Best Indian Dishes For Beginners (2024 Updated)

Ive only made three of the recipes so far, Chana Masala, Butter Chicken and Onion Masala and they have all been excellent and easy to make with my new Instant Pot. Im looking forward to trying all the other dishes.

Fantastic value. Very simple design but looks stunning being an off white so adds a touch of class to any dinner setting. Fully dishwasher safe. And have found out they bounce well if dropped by mistake!! Slightly more than usual dinner service but u do get 6 place settings, serving platters (great for starters) and cup n saucer.

I would definitely recommend this even as an everyday item. A real talking point that you will have the upper hand on where u brought them from.

I already owned this dinner set and was so hoppy with it I ordered a second set. Unfortunately some items were damaged probably while in transit.

Perfect for individual appetizers or mini desserts. Lovely design, wish they will come in other sizes too!

The Tikka Masala is simply delicious! I’ve used it with tofu as well as chicken, and I add various vegetables added, and it’s always outstanding! I first cook the veggies in large saucepan, then pull them out, then I cook the tofu (or chicken) then I add the sauce and veggies (sometimes I’ll add a little milk, or half & half (soy milk great too) and at the end, I’ll add fresh basil bits.

This is a great alternative to ordering in. It has a great taste though not quite as spicy as I like it but otherwise it was restaurant quality. It was at a decent price point as well. I’m a satisfied foodie who will purchase this product again as well as recommended to others.

I picked this product up at my local Weis Market. I’m always curious about sauce packets to help make my last minute dinners more flavorful and easy. I love Thai Red Curry to being with so this was an obvious choice! The flavor is very nice.

It isn’t a burning heat but the curry does give it a nice kick. I would say if you are feeding a family, use two packets as just one isn’t enough (in my opinion). Very easy to use and affordable. I’ve purchased other sauce packets from this brand and have been thoroughly satisfied! Really recommend for a quick weeknight dinner.

If I could give them 10 stars I would. I bought these plates back in late April of this year off Amazon. Around June , I was taking the dishes out of the dishwasher and I chipped one! I was so upset because these were already by far my favourite plates and I had already ruined one of them.

It was already past the return/replacement time through Amazon and I thought I needed to buy a whole new set. I reached out to Stone Lain Support and they informed me that they unfortunately do not sell individual plates and that they are sold as a 4pk.

They asked me for some basic if information (order number, picture, etc. ) I proceeded to ask how much a 4pk was. They came back not even 24hours later and stated that as an exception they were able to send me 1 replacement plate!!! I was so happy that I was able to get a replacement without buying a whole new 4pk (since I didn’t need all 4).

Definitely amazing customer experience, very responsive and willing to help out a customer. Will absolutely be purchasing more Stone Lain products in the future!!.

These plates have help up very well for my family and I so far. I mean. For how many plates and bowls you get for the price, I really can’t complain too much. I made fun of the bowls calling them “dog bowls” when I had seen photos of them.

However, in person they look much better. If I were to really nit-pick on something about these dishes, it would be the paint gives it a slight texture. So if you’re the type of person that does not like the sound of silverware scraping on anything.

You may want to steer clear. Especially if you have a spouse like me that LOVES to scrape the last few remnants of what I was eating from my bowl. (Especially ice cream) At the current rate, these plates will be around longer than I will.

I purchased a set online, in gray. When I opened the box, I found one of the large plates in pieces. The box was too heavy for me to return to my local Sam’s Club, so I kept the remainder of the set.

I absolutely loved the weight and style of the dinnerware set. The first time I washed them in the dishwasher, I noticed what appeared to be a white film on one of the bowls. No matter what I tried, I couldn’t get the film off.

Over a period of a month the “film” started appearing on the entire set. I finally determined it wasn’t a film, but was actually the color coming off. If you purchase this set, I highly recommend that you wash by hand!!.

I got the Butter Masala from Meijer. This was the first time I tried any Maya Kaimal products. I sauted chicken tenderloins with green pepper, onion, ground ginger ground cloves, black pepper and salt.

