Best Highlights For Red Hair (2024 Updated)

For some reason it won’t let me select the color I used. I have this in magenta. When I tested the color I was pleased that it had more of a purple than red tint. It says to leave it in your hair for 20 to 40 minutes but I’ve worked with fantasy colors for decades and usually leave them in for 3 to 4 hours.

My first run through I left it in for 40 minutes and my hair is a level 11 to 12. The color that came out I was too embarrassed to even take a picture of. It was splotchy and a beautiful dark magenta in places and then a pukey pink color everywhere else.

Even if I had you to protein filler it still would not have applied the color correctly. It’s a super thick formula that is hard to spread but it does look beautiful in the balls shiny and bright. I actually ended up using another tube which is insane because my hair is not that long.

It also smells like a wet dog and it’s hard to get that smell out of your hair. Bottom line there was nothing I liked about this formula or the color. I immediately start doing olive oil soaps and Dawn dish soap to pull as much color as I could out.

It fades super bright. I’ve already managed to get it to at least a bright bubblegum pink color. I am however planning to remove it with a bleach bath. I’ve never really been a big fan of ion colors to begin with but I got this for free from a friend so I decided to try it.

I will stick with punky colors as is my favorite.

Alright, Summer Hair Hair, and she was a Beaute! Couldn’t have asked for prettier summer hair. So what did we work with? Well, alot, let’s run down the list: -Iroiro: Seafoam, Aqua, Neon Yellow (not pictured) -Ion: Cyan (mixed with Aqua) -L’OREAL Effasol Color Remover -Select Care 10 Clear Developer First, Iroiro is everything, it’s about 2x better than Artic Fox at a slightly cheaper price.

Ion is so-so, but man, do they have some AMAZING colors, just wish they would fix the crappy formulas. But they’re cheap, so, you get what you pay for. The color remover, TOP TIER the ONLY color remover I will EVER use.

I almost find it better and safer for at home use than bleach. Non-pros have to order it on Amazon, but it’s worth it ladies and gentlemen. The the developer is developer. As for how long this lasted.

Iroiro last the longest out of all of them. I do little to maintain longevity in my hair because I love changing it (as you can see) but so far it’s been 8 weeks(?). so try and guess which picture is the 3 week one (lol, it’s not a hard guess, lol, and little secret, I have done nothing to extend it, literally nothing).

I love the color choices in the Ion line. I am current trying out the brilliance line to see if it has more staying power. I currently am using this color and the Fuscia Permanent Hair Dye. While I absolutely love the color choices, I hate how fast I have to re-color.

My hair does grow fast, but not three weeks fast. I will have at least 2-3 inches of root growth that needs to be touched up. Most especially around my ears and temples. Does this compare to Wella? No, however it is always troublesome to find my color choices in the Wella lines at my local Sally’s.

I find myself either going to 2 stores, or nabbing all they have when I can find them. Great Colors, dull and needing re done way too fast.

I was born with blonde hair. But into my 20’s I had to start colouring it to brighten it up. And as I aged, I had to keep changing the colour I was using. but always in the “ash blonde” colour range.

Now, I am 78 and need to go lighter to blend with my almost white hair. The trick to beautiful blonde hair is to prevent brassiness. So, I have been using a purple shampoo and conditioner for years. The great thing about this hair colour is the box contains a purple condition.

It is the best purple conditioner I have ever used. It leaves my hair shiny and prevents any yellowing which is so important when you have grey or white hair. For the last 50 years, I have coloured my hair by myself, saving thousands of $$$.

If you have a hairdresser you know well, ask her/him to go with you to the drugstore to select the right shade for you. And don’t get stuck on one colour forever; you need to change as you age. BTW. The other reviewer did not select the right product for her daughter.

She should have read the boxes or asked the consultant what she needed.

This is my 1 and only hair dye that I’ll use, Loreal Paris Feria Intense Copper. I tried to picked the intense copper but wouldn’t allow me to click on it. I can’t tell you @lorealparis how many compliments I get on my hair color 🤩 As everyone tells me, the color suits me too a tea!!! I made the BIGGEST MISTAKE during the pandemic, I couldn’t finding Intense Copper anywhere.

The 3rd parties on Walmart, were asking for $100 and plus. No way, was I paying that. HUGE MISTAKE!!! Next time, I’ll pay. Vibrant, soft and fun! I started with light brown hair, level 5-6, and went to this beautiful, edgy red. I love it! Its the expected color shown on the box and just what I was looking for! Application can be messy, so take precautions before you even start.

