20 Best Hp Laptops For Gaming (2023 Updated)

Hi, I bought my H. P. Pavilion Laptop about a year and a half ago. I needed a computer for school and my 5 year old Dell needed a new keyboard so I decided to invest in a new computer. I thought $650 a bit much for a laptop (my Dell was $300 five years ago and for the most part has been fine) but couldn’t find anything much cheaper online.

The H. P. had issues from the beginning. All my free windows office I would now have to download and pay for. Lots of preloaded advertising like for H. P. , McAfee etc. Keyboard letters light up at night which is helpful, but in regular light keys are almost unreadable since letters and touchpads their on are almost the same grey color.

It’s not an ideal word processor for this reason. About 14 months after purchasing it would no longer turn on, or stay on for long if it did. I brought it to two different shops and both told me they didn’t know what’s wrong with it, perhaps the motherboard.

Called H. P. and an automated response told me since it was off warranty h. p. could not help me but they would transfer me to someone who might be able to help ar $50 an hour. Since I already have $750 into this and two repair shops have told me there is nothing they can do to fix it, why would I continue to throw money at this thing?I paid $650 for what I thought would be a good computer and brand name and it lasted a little over a year.

Conversely my $300 Dell is still running and just needs a new keypad. I’m very disappointed with basically throwing $750 out the window with H. P and their total lack of support with their products. This is likely to be the one and only time I ever purchase their products.

There are so many better ways to go.

Laptop needed a few tweaks before you get it to work. I play COD warzone alot and you need quality graphics to be at its best. As soon as I adjusted it, the game was running real smooth. So you need to know what to optimize in order to get best results.

The laptop does not adjust it automatically for you. It depends on your use. Response time to everything is extremely fast. I think I got my money’s worth. This is a great buy!.

FOr the price, let’s call it mid-range its really capable! General limitations of a laptop applies, it’ll never rival a PC of the same spec but its definitely worth the investment if you can’t afford the best of the best you won’t be disappointed with this rig! I’ve tested the fans with high graphics settings & multitasking – much to my suprise the unit never went into what i would deem as dangerously hot.

even after the fans kicking into their maximum pelt there was no jittering neither did the noise get overwhelming. If you are in a toss up between 2 similar specced machines I’d highly recommend taking this as a safe bet.

A good entry level gaming laptop for two reasons. First, the RAM at only 8 gb. Games like Microsoft Flight Simulator (which I downloaded) recommend 16 gb of RAM. I upgraded my RAM to 16 gb (easy install with this laptop) to accommodate this recommendation.

Second, the hard drive at only 256 gb. If you are a gamer who intends to download multiple games, keep in mind that size of the current hard drive will more than likely require an upgrade. Overall, a smooth operating laptop for the flight simulator game.

As an entry level gaming laptop, a good choice with RAM and hard drive size limitations kept in mind.

Arrived very quick, easy to set up and get started , and compared to my old laptop this is lighting quick , wanted a mid range laptop for home but powerful enough to run multiple apps and photo editing software.

So far not disappointed. Doesn’t come come with loads of bloat ware either, Taking up loads of memory, the display is excellent deliveries fantastic performance. Sharp images and great colours and has ticked all the boxes for me.

good quality sound as some laptops lack but with bang and Olufsen software is actually very good. Especially like features with it links to my phone. Kids like it as run games. So overall a great family laptop.

Everething was nice in this laptop, but left speaker was rattling and was louder than right one(in settings they were same). Well, I came back to return it, but shop worker said that it works just fine, despite of few my friends said it is definetly defect.

After arguing some time he allowed to return it. And I could not change it to same model becase its price has raised. So I was given other model laptop with same hardware and price. But in this one again is problem with keybord – on left side of keyboard many buttons cling to the case.

I don’t want to go back to the shop to change it because it looks like I am some scam and I don’t have any mood to argue again with stubborn shopworker.

I use it mostly connected to an external monitor for gaming and work, but it gives me the ability to move or work anywhere else if needed. It handles AAA and the benchmarks quite well. It heats up a lot because of the cpu boost mode which is set to Aggressive by default.

If you disable this, the cpu handles Elden Ring in Ultra at 60 fps without going over 70C (connected to external monitor to bypass the optimise). go to the register and edit it: Computer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Power PowerSettings 54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00 be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7 (use / instead spaces to get into that option in your register) there change attributes to value 2 and then the option will appear in power options (Thanks to Uchiha Gaming YT for this solution).

Many complain about the typing and sharp edges, I do not find it that sharp and I like the feel of the keys, although I prefer my mechanical keyboard. The touchpad is sensitive but I do not like the feel of the clicks.

Feels a bit “chunky”. I use a usb hub as I need more usb than the ones available. It is a gaming laptop so expect loud fan when gaming and not so much battery life. The laptop needs to be connected to an external monitor y with the charger on to obtain maximum FPS.

