Firstly, one other review exists against this, they gave it 1 star because it didn’t have a phone socket, that is totally unfair, it isn’t the product or the sites fault that the customer doesn’t know what to look for when purchasing a product!!! It does not say anywhere that the device is a modem, so why would they expect it to be? Anyway, this is wireless router, a very very good one with lots of features, high speeds and a long range.

Wired, I get 565mbit download (probably the max my internet goes), two floors up in the attic with a USB dongle, I’m still getting 250mbit+ download. I wanted the full blown AX86U but couldn’t warrant the price, and I’m glad I chose this version as it does everything I need, I’ve a USB drive and an external hard drive attached to the USB ports, it acts as file server, upnp, ftp, samba, even a torrent client (which I tested but don’t really use).

It can also be used as a print server, or to use 3G/4G dongles. You can even set up AICloud to allow access to you data anywhere without require VPN access You can set it up as a VPN server or client.

It allows AIMesh to use other ASUS routers as a mesh network. It has adaptive QOS features including game mode. It has AIProtection that provides advanced security features, such as malicious site blocking, two way intrusion prevention, infected device blocking, and a button that assesses the current security of your device and network.

It has OpenNAT. It has parental controls that allow blocking of specific sites or site types from all or specified clients. You can also set times that the internet is available on a schedule, again per device.

To make it easier, you can also set up groups of devices for both of these features. It has a Traffic Analyser that shows you who has accessed the internet, times they accessed them and the sites they access, caught my son watching youtube at 3am when he had school the day after lol! I’m sure it has many features I haven’t listed too, I’ve only listed the ones I know and use.

It really is an impressive bit of hardware, so again, please ignore the ignorant fool that wrote the 1 star post.

Ok, so this review may sound a little confusing, because although I am having issues with my smart home devices on the 2. 4ghz band of the 86S, the wired and Wi-Fi 6 performance, at least for me, makes up for it.

This is my second go at WiFi 6. My first attempt was with a ASUS 11000 and it was awful. The router would reboot randomly, etc. But this is not a review for that. With this router, for a little over 3 weeks after installing, my smart home had no complaints.

Then this past Monday, I started having smart home devices fall off of the network. I would restart the smart home device, and it would not reconnect. I had to restart the router to resolve the problem, at least until the next time it happened.

After 2 days of troubleshooting (as luck would have it, I was on Christmas vacation), I wasn’t able to determine a root cause. I tried separating the 2. 4 & 5ghz band thinking it was some kind of handshake issue, but that didn’t work.

2. 4ghz devices still dropped off the network once a day or so. I set the router that I had replaced with this device back up as a 2. 4ghz Wi-Fi hotspot by itself, and moved all of my smart home devices back to it.

No issues since late Wednesday afternoon. Wi-Fi 6 and LAN reliability and performance are both superb, but 2. 4ghz backward compatible? I am not so sure. 802. 11ac and ax work great, but any standard before that so far hasn’t been able to maintain and stable connection.

I needed to replace my Cisco (Linksys) E3000 router because I upgraded to a 500Mbit broadband connection and the E3000 router was capping my data throughput speeds to approx 170Mbit per second maximum – meaning I was never going to be able to reach the speeds the new connection was capable of.

With this Asus RT-AX86S I have full 500Mbit per second data throughput with all the features and functionality this router offers. It really is amazing in terms of configurability and being very user-friendly to set up.

It’s quite a bit more expensive than your average home router but the difference it has made to my local network is worth every penny. If you are looking to future-proof your own home network and can afford one of these Asus RT-AX86 routers then I would seriously recommend them.

The RT-AX86S is good for speeds up to 1000Mbit per second and features a dual-core ARM CPU. For broadband connections faster than that you need to be looking at the RT-AX86U version, which is a little more expensive and features a quad-core ARM CPU and additional Gigabit LAN port, but otherwise with basically the same features and functionality as the RT-AX86S model.

I upgraded from the original Google Wifi router to this one. I was not using the mesh capabilities, and will not with this new router. But I had been looking for a router that offered me more control of my network.

This TP-Link AX1800 fits that bill and offers better security with Wifi 6 capability. The initial install went well, and I had my new network going pretty quickly. Accessing the setup pages after the network is setup is a little more finicky than I’d like.

I try to use their website address (which is supposed to be bound to my router configuration page), but it often says that I’m not connected to the TP-Link network. even though I am. I have to clear the browser cache and history, and then it will pick it up.

That and it seems that it doesn’t like Edge browser very much, but seems to work fine in Firefox. But besides those couple of software problems, the network has been fine. I haven’t noticed any speed increase, but I wasn’t expecting any.

I get the maximum that my ISP provides for the price, so I’m happy with that. The only other thing that I was hoping, with the four antennas vs the Google Wifi puck with no visible antennas, is that the microwave would no longer interfere with the signal.

No such luck there. I guess I’d have to get a less “leaky” microwave to solve that problem!.

Got 2 of these routers as part of Google Fiber subscription. Routers/AP supports WiFi Mesh technology, so signal should reach any corner of your home, up to 1900sqft. For my home 1100sqft even one of these works perfectly.

Setup was easy-breezy, using Google Home mobile app. Although, router lacks advanced settings like wifi mode and channel selection, for average casual user this shouldn’t cause discomfort. Design-wise it looks cozy, so you can leave it on the surface, you can even cotrol LED intensity what is well thought for dark environment.

