20 Best Hiking Shirts For Men (2023 Updated)

Was looking for a Sherpa Fleece lined hoodie for layering in cool to cold temps. The Scandia Woods has worked great. Have worn it under a jacket, for firewood hauling, and yard and garden cleanup in late fall and early winter.

Having no fleece in the sleeves is a plus – quick on and off, plenty of arm and shoulder flexibility, and less likelihood to overheat when active. The Scandia Woods is longer than some hoodies, but not a problem – just extends the protective coverage.

Zipper works well.

The Scandia Woods sherpa-lined fleece hoodie is true to size. It has a comfortable cozy lined bodice and hoodie too. The hoodie did not shrink or shed after laundering; high quality fabric and a neutral color palette.

We worn the hoodies for our southern winter indoors (65 degree temperature) and outdoors (30-65 degree temperature). It is quite warm to take a nap in or sleep the night away. Definitely will purchase more as needed.

It’s comfortable, the material is soft, feels sturdy enough to last for a few years, and gives me the level of warmth I want at this time of year. I took off one star only because I would have preferred the color to be a little darker level of navy blue.

And I haven’t had or used it long enough to have washed it yet, so I can’t comment of how it will look and feel afterwards. But other than that I’m quite happy with the purchase.

This shirt hangs well, the fabric is comfortable, and it’s sturdy. The snap buttons are great. The fit is true to size. I thought the price was high for a shirt of this sort, so I waited until a 20% sale came around.

I still think the price was high, though I think the quality was excellent. Note that this Abisko Trekking shirt is different than the Abisko Hiking shirt, which has regular buttons (not snap), and as far as I can tell, the cut and fabric are also different.

All in all, a favorite warm weather shirt. Two thumbs up.

Great summer shirt. Stretchy in all directions. Extremely breathable. A unicorn in the respect that it is a fjallraven shirt that actually fits true to size. 🙂 Liked it so much I bought a second one.

Both on sale. I just can’t justify full price fjallraven products.

I got this shirt to ride on my bike. I wanted something that was airy and has sun protection and it’s working out great. Runs big which is understandable because it’s meant to have plenty of ventilation.

Might actually give this to a friend and buy a smaller size, but would definitely buy again!.

I got the dark gray and the plaid on sale. I though both would be nice shirts for dinner and church. Maybe work or something casual. The plaid pattern is very nice and almost makes up for the lack of stretch and tight shoulders.

The solid dark gray really shows how basic the material is. The collar won’t hold itself up. Could have got cheaper shirt with better durability.

I bought one of these try out in size large and after 2-3 weeks, I bought 5-6 more pairs. I’m 6’2” and the large was perfect. Unfortunately, after about 8-10 weeks of casual wearing, every single shirt shrank 2-3” in length.

They went from a perfect fit to shirts I can wear only around the house. If you buy these, buy a size up would be my only advice. I may try an XL, but after spending so much already I’m hesitant. It’s a really bummer because I really, really, really like the color and original fit.

The shrinking is a deal breaker.

I would have went for 60% cotton and 30 polyester as the Top feels heavy and unbreathable with the polyester. The top is designed for activity/ leisurewear so it should be breathable and medium weight.

The neckline should be the like fruit of the loom products. They are the only brand that has got the neck line correct for a wholesome masculine aesthetic. Oval necklines suit endomorphs. I really liked the blue/navy print and the design to put your thumb through the sleeve is a touch of extra funk.

This Medium(M) shirt ran small vs. other brands. Unlike the Wrangler pants I got with them which ran big. ?. I liked the shirt but ended up sending it to my son as I knew it would not be comfortable for me, especially when fishing.

Unfortunate there were no size L available to try. I got a sale price so gave it an “excellent” value rating.

The main problem was the fit. The sleeves were plenty long, but the shirt was tight at the shoulders, across the chest, and at the waist. I figured the next size larger might have worked but then the sleeves would have been way too long.

Most times a large size shirt fits fine, but this was not one of those times. Fit aside, the shirt was not all that great anyway. I have a similar one made by a competitor and like it a lot.

