20 Best Hip Replacement For Athletes (2023 Updated)
Hip replacement surgery is a procedure in which a damaged hip joint is replaced with an artificial joint. It is typically done when other treatments, such as physical therapy and medication, have failed to relieve pain and improve hip function.
Hip replacement surgery can be performed on people of all ages, but it is most commonly done on older adults. Athletes may also require hip replacement surgery if they have severely damaged their hip joint from a sports injury.
The hip joint is a ball-and-socket joint. The ball is called the femoral head and it sits in a socket called the acetabulum. The joint is held together by ligaments and muscles.
During hip replacement surgery, the damaged femoral head is removed and an artificial joint, called a prosthesis, is put in its place. The prosthesis may be made of metal, plastic, or ceramic.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes about two hours. After the surgery, you will be taken to a recovery room where you will be monitored for any complications.
You will likely stay in the hospital for three to five days after your surgery. During this time, you will begin physical therapy to help you regain your strength and mobility.
Most people experience a significant reduction in pain and an improvement in hip function after hip replacement surgery. However, it is important to note that hip replacement surgery is a major surgery and there are risks involved.
These risks include infection, bleeding, blood clots, and joint dislocation.
After your surgery, you will need to take precautions to reduce your risk of complications, such as avoiding high-impact activities, not smoking, and attending physical therapy sessions.

I want support due to a 2-3 mos. old groin pull and a long-term, low-level labrum strain in my hip. This one short does both well. One recommendation for future manufacturing would be to avoid a mid-line seam in the back.
I find that irritates at the “tail bone” level. I cover over the area with a thin neoprene pad inside the short. So, have something for that, in case. I am 5′ 10″, 165# and found an extra large fit well; they run tight.
I researched compression shorts for many months, even years. I have several pair, and I just received these today. After putting them on, I am delighted. These are the best compression shorts for my aching left hip.
I ran 12 miles two days ago, and after putting these on, I think I’ll go for a run today. But only AFTER I buy another pair of these shorts. They feel great, and they’re at an unbeatable price.
The shirts fit my son very well and we thought they would be awesome. During the first wear the back of the shirts completely ripped outalond one of the seams. We returned the shirts and are going to try another pair.
Hopefully this was a fluke. Like I said they fit very good and felt like they gave him good support.

Compression strap system for slim and secure profile Easy and secure attachment for bike LED-light Back plate Front and back visual reflective points Includes 1. 5 liter compact hydration bladder Pack weight: 380g.
I bought the hip pack about a month ago. Very comfortable to wear. Had to check a few times to see if it fell off cause I couldn’t feel it on lol. My only complaint is the clip for the magnetic mouth piece broke instantly when I tried to attach it to the belt.
Unfortunately they are out of stock so take extra care attaching it. I now just tuck it in the waisted tightened. And it’s no problem. But wish it didn’t break so easily.
The quality is great but smaller than I expected so I have ordered the larger pack. I just needed room for phone, multi tool, Co2, and some gels. After filling the water pouch it becomes cramped. Again the quality of the pack is very good just too minimal for me.
The magnetic tube clip is cheap and broke the first tome I tried to move it. I ordered some extras to see if it was just a clip with weak plastic. I would recommend it to minimalist.
It is the most comfortable waist hydro pack that I have used. I have tried two other well known brands. Quality is always top notch with the USWE product. The only thing I would improve is to place the hose outlet at the bottom of the bladder, so you can easily drink all the fluid.
The bladder it comes with is made for a backpack, and you have to turn it on its side, which puts the hose outlet at the side. Other than that it is completely awesome.
Good things come to those who sweat! Sweet Sweat Hip Bands are designed with premium-grade materials to enhance a variety of hip, leg, and glute workouts for the athlete who wants to take their resistance training to the next level.
Includes 3 levels of resistance and a mesh carry bag for when you’re on the go.
I do crossfit and we do a lot of mix cardio and strength training which can put a lot of stress on the joints, especially the legs. When I got these, I was a little hesitant, but to my surprise the resistance was amazing and strong, it come with 3 and you can see the range of resistance on them from Least to most; therefore, I appreciate the strengths.
