I am replacing an older Xantrex unit that cost $1200 about 8yrs ago with this unit. I called Xantrex and asked them why the units are so different and they told me this new type of unit has different technology.

So this is not my first rodeo when it comes to solar inverters. Having said that there were some things I wish the seller had done better. 1) you need to also buy an inline ANL-250amp fuse. The seller does not indicate that.

You basically find that out after you buy the product and then read the instructions. You can get them on Home Essentials Direct for $13 for the fuse and the holder. But better also get a couple extra fuses.

2) the instructions say you need #0 (pronounced Aut) gauge wire, but the box the inverter comes in says #4 gauge. It is very difficult to find #0 gauge wire and when you do its $5/foot unless you want to buy 25 feet of it.

My original solar power setup had double #2 gauge wire so I figured the #4 wire recommended on the box the inverter came in was going to be too small. The lower the number, the thicker the wire. This system needs thick wire if you read the other reviews, so dont try to go cheap.

Get the thickest wire possible – #0 gauge. But here the box and the instructions dont match when it comes to the recommended wiring required. And you will have to hunt around to marine and RV dealers to find #0 gauge wire – and the big copper end plugs.

3) you also need to find #6 gauge wire to use for the grounding connection. If you connect the ground wire to the chassis of the RV or a grounding point in your boat you will need wire and end connectors for that.

This does have GFCI outlets, which most of the cheap Chinese models do not. GFCI plugs are like the ones you have in the bathroom wall for plugging in your hair dryer so you dont electrocute yourself by accident.

If the outlet senses a short caused by water the outlet fuse will trip and you wont get killed. This is a must have if you plan to use an inverter in a boat or RV where condtions could be damp. Alternatively you could buy a GFCI extension plug I suppose.

The unit has been in place and running for 24 hours now and so far no issues. I am running with Four 6-Volt deep cycle batteries configured to produce 12-volts. Each battery has 225 amps. That is enough power to run a small A/C unit, TV, computers, fans, etc.

and not get a power shutdown because the batteries are drained. But it does put a real strain on the system if you try to run a coffee maker, microwave, or 800 Watt A/C unit. This is better for running small electronics, like TVs, computers and such and occassionally running a coffee maker or microwave.

if you need to run heavy electronics like a fridge, washing machine, etc then this unit would be too small.

I have TWO! One Ive been using since 2019, and a brand new in box back-up. Been in Gods god grace that this machine is like normal house energy and have worked EVERYTHING in the house (except water heater that we dont use) but the coffeemaker, microwave if needed, air fryer if needed, fridge all day long.

Fans, PCs, TV, etc! Dont know if its just hate from other reviewers, but compared to Aims inverters (which to me are PURE garbage! ) these Xantrex 2000s are the best in its class! Ask my whole family!.

I bought this to replace a 1,100 Watt Modified Sine Wave Inverter I installed in our travel trailer a couple of years ago because a pure sine wave inverter is better for the electronics in the trailer, etc.

This was an easy swap out of the previous unit installed in the basement of our trailer, since I had previously installed all necessary cables for the old MSW unit. I also bought the remote switch and it was virtually identical to the remote switch I had for the old inverter.

I do not try to power the entire trailer–instead I had previously installed one standard house-type outlet as a dedicated inverter outlet. So, if I need to run something on the inverter I just run an extension cord from the device to this dedicated inverter outlet.

After install the unit powered up as it should and works great so far, although I have not had any really heavy loads on it. It is a solid unit. I no longer have access to an oscilloscope, so I have no way of verifying how pure the sine wave is, but other reviewers have posted such pictures.

At this point I am very happy with it and if anything happens to change my feelings about it I will update this review.

I tested this inverter while doing some camping. Good to charge phones, tablets, reason for the 1 star rating since I can charge devices without it, however when it came time to use the inflatable bed, it couldnt power the small air inflator.

Not even with the car running would it start. Very disappointed. Never really go wrong with dewalt but in this case total fail.

I love all my Dewalt products and this one is no exception. More compact than my previous inverter but performs the same functions and cheaper than most others on Amazon.

This is one the the very few that can sustain a phone and a laptop at the same time. Other brands have a fan that buzzes and they cut off the power due to overload, although they have the same wattage rating as this dewalt one.

