20 Best Home Bar Ice Maker (2023 Updated)

This really looked like a nice little ice maker. The problem was it didn’t work. Not for one minute. It could never get past the on/off function. No matter what it never turned on. The light would turn green saying it was on, but then it would turn off.

I called the number from the manufacturer that was listed in the instruction booklet that it said to call to trouble shoot. I believe the company was in China. No one answered but I received a call back later in the evening.

The person I spoke to first of all had never heard of QVC and claimed that QVC didn’t have an authorization to sell the item. I told her over and over again that I had seen the item on QVC on TV and exactly what QVC was and she kept insisting that they weren’t authorized to sell the ice maker or any of their products and so she didn’t want to help me.

Eventually I convinced her that I just wanted her to trouble shoot turning the item on. She went through the same steps that I had already gone through over and over as were explained in the manual that came packed inside.

She ended up telling me that the item was defective and to send it back. I purchased a new ice maker at our local Sam’s Club for $30 less that is a good name brand, looks very similar with the same functions and works fantastic! I love QVC but will be more aware of where the manufacturer of a product is from now on before I purchase!.

A few years ago I bought the version without the pump and recently I bought the variant with the pump. Overall, I am satisfied with the two, but both have a design flaw with an internal road of potentially serious side effect.

The prioritises water drain hose at the rear. Only after the drain port filled with water will flow to the removable water tank. Unless Destape, drain and clean the drain hole regularly, starting cultivation potentially deadly bacteria.

Of: My first dehumidifier stopped function properly within a month warranty expires. The method of failure was such that the compressor does not turn off (even after turning on the control panel) unless unplugged.

Since the compressor was not closing to complete the cycle of rest, fans never turn back on. The result was a compressor that generates a significant amount of heat, noise and odor electric components.

Despite hotter have discussed the problems, I have found the value to be sufficient to justify the purchase of another of the same brand, regardless of the breakdown shortly after the warranty has expired.

I have remorse for the serious buyer to go with this trash instead of a step can open one. CONS: – The sensor can is this is terrible. You have to hold your hand about 4 inches directly in front of the sensor to activate.

The sensor pick even when working directly on the trash such as cleaning coffee or empty storage containers. If it takes more than 10 seconds slam the door in his hands. I have had several cases where the door closed on me and gave me food splattered all over the eyelid.

I got used to the sensor directly pointing out and pressing his knee against the sensor so it does not close on me. It would have been easier to use a trash can step can. – Open button not keep the lid open indefinitely.

Will remain open for a minute or so and will shut down again. If you plan to use the can frequently and want the lid remains open, you can open the lid and change the button on the back off. PROS: – Fits standard garbage bags.

The main reason I went with this trash instead of mere humans brand. – There are not many cans with a lid opening butterfly. IMO. – more efficient stainless steel stays clean and does not show smudges.

– does not use batteries. greener solution. Chupa you have to purchase the magazine separately. Especially at this price point. A many of the comments and videos are impressed buyer for a new device.

The novelty is quickly lost when it comes to functionality. I can not imagine the sensor that lasts more than a couple of years. Do yourself a favor. Go with a trash passing style.

Taking a look at the @newairusa Clear ice 40. 🧊 A Clear ice making machine that pumps out perfectly see through ice 40 pounds a day. Setup was ridiculously easy. Just run some luke warm water and a soft cloth to wipe the interior down.

Fill the reservoir with water and hit the power button. It’s literally that easy. I have been using it for a few days now and it produces about 3 and a 1/2 pounds of ice every 2 hours. The only con I can really see with it is when the ice drops it stays together.

You just give it a little love tap with the provided scoop and it separates rather easy. I’ve made a ton of different drinks with it and the ice seems to last longer than the cubes my my refrigerator makes and obviously they’re better looking.

Speaking of looks I really like the fact that it has a stainless steel body and is easy to clean. I think the overall design was very well-thought-out and I’m happy to have this for an addition to the bar room.