My husband has this shirt in the light blue and loves it so much he got it in the teal. It?s perfect for travel as it resists wrinkles, can be washed in the sink and dries quickly, looks dressy but also can be worn for a casual look.

He wore this in Jamaica, which is hot and humid and it kept him cool. The fit is slim, which he prefers.

Excellent construction with ample venting making it very useful for the hot days of Summer. The fabric is lightweight and very durable, even stain-resistant to a huge degree. Also, the preponderance of pockets is unbelievable.

I’ll probably buy another one! Only one note – it is well-fitted; if you want it to drape, order a size larger.

I have an aray of recently bought button ups to refresh my closet. Arcteryx, Mammut, Mountain Hardware and more. Where’s this stand, just behind my Arcteryx Skyline shirts and above the Mammut. It’s stretchy yet great fitting, light and nicely designed.

Breaths well (I although I wouldn’t take it on a hot day hiking trip) and I like the buttons being same color. I’m 5’10. 5 and 200#’s, Large was perfect.

Great fit. Bought it for my husband and he loved it. He isn’t tall, and many shirts end up fitting a bit too long. But this one was just right. Also feel of material is great. Only thing is we got one that actually has the white “the north face” and I actually thought it was all black (image shows all black).

Small thing, but still only reason why it’s not 5 stars.

Really nice looking design and soft to the touch fabric. Versatile … dress it up or dress it down. Outstanding regardless. I get compliments constantly … kind of annoying. In like with this shirt!

I loved my new Trail UPF short sleeve shirt. It kept me comfortable, cool and protected from the UVrays when I visited Chichen-Itza in the Mexican caribean. Highly recommendable!

I purchased 2 Echo s/s tee for the first time and am amazed at how light and cool the material is. It is the lightest, coolest and softest among all my performance wear. It is perfect for hiking, walking and traveling.

I’ve become a fan. I’ve tested it at Yellowstone and on beaches, and they have kept me cool and dry. My only concern is the roughness of the seams – it’s wider and rougher than that of another brand that I like.

I think the seams are rougher and, probably, tougher, able to handle encounters with rocks and other elements – good for rock climbing. I just wouldn’t use it as a running shirt. Others may not mind.

Now, I’m looking to purchase an Echo long sleeve and a Sun hoodie and am interested in other Echo products. Great material, Outdoor Research!.

I’d say this shirt is somewhat delicate; however it’s still my #1 choice for backpacking. It’s super lightweight, thin, dries incredibly fast, and is great for long backpacking trips because it keeps odor to a minimum.

That said, I do wish they would do away with the clothing tags and print that info directly on the fabric, or attach the tags with safety pin or something. I hate tags on my backpacking clothing, so I will cut them out.

I’m very careful not to cut fabric when I do it, but somehow I managed to cut a hole in my brand new Echo t-shirt this time. 🙁 I put Gear Aid tape on it and it’s holding up so far. Also, there’s a tiny snag (not tear) in the shirt already and I’m not even sure how it happened.

All of that aside, I’ll still wear it and I still prefer this shirt to the Patagonia Daily Capilene, which is–for me–a close second on my backpacking tech clothing list.

Recently returned from an extremely hot and humid vacation in Key West. Temps in the 90’s. Dewpoint 75 or higher every day. Heat index of 110. I brought 2 of these Echo T-Shirts with me and lived in them.

Very light and breathable and the only tops I had that did not stick to my hot and sweaty body. They wicked well and offer SPF protection. How this is accomplished in such lightweight material is a mystery to me.

And no. they are not see-through like so many other lightweight options. I’m a big fan of the modest v-neck these shirts have. I do wish they were and in or two shorter, but that’s my personal preference.

I highly recommend the Echo T-Shirt and the Echo Sun Hoody. Fantastic all around.

Bought my first one of these whilst traveling in India, a very versatile shirt for travel, especially the hidden pocket. When I got home I started wearing it for walking & found it perfect fro changeable weather.

Have just invested in a second one as I like wearing it so much.

