20 Best Home Remedies For Roaches (2023 Updated)

As the weather has begun to cool I have begun seeing some American roaches on my porch. I decided to give Mighty Mint a try to detour them. I was very intrigued by the product being natural and eco friendly, as I prefer this to having to put toxic chemicals in an area my kids play.

The smell is very strong. When it arrived in the mail I could smell it before even opening the box. The smell is pleasant though, just like mint oil, so I wasn’t put off by this at all. My kids said it smelled nice, like toothpaste, so I went ahead and sprayed down the area I had seen the roaches.

Unfortunately, while I did not see many roaches in the area, we were suddenly overwhelmed by house flies. The day after spraying it I killed more than 20 flies in that area before just giving up and going inside.

A few days after spraying it they were finally gone, but I had taken the hose to the area and washed it down. I also accidentally had some of the spray go on to my window and it left a horrible thick white film that was challenging to remove so use caution where you spray this product as it could mark.

If it was roaches in my home, I might be inclined to try this product again based on it being a natural choice, but it definitely was not a good choice for using on a porch.

This cockroach peppermint spray I’m not sure of so I’ll just tell you my experience. I saw a trail of ants in the pantry and i was really upset because i didn’t want to spray into the pantry whatever chemical i had on hand.

All over my food. So i remembered that i had the peppermint spray and i took it out and sprayed it at the ants. It smelled really good like fresh peppermint and all the ants immediately died. I sprayed it around the area and told my kids to stop putting back food in that area that was opened such as chips or cereal.

Of course they forgot and about 3 weeks later they did it again and ants returned to Invade. I just sprayed it again at the ants and they all died instantly. I’m pretty happy At the instant kill results but I’m not sure if the spray prevents them Because first of all leaving unopened food out is literally bait and i can’t see any pest resisting that.

So i have no idea about that issue. I did not think it would kill the ants but it was literally instant death so that was unexpected. I just have not seen a roach (thank goodness) to have to spray it at and i really don’t want to have to experience that.

The spray bottle has an adjustable nozzle so you can turn the spray to stream or spray which is really great.

I have been dealing with a roach situation since moving into my new townhome in Houston. Houston apparently is known for having roach infestation (which I was not aware of). Anyways since June we have tried multiple pest control treatments from professionals from sprays, to multiple diggers, to even having them dust.

We’ve also tried bait motels, avion gel bait, boric acid, DE. Though some where effective at slowing them down, nothing rid the German roach infestation completely. It was to the point where they were crawling by the numbers in the kitchen, and stair well.

My mom told me to use bengal (guess it an old school thing) and I decided to get the gold because I saw it sterilized them. We sprayed just behind and in crevices at first and saw a difference in just a week or two.

After I realized it was doing the job, I sprayed in my cabinets, behind stove, under the cabinet ledges, window sills, door entry points, stairs and base boards, sinks and any nail holes that weren’t being used.

It took about a week for multiple roaches to turn to one or two a week. 21 days later and I haven’t seen anything living and very few dead. Maybe 1 dead a week and all of which are young roaches. Best product you’ll buy.

Better than professional pest control, it’s a dry spray which is a plus and doesn’t leave an odor. I promise you it will get the job done.

I saw 2 roaches in my vehicle over by a few weeks, so emptied it completely and inspected and cleaned every accessible surface. I didn’t find any dead roaches or signs of extreme infestation. I then sprayed Bengal Gold in every crevice, expecting to see something come out.

Nothing. Was thrilled thinking maybe there isn’t a major problem. Then noticed these little roaches actually increasing after I sprayed, so I sprayed again 2 days later. I still have these little bugs everywhere and understand that this new formula no longer uses the same growth inhibitor.

Whatever is going on here, I’m not getting the same results as other reviewers and will exhaust the remaining product when spraying a 3rd time. Very expensive for poor results.

Yes it brings them out but ain’t seen not one roach die from it. In fact I spray some on a wall watch them walk right through it and keep it moving there is no direct contact kill and no behind the scene kills either cause I watched them go right back to the area the crawled out of and back again.

sad all these great reviews seem fake. They don’t come out to die they just come out cause you disturb their nest or whatever. You are going to need something else if you want to do more than drive them out cause even raid if you spray and disturb them will make them come out.

It’s just that raid kills and kills on contact. This product is garbage. And now it seems all the raid is gone just to make you buy what’s left and available, which is the products that aren’t selling as great or at all.

That’s how I ended up with this expensive “I make bugs come out so you can see I ain’t killed them” spray smh. One person said “they come out and die johnny on the spot”. Unless johnyy was stomping them or something these roaches ain’t dropping and it’s sad and pathetic to be manipulated into not only spending more money but more money on a worthless product.

Got roaches coming out everywhere but they just come out to migrate somewhere else til they think they can go back to the home you disturbed. They not even twitching. sad smh.

Works great. Had roaches in apartment always in one cabinet large ones and babies. Looked up best way to get rid of them. Trust me – Do This. It works!!!!1. Mix equal parts sugar, boric acid, flour2.