I feel I’m going to have this thing running 24 hours A-day with all the drinks coming out of this house. If you guys are in the market for one I would definitely suggest giving this a look. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I’ve only had this machine a couple weeks now and used it about 4 days in that amount of time. So far it’s worked perfectly. From start up to first ice has ranged from 30-45 mins then about every 10 mins after that.

The ice is very similar to that you find in most hotel machines. I have it on a counter in my washroom and it’s pretty quiet. I docked it one star because for the 1 con I have for it. A full cleaning it takes a bit of time.

The opening to the reservoir is small and hard to get my hand in there to give it a good wipe down. The ice dump compartment is easier to access but still small. There are two small filters that have to be removed and the bottom drain lays horizontally at the bottom of the machine.

You have to tip the unit to get it to drain the final bit of water out. Then you have to run vinegar/water through it making one tray of ice then empty and run another batch of clean water to flush. It’s not hard just time consuming.

So, docking it one star may or may not be fair since this is the only ice machine I’ve owned. Others may be easier or harder to clean. How will it hold up over the next few years? Don’t know but if I can get 5 years with out issues I’d be thrilled.

Overall I’m happy with the purchase.

I am a proud barista at home kinda gal so I like to make coffee from home 99% of the time to save money! This ice machine takes my at home coffee recipes to the next level with the super clear, pretty ice cubes! The ice looks exactly like Starbucks ice!! Plussss it keeps me from yelling at my husband for not refilling the ice cubes trays! I like that the machine is easy to use, you literally just add water and turn it on, and let it do it’s thing.

The machine is fairly loud while it’s making the ice, but once the ice is made, the noise stops, so it’s not going all day long. Overall, I really like the machine, and I think it’s great for anyone who uses a lot of ice during the day/week, or someone who doesn’t have a fridge that makes its own ice (like me), or for someone who’s husband doesn’t ever refill the ice cube trays (like me).

I like the short time it takes to make the ice cubes and it is very easy to fill the water bin. The cubes are a great size, I can fit them in a water bottle (most of the cubes anyway) and that is convenient on the hot days we get here in Arizona.

I have very little counter space in my small apartment and it fits nicely in the one spot I could put it without it being on the floor. I don’t like that it is a bit noisy, but I have learned to tune most of it out.

It also has to sit in the upright position for 24 hours BEFORE you plug it in and use it. Along time ago I bought a refrigerator and it was delivered laying down in the back of personal van and all the freon (used at that time) leaked out and ruined $180 in food my wife and had just bought and put in it.

That was a lot of money in the 1970’s.

I was looking at getting one of these as a housewarming gift for a good friend, and was surprised that I hadnt left a review before! Weve been using this since March of 2019 and its still going strongly in spite of everyday usage.

Vremi is one of my favorite brands, I have yet to be disappointed with either the quality or longevity of their products. Since getting this ice maker weve been able to stop fighting with the one built into our fridge, and actually have ice when we want/need it.

I absolutely recommend this little beast of a machine.

If you are an Ice fanatic like me, then you know that Nugget ice is the Best (chewable, sonic ice)! I have been looking for an ice maker that not only makes nugget ice but doesn’t have to be connected to a water line (so I could put it wherever I wanted) and came across this awesome NewAir Ice maker (SKU# NIM030SS00) which allows for both an automatic water line and manual refillable water tank and can be stored just about anywhere since it’s fairly compact.

I love how it makes ice in just 10 minutes and if you have any left, you can store it in the freezer! If you leave it in the machine, whatever isn’t used before it melts will be recycled into new ice.

I actually either use it up in from the machine or let it sit in the machine over night and it seems to keep fairly well (in the winter). I love that it includes a little scooper as well so I’m all set.

The machine doesn’t seem to use much power and is pretty quiet when it’s on. I use a lot of ice and seems to be the loudest when it’s generating the ice. Overall I’m in love with my new ice machine and honestly have been making drinks just to use it! What drink is next?.