I need the support badly with my legs, my hips, and the shaping of my lower body. I have had this product for a year now and I can’t complain. My experience with these bands have been great; my glutes, legs and hip are being shape and they are made very well, no matter how much pulling I have done to them they are still intact.
Now, I will admit, I do not use them consistently, so I have not been able to go to the hardest resistance band and I am not walking around with Megan Thee Stallion body, but I do love my Hip Bands and I can see the difference within this year!.
I purchased these due to wanting to switch up my workouts from home. They are great quality! I love that they come with three different resistances. The product is of great quality material and I love that the bands have some grip to them so they don’t slide during the workout.
These have been a great addition to my at-home routine.
I have seen the very popular Bands on my social media feed and thought I don’t think I can do this or commit. But then I ordered the bands, it could of been to see what the hype was about or to feel like I am one of the fit girls.
And guess what!!! these Sweet Sweat Hip Bands proved both. Now I do it for my health and for myself. I recommend these bands to a begginner and a pro at working out. I carry them everywhere I go.
Bodymate Support is very uniquely designed in aiding with pain from muscle strains or injury at hip, groin, quad, thigh, hamstring or sciatica nerve pain.
I occasionally have hip soreness after walking on my treadmill, so thought I would give this Bodymate Compression Hip Brace a try. I wore it for about 60 minutes of treadmill time and it felt very supportive.
It was not restrictive at all and the breathable neoprene is comfortable and cool – I could easily wear this brace for long periods of time if I choose. As a bonus, this brace also adds a good bit of lower back support.
The fit is quite versatile and allows you to use it on either the right or left leg/hip. It has very strong Velcro closures. In fact, the Velcro is so strong it takes a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, you can put it on and remove it fairly easily.
It may, however, be more difficult for someone with limited hand strength. All in all, it’s a pretty good product for anyone out there looking for a bit of relief from occasional hip pain.
My daughter and I suffer big time with sciatica, and I also suffer with arthritis. We’ve had to go as far as getting shots to help. But I’ve had this for a few days and even though it is small on me, though stretches to fit.
I did a few full days work wearing this and was shocked that my pain was lessened as much as it was. I definitely am positive this brace is both my daughter and my answer for sheer relief that I bought me a larger size and I am giving this one to my daughter I want to thank Bodymate Compression Brace makers for answering my pleas for less pain.
We highly recommend it for those who have or suffer from pain in their aciatic nerve, since it helps reduce it and makes you feel more confident since it adapts to your waist and thigh in an easy way, besides being very comfortable.

The 3L Hip Pack Pro from EVOC is a highly technical, ventilation optimised and back-free pack that carries your drink in its hydration bladder (not included) and with plenty of room for all your ride essentials.
It s ideal for short to medium rides and keeps your carry weight to a minimum allowing you to go faster for longer. Airo Flex is an extremely sturdy material that is both permeable and flexible. EVOC use it for their top-quality hip belts to ensure optimum load transfer to the hips, with simultaneous maximum ventilation, for the utmost carrying comfort.
The Venti Flap system enables folding the back piece away for maximum ventilation, and thus enhanced carrying comfort. During longer ascents, you can increase the distance to your back by opening the adjustment strap to boost air circulation.
During descents you can reduce the distance again, which then ensures that the backpack sits firmly and is completely neutral to movement. Back light clip Hip belt pouch, Key holder, Nutrition, Mobile phone & tool compartments Two bottle holders that are easy to reach and have extra safety fixation This pack has plenty of room for all your riding gear with a hip belt pouch and specific pockets/compartments for your tools, phone, nutrition and keys.
It s got a 1. 5L hydration system (bladder not included) and a dialled in system offering extra comfort that s called Ventiflap. This basically means you can easily increase the distance between the pack and your back for climbing then tighten it to your hips when you hit the downhills.
An Airflow contact system offers superb ventilation and there s two bottle carriers for carrying extra drinks for those longer rides. The 3L Hip Pack Pro offers a great alternative to a traditional backpack saving you weight without taking any risks by having to leave ride essentials behind.
I use to ride with a couple buddy’s one of which was older. He always wore a lumbar pack. I always thought It was on the goofy side. However now that I am older I have been humbled and understand why that was his riding pack of choice.
