Best Horse Shampoo For Humans (2024 Updated)

Most cream conditioner say leave in but they get gummy and collect dirt over time. 2 weeks ago washed 4 manes and tails. The wind picked up so by the time conditioner came I was over getting wet and decided to leave the conditioner in.

Their tails are still tangle free and shiny. The dust just brushes right out. Absolutely the best I have found!!!.

I purchased the foaming shampoo with one of my recent orders and got a sample size bottle of this shampoo to try in my package. Today was the first warm day we’ve had in a while so it was a perfect time to try out the new grooming products! I really like the consistency of this shampoo.

I used about a quarter’s size worth of shampoo to do all of his body (a big bodied 17H) as it lather’s very nicely! I let it sit on for a few minutes before rinsing off and followed with the Ultra Cruz Equine conditioner I had purchased.

I was really pleased with the results, soft, shiny hair with a pleasant scent that wasn’t over powering at all. I feel like this shampoo and the ultra cruz line of grooming products, are right up there with some of the best, top of the line products from other brands that I have used, but these are offered at a fraction of the price of those other brands.

Really happy and definitely see myself purchasing a larger bottle of this to keep on hand in the future.

I have used this product for the last couple years. I absolutely love it. Gets the horses clean while making the shiny and oh so soft! I get compliments on how good the horses look at shows. This is my go to favorite.

I’d never used a foaming shampoo, and though had heard people rave about them, I thought “of course, they want to justify why they spend that kind of money” LOL Then I read “no scrubbing necessary, just let the shampoo sit” and I thought “yeah, for the already clean horse but WE have red clay”.

But holy cow. I wish I’d taken before/after pictures but honestly, I didn’t think of it, and wouldn’t have believed I’d need them. The near perma-stain pink socks were no longer pink! Not quite white because ALL I did was let the suds slide over the legs and sit for about 30 seconds.

Literally, that’s about all the time it had before I washed it off. The next wash I scrubbed just a little, and got even whiter. I can only imagine if I put real effort into those white socks! The smell is AMAZING.

Amazing. Not fruity or sickly sweet, not even just “clean”, but GOOD. And that 30 seconds of sitting on the horse made his coat soft and silky without any slick residue. I’d do some scrubbing down to the skin for a super clean show-ready horse, but this was amazing at getting out most of the ground-in red clay that’s been accumulating all Summer Highly recommend, and when my regular shampoo runs out, I will be ordering more.

Or maybe beforehand ;).

I’ve been using this original Mane n’ Tail shampoo and conditioner for years now. They come in large bottles that lasts for weeks on end, and I use quite a bit of the products each time. The reason I love this specific combo is because I have sensitive skin/dry hair, and it has worked great for me.

The only downside is the shampoo has been leaving my hair tangly since I had it bleached (before I only used the conditioner once a week), but the upside is the conditioner takes the tangles right out.

I would recommend doing a quick rinse for the conditioner, aiming to leave some in as it can also be used as a leave-in conditioner. In doing this, the scent is definitely something I notice throughout the day, but smells ever so mild and fresh that I hardly notice.

It is really the best scent if you are looking for something noticeable but not overpowering whatsoever. I have thin hair, and the conditioner does not leave any film and does not weigh my hair down.

I give 4. 25 stars for the combination of the shampoo/conditioner, as the shampoo is great in almost every way, but does not seem to have many moisturizing properties, (3. 5 stars), but the conditioner balances everything out and is the best I have ever used (5 stars).

Side note: My hair grows pretty fast. I could give mane n’ tail credit for this, but it could be for a number of reasons not related as I have been using this product for a long time.

I used to use this brand shampoo since I was a preteen and now I am almost half a century years young. I decided to try this again. When this shampoo arrived in the package, it was open and liquid spilled inside causing a mess and lost shampoo liquid.

I’m surprised that the item was not safely packaged especially for a liquid item. The smell is ok. I’m finally going to try this shampoo even though I didn’t get a full bottle. My last remark was not approved so hopefully this one is.

I’ve waited to return this but my ride fell through and so I’ll try to see if does anything to my hair like it used to. Might update my comment later. I recommend this shampoo from years ago. We’ll see what happens when I use.

Growing up with 5 sisters 1 brother in the house and a a sisters very religious grandma that believed a woman should have long hair not cut it, she would always say a woman’s hair is her glory so for for her and us girls from toddler size she always bought Mane and Tail shampoo and Conditionet she believed it would help our hair grow and make it stronger.

This shampoo smells great it lathers really well and lasts a long time I loved the way it made my hair feel really good and looked very healthy and my hair abd my sisters was always very long and thick.

So was my grandma’s and my mom’s and my mom’s still is. If we trimmed the back of our hair it always growled back fast and thick. I remember I git hit in the head with glass bottle had ti have stitches my hair was past my butt they had to cut where they needed to stitch so we had to even my hair out so we had to cut it up to my shoulders and 6 months later it had grown back so fast.

Me, mom, and sisters all still have fast growing hair. I reccomend for anyone to try this shampoo to help hair grow longer and faster. I can’t get picture of my hair top to bottom without someone helping its just to long but I tried! I will purchase this and start using again.