Then I added steamed broccoli and coliflower with the sauce and simmered for at least fifteen minutes. I poured mine over a bed of Basmati rice and enjoyed! The flavor was perfect! Now I want to try all their products! Huge fan! I will definitely be making this again.

I tried this because I saw a vlogger on YouTube make a simple dish from it, admitting that it’s not authentic but still pretty good. My husband and I loved it. Nothing you make at home can ever duplicate restaurant quality but still pretty tasty and fast.

To speed up the process I used frozen fully cooked Tyson diced chicken and sliced up some sweet peppers; sauted that on high until the chicken had brown edges and the sweetness of the peppers came through.

Then added the sauce, simmered for 5 minutes before adding a bit of shrimp and allowing it to simmer the rest of the way with the stove off. Served with basmati rice and Broccoli florets. Easy dinner.

This stoneware has substantial weight to it and the design is unique (not round and not square). It creates a regal place setting. The colors are a mix of a true green, black, brown, and olive green.

These dishes are awesome in my kitchen that includes a lot of wood, black trim, and stainless steel. It is as if these dishes were designed specifically with me in mind. The dishes were double boxed and received in excellent condition with no chips, breakage, or other mars.

We were able to purchase them through Office Depot for less than any other retailer was offering them for. I was hesitant at first because I was unsure of the coloring but once received they definately lived up to my hopeful expectations.

I would definately purchase these again.

I love this set. Arrived quickly & undamaged. Only gripe is with the lack of quality control. One of the mug’s outside hobnails had a pretty severe nib of unfinished ceramics that was significant & very sharp.

The bottom of one of the dessert plates where it rested in the kiln on a wire had a similar sharp nib. Neither being worth repacking & shipping back. I hand sanded them down with a fingernail emery board until smooth.

Not a deal breaker. I ordered a second set. Outside is a natural oatmeal tweed color. The interior yellow is more like a dijon mustard with the seed-like speckles mixed with a darker banana color. It’s not screaming yellow mustard.

Nice & heavy, solid. Very pretty, so worth the price. Very pleased.

Nice beautiful book, contains a lot more pages than I thought, but thats a good thing. I definitely recommend this book for Indian dishes. This book contains a lot of delicious recipes that are worth trying out.

First of all, I did not get the hard copy advertised; instead it’s digital. That I have not had a chance to thoroughly examine (just arrived yesterday), but it appears to be mostly text with fewer recipes than I’d like.

We enjoy Indian food; I would’ve loved several recipes that’d work with American techniques and markets.

Saw this recommended by Deb at Smitten Kitchen and it didn’t disappoint. A good starting point for anyone interested in adapting Indian recipes to a Western kitchen. Author raised in Texas by Indian immigrant parents.

The recipes are her mother’s and primarily vegetarian which suits me fine.

Such a nice curry, really enjoyed eating it and have used lots of curry kits like this before. Unfortunately for a good 24/36hours after eating it the whole kitchen and even up the stairs absolutely stank.

The smell seemed to cling to my clothes and hair and to all the furniture and just really put me off the curry. Won’t be buying again BUT was delicious! Didn’t find any smells in other curry kits lingering like this one!.

A mediocre dinnerware set, nothing special, you get what you pay for. The cups are a joke, they are tiny, so will end up in the bin

Practical? YES! Quality and timeless not too modern style – unbeatable. Plates hold in sauces, good sized, as we say in fabric reference ‘nice hand’ (glaze texture). Elegant w/o tacky cutesiness. Outstanding value sold for MUCH more (up to 3 times more plus shipping?!) other places and even mentioned Real Simple [I think].

Unsure if I’ll still be around then, I gave this set as an early ‘her first apartment’ gift to a pre-teen [yes, perhaps a bit early, but I know the kiddo) because there are sentimetal familial feelings associated which she knows.

Lots of great memories and a start of a life-long friendship. The precocious girl “mini-she” knows, plus it’s a grown up gift. [I see a handsome gray version added now!] She’s free to let others use the set or set aside for later, but SHE and no one else is in charge.

No Barbie silliness for her (ok, from others). This aunt can be gushy weepy sentimental AND practical, darn it! Hands off, Mom!!!.