The smell really isn’t strong IMO, and it doesn’t linger. Hoping the red stays vibrant and doesn’t fade too quickly. Very happy with this dye!! A few tips… Wear black, something easy to remove. I moved my bathroom rugs and made sure to put a damp wash cloth within reach to catch drips on my skin.

I always section my hair for even coverage. Use (better) gloves to apply, and don’t squeeze too much out, it’s rather runny.

I’ve dyed my hair at least a dozen times, but it’s been a while. I used Féria’s Coral Pink in March without issue, so I thought blue hair sounded fun and picked up Féria’s M10 Cosmic Azure.

I’m not going to knock off any stars for the dye being more dark blueberry on my hair, rather than the more purple blue on the box, because I had previous dye on my hair. But I will dock it all the points for the terrible formula.

It came with a scent ampoule, but that didn’t help. The dye made my eyes water profusely and my husband even commented on it. The dye dripped everywhere in my shower. I was able to clean the tile with bleach and CLR Mold and Mildew, but some of the grout is still blue.

While it was incredibly drippy, it didn’t penetrate hair well at all. I used almost the entire bottle of dye, rubbing it into my hair for 10-15 minutes, then waited another 10-15 while I cleaned blue hair dye out of the shower, and I still have areas where my hair is still brown/coral pink.

I would repeatedly work the dye into my hair and could see it wasn’t penetrating like you’d expect the dye formula to do. I do NOT recommend this dye and am now thinking about a nice, boring dark brown next, maybe not from Féria’s line.

Ive used this brand of hair dye since the very first time I dyed my hair at age 15 and its always been my favorite. Ive tried other brands through out the years but nothing looks as intense or lasts as long as this brand does.

The last year or so ive been using the power violets collection and they’re so beautiful! I love how intense the color comes out and it doesnt strip my hair at all. Along with the products to dye your hair they also include a shampoo and conditioner which make my hair so super soft and shiny! I wish I could buy it in full size bottles but I dont think they make it.

These dyes do have a strong scent you need to use them in well ventilated spaces. I usually have a fan going to help with air circulation. After using this dye I don’t experience any bleeding of color on my skin or clothes.

The color lasts for months on me before it really starts to fade. For reference I wash my hair once or twice a week. (But I shower more then that lol) I dye my hair around every 3-4 months. This is a great hair dye and I’ll definitely continue to use it.

I had put my hair light-medium blonde hair through three days of hell trying to remove a permanent toner that turned my hair a dull gray. Soap cap, baking soda, dandruff shampoo, dishwashing liquid, color remover—you name it.

By the time I was done, my hair was orange. I tried to correct it by putting a dark blonde color over it, but it was still brassy with plenty of red/orange tones. In despair, I drove to the local Walgreen’s and purchased a box of Garnier Extra Light-Ash Blonde 111 (White Chocolate,) hoping that the ash color would take care of the brass.

I applied it, left it on for 30 minutes and prayed. After rinsing and applying the after-color mask, I was ecstatic to see that my hair was a light beige blonde with slightly darker and lighter tones.

I will most likely have to use a purple shampoo to keep the cooler tone of my hair, but I am totally ok with that. I know that there are a lot of negative reviews on here comparing the older formulation to the new, but this was perfect for me.

I can’t believe how soft and shiny my hair is, because it literally looked and felt like straw before using this hair color. A total winner and a total lifesaver. Best box hair color I’ve ever used.

I tried out the Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Crème in a light brown shade. I have naturally dark brown hair with auburn tint in my hair, so I wanted to go a little lighter brown for the summertime.

The kit has everything you need and is super easy to use/apply, which I appreciate as other dyes can be quite difficult to use. It also wasn’t messy at all, which is a huge plus for dying hair in an apartment.

I loved how healthy it made my hair feel after dying, like so smooth and silky. It’s now been three weeks since and my hair is still feeling really healthy. However, the dye color didn’t work on me at all.

You can not even tell I dyed my hair unless I am in the sun, then you can see some highlights that look kind of light !but barely. If anything, it made my hair a little more red tinted than it naturally is, which is kind of strange.

