Best Home Remedies For Dandruff (2024 Updated)

I have natural hair and really bad dandruff but now since using StopItt my dandruff has minimized. I ordered this off of amazon for about $12. 00 but it came in a pack of 6 I believe (I dont really remember because I ordered it so long ago, but I do remember that it was cheap) the only down side about this product is that it’s so thick and white so it turns your hair white but after it’s all absorbed in it doesn’t weigh your hair down other than that I love it.

My scalp loves it as well.

Arrived much faster than expected. Works wonders on the hair. No flaking for DAYS after it was applied. Seems to work even after the next washing. Wifey LOVES it. Would buy this again from Pharmapacks in a heartbeat.

I’ve been using this shampoo for over 3 years now, so I thought I’d leave a review with my extensive experience using it. First of all, this shampoo completely clears up my dandruff (itchiness/flakiness etc.

), which after all, is the point, right? Sometimes I will run out and use my partners shampoo (also cruelty free, no SLS/parabens etc. ), which is always a mistake as the dandruff always comes back almost immediately.

But again, as soon as I’m back on the Jason train, it disappears! When I initially started using it, it took around 1 month for it to take effect and clear up my dandruff. 1 month for me is around 8-10 washes (2 per week).

I had already been using natural shampoo for years so I didn’t get any of the ‘greasiness’ that some other people have complained about getting (which you will always get initially if this is your first time trying natural shampoo!!).

The only thing I don’t like about this shampoo is that is doesn’t lather all that well. It’s pretty thick and can be difficult to spread around your hair, I often find myself using double the amount to coat my full head (and I only have mid-length hair, I can’t imagine if it was long!).

In saying that, once it’s on there and I’ve re-wet it a couple of times, it still does a good job at cleaning my hair. I most often get away with only washing it once a week, without it getting to greasy the day before I wash it, so I don’t deal with the thickness problem too much.

To summarise: 1. If this is your first time using natural shampoo, your hair will be greasier than normal to begin with. Your hair will be used to getting all of its natural oils stripped from it, whereas natural shampoo gently cleans your hair, and leaves you natural oils alone.

Persist with it and I guarantee soon enough, you’ll be able to go days without washing your hair and still have it feeling fresh and healthy. 2. This shampoo really does work. I struggled with chronic dandruff for so long and tried almost everything to alleviate it, I would never go without this now.

A miracle worker? Most definitely.

The conditioner is great. The picture should only show one bottle. I understand why they did it with the pictures showing all the details you wouldn’t be able to see if the bottle faced you directly.

I’ll be buying a second bottle because it definitely works. Especially in this weather. Less scratching and itching which causes less frizzy hair in this heat. lathering up with this conditioner you can tell it has some type of oil in it that calms your locks and feels like you are putting a protective layer on them.

I have bad dandruff and a very itchy scalp. The shampoos I’ve used smell terrible, leaving my hair smelling like tar. This dandruff shampoo smells so amazing! After the first use, my scalp wasn’t itching anymore and my dandruff is almost clear.

I’ve used it two more times and love this dandruff shampoo. It is also ok to use on my highlighted hair, which most dandruff shampoos are bad for colored hair. I’m super happy with this shampoo and even more happy to have found what works for my dandruff and itchy scalp.

Do not be deceive by the fragrant always always check the ingredients. The scent smells so good however the ingredients will make you sick. I would like to improve this conditioner by using ONLY NATURAL ingredients not synthetic, unnatural formulas/ingredients.

My mother in law warned me not to use it because it might cause or trigger cancer. I hope at least Marola and quinoa seed oils are real. Also I don’t think this conditioner deserve a 1 star but I can’t review this without scoring.

First of all I rarely write hair product reviews because I find them to be ok or good, but not exactly what I need. I am 50, have hair just past my shoulder blades that is wavy, dry, and not quite as thick and course as it used to be.

I took the hair quiz and this product and the Argan line were recommended. I decided to try the Macadamia & Argan shampoo, conditioner, and leave in spray. I had already used the biotin line and liked it, but felt I needed more moisture.