If you want something to play at max fps without a monitor and without charger, maybe Legion 5 is a better option for you (although the battery and RAM are worse there as far as I know). All in all I am happy to retire my old computer and get this one at a reduced price considering the prices of GPUs these days.

This HP Omen is one of the first dual screen laptops specifically designed for gaming. As a financial trader as well as a gamer this is an innovation that I have been looking forward to and this high spec laptop does not disappoint.

It gives me the ability to keep an eye on the markets while playing games. As a purely gaming laptop its performance is awesome, every tripleA title I tried did really well, sharp FHD 144 hz display whether I had an app on the secondary screen or not.

I discovered early on that my gaming performance was affected if I used the secondary screen, I lost concentration if I looked at the 2nd screen, so I focus just on the main screen. Its sleek design just 22mm.

thick and weighing 2. 4 kg or 5. 2 lbs makes it easily portable, however although portability is one of its USP unfortunately the battery life is not as long as I expected. If I am playing any of the tripleA titles l get just 1 hour with the 2nd screen on and 1hr 50 min with it off.

However with lighter usage I get and 2 hours with it on and 2 hours with it off. This is mitigated at bit with the full charge taking just 2 hrs. The secondary standalone touch screen is relatively small, just 6, sitting above the keyboard its no larger than a phone, limiting its usefulness.

There is a large area going right across the laptop but only the small central area is used, perhaps there was a plan to make a larger screen. HP have an amazing feature allowing one to bring down a portion from the main screen and put it on the small screen.

So you can crop a part of the game on the main screen and bring it down to the small screen. I didnt find it helped my performance however I love this secondary screen and use it between games to catch up on the markets, social media, Spotify, emails, YouTube tutorials, iTunes, messaging apps, browser window, etc.

I also like the number pad that can be brought up onto this small screen. I particularly like using Discord on this screen, coordinating with my fellow team mates while playing the game on the main screen.

The secondary screen is above the keypad so the keys are now at the bottom of the laptop, In case you need some support a wrist rest is provided but I didnt feel I needed it. The touchpad is very responsive but I prefer to use a gaming mouse.

The sound quality despite being Bang amp Olufsen isnt outstanding when watching videos but as a gamer using my headset its fine. To achieve the amazing sleek 22mm thick laptop HP have used Thermal Grizzly liquid metal to cool the machine with intake vents, heat pipes and fans.

I found that playing my favourite tripleA games with the 2nd screen on still generated a lot of heat so I fished out my laptop cooling pad. That has made a big difference, minimising the chances of throttling.

This is a very versatile and powerful laptop. Im looking forward to using it for video editing, Photoshop, productivity work, windows office, web browsing, Netflix and YouTube. Every aspect of this laptop has been designed to give one a special experience, from unboxing it, the design of the carry out box, the inner superbly designed black computer box with its magnetised closing flap and with the red omen logo it just screams well thought out design and attention to detail.

I also like the backlit keys that depress completely so making them easy to clean. Ive reluctantly dropped a star because the grainy quality of the webcam, very disappointing for this high spec laptop.

The focus for HP has definitely been on giving one a great gaming experience and it does that superbly well.

This is certainly THE laptop for gaming as indicated. The power and performance is very apparent straight away with lightening quick speeds when browsing online and loading all manner of content. I tried out a number of games from the Microsoft Store and the gaming experience is just superb, no qualms there.

The laptop seems to cope with all manner of games and they run consistent and smoothly with little to no waiting around. I love the keyboard. It has a really pleasant feel to it when typing and just feels light and appealing underneath the fingertips.

I found the touchpad very simple to navigate. It is as simple as dragging a window into the touch screen and navigating that aspect through touch. So for example, I dragged iTunes into the touchscreen and was able to simultaneously play a game and select music via iTunes.

Really useful and cool feature to have, although bear in mind, it is quite a small screen, so depending what you drag in there it can be very small to read. There are definitely some issues with apps at the moment.

iTunes was crashing a lot but this is an app issue, not the laptop. Apps that have issues are quite clear in the download store as they tend to have very low ratings. Where I began to be let down was the webcam and battery life.

The battery life is not too good. Do bear in mind I was playing a game while unplugged but the battery lasted just over an hour. I was also surprised how hot the laptop gets. There are dual fans designed to keep it cool but it still gets very hot underneath.

I tested the webcam out in a variety of lighting and circumstances and it just seemed very grainy and poor quality photograph attached to review as an example. I have an imac that is over 10 years old and the webcam on the imac trumps the one on this laptop.

This troubled me slightly as youd think a state of the art laptop such as this would have the best of everything. As it goes I believe this laptop is very much for gaming needs and not the ideal solution if your needs will to extend to heavy video call use andor watching movies.