We recently moved into a new house and our ice maker has not worked since we moved in! Getting a new fridge is a larger undertaking than we are ready for at the moment so this countertop ice maker has saved our day! Not only is it the perfect size on our counter, it makes perfect nugget ice which is what I have always wanted for iced coffee in the morning and tasty beverages in the evening.

When we eventually get a new fridge I can see this being very handy for parties and having ice throughout the event or maybe I will so used to this perfect nugget ice this is going to live in the kitchen permanently.

I really can’t believe anyone would give this product more than 2 stars … the ice melts SO fast as soon as it hits moderately cold water it’s gone, like it’s already slippery wet and melty in texture before it hits liquid.

We have been transferring the ice into our freezer and it still melts faster somehow than other ice. The machine is SO loud we can hear it at night all the way from our bedroom. The fans on the side blow out hot air – I’m talking you cannot have any chocolate products within even 4 feet of this thing.

It melted all our Halloween candy because my husband forgot. The basket of ice it makes is such a small amount like 3 scoops full. There’s no where to set your scoop either it should have a little sling for it to rest in on the side.

All around I would NOT recommend this machine to anyone.

I’ve had a total of three. My sister loved it so much when she hosted for Christmas, I bought her one as a gift! She received hers and it lasted a whole week. They sent her replacement and she literally keeps it turned off when she’s not using it so she won’t have any problems with it.

Then there’s my original purchase from nah last year. I did find it odd that QVC wasn’t even offering an extended warranty on it. But, I ignored my reasoning and considered the manufacturer warranty would suffice.

Turns out it only lasted a year. Guess what? My machine is broken, right after the year was up! Don’t waste your money! If QVC won’t offer warranties, th) you should take that as a hint considering all the money they make of off warranties.

I’ve had a lot of these types of ice makers. This one is very sleek looking and the noise level is reasonable. It makes very nice, not really wet ice very quickly. The drain is on the bottom and the opening is level with the base so when you drain the water you don’t have any sitting in a channel or have to turn and shake it to get all the water out to prevent mold.

It seems the electronics are bit sensitive so you really do need to let it sit for 24 hours and then may still encounter a situation like I did when the add water light was on when it was full of water.

So I just drained it, waited another day and all was well. Go figure. All in all, it seems to be a very functional and easy to clean ice maker and definitely worth the price.

I have both the small nugget and this ice maker by Crownful. The small nugget is much taller, heavier, and makes more ice, but it also louder and not for under a countertop. This machine is perfect for the countertop, is quite quiet, makes enough ice for about 8 glasses at a time, and will automatically make more as you take ice out until it runs out of water.

The sensor at the top will tell you when to add more water. The ice is the domed shape with the hollow center, which those of us who are ice chewers know makes that satisfying crunch! The ice tastes clean, and the unit is easy to clean as well.

Perfect for under upper cabinets, in RV’s, and for dorm rooms. I don’t have an ice maker in my fridge so I use mine for kitchen usage.

I’m very impressed by this compact ice maker! It makes ice extremely fast and also makes so much in so little time. The design looks great and the panel works very well. My family and I love it! This is a great product and I will definitely recommend it to all my friends and family as you cannot go wrong with this product.

I agree with all the reviews in that it makes a lot of ice in a very short time without a lot of noise. My only problem is that the ice melts too quickly. If I dump the tray into the freezer it is so wet that it freezes together in a solid clump.

There’s nothing in the manual that addresses thos issue.

If you want the good ice, but don’t want to spend 4 figures and give up a cabinet, this countertop nugget ice maker is wonderful. It’s got a few quirks and flaws, but it has more positives. It looks good, the side tank makes it easy to refill, and it makes really nice ice.

It is a little noisy, but not all the time. Your old ice maker has a cycle of different noises – it runs water into the thing, runs the compressor to freeze it and then dumps a bunch of big ice cubes into the bin all at once.