140W. This has no fans and works very well.

Have been using this since last August. Smooth and quiet operation. Has been sitting outside in a ventilated but water proof cabinet. This was a mild winter, so there were no temperature issues. I have the output running to an AC / USB charging station that we use for keep all our portable devices (phones, tablets and battery packs).

My only regret is that it uses about. 5A when idling, so when the sun is low, my 150W solar panel does not produce enough juice to do anything useful. I do have a timer that disconnects the Inverter from the battery at fixed times, which I adjust now and then as the amount of sun changes.

Update: July 2016 Since my original review, I have employed an MPPT charge controller which has made better utilization of the inverter. Recently, I put on a load of something less than 250Watts, and the inverter complains and the frequency regulation is interrupted so much that the Cyberpower UPS that is being supplied by the inverter signals “bad power” and a power frequency failure.

The UPS has been set to the “low sensitivity” mode, that works just fine when I use my outdoor generator during a power outage – and that one does not claim to be pure sine wave. So, I have reduced the rating from 5 down to 4, and I am now looking into getting a higher power inverter.

This inverter works very well. The fan is loud, but the inverter is fantastic. When my power went out, I hooked a schumacher xi75du to a fresh car battery. I ran two 6 outlet surge protectors off the inverter.

I ran my entire living room easily!! The inverter ran all night without 1 issue. I tested with the following electronics all at once for over an hour. Lamp with three cfl bulbs. 46″ lcd tv. xbox one.

netgear 3000 modem. phone charger. harmon kardon 254 avr amplifier. laptop. oscillating fan. polk audio 10″ sub. I didnt run the amplifier or sub at full blast, but they were definitely loud enough for some fantastic gaming!! The unit didnt clip, and ran very well.

I even had internet!! Long story short, this will work very well. The majority of users will love this thing. However, this isnt a heavy duty inverter and you shouldnt expect to run a concrete mixer on it.

If you are doing heavy duty work, spend the money and get a professional unit.

My neighbors have installed these natural gas emergency generators at a cost of thousands of dollars. This emergency electrical converter with battery power costs less than $100. 00 and will power a refrigerator and another outlet for a microwave or toaster oven.

Pile on the blankets to stay warm and with my refrigerator and toaster oven, my family will be fine after a storm.

Hooked this up to the battery and powered it on. Plugged my mini fridge in with an amp rating of 1. 5 amps (180 watts) motor start up is usually double the amperage so 360 watts. Immediately the unit started smoking and blew internal fuses.

I threw my clamp on meter on the hot leg at start up it pulled 4 amps or 480 watts running was about 200 watts. This unit was rated at 750 watts with 1500 short burst max (to compensate motors starting) and could not run a 180 watt mini fridge.

I am a certified electrician in the state of Indiana so you tell me what the problem was user or unit? Don’t buy this unit. Only upside was Wal-Mart refunded me my entire purchase price plus shipping.

We purchased this item for keeping a laptop charged during long car trips. It works very well for that purpose. Unfortunately it seems to give off an extremely bad interference. It makes the car radio buzz unbearably loud.

Not being able to use the radio and charge at the same time massively defeats its utility. We have two cars and it seems to do the same thing in both. Maybe it’s defective?.

I have two laptop computers (1 work and 1 play) and an iPhone. I purchased this item to power a laptop computer and iPhone during a 5 hour road trip (only one laptop at a time, not both). The laptop power supply requires 90 watts and 5 amps.

The inverter is rated at 140 watts and 13 amps. The inverter malfunctioned after about an hour and a half. The laptop started cycling through a connected/disconnected icon indicating it wasn’t getting enough current to properly charge the battery.

Disconnecting and re-connecting the inverter didn’t solve the issue. I tried all three connectors in a Chevy Suburban without success. I exchanged the product and tried to use it with the other laptop on the way home.

The power supply for the second computer (from a different manufacturer) also requires 90 watts. The replacement inverter malfunctioned after about 4 hours of use; same symptoms. Both computer power supplies work properly under home power.

This product may be a good choice for powering/recharging netbooks, mobile phones and tablets, but it’s not good for laptops based on my experience. I’ll be returning this unit for store credit and purchasing a more capable inverter.

