20 Best Hunting Boots For Walking (2023 Updated)

Bought for my son. He just spent two weeks in the woods of Northern Wisconsin hunting, logging and playing in the woods. He said he submerged them in streams numerous times with no water intrusion at all.

He also said they were very comfortable all day long and required no break in. Insulation level was perfect in the 15-30 degree temps while active but a little light for sitting in a tree stand for hours, however, there was enough room in the toe box for some foot warmers which made them acceptable for that situation.

Overall, a great boot for most situations. He was super glad he had them.

My feet run wide- in running shoes, I’m a wide in New Balance and with Nike, their wide is still a bit small for me. I read the reviews, noted some folks said these ran wide but still elected to buy wide figuring the extra room would accommodate thick socks- I shouldn’t have.

Thankfully SG made the return painless. I ended up with the regular width and they fit fine with thick socks and my wide feet. First day out, I walked 2 miles and they were pretty comfortable. They’re no $150 Wolverines, but they are closer than the price would suggest.

Small issue- they rubbed a little funny on my left ankle but seemed to get better the farther I walked. So far as water proof? Not fully tested- rapidly walked across a shallow stream and they were fine.

Time will tell if they hold up but they seem reasonably well constructed.

Purchased for early season hunts. Only worn them several times now, so I’m still breaking them in. They fit me well and feel comfortable to wear. I have to cross a shallow creek to get to my stands. I need dry feet.

While I don’t have to completely submerge my boots underwater, they do get wet on the outside. So far, no moisture has gotten in. These boots serve the purpose I bought them for.

Ok. yes, these boots are large. They’re like wearing ski boots or something to protect your foot after breaking an ankle. I can all but guarantee people will comment about their size. Driving a vehicle with them on isn’t easy, either – keeping a foot on just one pedal can be tricky.

And, lacing them up tight always feels more difficult than it should be. However, they’re also surprisingly warm in negative temps and even (for me) comfortable in barely freezing weather. I’m the photographer for the Colorado Snow Sculpting Championship and will spend the entire event on-site (16 to 20 hrs per day) in sub-freezing temperatures (negative teens *F) – often in ankle- to shin-deep snow.

For the last 7 years, my feet were always painfully cold regardless of what I wore and I thought I’d take a chance on these ridiculously large, monolithic, super-insulted boots if I could just keep my feet from non-stop bordering on frostbite.

Best money I ever spent! I had to return my first pair and exchange them for a half size smaller. Other than that, they’re surprisingly comfortable with just a single pair of wool socks and somehow breath well enough that my feet don’t swelter when it’s ‘only’ just freezing outside.

Pairing these up with a set of large Yaktrax (or equivalent) gave me all day comfort and traction on snow and ice. The rest of my body with multiple layers and a full snow outfit would sometimes get cold, but my feet this year were the only thing that stayed comfortable.

If I could figure out how to make these the official boot of the event, I would do so. They really are that good. Finally, I’ve also made these boots my go-to for shoveling snow. We’ve have multiple snowfalls of 12″+ and clearing it from my property will easily take 3 to 4 hours of non-stop activity.

These boots have held up spectacularly for this purpose and have broken in and become quite comfortable. Bottom line. if you can get past their oversized appearance and break them in, this will be your favorite, extreme cold-weather boot.

I own a Lodge in Alaska. I work in extreme cold throughout the winter. Today was -40F and I wore these boots. They are warm and comfortable. They are bulkier than hiking boots of course, as you would expect from snow boots.

But these boots are very good for the price. They are built really well and are very sturdy. I am pretty sure I will have these boots for many winters to come. I absolutely recommend these boots for extreme cold.

I have other boots from Baffin which are 3x as expensive as these boots and these Guide Gear boots perform just as well. I even purchased a pair for my wife. These are snow boots, they are not for hiking and I would not wear these for tempratures above 32F.

I was skeptical when these first arrived since they’re bulky. I bought them as a gift for my husband for Christmas. He was injured in a farm accident a couple years ago and now has a extremely hard time keeping the one foot warm during hunting season.

These boots not only keep his feet warm with no issues but he says are easy to walk in despite the bulky look. He’s finally happy to be out hunting again. They fit true to size, and arrived quickly. Normally he would buy a wide boot but these still fit without being too snug so don’t be disappointed that they aren’t in a wide size offering.

I don’t wear a wide boot and tried his on and they also fit me so you won’t have to worry they’re flopping all over if you don’t need the wide cut.

