20 Best Hot Sauce Making Kit (2023 Updated)

We have only made one bottle of sauce so far. We are very excited to make the rest of the sauces when we run out of this one! We started with the Chipotle Sauce and it is delicious. This specific sauce is not for those who are not a fan of spicy things.

We haven’t made the milder ones yet, so I’m not sure about those. We did run into a small snag while making the sauce – when rehydrating the peppers we basically teargassed our entire apartment. We weren’t thinking and didn’t open any windows or use the fan above the stove.

By the time we realized what was happening, it was too late. We were coughing, sneezing, and crying. We laughed our way through it and now we have quite an entertaining story to share, but we won’t make the same mistake twice! We read through the whole booklet that comes in the kit before starting.

If there was a warning about needing good ventilation, we accidentally overlooked it. That’s the only thing I would change – include a pro tip to turn on your fan and open your windows! I would still highly recommend purchasing the hot sauce kit.

Not only did I give my boyfriend a physical gift to unwrap and use, but we also got a fun and inexpensive experience out of it! We can make 6 different hot sauces from the ingredients provided, then we can use what we learned to buy our own ingredients and start making our own sauces when this runs out.

We literally use it on everything. Making stir fry? There’s a sauce for that. Bored? There’s a sauce for that. Can’t taste because of COVID? Here, taste heat instead. Heck, let’s make our own Hot Ones challenge with all of our homemade and store-bought sauces since we’re stuck inside for two weeks.

My husband and I have been together for 36 years. We r at the stage in our life where we buy whatever we want, when we want. For Valentines I needed something for the man who has everything and loves to be in the kitchen, as well as a spice lover (the hotter, the better).

This unique gift matched all those criteria!! He hasn’t used it yet, but was impressed when he opened it. Cant wait to see him have fun!.

This really is a crazy ass challenge. Spiced up Christmas Day with this game. Hottest hot sauces we tried. Wooooooieee. Highly recommend if you want to spice up your game night.

Bought the line-up for me and it serendipitously arrived at the same time as guests were visiting. I was not expecting them to go anywhere near my precious collection. My wife has one hot sauce favorite and one only (Garlic n’ Peperoncini) but is a trooper when it comes time to sample.

To my surprise, everyone lined up to take the “Shalange. ” We made some steak fries (simple and we’re vegetarians) and poured ample samples of the line-up on plates – a 1 through 10 if you will. Quick aside, our guests included a husband and wife and their two daughters (13 & 16), who don’t eat anything spicy.

They don’t have a bottle of anything remotely hot in their house. We all walked the walk, sometimes even double dipping to ensure coverage, and exited with bragging rights. Another surprise was that everyone seemed to settle in the middle of the line-up as far as favorites go (Mezcaline, The Seventh Reaper, Tyrfing’s Curse).

Um, no one liked Da Bomb, which reading the ingredients seems like it would taste great. The Last Dab lives up to its name. We spent the rest of the evening regaled by Hot One’s episodes. If I might throw in a suggestion for guests on the show, try a salad with beets and balsamic/olive oil side to combat the heat between bites.

It works to calm the storms.

This season’s selection of hot sauces are very good. I think 9 of them are great. The Adoboloco Island Wings #2 sauce is the only one that I thought was just OK because it wasn’t spicy and was a bit too sweet for my liking.

All others have great, distinct flavors and contribute great flavor and heat to most Mexican dishes as well as many other dishes of other nationalities such as German, American/Creole/Southern, Chinese, Thai, Jamaican, and even Italian or French or Greek which are typically not spicy but adding a little spice and contrasting flavor to dishes like gyros or linguini with red clam sauce or beef pho soup is easily accomplished with this 10 pack.

I also use them for marinating chicken/pork/fish as well as spicing up my homefried potatoes with onions, and have even added some Los Calientes Red to a bloody mary to spice it up a lot more than what the traditional horse radish and Tobasco does.

A dab of The Last Dab goes great in gyoza dipping sauce to add a lot of heat without significantly altering the original flavor of the sauce. The packaging for this is also far superior to previous year’s packaging so it is great to give as a gift now.

Not only was it fun to see what all the fuss was about, these sauces actually taste quite nice! Minus Da Bomb, which is evil incarnate. 😈 The Last Dab was indeed spicy, but not as spicy as I expected.