I probably should have used bleach before using this, but the box had a picture of what my hair color would look like after using the dye and it was close enough to the color I wanted. Either this dye isn’t very pigmented or my hair just didn’t take to it at all.

Either way, I have used this dye in the past and had positive results, so it might just be the color I chose this time around.

For years I’m using L’Oreal Superior Preference 9G Light Golden Blond hair color creme. Always excellent, true golden color-tone that lasts me 8 weeks. It was time to color my hair but I couldn’t find this product, so I decided to try Garnier Nutrisse color cream in the shade 93 Honey Butter which described as Light Golden Blond on the box.

Omg! The color turned out ashy (which I hate bc it reminds me of my grey hair) with some weird pink undertone. Whatever grey hair I had – they came out same grey without getting any coverage. The instructions are identical to my favorite L’Oreal color creme, so I couldn’t do anything wrong while using Garnier product.

Appled and waited for 25 minutes, then rinsed it. Eveen remaining true golden color on my hair from last coloring session disappeared and turned into ashy ugly color. I can’t wait now to get rid of it ASAP! I can’t belive this product works for other people.

Waste of time, waist of money, awful results.

Color and brand is my go-to hair color. I have been getting my hair colored using this brand for over 10 years and I love it. It takes to my hair and allows me to lighten with each color session not to mention the natural sunlight also aids in lightening my locs.

My hair shines and feels amazing. I get compliments wherever I go and whenever I post a picture on social media. I won’t use any other hair color brand and my stylist knows it. If the soft brown shade isn’t available I will pick the next closest shade or go for their honey blonde which on dark hair is absolutely beautiful, a perfect color for lightening for the summer months.

My hair takes about two boxes/tubes and that does the job my stylist is able to saturate each and every strand for even color throughout and it works well with my natural highlights. I highly recommend this product.

This box is great to dye your hair red if you have dark hair. It comes with two different tubes. Bigger one comes out like a cream and its white ish, then the smaller tube is the actual “dye” or ink lol.

It’s labeled as “copper intensifier” or something like that. I was so indecisive to use it but it’s literally needed, because the bigger dye is just white. So you mix them together to get the red. I only bought one because I mixed it with two magentas to get my ideal red lol.

I was searching online for awhile of good at home hair color options-I’ve used plenty of boxes previously but I wanted a different color than what I’ve usually used. About a year ago I had my hair bleached at a salon and it was a terrible final color and my hair was highly damaged.

I came across this Hicolor for dark hair only and watch so many YouTube reviews. I am so pleased with the results-I mixed magenta and red to obtain the color that I ended with. I did have to apply twice to achieve to full color I wanted but that’s my fault since I didn’t let this process enough the first day with fear of my roots ending too bright-the next day I focused on my roots and I am enjoying the color.

It does require at most a 30 vol developer. If you’re looking to switch up your color at home without being disappointed, and shelling out a bunch of cash I certainly recommend this product!.

I love manic panic so much honestly, so i’ve never dyed my hair before and I was able to choose between manic panic or arctic fox and I’m so glad I chose manic panic. First off it was really easy to apply, we had a little bit of trouble at first because the brush didn’t really fit in the jar and we didn’t really want to use the dye bowl so we just kinda used the glove that was included in the bleach kit and slapped it on and it was really creamy and nice.

After I fully saturated the parts I was dying I still had more than half the container left which is amazing but keep in mind I only did the underside of my hair and my bangs. I slept overnight with it which, yes, it is safe to do that but I had to read up on it so I did that and I put the cap on from the bleach kit and a plastic bag and slept.

When I woke up my hair felt so nice honestly and the dye was still wet, probably because my head sweat or something (gross) but I showered and I noticed that it was a little bit hard to get all the dye out and i wasn’t sure whether i should have shampooed or not but I know when I got I still had color in.

My hair is wavy and I wasn’t sure what it would do so I didn’t put in any products and I just left my hair to dry. My hair didn’t even get frizzy while air drying, It kind of just felt very soft and conditioned and it had lots of volume and I was pleasantly surprised.

Its been around 1 and a half months and It is just starting to fade which is crazy to me and its almost turning into a peachy pink almost. So here are some things i’d like to include, I thought it would be a more purpley-pink color but It turned out to be hot pink which I am not even mad about and I kind of love it more, I wash my hair every other day which I was skeptical about and I thought it would make the color fade fast but it really hasn’t faded fast and if you go longer without shampooing it will probably last you even longer.