It’s low center of gravity, out of the way, not too big, and doesn’t move around. I wear a 30 size pants and the strap is maxed out on the minimal size you can fasten. The extra side pockets make it easy to expand your water capacity or to stash small things.
It’s very well built and the straps and zippers make me feel confident it will last for many many years. The magnet retention is a nice touch However can be cumbersome if you are pedaling on the bike.
Because it’s small and getting the tube back on the waist magnet takes some muscle memory to be done smoothly. Might opt for the sleeve type magnet retention system like similar brands in the future.
Overall it’s pricy. But getting what you pay for is (mostly) always the motto.
I have never been a fan of hydration packs. I tired a camel back several years ago and the water always got hot and it just never worked for me. So I always just carried water on my bike in the cage and a couple of bottles in my backpack along with my tools and other necessities.
Problem is my backpack started to nag at my back, and let’s face it, wearing a backpack is hot and uncomfortable. I started stashing things in my handlebars and everywhere else I could think of it to prevent having to carry my backpack.
That left me with one bottle of water and no snacks, or an extra layer, or whatever else I might need. I started looking into hip packs with the intent of having extra space, hoping it wouldn’t bother me like a backpack.
I saw this one and decided to get it with the hydration pack. If I didn’t like it I would just use the two bottle pockets. Turns out the Evoc has a ventilation pad between your lower back and the bladder.
And guess what? It works. The water never gets warm. Of course it is only 1. 5 liters, and I drink it all before it may have a chance to. Anyway. there is room for my wallet, a couple of tools and two or three energy bars.
And it doesn’t bother my back. You do have to work on getting it to the right location on your back or it will flop around on jumps and stuff. And if I plan on being out for over 20 miles I can add a couple of 16 ounce Nalgene bottles of more fluid and they stay put without getting in the way.
A 20 or 24 ounce bottle sticks up to high for me and the shorter bottles don’t fit as well. The Nalgene 16 oz are perfect. and light. Also the hose stays put with the heavy duty magnet and it is easy to access.
A perfectly sized day pack, I can get my keys and phone and a few bars in, the bladder and some cartridges incase my tubelss tyres pop! The size of the phone pocket is a bit ill considered, mine just dlesnt fit but it will fit in the main compartment.
There’s some really good thinkkng re access to the pockets, with the front area having a full flap to zip open for easy access. The air vent system simply raises and lowers the bag to make enkigh room for air to go up your back if you’re hot and pulls it close for if you’re going fast and dont want it to flap around.
The weight is perfectly balanced and you can barely feel it. Fair warning: the bladder does take up more than half the main bag space once its full. Cleverly it is velcroed in position ans has its own little pocket though.
Its definitely a great day ride bag if you just want to take energy bars, small essential tools and water.

The 3L Hip Pack offers a great alternative to a traditional backpack saving you weight without taking any risks by having to leave ride essentials behind.
I’ve been using a backpack w/3L hydration bladder for many years and decided to give the hip pack a shot for shorter/cooler rides. I drink a lot when I ride and carry a ton of bike repair items, and a SPOT gps so I was worried about space.
The two side pockets took my multi tool, links, plug, and keys. The spare tube and pump were a bit much so I ended up getting straps and keep those on the bike frame now. The bladder when full takes up nearly all the space in the main compartment.
My SPOT fits in the front pouch without much room to spare. Hydrapak bladders are always amazing, I won’t buy anything that doesn’t use this system. My only complaint is the hose is about 1-2” short, I kinda have to tilt my head down to drink.
If you have a tall torso this will be a problem and you’ll want to find a way to extend the hose. The hose also has a magnet on it that securely keeps it at your side on the bag. It took a few rides to blindly and quickly place the magnet after taking a drink, but like clipless pedals, it just takes some use to get it down subconsciously.
The other thing I like about using the hip pack is my back does not get drenched in sweat (as it does with a backpack), when riding in cold weather this keeps you much warmer.
I’ve done a handful of rides using the Evoc 1 L hip bag and it performs as described. It’s small but holds essentials: tube, tire levers CO2 inflator x2, multi tool, band aids and tape, with room for a phone and wallet.
I like the low profile shape. Fits under a riding jersey and keeps from bouncing around too much. The interior has enough pockets to keep gear in place and quiet. The padded panel against your back provides some protection and is decently comfy.
