20 Best Home Printer For Pictures (2023 Updated)

Unlike most users, I am not a photographer, I’m a wedding stationery designer. And this is my first LEGIT printer. I’ve owned standard printers in the past for basic home use, etc. I use my Canon Pixma Pro-100 for printing small batches and samples of wedding stationery/invitations for my business.

This printer handles thick cover-weight paper and even handmade deckle edge cover-weight paper easily. To compare the quality, I ordered some of my stationery from a print shop that owns an HP Indigo (a top-of-the-line commercial printer), and my prints look almost exactly like theirs! WIN! However, I had a few issues with it initially because I had a hard time figuring out why my colors came out really dull compared to the computer screen.

I tried playing with the different paper choices they have, but still everything came out dull on my cotton paper. I mainly used either the fine art, or matte photo paper. In search of the solution I scoured the internet, and began to regret buying it.

Here’s a highlight of what I learned: 1. Initially, I learned about ICC profiles, and that it’s really good to know that info so you can tell your printer. But I couldn’t find a profile for my paper—Savoy cotton 118# cover.

2. Then I found out about a Canon software that directly links to Photoshop, but since I use InDesign for my wedding stationery, I can’t use it. 3. Then I found out that after exporting my designs to a PDF, I can print from there and control a lot more.

If you click the properties button at the top of the print dialog box, there you’ll see all the options. I played around in the color management checkbox until I got my prints to match. 4. FINALLY I figured out the best way to get my colors vibrant without having to do all the test prints via the minor, manual color adjustments.

Since none of the other paper choices worked for me to give me vibrant colors, I select envelope, and put in the size I’m working on (usually 8. 5×11 or whatever size my pre-cut stationery is). Then I print! That’s it!! My colors are now more true to screen! And I don’t have to waste time in the print dialog box.

Since I really don’t have a lot of knowledge on printing, there may even be a simpler way than that, but I haven’t explored all that this printer can do. I still plan on outsourcing my printing most of the time (less hassle, only slightly more expensive per page, less time), but I’m really happy that I bought this so I can print last minute, “I need two more invitations” bride emergencies, or printing out designs I’m working on (sometimes it’s nice to see it in person), or to print small batches of stationery (like if I’m participating in a styled shoot), etc.

As a photo printer, it does an excellent job both color and B/W. Ink cartridges are still over 90 percent full, even after setup and several trial prints. For the best results use quality Photo paper.

Heavy printing stock seems to be No problem from the rear feeder slot, just make sure you have the right side up or use two sided stock. Network connection was very easy, according to instructions, and took about five minutes of the setup time of around thirty minutes total after unboxing.

Operation is very quiet and no vibrations at all, it sits about two feet from my left ear. This is not a production or speedy printer, a good 8 by10 print takes two to three minutes after it is sent to the printer.

Larger formats I would expect four to five minutes. A small 5 x 7 will print in about a minute. These timed are average and results, time wise depends on density and color saturation as well as quality of photo paper being used.

Salon quality prints can be obtained with the best paper and software combined. Better quality prints will take a printer costing two to three times as much.

I’ve had the ET-8550 for a few weeks after waiting many months for it to become available. It produces impressive results printing documents, photos, and DVDs. But setting it up was a nightmare. The instructions about setup are scattered across several html documents with small print, lots of links, and numbered series of steps that sometimes don’t seem specific or tell exactly what to do.

There are also instructions on the printer’s little screen, some of them hard to interpret and some at odds with the printed documentation. A number of crucial terms are unfamiliar and undefined. Getting the wireless connection to my computer to work took hours of trial and error.

But that was nothing compared to the difficulties of getting the ET-8550 to print on DVDs (actually Blu-Rays, though as far as the printer is concerned, there’s no difference). I bought the ET-8550 to replace my Epson 1430, which used a separate app called “Print CD” for this function.

Since I didn’t find any instructions about how to print CDs on the ET-8550, I tried toe use “Print CD. ” Opening it led to an error message and a document that specified a series of steps that didn’t work but led to the conclusion that the AirPlay protocol built into my Mac’s OS wouldn’t work.

I took the steps of opening an Epson account so that I could connect via Epson Remote, and this ultimately led to an error message reporting that Print CD was missing a driver. I couldn’t find such a driver anywhere.

I called Epson support and over a period of three days had long sessions with about ten different service people, who mostly took the time to consult the online instructions that I had already seen and ask if I had downloaded the drivers that I had already downloaded.

They promised callbacks from technicians at higher levels, some of which happened and some of which didn’t. Finally, there was a technician who doubted that the ET-8550 could be used with the app Print CD and thought that the way to print on disks was to use a new app called “Photo Plus.

” The home page of this app in fact listed CDs as one of the eight options available, but it was the only one dimmed out. Hovering the mouse over it produced the message that it was not available with my printer (the printer’s advertisements all include the feature of CD printing).

