20 Best Humidifier For Hard Water (2023 Updated)

I miss the last Vorando humidifier we had. It down within 8 months. I called Best Buy and was informed they no longer carry the brand. I called the company and was informed that model was discontinued.

I ordered another model not realizing that it only blows cold air. I kept it because it works well so far. The unit is much louder then the previous one and can wake me during the night. This is a one reason why I am rating so low.

The other reason is one must continually purchase replacement sponges for the unit. The unit is easy to keep clean with a little bleach and water.

We had ultrasonic humidifiers for years. We had the choice of white dust everywhere or dumping cash into distilled water. Realizing this wasn’t a healthy choice, bought the vornado ev200. Goodbye chapped lips, dry noses and distilled water bills! So thankful for this find.

While we have to replace filters often with our terrible well water, it’s $20 vs almost $200. Thank you vornado. Made in the USA is a HUGE a plus. Super pleased.

I find the lids to the water containers being on the bottom a bit cumbersome. I thought I was going to be able to fill them from the top with a pitcher of water. If you look at the picture, it looks like the top should unscrew.

Also, it sometimes takes me quite a while to set the caps so that they screw in – they bobble. I should mention that I’m 78. I have eczema and live in California, a rather dry state, so I keep my humidifier running all the time.

I hope the humidifier lives up to my old Honeywell. I was going to buy another, but Honeywell seems to have exited the humidifier business.

I bought this humdifier in November, 2018. When it works it’s awesome but it has a major design flaw. Namely, when one tank runs dry, the other tank doesn’t always kick in. This happens about 50% of the time.

If you jiggle the tank that’s still full, it does eventually work, but c’mon Honeywell. Really? This flaw applies to both tanks regardless of position. As someone mentioned, the humidifier goes through filters quickly but the best solution is to NOT flip the filter at all.

The bottom part stays absorbent that way. If you flip the filter, you’ll notice the top half gets crusty. The crusty part doesn’t absorb water. If you flip the filter, it appears that the filter has died when in actual fact you can still get up to a month of use out of it by simply not touching it.

If you routinely flip it, it only lasts half as long. Another useful tip that applies to all wicking humidifiers, after about 2 weeks, put two to three drops of hand sanitizer in the water every second or third day.

The hand sanitizer kills the odor causing bacteria that builds up in the filter. And no, the hand sanitizier does not cause the tank problem. The tank problem existed for months before I started adding hand sanitizer.

All in all, half the time it’s great, the other half it sucks. You never know which part of the cycle you’ll be in. I didn’t return it because when it works it’s great, but be prepared to endure several days of frustration occasionally.

I was extremely surprised by the size of this Air Humidifier! The sheer size of the box is almost overwhelming! I wasn’t too fond of the outside packaging however it goes in line with all Honeywell products so I can’t quite complain too much about this, however it would somewhat deter me from buying it if it doesn’t have a more appealing packaging design.

It doesn’t look too plasticy, more sturdy that I expected. Now the size gave me a bit of a headache since I wanted to put it in the living room since it’s the busiest room of my 1 room apartment and thats absolutely cramped.

The size and the need to be away 30cm from the walls can quickly become a negative on this humidifier. I ended up placing it in my kitchen, next to my kitties food – they luckily don’t mind the noises and are perfectly fine with it.

I do think it’s affecting both rooms though so that’s a very nice thing to have rather than buying multiple small humidifiers. I’m also tempted to bring it to work instead of my home since I spend more time there.

I would prefer the white version of the the black any day since black plastic typically looks less elegant to me. Also white would go with my furniture better and not stand out in the corner of my eye.

Putting it together was another bit of a hurdle, but that’s to be expected with an item this size being wrapped securely. Lot’s of trash after you unpack it as usual as well. I was a little confused on how to get to the wicker thing on the inside, didn’t see that the top had to be lifted off.

It’s also important to note that the top is what is connected to the power, so no dangers of sloshing water all over the bottom (hopefully the top part will be not near it in that case). After figuring that out, wetting the wicker thing and placing it back inside I had to fill up the side tanks.

I need to say I absolutely hate the side tank grips… The plastic lids are always clipping out and falling around, and I can’t quite lift the tanks when they are full since the hand is in such a weird position.

Lot’s of water is splashed if the tanks are too full – so I now refill them much lower than I did the first time. I leave it on the daily humidification setting rather than the high or medium setting, that way I don’t have to worry about it.

I’m disappointed that it doesn’t show the room temperature & humidity. Why wouldn’t a product include this if it’s designed to adjust your room air? It’s not too loud on the lower settings and it’s noise quickly fades into the background where I don’t hear it anymore.

The first reaction was that I’m just not yet used to the noise which wore off very soon. I’m noticing a difference of my lip and skin dryness not being as bad when I’m at home in the living room where I placed the humidifier.

I haven’t gotten sick yet so I’m not sure if that’s just me being lucky this year or if the humidifier is helping in that aspect haha… So we will see if there will be further improvements over time!.

When I saw this at Amazon for much less with an instant coupon, I said I am going to buy it and try. After having placed the order, I went and searched to learn how this works on a 24 DC. It was fun to know that DC machines have come a long way (more so due to EV automobiles) since I last learned as a student.