I was also not overtly impressed watching online video content. I do think services like youtube have a lot of catching up to do in terms of the qualityresolution of their videos but I felt watching content online just did not have the wow factor youd expect from a laptop with the specs this one has.

Netflix faired a little better, as did the 4k content available on Stationery Packs Prime, yet I felt Id still rather watch this on my smart TV. I did feel like the laptop was coming into its own when I tested some of the 4K content but until that is readily available I would want a machine that does a better job at upscaling existing content.

All in all it is a great laptop but I personally expected more for the price tag and felt let down by the quality of the webcam. I would carefully consider it against other options unless your primary use will be gaming.

I’ll be honest right from the beginning…I’ve never been a fan of HP laptops. While their desktops have (almost always) been extremely good, their laptops have been…uh…”problematic”. As such, this review, unfortunately, will be ‘incomplete’, as it would take several more months (time I do not have in regards to submitting this review) for me to do a complete, honest, and truly informative review.

As such, I will have to base my finding on the limited amount of time I have been given to submit this review. UNBOXING, SETUP, AND INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: HP, like most companies, has greatly improved on “environmentally-friendly” packaging.

They’ve eliminated the great majority of the (unneeded & unnecessary) plastic & styrofoam, and replaced it (for the greatest part), and replaced it with cardboard…so, at least on that front, I am happy.

As for ‘setup’, there’s really not much to say. When you purchase a new computer (desktop, or laptop), the first thing you want to do after completing the “initialization” process is run ‘Windows Update’…and, not once, but many times.

The best (ok, the ONLY) recommendation I can give is to run ‘Windows Update’, installing everything it finds, then reboot the computer, and repeat the process…and, keep repeating the process until ‘Windows Update’ indicates there are no further updates.

After going through all that, my next step is to go to the manufacturer’s website, to their “Downloads” section, and search-for/install all recently-released updates (ESPECIALLY any firmware & BIOS).

Only once you have completed ALL of the above-mentioned steps can you consider the computer to have been completely “set up”. Finally, as for “initial impressions”, for the screen size, I feel the physical size of the laptop, as well as the weight, are (essentially) what they should be.

This isn’t an ‘ultrabook’, so I didn’t expect it to be “lightweight”, nor is it a full-on ‘gaming laptop’, so I didn’t expect it to be “heavy as a rock”…I expected it to weight somewhere in-between, and that’s exactly where its weight is.

I was greatly appreciative of the relatively-slim bezel along the top, and sides, of the screen…but, at the same time, I felt the bottom bezel was a bit excessive. Comparing against my other laptop (an ultrabook), the bottom bezel is no different than the top bezel (approx 1/4”), which is only double the thickness of the side bezels.

On the “plus” side, I have to give HP huge props on the sound…while the Bang & Olufsen speakers aren’t as loud as I would have liked (or hoped), they do produce better-than-expected sound (for a laptop).

Another “high point” is the laptop’s cooling system. While not a “high-end” gaming laptop, HP did put in a “high-end” gaming laptop cooling system…when I say “it blows”, I mean that in the most positive of ways.

Moving over to the CPU, the AMD Ryzen 7 6800H is on-par with the Intel Core i7-12700H. While the Intel CPU does have (slightly) better specs, benchmarks have shown them to be, essentially, equal. Switching over to a GPU comparison, the AMD Radeon RX 6650M is, essentially, equal to the Nvidia RTX 3050Ti.

The Nvidia has more cores, but the AMD has a higher clock speed (glad this laptop has the cooling system it has). In overall performance, the AMD graphics are more than powerful enough for your best “mid-tier” games, and can even run AAA games (as long as you do NOT set everything to the highest setting…your best bet is to set everything at a nice ‘midpoint’, and then test).

THE LAPTOP IN-USE: I like the colored LED-backlit keyboard…but, I do NOT like that it can only be ‘on’, or ‘off’. The least HP could have done was to have two brightness levels (three would have been even better (for comparison, my Corsair keyboard has ‘off’, and five brightness levels).

While I greatly like the 144Hz refresh rate, the 7ms response time is a bit on the “slow” side. On top of that, they could have gone with a display providing slightly higher than just 1920×1080. I’m not saying they should have gone with a 4K display (that would have greatly increased the cost/selling-price)…but, they COULD have gone with 2560×1440.

Or, better yet, 1920×1200 (ie. WUXGA), which would have eliminated a good portion of that ridiculous bottom bezel. Other than that, the laptop works. As I said near the beginning ofd this review, I am not given enough time to TRULY evaluate the laptop, so I am unable to provide accurately-informative information.