Kudos to Walmart Customer Service. The people in their Marble Falls, TX, store were very nice and allowed me to exchange the product during the trip, even though I didn’t have my receipt.

This handy sleek device lets you convert (or I guess technically invert) power from your car through the cigarette lighter to the device, which allows it to charge your device(s). It’s nice when you’re going on a road trip, without it being very bulky like other inverters can be.

And, it even adjusts to different angles to help suit different cars and still be used very well. (It rotates from the bottom of the square part- not sure of the technical name- I just know it works great for me.

) It has an outlet and a USB port to charge your devices. Also when I went on a trip and charged my laptop from the outlet, my mom’s phone from the usb, and my phone from my laptop’s usb, they all charged efficiently and the plug didn’t short out or anything.

Essentially all that boils down to this: It will charge at least 2 devices, it’s adjustable, it works great, and it looks pretty darn cool in my opinion.

Exact replacement for 2006 Fleetwood, easy install in less than 20 minutes. Original inverter lasted over 16 years so figured I would stay with what worked so well before.

This unit was a direct replacement for the one in my motorhome. I didn’t want to change brands because the remote was for this brand and unit. It was basically a plug and play and it works perfectly.

All over the box it says you can run it off your vehicle. After the package is opened, there is a sticker on the unit that says not for use with automotive batteries. Use deep cycle only. So I bought it for nothing.

It also says not for marine use. That’s where you find deep cycle batteries. Useless for any normal application.

Replaced my 14-year-old prosine 2. 0 with this. Pretty comparable but the remote functions arent nearly as good as the prosine 2. 0. My biggest gripe is the remote times out after 30 seconds, the display turns off and you have to press one of the buttons to get it to wake up and then its back at the home screen not the last thing you were looking at.

Its one of those lovely things were they have 100 functions controlled by only four buttons, so unless you have the instruction manual youre screwed. The power and the battery charger seem to be right on their specifications.

The transfer switch seems even quicker than the prosine. Theres two 150 amp fuses internally in parallel (300 amps) so you dont need a big giant fuse block like I had to have for the Prosine. Installing 10 gauge wire into the AC quick connects is a nightmare unless you solder (tin) tightly twisted wire ends or have crimped on ferrule ends.

All in all when you consider the price the all metal construction a remote that cost less than $100, included DC fuses its about the best value out there for a pure sine wave inverter with a 80 amp battery charger.

Hopefully since its such a new model some of the remote gripes I had will be updated with newer firmware versions.

Installed this in my toy hauler to replace the factory float charger and to provide 120vac for some appliances when not on shore power. The multistage charger charges the batteries fast and automatically goes to float once charged.

It easily provides enough inverter power to make coffee with our Keurig and also runs the microwave and TV. The display is easy to read and keeps you informed of the status or inputs and battery. So far we love it.

I expect it to last years based upon the quality and design. It is critical to follow the instructions and to use the proper AWG of wire especially to the batteries. It will not work if you try and get away with thinner AWG wire than what they recomend.

I had the Prowatt SW 2000 from Xantrex and it worked great, but found out that my 15 amp charger took forever to charge up the bank 4- 6volt batteries. Found that I have to spend $250-300 to get a charger that will do 35amps! So, I moved the Prowatt inverter to my enclosed trailer and replaced it with the Freedom XC 2000 in the coach.

With the included switching it takes up less room and charges my battery bank at a max of 80amps!! Cutting my charge time by a ton!!!.

As others have noted, it’s the voltage many of us feel are misleading about the product. I agree people complaining about trying to power a 1500 watt item should be able to read a clear description of 150 watts on box/product/marketing and those complaints aren’t justified.

Many of us tried to do our research and power items that are 120v and less than 150 watts and the product doesn’t work. apparently because it’s a 120v outlet design, but not 120v output (only 70-90 and some saying consistently 80).

For specific and limited uses the product works fine so giving 2 stars. but EGO should do a much better job providing clear voltage limitations. I would never have purchased the product now that I understand the limitations.

but tempted to keep it. which make the entire process more frustrating to me. It makes me feel like EGO is purposely using a bait and switch tactic but communicating clearly in customer support but NOT communicating clearly in packaging/marketing.

The fact I know I’m likely going to keep the product (because of my other EGO tools) but only own this particular product because I was mislead leaves me feeling like a loyal but disgruntled (and used) customer.