I assembled the fan as soon as I got it Amazon. It was a breeze to assemble (only thing I had problem I had was removing and installing the screw holding the fan grill as it was at 6 O’clock position (at my age, I have to see things visually and I can’t stand upside down.

I guess this is the price we pay to make things beautiful. It could have been at 3 or 9 position for easy screwing!) The fan operates very quite and puts out enough air, cool (as I was on my elliptical machine some 6 feet away) because it is a small motor and is not working hard like the Vornado fans that I have.

Out of curiosity, I connected an energy meter and found it was taking around 15 watts at the speed 9 setting, an impressive energy efficient machine. I was so impressed that I went ahead and got another one for my bed room.

Perhaps because the next day was recycling trash collection day in my city, I threw away the box in a hurry without realizing it came with a remote. I contacted the company immediately via email. Dye from Customer Care Team replied immediately and got the issue resolved immediately by mailing me a replacement.

Great customer service. I am pleased with the power thrifty fan. Now I have to see how long it lasts. Since I am not going to move it too much and since the technologies used in it have matured enough (the AFC to DC power converter, DC motor, controller), I do not expect any problem.

When I first got the product I could not open the part where the water is poured into the machine. The cover was on so tight!. I tried my rubber grippers. I tried rubber grippers with large channel lock pliers for half an hour.

I got on the phone and called the company and explained that I got the new product and I cannot get the lid off as it was on so tight. Rather than give me a simple suggestion on what to do to get the lid off thdy asked for my order number.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I just spent a half hour trying to get the cover off and you can’t give me a simple answer. That is crappy customer service. I went back to the internet to look for a solution since the company was clearly not interested in helping me.

Suggestion included running thd lid under hot water. Then trying to open. That got it open with the channel locks. It worked great for a couple months then I took a break. Then in August 2022 I started using it again.

I went to take off the lid and it was on super tight again and I could not get it open. I had to get out the rubber grip pads and the large channel lock pliers to open it. This is an extremely annoying problem with this device.

I am a lady in her 60s and I should not have to work this hard to refill the water in this machine. It requires frequent refills. I would not recommend this equipment or this companies customer service.

I purchased this lamp a second time this past December because one year ago I purchased my first one and loved it. However upon receiving this new lamp it did not work properly. Whenever I lowered the lighting part closer to my desk the bar attached to the base would collapse.

I immediately contacted customer service and got a response right away. Sicily immediately sent a replacement that arrived in a couple of days. I highly recommend if something you order is defective call them first and they will take care of you.

These systems would put out so much water, the area in the plenum would start to rust! When one of the steam humidifiers float system failed, I caught it just in the nick of time before it flooded the attic floor.

Obviously, this would have spelled disaster for the finished space below. When this happened, I knew it was time for a change. What attracted me to the Aprilaire 80 was the simplicity of the maintenance and the protective backup systems which would prevent this from happening.

Also, by changing the power source to 220v, I could install one Aprilaire 80 on the basement air handler, and take care of the upper floors too. I have been thrilled with this system, and I plan to have it for many years to come.

The Aprilaire 80 brought the whole house humidity levels up to comfortable levels, and I didn’t notice a marked increase in my electric bill to do it. Thank you Sylvane, for providing a quality, and well made product.

I have had my vornado for now the second winter. I just came in to see why mine never helped our bedroom. I see now that there is actually suppose to be a mist and we NEVER saw a mist in all the times running it.

Expensive and not worth it. I have now seen many reviews of this happening on other sites who sell them.

I love this product . It Purifies the air very well. Love it couldn’t ask for more. I love using it when there is pollen outside . It helps with my alergies

The Cool mist humidifier has helped me tremendously. I can breathe better at night. I finally get better sleep.

It is very compact and blend in unobtrusively into the rooms’ decor but still hold about 1 1/2 gallon of water and produce an ample amount of vapor. it is easy top fill and have easy to understand/use controls.

Lights can be turned off for night time use if that bothers as it does me. I am most impressed by how quiet they are and are the quietest humidifiers I have ever used. Very good value for the price.

I love this humidifier! The design is beautiful and it lasts longer than any humidifier I’ve had. Atleast a full 24 hours each run. I love how the essential oils go in separate and not in the tank so it’s easy to clean and it’s less work on the entire tank.

So far it’s working great and we haven’t had any issues.

Super quiet. Easy to use. Easy to fill. I have had this product for a week and am so happy with it. Humidity is just where I want it in the room. Doesn’t make a sound while operating. Thank lasts 24 hours for my needs anyway.

I bought this product on November 22, 2021. Not even one month today December 22, 2021 for about a week the humidifier has been either not working, but continues to run. We changed filter even though it wasn’t really bad.

It ran and worked properly for a few days. Now acting up again. Looked up troubleshooting in manual. Checked floater, filter turned back on. Worked today and then stopped again. Almost a thankful of water on our tile floor.

Checked float and filter again after cleaning up all the water. Reset filter button and now on again. If it doesn’t use any water by morning or stops again, it will be dried, placed back in box and taken back to Walmart, along with the extra filters we purchased.

We decided on this humidifier because a couple was buying filters for theirs. The exact same one. Oh the fan ran fine.