Overall I will not be using any other dyes other than manic panic.

I love manic panic in general. Have been using it since I was a freshman in High School and living in Brooklyn. The colors are always vibrant, don’t wash out TOO easily, unless you really want them gone, and easy to apply and saturate well.

I’m 28 now and decided that I really wanted a neon green money piece this summer. My money piece turned a little into a thick money stack, but I love it nonetheless. The color is super vibrant against my platinum blonde hair.

I have gotten numerous compliments on my green hair from young AND old, EVERY single day that I left my house. It was very easy to use this electric lizard semi permanent dye and it saturated my hair evenly.

I was a little worried with how small the jar is but so far I’ve dyed my hair 2 times and I still have 3/5 of them jar left. If I were to do my entire head I would probably need to use the entire jar, however, with the longevity of this color, I think it’s worth the price tag.

If I really wanted to strip my hair of this color, it wouldn’t be too hard to do either. Another cool thing my husband and I just realized last night after I installed new light changing bulbs in our bedroom is that if you have a blue bulb, your hair will glow! Super neat! All in all, I highly recommend Manic Panic, in essentially any color, if you’re looking to spice up your hair for a temp time!.

It works really well as a toner for bright blonde hair. My brightest strands were pretty spot on to what the image shows but most of my hair that was a bit darker dyed to a cool toned blonde. Which was very pretty.

It was almost grey but had more dimension bc of the purple tone. I went to the beach a week later and it washed out almost immediately- luckily my hair was short enough that I saved half of the tub for after.

Would recommend a strand test on each part of your hair(if your hair has different tones). Only negative was that it was very drying for my hair even after leave-in-conditioner. I have 3A curls and fine textured hair.

Originally when I picked the color off the lime crime website it looked more like a tan neutral almost with subtle hints of peach close to nude color, and then when it arrived and the I swatched it – it was so far from what it looked like on the website? Hence why I usually don’t like purchasing make up mostly “lipsticks” online.

However, I was extremely surprised how beautiful it was with little to no make up on and just very light mascara and lashes and how beautiful it went with my pale skin it wasn’t too dark and it wasn’t too late it’s the perfect shade for any occasion.

I wouldn’t say it’s a nude color, I guess it could be placed in the nude category but I’ve found it had more hues of browns grays purples almost like a very dry it out purple with subtle and when I say subtle I mean very subtle hints of pinks and peaches and just all sorts of colors that I can’t quite point my finger on may be a little bit of a gray but mix those all together and you get this beautiful cashmere color that goes on smooth! I love that it’s a liquid lipstick aka VELVETINE matte (so I know it won’t be coming off on my teeth, clothes, drinks or even when I’m eating greasy foods – THIS HAS STAYED PUT!) I’ll even go as far as saying it lasted one very long passionate date night with my husband 🙊🙈😂 (insert blushing emoji here)  This was actually my second time purchasing this shade, and I would definitely purchase it again and again! Limecrime has great sales from time to time so make sure to look out for that! I think they’ve rebranded their website at showing the exact color on different skin tones and even have multiple lips pictured so you have a better idea how it will look, from when it was just the same pair of lips that was always pictured in every shade! I recommend any of limecrime’s liquid velvetines as they are soft on the lips and go on very smoothly.

I first tried mystic on my dark/medium blonde hair, unbleached. It definitely came out like a teal, which I would normally be fine with, but it was a very green leaning teal. Most, if not all, blondes do not want green hair.

I hated it, but I somewhat expected it since blue+yellow=green. The next day I got blue smoke and put it over the weird teal-ish mystic and it was amazing. It ended up being a gorgeous royal smoky blue, exactly what I wanted.

It started fading, as expected, and I wanted just a really quick refresh so I used the mystic again for maybe 20 minutes, figuring there was no way it would turn green again since I was putting blue on top of blue.

It turned green again. Somehow, even more green than before. I have a lot of art experience and for the life of me, I can’t figure out how blue+blue=green. I genuinely thought the green tones wouldn’t show up on top of such a deep blue.

Now I’m mixing pony with blue smoke because I’m so scared of any sort of green tones showing up in my hair. It honestly has caused me so much anxiety and stress, which I have enough of without having green hair.

All of that being said, this formula is phenomenal. It smells good and is so creamy and easy to use. I used to have issues with my most bottom layer against my neck getting so knotted and I had to brush my hair multiple times a day to keep it from matting.