Finally, another technician a day later suggested that I reinstall the driver and connect to the internet via a path that was neither AirPlay or Epson Connect. None of this is in any of the documentation! But it did work and the results are good.

I’m grateful for the expertise of the woman who solved the problem. The reason for my three-star rating is the appalling inadequacy of the setup instructions and technical support.

I bought this printer about a month ago (as soon as it became available in the Northeastern U. S. ) from Office Depot–not the first place you would think of for a photo printer, but at least they had it in stock.

The price went up by $100 compared to what it was last winter when I tried to order it. So much for our new period of inflation and broken supply chains. Nevertheless, I already own an Epson ET-3600 for conventional printing, two HP network laser printers and an aging Canon Pixma Pro 9000, which uses 8 inks–and they are becoming very expensive.

The Canon printer still produces superb color, but black & white is another story. I was hoping the ET-8550 would produce better B&W images, and so far I have not been disappointed. Having printed silver prints with my old Beseler 4×5 enlarger in the darkroom, I’ve found it impossible to get decent B&W prints on any inkjet printer.

Until now. The ET-8580’s output on (believe it or not) Costco’s Kirkland glossy paper rivals anything I got out of my darkroom on conventional silver paper: blacks are black and gray scale to white is perfect.

I have not yet tried matte paper, but I expect the results will be equally superb. With a minor density adjustment, I easily calibrated the ET-8550’s output to match the Canon printer, which was initially calibrated to match 4-color offset printer results and my screen.

This was an easy task compared to matching color in the darkroom–even with a darkroom color analyzer. At first, I thought the front door that opens when I print was a little silly. But I like the printer to be fully closed when in not in use.

It can’t catch dust when it’s closed. The back tray for larger paper is OK for what I do. I haven’t yet tried printing on both sides of ledger-based plain paper. This is something I would do only occasionally for print proofs.

So far, so good! I’m pleased with the printer and the accessibility of the ink storage area, compared to the side-mounted ink vessels on the ET-3600. I have scanned images from old Kodachrome slides, 6×6 cm color and B&W positives and negatives, and 4×5 and 5×7 B&W negatives, all scanned on Epson photo scanners.

The final output I get even from film more than 40 years old is amazing–easier and better than all the hours I spent in the darkroom.

I have worked in the IT industry for over 17 years (and even longer as the “family computer guy”) and have come across a multitude of printers: Canon, Lexmark, Epson, Brother, Konica, HP, Ricoh, and all have their Pros and Cons.

As a former, professional photographer, I also trusted Canon and Epson for accurate photo reproduction. Canon announced 4 new PIXMA printers in the summer of 2019, including the PIXMA TS6320, just in time for the back-to-school season.

So, how does the TS6320 photo printer, which is geared towards students, fare? Pretty well! Once in a while, you may have to run a self-cleaning cycle to keep the ink flowing optimally Overall, like many inexpensive, family-oriented, consumer printers, the high cost of the ink cartridges makes the per-page print cost high.

However, the PIXMA TS series is known for its excellent photo reproduction where images and colors pop. This printer produces great output for low-volume homes and small offices, and is quite suitable for students needing to print reports and presentations.

Bought this based on online reviews and specs. It feels extremely heavy although the construction is light and flimsy/delicate. The scanner lid feels like it might snap off each time you lift it (it wobbles in hand) and the paper tray is the same – additionally, the tray has a nonsense flat that must be removed to insert paper.

I had thought that the asymmetric design might have some interesting function, but no. It’s just a weird design with an extra bit of “shelf” surface to catch dust. Importantly, this printer used 5 different ink cartridges to limit any wastage in replacing but (a) printing black only appears to use the BK cartridge that comes in the multi-pack replacement; and (b) you do not get many prints from each ink cartridge anyway.

Also, replacing ink cartridges is very awkward – you need to lift the scanner lid, then lift the scanner bed which only opens to a 30 degree angle and you have to squeeze the cartridges into place.

I’ve used several generations of Canon printer over many years, and was looking for a replacement that had: dual paper feeds, duplex (double sided) printing, individual colour ink tanks for economy, and both USB & WiFi connection This one fits the bill! It has a practical compact design with a simple LCD display and push-buttons rather than a touch-screen, easy to use with no unnecessary frills.

As an engineer keen on practical design, I was happy to pay almost 50% more than the TS8250 (my initial choice) for this no-nonsense model that sits alongside my desk and can accommodate papers on the flat top when I’m not using the scanner.

Set-up with direct USB connection was straightforward – I didn’t bother with the provided CD, but went straight for instructions on the website. Wi-Fi set up was less obvious until I realised that the front panel itself allows initial connection to a router, after which it was easy.

I was pleasantly surprised that it also connected easily to a Linux PC via Wi-Fi, even though I’m a bit of a Linux novice. I’ve used the printer for several days, now and the print quality is excellent.