I been paying for charter internet and speed wasnt great even though I was paying for it. Had a tech notion come out and he confirmed my reasons why it wasnt working as fast as it should be. the router.

Their router ran well for 1 level home but at having just moved into a 2 level condo the reach suffered upstairs. So I did some researching and stumbled on mesh routers that handled 2. 5 and 5 ghz networks, but are more on the bit pricey.

Luckily i found one on eBay to test it out and it wouldnt hurt my wallet too much. So far its been great the speed is at maximum and reaches the upstairs easily since its 1,200 sf this 1 mesh point is enough but I could add a second point later if we add more smart home devices which is great because we could move to a larger home and this system would hopefully not be absolute.

Highly recommend it, set up was easy and integrates with other google products.

We had been thinking of Google WiFi for a while, but as we had an extender, we never invested in one. Now with Covid and the whole family online, we thought we needed to enhance our WiFi coverage. Google WiFi with three routers covered the whole house.

The installation was super easy. When we tested, for coverage away from the central unit, the speed was 4 times faster. We are very happy with our Google WiFi.

My old modem started to flake out on me so it was time to replace it. The Motorola AC3200 had all the features I need: fast (DOCSIS 3. 1), 4 ethernet ports, Xfinity ready, and an app for management. NOTE: It is in your best interest to pre-download the Minim App and the Xfinity app (if you are an Xfinity customer) I simply plugged my modem in, punch a code (located on a sticker under your modem) into the app, and waited about 5 minutes for it to do its thing.

On first try, my modem never connected to the internet but that was my fault because (1) I didn’t follow instructions and (2) I forgot that Xfinity requires you to register your modem with them–through the xfinity app.

Once I grabbed the Xfinity app and rebooted the modem everything worked magically after about 10 minutes of Motorola/Xfinity talking to each other. As long as you have the apps ready to go on your phone or tablet you should be fine.

I do not use the wifi on this router. Instead I use a Google mesh wifi. I was VERY PLEASED to see the mesh network automatically come back online about 2 minutes after the modem registered online with Xfinity.

Nonetheless, I intend to use the built-in wifi network as a backup in the event the Google Home wifi goes down. Motorola was smart enough to put stickers on the bottom of the modem with all the info you need to connect to the built-in 2.

4 or 5ghz signal. Our speed tests have improved significantly across all devices and our connection reliability improved dramatically, but again, I suspect something was wonky with my old DOCSIS 3. 0 modem.

This modem is compliant with ISP plans up to 500mbps. 32×8 means you have 32 downstream channels (think “lanes of a highway”) and 8 upstream channels which is critical in households with numerous wifi connected devices.

While the price point for a DOCSIS 3. 1 modem might seem daunting, you will recover that cost given you are no longer renting from your ISP–and you don’t need a separate wifi router as the antennas are baked into the modem.

This modem does NOT support a landline phone connection, however, so if you use a phone service through your ISP this isn’t the modem for you. The Minim app is very friendly and has lots of useful tools and can be monitored when you are away from the network.

The app will give you connected device info, it will help identify threats, has filtering options (security, ad privacy, adult content), speed testing, “today’s top data use” reports, pause/unpause connectivity, “time spent” reports letting you know what sites have been visited and how often/long, change reports & history, etc.

I just received my Motorola 8702 Cable Modem/Router a few days ago and have been putting it through its paces. Inside the box along with the cable modem/router is a power cable, ethernet cord, and couple pages of user documentation.

First I must say, it’s been a while since I’ve used any Motorola equipment and so far, I’m thoroughly impressed with the quality of this cable modem. It’s much taller than my current cable modem (which I just recently purchased), however, it has a nice sleekness to it and amazing build quality.

On the back you will find a USB port, WPS and WLAN buttons (along with a RESET pinhole button), 4 LAN Ethernet ports, COAX connecting point, ON/OFF button, and the power adapter port. On the front panel is where you will find the status LEDs that will let you know what’s currently going on with the cable modem/router.

Now connecting the cable modem/router is fairly simple especially if you’ve done this before. However, I must note that if you are replacing equipment that you may be renting from your ISP or any other cable modem for that matter you must inform your ISP of the MAC address of the cable modem which can be located on the bottom of the device.

Several ISPs (like mine Xfinity), allow the customer to update their hardware online either through their websites or apps. Xfinity allows me to update changes through my Xfinity app, which makes it a lot easier than having to sit and wait on hold forever.

After connecting, everything to the back of the modem I downloaded the Minim app from the App Store (or Google Play Store if you have Android) and followed the prompts to finish setting up my device.

Once the setup process was complete, I started testing out the speed by visiting a few websites on my desktop in the living room and almost immediately noticed a significant boost in the loading of different sites.

To test the Wi-Fi, I went to the upstairs bedrooms of our condo and tested the connection where we had trouble getting little to no signals before. The signal was strong in both bedrooms upstairs and well as the basement.

Signal used to fade slightly near the garage door headed outside but it has gotten much much better with this cable modem/router combo.

The front of the box containing the Motorola MG8702 modem-router combo reads, in bright colors, Xfinity, COX, and Spectrum. After trying to activate the modem for some 8 hours over four occasions on two different days, I began to wonder whether Xfinity should be listed on the box.

