20 Best Hot Weather Sleeping Bag (2023 Updated)

$50 from Scheel’s, the price is unmatched. I hiked 3 miles in and out, backpacking for 2 nights in 25 degree temps in northern Minnesota with this bag and stayed warm. Always check the “comfort limit” and “extreme limit” on sleeping bags before buying.

Safe to assume with this cheap bag that it will keep you alive at 0 degrees F, but the comfort limit is probably around 20 F. This bag is significantly warmer than my Marmot Trestles 15 degree bag with a 20 degree booster liner.

I keep mine in a cheap big mesh drawstring bag because the provided stuff sack is too small. Easy, $2 fix.

love the sleeping bag but the provided sack is waaaay too small to get it back in. when i first opened the sleeping bag, i felt like it was really tight in the sack and when i tried to put it away, i was proven right! it would take a factory amount of strength to compress it enough to fit into the small little bag provided.

had to purchase a different bag on amazon to try and get it to store properly. sleeping bag itself is nice and cozy.

haven’t used it yet. However, I have the 20 degree sister to this bag and it kept me plenty warm down in to the teens. Stuff sack was fine, unlike the others who have complained about it. Just use elbow grease.

It’s a stuff sack, not a friendly sack. Don’t be a wimp.

This was the 2nd bag we purchased to zip together in our camper to replace bags purchased over 25 years ago. The bags zip together well. The flannel was slightly softer on this bag than the previous bag but not like the old bags.

I had to sew a 2 inch edge together at the top that was open. We tried another bag with the same dimensions since this has been out of stock frequently. We were not able to zip it to the 1st Heritage Big and Tall bag and it was very costly to return.

I bought my Heritage Big and Tall sleeping bag 20 years ago this November, to be used on a four day deer hunt. Since then, this bag has served me well on a nine day New Mexico elk hunt with temperatures as low as -5°, camping in Oklahoma and Texas, used it for a sixteen day lock-in during a plant strike, and on numerous other week end or overnight trips.

This bag has kept me warm, held its loft well, and continues to look almost brand new. I hope it lasts another 20 years!.

I had a couple of these a LONG time ago, but last year I lost all my gear in a fire that destroyed a couple towns. I bought these because I remember how much I loved them (Big and tall since I toss n turn) they are spacious, thick and very soft.

Still a great product!.

Great for children! I picked up the Teton Sports Celsius Junior Sleeping Bag for my daughters for camping trips. They are nowhere near the height of the bag, so there’s plenty of room for growth. This bag is well-designed for children of all temperature ratings too – thanks to the full-length zipper.

I found that to better ventilate my child’s sleep temperature, I can zip open the foot-end of the bag without undoing the entire bag, leaving their torsos better insulated, while offering the body some needed leg-room and temperature control.

A Pro: Zipper has a draft collar, to protect the warm air from escaping through the zipper. Also, the zipper can be tucked and batted down with the velcro embroidered flap reading the temperature rating of the bag, to help reduce noise.

Pro: The head portion of the bag has a “collar” to help block wind onto the back of the head, and offers to detain the pillow from falling out of the bag. A Con: The zipper stops at the “floor” of the bag.

If this zipper were to continue along the bottom of the bag across from “right hand side” to the “left hand side”, and offer the transformation from sleeping bag to quilt – it would make this bag a game-changer for hammock camping.

Con: That pillow-collar can add unecessary “bulge” to the pillow chosen – increasing the angle of the pillow on the back of the head – ultimately, if the pillow is shaped different to the shape of the Celsius Jr.

bag, your neck will be at an increased angle, you’ll rest the pillow outside of the bag too, potentially adding to discomfort. But it’s not terribly overstuffed, so, you lay on it?, you lay on it. I’m happy enough with it.

I’d recommend this to other parents, starting out on camping with <10 year olds. It does make me curious what else Teton Sports has to offer for hammock camping and insulation.

My wife and I purchased this sleeping bag about 3 weeks ago for our trip to Big Bend National Park, and we couldn’t be happier with its performance! This bag has plenty of room for two people and the height of the bag was perfect.

I’m 6’1” and my wife is 5’5”. The bag didn’t swallow her up and I also didn’t feel even the slightest bit claustrophobic. They really nailed both the length and width on this bag. The temperatures were uncharacteristically cold during our visit to Big Bend, with temperatures dropping into the mid to lower 30s (Fahrenheit) each night.

We stayed plenty cozy with this bag. My wife is cold-blooded. She literally is just physically cold all of the time, and this bag kept her nice and toasty. I, however, did have to strip down to just my underwear in order to keep from getting too hot, but that really boils down to each individual.

Also, keep in mind that we were using our Exped duo sleeping mat underneath this bag, and it has a pretty high R-value. I’m certain that it contributed to our comfort level as far as temperature is concerned as well.

The overall quality of this bag is also excellent. The zippers on both sides function just as they should from both inside and outside of the bag. The material on the inside is soft and warms up quickly once you’re tucked inside.

Overall, we are extremely pleased with this Teton sleeping bag, and we look to enjoy tent-camping with it for many years to come. One additional note: I saw a couple of slightly negative reviews about getting this sleeping bag to fit back into its storage bag.