It comes on a bit slower, quite the opposite to Da Bomb which really. really was accurately named. I kind of expected to buy these, try them, and maybe keep a few of the less spicy ones, but I’m actually pretty happy to keep using them all! Although I may reserve Da Bomb for any guests who are feeling adventurous and want a taste of this experience.

I was not expecting to enjoy each and every one especially Da Bomb! I got this set for my husbands birthday and we tried them all out as soon as we got our shipment which was quick! Each sauce has such an amazing flavor profile and sophisticated! Another cool aspect is that all of the sauces compliment one another.

We lined the sauces up like the show and went on a wild ride. We both love spicy foods and felt these sauces were manageable. For us they weren’t hot to the point we couldn’t eat them. We ate generous portions and were able to handle each one.

Da Bomb will sneak up on you though and it honestly felt like I was having a psychedelic experience because I ate too much haha but it was flavorful. It makes you want to keep going back for more because of the rush! It’s hard to pick a favorite out of this collection so they are all my favorite.

We purchased another box already because we are already running through the hot sauce and it’s literally been one day (we probably use more sauce than others). The box it comes in is very nice and sold, and the hot sauces are nicely decorated.

The sauces are awesome. I’ve only used them as a party trick thus far. I’ve personally done the 10-wing-challenge 3 times. It gets, uhm, less painful each time. Or maybe u cope better with it from one time to the next.

When u use the sauces to “replicate” the show, it’s a really fun partytrick. I’ve already had 3 people be proud of themselves for completing it. And some saying the next day was tougher than the challenge itself.

I want to add that I am a chili freak, and ofc I feel some of the pain on esp #8 and 10, but I am fairly used to the burn. U are way better off just relaxing, and not trying to find a remedy (nothing really helps if it truely burns).

Just take the heat, running all over the house won’t help u – neither will yoghurt or other fatty means of “help”. It burns. Ok? However, this is how I liked the sauces (in order): #1 Classic Hot Sauce – Really nice tasting sauce.

Bit of vinegar, runny, but really nice taste. #2 Dawsons Hot Sauce – I’d describe this similar to #1. A bit runny, vinegar comes through, but nice taste. Some of my guests said they felt some heat here.

#3 Calabria – easilly my favorite in terms of taste. Thick sauce. Nice tomato, fresh – just very good. U will start feeling some slight heat here. #4 Angry Goat Pepper – more along the lines of #1 and 2, only u feel the heat creeping slightly.

#5 Los Calientes – super tasty sauce. More sweet, but also fresh. Easily #2 in terms of taste after #3. Heat is nice. #6 Queen Majesty Cocoa – probably the most surprising of all the sauces. I really liked it, but I’ll understand anyone who doesn’t.

Very nice heat on this one. #7 13 Angry Scorpions – I’m gonna argue tastewise, it’s not a million miles away from #1, 2 and 4. Same as #6 in terms of increase in heat. A small step-up. #8 Da Bomb – this is just a terrible sauce made for pain.

I want to argue it hurts more than #9 and 10 despite SHU insuperiority. It is a quick actor and long laster. Instand pain, and it comes in waves. I want to argue that thos sauce tastes the worst – by FAR.

But it is fun watching how people react to it. Almost as if they are trying to run from pain they know they are stuck with 😂 #9 Puckerbutt Pepper – I want to say this sauce is different from the rest in terms of taste.

It isn’t my favorite tastewise, not my least favorite either, I’ll put this one in tje middle of the pack. In terms of heat, and if u use the sauces in order from 1 to 10, #9 won’t bother u much after Da Bomb.

U dead at this point xD #10 Apollo – taste: Great. Heat: Crazy. The weird thing is u can actually taste the flavors despite 2mln+ SHU. This, however, is the one sauce that reactivate #8 😂 If u try this sauce just for fun without running the gauntlet – it’s nearly like pouring acid on ur tongue.

But if u “walk into it” – it is a very good sauce. Overall 9/10 from Norway for this box. Season 17 makes me want to buy season 18 – despite the insane price.

I ordered this for my Hubby. He is a huge fan of HotOnes and has always wanted to try the hot sauces. He is obsessed with Hot and Spicy anything. He always tries the hottest foods when he can and always says it’s never spicy or hot enough… he is a champ! I unfortunately can’t do anything spicy or hot.

