!.

This was supposed to be a great generator for a good price. I think I got a damaged one. It would not sit flat on the ground, like the metal frame was warped. Then I noticed scratches and a few other components were not aligned properly.

Sadly, I discovered this after re-jetting the carburetor and adding synthetic oil and gas. Also, it was not as quiet as I had hoped. Instructions were great though, and it ran my trailer AC unit and microwave without a problem.

The thing won’t start. No spark. it’s probably going back next week. It has 17oz of syn oil. Non ethanol gas. Gas on, switch on, choke in all positions. Held the spark plug wire in my hand while someone pulled cord.

Barely felt a jolt.

The generator looks great and starts on the second pull like everyone says in their reviews. Yes, you also need to provide your own oil for the first start up and high octane fuel. The reason for the one star is because on break in, the generator would only run 5 min before shutting itself off.

I tried multiple times to get it to stay running to no success. I called the help number and waited about 15min. The help person was great and we were not successful with getting it running. I was told it was a defective electronics and they told me to return the device.

Not only was the generator defective, the spark plug was put in so tight that the tool broke trying to remove it. I even tried using my tools to remove it and no success. Due to the reliability of this generator when it’s brand new, I decided to return it and get a different brand.

I can not have a generator that I’m always worried about not working.

Received my 2350 watt inverter generator in 3 days. Filled with oil and gasoline, followed the recommended startup procedures and it started on the second pull. Ran it for a couple of hours without any load for the recommended break-in process.

After that, I changed the oil and filled it with synthetics. Tried to see how it runs under load so I ran a variety of equipment. A 120v hand drill ran fine in ECO mode. I tried my 1000/1800 watt heat gun and it ran fine in ECO mode on the low setting.

On the high setting it ran for a few seconds in ECO mode then, the RPM picked up automatically at the 1800 watt load. It maintained that load for quite a while until my test was over. Very satisfied with the purchase.

After the test I took off the side panel and used the installed drain tube to drain all fuels from the fuel tank and from the carburetor. Really nice feature as leaving fuel in the system will cause issues with time.

The only thing I would improve is the fastening of the side panel. It is very easy to cross thread the 4 fastening screws so, doing it slow and carefully is the key. There is also a control switch position, when selected will shut the fuel flow off until the machine runs out of fuel.

That is nice as it leaves the carburetor gasoline-free but, the tank would still have fuel in it. With my last generator it was the tank rubber seal gasket that fell apart due to leaving fuel there for extended periods of time.

So, unless the generator is frequently used, best practice is to drain the fuel from the tank and the carburetor.

Great product for the price! I’ve been running it 24/7 for a week now it’s awesome! Read the instructions! I overfilled the oil so it smoked and didn’t open the gas air valve in the cap so it killed every few minutes.

Once I realized it was user error / laziness on my part for not reading the instructions I fixed my mess ups and it’s running like a champ! Best deal on a generator out there! It’s quiet but does get a little loud under a heavy load.

I keep it on eco so it does fluctuate. It burns a little more gas than the Honda but it’s $1,000 cheaper. I would recommend this generator to my friends.

The long and the short of it is although this generator is on the heavy side, it is one the best inverter generatos on the market. Direct competition to the Honda 3000i, this iQ3500 is quieter, has more features, looks better and is half the price.

I purchesed my iQ3500 to power our 30A Springdale 5th wheel camper and I couldn’t be more pleased. I wanted a generator that would power the RV properly, but even higher on the priority list was the sound – I wanted a very quiet generator.

This generator is deffinietly quieter than all 3 of the Honda inverter generator’s in the groups we’ve camped with so far. I spent weeks reading and watching reviews on a plethora of different generators and these Generac’s were consistently in the top.

The only complaints with them was weight and some reporting poor quality control, however, I guess I got a good one. The fit and finish is exactly what you’d expect from an American made product. I love the looks of this thing, the fuel gauge, output readings, estimated remaining run time, electric start, very strong Econo Mode and the 30A plug.

This unit runs the entire RV in Econo Mode with no problem at all. It kicks the A/C on without issue (no soft-start installed) – just a slight dimming of the RV lights when it kicks in as you’d expect.

With a little over 200hrs on ours so far, here’s what we’ve found: -Super super quite for a gas powered machine. -Rated at 14hrs run time at 25% capacity – we are easily able to achive this with the RV if we’re not using the A/C.

