20 Best Intake For 7.3 Powerstroke (2023 Updated)

This system is easy to install, well built and came with all of the hardware required for installation. My truck has been tuned a little and this really helped the throttle response and power. For my purposes I would like it to be a little quieter but I don’t think you can have this much airflow and keep it all quiet.

All things considered I believe this is the best filter and intake for the 7. 3 power stroke.

Works well. Clean design. Everything fits like it’s supposed to. However, it is a very tight fit in the engine compartment. I will probably have to remove it just to check the power steering fluid. Also, two of the lid bolts are inaccessible under the top edge of the fender.

They could have made it an inch smaller each way for a much easier fit. I don’t think it’s worth the retail price, but I got mine for half price.

Happy with the product once installed. Took a bit of fine tuning to mount the metal bezel that accepts the air temp sensor. Plastic housing was prepped incorrectly. Also the 4 holes that align the lid to the filter housing aren’t cast in quite the right location making it tough to get the lid seated properly.

Other than those two plastic casting issues the product performs well.

I noticed a definite difference. I could hear the engine breath easier. The turbo had a much nicer sound. It increases the spooling of the turbo cause it wasn’t starving for air. I felt the responsiveness of the engine off the line.

Installation was simple and rewarding; and with an instant increase in fuel economy the results are undeniable. I will be purchasing in the future for my fleet! Used to tow 10k-20k on a daily basis for local and long distance vehicle transport.

2016 Ford F-350 SRW STEALTH MODULE BANKS AIR RAM 11mpg and climbing!.

Installed the Ram Air Intake on my 2016 F-350 with a Diesel 6. 7. I tow a 36′ 5th wheel and am always looking for things to help with power and fuel economy. not only was the unit extremely easy and quick to install, I noticed more throttle response and low end pulling power along with an increase of 1.

7 mpg. Every little bit helps when you drive an average of 35,000+ miles a year. Thanks to the staff for helpful information and a Great Product. Look forward to more add on sin the future.

The installation went great. It took about and hour. I was worried about it being noisy when I was pulling hard but I didn’t notice any extra noise at all. It gave me a quicker throttle response and more power.

I haven’t checked to see if it helped with gas mileage yet. Definitely worth it.

Took about 2 hours to install including cleanup. Instructions were lacking, limited to diagrams and callouts, but with a little mechanical intuition, this is easily overcome. Installed for two weeks now, immediatly noticed a differance in the sound of the intake, particularly when the wastegate opens, reverberating like someone exhaling into a four inch pvc pipe.

Unfortunaly, no “seat of the pants” improvement in performance, and a meager half mile (0. 5) per gallon increase on the highway. However, throttle respose is improved as a result of the less restricted air flow.

EGT’s down about 10F under normal use. My particulary reasoning in looking at this intake vs others, is its ability to bring in cold air, while avoiding waterloging the filter and engine when splashing through water puddles and heavy rain, which can be a problem with other, exposed filter intakes.

Overall good purchase, time will tell the rest.

My son and I installed a Volant cold air intake (basic model) on our 2002 F350 7. 3L about two weeks ago. The installation was a breeze even though the so-called instructions were a joke (nothing but a parts list and a bad diagram).

The fit is very good. We noticed a significant improvement in throttle response. Not enough time in yet to gauge mileage changes. So far we had one check engine light warning on a VERY cold morning at highway speeds, but it cleared itself and I suspect the adaptive learning mode had just not caught up wiht the apparently confused Mass Airflow Sensor (frigid morning = more concentrated oxygen).

No problems since then. The box does drone a bit at highway speeds but its not bad. Exhales audibly when you let off the throttle, but again not an offensive sound. Overall quite pleased.

Very well built, solid product. Fits in place well, connects right in. Now the bad, the shoulder that holds the filter element is too short, I live on 14 miles of gravel road and the element falls off about once a month.

Keep putting it back in. Replacing it soon, not sure I’ll buy anything Banks again. 2006 F-250SD 6. 0 powerstroke, built.

Horrible design the notches to hold the filter in place is barley high enough to even do anything and as you tighten it he clamp slips off so every day I’m checking my intake making sure it doesn’t fall off and I don’t know why it has five stars because I heard multiple buddies and mechanics have the same issue maybe should of done my research instead of jumping for one brand, very disappointed and now I have to just do with what I got as in spending almost 500 dollars for this product.

Easy install with the directions, and improved my MPG more than I expected. Only down side is that although it came with the Banks raised lettering, it came completely black. I was expecting the raised WHITE lettering so you can understand my initial disappointment.

Rudy’s explained that Banks probably updated their product reason why no write lettering. Works great but all black Also, best price I could find.

Installed on 2015 F-250 Superduty. I not noticed any improvement on either power or mileage. In fact, since having installed the Bank Ram-Air, I have had to reset my air filter reminder. How does one interpret that? Am I getting less air than needed when I floor the accelerator? Anyway, maybe this is not a good investment for the 2015 f-250 Superduty afterall.