For our 10year wedding anniversary I order this and it arrived today! It looks amazing, he was like a kid on Christmas! We are so happy with the order and shipping everything is great! He immediately went and got wings and started trying all them asap.

He was so happy and loved them all. His favorite for sure is Los Calientes. He said it was perfect. Best present he has ever received! He did tear up a bit on the da bomb and last dab (no water), he was impressed.

I think the Good Hurt Fuego Sampler pack would be the best unique gift you could give. I love how it was packaged like dynamite with a little gift tag tied to it. I loved the variety of hot sauces in the pack.

Everything was beautifully packaged to give as a gift. This gift would be perfect for someone who loves to experiment with different flavors and likes some variety. This would be the perfect gift that has a lot of variety to it with each hot sauce being different and unique.

There was also a little note describing the company which put a nice touch on the product. The hot sauces are each individually wrapped making each one like a little surprise when they open all the different 7 sauces.

I think the idea of this gift pack is very creative and thoughtful for someone you care about. The packaging alone was enough to make me want to buy these as gifts. Each bottle was the perfect size not too big not too small.

The Good Hurt Fuego Sampler Pack is a fantastic gift for those friends or family members who love to experience a variety of tastes with the wonderful sauces included. My hubby and his friends are always searching for a new hot sauce to try.

This sample pack provides a great variety and levels of hot along with great flavors to boot. The concept of dynamite sticks is very intriguing to them, sparking interest immediately. The ghost pepper and whiskey habanero were their favorites since they really brought the heat along with fantastic flavors.

The cayenne pepper goes great with homemade chili too, we tried this with leftover chili from the previous weekend. Score!!! I really enjoyed the smokey bourbon garlic pepper, garlic herb and chipotle pepper since I am not into the really hot but loved flavors!! I can’t wait to share this with family members this holiday season since it’s such a perfect idea!!.

This set came packaged very well in the shipping box. Then once you open the outside package and get the gift set out, it is a very unique packaging. I love how it looks like dynamite. The hot sauce flavors are clearly marked on the outside packaging which is nice.

The flavors that are in this set are different from your typical flavors that would be found in the grocery store or any other sets that I have seen. My husband enjoyed most of the flavors in this set.

I had been going to the Burlington and Wiliston stores for years. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. One year I ordered Xmas stuff for my daughter and I was a little short on the free shipping.

The woman on the phone suggested I get a gift certificate for another occasion. Since my daughter is a master gardener this was the perfect suggestion for a birthday gift. Yes it was an ‘upsale’ but a completely great suggestion.

My son-in-law will love this hot sauce set. Can’t wait to give it to him during the holidays. Also have mercury ornaments hoarded away for other holidays. Gave your catalog to a co-worker and she was thrilled.

This kit has everything you need to make six, 5 oz jars of fairly tasty hot sauce. Most everything is all measured out and all you have to do is mix it together, heat it and pour it in the jars provided with the kit.

Simple quick and easy. Takes less than 10 minutes start to finish (for each recipe). The only problem i encountered was that the recipe calls for 4 Tbsps of vinegar which seemed like too much and after tasting it i have to conclude it is a typo in the instructions.

Use 1, maybe 2 Tbsps of vinegar, no more. i hope Gardener’s Supply can check their instructions and fix this for future buyers.

I was really looking forward to this as we love hot sauce. But it was not at all what I was expecting. Everything was basically already done when the kit arrived, so all we did was mix the pre-packaged materials together.

If you’re looking for something easy this could be for you. But if you want to learn how to make hot sauce, like we did, then don’t bother.

I wanted to give this 5 stars. The kit was exactly as pictured and described. It’s so well thought out and designed and so creative. My sister loved it. However, it was a gift and my gift message was not sent with the box.

I would have sent a card myself had I known they would have no clue who it was from. The card was a big part of the gift so I’m extremely disappointed about that. If you send your own card, it’s the perfect gift.

I saw this item online and knew I had to purchase it for my daughter-in-law’s birthday. She loves, loves, loves spicey foods! The hotter the better. I know she has attempted to conjure up her own hot sauces.

But she always says her sauces are just missing something. So when I spied this DIY Kit I knew it was perfect for her. She thinks so, too!.