One of the technicians even claimed that the MG8702 was not compatible with their services, although she tried to activate it after I told her it was listed on the Xfinity website as a compatible cable modem.

After two days of failure, I gave it a rest for a week and decided to try one last time. Finally, after a wasted 30 minutes with the Xfinity assistant app and 40 minutes on the phone with a technician, the MG8702 was activated.

I tell this story just as a warning that you may have difficulty activating the modem with Xfinity, but that if you persist, it should work. The documentation that came with the MG8702 amounted to three pages, most of which described features and performance data, but not much in the way of how to get started on using the features.

There was a suggestion to first download the Motorola minim app, which I did, but I found it couldn’t do much without the modem being set up. Once the system was up and running, I discovered that the minim app provides a startling amount of information on devices connected to the modem/router.

It alerts you when a new device connects to the modem’s network, shows the signal strength, bandwidth, and sites connected to. You can also run speed tests for each device with the minim app. When I connected to the modem through my laptop’s browser to examine its settings, the minim app alerted me to this fact.

This app is far more useful than I expected. Oddly, although the three pages of documentation show pictures of both the front and back of the modem, only the features of the back (USB 3. 0 port, WiFi on/off button, WPS button, factory reset, 4 Gigabyte Ethernet LAN ports, COAX connector, power on/off button, power jack) are labeled.

The front has a set of LED icons that light up, but they are not labeled in the picture. This made it hard for me to discuss with the Xfinity technician what was happening, even though the icons are fairly intuitive.

Only later I discovered on a separate piece of paper a list of the LED icons (power, downstream, upstream, online, LAN, 2. 4 GHx WiFi, 5 GHz WiFi, WPS, and USB). I have not yet tried out the USB 3. 0 port.

I currently have a NAS drive connected to my existing wireless router, a Linksys WRT 1900 AC, but I don’t see a need to transfer it to the new MG8702, which would disrupt existing connections. When I get a new external drive, I will add it to the MG8702.

By the way, the Linksys router and the MG8702 seem to be coexisting happily without interfering with one another, the former with a 192. 168. 1. 1 address and the latter, a 192. 168. 0. 1 address. The Linksys router plugs into one of the Gigabit Ethernet ports in the back of the MG8702.

I had only two moments where I feared that the MG8702 might not work as advertised. When the Xfinity technician finally activated the modem, the wireless stopped working. But, after unplugging and modem and plugging it back in, the wireless came back and everything was fine.

The other momentary scare is that my phone disconnected from the network about a minute after first connecting. But, after reconnecting, it has been solid. I have tried other devices, including my laptop and Xfinity Flex box, and all is well.

I can’t report on whether Gigabyte speeds are possible because my plan with Xfinity is for only 100 MB. But all my devices are reading faster than that, so I am completely satisfied with this modem’s performance.

Again, if you have Xfinity, persevere and this modem/router combo should work great for you.

I purchased because of price. Has problems staying connected with my Sony Xperia XA Ultra mobile phone, either have to reset internet modem, the router, or the phone. No problem with connection with Sony Vaio™ notebook pc running Windows 7, and Internet speeds are fast using 5 Ghz connection.

I don’t know if changing settings to allow auto channel or set channel will help, all I know is that once a week, and now several times this past week, I have had authentication problems between my mobile phone and this router.

Extremely frustrating.

This is my second one. First one I gave it to my parents. The very first one was doing an amazing work , never crashed, great stability , many excellent features and app with loads of tools. I highly recommend it.

I’ve used ASUS routers before, so I’m familiar with the software, but. Negatives. this router requires a lot of time to sync in. Hard/soft resets takes longer to reconnect to the net than previous ASUS routers I’ve used.

Hard resets were required regularly, (when adding a new feature) which is an annoyance. Port forwarding is normally straight forward but it was/is a chore with this router. Every time I required to Port forward a new IP, I had to Hard reset (Hard reset = Factory settings) and re-key in all the previous information.

Router slows my internet speed down to 540Mbits from 940Mbits (1xPS5, 2xPS4, Computer, 5 mobile phones) I’ve finally got this router to standard that I’m happy with but to get to this stage. has taken to long.

I first tried a wifi6 upgrade but that router did not work well with some of my older devices. The GT-AC5300 was then installed at terrace level The coverage was good to excellent throughout the three house levels for my better, newer devices.

However after some consideration I restored the range extender which works very well with the GT-AC5300, but provides better service to some older devices. Speed was improved both directly or through the range extended in comparison with Archer C9 that it replaced.

We got a good deal for this router, and have been using it for about a month. Using the ASUS Router app, we can block offensive web content and limit the time spent on devices, which was the primary reason we wanted a new router.

The stability of our streaming videos, and online gaming has improved significantly compared to the router provided by our ISP. The range and strength of this router’s signal are also a significant improvement.

It is physically larger than we expected it to be.

Our 7 year old router was beginning to act finicky by freezing, operating at slower speeds than it was capable of, and exhibiting range issues in an upstairs bedroom. We did some online research and opted for the ASUS RT-AX86S with installation by Geek Squad as part of our Best Buy Totaltech membership.

The results have been fabulous in comparison with our old router. No range issues at all! Operates well into the middle of the cul de sac we live on, and the speeds with basic Spectrum Internet averages around 100 MHz/second Download and 10 MHz/second Upload.

The ASUS App Is easy to use and great for monitoring activity and the 15-20 devices that are connected at any given time. It can also be optimized for gaming or other types of Internet activity if desired.