Strap could be softer against bare skin. Haven’t used the belt pockets yet. Haven’t used it in the rain mud yet but it guess it’s decent and I’d ziploc-bag key items inside.
I purchased this pack to take my wallet, iPhone, and keys on the trails. The water pack was an added plus for me. The weight of the water on my hips is taking some time to adjust in terms of the pack wanting to slide down on aggressive trails (I have had to tighten it multiple times).

Positives: Constructed very well. It is a very thick band, and it stays in place. Negatives: I think the band itself is too long. I barely felt anything with my hip thrusts. If it was shorter, I would be able to maintain resistance throughout the movement.
It was disappointing. I get much more use of my other X Bands booty bands set that I’ve had for years.
I recently received two Glutezilla blue bands and they did not disappoint. You can definitely feel the additional force pressing down on your hips as you thrust them off of the ground. The product works as advertised.
The foot straps keep the strap in place at all times, and you can immediately appreciate the quality of the materials and engineering that went into designing Glutezilla. I made sure to purchase both of them first thing on March 1st since I sensed that this product would sell out quickly if it was designed correctly.
XBands hit this product out of the park. Glutezilla is Killa!.
Actually I am quite disappointed with the band. The name was printed on the band in rubber paint of some kind. As soon as I began to try to use the band the rubber paint started to peel off the band and within a few minutes I had a huge mess all over the floor.
The band continues to shed the remnants of the rubber paint everywhere. I have not been able to use the Banned because I am not willing to clean up the huge mess that is left behind every time I try.
I have no idea if the band is good or not. Just very disappointed with this product. Not very well thought out in my opinion.
The Spine Sport is not only great for athletes – it provides back pain relief during any type of physical activity. The Spine Sport features an enhanced range of motion feature that is ideal for an athlete or athletic individual recovering from sport-related back pain or injuries.
This back support is equipped to fight back pain, specifically low back pain along with other back conditions and injuries causing pain in this area. This is a great brace for recovering athletes, especially when the patient reaches the stage in the recovery process where they no longer need a bulky-style back strap, and can revert to more active motion and back treatment.
The patented Mechanical Advantage Pulley System of this back brace provides the necessary compression to the abdominal region to diminish back aches from surgery and other injuries. This will then allow athletes the opportunity to be more active without their performance being hindered by their back pain.
This brace can be adjusted with one hand for better usability in active situations. It is also easily applied and removed to allow users the freedom needed in recovery. The nylon mesh design of the back brace allows for greater air-flow than other bulkier, lower lumbar braces.
This brace is extremely versatile because it is both practical and comfortable for athletes or athletic use. The sports version of the SPINE brace is great for common sports lumbar back injuries that often leave athletes unable to perform to their full potential.
The narrow, sleek design allows for optimal activity than the original version to due a much larger range of motion. This brace is ideal for back conditions such as spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, or a fracture causing lower back pain in athletes.
The brace is available in sizes ranging from S-3XL. To determine your size, measure the circumference around your waist at the narrowest part of your torso, in inches.
It is a slightly bigger fit then I had measured that I’d need. May order a smaller size later in but it is usable at this size. I think that the curvature of my abdomen makes the brace sit kinda high in on back, otherwise is slides up.
But I do believe it has helped my chronic back pain. I love that the tension can be adjusted! When my back is needing more support it is nice to be able to tighten it up with the adjustable straps.
Excellent. I purchased this specifically for heavy weight use in the gym. The design of this support far exceeds the standard gym belt and prohibits over stress of the spine. It’s design also allows it to be worn under regular clothing should one require extra support in daily life.
As seen in the photo, this brace supports along the vertical sides of the spine and not across the horizontal lower back. Brilliant design!!! Works by supporting the mid and lower spine while not suppressing it.
Please continue to supply this product. It’s wonderful!!.

After purchasing this product, I registered it to access the online videos. I was not able to access it. I emailed the company and the person told me that I must pay $52 to subscribe because I did not purchase it on their website.
Since I purchased this through Rogue Fitness, I must pay extra. This is ridiculous. The product is not even made well. This will be returned. I would recommend Mark bells hip circle instead of us. Poor company.
I bought these when they were first released as an alternative to mini bands. They are a lot more comfortable with the added padding which prevents the band from pulling on your skin like many of the mini bands that I have tried.