One feature that I’ve missed from a much older Canon printer is a front-panel switch to toggle between the cassette and rear paper trays – for routine printing I have plain paper in the cassette, and recycled single-sided paper at the rear for less important drafts.

I’m pleased that this one notices if I insert paper in the rear feeder, and gives me the option to change paper source at the front panel which is great. I’ve been able to source compatible high-capacity (XXL) cartridges on the Internet at about half the price of Canon originals, so am hopeful that running costs will be modest.

Good print quality. once you get past the setup, which is almost comically difficult. I spent well over an hour working past the confusing instructions (both the package insert and the online version) for how to connect wirelessly, from my phone and from my Mac Mini.

The instructions led me to several very frustrating dead-ends. I was on the verge of packing it up and returning it. It now appears to be working, albeit the Canon software and pop-up screen are clunky and not intuitive.

Also, the external charger is very heavy and bulky; something to consider if you’re planning (as am I) to travel with this unit. Furthermore, the photo paper tray doesn’t nest nicely into the printer unit, making packing more awkward.

Were I to do this again, I’d get the competing product (I’ll not name it) that can be powered by a USB source, and which has a nicely designed magnet-abetted nest for the paper tray. Although that product is a bit more bulky, it is probably ends up to be about the same as the Selphy when you consider the Selphy’s external charging unit and non-integrated photo tray storage.

Also. I’m not at all sure that the Selphy’s pop-up screen adds anything but complexity, if you consider that all of its functions could be more simply provided by a well-designed cell-phone application.

I might mention that the Selphy iPhone app simply doesn’t work.

TL;DR It works better than I expected, and I recommend it. I’m a commercial photographer based in NYC, and a client wanted prints on site for a charity golf event. I haven’t done printing on site in 11years, and the last time I did I was able to rent a dye-sublimation printer for a NY rental house.

They’re no longer available locally, so I looked into buying one. The least expensive commercial-grade dye-sub printer was $495, but none was available anywhere, so I bought two Canon Selphy CP-1300 printers.

They’re not intended for commercial use, and are slower than commercial printers, but we were able to deliver the prints my client needed running two at a time. Print quality is very good, and I have a happy client.

One note from my digital tech: they don’t seem to like print queues of multiple prints, so one at a time. We printed from Lightroom over a WiFi network (we brought our own WiFi router so we wouldn’t have to share bandwidth, and it worked without a hitch).

This is going to be a long but comprehensive review and hopefully helps others decide if they should purchase this printer. I printed about 2500 prints in the 10 months I’ve owned this printer so I have a decent amount of experience to share.

First, why choose this printer over the Pro-1000? This printer comes with a full set of ink but the Pro-1000 only includes a starter set making this ready to go with a full set for $899 but the Pro-1000 will cost you $1999 to start.

Next, this can easily handle 10-20 pages in the feed tray but the Pro-1000 can only take 1 sheet at a time. If you really need 16×20 or larger then buy a larger printer or look at printing them somewhere else.

A quick note why I chose this over the Epson P900 which seemed like a logical choice if you need 16x20s. The issue is I print high volume and it had too many negative reviews on feeding issues for my comfort.

I have never had a feed issue with this printer loading about 15 sheets at a time. Second, after looking at the ability to handle multiple sheets my next biggest concern was printing costs. I don’t track my costs that much on a per page basis but from the analysis I have done from time to time it looks like it’s costing me about $0.

01 or $0. 009 per square inch. Makes it easy to estimate my costs because an 8×10 is $0. 80 and 4×6 is $0. 24 and so on. The cartridges are a sponge so to refill you just need to turn them upside down and drip ink onto the sponge until it’s full.

And reset the cartridge of course. I don’t do that because the cost is already so low thanks to B&H’s excellent pricing it’s not worth my time to save a few pennies but if that’s your thing it should be easy.

Third, Canon’s software is complete garbage and customer service is almost non-existent. I have tried multiple times to get volume discounts by ordering a few thousands sheets a time and hear nothing.

B&H is much cheaper than anywhere else including direct from Canon so maybe it wouldn’t be cheaper even with a discount. Still frustrating the won’t return calls or respond to messages. For my workflow I edit my prints in Photoshop using sRGB profile then save them as JPGs on high-quality by size at 300ppi and don’t save the ICC profile with it.

I end up having a version of each image for each size I print. To actually print, I simply right-click on the image and select ‘Print’ to open the Windows dialog. Make sure to uncheck the Fit picture to frame and make sure Full Page is selected.

Select your paper, size, and you should be ready to go. You can waste time with color profiles in Photoshop and trying to get an exact match but I have done both and notice very little if any difference and this is more than acceptable.

A final note is I print 11x14s through Photoshop on 13×19 paper and offset them by 4. 26 inches. I do this because it leaves me with a 4. 26×13 piece that I cut in half for printing my 4x6s. I have a stack of probably 500 sheets so I never have to buy paper for my 4x6s.

