20 Best Hot Food Lunch Container (2023 Updated)

We currently own two of these lunch box already, one V1 and one V2. This is my 3rd purchase for this lunch box as I wanted to replace one of the v1 for the V2. Compared to the V1 it has improved a lot.

The cover is easier to open, the thermos fit anyway instead of the perfect fit required for the V1. Most importantly the rubber seal has Changed so that nothing is trapped in between to creat mold. It take very little time to clean and dry now.

It is such a time saver and worth the money to replace the V1. I love that they don’t need an additional outer layer bag to put their lunch box in. The lunch box is big enough to carry all their snacks and lunch for the day.

The kids love the lunch box and are so proud to carry it around.

I bought this for my extremely picky eater and it’s given us so many more options for her school packed lunch. I always make sure to warm the thermos part with boiling water first as that really helps to keep the food warm until lunch.

She’s had pasta dishes, rice dishes and thick soups so far. The lunch box as a whole can hold a good amount of food and I also bought the silicone snack pots which are great as they’re leak proof so you can use them for things like yoghurts.

It definitely worth the money and I’d definitely recommend. My only negative is that’s it’s a little chunkier/heavier than our other lunch boxes.

Love and highly recommend this item. Purchased this for my 4 years old son. It fit main entrees, fruit, snack, and drink. For older kid, you can add more food in replace to drink. Thermal keep food very warm per teacher feedback! No carry bag require.

Utensil sold separately that can be conveniently hang on the lunch box. It is truly an all in one lunchbox for my son. I no longer need separate containers for hot food/snack/etc.

I bought this for my daughter for school last year. We take good care of our things and she is one of the cleanest kids I’ve ever seen. I was very disappointed in the exterior of the lunchbox. I wiped it clean every day after school with water and a paper towel and followed the instructions to wash it more deeply as needed, but it came home each day looking worse and worse.

The material also scratched very easily. In preparation for next year, I did a comparison of the insulation capabilities to another, much less expensive, lunchbox and at the end of a 5 hour test, the results on the thermometer for each lunchbox were the exact same.

For the test, I used the same thermometer, same ice pack, and same contents. The only change was the lunchbox itself. This lunchbox is also much heavier than our comparison lunch box. I would not recommend paying the extra money for this particular lunchbox, because I can’t see where the value is.

I am a huge fan of other hydroflask products, and I’m so thankful for the company, but this product does need some refinement.

I bought this to keep cold lunches (sandwiches, sliced apples, cold chicken tenders) cold while working outside as a summer gardener. The food stayed cold for an hour or two then quickly became warm.

When working outside one would expect several hours of cold preservation. Not with this product. In fact, after the cold contents were no longer cold, the lunch box actually began to absorb heat, making any leftovers warm after 3 hours of being outside.

I am really disappointed considering the cost and anticipation of the product. Better insulation or the ability to freeze the box would make this product better. I’ve now got an expensive and useless lunch box that sits in the closet – barely after 3 uses.

I really wanted to love these lunchboxes. I bought them for my kids after a long search for a great, classic-looking, monotone lunchbox. I was super excited to get them from Hydro Flask, a company I know makes great products.

The lunchboxes are good, but NONE of the plastic lunch box inserts from any of the major companies fit inside (rubbermaid, Bentgo, etc). Very frustrating since I feel like a lot of people like to use those, especially for kids.

If this were just a CM bigger in either direction it would be perfect. It’s also a little more shallow than I expected inside, but that was not a deal breaker. They also seem like they would get dirty very easily and would be difficult to wash.

Well made, sturdy item. Difficult to open, would not use for soup, could spill out while opening. Does not keep food hot, barely warm. In the morning, prepped container by filling with boiling water for 10 minutes (placed lid to keep heat in while prepping container).

Filled with freshly cooked, piping hot chicken and rice and packed container in an insulated lunch bag. Kept in vehicle when outside temp was 80 degrees until lunchtime 5 hours later. Food was barely warm.

It barely kept piping hot food warm on a hot day, definitely won’t keep it warm during the winter when a hot meal is needed. As part of the same lunch, packed freshly cooked zucchini in a thermos food king jar and it was piping hot at lunchtime.

I bought 2 of these containers. They are very sturdy, nice looking and easy to clean. Just recently, one of the containers had issue with keeping food warm. I called customer service and they were very helpful and sent me a replacement item.

My other container is still working completely fine and it does keep my daughter’s lunch warm. Highly recommend this!.