After using this, I haven’t had to brush it more than once in the morning and once before sleeping. My hair came out so shiny and healthy. I’ll definitely be stick with this brand, even if only a few of the colors.

Oh my god, I love this stuff so much. I used the jello color for the first time a few months ago. Bleached the ends of my hair til they were a brassy dirty blonde color (natural dark dark dark brown hair) and used gradually less bleach as I worked my way, hoping to get like an ombre type thing.

Anyway, I left the jello color in for about an hour and it was so beautiful! bright green at the ends getting gradually darker all the way up my head. It didn’t do much to the parts i got to a medium brown color, but it’s a vegan dye so i kinda expected that.

There were splotches on the tub but I immediately sprayed them with oxiclean and they came right up. It faded gradually to a pretty light green. Didn’t turn blue like a bunch of other green dyes. After a few months of the light green I switched things up getting the meadow color and I am in love!!! Left it in for 2 hours this time.

really rich beautiful almost emerald green on the bleached parts and it even tinted the unbleached roots of my hair. It has a slight blue ish shine to it but not too much. I am so happy with how it turned out.

If this has the same staying power as the jello color, I won’t have to redo it for over a month (2-3 showers per week). It doesn’t bleed onto furniture or sheets as far as i’ve noticed. Water doesn’t run clean in the shower for a really long time, but I don’t know of an “unnatural” hair color dye where the water DOES run clear for quite awhile.

I give this an amazing five stars because PRAVANA?????? CHROMO-SILK??? IT MAKES MY HAIR FEEL LIKE FEATHERS!!!!!!! SOFTEST!! I ONLY KNEW That she was using this product brand well product and brand name was when she said it in front of the shampoo bottle I looked over out of curiosity and never forgot this name and I knew it was chroma silk! So I asked her when she finished putting this color which was a violet blind it was just like not purple at all but not exactly blue either very very beautiful color and it was in a light do you know Violet of course not that bold!-not this one, meaning me! LOL.

 BUT THE SIIIIIILKYYYYYYYY IN THIS PRAVANA CHROMA-SILK IS AN EYE-GRABBER!! If I’m in ANY SELF-CARE STORE W/ these kind of name brands/products?? IT’s ALWAYS PRAVANA IM SEEKING!-because my best friend which is my hairdresser I know that any color even brought bright sun shine yellow, or it was sun orange yellow or Sunkist yellow I cannot remember because it did not go on my hair after all LOL but I do remember it’s one of those it was so bright wow! Anyways it turned out very beautiful because this girl skin was almost negative white literally no offense just was a beautiful beautiful milky white skin color!!!! So with this wow bright yellow hair which some people are thinking I know when they look at her hey did you mean to get blonde or yellow because the blonde is yellow after all we know this or a “golden “OK whatever it’s yellow! LOL, I would recommend this and do you recommend this or even ask someone if I am noticing the beauty of their hair have you heard of this so-and-so called product called PRAVANA!!???? So yes that’s what I’ve gotten to now I would recommend this and do recommend this and even bring it up when I think the person is holding this brand and looking into coloring their hair with this or having it colored always it’s very very very rare you’re ever going to see anyone having this product and coloring their own hair with it! Every person I’ve spoken to that is even heard of this brand has only had it done or know someone who has had it done in this brand specifically! I love what it did for my hair and now I’m back to the basics and need superduper help from the one and only… @influenster !!!!.

So I’m going to start by saying that this hair dye is my go-to vivid dyes, they are amazing, all except for the pink. DON’T BUY THE PINK. Seriously, I have no idea why they are all amazing and that one color is such a dud but whatever.

I’ve been doing vivids for over six years now and I have always used Pravana. I was absolutely bummed when they discontinued the Locked-In line because when you are doing multiple colors they can bleed together and the Locked-In prevented that and it was amazing.

I really wish Pravana would bring it back because I know I’m not the only one who appreciated it. Unfortunately I did try the crystal colors and they were absolutely horrible, they left spots that were completely untouched and I had to completely redo my entire head.

The regular vivids are amazeballs though and I will continue to use them.

Dont assume since its not bleach that you have some extra time with this product. I decided to get fancy and do hi lite low lites at same time with out much help. Since Im not too experienced with doing my own hi low lites my method took extra time going back and forth.