I discovered this product last year and I’ve been using it for almost a year now. I was skeptical at first because the reviews that I have read where inconsistent but I guess it really won’t work the same in different hair types and routines.

It’s a bit pricey compared to the local shampoo brands here but I stick to this brand because I think it’s the best that I have used so far. First of all, I have thinning hair and my hair is really brittle and I used to have VERY BAD hairfall days before using Mane ‘N Tail.

My hair will be all over my place and I even started to panic because it didn’t look normal and it is NOT. This product claims to make the hair grow faster, stronger and thicker and it really does! But I don’t use it everyday just 2-3 or 3-4 times a week depending on how dirty my scalp is.

This product has a strong formula probably because it is origk formulated for horse hair and it cleanses your scalp so much it can make it feel dry and very unmoisturized so it’s best to use with the Mane ‘N Tail Original conditioner.

They’re like spoon and fork. The conditioner is so good and makes my hair really soft. The scent is of the shampoo is really nice, no special fragrances, just a natural, generic nice scent but the scent of the conditioner isn’t as good.

It smells like chemical but it doesn’t make the hair stink so don’t worry. This product also claims to be color-treated hair friendly but hmm, not really. I have been dyeing and bleaching my hair and it strips off the hair color so much.

I’ve only managed to lessen the washing out by using a hair mask which will I be reviewing next. (You all better check that out that product is my holy grail it IS so good!) All in all, this is a good product if used correctly and with moderation because its strong formula might damage your hair if used more than needed.

This is probably a common product in the US but in asian countries, it isn’t so if you are an asian girl or a westerner but haven’t tried this out yet, this review is for you! xo.

I’ve been searching for a good sulfate free shampoo and conditioner and discovered that the ones that make my hair soft and shiny end up making my scalp greasy and the ones that cleanse my scalp well make my hair dry and brittle.

This shampoo and conditioner makes my hair soft, shiny cleanses my scalp well. It has a nice light smell, not too fragrant and the price is decent for the amount you get in the bottle. Only complaint I have is that it is a little on the drier side as sometimes my ends tangle but it is not a huge problem for me.

Also- I do have straight hair and didn’t realize this was meant for textured or curly hair and I think this may be too dry for those with that hair type.

I first learned of Ultra Cruz last year at the Breeders Challenge when the shampoo/conditioner was provided for the contestants. The barn near the wash bays smelled so good. I use the shampoo and conditioner daily.

There is not one product that I have tried and I don’t just love. I would recomment these products to anyone.

I have tried so many products to detangle and smooth my horses mane and tail. Santa Cruz has developed a gel that is by far the best product I have ever tried. You use the smallest amount and it lasts for days.

Best of all, Dirt doesn’t stick and build up. And boy, it adds a beautiful shine to the hair. 100% recommend this product.

This shampoo is very nice. I bought it with a good price, but the quality of it is very good. My hair feels very soft after using it, and it does not make my hair dry. I use it everyday now and it does its job.

Overall, it is a very nice buy and highly recommend!.

I have fine hair that I bleach professionally, I also dye it purple occassionally and go swimming often – so it is dry and in need of a good shampoo and conditioner. And this is it! Absolutely wonderful to use, lathers beautifully and I feel that it strenghtens my hair and gives it a lot of moisture.

I had high hopes for this miracle shampoo and conditioner, that maybe the magic of the horse oil would “mend” my damaged ends and give my hair an awesome silkiness like no other! For the Shampoo part of this review I’d say it was alright, even though it lathered well I had some difficulty spreading the lather throughout my scalp and hair.

It’s scent was alright as well nothing like a heavy perfume or medicine like just alright Like my review of the conditioner it wasn’t peculiarity special or superior in any way in my experience. One thing I did like was that my hair seemed to dry a bit faster and a little smoother.

Sometimes awesome products don’t work for everyone, Sadly I was one of them. I probably won’t purchase this product again but I will try to finish what is left of the generously sized 600 ML bottle.

This shampoo is absolutely the “Best of the Best” for whitening!! I have a horse business, and have to get my horses looking their best for pictures, and their is noting better on the market. Trust me, I have tried them all, and this is the only one that I will purchase.

This will brighten your whites like nothing else out there! Sometimes I will have to use it twice, on a really stained horse, but in the end, they look amazing. Only downside is, I usually have purple fingernails all summer long.

but boy do I have pretty horses!! Used to be able to get this in the large bottle, but for some reason, State Line only carries the small now. hint, hint!!.

This stuff is awesome. I have a grey mare who loves to roll. I washed her first thoroughly with dish soap and then used this on her and left it on for about 10 minutes. She was beautiful! She was super white and gleamed in the sunlight, which is hard for grey mares to do.

Be careful though not to leave it on for longer than the recommended time because it will lose it’s color safeness. I left one side on and it turned some of her grey slightly brownish.

I have used this for years. Unfortunately, the gelding I have now gets urine and leather stains that do not come out unless I shave him. This product helps lighten but does not get the stains out like it did on my previous paint.