I bought this a little over a month ago. My husband works in construction, So he has nowhere to warm up his food. I just prepare it per the instructuons to add boiling water and it stays hot until his lunchtime (5 hours after preparing) Ive boughten a few others and havent really been satisified, or food just stays warm.

I also really enjoy the wide mouth feature.

Purchased this for kindergarten teacher who is no longer able to leave the classroom to heat up lunch because lunch is not eaten in the classroom due to Covid and it is a wonderful lunch time solution.

The bag compartment fits so much as well. Bought it in pink, it’s pretty shade said by a person who does not fancy pink in general :).

I like the convenience of the bag. You don have to leave your classroom. Just make sure they send the correct bag. You may get a bag with 12V inlet instead of a 120V inlet. Which as advertised is a 120V but they sent me a 12V for a car.

i love that it cooks food perfectly. but the extra storage compartment is not well made. only had it for 2 1/2 months of use before it ripped which is frustrating.

I love that this glass bento box can be used so many different ways. If you meal prep it’s a great size for storing prepped ingredients or it can be used to store a complete prepped meal. I use it a lot for fresh fruits and veggies to have on hand for snacks but I mostly love it for leftovers.

I can store a main dish in the large 3 cup side, toss it in the freezer, and then add leftover sides from other meals to the two 1 cup dividers later and pop it right back in the freezer. I thaw it in the fridge then uncover and pop it in a cold oven (I put it in when I turn it on, no preheating.

I don’t put the cold glass in a hot oven or go straight from freezer to oven) to reheat. It’s also microwave and dishwasher safe. It’s a great way to make a healthy meal when I’m short on time and depending on what’s stored and how full I’ve filled it we can often feed our family of three or lunch for two out of one storage container.

With a large 5″x5″x2. 6″ 3 cup and two smaller 2. 75″x2. 75″x2. 6″ 1 cup sections the bento box works well for a variety of foods. The lid has a silicone seal (removes easily for deep cleaning) and the lid locks down on all for sides for a tight, secure seal.

But most importantly the top of the lid has raised portions that fit over the glass dividers and along the edges for sealing each portion. Even if the dish is turned on its side the juice from your corn isn’t going to mix with your mashed potatoes or get your fried chicken mushy for example.

My main concern was storing liquids or runny foods so I was really happy to see this feature. While I wouldn’t store it sideways or upside down while full I don’t have to worry about it tipping during travel if I were taking it somewhere.

Definitely a great item. I’ll be buying a few more because I think with them stacked it’ll really help keep my fridge and freezer more organized while still being able to see exactly what’s inside.

I love this glass snack container. It’s a really thick glass so I’m not worried about it breaking when I send it with my daughter for her school lunches. I love that it has separate compartments! We love them so much that I just ordered the glass lunch containers and I’m excited to get them.

Definitely worth the purchase!.

Love this – however I don’t use it very often as it is a bit heavy and bulky for smaller female hands to carry. However, it’s very nice to have a container that keeps items separate and does not leak into the compartments.

I bring my lunch daily this is fantastic to use. Just a bit heavy for me to carry everyday walking along with my drinks and laptop.

So far I am very pleased with my new lunch cooler! It’s only had one week of use so far, but I wanted to leave a review to point out what I like about it and strongly suggest one way Yeti could make it an even better product.

I had a hard time choosing between the Daytrip Lunch Box and the Daytrip Lunch Bag, but ended up choosing this one because of the more rigid construction offering better protection of whatever is inside, the zip closure, and the “lip” feature it has around the top edge that essentially provides a little tray surface if you have no table to eat at and just want to put the Lunch Box in your lap as a dining surface.

I work outdoors in my job teaching nature programs, so I wanted something a little more rugged than your typical “office worker” lunch bags/coolers you can buy at any old store; this one is much more suited to dragging around on the trails for my work or play, because as I said, you don’t even need a table to eat at if you have it, and also because it has a water-resistant exterior and won’t get soaked in a passing shower.

I love the multiple handles to carry it too, and another smart feature is the magnets that help keep the lid in place! The Yeti Thin Ice products aren’t currently in stock, so I haven’t used it with those, but I have been using my old random ice packs from other brands and they fit in just fine.

My one suggestion to make it even better is that I would LOVE to have this lunch box come with a removable shoulder strap. I actually bought the Large Rambler Bottle Sling along with this (in matching Alpine Yellow), and that product does come with a removable shoulder strap.