This little ice maker mostly just makes the compressor humming sound and a constant plip-plip-plip of little ice nuggets dropping when it gets into its groove. Other times you might hear a funny, squeaky sound, or the sound of a dump truck’s brakes as it tries to avoid driving through the nitroglycerine plant.

Either way, the ice maker then puts itself through a defrost cycle and the noise is gone. I think that’s the difference between buying it here at Best Buy, where you get the ‘Opal 2. 0’ where they probably addressed the weird noises that everyone buying it from Amazon complained about.

This thing keeps the ice pretty well, even over night, but there is one flaw – the ice nuggets melt slightly but then refreeze together (a sign that it’s pretty well insulated) and they don’t spread out evenly in the bin.

I programmed mine to stop making ice at bedtime and start again at 5am so it’s nice and full the next morning, but the pile of ice forms a peak towards the dispenser and triggers whatever the ice full sensor is and it never started making any more ice.

I don’t know why the ice doesn’t bounce down the hill better, but I’ve made a habit of manipulating the ice pile often so it’s all towards the front and there’s room for more ice to drop. This ice maker is great, but get the warranty! Ice makers have lots of moving parts that spend all day encountering water and enduring its phase change in freezing temperatures.

Ice is brutal! Nobody on this planet has ever had an ice maker that never once quit working.

I didn’t know nugget ice makers even existed until it was included on an article with expensive items you don’t need but don’t regret buying. This was out of my comfortable price range but I needed something to keep me cool through the summer as we have no AC.

This ice maker has helped get me through the hot 104°+ days. I honestly just snack on this ice at the hottest parts of the day and it cools my body down so much. Any other ice maker could do that too yes, but this one makes small, gentle on your teeth, easy to chew ice.

I only use bottled water and drinks also taste so much better, especially with tea, soda, or just by itself. It does take a bit for the bin to fill up but I have the app to schedule it to turn on an hour and a half to two hours before I’m even up so there will be plenty ready when I am.

Once you have that first batch, it’s easy for it to keep up the rest of the day so you never run out. It’s not refrigerated but the ice keeps well that even if you leave it for several hours, there will still be a lot waiting because it takes a while for it to melt completely.

Now the downside of all this is that, the upkeep is a lot of work. It asks to be sanitized once a week at least. This cleaning cycle is a tiny bit of bleach with water, then a few rinse cycles. I’m sure this is to prolong the life of the ice maker but that seems excessive so I usually stretch it to once every two weeks.

To offset that, I empty any remaining water from that day and wipe down the bin, the reservoir, and all along the walls every night before putting fresh water in for the morning. The descale warning already came up for me a month into using the maker but it’s regularly on all day so that might be why.

It’s the same process as before but with vinegar and has to be left for 18 hours so you’ll be a day without ice. Other than that, this has been one of the best purchases I‘ve ever made. I just hope it lasts for a few years before it gives out because of the hefty price.

If you can afford it, don’t mind the regular maintenance, and want your own sonic ice at your disposal, it’s well worth getting.

We purchased the GE Opal 2. 0 after our FirstBuild Opal (1. 0) failed after only 2-1/2 years. Reviews on the GE branded Opal were mixed, but we decided to purchase because we really liked the ice the first Opal made.

We have had the Opal 2. 0 for a couple of weeks and we are very pleased with it. It was quite a bit more expensive than the previous one, so we hope it will last a great deal longer. The product is improved over our original Opal.

Thus far, we have had no issues with the machine indicating it needs water when the reservoir/side tank was completely full. This was a constant problem with the previous Opal. The side tank has about 25 percent less capacity than the previous Opal’s side tank.

Not sure why it was necessary, since the two items function identically, but the smaller tank is adequate for regular home use. We use bottled water and have not had any problems with mineral deposits.

The cleaning requirements per the user manual are not difficult, but cleaning and descaling weekly is inconvenient and not realistic. The available cleaning kit is about $30, good for two cleanings–we will use white vinegar instead to clean it.