If I could update my review after 6 months (or even 4 months), I would…but, I am unable to do such, thus my “review” will, forever, be ‘incomplete’. “PROBLEMS”: As of yet, I have not run into any ‘problems’…but, based on previous experience with HP laptops, such could, eventually, show.

This is NOT to say that ‘problems’ will, eventually, show themselves. Just as certain other brands have improved the quality of their products, it is equally possible that HP has made improvements in their laptops.

I do NOT want to dissuade anyone from purchasing this laptop based on my previous experience with HP laptops…so, for those reading this, please, take anything ‘negative’ I’ve said, above, with a grain of salt, and understand that, in regards to this laptop, I could be completely wrong.

FINAL VERDICT: This is a ‘delicate’ matter…and, in what I’m about to say (along with everything I’ve said above), understand that part of what I’m about to say is based on prior experience with HP laptops.

First, in regards to the “Would you recommend this” question, I REALLY wish Best Buy would add a ‘Maybe’ option…sometimes, having only ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ as the only options isn’t “realistic”. Given the choice, my answer would have been ‘Maybe’…but, since that’s not an option, I will semi-reluctantly say ‘Yes” again, I have not had any problems with this HP Omen Gaming Laptop…and, I am NOT saying I expect to have any…but, based on prior experience with HP laptops, it won’t surprise me if any (eventually) occur.

If I were to completely ignore my prior experience with HP laptops, and base my answer on only what I’ve actually experienced with this particular laptop (in the limited amount of time I’ve had to use it so far), then, my answer would be ‘Yes’.

This is a great gaming laptop. I upgraded from a 2017 Omen 17″ with a Core i7 7700HQ and RX580 8Gb graphics. So, I knew to expect a solid, slightly more affordable competitor to an Alienware product.

This machine absolutely blows my prior laptop out of the water. I’m a pretty serious gamer, and this laptop provides a roughly equivalent experience at 1080p (90-100+ fps in AAA games) to what my desktop does in wide 1440p with an RX6750XT, which is great for cloud syncing my steam games and taking them in the living room or on the go without sacrificing much in the experience.

It has a handy keyboard button to disable the trackpad which is nice for using a controller and being able to rest your hands on the laptop without errant mouse inputs. The RX6650M appears to perform almost as well as the RX6700M in many games.

Fans can get noisy, but most higher-performance laptops are in that boat. It’s not as noisy under load as my Omen 17 was, but since that was about as loud (and hot) as a first-gen Xbox 360, it’s a low bar to pass.

I’ll say that the “screen wobble” many reviewers point out in Omen 16 reviews online has either been addressed in this latest model, or simply isn’t nearly the big deal they’ve made it out to be because I’ve barely noticed it.

I also considered the Asus ROG Strix G15 AMD Advantage Edition laptop with the RX6800M, which can sometimes be had on sale for about ~$1200 also. While that laptop ostensibly offers more performance and better battery life, it also has a slightly smaller screen, no webcam, and reportedly serious reliability concerns.

To me, sticking with HP was a no-brainer. One negative of note is that while it’s pretty nifty that this laptop is equipped with the newer Ryzen CPUs with onboard RDNA2 graphics which it can switch to for non-gaming (or battery gaming) loads, it means that about 800Mb of your RAM is allocated to it for use as VRAM, so you actually only get 15.

2Gb usable RAM. Not a huge deal, perhaps, but worth being aware of. Battery life is better than older gaming laptops (my Omen 17 got about 2 hours) at around 5-ish hours, but nothing spectacular by today’s standards.

In short, if you can manage to get this on sale below $1200 like I did, it’s well worth the purchase.

The HP Omen 16. 1” laptop does not have a garish lid logo with Demon Horns or a mythical creature with pulsing neon lights announcing to everyone at you company meeting or class room that you might not really be paying attention to a boring class or business meeting.

The logo on the lid is subtle and the normally pulsating swirling rainbow of keyboard back-lighting can be turned to plain white if you want to be in a stealthy mode. None-the-less, it’s a well optioned gaming laptop at a good price point.

I loaded Destiny 2 onto the Omen. I play Destiny frequently on an Xbox Series X. The Omen is every bit as competent to play the game as the Series X console is. FEATURES: • Clean lines and sharp defined corners are attractive.

• Anti-glare display • Up to 9 hours of battery life when gaming, • Supports fast charge of approximately 50% in 30 minutes. • Ports include: 1 HDMI 2. 1, 1 RJ-45 Ethernet, 2 Super-speed USB Type-C, 1 Super-speed USB Type-A (sleep and charge), 2 Super-speed USB Type-A, 1 headphone/microphone combo, and SD card reader.