I tried that strap on this Lunch Box (attaching it to the two side handles), and it works great. I contacted Yeti customer service to see if they could send me another of the Bottle Sling straps so I could keep one on my Bottle Sling and one on my Lunch Box, but when the kind customer service representative looked into it, she found that Yeti doesn’t *currently* have replacement Bottle Sling straps available.

If Yeti were able to offer replacement Bottle Sling straps in the future (or offer them for this product specifically), it would make the Daytrip Lunch Box even easier to carry with you out on the trails.

I purchased these lunch boxes for my high schoolers a few months ago. Now that they have been using them for some time, there is a notable design flaw that I wish I had been made aware of. Although the bags are nice and compact and can be easily attached to their back packs with carabiners, the bags are incredibly difficult to clean inside.

No matter what position you place the bag (on its side, upside down, standing straight up), the top automatically closes onto its magnet. This makes cleaning the inside difficult because it renders it nearly impossible to stay open for drying.

Trust me, it will drive you nuts after trying to clean them if you use them regularly, as my boys do for school. (Also, the bag capacity feels much smaller than the Yeti lunch box. ) If you are on the fence whether to buy the bag or the box, 10/10 recommend the box.

The bag needs to have the design flaw fixed.

The Yeti lunch box is awful, this Yeti lunch bag is great; I bought two along with two Yeti ice. How it works best for me is, first place your Yeti ice at the bottom of the bag when empty while you get your lunch/food items ready.

When you’re ready to pack your food then take your Yeti ice out and place your boxier food container(s) at the bottom, then your Yeti ice, then place the rest of your food items on top of that to evenly distribute the cold.

There are reasons for this: 1) this way you’re also pre-cooling the bag, and 2) you keep the bag from sweating on the bottom. It’s happened twice where I’ve placed the Yeti ice directly on the bottom of the lunch bag then found sweating on the bottom exterior of the material.

I think the sweating can happen because the bottom exterior is a harder material which may be prone to getting cooler when the Yeti ice is placed directly on the inside bottom of the bag. I keep my Yeti lunch bag on my window sill at work so having the bag out like that and with the bottom of it getting very cold, it just causes sweating.

Fortunately the sweating wasn’t a problem since I hadn’t placed the lunch bag on any paperwork. My husband keeps his Yeti lunch bag in the refrigerator at his work so he doesn’t have the bag sweating problem.

The best way to avoid external sweating is to first pre-cool the bag then place your food items inside, then place your Yeti ice on top. I find this works best because cold also flows downward. Like is said, I keep my Yeti lunch bag on the window sill by my desk (I just don’t like going to the refrigerator since sometimes there’s food on surfaces or people can touch your bag or move it around, I just don’t that) and after I have my lunch and snacks, I end up with just a cold Yeti ice in the otherwise empty bag which means that at times there’s sweating on the inside of the bag.

I’m just careful when I get home to place the Yeti ice back in the freezer for the next day and dry off the inside of the Yeti lunch bag then I also leave the top open just make sure it’s dried out fully.

Like I said, this is what I’ve found works best for me since I keep my lunch bag out and since I’m in the Bay Area we don’t have any air conditioning in our building and we keep the windows open; also I don’t use the refrigerator.

My husband stores his Yeti lunch bag in the refrigerator at his work and he doesn’t have the sweating issues with his bag at all. I bought the gray bag for myself and the navy for him and we love the durability of the material, how you can adjust the bag to accommodate the size of your food container(s).

Also, a 6-pack fits perfectly in the bag. The problem at times can be with the hook which goes into a loop to close. Sometimes closing the bag is a challenge when you can’t get the hook through the loop you want.

Otherwise, I love this lunch bag; it works great and I can keep it by my desk. One suggestions though, a Yeti strap to carry the bag over your shoulder would be nice; the bag already has two loops on top for a strap so I’m ready to purchase when one is available.

I absolutely love this lunch box…..it heats my lunch pretty fast and it keeps my food very juicy….just like a crock pot, but in a lunch box.

I normally love U konserve products. I have so many of them. But I recently bought my daughter the seafoam hot/cold thermos. The sticker on it is horrible. There is no way to get it off. I’m beyond frustrated.

Why does it have to be so complicated? I dont have 45 min to try to scrub off a sticker. Ridiculous.

The U-Konserve Insulated Food Jar is great! My daughter has been using the kid’s version for summer camp, and she loves having warm food so much, that I bought two more of this adult version to add into the rotation for the upcoming school year.