Highly recommend this model or others in the ASUS family. Also recommend the Geek Squad support.

I was looking for a way to double up on my security. I was very happy with my Linksys WRT3200ACM and over 20 items on my 2. 4GHZ network for a modest amount of bulbs, outlets, displays and thermostats working with Google Home.

I was even fairly secure using a Fios GB feed to router off my internal network to a main floor router position via ethernet cable. I wanted the same 2000 square foot of coverage, easy transition for all my wifi devices, and some protection from myself.

Really!! Even though after being on Windows as long as Windows has been around, I finally got upset with untraceable crashes and moved to a Mac mini M1. Yes I wanted the wifi 6 to match my FIOS gateway but what I was really after was router based software to watch my traffic and add to what I already tried to do myself as a computer software network programmer (retired).

I am also old school with oodles of wifi networks I have set up in homes, in spite of there being an app for it, I wanted a web based login for configuring the new router. However, the built in software which had a reasonable starting configuration had something others did not have.

It has ASUS support going forward for updates as needed with no licenses or fees where others required $$$$. It was a short time later my entire house was converted. I replaced my Linksys and cabled up my two computers and printer to the new local network.

I used my laptop to see where the dynamic gateway was and then logged on to the router. I made my account non-default, named my two wifi networks to match what I had been called them and set the same wifi password.

UP came my network. I then looked to their hints about the security software, turned it on and tightened it up because some of what they allow for by default, I no longer do. I used to enable Windows Remote Desktop into my home to check business email while at my software job.

Today, my network is simpler in access needs and now thanks to the ASUS RT-AX86U AX5700 more secure. Cyber Terrorism is only going to get worse and there are enough Mac computers to justify virus and malware for this platform too.

B&H outdid themselves and my router came in little over 24 hours!.

I have own this router for a month and I found several issues with this router compared to the AC86U that I also own: (1) Random WAN disconnect: disconnect results in lost of internet connection. A manual reboot is required to resume connection to WAN.

(Note that I do not need to reboot my “modem”, but only the AX86U to get WAN connection working again) Sometimes it happen in once a week, other time it happen 2 – 3 times within 24 hours. (2) 2. 4Ghz Connection with IOT devices: some smart plugs have hard time staying connected with default settings, you will need to tweak your settings and you may (or may not) fix it.

My 2 year old AC86U do not have this problem. (3) AiMesh interface: the interface is not as good as the AC86U. It seems more like an unpolished new router. There is no Uplink/Downlink speed information like the AC86U.

(4) AiMesh if using 2. 4ghz as Wireless Back haul: Aimesh wireless back haul frequency is auto negotiation. The frequency used cannot be defined manually. If the router automatically negotiate to use 2.

4Ghz, you are almost not able to even stream on youtube as the speed become so slow (remember Aimesh: 1 node speed cut in half in an ideal world), plus I believe with stability issue with this router mentioned above), you can only use that connection to browse static webpage.

(5) Wireless back haul feature: Since you cannot manually choose which frequency to use (2. 4Ghz or 5Ghz) as wireless back haul, it does automatically choose the best (or worst) connection at negotiation.

Once the back haul connection is established, the back haul frequency will not change even when there is a better connection (move from 2. 4Ghz to 5Ghz). Chances of getting an automatic connection to 5ghz as back haul with a reboot seems to be a matter of “luck” (maybe 70% chance), If it happens to be on 2.

4ghz back haul connection, you will either need to reboot or update wireless setting (for example: turn on or off WiFi signal. Another problem related to wireless back haul is that if you were trying to update the router’s wireless setting (for example turn on/off guest Wifi), the router will renegotiate the wireless back haul connection and it can cause it to switch from 5ghz to 2.

4ghz connection. Again, once negotiation is completed, the connection will get stuck forever until you “force” another wireless settings update (so it will refresh the AiMesh connection) or reboot. The good (when it works): speed is great, plug in a USB HDD, and it max out the LAN gigabit transfer rate.

At 5ghz back haul, the AiMesh speed seems to be ok, I am able to get up-to 544mbps. However, since there are still so many advance features that do not work well, I CANNOT recommend this to anyone.

I bought this the 1st week of April and was excited with my purchase, I replaced a Linksys 32x gaming router with this one, and I assumed that it was an upgrade boy I was wrong. The Net Duma software is glitchy, fails to functions, and struggles to do the advertised functions.

I figured I needed a firmware update and I believe it did a total of 3 but no improvement. I had the router reset itself to factory settings multiple times just for hitting the reboot option, devices lose connectivity and not connect for up to 24 hours later.

All my cameras became unresponsive to view and ironically lags in matches. I hit up customer service via web and they wanted to do the basic troubleshooting usually done with people clueless with tech.

Left me hanging for a few days while they “sent it over” to another department to resolve. Yea no pretty easy to jump in my car and buy a competitor. I’m sorry but check the Netduma forum and look at all the issues and people claiming its an expensive brick.

Its pretty basic netgear sell a product that you plug in and works. I bought a Linksys comparable in value and guess what it works flawlessly. Defective Radio?May be doesn’t make up for the glitchy software.