I grew up on over 3000 acres, joined the Infantry at 19 and served 10 years, worked 20 years standing on concrete, hunted for over 40 years so you can say I have worn my share of boots. I have worn Timberlands to Cochran’s from rubber boots to G.

I. Issue and these are the best waterproof, insulated, comfortable, lighter, boots I could find. I looked at every brand and type and many of the top names have reviews that say the waterproof wears out in a year.

Didn’t see any leaky reviews on these. Hiked 4 miles in marsh lands today and feet were bone dry. I usually do this hike in rubber boots and my legs are beat by the time I get done. Rubber boots are heavy and awkward.

I felt good at the end of day and don’t expect sore legs in the morning. No break in period needed, no blisters or hot spots. Boots do feel a little big on your feet but that’s comparing them to a pair of Cochran’s and those are slippers, just not waterproof.

I knew they were good when I saw the Vibram soles. My feet and legs feel like I walked the dog in tennis shoes compared to my last walk in rubber boots. Only question I have is how long will the waterproof last? Expecting good performance.

Boots run true to size and my feet are a little wide and they fit fine in these. Order your true size.

I wore these for about a day inside the house and just were not that comfortable. Also made mostly of synthetic “leather” and thin nylon cloth on the camo part. Sole is not very thick. I put arch support insoles in them as soon as they were out of the box.

The sizing is 1/2 size larger than normal on me. I normally wear a 9 1/2 and the 9 fit fine. I ordered both sizes to see which one I needed. I sent back both pairs. I think with wearing them outside for my farm/ranch work they will not stand up to the wear and tear.

I am used to wearing Gen 4 Danner Pronghorns and Kenetreks, so way heavier and sturdier boots. I do wear Vaprtreks and will continue getting them as my “light duty” boots. These may work out for others, but I think they are over priced for what’s in them for me.

Picked these up on sale just this month for next hunting season. I’ve worn them on a few day hikes already to break them in and I noticed right away how warm they are. They seem to be very well made.

Would have given them a 5/5, but the grip on ice is basically nonexistent. I’ve never had boots that are “great” on ice. Some are better than other thought and the soles of these are too hard for any grip on ice.

It was just like hard plastic sliding on smooth ice. Every other surface I found the traction to be good enough for me, including hard packed snow that vehicles had driven over. So other than zero grip on ice, I think these boots are awesome!.

I’m a grade checker, which means I hike a lot of slopes on dirt and am constantly on my feet, around 6 miles a day through rough terrain with tool bags on. Got these a few weeks ago and wanted to break them in before I wore them at work.

Threw them on a hiked 6 miles and my feet have never been more comfortable. I’ve worn them 8-10 hours a day every day for work and they’re so comfortable I’m wearing them on my backpacking trip through Death Valley this weekend over my Merrell boots.

I would like to know if they make this exact pair with steal or composite toe cause I want to buy a second pair to use for work and keep these for hiking. The fit is pretty spot on too, I wear a size ten but constantly have to go between a 9 1/2 and 10 1/2 depending on the boot l.

These in a 10 fit perfect. The high ankle with gor-tex is comfortable and give great ankle support. Needless to say I think I’ve found my favorite boots for a long time to come.

I bought these for a backcountry trail work season, which entailed long daily hikes and backpacking heavy loads for 10 days at a stretch through mud, scree, talus, sand, snow and ice. I lived in these things.

The Good: These boots are super comfy right out the box. No break-in required, comfy as a pair of slippers, ankle support is great for heavy loads, sole was nice and grippy in everything but ice and they were decently breathable.

The fit was right too, they accommodated foot swelling while also being snug enough to where no blisters ever formed. I cannot overstate how comfortable these are compared to other work boots i’ve had The Not so good: They lasted me for the season and that’s all.

That’s June to November, not even a year of daily use. The lace hooks have a tendency to bend a little, I had to use pliers on one to be able to free my lace. The underside of the eyelets also have a tendency to fray your laces after a while( there’s a small portrusion right around the rim that i ground down after i went through two pairs of laces).

The waterproofing will not last for very long, that one small seam near the toebox will be the first to split open. There isnt much support on the insole. Tread isn’t very aggressive and flattened out in high-wear spots relatively quickly although the grip didn’t suffer THAT much.