I was really impressed and satisfied with this purchase. I bought this as a gift for my friend’s birthday. I was smart, because she loved the gift, and I get to benefit from the hot sauce she makes 😛 The box that it came in was beautiful and I didn’t have to transfer it into anything else which saved me time, money, and resources.

There was no damage to the box or the product. The quality of the items in the box were great and the bottles to hold the hot sauces are beautiful. I was really impressed and highly recommend buying this.

I bought this as a gift for a dear friend who is a chef. I expected the kit to be more rudimentary, in a way. It would have been much more creative and inspiring if the ingredients had been packaged separately so that you could really play around with them.

As a chef, my friend was disappointed to find that it was more of a “just add water” type of kit. Fool-proof, to be sure, but hardly a fun challenge. I would not recommend this kit for anyone who enjoys cooking, it’s too simplistic.

I don’t know who else would be interested in it.

I just received this product as a present for my nephew. I know that the variety is just what he likes. He will also love the packaging.

Was REALLY looking forward to the sauces. We watch and follow the Youtube channel and couldn’t wait to get on the heat train…. Sadly. No train, just wasted money. Ordered and paid for international courier delivery on August 12.

After 1 month still no tracking updates. (We order heaps of stuff online without issues even during the pandemic, everything arrives normally within 2 weeks – 3 weeks, expected with the current situation, we also run a large E-commerce store ourselves, so we know how long shipping takes.

Kept being given the “pandemic excuse” was just a cop out, they didn’t know where it was. DHL and Heatonist were arguing with each other as to where my package was, while we had to idly sit by and wait for that to finish.

To their credit, Heatonist jumped in to help and re-sent the package but now used the slow postal service to get it to us. It just gets worse from here ☹ Fast forward to October, 12th we received it.

2 months after the order (missed the birthday it was a gift for but we figure no problem there really) What was the worst part is how it was packed (or not packed? Absolutely horrible) International or domestic shipping with bottles just floating around in a box, ZERO protection apart from a bit of paper stuffed in the main box.

3 – 4 small boxes inside a box big enough to hold a German Shephard. The moment we opened the box, I could smell it. The bottles had smashed, the had all rubbed together so hard the glass was starting to shave off.

The expiry dates gone and the sauces soaked into the cardboard packaging. (Smelled great but wasn’t about to starting eating glass covered spicy cardboard to test out the flavor. Real big shame, for such a long wait and such poor attention to detail for shipping, disappointed doesn’t really describe it.

A family friend recommended this trio to me. I’ve followed Hot Ones for a few years now and figured I’d finally try some of the sauces. I understand why The Classic is in this trio because it’s, well, The Classic.

For me it was alright. It tastes good but as far as the world of hot sauce it’s just “meh” for me. This will only be too spicy for the people that are highly averse to any kind of spiciness in food. It’s also quite fluid so it’ll easily drip out of homemade burritos but would be great mixing into things.

Now the Los Calientes might be one of the best sauces I’ve ever had. The combination of flavors is incredible and the apricot really makes it. There’s a lot of ingredients but they all work perfectly well together.

At their 5/10 spiciness it’s fantastic for liberal use without the heat being overwhelming. It’s somewhat viscous so it won’t dribble everywhere but is also easily spreadable. The Apollo Last Dab is what it’s meant to be, 10/10 heat.

Oh yeah, at the time of its creation this sauce is the hottest ever on Hot Ones. It’s hard to describe the flavor, a good balance between sweet and sour, tastes like the bass note of a song. tastes hot before you feel the heat.

The Apollo pepper is a hybrid between the hottest pepper in the world, the Carolina Reaper, and its contender, Pepper X. The goal was to create a new, hottest hot sauce in the world. I truly do have it as my last dab on my food (regardless of being called “The Last Dab”) because if I eat it on the first bite, I won’t be able to finish my meal.

It’s also incredibly viscous. Overall, this is a great trio of mild spice, hot spice, and crying spice, all of which tasting great. I totally recommend. I will be buying a lot more Los Calientes in the future.

Well, well, well, we meet again Saucelords. This time I decided to buy the Season 17 Trio as I knighted my eldest child into the spice game. We tried all three, in succession, on some tasty burritos and the young one passed with flying colors! Although the Apollo had her running for the cold water, she did eat it.