This product delivered! My hair is very manageable, feels great, not weighted down, I usually shampoo 2x a week, this has left my hair looking nice between washes. I am going to try the mask and oil in this line as well.

I feel like it has also helped keep my hair tame during hot and humid summer days. I do not need to use a ton of conditioner to get results and my hair actually feels very soft and conditioned with just the shampoo which is really impressive.

I originally bought this because my 8 year old was resisting bathing (lots of side drama) and he discovered he loved the smell of roses. I shopped and shopped but could not find a product that smelled like straight roses, All were cheap smelling and perfume-y, which did not fly with my sensory kid.

No, I dont love the smell. Do this treatment before bed at night. This will work so much faster than the shampoo/conditioners on TV, and any my Salon has ever suggested. Again, for me results are near immediate.

I took this jar out of the shipping container and read something on the label that shocked me! “Hair is flammable. ” There is a warning to stay away from sparks, flame, extreme heat, lit tobacco. In other words, if I had not read that label, I might have put it on my scalp and then turned on the stove burner and CAUGHT ON FIRE! It is highly irresponsible of this company not to include this critical warning online.

I wanted to love this shampoo. I purchased this because I have been sulfate free for several years now in hopes that it would help a scalp condition. I’ve had consistent dandruff for 20 years. Unfortunately I can’t use this shampoo.

The two times that I did, I literally can’t stand myself afterwards, the smell of the dandruff treatment product inside this is nauseating to me.

My my whole life I always had a separate shampoo and conditioner. So this is for sure a game changer once I decided to switch to the two-in-one. But on top of that my conditioners always left my hair heavy or still greasy.

This conditioner doesn’t. I also have tried many different shampoos to deal with dandruff and none of them were actually effective. I haven’t had an issue with Andrew since I started to use this and doesn’t dry out my scalp like the other ones had.

I love Selsun for my sensitive scalp (for seborrheic dermatitis, not dandruff) and usually use the regular or medicated formulas with pyrithione zinc or selenium sulfide but I’m not the biggest fan of the pale blue or vibrant green (in the medicated) colors.

I bought this one without reading the active ingredient is salicylic acid. This formula is much more sudsy than the other formulas and my scalp fares OK on it (if my scalp is about 95% good on the other formulas, this one makes it about 80%), but I find it extremely drying on my body.

After showering, the skin on my back feels extremely tight and I’d have to moisturize there, whereas that’s not a concern with the other formulas (or most other shampoos, I’d say). However, maybe that’s exactly what you want if you’re suffering from bacne! My hair also seems the tiniest bit drier, but that could just be the current arid weather.

This formula might be ok for other folk, depending on your need, but I’m going back to one of the other active ingredients.

LOVE First, well, yea, my scalp can get kind of dry and if I ignored it, someone might say I had dandruff 😉 This is the only shampoo I’ve found that actually works AND doesn’t smell like the Heisenberg high school rolling chemistry lab! But, there’s a “holy grail” product bonus, I also use it on my face.

Don’t lather, just leave it as gel to sit for 3-5 minutes, my skin is as exfoliated and glowing as it would be if I hadn’t skipped a day or two of my full beauty routine. Please be careful though, my skin may be less sensitive than yours so please take my recommendation as a “this works really well for me, you should consider and decide for yourself if it’s right for you try” instead of “everyone is doing it and I promise nothing bad will ever happen if you do it too”.

I can’t stand the smell of other selsun blue products so I decided to give this a try and after only two uses I’m already regretting it! It has not helped with itching at all, and it is so incredibly drying on my hair.

After washing I have massive knots in my hair even with using plenty of good conditioner. If you have long hair I definately would not recommend this. Unless you enjoy spending extra hours picking knots out of your hair!.

The shampoo product is not working for me to control my scalp dandruff. An 8/10 condition. It may need a couple of months to work effectively. Also, I find the bottle difficult to squeeze to release the shampoo, esp when hands are wet.

I understand the need for thick and rich shampoo but very hard to get it from bottle. I like the fragrance.

I originally purchased 6 bottles of the hand sanitizer and then 6 pouch refills. I had been looking for months and buying everything possible. DS Sanitizer smells amazing and for the first time ever my hands are actually soft and not cracking.