Now, I don’t know if I just walk weird or what but in the last month of wearing them, the soles actually bent outwards on both boots, forcing my feet into a weird uncomfortable position. In summary, so very comfortable but durability suffers because of it.

Probably would be really good for casual outings, just not trail work.

This is my second pair of these boots. My first pair is about two years old and in great shape. I bought the second pair to keep at a relative’s house in Upstate New York where I am right now. The tongue on the first pair was not sewn correctly but I manage to deal with it.

Once I received the second pair in inspected the tongues. They were both sewn correctly. Both pair are not insulated but with heavy socks can be worn in this cold weather for a reasonable time. They are very waterproof, but not really snow boots.

However, they are excellent three season boots for hiking and working outdoors.

I’ve been using these boots 5 days a week for 3 months now and I truly enjoy these boots they are a tank that tracks through any terrain you can think of, without feeling a thing or even noticing romping though 2 inch sticks.

2 things to know before buying 1)they are very stiff at first. For me, it was a whole 2 weeks of stomping around before they had any give, they were still very comfortable, but I was literally walking around like Frankenstein though before they broke in enough for a normal gait, And now that they have, they are a still a solid (comfortable) boot that should last the test of time (hoping to get at least 3 years) 2) They are not light weight trail boots, I switched over to these from a pair of Solomon Quest 4D GTX Forces, and these(Desert Guides) are better but a completely different animal.

I really believe tank is the best description for the Desert Guides. When your feet are in a battle with elements you want them to be in a Cadillac lined tank, if that makes any sense. I will definitely buy another pair when if every my current pair dwindles in comfort.

They could use a bit longer laces though Kenetrek if your listening. I always Ankle wrap tie my boots for better ankle support and to keep down friction burns/ hot spots. The laces can do it, but just barely.

Also advise on weather or not the water repellent will adversely effect the breathability of the desert guide.

I bought these boots for trekking rocky, steep terrain and forest trails. The Kenetrek Hardscabbles are extremely supportive. I especially like the very stiff sole support for walking over sharp rocks and tree roots.

I happen to have arthritis in my big toe, right foot. Nomally very painful to walk, even on normal roads. But with the stiff sole, which has a rocker built in, walking/hiking is not a problem. I was amazed by this.

I inserted a pair of Superfeet trekking orthotics, a nice addition, but the insoles that come with the Kenetreks are very good quality and most likely just as good. I trated the leather with Kenetrek wax, which I found preferable to sno-seal or LP wax.

The Kenetrek is primarily a beeswax formula that won’t damage the rubber rand or weaken the stiching, and it works extremely well. Hiked through a very muddy, wet trail, submerged in water and mud up to the tops of the boots and afterwards noted that the insides were perfectly dry as the outersides beaded water.

These boots have a very stiff sole and will require some break in to obtain some flex, but after the break in they are extremely comfortable. The one piece leather tongue is a very nice touch. I bought a half-size larger than what the brannock (foot measurement) device read.

It read 11. 5 and I bought a 12 medium. This provides extra room for thick hiking socks or two pairs in the very coldest winter conditions. Pricey, but no regrets. Sometimes you actually get what you pay for.

Kenetreks are an extraordinarily well made boot that will last. I bought these after comparing them with the Crispi Nevadas, which were also very nice, but had too much flex in the sole for my liking.

It takes 50-100 miles to really break in the Kenetreks properly. Highly recommend these boots if you’re hiking rugged terrain.

I purchased these boots in 2019 after a few hunts in the Idaho Sawtooth Mountain Range. I didn’t want to post a review until I got a chance to beat the heck out of them. Took about 50 miles to break in, but ohhh was it worth it.

I like to stack a wool sock on top of a dress sock and ratchet these things down using the “Heel Lock” lacing technique. Go find an insole that actually fits the bottom of your foot. Factory insoles are never the right answer no matter what the price tag.

You gotta find something that properly fits the shape of YOUR foot. I used to limit my movement to a couple miles a hunt. Once I ruled my feet out of the equation. 15, 20+ miles a day is pretty easy to do when your feet aren’t sad at you.

I’ve spent days and days moving in rain, creek beds, frost and dew covered meadows, climbing granite faces, shale, loose-dry-sage embankments. stayed perfectly dry, and no foot slop at all. Granted. don’t expect the boots to be a miracle worker for poor planning.

If your pants get wet. your socks get wet and water moves down. Wear gators. be smart. have happy feet. I’ve got roughly 150-175 miles in these and could easily triple that before I need to send them in for a new rand and resole.