The only major issue I’ve had is Windows has a hard time detecting when the printer is available. It’s connected, you can view the printer settings via the browser through the IP address but it will show offline if the computer was recently turned on.

I have found no good solution other than doing multiple restarts or simply leave the computer on and awake for an extended period of time. Very frustrating to say the least. Last thought, I’ve never printed on high-quality as standard is so good I’ve seen no need and my customers have never complained about the quality.

I cannot tell the difference between these printed with standard quality and ones I get from pro photo labs. Printing on high-quality probably does look better but it will also raise the cost of printing and it’s so good as is I see no reason to change.

Love this printer – only issues I had so far was setting up the printer with my network. Easiest solution was to just get a printer cable to do the setup/driver installation, the wireless worked fine after that.

Note – most computers don’t have CD drives anymore so cable setup is best option. But if you do have a CD drive on your desktop or laptop then it should be fine with setup that way. I love that this printer supports various paper sizes and thickness including 11×17 which I use to print out plans.

I’ve tried printing photos on this as well and it’s amazing colors are spot on. The starter cartridge that comes with this lasts quite a bit and I love that you can buy the individual colors rather than the color cartridges like HP has for a crazy price.

The down side to this is that there is no scan or copy function on this. I basically ended up purchasing this model because I do a lot of craft printing and this fit all my qualifications (multi paper size (large prints) / thickness / color quality).

And this only comes in a top load – great for crafters as this doesn’t bend / curl the paper as it feeds thru unlike bottom load printers. Giving the ease of use a 4 star only due to the setup being a bit difficult if you’re trying to set up wirelessly – best to get a printer cable.

Everything’s gone to wireless these days so I hoped I could have an easy connection between my laptop and printer. But, it didn’t work. At all. It wouldn’t connect to my wifi. No matter what. I did everything the website said, the directions, even other reviews.

I screen shotted them before I even bought it so I’d know what to do, but it didn’t work. Of course it comes with no cable to connect directly, so I had to buy one of those too. Cheap, but still couldn’t use it right out of the box due to that.

The print quality is fantastic! I haven’t done full sheets but I make stickers and buttons for my store and the color quality is almost identical to my screen which is wack, because the rgb/cymk difference doesn’t even feel like it’s there.

So far I’ve made maybe 50 sticker sheets and printed about 20 regular papers for buttons, and I’m already halfway out of ink. This is without printing full pages of color. Kind of worrisome. Overall, this is a great printer.

Hella bulky, takes up half my desk. But it folds up the slides when you’re not printing, isn’t very loud and prints decently fast. Again I haven’t printed full papers, but it doesn’t print slow at all in my opinion.

The only weird thing is that it paused halfway through, and when I was printing my laptop told me it was ‘waiting for previous page to dry’ which is nice, but again, a little weird and annoying with the pause if you’re not leaning the papers on the tray.

Once again. It’s easy with the cable. Wifi connection SUCKS. I thought it wouldn’t be like what people say but it really really does suck. The driver looked weird on my laptop too, like it just couldn’t format so I could barely click the buttons.

Installed the driver via USB-connect successfully one one laptop without issues. On a separate Win-10 Pro machine the install programs would not configure the driver, through either direct-connect or USB-connect approaches.

Each attempt results in repeating the long install process, involving recommended reboots, and provides no useful information on what the issue is. On USB installs the installer would detect the printer, but then mysteriously report “The printer is not detected.

Check the connection. “. This is my main point: the installation process was designed for the “happy path”, where the stars are aligned and everything works. The installation process provides no usable information or clues, nor any recoverability when it doesn’t work.

I have installed many Canon printers (and competitors) over decades and never encountered such a challenge. No antivirus was active. Ran install as Admin user. Only recommended if you have a dedicated IT staff to work to resolve issues – not recommended for home use.

I just bought my second 8620. I buy this printer for one reason: it can use the cheap offbrand 281 cartridges. A refill of genuine Canon cartridges costs as much as $70. Offbrand cartridges cost as little as $5 for 5 cartridges.

Note to Canon: the minute you close this loophole, our relationship is over! I installed the Canon software on my laptop and it worked fine for printing and scanning. Not so for my android phone and ipad.

No matter. As long as they are on the same wireless network as the printer, you’re fine. You don’t really need special software to print. I only need a basic printer and scanner and was happy with my previous basic plastic concrete block.

This printer is rather more complex and has a lot more features than a basic printer, some of which I really like. Cool features: document feeder for copying and scanning, rear feed for small photos and envelopes, automatic duplex printing.

Negative features: the control panel has to flip out in order to print, bottom paper tray is unnecessarily complex. There’s a little plastic partial cover for the paper tray that has to be removed to put the paper in and snapped back on before you shove the tray back in.

I can totally see this getting lost or broken, and it prevents me from just shoving single sheets of paper into the tray without having to pull out the tray, take the little plastic lid off, put the paper in, snap the little plastic lid back on, shove the tray back, and confirm the paper type.