We had no such issue. I’m assuming those folks might have been attempting to roll it up and trying to stuff it into the sack. This won’t work, but if you simply start from the bottom and keep stuffing it down with the compression straps loosened, you’ll be just fine.

First off, I’ve owned and used countless sleeping bags over the years since I was a kid. Getting them out of the sleeve, unrolling and rolling them back up and putting them back. Not always easy, but this bag?’!?!? Takes it to another level! I knew this bag was trouble the moment I was getting it out of the sleeve it was rolled in.

Super tight. And when I finally got it out, it immediately puffed up. Secondly, the product description said “polyester/cotton, but the tag says all polyester from the the outside in. I did a protect check to make sure everything was working bc we’re going camping this weekend.

I checked the zippers, all worked well. Not a bad bag if you don’t mind sleeping on a plastic (polyester) bag. When I attempted rolling it back up and stuffing it back in the bag, was impossible to do it myself.

Bag is too slippery, too puffy, and too difficult to do it by myself. Had to get wifey and even then it was a struggle. I mean it’s almost comical! No way I want to go through Thais every time we use it.

I will be returning the bag!.

I absolutely LOVE this design! Great synthetic sleeping bag with an extra tuft at the top for extra softness around your neck/head area. Big, red, easy pull zipper doesn’t get material stuck in it and it has another zipper at the very end of the zipper line so you are given two ways to zip.

The other sipper isn’t the same type though, meant for a backup zipper option? The green one is a bright chartreuse lime shade with grey at the bottom where the Coleman logo goes. Can fully unzip, has pulla and anchors to hold a sleeping pad on the bottom of the sleeping bag too! Great stuff sack with added straps that connect to a top and bottom cover for the stuff sack and make it easier to further compress the bag.

It arrives nearly folded inside stuff sack, but for synthetic bags, I much prefer stuffing bag inside as it reduces any creases and allows for a longer life in my opinion. This is a heavier bag, wouldn’t take with me on a long trek but for car camping, it’s a no brainer of a choice to go with this Coleman Kompact 30° sleeping bag!.

I’m a curvy girl so sleeping bags have always made me a little nervous that is until I came across this Kompact Big and Tall sleeping bag. It’s easy to unfold and I’m able to lay in it with no problem, plus I have some extra room for my toddler whenever she likes to come and cuddle up with me.

It’s lines with almost like a fleece fabric which is perfect for keeping you nice and warm without being uncomfortable. I move around alot while I sleep so sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night like a burrito but overall it’s fantastic! I usually have a hard time trying to fold sleeping bags up to the size to fit back in the bag it comes with but this is an ease to put away and folds up quick and easy for compact storage.

Overall a fantastic sleeping bag to have for anyone whether camping outside, in your living room, one adult or even 2 toddlers. The possibilities are endless and give you peace of mind!.

Great sleeping bag, Roomy and will keep you toasty during those really cold nights in the mountains or desert. My only beef is why do the storage bags have to be so small. Trying to roll up the sleeping and get it back in the storage bag is virtually impossible using reasonable methods.

The tie strings are under such great tension that I don’t believe they will last very long. Hope I am wrong. How about a video on how to roll up the sleeping bag to a size that fits in the storage bag?.

Congratulations! You have made it to the comment section, and you are debating if you should really buy the Women’s Cosmic Down 20 sleeping bag. My quick review is that it is a great bag that is incredibly fluffy, it is warm and soft and something that you would love to crawl into after a full day of hiking.

My long review… I did a gear test with my little brother, both with Kelty sleeping bags. I was with the Women’s Cosmic Down and he with the Kelty kids Synthetic down. We tested on two different nights, the lows on the first night was mid-forties, the second was in the thirties.

We were in a two-person tent and we both had mats and pillows in our front yard, so sod and damp dewy conditions. Learned instructions for use: wear appropriate clothing, you will not regret wearing long fleece leggings, even if it is mid-forties (say no to short cotton ones; learn from my mistake).

Also, do not get the bag wet, you will definitely regret it. I was cold on the warmer night because I slept with my body touching the side of the tent allowing the dew from the tent walls to rest on the bag.

While the bag is water resistant, in that I did not feel wet at all, it will decrease the warmth of the bag considerably. The second night I learned from my error and slept the best that I have ever slept in a sleeping bag and tent since before I realized the importance of sleep.

The bag was incredibly fluffy. I love the loft of this bag, it is kind of limp straight from the sack, but it gets really voluptuous as it airs up. It was super soft and the lining was silky. There was plenty of room for me to curl up and be comfortable and not too lengthy which is wonderful.

I am 5’4” for reference. I loved that it is a woman’s sleeping bag, so created for a lady’s shape and comfort (Praise the Lord!). It is marginally lighter than synthetic bags and about the same compacted size as a kids synthetic sleeping bag, almost smaller.

While not incredibly different in size and weight from a normal cheap bag, I feel like I will be grateful for the minimal difference while backpacking. While you will not be sleeping like you sleep in a warm bed at home, it was so much better than my $30 bag… (Can that even be a comparison?) I love my new sleeping bag and hope that it will last me many years.