The adult version is not dishwasher safe, the kids version is. That would be the only thing I wish were different, but otherwise it’s a great product.

Most thermoses has spoons embedded in the cap now a days. Would have been a nice feature. That being said, it’s still a nice product. Good size for my daughters lunches. #sweepstakes

Almost perfect cup. We loved this cup for our daughter since she was 6 months old and drinking water. We have used the same one for almost 2 years but after a while they sort of leak from the lid. We always hand wash them ( better to take them apart and get in all the small spaces that way).

The designs have held perfectly on the bottles even when dropped etc. one other issue is that now that my daughter is older she needs more water , once you add ice there’s like no water in there. I need the bigger thermos cup to come with a straw already! We’re big fans of this tumbler but not using it for school because it’s too small now and she’s only 2 🙁 thermos help!.

When you follow the instructions and preheat the thermos with boiling water, it will keep the food lukewarm for an entire schoolday. This is much better than the alternative of having a gelatinous cold blob of macaroni at lunchtime.

The metallic blue looks great. buy the cap design is hard for kids to twist open. why wouldn’t thermos design a better cap to provide some grip and leverage for kids small hands? the spoon included in the lid is a fun touch but i would have also liked a foldable fork to be including because the cap seems to have enough space for more than one utensil.

The design on the bottle is nice but it is of poor quality. It started leaking soon after purchase. I first thought it was because of carbonated water being put into a vaccum container making it leak through the straw.

That wasn’t the issue. So than I noticed it continued to leak even with plain water. The leaking would come from both the bottom and the top. For the price tag of the item I expected longer use of the item.

Save your money and pick a better quality item.

Very easy to use and clean up. Very convenient my kids love them!

This little thing is pretty snazzy. It heats really well if given enough time. We’ve had it for almost a year and it’s still sorta holding up. It cracked on the lid with one drop. We lost the vent plug pretty quick and the little door flaps on top are gone, gone with the wind.

I will purchase another one though as my husband likes having a hot lunch and can’t waste the time it takes waiting in a cafeteria line. I do recommend this if you want to heat your lunch without fighting for a microwave.

II received this portable electric lunch box for Christmas. I love it. I prepare my food before I go to work then two hours before my dinner break I plug it in when I’m ready for dinner and I have a hot meal.

” IT’S GREAT”!! I even cooked a pizza in it. I spread the dough out on the stainless steel pan and after about an hour and a half or two it’s all cooked. It’s like a mini crock pot that you can bring to work.

I highly recommend this product and unfortunately if it broke I would definitely get a new one.

At first I loved this product, Since I was traveling and have Celiac I needed something I could heat up my food in my vehicle or airport. Within a few weeks it stopped working. Contacted the company with no response.

Contacted Walmart twice because of the no response but nothing has been resolved.

This food container was light with beautiful painting. My kid smiled when she saw it and I think the colors are very calm and neutral. The only issue I see is with the very thin outer layer. With a small hit on the floor it will get disfigured, but probably that is why it is also pleasantly light.

Very cute and keeps food warm (not hot) for several hours once decanted. Obviously the mote you open the jar the more heat you let out but nice nonetheless.

I am yet to use the item as I purchased for holiday. But the design is lovely and it’s perfect size for travelling

I bought one of these a while ago. You cant open the lids to get the food out. It simply wont release its seal. I wasted a good picnic because I couldnt open the bloody lid. It was a joke. I do not recommend this item.

If you did manage to pry the lid open I am concerned that the pressure could be risky.

I just tried this food Themos out this morning and I have to say it lives up to its product standards. It has kept my food warm for more than 5 hours and there is a dual storage area for cold items and a foldable utensil.

I would definitely recommend this product to other buyers.

Too small. Uncomfortable to fill with food from microwave, but it is a low cost thermos, so probably the price and quality on the same level.

I bought this brand as it’s supposed to be a large, reputable company. I bought 2 of these and they DO NOT keep food warm, unless it’s majority liquid. It doesn’t say anywhere, on their merchandise or in the leaflet enclosed that you CANT use it to keep dry foods warm.

I did call the company and was told there was nothing they could do, even though the product is not doing what it’s supposed to do. I expected much better customer service for a company that’s this well known and can honestly say that the worst company I have ever dealt with.

If you want something that actually keeps your food warm, Look for another brand, as doesn’t even keep liquids hot for long.

My daughter in Pre-Primary loves having pasta in this for her school lunches. I can’t wait until winter when I can put soups in it. She’ll be eating so well and enjoying it at the same time. She’s a fan of the funky pink colour too!.