Features I don’t use and care nothing about: the fax, the Canon Image Garden. In summation: it’s a nice, if slightly fussy, printer and has the potential to save a ton on ink.

I tried out this printer after my previous Brother printer finally gave up the ghost after 11 years of use. I should have realized the problems right out of the box when the download link for the installer software fails to download anything.

The executable attempts to download files, but fails with a vague error message. This unit worked fine as a printer attached to my PC for about a month or 2. Then, would no longer print anything. It failed to recognize data being sent to it.

Replacing the USB cable did no good. In fact, I used the same cable I used on my old Brother and the replacement for this unit just fine, so it wasn’t a USB cable or port issue. I ended up replacing this with another Brother unit which is working fine after about a month.

I gave this Canon to my mother for use a copier. As a copier, this unit is more than adequate for the job. I can’t really say it works well as a scanner for PC because the one time I tested this function with VueScan, if you changed to any DPI beyond the default, you received scrambled scans.

This is probably a bug in VueScan, but since I didn’t test it beyond this, I can’t say for sure. I didn’t buy this Canon for its scanner capabilities, but for copier and printer ones. Bottom line is I can’t recommend this unit for anything other than making copies.

If you want a good printer or scanner, look elsewhere. Go for a Brother. I should have when making my rounds for a replacement for my 11 year old Brother. The local Office Depot store didn’t have any when I found this Canon; I eventually just ordered a Brother from OfficeDepot.

I needed a computer fast to replace a dying Epson WF3530 (that other than ink cost is a great all-in-1) and 100 holiday letters needed to be printed. Being in a time crunch I looked for availability, cost, quality.

in that order and ended up with the TR8620. Set-up was easy enough with the supplied small cap ink cartridges (quickly needed a replacement black, blue, and magenta). It requires 2 different blacks. 1 larger black for text and a smaller black for photos.

Connecting to home wifi was easy enough for me and I’m no genius. We have 3 computers printing from 2 printers without issue (the WF is limping along with some odd text lines). I did have to turn off the printer’s default-on print command window as it took 3 different print commands to print a page.

And you have set the screen to turn off (not sleep the printer) or else the screen just stays on. Duplex is simple as is scanning to pdf or jpg. It does default to jpg on smaller than full page scans so keep an eye on that.

I haven’t had occasion to use the rear paper feed. It has an auto document feeder (ADF) which I was surprised to not find on every printer. The front paper tray specs at 100 pages but it’s a tight fit.

No comparison to the Epson with 2 trays that hold 250 each (a full ream). The feed tray has a cover that is better left off as it only makes it difficult to pull the tray out. The output tray (arm) is basic but does what it needs to.

The moveable control panel must be folded out or it won’t print and must be held in place when selections are made or it simply moves back out of position and conflicts with the output tray. To fill the feed tray you have to first fold in the control panel, fold in the output tray, then you can service the feed tray.

There’s no USB port. The only media port is for an SD card almost like it’s purpose built to print from a digital camera. That alone may make it worth considering something else. If you’re printing almost exclusively text, get a Brother laser.

If you need an inkjet all-in-1 consider almost anything else a bit higher end than this. If you’re tied to a rock bottom budget this will almost certainly be in stock and in your budget. And by the way, the TR8620 and the TR8622 are the same printer.

The TR8622 is simply the one shipped to and sold by Walmart. TLDR: PROS: It’s inexpensive, easy to set up, and will get you scanning or duplex printing quickly. CONS: It prints slowly, uses ink quickly, doesn’t hold much paper, and seems was not actually tested in use by those who designed it (non-ergonomic).

I’m writing this to give this printer a superb rating, but I don’t think it’s made anymore. In its price range, I don’t think it has had an equal. I’ve been a graphic artist and working corporate and fine art photographer for decades, and this machine does an excellent job with color, and a very good job with black and white photos, with the shadows tending to be a bit on the heavy side.

Mine broke down recently and I bought this one to fill its place. Yay!!.

This is a replacement for an exact replica of my old trusty printer and this new Pixma is perfect and cost less than the repair would have cost on our old workhorse. A perfect swap and it is perfect! Five minutes after I unpacked it I was as good as new!.

I recieved my Canon printer about two years ago and have loved it ever since. Canon is such a wonderful company and has never let me down. I am a graphic designer and print wedding invitations from my home and this is my printer of choice.

Customers are continually impressed that I use an at-home printer to print their orders. I am also an avid scrapbooker and will often print photos on this printer; you can’t even tell which photos are from the store and which photos I have printed at home.

I print everything on this printer- labels, recipe cards, invitations, photographs, coupons, everyday information and all on a variety of papers. It’s very easy to use and the printer settings are very accomodating to my needs.