If EGOs goal is to sell more products the lack of clear marketing/limitations fooled me (and apparently many others) so I guess it’s working. but if you value your customer base you need to make some changes.

I’ve had it for a few weeks and using it to recharge a USB fan, phones, and other simple applications while camping. So far I’m displeased with the cost vs. value. My iPhone11 barely got any charge that I could tell on both weekends I’ve used it.

The USB fans I use for camping may have gotten a little bit of charge but I’m not positive. After 2 nights and 1. 5 days, the EGO 2. 5AH battery was depleted, my phone battery was also depleted, and also the USB fans.

I’m trying it one more weekend because this was my mobile recharge solution I wanted to use but planning on being very cautious about relying on it since I’ve had bad luck so far. On a side note, I’d call the support line but I’ve already tried twice for the battery recharger that came with my hedge trimmer kit and waiting on the line for a few hours.

I finally gave up trying to call them. Overall happy with their products. Not happy with the power inverter and the long waits for customer service.

After watching YouTube video reviews, I discovered that the 120 v AC output is not a sine wave but a square wave pulse. That’s why folks aren’t seeing 120V with a regular voltmeter. Maybe a True RMS voltmeter will show 120V.

That square wave output is not good for some products, it may cause some motors and transformers to buzz. and could shorten the lives of capacitors used to smooth out the rectified voltage & the high harmonic output could cause noise on electronic devices.

I like the form factor and would buy one if it put out a true sine wave especially if it could handle the startup current surge of a motor over 150W. I could see no mention of the fact the output was not a sine wave, even when looking at the spec sheet in the manual, of course if it had a sine wave output that would be printed on the box and spec sheet for sure.

I didn’t buy. Make a sine wave version and I’ll pick it up.

This is a very nice inverter at a good price. It easily handles every reasonable load I have thrown at it, as well as a couple of unreasonable ones. My one nitpick involves the power button. it is small and in a tight / inconvenient location.

It is push-button and you have to hold it briefly to activate power instead of just pressing it quickly. An instant-on or, better yet, a rocker switch in a more convenient location would be much better.

The inverter does include a remote switch, though, so if the inverter is part of a larger build the switch may not be as much of an annoyance. I especially like the fact that the fan only activates when necessary.

Shipping was quick. One of the main reasons I chose this inverter from many others like it online is that Eastwood stands behind it and I know if I have any issues there is a reputable company to contact.

Installed in our camper as a power source for running a small TV, charging cell, pad and computer batteries and for running the fridge while underway. Our 2007 Dometic fridge draws around 350 watts/3 amps @ 120vac from the inverter and is safer than running LP for the fridge while towing.

It draws around 30 amps @ 12vdc with its small duty cycle, and the truck a!t can easily supply this. While boondocking, we have two portable 50 watt solar panels as a folding standalone kit that we place in the sun 50 feet away to charge the two deep cycle batteries.

This little 1000 watt inverter has been flawless so far. I also added a shunt and meter to keep track of how much power I am using. The price, fast shipping, (4 day free shipping and $10 off for a new customer) is unheard of for a sine wave inverter at any price.

Because the stock 110v off the arm rest in my 2021 Dodge Durango can’t do anything this was a great addition. They claim 150w and it’s more like 100w. This 1000W can take what ever I can through at it while camping and if I need to help someone broken down it’s always ready to go.

I love the product. There were a few hiccups, but thanks to Brad (coloradostandby) and the technicians from Schneider Electric (Richard) we got it up and running. The problem we had was nothing to do with the product itself, but in its installation.

I have not had the inverter for long so do not want to make a sweeping recommendation yet, but there is excellent technical support and it is running super well at present. What I like the most is that the cooling fans are thermostatically controlled and run only when required; this saves the batteries.

The unit works well while it’s working; but the first one, made in Jan 2015, failed after only two and a half weeks. It went down suddenly with no warning when carrying an uneventful load of about 150W with 13.

65V at the inverter’s own terminals, and both lights started flashing very fast and dimly. I called Xantrex and they said to do a “hard reset” by disconnecting the input and output and turning it on and leaving it for a half hour.

I did that, then reconnected, and got the same thing, so they sent me a warranty replacement, made in Apr 2015. That one only lasted two weeks and then did the same thing! In both cases I transferred the load to a smaller modified sine wave back-up inverter which handled the load just fine.