I workout everyday (CrossFit and traditional weightlifting) and consider myself fairly fit and I purchased both the red and blue resistances. The red is great for warming up and working on mobility while I use the blue more for strengthening.
No matter your strength level, there are numerous exercises you can do to enhance your warm up, strengthen, and increase mobility in your hips and core. The product even comes with a handy cheat sheet with some exercises with prescribed number of sets and reps.
This quickly got added to my daily warm routine on any leg day. I would highly recommend these to anyone!.
The new serola sacroiliac belt is designed to compress and support the sacroiliac joints, thereby relieving stress and instability. Just as importantly, it is not so tight that it is restrictive. Excess or insufficient motion can adversely affect the entire musculoskeletal system.
The serola sacroiliac belt, by providing the correct balance of resistance and resilience, re-establishes the joint normal motion. Because of the stability the serola sacroiliac belt gives to the base of your spine, strength is increased throughout your back, hips, and legs, and your chances of injury are lessened considerably during work or play.
The new serola sacroiliac belt is the same belt in basic function as the original but with a significant change in comfort and grip. The first layer is changed from cotton to an open-cell urethane foam.
The urethane layer has several advantages over the original cotton layer.
I bought my first belt about 7 or 8 years ago. I had hurt my back as I was just getting ready to go on a safari in Africa. I bought that belt and wore it when we were in jeeps for hours looking for animals in bumpy roads and almost all the time.
It saved my trip! Then, I started to wear it when I was gardening when I was sitting too long in the same place. The belt back really protected my lower back. Then I wouldn’t wear it for a while while my back was good and then I would hurt it again by being careless.
So I would start wearing it again pretty much all day as I was doing my kitchen or garden chores. I also bought one for my sister years ago and I just bought one for my husband. You have to wear it that is the trick and it’s very comfortable.
It is easy to get used to wear it. It last also forever.
This has made a hugh difference in my life! I had SPD in pregnancy 9 years ago from which I feel I never completely recovered. I now have a herniated disc at L1S5 and SI joint dysfunction. Before I began wearing this belt, standing for more than 20 minutes was a trigger for pain and discomfort.
The belt gives me stability and also the piece of mind to know I can engage in the activities I want to. Whilst I am also seeing a physio and taking medication the belt has played a huge role in my recovery.
The belt is very comfortable to wear even when sitting and virtually unnoticeable beneath clothes.
I bought the Serola Sacroiliac Belt for my partner as a last ditch effort to find something that actually worked. We had wasted money on other belts that were extremely uncomfortable and did not help in any way.
My partner had given up on trying any more belts and actually told me not to waste my money. I’m glad I did. On the first day of using the Serola Sacroiliac Belt my partner had the most pain free day without medication all year.
I’m now going to buy a spare so she has one on hand all the time. Thank you BodyHeals.
The Sling Shot Hip Circle Level 2 Elastic Hip and Glute Strength Training Support can be used for hip and glute activation/strength as well as dynamic warm up. You will not only get your hips and glutes warm, but your entire body.
Level 2 elastic ideal for activating lower body muscles. Great warm up got glute activation for any lower body movement. Cues athletes to force knees out while squatting and sumo deadlifting. Ideal for any level athlete.
6’5” / 300. I’ve never used a hip circle – maybe that’s why my hip mobility sucks. I didn’t understand the importance of hip mobility until I realized how poor mine had become at 51 years old. I received this timely and it’s exactly what I expected – a quality product that was well above the product description.
The material is exactly like the sling shot. It slides on and off with ease and in no way does it pinch your skin. It stays in place and stretches well but still offers acceptable resistance. I’m so pleased with mine I purchased my wife and both kids one.
My wife is a power lifter but she too is trying to improve her mobility. She’s 5’9” / 165 and uses size L. Kids barely teenagers and are are borderline, they use a M and L – switching back and forth depending on the exercises they’re doing.
Overall, I am so pleased with this and all my Mark Bell products.
BraceAbility 03B0201XXXL, Color: white, Size: 3XL, BraceAbility Bariatric Low Back Support Belt for Obesity Pain – Fits Bigger Men & Women with Wide Hips – 3XL
I have degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis. Ever since January I have been struggling with what I may have to accept is my new normal. My daily walks of 3 miles have been reduced to less than a mile.