-Rated at 9hrs run time at 50% load, we usually still see 12hrs with lots of A/C use. -I only run premium fuel in it and it starts perfectly every time, it’s even easy to start with the pull-rope. -It is also very easy to maintain.

I highly recommend this Generator.

The iQ3500 Generac generator is awesome. It provides superior power while maintaining the low noise output of the 2000-2500 Watt generators. I slept like a baby with the generator 2 feet from my truck camper.

It had no problem handling the load of my internal/external lighting, refrigerator, water pump, coffee maker and air-conditioner all at the same time. It ran for 12. 5 hours straight on a full tank of gas.

The only con is the weight of the unit. It can be handled by one person, but you can’t carry it to far. Also if you are small, you may need a cart to get it where you need it. Considering the versatility, power output, and low noise profile (impressive), I would buy again it is well worth the money.

I always like to start with the one star reviews when purchasing anything over $1k. For the most part on this site it seems as though those reviews are one off type issues with many having nothing to do with the integrity of the generator.

I bought my Honda at Camping World about 4 years ago to use in the discovery, set up and operation of a mining claim l work 8 months of the year. We keep it covered against sun, rain and snow but it’s still outdoors.

The first year I carried it on my quad, frequently using it to power lights, power tools, water pumps as well as a coffee pot, hot plate and radio. It has never let me down. Once, a defective ratchet strap that was holding the generator on my quad broke and when I slowed to take a corner the generator was thrown into the curve tumbling end over end about 20 feet.

Picked it up, dusted it off and it started right up. I’ve worn grooves into the plastic housing around the pull cord starting the generator from every angle possible and usually starting on the first pull.

That said, the pull cord is all I’ve had to replace in terms of parts. In 4+ years I’ve changed the oil 3 times which consisted of emptying it out and putting fresh oil in. I use conventional 30wt oil from Honda.

I continue to clean the original air filter twice a year. During the off season the generator powers our 32ft travel trailer with no issues. It isn’t big enough to run the AC although it once helped to run it when I purchased the Predetor 2000 from Harbor Freight along with the kit to run them parallel.

The Honda has outlasted the Predetor, a dual fuel Champion and is currently backing up a Predetor 6500 which really only runs the AC or my large shop air compressor. This generator is a fantastic product that is reliable enough to provide consistent power under the worst conditions whenever needed.

Smartly used, ie LED lights and low wattage appliances and tools and the less than one gallon of gas will last almost 9 hours. Use the eco feature and half load and you’ll be pleasantly surprised how well it does.

This little generator is what I expected. It starts easily, is pretty quiet and it’s easy to carry. I also appreciate that you can cut off fuel from the fuel tank, but continue to let the engine run until the fuel in the carburetor has been used up.

But. the crankcase breather heater kit (which I purchased separately and is necessary to operate the unit in cold weather) was more difficult to install than I had expected. Seems like Honda should either a) provide the breather heater pre-installed, b) make it easier to install or c) revise their design so that the breather tube won’t ice up in cold weather.

One more minor complaint: The oil fill neck is almost horizontal. This means that only a tiny amount of oil needs to be added between the point where oil is just visible at the far end of the neck and when it is overflowing out the neck.

I suggest Honda make the oil fill neck a little more vertical. That would give you a little more time to stop adding oil before it overflows. But maybe that’s just me, though.

I just spent 2 weeks deer hunting in a canvas wall tent using the Honda EU2200i. All I can say is if you can afford it, you will not regret buying it. I absolutely love it for the ease of starting, quiet operation, fuel economy, and reliability.

My best acquisition for both camping/hunting and our frequent storms here in Louisiana. Why run a noisy 8hp generator sucking 5 gls of gas a night when I can run a room window AC on this for less than a gallon? Easy to convince your wife that this purchase isn’t for deer season, it’s really for those nasty storms that take out power when she needs that blow drier for her hair in the morning, or so she can have a quiet night’s sleep with a window air conditioner keeping things cool.

If she complains about cost, tell her after a storm with no electricity for a week or month, she can turn it off if she still thinks it was too expensive and you will sell it. That will never happen, trust me.

My purchase of the Westinghouse igen 4500DFc on July 4, 2022 was a good decision. Something, aside from the fact Westinghouse invented and perfected ac electricity generation, felt right when i viewed this model.

The brand adds authenticity to this timeless masterpiece of consumer level portable generators. The panel with the green lights and the “data center” had me intrigued. Could it possibly function as advertised? Yes, it does.

