I love this hat, the sun makes my palm complexions burn fast. With this hat I don’t overheat as quickly. It’s lightweight so I don’t get headaches. It’s the only hat I have found that protects me and doesn’t irritate my sensory issues or surgical scars.

I love this hat! It is so cute and comfortable. I wore it during 5 all day hikes in the Utah desert in June with temps in the 90s-100s. The hat is lightweight so it was easy to shove into my backpack when I didn’t need it.

I’m very fair skinned and burn easily and my face and neck and sunburn free.

I purchased a hat similar to this for my sisters birthday. she loved hers and so I decided to get one for myself too. We are going to Arizona next April and now we will both have our stylish hats from Moosejaw!.

Love this hat, I have kindof a big head so the L/XL was perfect for me. Most one size hats don’t really work for me so I love that it was offered in sizes. Took it floating to protect my head from the sun, took a spill out of the kayak and hit the water hard enough that the cord broke so I actually lost my first one to the river.

(The olive color blended perfectly with the tone of the water and it does not float. ) I was so sad about losing it I immediately ordered another! I may replace the cord with something stronger if I float again but otherwise it’s the perfect hat for me!.

Bought this in Straw, size S/M and it fits great. The color goes with everything really. The chin strap works really well when it’s windy and keeps the hat on so your hands are free while moving about.

Sun protection was excellent and it kept me dry when rain storms swooped in. This hat is packable in a suitcase, surviving the flight to Hawaii and 7 days of adventures. However, on that 7th day the flat cap on top popped off.

I think the threads failed bc the hat got wet too many times (rainy season). I was able to use a sewing kit to stitch it back, but for the price this really should be better built, for any adventure, not just the dry ones! I’ll continue to use my patched one to see if it lasts.

Love the hat, shape and color. But it is quite big. I have a big head so I thought it would fit fine, but even for me it’s quite large. But since it has the adjuster I’m actually fine with it. I can’t wait to wear it on my vacation.

After reading all the reviews about the quality, I am taking a crazy glue tube just in case it rips, because it does seem like it is kind of flimsy. Which is very disappointing. Hope it holds up well though!.

Great summer hat. Protects my hair and scalp from the hot sun. Shades my face and neck to prevent the aging effects of the sun. Fits great. Washes up nicely. Love it.

I like the hat very much. I like that it covers the back of my neck from the sun and I will be using it when I fish. I am also planning a trip to Africa and I chose the color for that because bolder colors either attract or distract.

I like this design because you can tighten it and the ribbon stays where it needs to. It feels good on the head. I liked it so much I bought a blue one but the blue one came very wrinkled.

I very much love this hat. It’s comfy and stays on even in decent headwinds. It’s been through a few washes now after various 10+ mile hikes and looks brand new. I bought the men’s version for my husband and he loves it just as much as I do the women’s.

Our favorite thing about them is that they don’t have garish branding. I HATE wearing gear that makes me serve as a billboard and this hat having the company logo on the top of the brim where you can’t really see it is quite nice indeed.

I will absolutely buy another in the future if it ever wears out! This fits me perfectly. My head circumference is 22. 5”.

These are just for my purposes, which usually involve runs of 3-5 miles in hot, sunny weather (Austin, TC). I appreciate the low weight, the UV protection, and the sweatband, which is very effective.

My only complaint is that the medium size is a bit too large. I can still use these hats, so no worries. But I have an average-size head, and I’m right on the edge with the sizing strap. The belt is left with so much slack, that I occasionally feel it tickling the back of my head.

If you are bald, you may want to consider going a size down.

I LOVE this hat and am so glad they have them back in stock so I can order more. This has become my absolute favorite go-to running hat. Very comfortable, ultra lightweight, fits my teeny head very well, and cleans up so easily.

1)Delivery- hassle free, faster than expected. Purchased from across the globe: Singapore 2)Color: It’s more a MANDARIN ORANGE than a BLAZE. Wish it were more BLAZE, a color tone that sticks out immediately.