Easy enough to install and works well. Had an improvement in Gbps speeds. However, Providers make it very difficult to self install! In this case, Comcast. Yes, it works, but we’re getting no where near the download and upload speeds we pay for! Buying your own WiFi system is getting to be a lose/lose proposition! The equipment is getting more and more expensive and the service providers are making it more and more difficult to connect and get the speeds you’re paying for! Was getting about 90 Gbps download and 20 Gbps upload with previous equipment (Netgear CM500v Modem and Asus RT-AC68P (from 2013).

With this new router, speeds have increased to 120-150 Gbps Upload (depending on time of day/traffic) and 30 Gbps Upload. Not the greatest considering the cost of almost $700 (including the Netgear Nighthawk XR1000 Router and CM2050V modem).

According to our ISP (Xfinity) we should be getting 900 Gbps – That’s what we pay for, at least. Considering returning and just renting Xfinity’s equipment. Typically, modems with routers built in do k no it have the range needed.

If youre playing on Xbox and have AT&T Fiber (cant speak for anything else cause this is how i was using it) DO NOT BUY! Latest firmware does not allow the basic router functions let alone DumaOS operating incredibly slow.

Ive had a Nighthawk R8600 for years now and has worked flawlessly, decided to upgrade to the XR1000. Strict NAT on my Series X no matter what i did. Tried for 10+ hours to resolve the issue and nothing would fix it.

Port forwarding, DMZ, oh and the UPnP doesnt even work, neither does NAT set to Open under WAN Settings. Kept getting Double NAT, DMZ would fix this but then it would still be Strict cause UPnP doesnt fuction.

Latest firmware wont even allow you to turn it on, downgrading to a previous firmware allows you to turn it on but it still doesnt work. I mean that literally, tap shows it on but it doesnt work, might as well still show off.

These are the basic functions of low end ISP gateways and a “Pro Gaming” router cant do it. My old router runs fine and gives me an open NAT, with only UPnP and NAT Open under WAN Settings, nothing else needed with that one to get things working correctly.

Returning this garbage for a full refund, from what i could tell in the forums is that they are aware but its been months sense the latest firmware with no dates on a fix listed. This thing was put out as a finished product and came standard with DumaOS 3.

0 but it appears its still in beta as you will see developers for this software can only trouble shoot with people online, forcing you to take hugely inconvenient steps just to get basic functions working.

I didnt volunteer to pay $300+ to be a beta tester. Do your research before buying and make sure everything is worked out before purchase, this review is from September 2021. I will give it to the other functions, my wireless signal was stronger and faster than its ever been and my hardwired connections were also extremely stable and fast.

Those were the only positives that got heavily outweighed by the negatives.

This router is a tank. I get 2. 4 signal all over my house, and even most of it is covered with the 5ghz band as well. And we have solid concrete cinder block walls behind all our drywall. No issue with signal.

My internet speed is 1gigabit down and 50 megabit up. On 2. 4 with solid signal I can usually get 120megbit down and the full 5 up without issues. On 5ghz I can get over 350 megabit down if I am within solid signal range.

When hard wired to it, I have no issue with max speeds on all fronts. I have an android phone, and downloaded the app to control this router from it, and it is packed with great features. From the app, I can tunr on or off any of the 3 wifi attenas, I can block internet access to any device that is connected to it, and I can even limit how much time a certain device gets internet access, Another useful feature is, you can connect any device, and the assign it to a specific user, So if you have a house full of people who all have devices connected, you can make user profiles and assign the devices to the specific user that uses that device.

So when little Johnny comes home to play video games while he chats on his phone, but didn’t take out the trash, you can block all his devices from internet access all at once by turning off access to his profile.

Just a few useful features for those with big families with several devices. These are just a few solid features of this router, It has gotten several firmware updates that have improved it’s security and performance as well.

Just make sure you do a full power down for at least 30 seconds and then do a full reboot. Some of the firmware updates have crippled my upload speed until I take this step, Overall, fantastic router! Been using it for over 3 years now!.

This router was supposed to be top of the line when I bought it in 2020. The signal has been decent, but it has been plagued with problems that progressively get worse over time. One feature I liked was being able to use the parental time block feature to shut the router off at specific times of the day on the kids devices.

It worked like a champ for a few months and then randomly deleted all the ip addresses for the kids devices (which were many!) After re-adding all the devices for the 3rd time, they deleted again. After that stranger things began happening.

When I would log into the router from my computer or phone, etc. everything turned into japanese. I don’t know japanese, so I had to follow some screenshots to turn it back to english. Fast forward another month, the router turned off completely.

I restarted it and all our smart devices (50+) are working with the unit. however now when I try to log into the router, not only am I being japanese again, it doesn’t recognize my login anymore. I tried the factory login and still nothing.

I called Asus, and after waiting on hold for 20+minutes, they tell me it is out of warranty, so they told me to go to their website and use the chat feature. I used the chat feature, and they proceed to tell me I need to do a factory reset.

Which means I have to set up a whole new network SSID and reprogram 50+ devices to work with the router again! There is no guarantee this won’t happen again. so I am on the fence about restarting the modem since things are still working.

I just can’t access the settings in the modem. If I must reset, I will purchase a new modem and throw this one away as no one should have to use this piece of garbage! I only bought this modem for the gaming reliability for one of the kids.

I should have stuck with my old reliable Apple router literally the most reliable router I have ever owned. I have also owned netgear. other than the constant connection issues with it I never had a settings issue.

Don’t even get me started on the ASUS laptop I bought a few years ago! Asus sucks.