Very good inverter. I use it to power the lights in a small shop. I also use it will small power tools(drill, angle grinder) and even a shop vac. Highly recommended

It does a great job with my solar system. My system is small and I don’t want the inverter on at all times. It has a. 8 amp idle current. A 100 watt solar panel is 1 amp. Fortunately it comes with a wired remote switch for turning off the inverter to allow the panel to keep the charge on the battery until the inverter is needed again.

Would work even better with multiple panels but for now I am happy.

Great addition to RV. Easy to use remote switch allows installation close to battery and out of sight. Operates all appliances except for refrigerator and AC. Be sure to switch refrigerator to propane mode prior to turning on inverter.

My old 5000w pure sine wave inverter was busted. I had gotten it for about $600 off of ebay and I was not ready to spend that much to replace it. I searched around decided to get this 3500w inverter as I found I normally did not use more than 2000w at any given time.

The box was much lighter than my 5000w inverter and the inverter was quite a bit smaller as well. I was pleased that they included some screw mounted connection cables as that meant I did not have to purchase them separately.

When I hooked everything up, the first thing I noticed was how little current it draws compared to my old 5000w at rest. It was also significantly quieter, even when drawing a 2000w current (running fridge and microwave).

Overall, I’m satisfied with the purchase and will definitely be searching on this website first next time.

I have had one of these for over 2 years now installed under the drivers seat of my 15 Ram pickup and wired to a duplex gfi plug in the console. It puts out enough power to keeps the 3 kids and myself on the go with our electronics while traveling.

Also it will start my oiless air compressor we keep a the lake and camping which surprised the heck out of me. Great inverter and now 1/2 price.

Fits perfect and work like charm. Let’s see how long this last.

I like the layout and design, its nice to have the display as well. Problem is, the one I have will not handle the loads it claims. It will do about 500 watts, anything above that for longer than a minute it shuts itself down.

This has been verified with large cables, the amp draw is not the issue, the unit itself cannot handle it. It will run a 700w microwave for about 10-15 seconds, it seems like its a re-badged 500w unit.

Love all my Schumacher power products. This 760 Watt Refurb works great mounted in the back of my camper van. The design is great looking with it’s slim wall mount design. It fired up my 700 and change Watt 4 cup coffee maker straight off the battery no problem.

So far no problems with overheating, all the functions work as they should. A great deal in my book.

The digital display is the best feature. It tells you how much wattage you are using. It also tells you if the battery supply voltage is under 12 volts. If there is any overload, or battery supply is too low, it will shut off and continually beep until you hit the reset button.

It comes with a 2 year manufacturing warranty, which means it’ll probably last for much longer than that.

It did not work property something was wrong with it right out of the box. I tested the voltage with my fluke meter voltage was all over the place. It was connected to my service truck external wiring 8 gauge.

It blew some fuses with very little loads 700W, 200W etc. I obvious there is no safety protection circuit built into this, other than a fuse. It could not run anything. Returned.

Home solar system – part of a minor in Home solar power set. And it’s been an excellent addition. Low noise, easily readable display & handles assignee loads well.

I gave this and three star because I had no problems with the return process. As for the inverter strongly suggestion do not buy. I purchased this inverter for mine when the unit AC 120 V, after about 20 minutes this inverter would shut off.

This is my second try with an energizer inverter. I would not recommend it.

Bought online, great warrenty. Connected to my camperized van rear battery, plugged in 6 liter Instapot. The Inverter display shows 830 watts during the initial heat up to steam temp (6 minuites?) , then 0 watts (probably intermittant burst on ,).

Battery voltage dropped to under 11 volts when drawing , but back up to 12. 4 when 0 watts and still cooking. I will be buying the smaller Instapot and may preheat the pot on the Gas stove, 100 watt solar panel charges 4 amps so may break even on sunny day.

Seems to work well in the limited use I’ve used it so far. Easily runs my microwave in my camper which is the main high use item I wanted it to run. The remote is a handy feature and nice that it and cables were included.

My only annoyance so far is the +/- cables can only go on one way and it’s opposite of each other, annoying because your cables usually run parallel to each other and this has them going in opposite directions.