Excellent quality and features. However the fit wasn’t right for me. Sleeves were far, far too long and as there wasn’t an extra button to adjust the cuffs. As I wanted the option to wear it in that way unfortunately had to return.

See no problem if the fit is right for you and/or worn as a short sleeved shirt.

I would like to buy khaki coloured shirt but it’s 1499/- rupees right now, where as blue coloured shirt is 999/only, so I am waiting for it’s price to come down

The t-shirt is very comfortable on the skin. If you use a non-flagrance deodorant, you can definitely wear it for several days in a row. I wore it for maximum of 4 days while hiking, through rain and after 4 days it was not that bad.

But I changed it since I had 2 more identical t-shirts. The t-shirt also dries up pretty quickly, which is quite impressive. However, I take one start out because the t-shirt feels too short. Would have appreciate it if it would have been a bit longer.

This is an excellent walking T Shirt. It is good value for money. It keeps you warm and wicks sweat away from the body. It is good when travelling light as you can wear more than a day without any odour issues.

I wash it using a wool soap on a wool wash in the washing machine. Some of the fabric is bubbling a bit as it has an acrylic content but not too much so far. It is on the small size so if you want a loose fit choose a size larger.

I am a medium in decathlon sizes, orded these as a Large for a lose fit and they are tight. Very small compared to normal decathlon sizes as a Large is already one size up from my normal medium and still tight!.

A good value summer hiking top. A little on the small size – I’m a medium and when I replace these tops I’ll probably go for a size large. Nice flat seams so no rubbing from rucksack straps. Washes well.

Does the job. Recommended.

Product quality is superb for the price. Stretch is good. Fabric is very light and breathable. Specially I love the underarm mesh panels. Perfect choice for summers. Lastly best product in it’s class.

Other counterparts are costlier with inferior quality.

I have brought this t-shirt and and it’s been around a month. It has been a very good experience. It has very good quality and comfort at the same time. I woul highly recommend this product to everyone who wants to buy a sport tshirt.

Given the competition this garment seemed like a real value at $50. The workmanship and fabric quality was excellent. I had previously bought the orange merino hiking shirt and while I wear a US XL in Decathlon’s sizing the 2XL fi.

Which, as you might imagine, is the size I ordered. So why they sent me a men’s Small I’ll chalk up to bad luck. Maybe you’ll have better.

Had ordered this one after a good experience with my first Merino tee which I had used for the EBC trek. This one developed two holes on the back within 2 days of use. It appears that the quality has been comprised upon, or perhaps it’s a defective product.

Used it on a 6 day hike to Pindari glacier, in the Himalayas. Gained altitude of 12,000 feet. Great base layer. Fits perfectly and feels warm when weather is chilly. This is the first base layer I have really enjoyed wearing (have been hiking in synthetic base layers since 2010).

It dries out much faster than cotton (slightly slower than nylon fabrics). It does breaths well, and also it can be quite warm if it is not allowed to breath (e. g. it is used under something else as a lower layer).

The smell does not remain on it as well as on other fabrics, but some of them remains. The fabric is very thin, which means that my T-shirt started to tear apart after a year of use (it was not used/washed frequently, maybe once or twice a month).

Overall the wool might perform better than other fabrics (more comfortable/practical), but since it holds up only for a year, it does not worth the money. Maybe stronger/thicker wool fibers could improve, or some added nylon fibers.

As this is my first Marino t-shirt, I wanted to test it fully. I used it for 5 hrs hike with 24 degree temp and all in full sun light. I was all sweaty but this magic t-shirt was wicking the sweat very quickly.

Still fresh to wear after extensive use. Though looking at price I will call it luxury fabric but not essential (like synthetic) I would have given it 5-star if price would be moderate.

I have used this shirt for long distance hiking across Scotland, climbing in Germany, and mountaineering in Poland. It is a fantastic shirt. Very light, a good amount of stretch, very breathable, and has never, in the months of usage, has ever had any foul odor.

The only downside is that since the material is quite thin, it is prone to small holes due to a belt, but if you tuck the shirt in or get a less sharp belt this should be no problem.