Add a little water to make a dough (The sugar attracts them, the boric acid kills them, the flour to make dough balls)3. Make dough balls. Let dry some & stiffen. 4. Place balls wherever you’ve seen roaches.

Balls stick in corners of cabinets, cracks, molding, back of fridge, anywhere out of sight that roaches would go. Balls pack and harden in place. OMG works awesome!!! Saw 1 roach next day. Havent seen one in over a week.

This is a great product to kill ants and other insects. Make bait, and they eat it, then take it back to the nest, and kill the colony. Using to get rid of ants, and wasps. Research it. The only dislike I have is Dollar General, you seriously need to train your shipping folks.

They literally put all 3 bottles in a box without wrapping them, and 2 of the three were uncapped, and spilt all inside the box, and onto my other items. This is boric acid! No plastic seals even on the bottles.

You can do much better, than this! At least wrap them, in bubble wrap! Other than that I live this Product. I wish your stores kept it stocked.

I had gotten similar boric acid powder before and not sure if it is this brand or the seller ripped me off. This bottle only arrive with 1/3 of the container full even shaken to loosen it up. There was powder and residue inside the packaging as if it had spilled in transit.

Other brands of boric acid I have bought were always at least 3/4 full. Secondly, this stuff just does not seem to work, at all. Again, not sure if it was the seller ripoff or the brand. Next time I will buy some in store and it won’t be this brand.

YOU GUYS NEEEEDDDDD THIS!!!! If you have a roach problem, no matter how bad, YOU NEED THIS!!! I was skeptical that this wasn’t going to work because we’ve tried everything but nothing was working! The raid spray works good but only kills on contact, which means you have to go finding their hiding spot which is hard sometimes because they like to hide in the little cracks! We have been renting house for over a year, when we first moved in we noticed couple little roaches and we just spayed them with raid and didn’t think anything about it as it was summer time and thought they’re just getting in because of the heat.

NOPE, were we wrong there were more and more showing up! We did a deep cleaning, taking everything out of the cabinets, spraying the cracks with raid, thought we found their hiding spot as we found a lot of roaches in that spot and sprayed them all, but they were stilling coming out from somewhere else! It got so severe that we thought nothing else was possible, we even had a pest control guy coming every month to spray but that wasn’t working also! We then heard about this gel and let me tell you!!!!!! IT WORKS!!!! I only used one tube around our whole house, and 98% of the roaches are gone!! its been almost a month now since we’ve used just one tube and we rarely see any roaches anymore.

This stuff is AMAZING! We had a horrible roach problem and nothing seemed to be working. A friend gave us a tube of Advion and within a week our roach infestation was no longer there. We used an entire tube and placed the killer gel along the base boards and corners of our kitchen and restroom (where the roaches were mostly hanging out).

I was really hopeful when purchasing this roach killer product after reading so many great things people had to say about it, but then after setting up 10 bait trays n kitchen, 1 leading to kit and 1 in bath, I am beyond disappointed/ frustrated and concerned that I have not seen a single roach dead in any size or even any get into the product.

I have been watching and waiting for the product to work over a month now and only seeing and hearing the roach population expand and increase in their traffic all over as they just go right past or right around the bait stations and constantly search for any other items to crunch on, especially if there is any paper products near their access! I’m so completely baffled/ confused at how well the product does not work that I do not have enough words to express my disbelief and anger that the product seems to have only made my many problems worse now and it’s overwhelming to deal with amidst all else that’s disastrous and grieving in this time.

Maybe the box I purchased was a bad batch or something, but I certainly can’t recommend someone else trying it and possibly having to end up as disappointed as I am over it. I do not have money or time to throw away on useless products and I would not want to if I did.

By trying out the product, with no useful results at all, I have increased the cost to get rid of the problems exponentially this entire duration. It would be wonderful if the company could send me a product that works to take care of some of the problems already caused and to keep further ones from happening, because I would love to see these nasty roaches eliminated out of my life just as I had expected while reading the box packaging.

If anyone tries this bait and it doesn’t work like mine, please don’t let yourself get as dismayed and destroyed as I am over this!.

Cleared an old house of roaches. Ya have to follow directions and not allow it to get wet as it will harden and not be effective. Also do not use sprays over it as again it will not stay in the powder state.

Dry powder will remain effective for years providing it doesn’t get wet. For some reason this works where regular boric acid powder is not as effective. perhaps because it’s finer and sticks to the roaches better which they carry back to their nests.

It takes a while to see results, after a few weeks you’ll start to find whiteish roaches running around and dead.

Love this product, fleas are attracted to my boyfriend he could be on a roof working a flea would be on him, we had bought this because I remember my grandma using it. I sprinkled it on all the carpeted areas,couches,etc (while my dog was outside) then I vacuumed it up and he didn’t get bit by a flea again.

I bought this to rid my home of roaches and Ants. I’ll say it did get rid of the ants sorta. But for the roaches no. I have seen 7 different types here. It may kill one type but not the other. Do not waste your money.

I used mostly on cracks and definitely see reduced number of bugs and even frogs since with all the rain the frogs were coming more. I haven’t found any roaches dead nor alive so I’m assuming this has also helped with that.