All parts fit exactly as designed. I bought this as well as the Banks Derringer package. This is for a 2016 F250 and the performance is very notable. Fuel mileage is improved as well. Looking at exhaust system next.

Easy to install! Right away out of the driveway I could feel a definite increase in throttle response and horsepower. I would recommend this upgrade for anyone pulling a camper, to help increase fuel mileage or to just have a better off line response.

Easy install. Lost about 2 avg mpg. Looking at modifying stock box so that the intake isn’t just sucking in ambient engine temperatures. Does change tone of low rpm rev with slight turbo noise increase.

Huge sound and throttle response gains. Looks awesome, make the engine bay pop!

Easy to install even if I didn’t get directions. Looks great. My 6. 7 is getting all the air it wants. Since installing a couple of parts from Sinister my truck has never run better and I’m getting at least 3 more mpg.

Easy install. Looks like a quality build. I wouldn’t have bought it if I had known beforehand that would emitte a loud ******* sound every time I accelerate. It is not a pleasant sound. Very annoying.

Unfortunately I threw away the stock system before I realized that the S&B system really “sucks”. So I am stuck. with a monterous ******* Monster who now lives under my hood. The extra power doesn’t compensate for the ******* sound.

My mother always said, “If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it”.

I love S&B. I had a 6L a few years ago and had a cold air intake on that truck, so I bought another one but this time for my 7. 3L. The stock Garrett turbo gets way more air now and the waste gate actually opens up.

You can feel a noticeable amount of power increase, especially in the 1500-2000 rpm range. Overall, I would buy S&B products over and over again for my diesel trucks. If you’re looking for a great product that actually does what it’s supposed to, then go with one of these intakes.

You won’t be disappointed.

I just installed this in my ’02 F-250. The install was very straight forward and took around 30 minutes overall. I already installed the monster exhaust a few months back, and adding the intake seemed to make towing that much easier.

I’d highly recommend the combination of the two. Saving up for the compressor wheel and torque tube next before deciding if I want to get the turbo.

Bolted right up. My top radiator hose touches it, but I’m not to worried about it. My only other complaint would be the directions say to install the cold air tube last, but you can’t get it in with the thing installed, so I had to completely uninstall it to get that sucker attached.

Other than that, great airflow, my turbo sounds way happier. I’m completely satisfied.

I bought this diesel new in 2000,. has just 80k miles. I broke the stock intake, this seemed a good replacement. Installation was easy. The rubber connector of old duct to new duct could be better. I have not noticed any real increase in performance.

mpg is possibly better a little. maybe 1mpg.

The filter worked great, it fits with no issues. No different than removing or installing original filter housing. But, this one look AWESOME in the engine bay. And I can feel better power, specially when cruising around.

Very torquy. Without really paying attention, I think my fuel milage is better. Seems the diesel is lasting a little longer, before I fill up again. Awesome prodoct. Thank You.

A good design that isolates the filter from dirt, soot, and heat in the engine compartment by ducting fresh air through the filter from the grill area. Installation was straightforward, and the instructions are full of color photos.

I also know that S&B is one of if not THE only filter on the market that is as good or better than OEM in terms of filtration. I see so many guys throw X brand CAIs on their trucks only to end up with dusted turbos as a result, and never put two and two together.

The quality of the air entering the turbo is extremely important, because if its contaminated by grit that grit runs right through the compressor, and slowly erodes the compressor wheel. Once the clearance between the wheel and the housing opens up from this erosion the compressor no longer does its job effectively and the truck feels sluggish off the line and won’t make peak boost on the top end.

Unfortunately at that point turbo replacement is the only cure. S&B’s reputation for quality is well deserved. They sell a premium product at a reasonable price, and I wouldn’t run anything else on my truck.

Awesome well-made product, I don’t really have much faith in colder intakes but this one is already making a difference. My mpg‘s have gone up from 19 MPG to a nice 21 or 22. And that’s some interstate driving with mostly city driving.

I installed this on my 2018 RAM 2500 6. 4L HEMI. Installation time was fairly accurate (~2 hours) and the tools required were clearly pointed out in the instructions. Regarding performance, the air box is louder which can be annoying hauling heavy loads but I do have the optional side cover not installed.

I don’t notice significant power gains but I did notice 1-2 mpg improvement on the freeway (hard to tell in town driving) which will pay for itself soon with the current gas prices. I’d give this design a 5 star if the optional side cover was easier to install (which I might do in the winter as well as reduce noise when towing heavy loads).

Went with S&B CAI due mainly to the reviews on this site. Can’t say I got as big of increases on my 2022 Rebel as others on here claim. Sound stayed the same, but seems like the truck gets into and stays in ECO mode more, so mpg went up slightly, and maybe a small uptick in acceleration, so well worth it for me.