Keep the leather waxed and brush off the metal grommets. You’ll never remember the 500$ price tag. Buy these boots and go be awesome.

overall I would rate this as decent snake boots. + appears to be legit tough snake boots + nice and high on the calf. + They are waterproof + They are not hot and sweaty (average temp while I was working 60-70f, so they may be, i just havent experienced it.

) + Comfortable out of the box. + although high lace, they are flexible and I can actually move well – even though I ordered wide boots I could still barely slide my foot in the boot. – There was a hard nodule on my left boot that was causing a lot of pain.

i took a lighter and melted it down – The quick tie eyelets around the ankle are more a hassle than useful. If not for the quick tie lace rings I would highly recommend to a friend. I may lace them in such a way to bypass them in the future.

I am satisfied with my purchase.

These are the second pair of Rocky snake boots I’ve purchased. Nice boots. The first set has performed well the last two years. They are actually still in decent shape I just wanted new ones. No idea if they actually stop rattlesnakes fangs.

The new ones were sent with a small half inch cut on the top of the toe portion on one boot. It looks like someone tried repairing it by using glue to smooth it out. Still very noticable but I doubt it affects the use of the boot.

I let Rocky know when I registered the boots and also told them I was ok with the cut since I needed to use the boots and couldn”t send them back immediately. No response from them about that at all.

Aside from the cut, they are good boots and break in was minimal.

Worn only 2 times Don’t know if water proof or not- haven’t been n wet conditions yet I prefer leather over rubber because I live n the south and leather breathes better than rubber Got these to early season deer hunting and spring turkey season Snakes r very active here during these times of the year here.

I have been a tall, insulated rubber boot hunter since I got into whitetail hunting 14 years ago. One of those things where the first pair I bought were rubber, so that’s just what I stuck with. Last year, I decided to go with something more expensive and with laces – WOW.

What a difference! The rubber boots I had been wearing were heavy and clunky, and when I wanted to walk longer distances in the woods, it REALLY wore out my legs. Not to mention the stability wasn’t the greatest.

The Pronghorn boots fit tight due to the lacing system, are MUCH lighter (allowing me to hike far greater distances in the woods before needing to give my legs a break), have WAY better stability (This was the first thing I noticed on my first hunt with them), and are also very easy to get on and off.

On never seems to be an issue with rubber boots, its taking them off that can be a problem. They are also very warm, although for temps close to freezing, I needed warm socks and toe warmers in my boots.

Overall, these boots are VERY awesome for the money. I would buy another pair but these boots are also very rugged, taking a beating and cleaning up very well. It’s also worth noting that Danner’s customer service is top notch.

When I called to talk about buying boots, they guided me to the right pair, and I had a great time on the phone with the rep I spoke to. BOTTOM LINE: Go for it. Once you wear them, you’ll know. Matt Kuiper Hudsonville, Mi.

Need to make 1200grm in Women’s ! I’ve been using Danner boots for 35 years. I’ve owned other well made and high end boots before as well. This is my third pair of pronghorns and for good reason. Insulation value, they do a pretty good job for someone who gets cold feet.

But their immediate comfort is why I keep going back. On the first hunt of wearing them, I’ve never had issues with break-in. The third bonus is gore-tex. I’ve only worn this pair for a 10 day hunt, temps in single digits, lite snow, with no issues, but I have faith in gore.

You can spend more money on other brands, but I felt my money gets me a good return on the Danner Pronghorns I expect to have these for at least the next 5-7 seasons of archery, and gun season. I wear them on average of 45 days.

Strictly for Deer. I use my lighter insulated Pronghorns for Turkey season when I walk more. I am a women who “had” to purchase a size 7 mans boot because they no longer make one with more than 800grams of insulation for women.

Boot still fit great! What’s with that Danner?.

This is my 3rd pair of Pronghorn boots in the last 15 or so years with my first and second pair being bought and used around 10 years ago before I switched careers and went to Redwing (for which I did and can still choose a discount voucher).

All in all I’m not pleased with the latest version of this boot, I find that after around 7-8 hours of my 10-12 hour work day spent delivering raw materials for a concrete company my feet are very sore.

The way the tongue attaches to the boot leaves a ridge/pinch point on my feet (especially the right one) and yes I’m aware these are hunting boots designed to hug your feet snugly. Secondly I’m very disappointed in the quality of leather used in this model as I have a pair of Danner Quarry 2.