This tone is ‘dull’, not vibrant. 3)BRIM (stiff) Well constructed. My personal preference is a Pliable brim that allows 100% packability. 4)Fabric Polyester I wonder why not NYLON/ SPandex. Wish there is a waterproof (not water resistant!) version soon.

Most brands that claim their products to be waterproof are just water resistant. A coat of DWR that u can pretty much spray yourself. soaks thru a in a heavy rain. ‍♂ 5)Only wish it’s made in the USA.

6)I would give a 5⭐ IF not for the color n stiff brim.

Love these hats! The sweatband actually absorbs sweat; novel thought, I know. I bought two of these awhile ago, but in my move from NJ to Texas via New Orleans (where I really needed them) I couldn’t find them.

So, I ordered two more! Colors are bright and beautiful. Fit is great (though tab is a little long when the cap is cinched up for small heads with short hair). Service is prompt. If I lose these, I’ll be ordering more.

Pros: Love the feel of how it fits on my head. Does a better job of wicking away sweat than other running hats I have tried. Black underside it nice. Light. Good quality material. Cons: The velcro to adjust it is poorly done.

Its one sided velcro so if your need to adjust it significantly big or small you are out of luck. Other Velcro hats I have stick on both sides of the velcro. The hat was almost too big for me to be able to wear it.

It was too big for my friends head. Also, the holes are too much and make it see though. Smaller holes and more of them would be ideal so it doesn’t look so see thru. Overall: It was a better hat than most of the cheap running hats I have had.

I bought this hat a couple of years ago but hadn’t had much occasion to wear it outside of occasional gardening. That all changed on a recent vacation an extremely sunny destination! I wore this hat to the beach, the pool, on a fishing trip & while sightseeing outdoors.

This hat provided excellent sun protection & when I removed it once or twice, I thought that it was definitely cooler to have it on than to have the sun beating down on me! And I wasn’t overheated by wearing it either.

The chin strap was extremely helpful for those beach breezes & while moving across the water to different fishing spots! I loved the back neck drape & while I have the front neck drape, I haven’t worn it on the hat (but I have it just in case!) This is a really great help with sun protection & it packs very well! I got the ‘stone’ color.

This is a really good looking hat and it has just the right size and shape brim to actually protect you from the sun. That may seem like a simple statement but I own many high-quality sun hats that are mainly designed for physical activities and they aren’t always the prettiest things.

Yes, they stay on, float in the water and weigh next to nothing, but you sacrifice style with those if you don’t plan on doing that type of activity. I mentioned the brim size and shape because the slight downward tilt of it makes all the difference on actually protecting you from the sun.

If you’re not going to be doing any kind of high-speed work and just walking or hanging around, it is a good looking choice. Nicely made, looks classy, has non reflective fabric under the brim which many hats do not, and has the all-important chin strap because you never know when the wind is going to kick up.

You can detach this strap because it has small little clips on it. The fit was perfect ; it has some adjustability in it if needed. I’ve used it several times already and I’m very pleased with it.

It’s so crazy that coolibar makes high quality UV-blocking fabric items but then fall short in the design of the items. What’s the reason for making this great full-face sun-blocking hat for a whopping 59 bucks without adding a zipper to the top to allow you to convert it to a visor ? Is there a woman on earth who wouldn’t want the choice to protect her hairdo from the hat even while using the hat to protect her face from the sun? This is like the face mask they sell that leaves the forehead completely uncovered.

Like why would I waste my time wearing a sun face mask slash veil that doesn’t also cover my forehead. Can coolibar smarten up a little and start offering more intuitive options/features on their items?.

Purchased on sale and appreciate how lightweight and foldable hat is for easy packing but plastic holding cord broke immediately and without it, hat doesn’t stay on in even a light wind because hat is not very deep.

So recommend only if no wind, small head, or like to always tie in a bow under chin or are prepared to be extremely careful when pulling the cord to tighten it under chin. Eddie Bauer gets high marks for customer service though.

Refunded what I paid and offered to arrange for me to purchase another at the same, now expired price. Note, however, that when I thought about the offer and then called back I was only offered 20% discount! I noted the original offer though and it was honored.