It was hilarious. There is video. The best part of any Hot Ones sauce is that the fire never outshines the flavor. Having tried “Da Bomb”, I can tell you that making delicious sauces is a better business decision than making explosive sauces.

When I run down this trio, expect another order. It’s worth it.

This is the best hot sauce I’ve had. It goes on everything, but it especially tastes good on breakfast foods. It is the perfect spice level and is so tasty. I couldn’t recommend this enough! I am never disappointed when it comes to Louisiana hot sauce!.

This is an absolute staple in our kitchen! So deliciously spicy – but not so spicy you can’t enjoy your meal! Absolutely recommend Louisiana hot sauce to any and every one! A must on any soul food dish!.

This is a great package of 12 assorted flavors of hot sauce. I bought a package for my husband for Christmas as he’d had the Dat’l Do-It brand previously and really liked it. It also helped that the package was half-price at the time.

He liked it so much that I’ve purchased several more since then, still marked at half the regular price. The pack offers an assortment of interesting flavors, some the normal jalapeno, habanero or chipotle, others with added flavors.

This item apparently has never been available at our local Walmart, so I’ve ordered online in each case. The packages have all arrived well-packed and unbroken. I recommend this item to everyone out there who loves the great taste of hot sauce and is willing to try something new.

The price is right, each separate bottle has it’s own unique flavor and they all taste great.

Having a grand collection of hot sauces, and planning 100% of my meals around them, this little collection is impressive when I was expecting it to disappoint. The best of the bunch is definitely the Sweet Chipotle.

Nice mild sauce with a balanced sweet and smokey flavor. This bottle was half empty after the first meal. The most disappointing was Green Pepper sauce. It was a slightly off white color(which intrigued me), but was a total failure.

Bland and not heat. Perfect for baby food. I received this as a gift. It was purchased from the store. Sad for those who didn’t get to enjoy the full variety. Very sad to see it discontinued. I’ve paid 5 times the $15 marked price for one bottle of sauce.

This is a great value and good quality sauces.

These are not the hottest sauces out there. But the variety is really nice. I really like the garlic habanero and the one with the Teriyaki. I’ve seen reviews saying bottles arrived broken, but this did not happen to me.

They arrived in perfect condition, packaged very safely. So I think they’ve listened to the feedback.

Absolutely amazing! Delicious smoky flavor with great spices. We took a tour of the Tabasco factory a couple of years ago and tasted this there, now I have to search to find it but thank goodness Walmart carries it as a shipping item.

We use it in Chile, Frito chili pie, sloppy Joe’s and anything that has a smoky tomato base. It is absolutely wonderful. The original has a tiny bit of heat but nothing overwhelming. It is one of our favorites and it is a pantry staple.

This is a very good chili starter. My chilly comes out delicious. I usually use ground Turkey instead of ground beef but I’m sure it’ll be just as good with ground beef. I do add in bell peppers and onions And a few other seasoning, really yummy.

Been using this Chili Starter for 20 + years as my Secret chili recipe. Im constantly asked by our friends for my secret, but wont give it out. Used to be able to buy at the grocery years ago, but now have to order it, which is ok I guess.

If you havent already tried it, your missing out. As a suggestion, use a stout beer, not water. Also use good steak, and bbq it to medium rare.

This is a great gift for anyone who brags about their “heat” tolerance. They are very realistic. My only complaint is that they didn’t come as a set as only one was boxed and the others in bubble wrap.

THESE were a gift they arrived as individual bottles where as catalog presented them as in one box a trio. The way they arrived it seems could have had individual charge/price.

There was quite a fiasco with this order but they made it right & promptly. My husband likes what he’s tried so far. Would I recommend – YES!!

Flavor isn’t bad, this is more of in my opinion a sort of gag gift for those people who like hot sauce. Even though its offering some spicy pepper sauces, their all pretty equal in spice and I’d say its compareable to Lousiana, or Franks (including the Habanero pepper sauce).

Overall nice gift for hot sauce lovers, will be disappointed with the heat. Get them a bottle of Tobasco or Tobasco Habanero.

Variety of flavors and spice. Son (gift) likes it better than normal store hot sauces we normally buy. Good size bottles. Really spicy options.

WOW WOW !! for the low price I thought this package would be a small taste it type of gift, I’m very impressed with the size of these bottles, boxed really well ! this will be better then I had hoped for a gift for my grandson for Christmas, I think he’ll like trying all the different hot sauces.