I have a dog and he has not really been bothered by it and loved that this was odorless so it doesn’t bother us when coming in or out of the house. The product is not very big so unfortunately used up the whole bag but if the results continue I’ll be looking for this in stores.

Compared to other sprays I’ve used for bug killers I feel like this one actually lasted longer and was able to get the whole house. Great product!.

I live in a three story apartment building and I’ve seen two cockroaches in a month. I also have ants in the weirdest places like the bathroom. There isn’t anything in there for them, but I had a small container of sugar in my cupboard I seldom ever use and I saw a line of ants going into the cupboard.

Well they got into the container so I sprayed, but I have COPD and have to be careful breathing around that stuff. I bought this Harris powder and after two weeks I didn’t see any bugs. I live in an apartment where neighbors share their infestations with others. I’ve struggled with maintaining a roach-free home for a while. I would bomb regularly (major inconvenience) and there would regularly be a multitude of survivors.

I began seeing them in my electronics so started searching online for a better solution and noticed several recommendations for Apex gel bait. I purchased one tube, laid out about an ounce in total all around my Pc’s, consoles and TV’s, and within I’d say a week, they were gone.

I moved into my duplex a couple years ago and into a rather pest free home albeit a spider here or there. I’m a clean freak so I’ve never dealt with pests let alone an infestation. No matter how neat and clean I am I was not ready for the roach infestation I’ve had to endure these past months.

When it was brand new, it was great because it pours out of the cap nicely which enabled me to line the powder the way I want to. After awhile, it caked up. It no longer pours out. Stuck. Useless. I have to spoon it out now to put it where I want to but it’s not powdery anymore.

Very very cakey. As if it’s moist. I stored it in a dry place so I don’t know why it’s doing that. Not happy.

Worked very well. After placing in the attic and crawl space and under sinks, I saw numerous small dead roaches. I am hopeful that I got them before they became a problem. I had been using a spray quarterly outside, but somehow these little ones got inside.

I will treat those areas again soon. My only complaint is that the powder is clumpy. I recommend purchasing an additional tool to disburse the powder.

We have both pets and children, and have a yard with mature trees. We get pests. We also have a lot of wildlife. The wildlife in our yard includes: rabbits, turkeys, deer, feral cats, chipmunks, squirrels, several species of birds, snakes, a groundhog, and armadillos (which can carry leprosy–wish we didn’t have them around).

I am for natural products that keep pests away, but keep kids, pets, and wanted yard fauna safe. With my first impressions, I do recommend this product. It will take time to see how effective this is, but that should only be a few weeks.

Awesome product. Saw evidence of product working by the next day after application. I live in an apartment and roaches always seems to be a problem even when they have pest control come in to spray. However, you’ll still see roaches dying even 2 weeks after application.

I have seen them feast on this stuff like it’s a buffet. Remember if you decide to purchase this product to only put out dime size of it out in spots where you see the roaches. I made the mistake of not doing that the first night I put it out.

I originally put it out like in lines. Roaches are only attracted to it if you put it out about the shape of a dime. I have put it not only in my kitchen cabinets, but also on the hinges of the cabinets.

Also, I have put a dot of it on index cards and put them on the kitchen counters and it works. All I have to say is if you’ve tried just about everything like I have then invest in one of these just to see if it works.

You might get surprised when you see roaches flipped up kicking and dying.

I bought this to get rid of silverfish under my deck post caps. It seemed to attract them during the first couple of days, but after day 6, I found only two baby silverfish under 22 caps!! Before, I would find 5 to 25 under EVERY cap.

I had a VERY BAD cockroach problem. This product appears to be working well. It is easy to use. After placing the gel I wiped the tip with a tissue and then replaced the cap with no mess. I had a cat that used to eat cockroaches so it would not have been suitable to use when she was alive.

I purchased a packet of home brewing bottle caps to place the gel in and placed them at intervals on the floor and bench in my kitchen and bathroom and placed one on the floor at each side of all of my doorways, including the front and back doors.

I have 3 cavity sliding doors (which are usually left open) and placed gel directly onto the surface. I was very surprised at how well the cockroaches were attracted to the bait and have found at least 12 dying or dead cockroaches in the house.

The amount of gel that has been eaten and replaced would indicate that other cockroaches have eaten the gel. It has been nice to go into the kitchen at night time and turn on the light and not see huge cockroaches scurrying away! Getting rid of them has been easy.

Now I’ve got to get rid of the mess they’ve been making.

I moved into place that had very old fridge; once i brought life into place, roaches wanted to have dinner daily. I bought tablets, traps and powder and I had in first month 2 that were covered like a carpet.

I used Roach Prufe about 20 years ago and current was in need of it. I applied it around my house and roaches and ants are gone. Don’t waste your money on anything else. This stuff works and you can’t beat the price.

I sprinkled some in several inconspicuous places only once. It took about a week and a half. I haven’t seen even a baby roach on or around my desk since (hardest to get rid of it appeared). Gets a big thumbs up from me.

Saw two roaches and none after put this out. Like that there is no poisonous chemicals