Especially being only my second time doing this and first time with permanent color , I experienced my first mess up with this which resulted in breakage. So sad. But to any newbies dont forget this is not a semi color and it will not be as forgiving if you try some professional tricks and dont get the colors on in time.

The shade was exactly what I was looking for deep and rich. As expected the color remained vivid for much longer then the Demi. ( the strands that didnt break off that is. ) :/.

is my favorite at home hair coloring. I only by the red box (in the picture below). My usual shade is auburn or burgundy I received this black one as a free sample, I’m excited to try it. I love that it comes everything you need even includes Argan Oil to apply after.

My hair never breaks off when I use this coloring. I am natural I don’t bleach my hair before I use the kit the color comes out very nice pigmented. The color usually fades/grows out a little after a month for myself.

They say don’t use box dyes to color your hair but when you’re on a budget as a naturalista, box dyes can be your best friend to achieve a permanent color. I only use Creme of Nature box dyes at the moment and I picked up this one to achieve a medium brown color on my hair.

I knew I wasn’t going to get the Golden Blonde advertised because I have the blackest of black hair (I have to thank my parents for their genes more haha). If I am correct, it came with the bleaching powder, dye, conditioner and maybe a hot oil treatment.

The hot oil treatment was definitely appreciated but I still noticed color damage to my natural curls, which was expected. It definitely made my curls a bit looser and frizzy. I’m waiting on a box dye that doesn’t damage your curls in the midst of the process and I am still looking.

Overall, the box dye did it’s job and I use it every 6+ months to dye my growth.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the only other reviewer for this product (Violet Ash) because for some reason, the color didn’t take at all. It was kinda there immediately after application, but after my first wash post-color it seemed to completely wash out.

I actually came to this website to see how long I should wait before I can apply another shade. I’ve been a faithful user of Schwarzkopf since discovering it a few years back and every other shade is an easy 5/5.

This color is a new release and it looks absolutely beautiful on the box, so I hope they are able to tweak the formula so it performs as well as the other shades they offer. I typically use a color within the 4 range so I anticipated that it might not show up on old growth, but I have a skunk stripe along my side part that is solid white and although it has a slight lavender hue under certain lighting conditions- there is no way anyone could tell I tried to cover my grays just a week ago.

My hair is super shiny though… so this particular shade functions more as a glaze/gloss than a dye. *I would recommend and buy again, I already have my back up ready to go and I think Schwarzkopf has the best at home color products… just not this particular color.

It’s a dud.

Charcoal Fushia: I have dark brown hair with a 3 inch wide grey skunk formation from crown to back of skull. I look good in cool toned reds which are hard to find. Been using a high lift magenta that’s fine for my long hair but doesnt cover grey n gives hot roots.

I orderd this fushia and strand tested on grey bangline and bangs. Easy to use, easy to rinse, 0 bleeding, 0 scalp staining. When finished all grey was covered. It came out a beautiful medium darker bright cool toned red/fushia/magenta and left hair soft without conditioner.

LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.

This was my first time using this brand of hair coloring. My mom uses Schwarzkopf metallics. That’s the only one she’ll use. I really liked this hair coloring. It mixed very well. I usually use Vidal sassoon and when I mix that it stays a little lumpy.

This applied nice in my hair, not runny, a nice thicker consistency. It rinsed out well. The color turned out great, dark red just like on the box. This is my new favorite brand.

I mixed equal parts Satin 7A and Satin 6N, about 50/50 with Satin Demi developer for my roots. Then mixed another bowl of Satin 7A and Satin 8N for the rest of my shoulder length hair to cover grow out that became too light and brassy.

I’m naturally about these levels, but years of coloring and grow out gets dry and multi colored brassy leaning towards level 8/9 on ends. Roots about 20% grey. Results: nice color blend and coverage, natural looking with some gold reflections.

Not orange or cherry coke or violet, no green from the ash. Did roots first with a brush, then mid section with gloved hands. I quickly mixed some 9A for ends but didn’t really need it. Roots about 30 minutes, mid about 25, ends 15.

I’ll do this again and leave it on longer now that I know I like it. Very pleased, very natural looking. Might pop a few highlights in around my face soon. But lots of dimension just with these colors.

Nice mid range light brunette. Hair feels very soft after only 1 wash out shampoo condition. Much richer truer brown than ion or wella. I find wella pulls really cherry/orange on me. Good luck.