My normally 12K daily step count is 3K on a good day but leaves me in pain for a couple days after and barely managing 1,500 steps. For months I’ve been trying to figure out how to get all that needs to be done accomplished even if I cannot hit my fitness goals.
But much of my end of day consists of me grunting, groaning, and even yelping in pain. My husband noticed a couple of months ago that more and more when I am “standing straight” it is more of an obtuse angle.
A friend said her PT suggested this brace to help hers so I have gotten one too. I am bad about remembering to put it on when I start to hurt (as evidenced by my yelping and groaning through making dinner tonight then remembering at the end that I should’ve grabbed the brace!) but when I do wear it in those times it does restrict my motion to prevent me from doing many of the ****** things that trigger the pain.
IT doesn’t help when I twist side to side though. Do not expect it to heal and you should not wear it all the time as it will actually weaken your core muscles thereby being counterproductive. I also cannot wear it while sitting as it just stabs me the same way a corset would, and it gets all twisted and tangled if I wear it while doing a lot of sitting and standing (like when we have to go to a couple of different stores on shopping day this Sunday.
) and it is not a total solution to the pain. That being said, I am able to get more done, I keep my walking posture straight during my morning walks and am hoping as I cause less irritation I might get better results in my efforts to heal.
I have to say, I was not expecting an XL to fit me. I typically wear a 2xl but it may be why it shifts up when sitting and why going from sitting to standing is problematic for me. But I measured from my belly button as directed and it does fit.
I would be concerned anything looser would not provide the support needed.
4. 5 stars The only “bad” thing I can say is that this brace tends to bunch in the front/side, maybe sew some plastic supports to keep it from bunching up a little. ? It’s easily alleviated by readjusting however, being a grocery cashier and in public it is a little embarrassing having to readjust.
Although I may have given Brace Ability another customer in one of my coworkers. After wearing my BA knee brace I found my issue with my knee was made bareable and my knees weren’t the problem anymore,,, my back was acting up, so I purchased a bariatric back brace and WOW what a difference! I still end up in pain after my shift but I could walk the next day.
As soon as I received my second paycheck I bought 2 knee braces in a smaller size (I recently lost 50 pounds) and another back brace. I am excited to see how they will help my performance at work and help me at home around the house and in the garden.
I may not be at 100% but with the braces from Brace Ability and losing weight I’m getting back on track to enjoying my life again.
If you find you are near the cusp of 2 sizes, go with the smaller size, if you want the back support. I made the mistake of ordering the larger size, and found there was not enough Velcro in the correct position to make it tight enough for good support.
Original order shipment was fairly quick, but it took over a week for the post office to return the item for exchange, and a few more days for the exchange item to be shipped. The smaller size gave better support.
Overall I wish there was more Velcro on the sides to give tightening straps more options for tighter fit, but am generally pleased with fit of smaller belt. Thanks.
Great for reduction of pain and swelling after hip injuries. Micromesh and foam cold pack sleeve directs cold toward the source of the pain. Removable soft gel cold pack insert stays cold longer for extended relief.
Elastic straps provide much needed compression for deep tissue therapy. Universal product fits most and works for both the left and right hip areas.
Couldnt be happier! I received my order in 1 day ! I guess the only thing I comment negatively is that the website showed a blue wrap mine was delivered as black .. but really *** isnt important!
We were satisfied with your product. It arrived when suppose to. Ive been using the ice pack every day since I received it. Its a good size and wraps around your hip and thigh perfect.
Product Description:Royal Medical Solutions presents RMS Premiium Hip Kit which is designed carefully by medical professions for people who are recovering from hip or knee surgeries. The Kit contains: one 70cm Soft-GripTM Reacher, one Deluxe Moulded Sock Aid with 100cm Long Foam Handles, one 70cm Long Dressing Stick, one 60cm Long Handle Round Sponge and one 46cm Long Plastic Shoe Horn.
I would say this is generally very handy for someone who is having hip replacement. The one caveat is that the sock aid really doesn’t work well unless the socks are very thin.
The sponge it okay, but is rather soft. This Reacher is useless, the jaw pushes off to the side of the rigid piece and easily drops what you are trying to pick up. There are better quality out there.