I hiked 10km in the direct sun wearing this t-shirt and I’m very satisfied. It’s very breathable, comfortable and light. It didn’t stay wet for a long time. The fit is good too. If you like really loose clothes, get a size bigger.

If not, it fits very well. Super happy with it.

I use these for mountain biking. They are excellent. Very lightweight and airy. I got them on sale and for the price you can’t beat them. I wish they had more colors in stock, I’d load up.

Like these tops from Decathlon very much. Prefer these to cotton material. Suitable for Singapore weather. And it’s value for your money.

I bought the shirt, excellent price and nice cool material BUT the cutting sucks. The cutting is for persons with a big mid section. My take was that this was a shirt for active people with smaller mid sections.

I bought an XL, an L would be cramped at my shoulders. Still good valued shirt.

This is a great product. Fits well, and is a bliss for the hot sumemr days, and I am sure, for teh humid rainy days ahead! I found it cool enough to pick two identical pieces for myself and anotehr one for my brother.

Plus picked another one from the same family, in rust color.

This shirt is far more better than the shirts available in shopping malls and market. Quality of fabric is super. Dries in very less time. Gives a nice and charming look to the personality. I think it’s a must try.

I have owned two of these shirts since May 2021 and they smell terribly. After washing the shirt, they smell fresh but as soon as you perspire even just slightly, they really stink. I have other synthetic shirts that do not smell including another Patagonia shirt.

The other negative about this shirt is fit. I am 5 ft 9 177 lb and wear a large. The size large is bigger than the typical large and the medium is closer to a small. The positives are, the shirt is very comfortable and soft.

I hope Patagonia fixes these issues and if they do, I would purchase again.

Like its predecessors (the 2019 cool trail, and the Nine Trails before that), this 2020 iteration has all the ingredients for a warm weather t-shirt (and a cooler weather undershirt) perfect for trail walking or running, hitting the espresso bar or the pub afternoons and evenings, or just hanging alone or with friends in the yard.

Each shirt in the series has been a necessity for me and I have appreciated the progressive improvements in materials and design through the 3 generations that I’m aware of. This latest retains that feel of that favorite relaxed, worn cotton, t-shirt you never wanted to part from — with the advantage of not having to take the break-in time that got you so in love with it.

For me, this shirt reached that peak of perfection after just 2 or 3 washings but with the advantage over the classic weather beaten cotton of having a lot of wear miles left. The weave is thin (but not see through — your more unfortunate tatoos, if you have them, won’t show) and breathable cool so you feel the air; the fabric is gratifyingly sturdy and holds its shape.

No shrinkage that I noticed; the collar keeps its shape; the colors stay vibrant (I’m especially taken with the superior blue and the black, both of which shades were not available in this rich, deeply saturated color in earlier versions).

I’m 6’2″ and 190 lbs and I favor the XL for hiking and hanging out; I like the roomier feel in the sleeves and still have some definition in the chest, though the material isn’t stretched across it. Comes down to just graze the top of my blue jean pockets in the back.

I also have one of these in the L, tighter all around (more like a slim cut), especially on the arms; I use that for bike riding and the gym. I would say the sizing of this 2020 version is just a bit more generous than the earlier ones of the same category (XL, L, etc.

), but not wildly different. The drape is perfect: not boxy, not binding, just that perfect balance of flow and fit. Highly recommended & I’ll definitely be buying more.

I bought two of these for hiking in warm conditions. It’s very soft and comfortable to wear. I’m a tall guy with long arms and the sleeves felt short on my arms while moving around. I felt like I kept having to pull them down while hiking.

The shirt did dry very fast after it got wet with sweat and or rain. I got home after wearing the shirt on a weekend long hike and I noticed it was pilling pretty bad on the lower back and shoulders from light rubbing of my pack.

It looks like little lint balls all over in these spots. I thought it might be that shirt and tried the other shirt and same result. Maybe if you are using this shirt for running it’d be great, but hiking with a pack on will pill up this shirt bad.

Was thinking about using for a thru hike but I’d worry about rubbing a hole in the lower back after a few hundred miles.