I started using Ultra Vivid Fashion Color 3N about 5 years ago when I couldn’t find the brand I had previously used. At first, I declined using it when a sales women at a beauty supply store recommended it.

After seeing it in the 3rd beauty supply store I stopped in, I decided to give it a try. I decided it’s only hair. Right?? What I loved about it first was the fact it came in a large tube of 3oz. I also liked the idea of it being Aloe Vera based low ammonia cream hair color on the market.

Once I realized it was carried in all 4 of the beauty supply store’s in my area, well I didn’t feel as nervous to try it out. I also might add the price was very appealing, between $9 and $10 dollars! My hair is long and medium in thickness.

I’d say the length is close to my lower back. I do have some gray hair, more than I’ll admit too😉. Mixing the Satin Hair Color with the developer I used a 1oz Satin Hair Color to 1oz developer ratio just like the direction stated on the box.

I followed the directions for gray coverage otherwise the ratio is different. Since I was depositing hair color and not lifting, I used a 5 volume so my hair wouldn’t get damaged or fried in the color process! I purchased a hair color bottle with measurements stated on bottle and started with measuring out 3oz of developer and then added the Satin Hair Color.

After shaking for a minute the bottle started turning a light brown color. I then checked the measurement in the bottle and I had exactly 6oz. Application was pretty straightforward for those who’ve colored their own hair.

The hair color once mixed was not to thin or to thick and came out very easily. It will however stain anything it comes into contact with. I have noticed I can get it off most anything except wood doors, floor, and countertops take awhile before your rid of it, so apply with caution.

Once applied I left hair Color on hair for the full 45 minutes. I also used a plastic cap once I finished apply hair color. When it was time to wash I first rinsed my hair very well,shampooed twice, and put on a 3 minute conditioner.

Color easily washed out of bathtub And bathtub walls. After, I styled as usual. What I noticed immediately was my hair was vibrant and had a good shine also I couldn’t get over how soft it was for being colored and it smelled amazing.

The corned lasts a good amount of time. I normally need to redo my grow out every 6 weeks. I have absolutely ZERO complaints when it comes to Satin Hair Color Vivid Fashion. It is a product I highly recommend and have used nothing else in 5 years!!.

The whole Developus/Satin line is extraordinary. I discovered it in a small beauty supply store in Sherman Oaks California that sells to a lot of movie and television hair and make up professionals. I was standing next to a woman who stood with about thirty boxes of Satin and who was the lead stylist for the TV series, Friends.

The colors are stunning, but the shine is over the top, probably due to the aloe vera/silicon components. Make sure you use the Developus developer along with the Satin color. Developus makes a developer formulated especially for gray hair.

I do my own color, but have my hair cut by a very good stylus. That saves me about $125 at the salon. Based on his observation of my color, my hair’s luster, and how well Satin handles gray hair, he started using it in his salon.

It’s actually targeted for professional use. I was lucky to find it.

I am not a newbie when it comes to dying my hair. When I was in high school, the Toby McGuire Spider-Man movie came out and I was in LOVE with MJ’s flaming red hair – I spent two years trying to recreate that red dream.

Then during the quarantine I vegged on Brad Mondo content and reflected on all the things I did wrong in high school. So when Splat offered me a fashion color VoxBox, I was low key excited! My hair was not virgin, so I broke up older brown dye (from another VoxBox) using a baking soda rinse (which worked really well judging by the evenness of Splat color distribution).

Once I had completed the baking soda rinse, I let my hair rest over the weekend and then began my purple journey. First and foremost, to all the box hair dye makers out there – STOP GIVING PEOPLE LUNCH LADY GLOVES! They suck! They do not fit well and always break between the thumb and index finger (which my Splat lunch lady gloves did).

I understand you are trying to be as inclusive as possible and have gloves that should fit many many hands, but this is ridiculous! Secondly, this dye is no joke! The color and the developer (of some sort because there were seemly two that were mixed together in the same bottle) were in a pouch.

That’s fine for the developer, but not acceptable for the dye! It is extremely hard to control when pouring the dye from the pouch to the bottle and before I was anywhere near the bottle. After cutting the pouch open, it poured out onto my white counter even though I had shook the contents of the dye pouch down to the bottom.