I have always bought Thermos branded products because they are good quality and they last a long time. I have two coffee Thermos containers. I bought this as a gift for my niece to take to school or kinder.

It’s double walled so will keep things cool and insulated. This was my purpose for buying it. You can also use it to keep things hot if you wanted to. The colour is really bright and the material is stainless steel and plastic for the lid.

It’s a really great product.

This lunchbox can hold a lot of food. The individual small container inside also enables you to put some side dish or cold dish you like. I don’t want my food to burn my mouth so I normally plug it 30 mins prior to my lunch break.

But there is no button for you to select how long or how strong you would like to warm your food. You plug it and it starts to warm and it’s totally up to you how long you want to warm your food. This one works for me anyway.

Stylish, innovative, money – saving (on lunch) but pricey — in light of other models at half the cost or less. Good quality materials. Does weigh your lunch load down somewhat, but the product is made sturdy so that’s important.

Definitely a conversation-starter. Made to last and follows all electricity guidelines. Shop competitively and save with each use!.

I bought this for my sons school lunchbox so he can take warm food into school for his lunches. We’ve tried lots of different insulated cups/tubs before and none of them performed very well but this one has so far been doing a fab job! It keeps food warm for a good few hours, long enough so that by the time lunch time comes around, his soup/stew/pasta or whatever food is in the flask is at the perfect temperature for him to eat.

Great for kids.

These little insulated jars are great for holding a small amount of something like soup or macaroni and cheese. It’s pretty durable. It is heavy, but that’s what makes the insulation work. I imagine it works to keep cold stuff too but I haven’t tried it.

I tested it with hot water when I received it. 6 hours later the water is still really hot. That’s more than enough time to keep my son’s lunch hot until he eats it. The silicon grip on the lid helps opening it easily for a little kid.

Im happy with it. I read about mold growing on the rubber seal on the lid, so I got a straw brush to wash the rim of the lid and let it air dry completely after every use.

I have used this bag for 3 years in outdoor construction. It’s very tough, always being tossed around in equipment. It’s even been ran over by a pickup before. The frame was deformed a bit but I was able to bend it back into almost original form.

The interior also holds up better than most. The only issues if had is lower compartment zippers can be difficult to open at times, definitely not a deal breaker. Favorite bag/box so far and I’ve tried a lot.

Last year I received a Karl’s lunchbox for Christmas. Thought it was a little bulky but got used to it quick. I work construction and it got filthy. Just throw it in the washing machine and comes out new.

Flash forward a year I left it on the track of the bulldozer and ran it over. To my surprise everything in it was Destroyed but the bag was not! Brought it home through it in the wash and it’s like new again with no damage to the bag! If that isn’t a true testimony to the quality and durability I don’t know what is!!!.

I work in a coal mine and we have been using these bags for 15+ yrs. Working a 12 hrs shift we tend to pack lots of liquids and a big lunch and these bags are great for storage and keeping your items cold with just a few ice packs.

I personally have all 3 styles they’ve offered through the years from the Tiny’s, Karl’s to Louis lunch boxes and now I’m the last to give them up because quality has gone way down through the years.

Everyone else that still has theirs has kept it together with either velcro or bungee straps to duct tape for the holes. Biggest issues is the zippers are terrible. They were never great even when they were metal (3 years use from that bag) but once they went to plastic zippers the quality went straight downhill.

I don’t even get a year out of a bag now. 9 months on this current one. You’ll see in the picture I posted how terrible the fitment is with the bottom zipper going around the corners. It’s a dogfight pushing, pulling and cursing getting that zipper around the corners of the bag.

Usually I just zip it halfway and keep stuff in the bottom I don’t need to get as often so I can just peel up a corner and reach in. It’s like someone was sitting on the bag crushing it while they were sewing the zipper around the bottom.

The mesh side pockets are cheap and any little snag will tear it open. Can’t even begin to estimate how much one lost out of those pockets (duct taped now). The strap wears out and the adjustable buckle just lets the straps slide loose again.

Another spot where duct tape comes in handy to hold it in place. It’s a shame Duluth has never gone to manufacture to get these simple issues fixed. These are long term issues that I’ve read in reviews for years and after only going 9 months with this bag Duluth has lost a long time customer.

The bags have skyrocketed in price while quality has gone drastically down. Casual/occasional use ,might last you longer but for the price you can get better. 2 stars only for the storage.