• FHD (1920 x 1080), 144 Hz, 7 ms response time, IPS, micro-edge, anti-glare, Low Blue Light • Weighs 5. 3 lbs. PROS: • Excellent display with a frame rate (144 Hz) fast enough for very smooth gaming • Surprisingly good sound with Bang & Olufsen speakers and HP Audio Boost • I installed Destiny 2 which I normally play on an Xbox Series X console.

The game played every bit as good on the Omen with smooth colorful graphics and excellent frame-rate of 90-120 fps. • More than adequate cooling no matter how intense the gaming movement. Not too loud under intense demand.

CONS: • The Omen’s power requires some heavy hardware. If you don’t need a gaming or high video processing and you need portability, this might not be a good choice for you. • Lacks a book-keeping style numeric keypad.

• The on-off button is not in a place you can feel for in a dim light. It is just one of many on the top rows of keys and I sometimes had to turn a light on to find it. • Because of the higher power internals, the body is thicker than the average less powerful laptop.

• At 300 nits it’s OK in dimmer evening lighting conditions when I usually game, but in daytime lighting I find the screen a little dim. CONCLUSION: A good choice for PC gamers.

So a quitck note: the GTX 1650 is below official minimum VR requirements. However, no one seems to have told it that. I’ve just got done testing Arizona Sunshine and Half Life Alyx and I was honeslty expecting a stuttery mess.

I had to turn Alyx up to high settings before I noticed any dropped frames in exploration, and it only had the odd stutter in combat in Medium. I played for about 1 hr, and forgot that I was testing it because i was having fun.

Arizona is a little worse optimised, but I didn’t turn any settings down and found it only a little janky, but then it’s a little janky on my 1080ti main rig too. Honestly I wouldn’t recommend buying this as a dedicated VR gaming rig, but I’d say it can handle most VR just fine.

Note that I don’t really experience motion sickness in VR, so if you know you do, it might be a problem but I’d say it’s fine. Other than that: + General performance is excellent. AMD are killing it at the moment, and the 4600H is nearly on par with the 3600 in my main rig.

+ Main HD is fast enough to feel smooth and responsive. + Looks decent. It’s not as pretty as Apple/Lenovo’s lineup but it doesn’t scream ‘gamer’. + Quiet most of the time. Even on full tilt the fan noise isn’t too bad at all.

Seems to keep pretty cool, though I haven’t been wathcing temps, I’ve never felt the need to. + UPGRADEABLE. This is massive. Non-soldered RAM, spare 2. 5 SSD slot. Gives longevity. – HD NEEDS upgrading.

256GB is tiny for a PC that has ‘gaming’ in its name. I’ve put an old 256GB 2. 5″ SSD in mine and with a few games I can still fill it up. I’d recommend adding either a 1TB 2. 5″ SSD, or a 2TB HDD, though make sure you get one that’s 7mm to fit in the drive bay.

If you’re not comfortable opening up computers, get someone else to do it, as the plastic shell feels pretty fragile and requires some prying to get it off once the screws are out. Be sure to only use plastic tools to pry it open.

– Battery is pretty ‘meh’. Watching netflix through HDMI on the TV it seems to get about 5-6 hours. Gaming at any intensity can be done, but not for very long. – RAM needs upgrading eventually. It’s fast tenough (DDR4 3200), runs in dual channel mode, but it’s only 8GB, and has bad CAS timings (22.

22. 22. 52). – Keyboard is OK, feels fine. Has numpad, but that means our hands and the trackpad are offset to the left, which feels pretty odd after a MacBook Air. – Trackpad is not as good at MBA, but it does the job.

– Speakers are OK. They work, they’re loud enough, clear. They’re not really for music though. – Fairly heavy, but nothign out of the ordinary. – The screen. This might be a deal-breaker for some. It’s not bad.

Viewing angles are good. Colours look fine, colour gamut scores are bad but that doesn’t really matter to most: using dead pixel test on this and on my iphone XS, the colours were not noticably different from each other (I am a digital painter so my colour perception is excellent).

However, brightness is low. It’s like my iphone on 60% brightness. It’s enough, but in a birght room it’d look dull. I might eventually swap out the panel on mine once the warranty’s expired, to a brighter one with full sRGB, higher refresh rate.

Summary: not perfect, but for the price, it’s really good value. You could spend this much on building a desktop and not gain much if any power, and it wouldn’t be portable.

Came with severe windows registry issues couldn’t even run a browser progressively got worse over 3 days was forced to go to store and get a USB drive to reinstall windows because the laptop was unable to reinstall itself it blue screened everytime.

Bloatware was absolutely ridiculous aswell. TLDR; Severe issues making system unusable out of box.

This laptop has exceeded my expectations. It has all the power and more for a casual gamer (at ultra or very high settings, of course) like myself, plus it makes everyday tasks and photo/video editing a breeze.

Multi-tasking is its forte and it will handle anything you throw at it, and more. Brilliant.