The new unit is a good bit quieter than the old one, a great improvement. We purchased the item on Amazon for $579 plus tax (shipping was free as we are Prime members). It remains to be seen how long the unit will last and whether the service life is as long as it should be given the price paid.

If it doesn’t last any longer than the previous version, we will be most disappointed. We would recommend the product for those who are really into the Sonic-style ice nuggets (as we are) and are willing to fork over $600+.

We like our ice maker… this is our second one. The first one we had an issue with. We ran it for about a week, but when it was turned off it would short out or something. The lights on the front panel would light up crazy, like a slot machine…??? My ONLY issues at this time are: The unit is NOT cold enough to keep the made ice whole.

If the tray fills and you don’t empty it RIGHT away the ice begins to melt. Then your left with a big cube of partial ice cubes. So you can’t just run it and use casually. Also I make and dump into a container in my freezer.

The holding basket does not hold enough ice to just run it and go about your day. So given the above two issues I have to consciously have ice making time. Basically babysit the unit while making ice to refill our supply.

Also due to the shape of the ice (think thick wine glass without the stem, the ice forms around a frozen metal rod), I find it melts faster then a solid formed cube. I have a Yeti bottle that I keep with me 24/7 with water, and this ice does not last as long as like ‘Bag ice’.

Overall this product fills our needs, but has some issues and annoyances.

First, I would like to start this review with some positive feedback. The machine makes three different types of Ice; small, medium, and large. Honestly, the only setting I like is the large because the other sides seem too small.

The Ice Makes makes Ice very quickly so that is always a plus just ensure you wash it really well first time use and discard the first batch of ice it smells like plastic. After that everything should run smooth.

I think it does not run my electric bill since its plugged in all the time and I have not seen the bill higher than usual. The only side not on this is that the machine after six months broke and stopped producing ice.

It had a crack on the upper tray where the ice is scooped from. The only reason I have given 5 stars is because customer service has been great and even though the part that broke was on backorder Charles was able to replace the whole unit for me.

Produces three types of quality ice cylinders in record time. It can keep up in Texas summers with 30+ guests. We like to store gallon bags the week before the party/get together and pour into the ice maker to keep the supply going without a hitch.

It is quiet and the refill and cleaning of the machine is super simple. We keep a 2 quart pitcher next to the machine which near our dish drying rack and just refill nightly, so that the machine is ready to go every morning.

The ice basket holds about a half gallon of quality ice cylinders. They stay frozen for a long time in the drinks and are always fully formed before being released into the basket. The machine keeps the ice frozen for a good amount of time and and has sensor to know when it needs to resupply.

We have recommended to several of our family members and they have purchased either this model or a larger model to meet their needs.

I bought this in December 2019. I don’t have a fridge that dispenses water and ice which is what prompt me to buy this product. It works okay and it does its job. It makes ice fast, but its in small quantities.

The ice can turn your cold drink fast, but it melts fast as well. Often, I have to fill the water well but that is because this is a portable ice machine, and they ain’t big to begin with, so its understandable.

Today, I found black particle substances that didn’t seem to be mold. It had a bit of solid feeling to it rather than soft and squishy that wet mold usually feel like. Don’t know how it came to be, but it lasted me this long.

Which isnt that long at all. I purchased the coverage plan when I first got this ice maker. Does not cover for what happened today. Just thought you folks know.

I’ve had my ice maker for about a year now. It still works just fine and makes lots of ice. The out of water light has quit working though. And it doesn’t keep the ice cold once it’s made. It starts to melt and you have to dry it off in the basket to put it in your freezer.

But it still freezes all the ice cubes together. So it’s very functional it does work as stated in description. None of the ice makers tell specifically that once the ice is made & in the basket it starts to slowly melt.

Love this ice maker so much saved me money on getting a new ice making freezer. I love drinking iced coffees in the am but use to find myself with barely any ice in the tray now I have ice all day. The machine was affordable at Walmart.