I pre ordered it from PB Tech on 17 September 2021 but had to wait for delivery until October as they did not had it in the stock at that time I guess because of Lockdowns. It was the most expensive and advance router available in NZ last year.

I had this router now for almost a year and have no regrets for paying almost $1000 including delivery. The reason why I bought it because it is so advance in what it has to offer and will offer you the best you can get from the festers Wi-Fi 6 Internet today and even faster in future.

You do not need another router in future to upgrade your Internet speed. It can already handle the speed the Internet providers even cannot offer in NZ at the moment. It is the most powerful router which can connect dozens of devises and covers the large area through the thick wall of a large house.

One devise solves all you Internet needs. No need for Mashing in house. This is what you paying for here. The hardware and software is the best too. This router is very heavy for a reason. It is packed with all the best Hi Tech staff inside and it delivers when you really need it.

Had all high speed ports in and out of router and super easy software installation. Download from “Google app” store for free on Android phone and you can control the entire Internet in house from you Mobile phone.

No need to go PC to do it. Software is very advance as you would expect for this money and can offer you so many settings which you probably do not need but IT specialists will defiantly appreciate these extras.

RGB light on the top at the middle of the router is nice extra too especially at night in the dark. Can choose any colour you like. To cut this long story short – IT IS THE FULL PACKAGE and ULTIMATE INTERNET DEVICE.

Great router. I had an Apple AirPort Extreme that seemed to be working fine so I thought there was no need to upgrade. 2020 hit and my kids ended up doing school from home while I worked from home. While I had never experienced any issues, the kids were having connection issues during Zoom meetings with their classes.

I have 1 gigabit internet speed through Comcast/Xfinity and had never seen much more than 550mbps over Wi-fi but figured it was a limitation of the devices I was using. Between seeing the low (for the plan) speeds and the kids having Zoom issues, I decided to get a Wi-fi 6 compatible router.

I did a bunch of research and this was one of the highest rated ones and I had my friend, a Sr. Network Engineer, look over the specs and he was impressed by it and now wants to get one. I bought it and set it up.

Setup was very easy and intuitive so the router was up and running in just minutes. The ASUS app is user friendly as well. While most devices on my network aren’t Wi-fi 6 compatible, my iPad and iPhone both are.

I was able to get up to 892mbps with this new router on my phone and up to 901mpbs on my iPad Pro, both of course over Wi-fi. My kids also both have not had a single issue with Zoom meeting connections after the upgrade.

This router was money well spent, especially with a smart home full of devices connected, me working from home, and my kids both on Chrome books doing school from home. If you are considering this router, I hope you find this review helpful.

I would absolutely buy this router if I had it to do again. It has been running flawlessly for a few months now and has been putting our gigabit service to good use. Oh, and range. The router is located in the middle of our home and we have a detached garage which gets a nice strong signal and a detached shed maybe 100 feet from the router through a few walls and across the yard that has a Wi-fi camera mounted to it which receives a good signal and allows for streaming from the camera so I find the range to be very good.

I bought 2 of these routers. The first one was purchased last year to address shortcomings in coverage for my 2 story home with large distances from the router. I originally paired it with a N66U ASUS router to extend my networks range.

However a lightning storm killed the old router and as a result I have now purchased a second one of these. They now act as a DUO with one as an ASUS Ai Mesh Node to the second. I have strong signal strength throughout the house wirelessly now and the router function as a mesh with both 1 GB Ethernet backbone and over 5GHz backhaul channel if the hard line uplink fails.

Connection quality is seamless throughout the 4000 sqft house with the range extending all the way down by the pool deck. All our devices migrate seamlessly between the mesh nodes as expected without a drop in speed or quality.

I have Mediacom, my speed very based on their service, not my equipment. But I have stead 500 to 800 MB down throughout the day over the Dual Band network of the 2GHz/5GHz management by the routers. Streaming anywhere in the house or working from home of wired or wireless is very efficient now.

Highly recommend these routers. The UI is very robust and easy to navigate whether you are a novice or an experienced network planner. My last ASUS Router lasted for more than a decade and only had to be swapped out due to aging radio tech and an unfortunate power surge.

ASUS makes products that last.

I waited until a month of ownership had passed to fully acquaint myself with this router before writing this review, and gathering an opinion on it/it’s features/quirks. Normally I’d lay out my reviews in the “pros/cons manner, but this is a router, and realistically that’s difficult to do.

Navigating the router – at first – was difficult as I’ve used Netgear exclusively ever since the Linksys WRT54G was “outdated” due to their ease of use and acceptability of open source firmware. I was a bit deterred to know that this router didn’t have open source capabilities, or any developers for such, but decided ultimately based off reviews to give it a chance anyway, and I’m quite glad I did.

I’ve not tested the USB throughput, however, if it’s performance is anything similar to what I’ve experienced on my network thus far I’ve got no doubt that it’ll reach it’s specified transfer rates. I’ve had ZERO issues with this router, and find the ease of doing some things (such as blocking internet access for my security cameras) is INSANELY easy (literally the click of a button vs Netgear’s multiple page/menu/submenu navigation then restarting the router every single time within ANOTHER MENU.

) Assigning static LAN IP’s is equally as easy, and I quite enjoy the fact that I can DISABLE automatic throughput prioritization for the “gaming” port on the wired LAN. The ability to set up temporary networks is really cool too, not a GUEST network – a temporary one, as in it vanishes in a set amount of time.