The secondary screen is above the keypad so the keys are now at the bottom of the laptop, In case you need some support a wrist rest is provided but I didnt feel I needed it. The touchpad is very responsive but I prefer to use a gaming mouse.

The sound quality despite being Bang amp Olufsen isnt outstanding when watching videos but as a gamer using my headset its fine. To achieve the amazing sleek 22mm thick laptop HP have used Thermal Grizzly liquid metal to cool the machine with intake vents, heat pipes and fans.

I found that playing my favourite tripleA games with the 2nd screen on still generated a lot of heat so I fished out my laptop cooling pad. That has made a big difference, minimising the chances of throttling.

This is a very versatile and powerful laptop. Im looking forward to using it for video editing, Photoshop, productivity work, windows office, web browsing, Netflix and YouTube. Every aspect of this laptop has been designed to give one a special experience, from unboxing it, the design of the carry out box, the inner superbly designed black computer box with its magnetised closing flap and with the red omen logo it just screams well thought out design and attention to detail.

I also like the backlit keys that depress completely so making them easy to clean. Ive reluctantly dropped a star because the grainy quality of the webcam, very disappointing for this high spec laptop.

The focus for HP has definitely been on giving one a great gaming experience and it does that superbly well.

This is certainly THE laptop for gaming as indicated. The power and performance is very apparent straight away with lightening quick speeds when browsing online and loading all manner of content. I tried out a number of games from the Microsoft Store and the gaming experience is just superb, no qualms there.

The laptop seems to cope with all manner of games and they run consistent and smoothly with little to no waiting around. I love the keyboard. It has a really pleasant feel to it when typing and just feels light and appealing underneath the fingertips.

I found the touchpad very simple to navigate. It is as simple as dragging a window into the touch screen and navigating that aspect through touch. So for example, I dragged iTunes into the touchscreen and was able to simultaneously play a game and select music via iTunes.

Really useful and cool feature to have, although bear in mind, it is quite a small screen, so depending what you drag in there it can be very small to read. There are definitely some issues with apps at the moment.

iTunes was crashing a lot but this is an app issue, not the laptop. Apps that have issues are quite clear in the download store as they tend to have very low ratings. Where I began to be let down was the webcam and battery life.

The battery life is not too good. Do bear in mind I was playing a game while unplugged but the battery lasted just over an hour. I was also surprised how hot the laptop gets. There are dual fans designed to keep it cool but it still gets very hot underneath.

I tested the webcam out in a variety of lighting and circumstances and it just seemed very grainy and poor quality photograph attached to review as an example. I have an imac that is over 10 years old and the webcam on the imac trumps the one on this laptop.

This troubled me slightly as youd think a state of the art laptop such as this would have the best of everything. As it goes I believe this laptop is very much for gaming needs and not the ideal solution if your needs will to extend to heavy video call use andor watching movies.

I was also not overtly impressed watching online video content. I do think services like youtube have a lot of catching up to do in terms of the qualityresolution of their videos but I felt watching content online just did not have the wow factor youd expect from a laptop with the specs this one has.

Netflix faired a little better, as did the 4k content available on Stationery Packs Prime, yet I felt Id still rather watch this on my smart TV. I did feel like the laptop was coming into its own when I tested some of the 4K content but until that is readily available I would want a machine that does a better job at upscaling existing content.

All in all it is a great laptop but I personally expected more for the price tag and felt let down by the quality of the webcam. I would carefully consider it against other options unless your primary use will be gaming.

I have bought this laptop and after 20ish days i realized that it has many factory flaws. Long story short, it has defects with keyboard (some of them) and defect with graphic card and touchpad, ALL OF THEM! I have tried to return this laptop and get a new one (in the same price range) but Mediamarkt declined my request because I went back there after 14 days (i went there in 25-30 days maybe).

This laptop has been my go to for gaming for a few weeks now, and I really do enjoy it. I am not a super hardcore gamer, but I do game more than your average person when I have time to do so. I would call this a mid-level gaming laptop, not at the tip top of the line, however there are worse options out there.

This laptop is actually lighter than some other gaming laptops I have come across, however don’t take that as a lack of quality. (I actually enjoy it. ) The lime green accents to the laptop add something extra to it, not bad, but it pops out.

The graphics quality is excellent, and colors are very vivid and allow you to submerse yourself in your game, which I love. I also use this laptop for some photo editing as well, and it has been made easier by being able to see stuff better as well.

I did test this laptop on multiple games, and got fantastic results with all of them. I had no framerate drops on any of my games that I could notice, so it definitely has some serious gaming power. It also actually did not run as hot as other gaming laptops that I have tried, which is nice because some casual gaming I like to have my laptop on my lap and not a desk.