Easy to set up also all you have to do is pour a bunch of water under your tray and place the tray on top. If you dont use up all the ice it melts back into water and is turned back into ice its a really cool kitchen item too have.

after a bit of trial & error with cube adjustment it works fantastic. High ice production and very quick turnaround. You are able to manually fill but you will need to do it often with the amount of output.

In 2014 I purchased an Opal ice-maker for my wife. It has been perfect and it actually lasted a lot longer than I expected it to. We have been nothing but happy about with it, and she tells everyone how much she loves it.

Since it was getting old and requiring more attention, I decided to get her a new model. 3 months ago she got a new version with the side tank and it has worked great, until yesterday. Yes the old model, 7+ years and no issues.

The GE version, dead at 3 months. I shouldn’t say dead, but the water pump died. Luckily I am a guy that is very reliant, and knowing the quality and reliability of a GE product, when I got rid of the old original Opal, I saved the old parts.

I placed the 7+ year old water pump in the new Opal and it works perfectly again. Even though we love this ice-maker, if you are not mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot mechanical/electrical/plumbing issues, then you should look else where from this GE product.

I steer away from anything GE since I know their quality, I was and Field Service Engineer for GE in their Healthcare business and only lasted 2 years since I couldn’t stand trying to repair instruments with cheap parts so GE could save money.

All GE products are crap, this new version of Opal being no different, And good luck trying to get them to service what they sell, They are famous for their Customer-NO-Service. I am surprised that Amazon would even sell this kind of crap.

The GE moto “GE-You can get better, but you can’t pay more. ” GE will even make you lie on a review as to not drive business away. I will post your suggestions for my edit on the other sites that I left this same review on.

This Hamilton Beach Ice Maker is a great size. It is easy to setup straight out of the box and easy to use and maintain. I like that it’s easy to fill right from the front. It makes a great amount of ice a day, 9 cubes every 6-7 minutes.

I like that it doesn’t have a ton of buttons. I like that it makes two sizes of ice cubes. It’s easy to tell when it’s full and when you need to refill the water. This ice cube maker has been a real asset in our house.

Gotta love ice on demand.

My Hamilton Beach Ice Maker is so easy to use. Fill with water turn on and that’s it. Makes 28 lbs of ice a day. Makes different size ice cubes. Comes with basket and scooper. I don’t have to go out and buy bags of ice anymore.

This works great. Fits perfect on my counter top. The compact size even allows me to take it to family and friends houses instead of buying ice. I really like this ice maker. I would recommend.

Positive: Makes ice quickly, is very quiet, and looks nice. compact Negatives: Although the machine works as advertised, it makes smaller ice cubes than other machines we have used in the past, even at largest cube setting.

Where you may us 1 or 2 ice cubes in a cocktail, these melt so fast you need 4-5. The machine is compact, which is a positive for space, but a negative for the amount of ice it can hold Overall the machine is working fine.

This is our 4th ice maker in 3 years. First with Hamilton Beach, so we hope it will last longer. I’d be willing to pay more for a good ice maker that would last but ALL of the brands seem to be made very similar.

if not by the same manufacturer. Suggest emptying out ice tray and putting ice in a bag in the freezer to harden up more as these machines are not freezers, just ice makers. The unused ice melts and then goes back through the freezing process over and over.

I use a lot of ice throughout the day and got tired of making ice in my refrigerator freezer, found it annoying to keep refilling trays. I decided to try this ice maker. I figured it wouldn’t be too good because they do not keep the ice cold.

Wow! Was I pleasantly surprised. I set the ice size for Large. The first three batches came out quickly. The ice was small and rather thin, but I was satisfied. When the fourth batch came out the ice bullets were fatter and much larger.

Since then all the ice has been large and lasts a long time in a glass before melting. I think the refrigerant needed to settle from being transported by the mail carrier. Within 3 hours I filled up a one gallon freezer bag with ice.

I keep it for backup. I just let the ice stay in the ice maker basket and scoop out what I need all day. It lasts a very long time and I have never run out of ice just scooping it from the machine. It is very quiet.