All the features i studied, zoomed in at, compared, were seemingly pie-in-the-sky offerings until i got the generator and see that they do all function excellently. I won’t ALL CAPS or bold my customer review words to add emphasis but believe me this igen 4500dfc rocks! My first- out of the box- run lasted over 24 hours in “eco-mode” with a varying load @.

5 – 1 Kw. The unboxing itself was a nice experience with only a single issue of an underside mount nut which appears to have turned loose and wss at the bottom of the Styrofoam packaging. A good twist to all 4 -1/2″ SAE mount nuts and it was good to go.

Set up went smoothly. The sound is very quiet. The exhaust surprisingly hot. But low to the ground. And the igen 4500 has a CO2 sensor and shut-off capability which is another benefit to a fully loaded package.

I mean i cannot think of another feature i could want. Except for maybe temperature or some fancy of my obsessive compulsion need to have information and instrumentation to measure critical data. This genny does most of it already.

It tells run time left to no fuel, and accurately adjusts for load variation. It displays Kw output power. It has 2 fuel level indicators and i still cant fogure out how Westinghouse engineers designed the fuel level sensor or float.

There is no indication in the “exploded views” in the accompanying user manual. The User Manual is even impressive. It exudes a level of concern for the users in terms of explaining every detail, every procedure (even for preparing the enclosed key fob to ‘pair’ with your igen).

The manual is thick and contains a seemingly comprehensive parts list with their schematic and mechanical drawings. Step by step set up guides you to start up. You will need to be slightly dexterous with at least basic level of mechanical skill to get the oil in and to hook up and correctly install the battery for electric start.

I hope i got mine right, its tricky and could use a redesign. On my setup battery install and oil fill took about equal time, too much time in my opinion at roughly 10-15 mins each task. And i made the mistake of overfilling the oil strait out due to the accompanying screw in funnel that you get which is good but.

you’ll see for yourself. Oil cleanup inside the generators frame can be tricky too so clean up for my tiny overflow took 2 sheets of paper towel and my cell phone on flashlight to see inside the “oil door” to wipe around all the extrusions and surfaces in there below and around the oil dipstick area.

The oil door looks good with a layer of soundproofing material, foam egg carton, attached by adhesive. Lets see if this has longevity but now, i am nitpicking really. The oil door could be a bit larger for my liking, it is a lot of work to do in there for larger sized hands to be asked of, a lot of twisting and turning followed by wiping up in all over.

I sensed to use care and caution so that i would not wind up getting rubs from the hatch edges of the oil door as the edge is plastic and formed to fit an edge rather than say a rolled extrusion softened for the more tender folk suck as myself.

Otherwise be prepared to spend 30-40 mins setting up. Put of the box look is great with an accompanying smaller cardboard box containing a jug of oil (. 6L), a battery tender charger plug and wire, a tool kit, a funnel, and maybe the user manual were in there too.

The key fob comes hooked onto the manual pull start cord and the fob feels good in my hand made of a durable metal with a tiny carbuncle clip. On and off are the only two buttons on the fob. So in conclusion i say its probably the best generator out there today.

I say i am impressed and i hope to remain impressed. They really have (whoever “they’ are) convinced me that they care about producing a very good quality product and that with all their engineering they sincerely with for us to enjoy long lasting lifespan and happy healthy electrical generation for years to come.

We purchased this unit to power our RV/Ice Fishing House combo with a 30 amp outlet. I was really excited to find a unit that ran on both gas / propane AND had a remote start for the cold mornings out on the ice! So far, I’ve put about 5 hours on the unit during the break-in procedure (so note — there is a break in process — read the directions!).

Unit starts easily with electric starter, chain pull, or via remote and powers my RV/Ice House without issue (AC, microwave, TV, etc at same time). Switching from gas to propane is simple and can be done without shutting the unit down (if you already have propane connected).

I didn’t notice any change in performance switching across fuels. I’ve never owned a generator before, but the noise isn’t overbearing and is barely audible when inside the RV. I docked 1 star for two annoyances.

First, I only put in about a gallon of gas at a time as I wanted to run out the gas during break-in. Even though the unit comes with a digital fel gauge, it seemed to have a hard time registering that small – but sufficient – amount of full and showed me on “E” with no time remaining yet the unit kept running and running and running.