That’s pretty legit if a friend’s kids want to come over and use the internet, but I want to make sure that they don’t have it automatically the next day should I forget to disable the guest account, etc.

Being able to see CPU CORE usage – not just overall – memory usage, logging of multiple different aspects all SEPARATELY DDOS protection built in as well as ICMP requests, etc. are all very nice things to have.

The RGB is. basic, but it’s not like this is Corsair, afterall, naturally it’s going to be a lot less “fun” than it could be, but it’s not bad. It COULD be better, but that would come at the cost of RAM/CPU usage – so consider that.

The ease of use of this router is bar-none the BEST I’ve ever had in a managed atmosphere for networking devices, and I went to school for this. so there’s that. The CPU usage spikes pretty heavily on my 400Mbps/40Mbps network when I max out traffic during packet sniffing/loss tests/speed tests/large downloads, so it definitely HAS the potential for buffer overflow but I’ve yet to run into any, and have 5 LAN tablets, 3 Smart TV’s, 2 4k Blu-Ray streamers, 5 Bluetooth Audio Systems, a Switch, 4 Desktop PC’s, a Server, a HTPC, a fire stick, a laptop, and two smart phones all running through this router as well as 10 cameras, and I’ve had NO issues whatsoever without even enabling QOS or other “management” features.

Again – bar-none this is the BEST router I’ve ever owned. Period. I haven’t tested whether the RGB affects RAM/CPU usage or temps enough to care, but I’ve got mine mounted on an aluminum ‘shelf’ with perforations for airflow, and have had absolutely no hiccups whatsoever.

Build quality is good, decently heavy, but you can tell that the way they designed it was with airflow in mind. At numerous angles you can see through this router, and that’s a good thing!.

Works good and easy to set up at first no troubles ,stays on 24 7 except for here and there if I shut down. Was best value price when purchased,. Has 2 speeds,,both are mucrowave freqs. I use to slower speed at home so as not bombard myself with microwave frequencies which are any that are 1.

2giga hertz and over. Most new things have Wi-Fi in outs and this works well with the new products on market,the manufacturer offered updates too.

It works but long range its not !! 30 feet was my long shot. Im sure if you live in a home with a floor plan like Walmart you could squeeze a few more feet out but for us that has walls dont expect any range.

Cheap made weighs less than a single pack of bottle rockets.

My old Netgear modem router wifi was dying. I needed a new Wifi router, and this was on special at PB Tech. After reading the specs and deciding on this device, it was couriered promptly. Set-up was a breeze for 2 Degrees broadband fibre, but I’ll note that I did have to go and find an advanced menu to set a VLAN=10 after entering my username & password.

The first speed test was like night and day; lightning fast fibre again (if not very much faster too). Reliable Wifi Maslow requirements for the family were satisfied again. I’ve been very happy with the router since.

Some other notes then: it’s not a terrible hedgehog antenna design (I barely notice it in my office), the four LAN ports for wired devices are useful, the Netgear Nighthawk app is ok and provides a useful device manager, internet speed check and traffic meter.

I can also set-up a guest network on the fly using the app too. I haven’t signed up for the Netgear Armor security (I hate subscriptions) or setup any parental controls yet. Highly recommended A+++.

It seems Netgear has really thought things through with this device. As a non-IT professional, I was able to setup the Nighthawk AX6 6-Stream WiFi 6 Router (RAX50) myself. Not only was I able to set it up, I was also able to set up a guest network for temp users visiting for the day or the weekend.

The iPhone/smartphone app makes it a breeze to do the initial setup and manage the router functions on an ongoing basis. Handling the unit, it feels solid, and visually, it looks like it was designed by those that designed the military’s stealth fighter jets.

Since installing the Nighthawk AX6 6-Stream WiFi 6 Router (RAX50), there are no more wifi deadspots in our home and even sitting outside on our back deck, we still get a great wifi signal. Netgear hit a homerun with the Nighthawk AX6 6-Stream WiFi 6 Router (RAX50).

I like it so much, I’m going to order one for my office!.

As a retired network engineer from a major US telecom, I have extensive experience with commercial grade networking products. For a midrange home router the AX6 has thus far performed beautifully. It replaced an R7000 and there is a notable improvement in performance.

There has been both improvement on the wi-fi side of the router as well as smaller improvement on throughput to the Internet side of the router. The setup through the Nighthawk was seamless and very straightforward.

One of the reasons for upgrading was the support for WPA2-AES and WPA3 as the R7000 only supported WPA2-TKIP which proven to be less secure. I have paired the router with an EAX15 Extender replacing a pair of TP-Link extenders.

The improved wi-fi coverage on the new devices has allowed me to eliminate a 2nd extender. Home is 2 level, 2800 sq ft condo. One thing I would like to see would be support for trunking and VLAN implementation.

My place has structured Ethernet infrastructure with outlets in every room. My 4 Rokus are all connected via Ethernet back to patch panel and Gig switch and from there to the AX6. Being to create a trunk to the switch and then separate VLANs to each of Rokus would allow me to get everything off a flat LAN.

Just a thought. Overall the AX6 has fully met my expectations.

This router needs 10×6 inches table space and needs about 7 inches in clearance for the six antennas, it was nearly twice the size of my previous router. Setup was simple enough that I imagine anyone with the most basic understanding of plugging in wires or connecting to wifi would be able to get on the internet without much hassle.