I am able to print full-bleed on multiple sizes and even when the printer is set to “standard printing” instead of “high standard printing” the prints look great! I also love that the ink colors all have seperate cartridges, when replacing ink, I save money because of this.

I couldn’t reccommend this printer enough!.

This is an okay printer. Be warned, it doesn’t ship with a cable to plug into your computer. If you don’t want to install it wireless, you’ll have to get your own cable. It prints well, so it does it’s job.

It’s loud though. I don’t know if it’s the printer trying to find paper, but you can hear it running loudly after you first turn it on. It’s awkwardly loud for a printer, I’m not sure how else to describe it.

The drivers we needed, to get the scanner to work, were difficult to find on the website. It took some extra effort to get that part of the printer to function like it was supposed to, and that was with my husband, and myself, both being pretty familiar with computers and installing devices.

Someone less technologically savvy might have a harder time getting this device set up. This printer isn’t as user friendly as it could be, when it comes to dealing with issues. There are relatively fewer buttons to do things, and it makes troubleshooting problems difficult.

While it looks simple to use, it isn’t as simple when you need to try and address an issue. That being said, I like the fact that it has a scanner, you feed paper in through the front (and not the top), and the color is fun and different.

For no more than I purchased it for, so far it’s a decent little printer.

Just bought this printer and set up was easy and clear. It connected to my internet just fine, as there are a lot of reviews saying that was a common issue. All the test prints look great! HELPFUL TIP: It navigates you through an installation program and at the end it gives you a list of additional programs to install.

these programs are NOT needed. All you need to install are the drivers so your computer can register it as an available device. I had installed everything first and went into my Apps on my computer and saw the unnessary amount of programs it had installed for no reason.

I uninstalled everything and realized my computer wasn’t registering it anymore so I had to reinstall but like I said, at the end it gives you a list with check boxes and I just unchecked everything and it did not install those unnessary programs, just the drivers which is all you need.

So I did the extra troubleshooting so you don’t have to! Less programs you download on your computer, the better it will run. Sorry, that does not have to do with the printer itself but it is mandatory for wireless connection.

Great, cheap printer for home use!.

I purchased this printer exclusively for home use and so far, I am satisfied with the production and quality of the prints. My printer is paired with both my PC and Mac and had little issues setting up the printer for USB and wifi connectivity.

One thing I do emphasize is to follow the instructions that are included with the printer to ensure your setup process goes smoothly. Also, if you plan on using the printer connected via USB, ensure that you purchase a USB-A to USB-B cable.

The printer does not include a USB cable. As a budget printer, I knew what to expect and I wasn’t wrong. The scanner is decent, the printer is loud when turning it on and while it prints, but again, not a deal breaker.

I am happy with the purchase I made and would recommend this printer to anyone who needs a basic home printer for occasional printing. If you do need to print multiple pages, I would recommend a laser jet printer that easily handles high volume printing.

I’ve owned this printer for four years, using for a variety of papers. It’s very reliable, making excellent borderless prints, printing cards, and all of the regular home prints for photos and text. The only two things I don’t like are the paper feed tray is set too close to the output tray, and the rear feed doesn’t hold many pages before it starts to affect the feed rollers.

The paper feed tray is awkward to get to when the output tray is extended. It is set on nearly the same level as the table and directly below the output tray. Loading paper stocks means the output tray has to be stored before I can pull the paper feed tray out, and the feed tray has to be pulled completely out in order to load it.

This is an issue when I’m printing front and back on stiffer paper stock, since pulling the tray out each time to reload it means waiting for the output tray to store each time. The rear paper feed is limited in the number of pages it holds.

Too many pages and the pages don’t feed. Could be a problem with the location of the feed rollers? However, I love the way the printer will feed the papers, checking whether they are advanced far enough so the top of the print is actually the top of the paper before it starts printing.

Purchased this printer several years ago. Loved the print quality, especially at this price point. Ink is pricey (6 separate cartridges) but knew that going in. However, after replacing the ink cartridges only a few times, it appears in this latest iteration a small piece in the cartridge receiving tray for an individual cartridge fractured and broke off.

Ink cartridge is not recognized by printer and renders the printer completely useless. Part appears to be under-engineered for its purpose. Have owned multiple printers and never had issues replacing cartridges on any of them.

Online customer service very un-helpful. They ask for pictures documenting the issue and after receiving them say sorry, online help cannot help, close the case and tell you to call them instead. Will not recommend this to other users based on my experience.

Prints beautiful, large prints on photo paper and decently quick. The cartridges are reasonably priced for a change (there are 6 of them). I did find an oddity where the print sometimes pauses during the print that there doesn’t seem to be a solution for.

Not sure if it’s the size of the file that’s perhaps causing buffering over WIFI. In any case, if it pauses during print with standard inkjet paper it leaves a noticeable change in color tone where it paused printing.

I haven’t had that happen on photo paper so the noticeable color change may have to do with how the ink gets absorbed in the paper when the print pauses. Otherwise, I wish it was touch screen with a bigger screen, and it does seem to like to pull two pages at a time using regular inkjet printer paper.

