10 Best Hospitals For Spinal Surgery (2023 Updated)

This book is an insight into what is generally known as the ‘secret society’ of the medical world. It is well written and gives the reader an opportunity to experience the highs and lows, as well as the cultural experiences of that of a resident surgeon.

Although probably groundbreaking in its time, due to a number of books available now that give this same style of insider medical information, this book is probably overrated in its importance. However it is still a good read for anyone interested in this field.

Genuine 3. 5 stars in my opinion.

Atul provides an understanding of medicine that the general public are lacking, and supports that with true stories. You will find that your view of doctors will change from a view based on social expectations of what a doctor is to one based on inside knowledge what doctors do day to day.

As someone who aspires to become a doctor this is one of the best reads I have had.

Was advertised as good condition. It came with 5+ stickers on the outside, highlighter marks, underlined with pen, and all pages stained. Not that I truly care, but should be advertised more appropriately.

My Mother passed away in March of this year. A friend let me borrow this book, because I had read The Checklist Manifesto by the same author and loved it. This book is now a must-read for my children.

I have passed it on to my Father, and my sister, whose father-in-law is living with them. With up close stories of end of life scenerios and perspective as a doctor, Mr. Gawande explores how we face death, how we try to prolong it with medicine, often at the expense of quality of life, what aging looks like in differing cultures and times, and where families often get it wrong when looking for a place for their elderly parent.

I love this book. It has made me (now 57) consider more thoughtfully how to care for my father and prepare for my own decline should it come slowly. It is an excellent read for a caregiver in any capacity.

The way he explores the role of medicine, hospice care, helping the elderly remain the author of their own lives, and aging/death as part of life is inspiring and convicting. Loved this book. One of the most important books I have read.

I always use WoB for books, this particular purchase was 3 of the same title for Christmas presents. 2 were of the usual great quality I’ve come to expect. The third was a disappointing quality despite me being vigilant on the description it had online.

I haven’t bothered contacting WoB, I’m happy to be contributing to a more reusable ideology.

The book very accurately describes many of the issues faced by young and old alike when facing their own mortality or that of a loved one. It is written in simple terms that are easy to understand. The content is difficult to read emotionally, especially for anyone who has faced these issues, but all of us need to confront end-of-life decisions.

I would highly recommend this book.

great for learning physical examination

Excellent source book

I’ve been experiencing hip and leg pain from sciatica for around 5 years. It was either go to work part time or do things around the house, not both. So I finally got a spinal x-ray from my ***, got referred to an orthopedist, got an MRI, and was diagnosed with spinal arthritis and stenosis and compression of the discs.

Fortunately no herination yet. The ortho wanted me to buy their brace for over $1,000. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I haven’t reached my deductible yet. I would have had to pay out of pocket. Welcome to the USA.

So I looked around and found this thing for $65. It looked the same and claims to do what I needed, so I bought it. After TWO DAYS, I noticed that my pain was reduced to 10 or 20% depending on the day.

After a few weeks of using this at work, and most of the time around the house, I went to an amusement and water park without it. I climbed the stairs to the water slides four times and walked around for hours.

I was tired from advanced age (56, haha) way before my leg hurt, but I don’t recommend anyone else give it a test like that. I was annoyed that the pulley handles were too far forward to give me the tightness I wanted, but I realized I was doing it wrong.

(pics!!) You need to lay the brace out and undo the handles and THEN pull the two sides of the corset AWAY FROM each other. Then stick the handles back on. When I did this, they ended up on my sides, then I had all kinds of slack to pull the handles all the way to the front again and make it tight.

These braces are lifesavers! They are absolutely no joke. The only reqson I was able to return to work was because of the use of these braces. There is nothing like them. I immediately had my father try it out and he ordered one, too.

You WILL feel the benefits immediately after putting it on. I won’t leave home without it!.

The T-L brace has now been worn 10 days during awake hours. After wearing all day, my ribs will hurts a little along with my lower, sacral area, especially after vacuuming. I now have very little pain when arising in the morning.