This is my first backpacking size/mummy sleeping bag and I couldn’t be happier. I was a little nervous going from a full size all season type sleeping bag to a light weight mummy style. I thought I would feel crammed in with no room but I didn’t feel that way.

When I first pulled it out of the stuff sack it was real flat and did not look like it had any down fill in it, but it just got fluffier the longer I left it out. I just used this for a fall elk hunt in Montana and stayed plenty warm.

It is definitely not a sleeping bag you would use in the dead of winter but it will work great any other time. I highly recommend this sleeping bag to anyone that is looking for one in this price point and temperature rating.

I used this bag got 7 days on a trip to the appalachian trail 100 miles wilderness. I used it in a hammock and in AT shelters. It worked great as a blanket (on hot nights). On cold nights, the bag withstood condensation without getting wet.

Also, on a hammock, there is no group insulation below the sleeping pad. so I was concerned about the warmth once my body compressed the fill. No problems there. Also, this bag doesn’t seem to lose fill (happens in other bags) even when washing it.

I’ve used sleeping bags from a number of brands and I can tell you that Marmot makes the best sleeping bags. I sleep cold and they are always significantly warmer than other bags of the same temperature rating from other brands.

The same it true of this bag. It packs down so small and is warmer that a 15 degree bag I have from another brand. I didn’t think I would need the added 1/4 zipper on the other side, but really enjoyed the feature on warm summer nights where I needed extra ventilation.

Hey I’m male, 6′ tall, 175lbs, side sleeper. Looked around at bags for a while across different brands and kept coming back to this one as a great value for weight and warmth and picked up the normal size (not large).

First it really does pack down small to fit in the included stuff sack, and I like the included larger “unstuffed” mesh bag to keep it in when not traveling. As far as use I’ve slept in it maybe 15 nights so far in a tent, hammock and the couch, across a variety of conditions.

The hottest I’ve had it was about 75F, which worked okay with the top portion unzipped to allow some venting. The coldest was about 30 degrees in a tent on an air mattress with a foam pad on top. I was definitely cold without extra layers on, but once I put on some wool socks and pajamas it was ok.

I had one night with a lot of rain where I realized my old tent was no longer waterproof and it was practically raining inside the tent. The bag did not repel the water, but it seemed to stay on the outer layer of the shell and I managed to feel dry inside the bag even though the top was wet.

It did dry out pretty quick the next day fortunately. As far as feel goes I love the material of the bag both inside and out, it feels super cozy when you snuggle up to it. The Zipper has worked well, though it can go past the end of the zip and you have to realign it which can be a bit of a hassle in a hammock.

The hood is a good size, and I put one of the marmot inflatable pillows inside when hammocking and it keeps it in the perfect spot. Overall I really like this bag and actively try to make excuses to use it.

I’ve had sleeping bags before. The extreme cold weather sleeping bag I’d been assigned in the military was never a comfortable fit in non-extreme weather. So when it was time to purchase a new bag, I approached my selection with a bit of old man’s wisdom.

This Zero degree Fahrenheit rated sleeping bag was most comfortable. Even during that “oh no” stage where I accidentally disengaged the zipper, it was only a matter of a minute or two to re-attach the zipper.

Really, really pleased with simplicity. With my campsite weather dipping below 31 degrees Farenheit, I was comfortable. I had that toasty feeling. I never felt overheated. During the night (or rather early morning) I did feel a little cold, but only for a minute or few.

Simple solution was to sleep on my other arm, and use the bag, as designed, covering my head with the mummy head-part. The bag never got moist, and was dry and light throughout the night and into the morning.

Now I must confess I forgot to bring a pad, to put under my sleeping bag. Unfortunately, when I purchased my one man tent and bag, the offer for a pad in my checkout proved to not be in inventory. I did have a couple of polyurethane pads set aside, but forgot to pack it in the car.

Sigh. Too bad for me. I dummy tested putting my cold weather coat, under the top portion of the bag. I also put my cold weather overalls under the leg portion of the bag. For most of the night I was insulated from the floor.

There must have been a least an hour, or so, throughout the night, where my bag was in direct contact with the tent floor. That accounts for when I felt a little cold. Only for a spot area near my legs.

I purposefully kept from sleeping on my back, as I didn’t want to risk injury. My concerns never materialized. I was warm and comfy 98 percent of the time. At times, despite the slow loss of body heat from the bag, directly into the floor, this mummy bag performed excellently.

It kept me warm despite NOT having a pad under the bag.

I’ve owned the bag for about a year and have become disappointed with the bag. The design is fantastic – nice insulation around the head, full foot box, insulation at the zipper. But I get cold at night.

The insulation around the upper body/torso area just doesn’t work. First, it clumps. Then it moves to the seams. The result is that around my hips and shoulders the only insulation is the 2 layers of shell fabric, often with no insulation between.

And this is still after massaging the fill back into place when we set camp. I purchased a light down sweater which I now wear when using the sleeping bag. Thus the bag is no longer an inexpensive option if I want to stay warm, and I have extra packed weight.