Will see if issue persists if I actually fill it full. Second, changing the oil is a bit of a pain. First off, the unit comes empty but does include a bottle of basic SAE 30. I utilized the included oil for break-in and with a plan to switch over to synthetic 5w-30 for better cold temp performance (which is fine/recommended per the manual).

The directions state that the entire bottle of the included oil should be used on the initial fill, but I found that I slightly overfilled the well trying to use up the whole bottle. There is a small plastic plug in the bottom of the unit you can use to drain back out some of the oil, but this is really just for spills and overflow and is still hard to access, leaving oil over some of the interior.

After running for the 5 hours, I switched the oil — and this is the real annoyance — there is no separate oil drain. You have to try to hold the included funnel OVER the oil well and then tip it back out.

Even being careful, it’s awkward to hold the funnel over the top while balancing a 100 lb generator on it’s sides — despite my best efforts, more oil managed to spill, again leaving more oil in the interior compartment.

There are numerous “nooks and crannies” in there, so it’s virtually impossible to wipe up all the oil. So through the first 5 hours, performance seems great and exactly what I wanted and dual fuel flexibility is great as I’d rather carry an extra propane tank than have have gas tank slushing around.

Only complaint is oil changing process. Would buy again!.

Review of Westinghouse 3,700/4,500-Watt Dual-Fuel Inverter Generator (CARB Compliant) Given the number of generator/inverters options in the marketplace, what factors were important in my selecting the Westinghouse 3,700/4,500-Watt Dual-Fuel Inverter Generator? Obviously, capacity had to be in the sweet spot for my intended use.

3700 running watts, 4500 starting watts will handle the critical appliances for the event I have a power failure at my home. And with the apparent increasing risk of power grid failure, this may be a small investment for a measure of security.

I wanted and got a control panel that is quite inclusive, not just a place for a wide range of receptacles. I wanted a LED data screen showing the essential factors: fuel level, remaining run time and power output.

It may seem minor, but very few generator options have a remote start key fob. That was a deal breaker for a guy who makes full use of the tv remote. It’s just a great convenience to add to the electric start on the generator.

I doubt I will use the propane option but if gas stations are closed in an electrical failure it is nice to know I can remove the LP tank from my bbq to power on. Another important consideration is the eco mode which automatically adjusts engine RPM/fuel consumption to what is necessary to provide no more than the load requires.

I wanted and got safeguards like a low oil indicator and an overload protector. But as I read through the User’s Manual, more and more features were revealed. The User Manual itself is worthy of accolades.

I rarely receive a user’s manual so well written, clear, comprehensive. Additionally, perhaps for the less patient, Westinghouse provides a one page Quick Start Guide. But reading the whole Manual is a worthwhile experience.

What other small engine company includes a drain hose on its float bowl to completely remove gasoline? Not only does the generator charge the battery while the engine is running, should you have a more sustained period of non use, Westinghouse provides a small plug-in battery charging cable.

Not intended as a trickle charger, rather the company suggests plugging it in over night, sufficient to charge the battery without overcharging it. Westinghouse provides a small bag of essential tools like a spark plug wrench.

They include a funnel for adding oil. The gasoline tank includes a filter. It just goes on. As time passes, I think I’m going to be very glad I purchased the Westinghouse Inverter Generator.

It’s a nice little generator. With a soft start (I’m using SoftStartRV) it is able to run my 13. 500 BTU/Hr travel trailer AC at 3000ft on LP or gas, but just barely. I get about 5 hrs. out of the 1.

1 Gal gasoline tank when running at 100%. My AC draws about 1700 watts when running, at 1800 watts the generator will trip its internal breaker after a few mins. I have yet to try it at higher altitudes.

The noise is fairly good. More expensive Honda and Cummins gas generators are quieter when running under load, but not by much, and they are considerably larger, heavier and more expensive and do not offer a dual fuel option.

For the price and size, this is the one to beat. However, do note that my generator did not come with the parallel kit as advertised and you can no longer buy them from the manufacturer either (I checked) so you’re on your own putting one together if you want to run two generators in parallel.

Starts easily. Runs smoothly. As other reviewers have noted, the access panel is crazy hard to get off. Did not come with oil like many other generators do. But, mine is MUCH louder than advertised. DuroMax website claims 52 dB.

Measured mine at 68dB at idle. Have inquired as to how to get mine serviced. Other than that, it’s just fine. Seems like a good product if you can put up with the noise level. I’m a professional engineer with many years of measurement experience.