I found these in the back corner of my local store that said limited edition, where on sale, and I just love them. I didn’t take them out for a couple of days after I bought them and when I did one of the bowls was cracked right down the middle.

I even looked for most damage free box. I did not want to return them because they are heavy and one bowl cracked I guess was OK for me, they wash alright in the dishwasher but hand washing and drying seems the best.

The bottoms are rough but I haven’t had any of them scratch the others while stacking them. There were a few bubbles in the paint but not to bad. Overall I like them and would recommend.

These dishes are great! The print on them is the same placement on all of them, wish they would’ve been random and on the mugs the graphic stops with an inch gap with no print where the handle is. I still love the set thought, however, one bowl arrived broken in my package.

A Christmas present my daughter will enjoy for years! She loves this pattern on just about everything. She will be thrilled! Thank you!

Excellent cookbook with a short discussion on the merits of each dish at the beginning. Not too simple but easy to follow once you have the spices to hand.

Really does make learning to cook Indian food straightforward. Love the book with enticing colour pictures. Have bought a copy for a friend as I liked mine so much.

I never have very high expectations when it comes to frozen Indian food. I do have to say this was pretty good. The rice is what makes it. It’s spiced perfectly and is so good. The spinach paneer itself was pretty bland, but when you mix it with the rice, it comes to a pretty good combination.

I would consider buying this again.

#Amyskitchendeliciousness Amy knows what the heck she is doing in her Kitchen. She is keeping us eating right, when we are on the go. The indian dishes are my personal fav’s. How ever i have had a few of her mexican bowl creations that are absolutley wonderful.

She has low salt varieties as well. I do appreciate Amys choices in organic cuisine however i also like my Salt. Its rare that i need it on Amys dishes, but its better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.

Ive bought it before and ill buy it again. Someday, ill be super popular,and be too busy opening my millions of Vox boxes, i simply wont have time to cook. It is then, I will buy a freezer full, of #Amyskitchen.

J/k Amy. If i waited for that to happen, the apocalypse would not be far behind, I assure you. Until then, I will be getting some more #Amyskitchen at the grocery store. Its that good. Try it. You wont be disappointed =.

This was hands down the ONLY frozen microwavable meal that I’ve ever had, that tastes fresh and homemade! The chicken is sssoooo juicy and delicious! The rice is cooked to perfection and the sauce hits all of the right taste buds.

I am definitely going to be switching to this whenever I want a quick and easy meal. I mean, even my picky eaters loved it!.

I’m very picky when it comes to “frozen dinners” but this was delicious! This is perfect for a quick light lunch or dinner, paired with naan bread, and you can feel good about it being it has no artificial ingredients or antibiotics! I also love that every purchase benefits the Deepkiran Foundation, that helps children in rural India access education! Great food that supports an even better cause!!.

I’ve had plenty of authentic Indian food, and while this frozen meal is good, I’m speaking from the perspective and with the expectation that is it frozen and not fresh. For being frozen, this food is absolutely delicious! The flavor profiles are all there, it tastes pretty dang close to real Tikka Masala, and the chicken itself was tender and good too.

Will definitely be buying again when I’m in the mood for Indian food but not wanting to eat out. My only complaint is the rice is very dry, but the star of the show is fantastic considering it’s frozen and cheap.

My family loved this!!! The product I got from Costco looks a little different from the one described below but we needed to use both pouches to feed a family of 4. The chicken pieces were just the right size for biting (not too big, not too small) and the sauce was perfect.

It has a slight tanginess to it which is quintessential in Indian cuisine but also has that lovely tomato flavor that you want in your masala. It’s hard to get all 4 people to agree they liked something and want to have it on the menu again – and this was one of those times! This will be a home run in your house!.

The Sukhi’s Chicken Tikka Masala was absolutely delicious! The flavor was beyond amazing and just perfect. The chicken was mouthwatering and so tender. The rice was perfect and the Nann bread was excellent also.

This is my favorite go to frozen meal and in some respects better or just as good as restaurant food. I’m buying several to keep on hand next time.