32*? Unlikely. With my modified use, I’d put it at mid-40s. I camp in a solo tent, with a high R sleeping pad, and the jacket. So my first impressions on the product were great, but now I feel it important that other buyers know about the potential shortcomings of the bag.

My son Joshua, is a boyscout in troop 45 out of lakeside California. This particulars troop does 8-10 camp outs a year, with a few of them being high adventure. He went on a backpacking trip a few months ago, and the sleeping bag he had, not good he was cold cold all night.

We all know how terrible that can be. After sharing that at our troop meeting , one of the dads referred us to Hike and Bike. We ended up getting getting the perfect bag, at a lower price than any other places we looked.

After getting the bag he was on another 4 day trip and when returning he shared that his new bag, kept him nice and toasty. We are really glad we are now part of the hike and bike family. Thanks for making my sons high adventure more safe, enjoyable and yes toasty on cold nights.

I work as a firefighter and during these late September fires at higher elevations, it can get pretty wicked cold. Last week I had my wife drive me up my Kelly dri-down cosmic 20 because the Klymit 20 degree bag wasn’t cutting it.

That night my tent grew wings and flew away before I got back to camp (later found in a creek) so I resorted to sleeping on the ground with a tarp, sleeping pad, and Kelty cosmic 20. Within 30 minutes there was ice forming on the outside of my sleeping bag and I knew I was in for a long night.

However, this awesome little bag kept me warm and content till about 4 in the morning when I had to go ***. I did the deed and returned to the bag where it kept me comfortable, not toasty, but not shivering to bad until 6am when I had to wake up.

It had to be in the low 20’s to high teens without a tent and this thing did it’s job great. So over other companies I would say these ratings are more accurate and robust. Very worth the money. Wish I had there 0 degree bag now!.

Great bag! The space-to-warmth ratio is great. While I haven’t been out for a full night as of this time, I did take this for a “test nap” at about 33 degrees and I was quite comfortable. The fit is great! I’m 5’11 and I had plenty of room at my feet, and enough room up top to maneuver my arms.

That said it’s a fairly tight sleeper so bear that in mind. One thing I will say (and this is not really a complaint) is that this comes with a stuff sack and not a compression bag. While I understand long-term compression is not ideal for a down bag, cinching it down for a day or two is pretty crucial if I want to fit this bag in my backpacking rig.

It fits great in the compression bag from my Kelty Rambler, bring it down to about 2/3rds its stuffed size. In all an awesome bag, especially for a Black Friday doorbuster. Can’t beat that!.

We bought these bags on a whim for a Boy Scout Family Camping Weekend here in Georgia where the overnight lows were going to be in the mid-30’s – and the bags we already owned were only rated for the 50’s.

No complaints on the warmth. I will admit that I was wearing a couple layers of thin base layer clothing, but once I jumped in that bag I was nice and cozy all night long! I’m about 5’10” tall, and I think if our store would have had the long bag in stock I would have bought it for the extra 6″ of length.

6 foot was long enough though for me to get the hoodie on and not feel cramped. I need to look again, but I still haven’t found the “device pouch” mentioned in the features. Buy this bag – you won’t be disappointed for the price – and Kelty is a great name! We have their tents, and always a great value for what you receive.

I review this bag fresh out of the box, I haven’t tested in camping yet, but I will go for a 3 nights next week in under 0C conditions, but still there are some things I can say about it. The colors look great, and I don’t mind the white inside since I always use a liner, but that’s to be kept in mind.

The value is impressive and the down feels nice, but I think a couple of things could have been added that wouldn’t have been so expensive for TNF : First, The bag comes in a compression sack that has no straps and no storage bag, appropriate for a down sleeping bag which needs to be stored at maximum volume, so you’ll have to find a big breedable bag to store it when not in use (or keep it under your bed, or hang it).

Since there is no compression sack included, you’ll need that to properly benefit from the main advantage of down : its compressibility. Also, the absence of a collar in the sleeping bag for a -18c bag is weird and I don’t think it would have added too much price, but the increase in value would have been noticeable.

Oh well, I’ll wear my buff. There are good things though! the zipper that opens all the way just before the footbox is really nice to get in or out of it. There are also little hoops around the under side of the bag to strap it to your mattress and some more at the end for hanging (since it has no storage bag).

Its shape is quite anatomical, not too mush free air inside, but the footbox is still confortable. The protection for the zipper is well made and finally, the inside fabric seems to have some water-repelling ability, which could prevent water vapor for your body to go in the down, a usefull feature on longer trips.

I don’t know how much the inside would repel small water droplets though.

I bought this bag in the fall of this year(2021), and after long research of which bag would be best for winter camping this was the choice I went with. I used the bag on camping trip this winter where the temperatures dropped to -10°C/14°F at night.

I slept in just base layers and this bag was very warm. I would definitely recommend this bag for anyone who is looking to have a winter car camping experience or just cold weather. Now the pros of this bag: very warm, but there is a few cons: it’s very bulky, no pocket/s for phone or key or flashlight storage, the sizing is off.