I resprained a T-12 compression fx on 6-3-22.

I have been suffering from severe back pain for 6years. In February 2018 I couldn’t take it anymore any decided to do some examinations to know what was really happening. The results didn’t come as a surprise though I was stressed.

The CT scan any MRI indicated that I had L5-S1 disk prolapse. At the same time my brother was in the hospital having undergone a surgery for the same. My sister and my mom where also diagnosed with the same more than 10years ago and have been managing their pain with strong painkillers and physio.

So I knew it’s all in the family. My main stress was that I am an international student doing Bachelor’s in Nursing in Australia. I had to defer my studies for one year and go back to my home country for treatment as the neurosurgeon had said I might need to undergo surgery.

In my country I underwent physiotherapy any hydrotherapy 5days a week. Mmmh. Which I know it’s not right. I was so determined to get well and go back to Australia to continue with my studies. After 4 months I came back to Australia.

As I was doing my research on how to manage back pain, I came across Dr. Sarno’s work. i listened to his lectures, read reviews on his books from people who have benefited any ordered his book online.

To be honest it has really helped me. Now I knowthe pain was due to TMS. I am back to my normal life, 90% of the pain is gone, I go to the gym, can sit any stand for a longer time unlike before. I wanted to change my career from nursing but now I happy on February I will be going back to my course.

I called my sister any explained to her about the book any as I am writing my friend is on her way to Kenya any I bought her this saving book to take to my sister. Last thing is that Dr. Sarno did a research about 20years ago in Kenya and indicated that TMS is not common in African countries.

I come from Kenya and now there are so many people with this condition just that it’s not known. This book is worth buying.

Anyone whose got back pain or severe back pain and consultants have no reason why that is should buy this book. After reading and understanding this book then I’m sure there pain will disappear. Very compelling and interesting reading.

A must if you’re in pain.

Dr Sarno is a genius. If you have any pains in your back, legs, neck, you must read this book. Statistics show that your bulging discs and compressed spine are NOT causing the pain. We all swallow lots of aggressions and surpass our anger and fear.

Just knowing this convinced me and my back pain if 10 weeks disappeared! Since reading it the first time in 1996, I have had no back pain, and I also have bot had a serious cold for the past 20 years! I did not call in sick once since 1997! Please read this book!!!.

We often instill in our own minds, because someone deems themselves as in expert in a particular field, he or she knows everything. Butler claims this is not so and to be wary of all information making sure to investigate all information given.

Butler advocates detoxification of the body and to eliminate any issue causing substances from ingestion. He feels this first step will clear and make way for rejuvenation and restoration of the body to its natural healthy state.

He feels that the immune system must be in optimal working condition to maintain a balance. He further addresses the importance of nutrition, supplements, water, exercise, relaxation, meditation, and laughter.

Combining all aspects of health generating modalities sustains optimum health. Personally, I’m on the same page as Dr. Rashid A. Butler. My own experiences of detoxification and maintenance of a healthy body are in line with his theories and suggestions.

I feel that Butler has all aspects of optimum wellness covered in this book and I encourage others to consider reading what he has to say. Overall I believe this book is fantastically written and i recommend it to anyone who is interested in keeping healthy.

This is the book I recommend to EVERYONE interested in health. Written by a medical doctor who had to grapple with the limitations of the mainstream medical community when his son was diagnosed with autism after being vaccinated.

His story is compelling and well written, including the fascinating ways his patients have impacted his knowledge about the ways and means of true healing. He obviously has done extensive research into what he’s offering here.

he needed to in order to save his son (which he does). This is the most complete offering on how to maintain your health that I’ve ever seen. and that it’s coming from a medical doctor, makes his statements about the shortsightedness of mainstream medicine even more chilling.

He doesn’t pussyfoot around but clearly and compellingly states what’s wrong with our current medical system. AND he offers a book owners forum where you can find information and links to the newest information.