0 I’ve been wearing for the same amount of time (swapping out every other day) and the toe area on these have started to “flake” is the best way to describe it where the Quarry’s show no sign of wear under the same conditions which has only been about 3 weeks.

I’m planning on calling Danner tomorrow so I will update after talking to customer service. My first two pairs which I still have pair number 2 which I wear for yard work were worn 5-7 days a week as a carpenter lasting around 2-1/2 -3 years apiece before being replaced (due to the soles wearing out) in both residential and commercial with every type of footing one can imagine from dirt/mud to snow to concrete with no problems in either the leather falling apart or any pain in my feet working between 8-10 hours a day.

That being said I will say the Vibram soles on both boots is a major plus with both grip and comfort in any condition I currently encounter which varies quite greatly from soaking wet to super dry/dusty conditions.

After purchasing both pairs I would have and will in the future purchase the Quarry 2. 0 boots which is a shame as I was hoping to enjoy these with the light weight they offer. With these being a hunting boot I would have thought the leather would be a little tougher as the woods are no place for leather that cannot take a beating.

Nice boot. Kept my feet nice and warm. They are not waterproof: I sprayed some anti-moisture/rain water proofer on the boots, which kept them really dry. My boyfriend, however, bought the identical men’s version of this boot and he went without the water proofer; his boots were wet, which made his socks moist.

I recommend this brand of boot for warmth and comfort, but give it four stars for not being waterproof based on the above scenario.

These Boots are amazing!!! They would be so even at $100. 00 a pair! But at this reduced price. Wow! They are gorgeous to look at. They are light weight, yet have just the right amount of insulation.

There is no worry about “Breakin in”! They are ready if you are. I have coon hunted for over 50 years. Have never had a better Pair of “Hunting Boots”. Jim Davis.

So far, so good. Seem well built. Wore them at least 8 times walking the mountain turkey hunting. Took them through some pretty wet conditions and my feet stayed dry. Comfortable, supportive and warm.

They are a little on the stiff side, requiring more break in work. The laces are super thin and I don’t expect them to last long. We’ll see how long the boots hold up? I had a competitors boot prior to this that lasted over 8 years, felt broke in right out of the box, made 3 elk trips to Colorado and countless hunting adventures here at home.

Awesome pair of boots. After walking around town two days fir a total of 5 miles (which I didn’t really need to do), I wore them for two 8 hour days of hunting pheasants in Iowa! They are the more comfortable boots I’ve ever had! I have had Danners before and I should have stuck with them! The first day in Iowa was was extremely wet and my feet stayed totally dry – unlike the rest of my clothing and unlike my previous boots that can from RW, Minnesota! GoreTex truly does make a difference.

Please don’t change these boots – I’ll need a new pair in several years!.

Hunt, work, hike, shovel snow, run errands. I needed to replace my old, totally worn out do-everything boots. I have separate hunting boots that I like but have been grabbing these so far this year. Quick break-in.

Warm. Eight-inch rise keeps my pant legs from getting stuck in the tongue or heel. Good boots!.

Bought my Canadians back in 2015, hands down best boots I ever had on my feet. I am an upstate New Yorker and our winters will take it out of you. I took good care of them for some years, waxing them often in the winter.

Last year I was dropping an old dead uncooperative oak for firewood and it landed on my leg. Unfortunately the EMT had to cut them off, so I will replace them this Christmas or maybe try the Trophy. I am not exaggerating when I say my leg wouldn’t be here today, and I might not either if I hadn’t been wearing them.

There is no comparison. FYI – doin well, hauling firewood, doing my thing, staying away from dropping trees tho.

I wasn’t sure whether to write an honest review of these boots because I didn’t want to void my own warranty on them but here we go. Besides treating the leather and not being (totally) blindingly stupid about my apathetic disregard for the lifespan of anything I wear in the field, I will tell you in regards to the Canadian, it hasn’t mattered.

Truth be told, I thought tossing one of the more expensive pairs of Danner boots in the trash at the end of the year would be a badge of honor to me but these have proved me wrong. I’ll forgo all the qualifying statements about how many boots I’ve owned that failed after a year.

Simply put, I’m frustrated and delighted to admit these are going to be with me for a very long time. Buy them, I assure you they are worth every penny. The only complaint is the ridiculous plastic orthotic inserts that come with these boots.