I bought the white L/XL hat per reviewers who thought it ran small. It is not washable. Spot clean only. As I bought this for long sunny days watching my grandson play soccer and baseball I do not anticipate that being a problem.

Top is a lightweight almost vinyl material. Brim is somewhat bendable to the profile you prefer. Bought on sale. Black and white chinstrap color does not bother me. It is the same as my other EB hats and I never noticed.

Needed a hat for my Grand Canyon/AZ trip — this one did just fine. I almost didn’t get it because it said “spot clean only” — WHY? Is this not for the purpose of being active? It’s going to get dirty from my sweat, at the least.

Anyway, bought it, packed it just fine, and wore it multiple days in a row for morning and afternoon hikes in the Southwest. It’s a little heavier compared to some other brands, but not a big deal to me.

The brim worked fine for me, although I was using only a daypack and not a normal backpack for backcountry camping. It stayed on my head for all the wind gusts, so that was perfect. I soaked it in the streams on our way back up bright angel trail from the colorado (felt awesome, really soaked up the water).

I hand washed it in some dawn when I got home and so far it still looks great. Not sure how long I can get away with doing that, but that’s the plan.

I purchased this wonderful hat in three different colours as I love it. It gives full sun protection on your neck, ears and the brim is excellent too for across your face. The chin strap is brilliant as on windy days out it doesn’t move and there is no worry about holding onto the hat.

The delivery is great, from Australia to the UK takes five days and I received regular email updates about the progress of the order. I particularly love tracking my precious order and watching it travel across the world to me.

I didn’t realise that the back was actually legionnaire style as it didn’t say that in the description for the women’s hat. It fits ok but it definitely not a fashion hat, but is good sun protection.

I would prefer that the back of the hat brim was a bit more structured like the front brim, which is what I was expecting. Also the pony tail hole is quite small for someone with thick hair so it is actually difficult to get the pony through especially as it interferes with the draw string to tighten the hat size.

In further hat designs that accommodate a pony tail, you might consider having the back brim split with an overlapping section with velcro fastening to go around under the pony tail. I have a hat that does that but is too small which is why I purchased this one.

The hat I got as black and so far its been a godsend. I love it. It works and doesn’t look too dorky. I use it at work where I’m under the blazing Los Angeles sun for hours a day. I’ve tries all hats from huge straw to other canvas safari.

I must own 15 plus hats. This one keeps my head the most comfortable with the least obstruction. My head doesn’t get hot and the brim cover much much more than a baseball cap, It’s made huge difference and I’d have to say its worth the money.

I also love how it folds up flat and fits perfect for my backpack taking up no space.

Great hat ! I have an 40 year old filson hat. this wax haven hat is of a lighter material but seems just as waterproof (I re waxed the hat when I received it ). the problem with my old filson hat it only has a 2 7/8th inch brim which isn’t enough to keep the rain off my glasses or off my face and neck.

the wax haven 4 inch brim does ! Also does a great job as a sun hat. whereas the old filson lacks in that department too. I will still use straw hats as the ultimate hot weather sun hat but for foul weather the wax haven is perfect for the cooler weather here in the Allegheny National Forest.

This hat for well but the first time I wore it in the rain it leaked from every seam. If your looking for an all weather hat look elsewhere. It’s also pretty heavy so not really great for sun protection on hot days.

My objective with this purchase was sun protection and I was happy to see that the hat brim is quite deep. The hat provides a good balance between being just flexible enough to roll or fold up, without being too floppy.

I don’t think it will stand up to being packed tightly in a bag. I have a smaller head size and was not sure about buying a “One Size” hat but it sits up nicely and holds its shape well.

This hat is great! Keeps the sun out and you can pack it if you put tissue in the hat to somewhat keep the shape. It’s bendable not stiff but I wouldn’t recommend rolling it up.

I’ve had to have hats made to fit or stretched. It was fun to buy a hat an actual size larger than necessary so now I can choose to have a braid or a Barrette in my hair and the hat will still fit. Also it has an adjustable ribbon so I can make it tighter if necessary.