This sleeping bag in its size(regular) is meant for someone who is slim and max 5’11” in height. I’m 5’11” with a muscular build and this bag was too narrow in the shoulders, making it very difficult to zip.

If this sleeping bag is on your radar and you are not a slim individual, get the long size, not the regular size as per the North face website. Also this sleeping bag was not offered in a size long on the cabelas website.

I purchased this sleeping bad for 3 season camping – something to get me through the shoulder camping season and the cooler nights at higher altitudes. I am very pleased with my purchase as I was very toasty on my camping trip this past weekend.

I would like to point out the sleeping bag is not super light weight, but it is not heavy either. I think it is a great balance of weight vs. features vs. price. I was able to fit this inside a waterproof small sea-to-summit compression sack (10L) but the top of the compression sack was not properly rolled.

I would recommend a compression sack a little bit larger (12-15L). Speaking of features, I do find the bag minimal compared to some other comparisons I researched. There are no pockets or sleeping pad tie ins (or I havn’t figured that part out yet).

I think this is reflected in the price. The sleeping bag is SUPER warm. Temperatures reached 5*C at night, and I slept in my undergarments because I was incredibly warm. I would say I am a “normal” temperature person but if you are someone who runs hot, then this could be too much.

This bag does run small – I am 4″11 and I find the size of this bag ideal. A little bit of length but not as much “dead space” as I’ve experienced in other bags (i. e. , Thermarest Questar). I would recommend this to other petite ladies.

Purchased this rather than a cheaper model and have ended up disappointed. I bought the Big & Tall version thinking there would be more space, but though it seems longer, there is no additional/noticeable width gain.

I thought the zipper arrangements would be very useful, but the way that they cross over the sleeping bag make them difficult to operate if you’re not lying down and lying down makes it difficult to see what you’re doing.

Plus, the zippers get caught up on the bag, stopping the zipper and causing you to have to unzip and try again. Out of the bag, the sewing for the ‘quilted’ pattern was already coming unraveled, so quality seems poor.

My wife said she can re-stitch the quilting, but I’m not sure it’s worth it. Also, how the heck are you supposed to get it back in the bag that it comes with? My wife and I, working together to roll up as small as possible, still could not get the bag small enough to fit back in the bag and fasten up the bag zipper.

Overall, I am not impressed with this sleeping bag. I’ll be returning it!.

The unusual design makes for flexibility of using it on both warm and cool nights. This is one of the main attractions for this product, as evidenced by the many positive reviews; however, there are tradeoffs to this design.

I bought the larger one; it was so long that it hangs over my cot unless I fold the pillow section over. My wife has the regular. The regular will roll into a size that is about average or slightly smaller than average for a sleeping bag; definitely not a backpacking sleeping bag.

The larger one comes out a little larger when rolled up. Speaking of rolling up: the material is so slippery that it wants to unroll, so Coleman added a couple of loops and buttons to keep it together better when it is rolled.

If you don’t use them, the tying strings may not keep it from unrolling. I don’t really like the tying strings. One is a straight shoestring with a plastic hook and the other is more of a loop. The idea is to pull them in opposite directions around the bag and hook the straight string on the loop string.

I don’t consider it to be secure until I put it inside a stuff sack. Neither the small or the large one came in a stuff sack. I had to buy the sacks separately. There is a nice zipper pocket on top for keys, a small light, etc.

The biggest negative I see about this product is that it is not very easy to roll over in this sleeping bag. If you do a lot of turning over, you might not be happy. Another thing that takes some getting used to is the fact that the top half of it goes to the right when you unzip it and the bottom half goes to the left.

It is not designed for zipping 2 of them together. I haven’t tried it, but I don’t see how it would work out well.

Even if I sleep in underwear, and a warm sweater, I usually get uncomfortably warm in my lower half. This sleeping bag was perfect for this as it allowed me to uncover my legs and use the bedsheet liner only, while using the upper flap to cover my upper body when temps were warmer.

And if even warmer than that, it was nice to use just the integrated bedsheet part. The zipper snag guard seems to work much better than without. The temperature range described is pretty accurate. I’d use this down to about freezing temperatures, but any colder than freezing, and this may not cut it for some.

Still quite new, so my durability rating is based on a perception of the quality of the zipper, and the materials. I have concerns about the bag that the sleeping bag goes into when rolled up. It is the lowest quality part of this purchase.

Really love this bag! Packs up small and is decently light, definitely not ultralight but I still used it for some summer backpacking. I like that it comes with its own compression sack too. Nice colors and solid zippers, although I will say that it fit slightly on the snug side, even for a mummy-like bag.

I’m 180 pounds so guessing it would be better for those less than that.

I love the weight of this bag and the semi-quilt like design with the baffles underneath you being less full of down. At 6′ tall I feel like the length is about perfect. There is plenty of room for my shoulders, hips, and even just enough room to bend my knees to my chest with a slight bit of effort.

The added draft baffles around the neck and zipper are amazingly full and I’ve had no issues with them whatsoever. When sleeping on my back this bag is toasty warm down to single digits, and I’m a cold sleeper.