I don’t mean to throw shade at the R&D guy at Danner who thought they hit a jackpot with these but maybe try wearing them in a pair boots for a day. Other than that, you can’t go wrong with these boots.

I have a pair of Danner Canadians. They were given to me as a gift within the past year. Wore them about 5 times upland bird hunting. They are staring to fall apart. Leather in certain spots looks almost like it is shrinking.

I’m afraid these will not hold up like my last pair did for over 20 years. This use to be one of the greatest boots you could find. I guess like most things corners were cut or just a bad pair. I take great care of my boots.

This pair is disappointing.

Bought these in my normal size. Length and width were overall ok but they were evidently designed with a sloppy fit across the forefoot. Could not lace tight enough to get a nice form fit. Design was just too loose in the middle.

Although they seemed ok in the living room – walking just a couple of hours in a grass field was tortuous. Since I had worn them Rocky would not take them back. Was out a $100. Tough lesson.

I have owned Rocky Boots for years. I have never owned a Rocky boot that didn’t fit to perfection. However, this boot is nowhere near Rocky’s quality. I wear a 11W and I am so disappointed in this pair of boots.

I would have to have a Sashquash foot to be able to comfortably wear it. The boot does not conform to any humans foot size or shape. Strange. When you have last that works, you don’t change it. Merrill seems to be my option.

Merrill does not change last sizes. An 11W is an 11W.

I bought these boots on sale for cheap and that is why I bought them. These boot have a roomy fit. I typically wear 11. 5w or 12w in Rocky but these I wear 11m. I think these boots are made in two or three different countries and depending on where the boots are made, the quality and fit are different.

The ones I have are made in china. I walk 3-10 miles on most days and spend a lot of time in boots. Rocky quality, fit and feel isn’t what it once was so it is hard to know how well they will hold up.

I look for them on sale because the usually don’t hold up and last long. I have around 15 miles on them and so far, so good. The are waterproof, I have tested them fully. They have good traction in rocky ground and in mud.

The fit is loose even in the right size so you have to lace them up tight to secure a good fit. The strings are too long and too stretchy but usable.

I purchased these to hunt Upland bird and small game here in New Hampshire. It took a couple hikes to break them in. They do run narrow. Once the leather got wet the boots stretched a bit and formed perfectly to my feet.

They are extremely comfortable. They really are waterproof. They are nicely padded at the ankles. With a pair of merino wool socks, these kept me warm and comfortable walking in the snow. I thought these boots were very expensive.

I was willing to spend the money for USA made quality and craftsmanship. I feel that’s exactly what I received. These were a great investment. I’m glad I bought a pair.

I am a cadastral survey technician for the colville National in Forest. I had these boots for three months and they did everything I needed them to. I bought these with the intention of hiking them into nonexistent.

The type of work I do was much too much for these boots, but would be great for anybody else. If I could’ve made these boots last longer I would’ve loved it, I’ve been tempted to buy several pairs just to have a stock of them because I like them so much.

I wish that I could upload pictures of them I have lost some of the tread on the bottom and the laces have since snapped, one of the eyelets has come off, but that’s all. Of course they aren’t as comfortable as when they are brand new compared to when they have been hiked in for 10 hours a day, but they are still one of the best cheap boots I’ve had.

I would recommend this boot for leisure!.

Very well constructed and nice looking but it s little narrower fit than it’s predecessor. especially in the toe area. Great ankle support and love the metal lace hooks. Big improvement over the old fabric lace straps that wore out in 1-2 years.

The sole is platform is narrower, which slightly affects sideways balance on rough ground. The other issue is that without a small rubber heel step on the back of the boot, it is much more difficult to remove the boot after a long day.

There is nothing to step on or grip to.

Good quality for $ in a light duty only boot, BUT when laced up tight your calf is held rearward at a slight angle such that there is unpleasant pressure on the front of your calf and it causes your heels to lift/pull from the heel pocket.

Test walk them thoroughly in-store before buying. I gave mine to Goodwill. If newer models have addressed that design flaw, they could be a decent light duty only cool not cold weather boot. Not enough insulation fir real freezing conditions.

I bought these years ago, wore them for a year and then stuck them under the back seat of my pickup truck as an emergency boot. I saw them when I was cleaning the truck and started wearing them again.

They are more comfortable than other boots I have that were more than double the price. Also – my size 13s are only 27 oz ea compared to 32 for my other insulated hunting boots and are just as warm.