I highly recommend this product. If you get one let it sit upright 2 hours before plugging it in so the Freon can settle. Don’t judge the ice till the third or fourth batch comes out.

The ice companies may close due to this machine. I love it. I used to buy lots of ice because mine tastes funny. Anyway. it was super easy to get running. I got a gallon of water from the store. And taadaa I had ice.

It makes bullet shaped ice that is hollow in the middle. As the ice is used or melts it makes more. I have no complaints at all. It doesn’t make a huge amount of ice, maybe 64oz a batch. It’s pretty quiet running.

I ordered this icemaker for a get together I was having at my Lake Home. Through no fault of the seller, the item was lost in transit and didn’t arrive until 3 weeks later. Long after my get together.

I requested a refund but it was past the allowable return date. I appealed to the seller, explaining the circumstances and they were wonderful. Very understanding and accommodating. They not only issued me a full credit but told me to keep the ice maker for my inconvenience.

These are top-notch standup sellers. Thank you and Buy with Confidence!! This ice maker is a real workhorse. It just keeps going and going. It puts the ice maker in my Samsung side by side to shame. I originally bought it for parties, so I would never run out of ice.

But now it’s so great I use it every day. It’s a little noisy at first, but then you get used to it. A small price to pay for all the ice you get out of it. I highly recommend it.

I was thrilled to receive this very weighty item, which is not disappointing. The whirs and whistles on it, if you will, are fun and an “ice-breaker” during a conversation, ha. It does, however, take a fair amount of time to get a bag of ice, and the cubes are different, not square or round, but in between, and cute and fit better in a glass and are not jagged on their edges, like the ice I was chipping away day after day.

I would say if you need a lot of ice, allot a chunk of time to accomplish the task. Otherwise, I still love it and am glad I have it and now I don’t need ice for a couple of days and no mess or fuss.

The silicone plug pulls up well to drain the excess water when the cycle is complete. All in all, i am very happy with the convenience of not getting my hands freezing by chipping away and cleaning up mess after mess day in and day out.

Just received the counter top ice maker. It is smaller than I expected(which is great) and it is a nice looking, stainless steel appliance. It is simple to use. I put water in, plugged it in and hit start.

I then checked the start time. In one hour I had cylindrical ice cubes and they continued to drop in the basket until all the water was gone. It was amazing. So many ice cubes in such a short time. I had to praise it to all my grandchildren who were also amazed.

No need to ever run out of ice again. I highly recommend it to everyone who is considering the purchase of an ice machine. I had no reservations when I ordered it as Hammacher has never disappointed me.

From day one the size make her only made about 33 pounds of ice in 24 hours. After 15 months of gentle use it finally quit working and it was passed my one year warranty so I hired a technician to come out.

He knew exactly what it was he said every unit that he has ever worked on leaks the coolant or refrigerant after about 15 months. It’s not worth $500 since it will cost me $250 to have it fixed. But what do you expect since it is made in China.

Instead of everyone using the fridge ice maker we set up our ice maker on the counter!! What a perfect item to have for your holidays and parties!! NO extra coolers for ice. no line at the fridge to get ice and of course everyone could scoop their own and it just kept making as the day went on! The blue is the most gorgeous color too!! We were totally impressed with the ease of the Ice Maker and the fact it did not take up a lot of counter space!.

This product was great. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, whether you own a freezer with a ice maker or not. Enough ice is made in less than 10 minutes for at least 2 cups or more. Perfect size cubes.

Holds about a half gallon of water and takes up very little space. EVERYONE should have one.

After having my Kenmore model icemaker from Sears for 15 years, I was thrilled to see that Whirlpool had almost the same exact model but a little better, because it had an interior light and changeable water filter.

Since Sears was no longer selling freestanding icemakers, I purchased this one at Best Buy for $1,750 and that was after shopping around for the best price. Thankfully, I purchased an extended 5 year warranty for an additional $395.