I had to change a size of one of the hats and customer service was great.

The hat showed up stuffed in a box that was too small. The straw was broke in a lot of places and the hat was misshaped. I don’t know if I will ever get it back to the correct shape. As far as fit goes, feels very comfortable.

Material is very low quality. Very disappointed in the product and also Cabela’s for their lack of shipping properly.

This is the perfect sun hat and the firm brim holds up well to the wind on the beach. I have a larger head and was concerned that the women’s hat would be tight but the lining on the inside provides a good snug fit that is not too tight.

Love love love this hat! Used on safari – crushable for packing, adjustable fit to stay put without being too tight, lightweight (especially important when hanging down your back w/the tie at your throat), bendable brim for flexible shading for different light conditions, and stylish to boot.

I have bangs, so “hat hair” is a real problem. But for the most part, not an issue with this hat – I just drew them to one side and tucked them into the bit of space just above the base of the crown.

I absolutely love this hat. It is comfortable, adjustable, stays on when the wind is windy and looks great. I wanted a cowgirl hat and a sun hat for gardening, this is the perfect combo. I was worried it would be too big since the smallest size they have is medium but it can be adjusted (comfortably).

It is also lightweight and cool for those sunny days.

I bought this hat 2 years ago, but somehow smashed it and deformed it a little. So decided to buy the same hat (black/gray) again. I’m a woman with a smallish head. It’s very difficult to find a hat that fits great but this one does once it’s broken in a bit.

Nice sun hat. Brim is wide enough for reasonable sun protection when sun is overhead but isn’t rigid enough for when it;s windy. It’s lightweight and dries very quickly. Washes well (by hand). More ventilation would make it even better as I overheat quickly when hiking, but as sunhats go, it’s still light enough to not contribute too much to that.

I wear these hats for a lot of hiking and gardening. I was a bit surprised at the sizing because it was listed as being for women. I’m female, have a big head, and usually wear a size XL in the Outdoor Research unisex sun hat styles.

I was concerned the XL in this women’s style would be smaller as is often the case, but was surprised when it actually fit slightly larger than my other XL hats. I probably could’ve got a size smaller but the XL is fine.

I don’t like things to fit too snug and the fit of the hat can be adjusted by a cinch at the back. I’ll likely purchase another. I like to be outside a lot but have to be careful of sun on my skin so am usually wearing a decent had for coverage if I’m going to be outside for anything more than a few minutes.

This hat provides good sun protection with a fairly wide brim. The synthetic material is cool, crushable, washable and lightweight. The adjustability makes it work for me, but if an XS size were offered, that would be ideal.

That string sure isn’t stylish but I tuck it towards the back of the hat when not in use, and it is of course functional in windy conditions. Reasonably priced, lots of color choices. I ordered the Haze color which appeared online to be grey, but actually is a light greyish lavender.

I’ve wore a cap when I go for hike. But some of my friends wear this type of hat and looks protect from the sun very good. I saw their face totally in shade. Eventually I purchased this hat and worked very well.

Right weight and almost forget to I’m wearing this. When it’s windy, just tighten drawcord. I wasn’t sure the colour, but I like it. Neutral colour. Not too dark, not too pale. It goes well to any outfit.

Love it! Love the colour, the little hidden pocket, the adjustable chin-strap (with its own little stowaway pocket if not required). Very comfortable to wear, with just the right amount of structure in it to keep its shape without feeling hard or rigid.

It also has an inner headband which wicks moisture away, has discreet ventilation holes, built-in insect repellent, and a UPF 40+ sun-protection coating. I may yet get the other two colours, as I really can’t imagine finding a better one – it has been made to a very high standard of quality.

Bought this for a three week trip to the Australian Outback. Had no discernible insect repellent properties, in fact seemed quite the reverse, to the extent that the rest of the group started calling me “Buzz”.

They are available in two sizes, Small/Medium and Medium/Large. Fine for Small or Large heads, but if like me you have one of those rare Medium sized heads, then neither is a comfortable fit as there is no adjustment available.