The fit was great and the look with the see through cover is awesome. I kept the rubber insert in due to driving a lot of dirt roads, and I might take it out once it gets cold to see if it makes any more of a difference.

Install was super easy, just followed along with the AT video.

I waited to review until I had good information to report. After 2500 miles I’ve consistently gotten +2mpg. All fuel types (Reg, E10, E85) and all driving conditions (city, hwy, towing). No other mods so this was the only thing that changed.

Follow instructions and disconnect battery. It took about 2 tanks for the computer to re-learn. No noticeable difference in sound under the hood. I was pleasantly surprised and would highly recommend.

I wish I had done it sooner.

Ford made it difficult to get cold air to the engine. They have a hot air hose that helps keep the engine bay and turbo cooler. I’ve ran the truck with the hose unplugged and the result was a very hot engine bay.

Banks is (in my opinion) the best choice for the 6. 4. No more resetting the filter indicator so the engine is definitely breathing properly.

I was towing a heavy trailer and I had just replaced the stock cartridge and the “air restriction” warning light came on and had to be reset 3 times on one trip. Now with the Banks filter the visual indicator on the filter hasn’t moved.

There is more power but I was looking for reliability and mileage. I believe the reliability is there but the only way to get mileage is to back off the gas pedal.

The intake was easy to install and its obvious that the product was designed for this specific application (F250 TD) and was not some generic kit. Very clean look once installed. I run an Edge Evolution on my truck and monitor my intake air temp and I saw about a 10 degree difference with the Banks over my stock intake.

The truck does feel like it breaths easier and the throttle response is better. Ive not yet been able to determine if Im getting any better MPG if so its slight. I did not notice any real difference in how the truck sounds.

Overall it was an easy upgrade but Im not sure if it was worth the cost.

The fit and finish of this product is outstanding! Install in my 2021 Ram 3500 Cummins was very straightforward, with no issues. I run with the plug installed, as I don’t care for unnecessary noise. There is however, one benefit I would have never expected, my DPF now stays clean since the install.

I drive a lot in town, and my DPF would always run 25 to 50% full, and regen every 150 miles or so. Now, it stays clean, and only regens on the programmed 24 hour cycle! Amazing product!.

This system took me 45 minutes to install. No trimming, looking for better hardware or making up new cuss words. It goes on just like it says. You don’t alter any of the stock parts so if you ever need to put the stock parts back on, no problem.

Have a ratcheting 10MM combination wrench for the two bolts that hold the air box down and an extension on the 5/16s nut driver which makes it easier to tighten the hose clamp for the filter element.

And you will need a SECURITY #20 Torx bit which has the tip in the middle; the directions specify this but if your aren’t taking your time reviewing them you might miss it. I’ll have to report later on how the truck runs.

But for now I’m impressed.

Easy install. Good instructions with pictures. Noticed immediately just pulling out of the driveway to first stop sign, that there was a performance improvement. I left ‘off’ the square bottom plug to the Air Box for more incoming air.

My truck was 100% stock until this air intake upgrade.

A nice piece with plenty of improvement to be had. I’m reviewing after owning for 10 years… gasket between truck intake and afe tube, crumbling and disintegrating badly, paint / coating on box coming off and other than that, not bad.

Would highly recommend a better / different 4” gasket, as the nice blue stock intercooler lines gaskets look brand new and the $30 AFE gasket is toast.

I wanted an intake for my 01 7. 3l f350 and my battery hold down broke so this intake was a great option to kill two birds with one stone. Everything looks great out of the box. Fitment was a little tight but not too bad.

The price is obviously pretty high but a lot of work went into the design and I’m really happy with it. I’d recommend the intake if you can handle the price point.

Very pleased with my purchase. Easy to install. Less than a hour. Everything fit as it should. You can tell it was well thought out. Very professional looking. I haven’t driven it far enough to tell about performance, but I would say it does have more power.

New AFE Momentum GT intake is sleek and designed for maximum air flow. Now it has an excellent induction sound. Sounds like you are sucking in a roaring lion at full throttle. Took me around a half hour to install from start to finish.

The stock intake was so bulky and unnecessary. The Mass Airflow Sensor installed perfectly as well. Did a lot of research looking at many different styles of intakes and this one had the best look to me, others looked cheaply made and flimsy.

I’m very satisfied with this purchase.

I was looking for a quick way to add a little power and this was it. First off – I ordered on Sunday and it was delivered on Wednesday, can’t beat it. I decided I was going to install this myself – it took me about 2 hours but only because I have never worked on trucks before.

The install is pretty simply , the only part that sucks is everything under the hood is plastic so it is easy to crack the wire harnesses or the MAF sensor. I made one mistake where the instructions tell you to snap off the tie wrap holding the wire harness – I thought it meant to cut the FACTORY wraps ( which I did ) only to realize later I was supposed to pull it out of the factory intake , not cut it.