My issue with the bag is when I am sleeping on my side, which I do about half the time. The issue so far as I can tell stems from the less filled baffles on the underside, which normally I would consider a good thing.

When I roll over to my side the bag will roll ever so slightly with me (the pad straps help with this but don’t solve it completely) and the furthest baffle on the underside ends up just slightly exposed to air.

This creates a very cold area on my backside in cold temps. I feel like one more baffle filled on the non-zipper side would have been good for side sleepers. The upside is that there is plenty of room in this bag, so stuffing my down jacket along that back side of the bag works solves this issue.

Another minor issue I have is the wide hood shape, and again is only an issue when I’m sleeping on my side. Pulling the hood tight around my face works fine when I’m sleeping with my face towards the zipper, not so much when my face is towards the backside of the bag.

The cord for tightening the hood routes around the back side of the bag so when you pull the hood taught it is difficult to keep your mouth/nose outside of the bag on the non-zippered side. I’ve woken up numerous times with the inside of my bag wet on that side because my mouth slipped inside the bag while I was asleep.

Overall I very much like the bag, but I will be switching back to a quilt so that I can tuck the sides of the quilt tight against me in cold weather when I am on my side.

COMFORT: First off let me state that this bag is not made of some super thin sticky nylon like some ultralight bags are. This very soft to the touch and extremely comfortable. I actually prefer the way it feels to my actual bed at home that we have spent thousands on.

The bag lofts up nice and thick and looks very inviting and actually makes you excited to snuggle down in it for sleep. In addition, the bag is very roomy. It doesn’t feel constricting like typical mummy bags.

If you are a side sleeper or toss and turn I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU GET THE LONG VERSION of this bag even if you don’t need it for height. The main reason is that the long version of this bag is also wider in the foot box than the regular length.

This provides quite a bit more comfort for those of us who move around a lot at night. Even though the long bag says it’s for 6’6” people I’m 5’ 10” and this allows me to snuggle down into the bag and pull it over my head for warmth as well as leaving me the option to store gear in the bottom to prevent it from freezing.

Had I got the regular length it would have forced me to sleep with my head outside exposed and left no room in the foot box. TEMPERATURE RATING TEST: It’s October now and we recently had some cooler weather move in for a couple of days so I used it as an opportunity to test the bag and my new sleep pad.

According to accuweather temps dipped down to 40*. I slept outside on our deck to test this bag. First I laid down a thin blanket to prevent any damage to my thermarest from splinters or such. Next was my thermarest neo-air xlite.

Finally, this bag which is comfort rated to 32* when you wear appropriate base layers. As stated above, the temps supposedly dipped down to 40* and I chose to wear nothing but my boxer briefs as I figured if I stayed warm then I should have no problem staying warm to 32* with wool base layers as the rating suggest.

I can confirm that the bag worked great. No issues whatsoever. I slept all night in the bag and never got cold. Starting off the night when it was around 48* I was actually too hot and had to unzip the bag.

At about 7am when temps were at their low I stayed zipped inside but stayed comfortable. The biggest surprise to me was that I didn’t get cold feet. I don’t think I have ever slept outside and not got cold feet.

And this is while wearing thick wool socks. Often 2 pair of them! In this sleeping bag I wore no socks at all and my feet stayed warm. This was a pleasant surprise. I now have no worries as winter progresses that this bag will do just fine in lower temps so long as I wear appropriate clothing as suggested.

CONCLUSION: In conclusion, if you like to move around at night and don’t like a typical mummy bag this is the one you should get. It’s very roomy and never once did I feel confined. I rolled and tossed all over the place and stayed warm and cozy.

I spent hours searching for something lighter and while you may find something a few ounces lighter than this bag it will cost twice as much and will be about a foot narrower in the foot box. I hope thermarest never stops making these bags.

I want to save up for the 0* version now for those really cold nights. I now have a thermarest xlite pad, this thermarest sleeping bag, and a thermarest pillow and none of them have disappointed me. At this point I don’t think I would hesitate to buy anything thermarest offers if I needed it because it’s clear their gear is well thought out and quality made.

I had used this bag for an overnight in the Pinchot State Forest in PA. The lowest temperature was 20F with some wind chill that brought it near the bags labeled comfort rating of 15F. I used a MSR Access 1 tent (winter rated).

My sleep pad system was the NeoAir XTherm Sleeping Pad (R 6. 9) combined with a Z Lite SOL Sleeping Pad (R 2. 0), which provided a robust R 8. 9. This sleeping pad system coupled with a 0F extreme rating should have proved sufficient.

However, in spite of the aforementioned system and wearing merino wool base layer (socks, pants, shirt, and face covering), I woke up at 2am shivering. Good thing I brought with me a winter sleeping bag insert.

Once deployed, I never slept better. While it advertises the ability “roll around” for those restless sleepers, which it did, it did have some consequences – the snap and zipper would always come undone and cinch hole would cover mouth.

These issues were enhanced by the sleeping pad straps, which ironically allowed for the movement. Overall, if used wisely with appropriate gear, this bag is sufficient and comfortable. Do I regret this purchase – NO! I happy to have this in my backpacking arsenal.