The software installed easily and it works consistently overBut overall, I’m still happy with the purchase. It’s a very nice printer for high quality prints.

The price here was the lowest I found, so kudos to best buy. However, the printer itself is somewhat disappointing. I bought it specifically to print 11 x 17 documents in color. The color is meh and the standard quality is poor.

It prints a “shadow” (kind of looks like a double strike on an old typewriter). The highest quality is a little better, but still just meh. It claims to print brilliant photos, but my mid-range laser printer (about the same price) is 10 times better.

Every time I turn it on I have to wait for it to go through it’s update search, and again after every update. A bit time consuming. I have it set to auto update, I guess it’s definition of auto and mine are different.

It also takes a long time to start printing after it has been idle for a while. Once it gets going the speed is acceptable. Won’t win any races, but I’m not in one. It’s not difficult to master, but not super easy, either.

It comes with decent instructions, and the brother website is helpful so far.

I bought this printer to replace a 10-year-old Epson Artisan 50 that broke, and I was tired of wasting so much expensive ink on nozzle cleaning. The many reviews I read were positive so I figured I’d give the G620 a try.

When I got the printer installed on my MacBook Pro via USB, I was surprised at how bare-bones the printer driver was, especially compared to the Windows driver, and that according to the manual in order to print borderless on a Mac I need to set an option on the printer’s small LCD panel before each print in addition to specifying borderless in the print dialog.

This is extremely frustrating. On top of that, to perform maintenance functions and settings like nozzle checks and cleaning I need to open and log into the ‘printer web page’ as these features aren’t available in the print driver on OSX (they’re available in the Windows driver, as are a host of other useful settings).

My old printer had a much more functional Mac driver that the G620. I was also surprised that unlike previous photo printers I’ve owned I was unable to turn off printer color management and use Photoshop and Lightroom’s color management (this is apparently the case on Windows as well as Mac), though the prints I’ve made so far using the G620”s printer color management seem pretty accurate.

I love the MegaTank feature, and the print colors seem to be really good, but as a Mac user the lack of a fully functional OSX printer driver and the extra manual step in borderless printing on OSX are disappointing.

For Windows users that don’t need to use their photo application’s color management I would recommend this printer and give it at least 4 stars.

Printer was bought to replace a Canon MG6853. It’s perfomance is as good as this older printer and the print quality is good. However the mono 5 x 1. 5cm display is shoddy compared with the illuminated colour 6 x 4.

5cm one on the MG6853. I had to use a torch to be able to see it. At three times the price of the 6853, not to put a descent display on the 3560 is criminal. Another critism is that nowhere in the setup paperwork or online does it mention having to attach the printer to your WiFi network using the printer control panel.

Neither does it explain what the buttons do and how to use them for inputting numbers etc. The “Getting Started” guide enclosed for setup recommends going online to Canon in order to connect to a computer.

I did this, identified my model number then clicked setup and downloaded the exec which I initiated. This searched for the printer on my network and could not find it. Looking online for help I was reminded to try connecting to my WiFi network using the buttons on the printer itself.

Inputting my network password a number of times failed but I tried the alternative of using the “WPS” button on the router and this worked. I checked my PC for Canon printer Apps and found that nothing had been installed by the downloaded programme and so went to the CD supplied with the printer and installed the drivers and setup software from that.

The search for my printer on my network was now successful and the printer was ready to use.

I bought the printer for general use at home, not specifically for photos. Having printed both photos and regular text, I am very happy with the output. Despite not having ICC profiles for Canon paper such as Photo Paper Plus II, as long as I select the correct type of paper and quality in Lightroom, the results are very impressive.

So far I have printed multiple detailed scenes on 5×7 Glossy Plus II paper and the results match the output on the monitor very closely. I am very happy with this level of color photo printing. The printer does fine for regular text printing or my children’s school projects.

I am not too keen on the paper handling as the printer has only one tray and I need to explicitly set the correct paper size on the printer prior to sending anything to the printer. In the past, I would just put the right paper in the rear tray and tell Lightroom the paper size with no additional fuss.

Fortunately, I do not plan on using this printer for photos too much (I plan on getting the Pro-200 for that), however, if you are printing photos and changing paper size regularly, then it can be can be a nuisance.

Setup was somewhat straightforward, although trying to understand how to enter the password characters for the wifi was very cryptic. Fortunately, once you enter the password, you don’t have to worry about it again.

Build quality is average, the printer feels light and not too cheap. I cannot comment on ink longevity as I have only printed about 20 photos so far. Overall, a nice printer with good photo output.

These are getting harder to find because they’re an older model. But we have to have something that we can buy generic cartridges for that cost less than $1. 00 each. But yet we want high quality printing to do all our church printing—and this little printer def does the job.