I will search no further. I then purchased a volumizing shampoo for me, and the Dandrene for my severely disabled son who gets sores on his scalp. Within a week the sores were half gone. He is also severely immunocompromised with respiratory issues which makes Covid very frightening and the need for sanitizers a must.

The hair product was just a guess after using new hair products for me and in the end ALL of the products I have tried are excellent!! I highly recommend this hair product Dandrene and the volumizing shampoo and the sanitizer.

I was skeptical, I thought here’s another shampoo & conditioner claiming to work. Well, I’m no longer looking, I have found it! This product really does what it says it does. The mint smell is great and the way your head tingles when you use the conditioner is a bonus.

If you’re still looking for relief, try this you won’t be disappointed!.

This is the best dandruff product on the market. I have been trying to find a product that works for so long and this is it. The nozzle is fantastic, I so appreciate that it’s not just a squeeze thing.

You can control how much and where to distribute, it has completely cured my scalp. I was looking for something that would cleanse my scalp and this has done it perfectly – no more dandruff. If you have a few days at home, keep applying this every two hours and it really works, and honestly it dries and you can still go out without a greasy looking head if need be.

Only thing I would say is that I only knew about the every two hours instruction from the Mecca website, as it does not say on the bottle. It is vital people know this as this is what delivers the result! I did it for 2 days, then gave my hair a good shampoo, now my scalp feels completely rejuvenated, fresh and clean.

We have terrible water where I live and it makes my scalp so tight and itchy. I’ve tried several dandruff and “scalp health” shampoos but many of them strip my color or just plain don’t work. This Aveda solution not only prevents/stops itching, it also soothes my scalp practically making it say “ahhh!” Yes, there is a fragrance, (not unpleasant to my nose, however it can be a bit strong depending on how much you use) but it dissipates once my hair is dry.

My scalp stays mostly itch-free whether I wash my hair every 2 days or 3 days. And because this product is not a shampoo, it hasn’t stripped my color. The only thing I would change is the spray bottle packaging.

A dropper-style applicator would be much more precise in placing the solution directly to affected areas.

I’m convinced people will just find something negative to say about anything. If you’re desperate for comfort and your scalp is dry and flaky what do you have to lose you’re already miserable right?! no need to go out with it in. I do mine on the weekends and use less when I have to go out. Just be patient and take care of your scalp. You obviously need moisture!.

I bought this as a convenient replacement when I ran out of my beloved Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo, but it really doesn’t stand up to that comparison. First and foremost, I don’t smell or feel the tea tree! The Paul Mitchell even feels cooling on the skin, a sensation that tracks with my experience using straight tea tree essential oil as an acne spot treatment.

It’s my favorite part of using tea tree products, I find it wonderfully refreshing. Unfortunately, this shampoo doesn’t have that, and the smell weirdly reminds me of a can of Diet Coke—sharply metallic and vaguely artificial.

This product truly saved my scalp. I know that sounds dramatic but it is the truth. My scalp itched and flaked for years and the typical dandruff shampoos seemed to make things worse. I tried tea tree oil and even apple cider vinegar shampoos- they seemed to help a little bit.

I really thought I was going to have to go to a doctor over it. Then I found this product and figured I had nothing to lose. After 1-2 uses my scalp quit itching and there were no flakes. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GETTING THE SHAMPOO BY ITSELF.

The shampoo by itself smells completely different and after 1 wash it made my hair smell like sulfur (rotten eggs) for days. The 2-in-1 is a completely different story though, decent scent and amazing results.

I have been trying to ease my dandruff problem that was getting worse by day. I tried an expensive sea salt scalp mask, a giant French-company owned brand, but none works on me. Until a friend suggested me to find a product that is more natural.

Well, the smell is medicinal, like a coughing syrup, it has some menthol aroma somehow. Honestly, I don’t care about the smell, it does do its job.

This works wonders not just for braids but for natural hair as a leave in conditioner. I use it as a spray on my six year olds hair before detangling and twisting up into ponytails, I use this and a little bit of oil and her hair looks great for days.