This is my third DuroMax Inverter Generator from Factory Pure. I now have the XP2300IH, the XP4500IH, and the XP9000IH. I power everything in my house with my DuroMax XP13000HX, except my sensitive electronics on a separate 30 amp 120 volt circuit.

I power this with my XP4500IH; or, to a lesser extent the XP2300IH with low load. I use the XP9000IH to power everything in our 600SF “tiny house”. Factory Pure and DuroMax are the best!.

Very happy with this little generator. I bought this ahead of hurricane season and just for its intended purpose, Ian came along and killed the power for two days. It kept our essentials running without breaking a sweat and it does so with amazing fuel efficiency.

During the night, only running a fan in the bedroom and our french door fridge/freezer (which is energy star), it ran all night on 3/4 of a tank which is less than 2 gallons. Very quiet, my neighbor’s big contractor style monster was drowning it out from over the fence.

Keep it away from the house, as you should, and it’s barely noticeable under a light load, nothing that will keep you up at night. My only recommendation is to change the oil well before the manual’s recommendation.

The break in period according to the manual is 25 hours and that’s good practice to maintain it with a low amp load for that time, however, I changed the oil at 7 hours and that 20 oz of a Amsoil small engine oil I put in it was BLACK after 7 hours.

That’s to be expected as it breaks and burns off all the manufacturing gunk out of the internals of the engine. After I refilled it however, When checked it periodically the oil was very clean all the way through the 35 hours I put on it through the outage.

They have these dipsticks that have magnets on the end available for it but I’m more worried about that magnet falling off into the engine than the $5 or so to change the oil more often which probably does it better.

Anyway, great machine and especially for the price. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again.

Bought this Predator 3500 generator to replace a loud portable 5KW generator we’ve used for years as emergency power. This Predator is quiet and provides enough power for camping or RV air conditioner use.

Only had it a couple weeks. I haven’t had the opportunity to fully test its capability and performance. I did run the generator to verify that it worked as advertised, running it for a couple hours over several days with a light electrical load.

Set up of the included battery was easy. Used manual start with a pull cord the 1st startup; then, the electrical start worked very easily. Don’t know how long the battery will last and don’t know if the generator provides a charge to the battery.

it is not discussed in the owners manual. I am concerned about the generator performance. when i ran it for the first 30 minutes, the generator “overload” light came on without any load and the generator motor sputtered and died.

Oil and gas checked ok so i restarted the generator and it ran with intermittent changes to RPMs without any load, and at times it seemed to want to sputter and die again. That is why i ran it over several days to see if the issue continued.

It appears that the more i ran the motor the more even it became. Hopefully, this will not be an issue going forward. The only other drawback is the weight at 104 pounds (without fuel). It is a little heavier than i want, but the power it provides was the deciding factor.

We purchased this generator after a storm knocked out power in our neighborhood, and the power co expected it to be out for 5 days. Our requirements were pretty simple: 1) power our refrigerator, 2) an 8000btu AC window unit or a space heater, 3) internet gateway, WiFi router, TV, & streaming box, and 4)a lamp and device chargers.

We camped in our bedroom and had all the comforts we needed for a 6 day outage. The generator itself was easy to set up. I filled it with oil, mixed the gas and stabil, filled the tank, and plugged in the extension cords.

We were pulling 1500 watts max which was within the recommendations for break in period. It ran for 10hrs overnight without needing fuel. The unit is really quiet, significantly more so than our neighbor’s, which kept us up all night the first night we were without power.

Electric start is handy, although I used the pull to start it the first time and it only took 2 pills for its first startup. This is my first generator. I’d say go for this over the 2000 watt model just for the overhead.

Running the generator, or any engine for that matter, at a lower load will be more reliable than pushing one to the max for your needs. I’d prefer a whole-home generator, but the price of this model is a lot less than one of those installed.

The maintenance and warranty language seems a bit intense, but we’ll do it and take care of the unit.

Purchased this generator for general purpose around the construction site and potentially for home back up power but it is rare to have an outage in this part of CA. The generator does deliver the stated amount of continuous output power of just slightly over 13 Amps.

Didn’t test the surge performance but based on how it does seem to struggle a little while loaded to 1600W, I don’t think there is much headroom for surge, certainly not with the eco throttle ON. Perhaps when the eco throttle is OFF with the motor running at full RPM.

Overall, for less than half the price of NAME brand generators this is a very good value. I also like the L5-30 twist lock receptacle, it allows the use of a splitter cable that converts to 2 regular 20 amp receptacles so multiple tool battery chargers can be plugged in etc.