Very thin , found for half the price. When I called I was told I would be refunded. Not true only gave me 6. 95 for two. Ended up losing 20. 00. I only have 690. 00 a month. I thought I would try qvc because they offered to give 40.

00. to put on my acct. Not true you have to buy something else. I’m disappointed because I was told one thing & they didn’t keep to their word.

This bag was a lot smaller then I thought it would be. But I really didn’t pay that much attention to the sizing. But it was really inexpensive. So worth it. It would be a great youth overnight bag. Probably not good for winter outside.

Excellent value. Great for sleepovers, indoors or out, in mild weather.

I bought this bag for a few reasons: 1) I was looking to upgrade from my current sleeping bag as it had lived out its life (15 years), 2) I wanted to switch from synthetic to down, 3) I wanted a bag that wouldn’t break the bank but was still of good quality, and 4) I was looking for a bag that could be used for backpacking and backcountry trips, but would also be functional for car camping as well.

This bag fits that bill well! Though I have not had a chance to take it backpacking, I recently went on a weekend trial run (April in Minnesota), and the bag checks off all of the initial boxes–it was quite cozy in temperatures that dipped into the low 30’s; the bag was easy to use (the zipper has a nice touch of material surrounding it that help prevent it from getting caught in the sleeping bag material, the zipper pouch on the outside of the bag is an excellent place to store easily losable or misplaced things, and the mummy elastic closure works well), and it was also comfortable and a relatively quiet material.

Other things of note: The bag does not come with a compression sack, which is a bummer, though the stuff sack it comes with is on the order of 8-10 liters already so it does pack down quite small. Overall, initial quality seems great for the price point.

IMPORTANT: I can only speculate on how durable the product is longterm, so the rating included at this time is average. At this time, I would recommend this product for people who are beginning to explore backpacking and enjoy car-camping, or people who are a bit more experienced backpackers but quite frankly are a bit tight financially.

Its a good “bang-for-your-buck” product based on intended use, overall warmth, and initial quality alone.

I was able to test this in MI during a 5 degree Fahrenheit overnight. It performed very well. The bag is decently small (can be compressed well) and lightweight. It is a little tight if you’re also wearing a hoodie and coat at more extreme temperatures.

I recommend the biggest size if you are near 6′. You’ll have some room in length but probably appreciate the extra width/height. Overall, I like the sleeping bag.

I bought this sleeping bag not really doing too much research, but after I got it and started comparing to my friends’ I realized it is quite good for the price. It’s more compact than most generic brands for similar price.

It has nice compression straps on the well thought out water-repellant bag that keeps your bag dry even when water gets splashed on it. Used it for two nights; one about 5 degree celsius and it was a little chilly for my liking, the second night was about 9 degrees and it was much better.

I had a pad with an R value of 3. 9 and was only wearing base layers to sleep. All in all, for the price and compact factor, this is more than suitable for summer camping or even fall camping with some more layers you would already have when hiking during that time of year.

I’m 5’8 athletic build. The bag is comfy with decent room but is a little longer than I would like, and probably suitable for someone up to 6″.

I know that these ratings tend to vary given how well the person using the sleeping bag handles the cold and other weather factors. But after this past weekend, I’m fairly confident this is closer rated to 50 degrees than 45.

I was camping around Asheville, NC this weekend for 3 nights and tested this out in actually cold weather (40s and 50s versus 60s and 70s, which is what I tested it at last time). It worked fairly well but I give it about a B- for how it handles actually cold weather.

The tempertures for the weekend were between 45ish and 55ish and on the 45ish night I was bundled up in 2 tops, a beanie, very thick Smartwool socks and Smartwool thermal base layer pants and I was just warm enough.

Even at 55ish I was wearing extra clothes to keep me warm and, as far as I’m concerned, if a sleeping bag is rated for a temperature, I should be able to use it in just my underwear. or at least very minimal clothing.

Still, I love that it’s so compact and otherwise well-made. It definitely does the trick for almost 45 degrees.

Very happy with this sleeping bag for warm evenings that extend into chilly nights – spring, fall and high elevation summer camping. I took this summer backpacking though Alaska and it packs down in it’s cinch sack and is lightweight.

When I used the conch sack as a daypack in town, one of the outfitters said he had the same one and did the same thing with it (used as daypack). Great minds think alike. Super comfortable and love the material.

Not a sweaty layer of plastic at all. Machine washes great.

Mixed feelings about this bag but I still give it 5 stars. It’s not necessarily that much longer, but it is much WIDER than a regular bag by a few inches. I don’t like this because if you’re actually using it to camp in really cold temps, cool air can get into the huge top opening easily (I used it in 35 degrees, was fairly warm wearing layers) but I also loved this because I like to sleep with my knee sticking out to the side and this is the first bag where I can get fully into my comfort position.

Also, rolled up it is about twice the size of a “normal” warmer weather bag. This is definitely not for backpacking. I’ll never, ever get it back in the carry bag it came with. I do like the material and the stuffing loft very much.