We will use this printer until it just won’t print anymore or can’t be fixed! Awesome Deal for us!!! And we definitely get way more usage out of these printers than we pay for it/them. We have 3 different printers, each have their own types of usages.

However, we do 99% of everything on this printer it does that well of a job. plus—- overall even changing the cartridges as often as we do each month (with generic cartridges), we come out way ahead using this older printer.

I got this cannon printer as part of my computer bundle purchase a few years back. It worked great for the first couple of years, but it doesnt seem to be holding up all that well. It was super easy to download the software and initially the copies were crisp and it printed quickly, but over the past year it has developed some undesirable issues.

Even though I use the correct paper, the machine has atendency to jam. Recently the copied have become compromised in relation to how crisp they print. I did at one point use an after market ink cartridge which may or may not have added to the problem.

Now Im back to using original manufactured cartridges,but still after putting in a new cartridge about every ten copies or so I have to remove ink cartridge and shake it the reload it to get a dark enough copy.

The only thing Im grateful for is that its easy to access the cartridge to do that. Its an ok printer for someone who doesnt need copies on a regular basis. Ill be looking to replace this unit soon.

The only problem I did have with Canon’s Inkjet Pixma ip 1500 Printer is the color feature started to fail me and finally stopped working after ink spilled out of the absorber. The ink cartridges were a steal of a deal because I could purchase a combo pack of ten compatible black and color inks for a little less than forty bucks.

I would advise anyone to look into them because you will save a bundle of money on its usage. Printing return addresses and mailing addresses were a cinch, too, when you do things the good old fashion way! Using photo paper you could still manage a few printing jobs, without the hassle of a supply and demand for your replacement product item.

A ink counter reset is necessary when showing the refillable contents of a new ink cartridge and other featured parts of the printer maintains a good quality piece of work. Compac, USA were carrying them before they went out of business, but, most any electronic business probably will have these kinds of printers in stock.

The main reason for a three star review is lack of photo editing software that works with this printer. All the printer comes with is a driver so your applications can print to it, however, it is very trial and error regarding the results, wasting a great deal of printer supplies.

If you can get a Canon camera to connect to it, good luck, our ELPH360HS camera won’t connect to anything. WIFI communication is useless. Expect to use a specialized printer cable with this printer. Color and sharpness are as good as now obsolete selphy printers and the good thing is your obsolete selphy supplies will work with this printer.

While Canon produces some of the best cameras and photo printers on the market, I think they are falling behind with their cameras and printers likely being replaced by smart phones with greater capability and interfacing with online printing services.

If needing an instant photo like a Polaroid, this printer will fit the bill. If needed to print wallet photos for family, it is difficult. Also, getting the printer driver to work with photo editing software does not always print the size selected for the paper I imagine due to driver conflicts with the editing software.

This review is being written after using this printer a handful of times for about 250 prints, and I’m very happy to report that Canon has created a winner for super-simple printing of 4×6 images. My first time using the printer was at an event printing about 150 pictures that were taken on a Canon 5D Mark IV camera and copied over to the printer on an SD card.

While not the most efficient process it allowed two people to work using two different cards. The printer allowed easy navigation and printing for very, very decent unedited printing. A++ The second major project was after connecting the printer to a local wifi network so that multiple people could print from their iPhones.

Definitely not fast, but good enough, Everyone found the printer easily and the print quality was better than expected. Is this the best photo printer on the market – absolutely not, however, it may well be one of the best 4×6 printers that you’re ever going to use.

Would love for a bigger print (5×7), but for this price, I am very happy with my purchase.

I was looking for an affordable printer to use for school (graphic design) and to use to make greeting cards for my Etsy business so I decided to purchase the Pixma iP8750. Up until this point I’ve only ever owned cheap 30 dollar HP inkjet printers.

This was a huge step up for me. It was so easy to set up. I did not need directions. The ink cartridges are easy to put in also and installation was a breeze. My only complaint is this printer will not connect to my home network.

I tried everything and it always says it cannot find the network. I am not the only person to have this issue. It’s not a huge deal but I was looking forward to printing wirelessly. Lets move on to the print quality.

It is excellent. The cards I’ve been making look like they came from a store. The ink dries quick and doesn’t smudge (If you are using the proper paper settings). I like the fact that you can print to the edge of the paper also and that it prints larger than letter size paper.

I haven’t tried that feature yet though. I have been using different paper types with it and have never had a jam. I’ve used pretty thick cardstock and did not have an issue. The printer also comes with ink cartridges.

The ink seems to last a while. I’ve been printing a lot of stuff, sometimes a 5×7 card with a black background. My old printer would have been out of ink in a week if I did that. This one isn’t even halfway empty yet and the cartridges I have are not even the XL ones.

Overall, I am really happy with this purchase. I feel like I got my monies worth. Again a little disappointed about the network connection issue and just want to warn others. If you MUST print wirelessly I strongly advise looking in another direction.