Noise level is very low. Starting is fairly easy, though usually takes more than one pull, sometimes up to 5. Average is 2-3 pulls and not very consistent. In other words, it doesn’t matter if its hot or cold.

It MAY start with one pull or not. Have not tested fuel consumption over a long period of time so I have to assume the stated run time is accurate. If you are planning on using this generator regularly, it would be a good idea to use a premium synthetic oil.

I bought this generator because of it’s compact design that will easily go on my boat for power. I used it before my 2000 mile trip to power tools and accessories repairing and upgrading my boat. One day it was running fine and the next day will not start.

Changed the plug, Gas is the same in the tank, oil level is fine. Still nothing. This is not what I need when I’m 20 miles out on the water and require immediate power. So disappointing. Great price, but I guess you get what you pay for.

After reading the reviews for several brands of Inverter Generators I was impressed with the DuroMax XP9000iH Dual Fuel Inverter Generator and purchased one as a home backup system (Note that the Inverter types are cleaner even though a little more expensive).

The generator was delivered timely, and was fully assembled. I followed the “Generator Setup” guide in the manual, which was easy to follow. I just had to connect the negative battery cable, add oil, gas, connect the propane bottle, and attach a copper ground wire/rod which I purchased separately online, and which came with an attached No.

12 AWG stranded copper wire. I was able to have it started and running in a few minutes simply by pushing the start button. I was surprised, being a non-technical person, how easy it was to get the generator started and running.

The noise level of the generator is very low. I also purchased online a 30 amp 4-Prong Twist-Lock 10 gauge 50 ft extension cord that splits into four surge protected 120 volt outlets and tested it on our freezer, fan, coffee machine, and lamps.

The power supply was great! I tested using both gasoline and propane (I used my gas grill propane bottle). I’ll get some more extension cords later for the two additional GFCI 120 volt outlets on the generator.

I’m going to eventually get a transfer switch installed in my home so that I can use the ATS Plug that’s on the generator, and connect directly to the house. I also like the fact that the generator has a Carbon Monoxide (CO) alert system which shuts down the generator if it detects a CO build up.

Just remember when using or testing your generator to keep it outside, and away from doors and windows. With my new DuroMax XP9000iH inverter generator, I now feel prepared for the Hurricane Season which begins in a few weeks on June 1st.

I would recommend this inverter generator to anyone in the market for one.

Received this today and was prepping for a test start tomorrow. Let me start by saying my findings are not a big deal, it just caused unnecessary hassle. The “tool kit” was missing the smaller spanner which I assume fit the battery terminal nut so I had to dig thru my metric sockets to find the right one to connect the negative cable.

The provided screwdriver is also useless (too long) at least for tightening the terminal screw. Maybe it will have another use–we’ll see. There was no metric socket provided for the cover screws so that was another dig thru my sockets to find the right one.

I can’t really ding for this since it doesn’t look like it was intended to be provided in the tool kit anyway but it should be. I also noted that the S/N on the box doesn’t match the stamped S/N on the engine.

For warranty purposes, I provided the number stamped on the engine–hope that was the correct one to provide! Looking forward to cranking it up tomorrow using propane. I should also mention that a fishing buddy of mine recently bought this same model and he loves it–quiet and plenty of power.

The goal was to power two refrigerator freezers and a large salt water reef aquarium. The generator ran for 10 hours using propane from a standard bbq style tank. Tank was half full after ten hours. No problems at all during the night and very happy with performance.

I’ve used every size propane tank from 2 gallon to 250 gallon, and the generator starts instantly every time. The electric start always works, no matter how long I’ve ignored my maintenance duties. Its 5500 watts is more than I need to power my house, shop, and four freezers.

I’ve had this generator for three years now, and it’s outperformed all of the seven generators I’ve owned since 1980. Duromax is one of the best corporations I’ve ever done business with.

way in back. Our power went out for 24 hrs. Yesterday. I dug it out of the back. tires still inflated. but mice have taken it over nest everywhere. I blew it all out with a leaf blower. the battery start was dead of course.

but fingers crossed on 2nd pull on manual start it cranked right up. and ran amazing. this has been in shed. with single digit Temps and over 100 degree Temps for over 6 yrs. and it cranked no problem.

if you are looking for a reliable generator. look no further than this brand. Absolutely amazing. will recommend.