These boots are comfortable and they are actually waterproof. Many boots i have owned claim to be water proof but are not. Ihave been winter backpaking with these boots in a foot of snow for 4 days. No cold feet.

No wet feet. After about 7 months of wearing these nearly every day, they are still in great shape. I am going to buy another pair tomorrow so that i will have a new pair on hand. Just in case they stop making or carrying them.

I bought these for work, I’m grounds crew at a hunting/fishing plantation. These things have been taking a beating for the last six months and they still look and feel great. The support is awesome in both the soles as well as the ankles.

I’ve applied waterproofing about once a month as I’m in water regularly. I will definitely spend the money on another pair whenever these finally wear out!!! The sizing was perfect.

These are great boots for still hunting where you hike and sit for longer periods of time. They have enough insulation to keep your feet warm when you’re sitting, but not burn you up when you’re hiking.

They took a bit for me to break-in, but once I was through the break-in process they’ve really performed well. The sole is stiff enough for hiking mountain sides, but remains comfortable. I usually wear a 9 in lacrosse rubber boots, but I had to size down to an 8 in these.

My typical shoe size is 8. 5.

Bought these over the winter, super comfortable, very light weight. Good ankle support as well, would not have a bad thing to say, until bad luck struck in the turkey woods. Got caught on a piece of barb wire, and that was that.

Huge gash over the toe, totally ruined. Fit, comfort, weight, price all 5/5. Durability not a 5, but tough to hold my particular circumstance against the shoe. Attempted to patch/repair, unfortunately didn’t work.

I would recommend the shoe, may even repurchase, but if the ripstop nylon integrity is breached, the shoe is ruined. Lesson learned, watch your step I guess.

Purchased in July and received in late October. Non necessarily the website’s fault. Fit out of the box was great. High arch, supportive, squishy and very sneaker like with little to no beak in period.

Rotated out with another pair and only recently got test the waterproofing. Wet grass and a lite rain proved to be too much for their 100% waterproofing. For the claim of 100% waterproofing, they should be.

I got the boots a day before going out for an Cow Elk rifle hunt, the first day out it rained all day long. my feet stayed dry and warm! I ordered a half size larger, since these don’t come in a wide size.

I’d recommend the same for anyone with a wide foot, the extra room was perfect. Even with no break in time they were comfortable, by the third day they were like slippers. The soles work awesome in dry to light mud, but in the thick stuff they were a little slick.

That’s the only knock I can come up with. I did plenty of brush crashing and so far no signs of damage or wear. A great option for a lightweight boot, very comfortable.

Bought these as an insulated mountain hunting boot for cold weather use. I have used them on late season hunts (including backpack hunts) when mountaineering-style boots don’t give enough warmth. Overall they are warm / dry/ functional.

I have waded creeks (plus gaiters) multiple times a day with no leaks. They handle temps below freezing so long as you are moving a bit between glassing / sitting sessions, even with surface wetness on the boot.

While not built for it, they are also sturdy enough to handle heavy pack weights for short to medium distances or moderate weight for longer. And very very comfortable for all-around wear. All positive in 90%+ of situations.

The places you may see challenges are with heavier off-trail use, longer daily mileage, dealing scree or rock, steeps, and heavier loads at distance or pack outs. You’d definitely want stiffer / tighter fitting / heavier for those situations.

But not everyone deals with that, and I think these are otherwise a great all-around hunting boot that is well made, reliable, warm and comfortable when used as its design was intended.

I bought these boots and took them out on a 4 day deer hunt. First of all they are not a strong boot very flimsy. The waterproof did not work at all and it hardly rained. My feet were soaking wet the rest of the time.

The insoles got torn up just from walking and laces very week. I tried to take them back and return them with the cabelas boot policy. They wouldn’t not take them even tho they were obviously a defected boot.

They people at cabelas could not tell my why they couldn’t take them or even send them back to danner! Please don’t buy this boot they will not meet your standards.

Wow what great feeling boot with solid support, light weight and awesome cushion! It all went down the drain literally when I walked across a dew laden field. My wife’s feet were dry in her oboz and my were soaked wet.

I was so disappointed and then mad – these boots are not the least bit waterproof and I feel they should not be advertised as such. Cabela’s took them back and apologized. I have 3 danner boots and they fit me great but this was a joke, I could of got more water protection from a pair sneakers.

I had only wore them hunting 3 times and then this bs happened in the field. Back to lacrosse.