I’m 6′ tall and rail thin but wear medium in nearly every kind of shirt. After buying my first Singi in medium I absolutely loved it, but it was just a bit baggy. I bought another color in small and it’s perfect.

I now have 3 of these shirts and they have become my go-to’s for just about every activity. The G1000 material is nearly bulletproof when it comes to what it will put up with. If you’re waffling about spending the money on one or two of these, buy it! You will not regret it.

I have tons of button-down shirts and few of them ever get worn anymore. In fact I’m thinking about getting one in the dark olive. But remember, size down.

Top notch FJ quality as usual. I wear an XL since I have long arms and broad shoulders. I’m 185cm. This piece offers some wind performance, durability, and ventilation. A solid layer that provides jacket-like protection without all the nonsense of a jacket.

I use this for hiking in all-weather (except summer), splitting wood, archery. It’s great!.

The Fjallraven Singi is my all time travel and hiking shirt in temperate climates between 5 and 23 Celsius. The material is a bit hard when brand new but after washing it gets better and better all the time.

It is highly breathable, it doesn’t stink easily, it is wind-resistant and it dries out quickly. So you can wear this shirt on its own or underneath a jacket equally well. The sleeves are a tight fit over the elbows but the roll-up feature button is perfect.

The chest pockets fit my passport and boarding pass. It is comfortable and fits me well. The dusk color is absolutely fantastic and it can easily go well with a diversity of colors in terms of pants or an overall jacket.

I love this shirt so much that I can’t wait for other color options and will buy at least one more, if not two. Finally, I have other garments with the G1000 material from Fjallraven and already know that a shirt with this quality of production, made of this material, will last for many years to come.

In short, it is not cheap but you get what you pay for – i. e. the best travel and hiking shirt for temperate climates!.

The colour faded after washing twice. Have shopped over 7 times via this site and this is my first disappointment. The site should not welcome such seller. The quality is poor and this product is not as promised.

Have also purchased a pant and returned after seeing the poor quality. But the money never came back to my account and the customer care is unattended even after several attempts. This seller is not recommended.

And I used to like this site but slowly, it’s disappointing.

Made an mistake of not trying on the shirt before buying. Turned out it was a little smaller than expected but still wearable. Am athletic build. But after one wash it behind a mini top. Unwearable. Would be good if there size measurements for reference rather than just S/M/L.

Even asked the staff and he recommended M.

The t-shirt is nice and has a good feel, the colour is well represented on the picture too. However the size or description should mention ‘slim fit’ or something like this. I am between M and L and like loose clothes so went for L.

Unfortunately it became too tight after the wash and is uncomfortable to wear for me, hence three stars only mainly for inaccurate description. I should have taken the XL size, so be aware when choosing the size for yourself.

Overall okay product. The stitching is good and the buttons are nice. Have been using more than 1 year and now started to show its age. The threads started to wear out especially near the sitting area, Maybe because of the bag pack rubbing against the shirt, but then very weird that the threads started to become loose.

I rarely use to machine wash this shirt. In fact, I have both the colors being used frequently at times and this thread-wearing issue arises for both at the almost the same time. Asked for the guarantee, but they denied saying wear and tear issue.

I have several of these shirts, in the three colors available. My wife has a couple too. Its a cool shirt, with the hidden zipper pockets, (and hole for your headphones), breast pocket and shoulder reinforcements an added touch.

I don’t use it so much on the trail, though my wife does. For me its a cool shirt to wear around town or when I bike, so I can roll my sleeves up/down as needed, or am traveling, as the hidden pockets can stash my money, passport, ID, etc.

A recycled product. Can you belive it? It is extremely comfortable and feels like soft like cotton. Has tractical features like the recesses for the headphones. Hidden pockets on sides and lovely fit.

The blouse feels great and warm even if it is wet or sweaty. Still the fabric has worn out after just one use. I think that they should make it a bit more resistant while wearing a backpack, after all it is a blouse made for mountaineering.

Be careful washing with clothing since it sheds a lot of fluff