I’m hoping this works on my two horses, today I was impressed- very hot and humid evening and I hosed down my guys before turnout. The horse flies were all over them as I knew would be the case. I took my bottle of ultra Cruz and sprayed each one real good all over and under.

The horseflies left. I checked on my way out and saw them eating in the pasture with only an occasional tail swishing and no stomping or head throwing from the flies. They were not being bothered by the horseflies and they were still damp from the hosing.

This is great if it works this well as I like to rinse them in the evening after a hot sweaty day!.

I absolutely love this coat spray! It smells similar to the normal shampoo, a nice light scent, and it WORKS. I have used countless different types of coat sprays over the years. I have a grey who lives outside 24/7 and nothing has ever been able to get him this clean, shiny, and soft, and keep him that way.

Usually by a day or two after I use a coat spray, his tail will end up being dirty and I’ll have to use more product. I bathed him almost a week ago and no dirt has stuck on his tail yet, it’s super soft, and it did not irritate his dock.

He has rolled in dirt and gotten rained on and it was easily brushed off. I highly recommend this. Since you don’t have to reapply every day, it will last a long time, too!.

I really like the fly spray it lasts all day and have had no issues at all. We plan to purchase in bulk and keep using it. BUT, need to work on the sprayers. The straw in the large spray is to long so when you get half way down it stops working, we cut it off to be just about a 1/2″ from the bottom and we were back in business.

I bought the small sprayer for trips but the sprayer is not durable and broke in the first five minutes. I poured it into the large sprayer so we didn’t loose any product but disappointed that it can not be used for its purchase.

I repurchased this shampoo after having used it. Lathers great, the tea tree scent is wonderful, removes deep layer dirt and grime from rolling, and soothes the skin. I use this shampoo mainly for spring bathing and if I find skin irritation later in warm season.

It’s a good idea to massage shampoo in and rinse thoroughly as per directions. Highly recommend.

Great for sensitive skin. Seemed to help keep ticks away. Hair was soft and lustrous. Also have spray. Helps sensitive skin as well. Not any rubbing after like there was before.

I have tried many other brands of Shampoo but nothing compares to this! After one bath my horses coat & mane was so incredibly soft I thought there was no way. Even several days later after the bath & being turned out her hair was still very soft.

I get so many compliments on how soft her coat is & how shiny it is.

I personally like this conditioner and would recommend it. However!! I would not buy from a 3rd party retailer again. My walmart has been out of stock for quite some time and I was running low on stock so I decided to order this set from third party seller.

The smell of the conditioner smelled a bit off too me. Not like the clean fresh scent I usually have with this same conditioner that Ive bought directly through walmart. My hair did not feel as smooth as it usually does when I used the “third party” product.

I’ve used this conditioner numerous times and have had no problems when purchasing directly through the store. I will just give what I ordered from the third party away and Ill repurchase once they have it back in stock IN THE STORE.

Again, I highly recommend the conditioner IF purchased directly through store. Sadly, I would not recommend purchasing through third party retailers. As for the shampoo, I cant speak much for it. I mainly bought it for the conditioner.

I did use it, but did not like its scent at all too.

Stripped part of color right out of hair! So I had my hair professionally colored a dark brown that hombre into blue. I know ‘designer’ colors tend to fade faster but this was too quick. The dark brown held really well but the blue was stripped almost completely out after about 5 washings! I used cool water like my hairdresser said and everything.

I also know it was the shampoo because when I got my hair wet no cor came out until the shampoo hit it. If you aren’t doing a designer color I would semi recommending recommending this shampoo. For my hair it didn’t feel like it didn’t clean well but I have a lot of thick hair.

Everyone’s hair is different so maybe with someone with finer hair or less hair it might work better.

Really like this shampoo and conditioner. This will be my second time ordering them. I ran out of my super expensive brand and I thought why not? I love how clean my scalp feels and how manageable my hair is.

The smell is light not over powering. The shampoo lathers really nicely, the conditioner isn’t thick so it doesn’t weigh my hair down. I wash my hair twice a week, I follow the shampoo and conditioner with mane and tail strengthening spray.

I can even let my hair air dry without having a frizzy mess! I recently went to my stylist for highlights and a trim and she actually said to me “wow your hair feels super healthy!’ I’ll continue to use!.

I’m a shampoo snob and usually use horse color-specific shampoos. I currently have 5 different colors of horses and wanted one that worked for everyone. This is the one! It made my horses shiny shiny.

Like honestly blinding to look at in the sun. I even tried it on my grimey German Shepherd and he was glistening. I highly recommend if your pony needs an extra little sparkle that won’t dry out his coat.

I use this on my dog for her long hair. Not fur. It helps in moisturizing, detangling longer areas, and the scent is a subtle and pleasant fruity like not overpowering. I’m still not sure about all the ingredients.

First let me say I didn’t pay for the first bottle I got as I won a Twitter giveaway. However, this has quickly become my favorite shampoo. Not only does it leave, both my chestnut and my paint shiny, but it seems to repel dirt much longer on my paint who love to bath himself in mud and muck.

I use this medicated shampoo on my shire horse when she has sores caused by mites in her feathers.

Iv had this previously for another horse and it works wonders! I would highly recommend this product