00. Unfortunately, after only 10 months, it stopped working! It was still under the 1 year manufacturers warranty, so I called Whirlpool for a service call. First service call I was told that the unit needed a new compressor and evaporator.

The next technician showed up and concluded the problem was misdiagnosed, through no fault of the first technician, but the fault of the repair center tech that he spoke with. So now, I was told it needed a new computer control board, basically the brain box.

Well, that needed to be ordered and a 3rd service call scheduled. Well, the 3rd tech shows up with the computer control board, spends almost 2 hours removing the old and installing the new board, only to find out that the part is defective! He informs the office that the part is no good and is told that they are on back order.

So when they get the part in, they will call me to schedule a 4th service call. At this point, we’re 2 weeks into the repairs and me purchasing 20 lb. bags of ice at the gas station every other day for my work.

Not really happy right now. I really do like the icemaker though when it’s working. It’s convenient for me to fill up my cooler in my kitchen before work and I use the ice every day for my soda at home.

If you do purchase this unit, you MUST spend the extra money for the extended warranty and expect repairs often. I tried a commercial icemaker before this and ended up returning it. It was horrible! Big, noisy and I had to break the ice up with a wrench!.

So where to begin. I have my ice machine delivered and it has obviously been previously returned because I find the brass fastener from the water line that was cut still on it. Then as I open it, I see that it has a filter compartment but you have to buy the filters separately (2 for $49 when you go to register the item).

$1,800 ice machine but company too cheap to include a filter. But wait, there’s more. Go to install and realize that the machine also does not come with a water pump. Something you only find out if you read through the description, the tech, and finally when you are in the Q&A where the company decides to communicate for the first time that this is a gravity drain device.

we are talking AFTER ratings. But dont despair Whirlpool will sell you this on their site for an additional $555. 59 on their site as well. Folks you are looking at a $2,400 ice machine that is marketed at $1829.

99 BEFORE you invest in all the required accessories. But hey, maybe if you order one you will get one that was not already returned by a customer.

We have had KitchenAid of a similar model which lasted us 11 years. It just got hot and stopped making ice one day. We called a repair person and while it could’ve been repaired, the repairs would’ve cost 30% of what a new one would cost.

At that point we decided to look for a new one with a warranty. We happened to find this one at a big box store which is unusual because this is not a typical stock item. As it turned out, someone had special ordered it and decided they didn’t want it.

Their loss our gain. Not only did we get an exceptional deal on this as the big box wanted it out of inventory; it had never even been removed from the box! It is the same exact type of icemaker we had as a KitchenAid.

Since Whirlpool makes both Whirlpool and KitchenAid, it makes sense. It was easy to install since all the connections were exactly the same. Since we purchased it has been making ice well. Cubes are small and consistent and it does great job.

I’ve only had it for two weeks so time will tell but right now we’re very happy with the purchase.

This is basically the same model that I replaced after about 15 years of service. Works as advertised and produces a nice small clear cube. Previous model stated that you had to have the filter in place in order to properly run the machine.

This model if I understrand the instructions do not require the filter, but recommended. If fact ice maker does not come with a filter previously installed, only a cap in the filter hole. Whirlpool includes with the instructions a certificate for 10 percent off on you frist order of filters.

However, I was able to do a lot better in pricing by ordering them online thru another distributor. Same filter I bought for my previous Whirlpool Ice Maker. It is a great ice maker to have around for parties and general ice requirements.

Never have to go to the store to buy additonal ice.

Ice maker has never made thick ice, as described in the specification. Ice that is being made is OK. When I first got this appliance, it quit working. I had a service team under contract with Whirlpool come out and they determined that it would need several parts that are out of stock.

A few days later, the machine started working again on its own. Have not heard any word from the repair company since then about when or if they will return. Since the machine is working now, I will not have any repair work done.

BUT, what I think should happen is Whirlpool should replace this machine with a new one that meets all specs and isn’t so sketchy about working.