The brim is just rigid enough to prevent it from being neatly folded up and put away, yet responds immediately to the first drops of rain by yielding to gravity and following the contours of the wearers head.

It did shade my eyes from the sun though, so that one star is well deserved.

Odd shape. Fine when the foreign legion flap is deployed, but looks quite peculiar when folded away. Quality is decent, but these are often sold for 30, which is definitely over-priced. If pressed, Id have to say if Id examined one in a shop I would not have bought it.

I love this straw rancher style hat, it has exceeded all of my expectations for a new summer hat that is NOT a ‘basic’ (everyone has one) fedora. The two major style points that hit for this hat are 1) It is true structured haberdashery made, the straw material is stiff and well formed.

There’s no squishy/floppy/crushed or flat business with this hat. 2) The color contrast of the cinnamon color twill ribbon and same twill trim on the edges of the wide brim is Beau. ti. ful!!! Trust me, there are not many hats out there like this one in the women’s accessories area.

Received so many compliments (which is nice but really when you put on this hat, you know you look good. Polished!). It’s a pure Bespoke beauty. Buy it. For reference I usually wear a sz M in hats like this but opt’d for a L for ‘big hair’ hairstyles and option to wear scarfs under the hat.

The M fit good and natural but the L does the job to sit more flushed with my brow.

This could work for either gender, as the description implies. I ordered a large without giving much thought and had to return. As a female hats typically fit me well, but this one isn’t very deep or tall so the large felt too loose.

If you want to share the hat with your significant other, you could make it work with hair pinned up in a thick bun; otherwise I would order a medium for a comfortable fit next time. This arrived from Nordstrom in a cardboard hat box and wrapped securely in plastic.

This hat is light, comfortable and provides excellent sun protection. I have had skin cancer so am very careful in the sun and always researching good UV protection. I feel safe wearing this hat and more confident to enjot the outdoors on a sunny day.

The hat is available in different sizes, so ensured a good fit. It is comfortable to wear and offers good sun protection. The strap ensures that it stays attached even in blustery conditions. I bought the purple one for my wife and it’s a good colour.

We saw this at the Yorktown shop on sale and picked it up at a good price. I had foam inserts left over from my Akubra and was able to make her new hat fit well. Good to keep the summer sun away and highly recommended for a casual look as summer winds down.

This hat is incredible for fall! The color is perfect, it’s light and it actually fits around your head so you don’t have to worry about wind just blowing it off. The material is straw-like so it won’t necessarily keep your head warm but it’s definitely worth the buy in terms of style and comfort.

I’m so bummed about this hat, because the brim width and crown height are so great. Two things that make it a fail for me. The brim really does dry all wavy. I have an REI Sahara hat I bought a couple of years ago, and the brim is much sturdier and always dries flat, no matter how many times it gets wet from gardening, swimming in the pool or even crashing in waves in the ocean.

This new Sahara path hat is a sad imitation. In addition to to poor quality brim, I don’t like the tightening band, because it always droops down onto my eyebrows when I take the hat off and put it back on, which is frequently when swimming in the ocean in particular.

Going to try springing for a Tilley, next. This hat appears to be based on a Tilley Airflo hat anyway. Fingers crossed.

This hat has an absurdly large/tall crown not designed for a human head. If you look closely at the product picture of the closeup of the man wearing it, imagine how much head he’d need under there to extend to the top.

The photo is staged by cinching the internal band. Without that, the hat would come down the midpoint of an average person’s ears. In reality, it’s quite uncomfortable. I was surprised it didn’t provide more shade under the brim.

It breathes very well. It will be a great hat once they resize it for a human head.

I tested this out on a 5 day backpacking trip in Southern Utah and it performed wonderfully. Breathable sun protection that fits nicely with a chin strap for high winds. Mine soaked up a bunch of sweat which cleaned out no problem with a hand wash.

I have had a couple versions of the REI Explorer hat which I think runs small for a medium. This hat fits better and provides more sun protection via a wider brim.