It is a soft kind of brushed polyester. It is very comfortable, warm, and roomy. Overall I do very much like it, just need to figure out a way to block that big top opening if it’s actually cold. I don’t want a slim mummy bag I could never sleep in that.

Coleman is always dependable in my experience, this is a great price for such a substantial sleeping bag.

We now have 3 of these bags, 1- 0 degree regular and 2- 20 degree XL bags. We just got back from a second season elk hunt where we tent camped up on Grand Mesa, CO. Morning temps were in the high teens, low twenties, and the bags performed flawlessly! Great quality, and so comfortable, they were so much better than some of our previous mummy bags, due to room and not bunching when you rolled over.

With a light pad I never felt cold on the bottom side, we would highly recommend these great bags! My sons loved having the pocket for the pillow, although I didnt use it.

Why nobody ever thought of this before, I don’t know. It’s a perfect solution to cold arms and neck and shoulders when camping. The neck hole is large enough that it doesn’t choke you. Turning over is the only fuss you’ll have because you forget your head is through the hole in the night.

If you’re terribly claustrophobic or hate turtle necks, this may not be for you. But I love it!.

Great sleeping bag roomy, nice and warm. A nice feature is the canvas shell doesn’t seem to slide off my sleeping pad the way my nylon shell bag does. Good to the lowest temperatures I’d care to camp in.

I really like it for those cool Sierra fall nights. Only problem is it has a fairly strong “canvas” odor when it’s first unpacked. My suggestion would be to open it up and let it air out 7-10 days before using the first time.

We purchased these for a cool weather camping trip last October. Nights were only in the high 40s and we were uncomfortably cold. The fabric was cheap and scratchy, and the zipper on one of them broke on first use.

We’re experienced campers and were dressed appropriately. As we are a busy family and have not did not make it back to the store in a reasonable time to return. That’s on us. But I’m not taking these to a donation center so someone else can have a miserable experience.

I’m taking them to a cat rescue organization.

The Quest Rec Series Hybrid 30 degree Sleeping Bag is a great sleeping bag. It is 7 feet long and mummy shaped. It is much wider than a traditional mummy design sleeping bag, which is great since I am a little bigger person.

It has a right-handed 2-way zipper, which is easy to open and close. The sleeping bag has one internal pocket to store items in. The bag is rated to 30 degrees. Since I used it in warm weather, probably 50 degrees at night, it kept me very comfortable.

I was not too hot or too cold. It comes with a carrying case, which is very light. I highly recommend this sleeping bag, especially for camping in the warmer weather.

These are really great sleeping bags, and although they are labeled as Youth size, they are large enough for anyone about 5’6″ and under. The length is 6’1″, so it is only a foot shorter than the adult version.

The colors are beautiful and much more vibrant than displayed online. I was worried the red one would be too orange, but it is a really nice shade of red and the blue is a really nice teal/turquoise color.

Super warm and cozy, zippers are high quality! I got these for my 7 and 9 year old kids, but these will last them well into the teen years. Very happy with the purchase.

I like the weight, and pack ability of this specific bag, and it goes great with the super down pants and jacket for extra warmth if needed. Great ultra light combo. However, the bag is very snug when fully zipped, which becomes a comfort issue, which can result in less sleep.

Less sleep can drastically decrease performance. It would do a lot of good to add a few ounces of fabric to widen the bag. I also like that is doesn’t have a lot of loft. Which again, makes it very packable, I suppose a little wider bag will decrease pack ability slightly but the trade off in having a little more room, which equals better sleeping outcomes might prove to be beneficial.

I got this bag for fall & winter hunting but just used it on a week long hike in summer to test it out. It was a little too warm at night for this bag, around 50° so I just left it unzipped & partly pulled off, I also had a light bag liner also.

Slept one night with the rain fly off & everything was wet in the tent in the morning from due. I was able to get up, shake off my bag & pack it away dry. This 0° Super Down is super puffy, I couldn’t get it into the small stuff sack it came with, I used a large roll top dry sack (Kuiu).

This sleeping bag is expensive, but after this week of using it, the quality shows that it should last me a long time. I can now retire my pac bag that I’ve had for 35 years. Thanks Kuiu.

Temps got to about 15* one night (in a 15* bag) and my feet were all that got cold. This is normal for me, had to wear 2 pairs of socks & they were still cold, but everything else did fine. I was pleased with the relative packability although similar to other kuiu items, they were incorrect on their weigh (although not as significant as their pack).

I had the 15* regular weighing at 2. 11 lb (all tags removed & no stuff sack weight) vs advertised as 1 lb 15. 7 oz. Not a massive difference but enough to prevent a 5* review. I do like the actual weight, just not sure why it wasn’t represented accurately on their website.

Just got this bag in the mail for an Arctic expedition I am about to do. I immediately tried the bag on in -30 weather and I was warm. HOWEVER, a huge oversight is the zipper. It’s a dinky design and frustratingly hard to do up as it continuously snags on the material – only a matter of time before it gets permanently stuck or rips the fabric.

This is especially not ideal to fiddle with bare handed at -40 temps. The quality does not match the price tag. If I can find a replacement bag in time, I will be returning this one!.