I enjoy some heat, but really like the flavor that comes with some of the hot sauces. My wife purchased this for me and I’ve tried the “extra hot” and “chipotle” so far. The Chipotle has a great depth of flavor and is half way mild so I can use it everywhere.

The extra hot is not as hot as I expected(good for me) and also has good flavor. Perfect size bottles to give you a nice taste of each flavor without having too much to go bad over time. Anxious to try a few more – hopefully they will be just as good.

One of the bottles was broken when it arrived and sauce was spilled all over the rest of the products and box. I contacted customer service and was offered a replacement which I accepted. Days went by and I didn’t get any notification of the replacement status.

I contacted them again and was told the replacement was denied by the review team (I was never notified of that). The rep told me they tried to process it but could not. I was then offered and refund and was told I would be contacted via email with the updated info.

I never received an email. So I had to once again contact customer service and was told again I would get a refund. This time I was given a reference number. In my opinion a weeks time and 3 calls is unacceptable customer service.

I will wait the allotted time and check my statement for the refund and hopefully it has been done. That was my first and LAST time shopping Sam’s Club.

Variety of great tasting hot sauces! Packaged well, and comes in a handsome display box, suitable to give as a gift or have on display in the kitchen. Wonderful assortment for anyone who loves hot sauces!.

This is a collection of three very good hot sauces. Xtreme Regret is by far the hottest. The heat is great and the flavor isn’t bad, but the scorpion peppers do give it a slightly bitter aftertaste. It’s a good choice when you really want to add some fire to a dish.

The Ghost Pepper Sauce is the next hottest, although far behind Regret. It has a lovely, rich, bold flavor, letting the first two ingredients of ghost peppers and habaneros do most of the heavy lifting.

This is my favorite sauce of the three. The Reaper Sauce, while the most unique, is also the most misleading. The sauce is sweet with very little hint of heat from the Reapers. The first things you’ll taste are the black cherries and brown sugar.

The sauce also contains cranberry sauce, Kentucky bourbon, and, of course, Carolina Reapers. It is an extremely interesting and unique flavor. I am certain it would go great with certain foods, but I haven’t quite figured out exactly what.

The flavor really stands out and catches you by surprise. It’s not subtle. I do wish it had a lot more heat, however. Overall I’m very pleased to add these excellent sauces to my collection. I’m sure they’ll see a lot of use.

Absolutely love all three of these! It’s clear that a lot of time and effort was put into getting just the right blend of flavor and heat. The flavor profiles are subtly distinct – I suspect mostly due to the slight difference in the peppers used as the bases for each sauce, but each one definitely has it’s own character.

The XTreme Regret is hotter than the other two, but still very tasty and not something that overpowers the experience. Great job on these! Will definitely buy again!.

While these are some of the hotter sauces I’ve had, don’t be scared of the Scoville units. The flavor and heat blend beautifully. I find the Xtreme Regret goes great in soups and to add flavorful kick to dips, and the Reaper sauce could be salsa by it self for people that enjoy things on the spicier side.

It’s super palatable given the Scoville rating. Ghost pepper sauce is a fantastic all around hot sauce to have on the table for general use. They are all fantastic!.

I bought this one as well as the Medicinal Herb/Tea and Culinary Herb kits to get myself started. Just been tired of not having fresh herbs at home and paying extortionate prices at the store. These are such a good price I figured it was the right path to enter into the world of grow-you-own at my place.

The kits are extremely comprehensive, the instructions are easy, everything comes well packaged and separated so you can start as many/few as you like. I have had them going for a little over a week now and 90% of the seeds have germinated successfully.

I’m only waiting on about 5 individual starter pods out of 36 total. All of the current germinating plants look great, very healthy, and are well on their way to becoming healthy enough to move to their larger homes.

It really is such a great way to start at such a reasonable price as well. Costs about the same as about 3-4 bundles of herbs so why not try it yourself first. Can’t wait to start my next round of seedlings :-).

I decided this year I wanted to try and grow my own annuals. I purchased this kit and it is hands down the best. I started my seeds and less Than a week later had sprouts. I just purchased some more planters so I can plant the rest of the seeds that were left over.

I should have a good variety of flowers this spring.