Had all the tools needed. The only thing I would improve is the scrub brush for the shower. The sponge is very soft, so it doesn’t clean so well. Would be better if it had a scrubby side or was more like a poof.

The Alpinestars Nucleon KR-H Hip Protectors fit tight in my Andes V2 Drystar pants but they do work. I feel the tightness mostly when in a riding position, but maybe I’m supposed to? The armor fits in pockets which then Velcro to the pants.
When I saw that I thought for sure they would eventually fall off. Surprisingly they haven’t fallen off yet. I never remove them which probably keeps the Velcro strong. I wear the pants every day and throw them around and even hang them up, and the armor has never fallen off.
Still, I think the Velcro was a poor design decision. I wish the pants had pockets for them like the knees. Also, I have been converting all my armor to the flex armor so I wish they made Nucleon Hip Flex armor but for what they are they work.
I ordered these with some trepidation, as my size 52 pants are already borderline-disco tight around the waist. (Yes, I need to lose a few COVID pounds!) My concerns were unfounded. These slip right in, the velcro does its job, and I don’t notice them after a swing a leg over the bike, except for the comfy feeling that comes with extra protection.
And as an ex-bicycle racer I know exactly what it feels like (and the hematoma that results) when an unprotected hip hits pavement! A bargain in my book.
My Alpinestar pants came with good knee armor but the hip foam was thin and soft, and I couldn’t imagine it providing much protection. I was slightly worried that these replacements would be bulky, but they blend in and I don’t even notice they are there.
I’m much happier to have some proper protection, and they are very comfortable.
I just started to use this product for my Plantar Fasciitis. The intensity of my pain has dropped like 40% at my initial usage, over night pain dropped 80%. I walked to the bathroom this morning almost pain free for the first time in 1.
5 years. At work I’m getting up and experiencing very little pain, whereas before I would need like 20 feet of walking to “limber up”. My only regret is I did not buy the splitter and an extra ankle pad.
Swapping one pad between the 2 feet is easy enough but this thing works so good that getting both feet at the same time would be awesome. In regards to putting this pad on its simple and intuitive. Connecting and disconnecting the pad is easy and there is very little dripping.
The unit is quiet, I actually thought there may have been a problem with the pup because it was producing just a low hum. But water was freely pumping. Please make sure to place a buffer between your skin and the pad as the water is extremely cold.
Yes, buy this – it actually does what it says it does. It works and keeps the pad cold enough to help keep the swelling down after surgery – in this case Hip Surgery. The only down side to this is that it uses quite a bit of ice to create the cold – clever how the designers knew to mix water with ice for the most efficient cold generation.
Unbox it, (okay read the instructions), fill the water up to the easily found indicator-line inside the liquid container – then fill the container with ice up to the line clearly displayed inside the container, if necessary, use a blunt object to break the ice-crust on the top of the ice -water mixture, replace the top, plug in the cooling pad hose into the hose from the ice-water container – making sure to press down on the two metal keys on the hose end coming from the container, plug connect the hoses together.
plug it in and in about 5 minutes or so you have a cold pad. I found that the instructions didn’t have photos or graphis on how to correctly replace the lid. Nor did the instructions have graphics or photos on what the inside should look like when the amounts of water and / or ice are added.
It would be a great improvement if Breg would develop a unit that can freeze a substance without the addition of ice. and then the added water would work the same. This substance could be part of the walls (maybe like the stuff in blue ice for camping) and flexable to be frozen in the freezer and easily replaced into the unit.
In its present form the Breg® Polar Care Cube should be sent home from the hospital with every patient needing swelling control and Medicare should pay for it. I have a criticism though for Orthobracing.
com: The website and email responders haver a great proactive, friendly, warm, welcoming theme and tone, and I really like the blurb about buying from their site printed on the invoice. made me smile.
I still haven’t received answers to my questions after a week or two, or any personal communiucation underwritng the supposed “we’re your interested and caring friends”. so it’s just words. the humans behind them don’t seem to be there, or care.
This product, the ice system combined with the knee pad, is phenomenal. After surgery, my daughter could not have recovered anywhere near as quickly as she did without this system. I ordered the XL size because I was told it could easily adjust to a smaller size and that was great advice.