Also, storage may be hit or miss if you like to keep a library of games installed on your computer as well. This laptop holds more than others I have seen, however, it really depends on the size of the game files you keep available to you.

It is possible to add an external hard drive as well, so that is an option. Battery life is okay, I have not had issues with it yet, but sometimes it’s hard to call until you have had a computer for a while.

I do think this is a great laptop, and I would definitely recommend this one to friends who need one.

I’ve been using the Pavilion 15 for a few months now, and I’m very satisfied with it. I knew I wanted a laptop that had the new AMD processor, a number pad, and the ability for future upgrades to ram and storage, as I needed something that I was gonna use as a portable workstation and gaming rig.

The Pavilion delivers, despite lower end specs. The pros: I was a little apprehensive about the supposed dimmer screen only only having a GTX 1650. Thankfully after using it for a while, I realized that the screen is plenty bright enough for my needs (even as a workstation), and the GPU is also more than adequate as well.

I’m used to a desktop GTX 960, so performance is very similar, if not a bit faster in most cases. At full load it does heat up and the fans kick in to high speed, but I find that compared to some of the other higher end Intel based laptops I’ve used, heat and noise is very well controlled, especially compared to how much more horsepower this thing has.

For older games, e-sports games, or lower detail settings, it’s just fine. I also appreciate how HP’s built in software will automatically update the laptop’s firmware and bios on a regular basis, very handy! Battery life is also very usable, lasting me 3-5 hours as a work station.

The ability to use either the integrated GPU or the discreet GPU on the fly is great for keeping power under control. It has a good amount of ports for external connectivity. There is space for an extra 2.

5″ drive, which I plan on adding later, and also upgrading to a full 32GB ram. There doesn’t seem to be a BIOS option to make use high speed low latency ram, but this is also a “budget” gaming laptop, so it’s not a big deal.

Some cons: One aspect of the laptop that I don’t like as much is the keyboard itself. While certainly very usable for gaming, I would much rather hook up and use an external keyboard for when I know I’ll be doing a lot of typing.

The keys are nice an quiet, but they’re flat and a little bit wobbly. it’s a bit awkward to type on. I also noticed that the internal 512GB NVMe SSD has some strange performance hiccups. I don’t have a secondary SATA drive in the laptop yet, so I can’t say if it’s the drive itself or the system.

As an example: in the past week I was recording some gameplay using FRAPS, amounting to around 60MB/s of video being written to the drive. For an NVMe this should be a drop in the bucket. But after 60 to 90 seconds, the drive’s “active time” (according to the task manager) started spiking from 5-10% to 70-80%, really slowing down the game and making the video framerate unstable.

I made sure to turn off any active virus scan programs that might have been interfering. Thankfully I was able to use an external USB 3 harddrive for my needs, but it’s strange that a high speed internal drive was less usable than a comparably slow external HDD.

Takeaway: It’s not a perfect laptop, but it’s light, portable, powerful, and a very good value for what it is. That alone makes it something I’d easily recommend.

My husband really wanted me to have a computer so last min. I agreed to this lab top. I was so mad that I wasn’t able to change lab top color key pad. I was so annoyed that my back ground pictures were so blurry and stretched out.

I did like how the computer ran, but I hate how I can’t control the fan and I went to the settings to mess around with my lab top and not a lot of cool fun settings or modes for this lab top and green isn’t my color at all.

Last thing I don’t want to say this is meant for a left handed user but the Headphone Jack is on the right of the lab top and same as the charger cord jack and that made me annoyed. I like to use my right hand so I bumping into the charger cord or the head phone jack, I hate it.

The Mouse Jack is placed on the left and I’m right handed so I hate having to move the mouse around from the left side of the lab top to the right side of the computer to use it so that makes my right hand bump into the charger and the headphones if I plug them in.

(I do plan on returning the lab top unless I go Wireless with everything).

I have had this laptop now since Christmas and am very happy with it. I have performed two upgrades since new. The Ram is now at 16 GB of 3200 and the Hard drive is a new samsung 860 Pro 1 TB. the downside of this laptop is it’s an entry level gaming laptop without Bells and whistles or major features, that many others carry.

It is easy on your wallet and performs well for what it is. It plays most games and I am happy with it as is my son who love gaming on it. I think I will buy another for his birthday.

So i ordered the laptop on Friday but it actually came on Tuesday which in my opinion is really fast. When i was not around to pick it up, a card was left in the mail telling me where and when I can pick it up and I had my brother get it for me.

The laptop was packaged properly and came with a manual along with the charger. I’d say they did a pretty good job soo umm yeah. The laptop seems fine and smooth; Do keep in mind I have not turned on the laptop yet but if any issue does persist i will be changing my review.

Good build quality, amazing fast NVMe installed, decent processor for gaming and video editing (with RTX its faster to export video when using video editing apps), FPS for AAA gaming vary depends on video setting, but on average can reach 86 FPS with hard CPU intensive games such AC Odyssey, GTA5.