The rest of the configuration stuff in the advanced area will require a little more technical knowledge. You can download an app and manage everything that way or connect with ethernet to get started.

It did seem to take a few minutes after connecting the router to our internet modem before the router light for the internet connection changed from orange to green connecting to our Xfinity service, much longer than expected.

The device requires you to use a few password security checks like letter/number combinations, but nothing too crazy. You have the option to register for an account and connect your router to it, but you can skip all that and just function as a local administrator.

The 2. 4 and 5 Ghz wifi networks use the same network ID and password, and the guest networks are set to off by default. You have the option to toggle one of the two networks off and only use the 2. 4 OR 5 Ghz if you prefer.

You can also set up a Windows Samba share, local FTP, and Internet FTP with this device. The router also offers a backup program for Mac computers called Time Machine. You have the option to add on extending devices for a mesh network, even to the point of a web link in the router setup to the manufacturer page to purchase them! Mesh is enabled by default, I turned it off since I won’t be using it.

I can tell a good difference in my wifi speeds where there is signal. Still can’t get a good signal in one of my rooms past an electrical box in the wall.

So this review covers the packaging of the product, what the product does, how it does it and suitability for home applications. Packaging is okay. It would be good or average but for some reason the opted to cover each of the 6 antenna’s with a plastic sheath that does not just pull off.

If you have an older wireless router or live in a large house or apartment or one with a lot of walls then this is the product for you. While it’s not a mesh network if you locate this centrally in most houses or apartments you will get good coverage all over your space.

I have a detached garage where we live and I got coverage out there from it. It comes with both a phone and a web app which is nice. As with most other products the web app does a lot more. It has good security with password printed on both the unit and on a pressure sensitive label.

Also comes with WPS for your devices. Like most products nowadays it comes with a “quick start” guide and you go online for the meat and potatoes of instructions. The quick start is adequate. How it does it.

Comes with a WAN port plus 4 ethernet ports. The WAN port you would use for your cable modem in most cases or ethernet depending on how you get your signal. Has external power supply and 5 control buttons, power, LED (to turn the LED indicators on front on or off), WPS for security, WIFI to turn wifi off in case you want to use it as a 4 port dumb switch, and a reset button you use a paper clip with.

It does have a single USB 3. 0 port that you could hang a hard drive or thumb drive off to share photos, movies, files, etc. If you have an older wifi router you are going to notice a big positive difference with this unit.

Setup is very straightforward.

I bought this to replace a storm damaged netgear ac nighthawk router which costs more than this but my kids are grown and my wife and I don’t need hardcore gaming capability or lots of video feeds going at a time.

While I don’t need the AX router version yet with streaming tv’s etc, it’s hopefully setup for when that day comes. The process of getting setup, plugged in and going was pretty simple. I’ve gone through probably 5-8 routers over the last 20 years.

This has the basic functions most people will need. It’s not overkill like my netgear was and unfortunately the internet port died. This one the only thing I wish was better is as all your wifi items connect some of them just are listed by MAC address without a description.

It might take some deciphering what the items are where my old netgear was more specific to the type of device. I like having the dual band with one password and the router deciding which connection is best.

I have over 20 wifi connections, strength in my 2100sq foot home has been solid with no drops. I’m wired direct to the router, all working well. I installed the app and tried that, it works. It’s just a solid mid range AX router that I think will do a good job for me for a few years until I decide to upgrade again.

My old router (different brand) had to be reset twice a week because people in my household were always complaining about the WiFi. I’ve had this new router up to 2 months without the slightest complaint.

Plus it is covering the size of the house better than the previous router. I placed the router fairly centrally on the main floor. My house is about 3300 sq feet (main floor) and 2475 sq feet (basement) and even the further corners are working well, including smart devices mounted in basement corners, in the garage, and on outside walls of the house.

I realize I could have paid 4x-5x as much for another brand and maybe had even more range, but this covers all of my house and seems to be an great value for the price (I paid $99. ) NOTE: I am not using the full speed capacity of this router.

My internet service allows just over 100 MB download and theoretically up to 1 GB upload. Tests from my machine to speedtest. net typically show me getting full 100 MB downloads on both wired and wifi connections.

For uploads, wired is getting me 900 MB and wifi is getting me 700 MB.

This Belkin WiFi 6 RT3200 says it can be used up to 25 devices at once. I have about 18 devices and it certainly has no problem providing consistent fast speeds. The router is a very beautiful geometrical design in all white color with 4 rubber feet on the bottom legs.

It has white LEDs on the front and has a power switch, 2. 0 USB port, a WAN gigabyte port coming in from your modem, 4× Gigabyte Ethernet ports out, a reset button, a WPS button on the rear. It’s sits very stable on any table or shelf and the unit weighs just over a pound.

It comes in a very sturdy box which contains: RT3200 wifi 6 router, quick start guide, Ethernet cable, power adapter and warranty and regulatory paperwork. Belkin offers a one year warranty with 24/7 customer support.

Just a quick note: This is a Wireless WIFI cable/ADSL router only. You will need a cable or ADSL type of modem to use this router. It’s always better to get a separate modem and separate router than a all in one device for the best speed and consistency.

All in one devices usually scrimp on internal parts as compared to separate devices.