The smell can be strong but you will be itch free dandruff free and frizz free for days. I love this stuff for the whole family.

I love the spray, I’ve used sulfur 8 since I was a kid and the products helped my sensitive scalp and sooth it. Since using sulfur 8 products haven’t had dandruff and a itchy scalp. Love the spray for my scalp when I have braids or any protective hair style spray soothes my scalp just like all sulfur 8 products.

This braid spray is a life saver! Recently got box braids for the first time and my hairstylist used it on my hair. It smells good and actually works. When my scalp gets itchy I spray it in the mornings and before bed.

I have only used this once so this review is based off this one time. I have to say , I do not have dandruff but I do have a very dry scalp. I am an African American woman with a lot of hair. It is not course but it is thick.

The product did smell good but My scalp was still dry after the wash. This products lather is lovely , I washed my hair in the tub and it looked like I had taken a bubble bath so it had very rich lather.

Aside from that, the overall graphic design of the product is very appealing to the eye. The green let me know it was healthy for my scalp. Overall, If possible I would include more oils into this product.

I’m not 100% sure I would recommend this product I will try this the next time I wash my hair.

This is the best dandruff shampoo I’ve ever used. For the last year I’ve been fighting dry scalp and dandruff. Used like 5 different shampoos and nothing else worked. As soon as I step out of the shower I can feel the difference.

This is amazing stuff I just wish it came in a bigger bottle. I’m glad that is very organic and cruelty free. I will buy five more bottles.

I’ve been using Niucoco for over a year now and I gotta say, this shampoo works wonderfully for me. For the first time in my life, I am able to go four or five days without washing, something I was always too greasy to do.

I am so grateful for this shampoo and conditioner duo! Has literally SAVED my hair. My hair has never looked fuller and as hydrated as it has with Niu Coco! I am extremely loyal to this brand and refuse to wash my hair if I don’t have this brand.

I have been using this shampoo for about three years. Originally I bought it because of a dermatologist diagnosis that turned out to be wrong. But I like what this shampoo does for my hair. It leaves feeling silky and has encouraged curl.

My hair stylist asked, “What shampoo are you using?!” She was impressed. So our household uses it now as the preferred shampoo.

It’s okay. I will make my own later. I know my scalp needs to be conditioned. so the performance may improve from the product. I do not like washing constantly with chemicals, so it is always a challenge to find a holistic product to use frequently.

It does not hydrate any more than structured water.

The ONLY dandruff shampoo that actually gets rid of my dandruff and doesn’t smell bad and ruin my hair in the process (I’m looking @ u , Head & Shoulders). I have tried so many dandruff shampoos over the years and most don’t work for me at all and some worsen the problem.

I’m would give 5 stars, but it still does leave my hair a little more brittle than ordinary shampoo. To accommodate this (once my dandruff has cleared up after a couple weeks of use) I use this once per week and wash with Phillip Adam Curly Hair Shampoo in between if I need to.

Overall, I’m very happy and will repurchase.

Occorre qualche utilizzo per comprendere a pieno come usarlo, all’apparenza magari asciuga un po’ i capelli, ma se si trova la combo giusta di prodotti é veramente valido.

Io lo utilizzo assieme al balsamo leggero (sempre Phitofilos) e alla spuma a tenuta morbida ☁️.

I have never heard of this brand before, but my sister & I both have dry scalp/dandruff issues so we are always looking for products that might help. The typical store/name brands only help slightly & are most likely full of chemicals.

This Avalon Organics has been great in the month we have used it! It is organic, non GMO, not tested on animals & has natural essential oils! I can smell the tea tree & to me it smells somewhat like chamomile also.

It’s not the greatest scent but it doesn’t bother either of us. It works really well for us! She has long hair & mine is short, but we are Native American & have very thick course hair. It removes lots of flakes, leaves our hair feeling soft & moisturized & has really stopped the itch overall! It’s a great natural dandruff conditioner solution.

So I was using a certain shampoo brand for about a year, and over that time I began to have some issues. I started having really bad issues with dandruff, greasy hair and a scalp that ALWAYS hurt.