Easy to upgrade RAM and HDD/SSD with each one empty slot inside (I just installed it with 8GB RAM and 2TB HDD, and I think its not on its optimal performance with HDD with its up to 50 MB/s on average disk performance, best with SSD that has beyond HDD performance).

Good air cooling system will guarantee playing for hours (playing for 6 hours or more its no problem, but it will give problem to Your health, vision, and fingers, get some rest), I suggest add some cooling pad under the laptop to give more cooler temperature for intensive gaming hunger.

Even with its Quad Core and Eight Thread, there no bottleneck with the RTX.

When I came across this, I was skeptical because of the lack of reviews but I’m so glad I bought this. Lucky for me, there was a July 4th sale happening around the time. Out the box was the laptop, weighing about 5 pounds and the charger which had a 150w power brick.

After setting up windows and reinstalling all my previous apps I was ecstatic. This model came with a GeForce GTX 1650 including 4 gigs of vRam which is good enough for light games like Fortnite and Valorant so don’t expect 144+ fps on high or ultra settings in AAA games.

The 12th Gen Intel core i5 processor is good for handling most tasks and multitasking. It comes with 8 gigs of ram and 512 GB of ssd storage. I’d recommend upgrading the ram to 16 gigs and storage up to 1 TB of storage if you plan of having a big game library.

The 144hz and 15. 6 inch screen provides a smooth and nice experience. I can’t say much on the battery life as I’ve had it plugged in the whole time although you can expect and 1-2 hours of gaming and 6 hours of mixed usage so having your charger near you is ideal.

I’ve seen the temperature reach up to 90 degrees Celsius or 190 degrees Fahrenheit so make sure to not block the airflow and perhaps consider buying a laptop cooler. The fan is noticeably loud (I could hear it across the room) but using headphones should block out most of it.

There is an option for quiet mode (inside the omen gaming hub that’s allows you to see system vitals and whatnot) that does help. The laptop comes with a 720p camera and a microphone built it that can be used for meetings and chats.

The model comes with a MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 mt7921 which is ok but doesn’t provide a faster speeds as described (in my experience). Note: I’ve seen others on the internet have problems with this Wi-Fi card.

The dual speakers give a loud and clear listening experience. The only changes I’d like to see is moving the power button to its on spot instead of near the backspace button and centering the mousepad as it’s a little closer to the left than I’d like.

Fantastic for gaming and developing software. I’m a software developer, and this machine has a great processor, and enough RAM for the majority of user needs. It is also upgradable, no soldered RAM, and can also add an M2 drive for additional storage.

When it comes to gaming, this will NEVER get hot; rare for a gaming laptop. They really got the thermals right with this design. For 1080p, a 1660TI and 144hz monitor are PERFECT. For those wanting a greater GPU, it doesn’t make sense if you’re sticking with 1080p resolution, and if you’re just planning on connecting to an external monitor why even get a laptop? Sound is great, brightness could be better for lighter environments but not by much.

All in all, a great looking, and great performing, machine.

Laptop came on time and came new as expected! Not the seller’s fault, but the laptop has a couple of keys that squeak at times and the fan will make a high pitched whine when on idle, however it is easy to control fan noise with this model, so that isn’t too big of a concern unless you get easily annoyed by sounds like that.

Those type of things are most likely bad quality control by HP. Overall, great purchase and would recommend this laptop!.

Upping the RAM to 16 gigs makes this future proof for the next 3-5 years. You can go up to 32 gigs, but lets be real here, it’s a budget gaming laptop. Being able to ADD a SATA harddrive (instead of replacing for larger) is amazing.

I just opened up the back cover, and the hardware to add a hard-drive is already there. No need to track down the bracket to mount the harddrive, and no need to try and find the impossible L56898-001 cable/adapter.

This means you can enjoy the laptop to your hearts content, and once the HD is full, you go out, buy a new 2. 5″ SATA drive, and swap it in there! (Removing the back cover is tricky, be patient it will come off little by little) This level of performance is easily a $600 laptop.

With more RAM and another HardDrive, this puts it on par with a lot of the $800 laptops. I bought this because I wanted the flexibility to be able to leave my at-home computer and still be able to enjoy my gaming library.

This does the job and more. Cons: I wish this used the USB-C for power. The touch pad is a little hard to use without the dedicated buttons for clicking. No CD/DVD drive. Screen is limited to 60hz. I’m not the biggest fan of the color “Green”.

I have used a lot of gaming laptops before and was excited to use this one too! I like the looks, keyboard layout, and the wide screen. However, I feel the trackpad is too small and on the first day of using this laptop, I noticed that the battery was draining insanely.