She is slender and athletic but the XL adjusted down to her requirements. I would recommend this unit for anyone who has to undergo surgery, endure physical therapy or suffers from arthritis. It keeps the joint cool without totally numbing allowing continuous rehab.
The system does not leak. The cuff Velcros into place with no need to adjust as is the case with traditional bulky ice packs. I know others who have benefited from the hip pad and the shoulder pad. All of us agree it was worth the investment.
AfterPay Available – The RE3 Shoulder Hip Glute Ice Compression Pack uses advanced compression technology to speed up the healing process, and provide the essential support needed to reduce pain and inflammation.
Ideal to help you get back on your feet after surgery.
I grabbed a brace and 2 ice packs due to a Hip Surgery and they have been a lifesaver. They don’t move if you fall asleep and stay cool for the period of time you ice for. Definitely recommend two ice sheets as they take a little while to freeze if you forget to put it back in the freezer.
I had a slight issue with one ice blanket and this the team were incredibly quick to respond and help me with my issue. Thank you kindly for your assistance.
Bought for my partner who had a shoulder reconstruction. Easy to put on. Very comfortable and pain relieving post surgery. A real life saver. The service was exceptional to ensure I got the product on time with a back up plan in place in case it didn’t.
It arrived in 2 days so no problem. Love it. Highly recommend.
Purchased the RE3 hip pack pre full hip replacement. Two weeks post surgery and I can genuinely say this product is awesome and so easy to use. No mess from condensation when icing and easy to adjust to areas of swelling.
Packaging and instructions for the product use are first class. Highly recommend to anyone. Thanks RE3.
Breg VPULSE Cold therapy Thermal Pad can be applied to the knee, shoulder, foot-ankle, hip and back for cold therapy or dynamic compression therapy to manage pain and swelling for post-operative recovery.
I’ve just had total knee replacement surgery and after thorough research decided to buy the Cold therapy system and glad I did. The product is very easy to use. The ice works really well and has controlled my swelling.
I wanted a unit with compression and there are not that many out there, and this one has that option which is really good and I use it all the time. It makes a noise but is not too noisy and doesn’t bother me at all.
The ice pack is great, it stays on the knee with the versatile Velcro straps. I read reviews that the Velcro stops sticking after a while but I’ve been using it non stop since 28 July and it’s as good as new.
I wouldn’t be without it – definitely worth the investment! Also the customer service was good. I telephoned before I ordered to check if the item was in stock and to get an approximate delivery date so ensure I had it a few days prior to surgery.
Some other companies said they had it in stock but didn’t unless you were prepared to pay expedited shipping.
In prepping for ACL surgery, the doctor suggested renting a GameReady to accelerate recovery. I could rent a GameReady for $300 for 2 weeks or buy this unit; I chose to purchase the Breg and it was a good decision.
I really have no issues with the device; there aren’t as many options/controls as a GameReady but it consistently does its job. My only critique pertains to the pads – there aren’t many options and the coverage area is somewhat small.
For instance, the knee pad only extends a few inches above and below the knee whereas a GameReady pad has about 24” of coverage. There also aren’t nearly as many different pads to purchase, but that isn’t surprising given relative market shares.
Now, if someone would make an adaptor to connect the Breg to a GameReady pad, then the Breg would be a slam dunk purchase for me.
I decided to purchase this Berg cold water circulation/compression pump after reviewing several others on the web and at Amazon. I had major rotator cuff repair on my dominant arm this past Wednesday, and I started using he Berg right away.
The machine keeps the surgical area cool – you can control how cool via settings – and it does so for a significant period of time. The shoulder compression fits well, and it stays in place even without using the Velcro braces.
During the first 36 hours after my surgery the Berg was extremely effective at keeping the swelling down and making life relatively comfortable considering the pain I would ha e had otherwise. The unit is very easy to set up and to operate.
The unit was delivered early and was in perfect operating condition. I highly recommend this purchase should you be looking for such a device to help you with shoulder post operative recovery.
The conclusion of hip replacement for athletes will typically involve a lengthy and difficult rehabilitation process. This is due to the nature of the surgery and the fact that athletes often put a great deal of strain on their hips.
The rehabilitation process will typically involve a lot of physical therapy and may last for several months.