So my harness is currently tie wrapped to the new intake but I don’t see it being a huge issue. As far as performance- I definitely notice a difference. It gives my truck a great sound especially when you find that sweet spot in your RPMs.

Definitely notice a difference with throttle response as well. I would recommend this if you are looking for a simple mod to give you a little more power.

I can’t speak for other years, but for the 2018, you DO NOT REMOVE the metal plate that is under the resonator filter box as the install video suggests. That’s EXACTLY where the 3 prongs at the bottom of the AFE filter box sits into perfectly.

You remove that and it’s floating in space and not getting a seal up against the sidewall. I also think it’s easier NOT to marry the box to the tube until the box is in the engine bay. Otherwise it’s a pain the get past a few wire harnesses.

Other than that, Pretty easy install. I love the way it sounds. It’s throaty as hell even with very little throttle. As far as MPG improvement, I cannot tell because I can’t get off the throttle for the great sound??.

I’ll update on a few weeks when I try to drive normal.

Definitely added a bit of punch to throttle response. Not as loud as I’d hope it would be. But if your into keeping your beast on the hush hush it’s def on the quiet side. Super easy to install. It does come with a plastic tube your supposed to put in the charge pipe to keep from a code getting thrown.

Wasn’t aware of that. And you need a quick disconnect tool to take the sensor off the charge tube for it… I didn’t install that plastic tube and have not thrown a code yet… will keep ya posted if it does.

This intake looks nice and sounds real nice! I can feel the power increase instantly. Installation was fast and easy with quality hardware. My only complaints are that the m4 screws supplied are too short for the inlet air temp sensor and the openings are not snug against the stock air inlet gaskets but I’m still overall very satisfied.

Afe intake manifold is next.

installation was under an hour and i felt like i got GREAT value for my money. the only thing that id say to anyone that buys the AFE get the dry filter as the oiled one will throw a code. there was never a driveability problem even with the code.

OEM quality product with OEM levels of sound and performance.

after inspecting and opening the box. i had all the parts to do the installing of it. after the installation i started the truck up and there was a total transformation from the stock air intake to this Airaid air box.

i had to try this because i put a fresh new 5. 4 liter motor into my 1998F-150. everything is new in my truck and i could not see using the old parts for this complete build i’ve been doing. i don’t even have 200 miles on the motor as of yet and the Airbox sure makes the best amount of horsepower produced out of the motor now.

i am so happy by the results i’ve got so far. i am not disappointed for anything i’ve been doing at this point of my build. so far i’m really pleased by all the results of the whole build. i can’t complain one bit.

the results of everything says it all. time to install this was just a few hours. but expect maybe 3-4 hours if you take your time and think about doing things right and not miss one step….

I installed this part on my 2004 GMC Sierra with the 5. 3 Vortec V8. Installation was easy and straight forward. I noticed an increase in power and smoother idle instantly. I can’t tell whether I’m getting better mileage yet.

The only thing I had to do was shorten the hose from the intake to the manifold, otherwise I would suggest this part to anybody interested in improving performance on these trucks.

After some research, I landed on this AirRaid CAI. First, the install was a snap. Maybe 45 minutes, the video from American muscle was clutch! As for performance, incredibly noticeable. This one small change put me from a 6.

4 0-60 to a 5. 9. And I’m getting tire spin, I’m confident I can get to 5. 6, not to shabby for a V6 Challenger. If I had one complaint, the seem is on the top of the filter which really screws with the look of the CAI.

What can I say. it’s an open element filter that just goes onto the stock air intake tubes, a bracket and some hose and clamps. It’s not by any stretch of the imagination a cold air setup, but there is no doubt that it flows more air than the stock air box with its ridiculously restrictive lid.

The good: Over all it’s a complete kit with everything you’ll need to install. It’s cheaper than the K&N kit which is pretty much the exact same. Definitely flows more than stock. The not so good: Fit and finish is adequate and workable, but not great.

The bracket took some fiddling and the stock airbox bracketry took some cutting and grinding to make the fit nice. Instructions aren’t the greatest, but it’s an air filter not rocket surgery o_0 You don’t really need instructions to figure it out.

There are no provisions to seal the filter from the hot under hood air. Although it looks just like a K&N it’s seems a bit more susceptible to creasing the pleats if you get a little rough during installation.

I’ve never seen that issue with the other brand. Let’s be honest here it’s pretty expensive for just an air filter and some hardware, even if it is less expensive than the virtually identical K&N.

Installed in 1994 Ford F-250 5.8L. It definitely makes a performance difference. More throttle response and it has a nice mild throaty sound when you get on it.

It’s awesome!!! Sounds great. Just added a BBK throttle body and you can really hear the air being ****** in.