(I got the dye up by immediately wiping the excess up with a paper towel and then pouring Clorox toilet bowl gel cleaner with bleach on the stain. ) Long story short, the color itself needs to be in a tiny bottle to save other customers grief.

Now, on to the color itself. Um, it’s not purple. It’s more of a plum. No “hot roots”, but it definitely doesn’t look anything like the box. So in some lights it does look purple, but in most lighting it looks burgundy, which after my adventures with red back in the day, I am just so over that.

Maybe if I call my stylist and have her put in cool toned, true purple chunky highlights (and maybe a gray shadow root so I don’t have to panic as this grows out) this color will give me more of the purple fantasy I envisioned.

Upsides include minimal skin staining (even with the stupid torn lunch lady gloves), and no purple stains in the shower as I rinsed. I am not sure about color transfer to towels because I used an old PURPLE towel and my hair wrap is (ironically) also purple.

Bought the double lift permeant color i red thinking it would be as advertised and really be a permeant color. What a total LIE. Colored my hair as directed and they color was just as it was advertised on the box.

I rinsed and rinsed but the water never went clear. So I dried my hair ad went about my day that is when the true nightmare began. The next weeks would be full of crying and regret. It has been 3 weeks and the color is still bleeding out of my hair, it has ruined towels , bath mats, shower curtain and even my shirt.

I can’t go out in the rain because as soon as my hair gets wet it bleeds down my shirt weeks later. I can’t go swimming because it bleeds out in the pool. There is nothing that sees to stop this nightmare.

I contacted support and they told me all the colors they sell are really semi permeant DO NOT BELIVE THE LIE THEY PRINT ON THE BOX. Steer clear.

Well I definitely didn’t plan to be a red haired lady again. 😆 Wish color would have turned out to be more purple plum than red but I’m not complaining, after all is just hair dye. As you can see from photos, the back is always the hardest for me to perfectly dye.

I have a lot of hair and even though I did trim it recently one box is just never enough for my whole head of thick hair. Now let’s talk about the pros and cons of this product: PROs ✅ – Available in four shades.

Makes it harder to get everything into the small opening of developer bottle without spilling. Very inconvenient. – Strong scent. I tend to dye my hair in the bathroom but this one smelled so strongly that I had to do it in a more open area which made it messier.

– The gloves and processing cap sucked. Gloves broke half way through the process and my nails and between fingers got all colored. Overall, not thrilled about this one. I can get on board with the color although it’s more bright red than purple.

I just didn’t appreciate how messy the whole application process was. For box dyes I prefer the color creams, developers, and color concentrates to all come in bottles. If not possible, than a disposable mixing bowl with brush would make it easier to mix.

If brand can change those items and add better gloves and cap than I can see myself purchasing in the near future.

Perfect if you know what youre doing. Blue cancels channels of unwanted yellow, gold to barely brassy. Its not a bleach. It does HL all the way to 12 which is a level ten in most other shades. Its not platinum but is close.

You make it platinum by adding two caps crabber violet or choose VIOLET-Blue. This is a Blue only base. Its true ash. If you leave too much gold and dont lift enough it will look slightly greenish until two washes and then reveal a pretty flaxen gold more wheat looking blond.

If youre really last a 9. 5 level light youre perfect result will be over-the bleached level 10 which will look punk redhead orange yellow=too gold that ugly color will make it shine when you replace the lens of blue hair color limiting it all to one channel of pale yellow through like a Miracle, the icky color is blocked.

If your hair was stained with dark brown box color, youll need to keep bleaching the mid. Until that stain is lighter and grows out. Until then, adding one cap violet toner level crabber will make it milk white.

Went from a level 7 permanent red to a level 7 blonde with T35. A good round of bleach took off quiet a bit of the red but I still had really dark orange. T35 blended everything so well and made the burnt orange color a nice strawberry blonde and helped out all the other yellow and white I had going on after the bleach to make it all a really nice blonde.

I didn’t have any experience with bleach or toner. Or even doing my own hair. I’ve never even been blonde before either so, thank god for strong hair.

I bleached my roots, that’s new to me. My ends were purple white, which I loved, but my roots were still yellow-ish. I’m letting my 16 yo daughter do it bc she wants to, and we will learn together. If all my hair falls off, that’s cool too.

Bc I and your and everyone are beautiful no matter what. But we have a desire to look like what we we want to look like, right? And in a few minutes, we will see if this fixed the brassiness.

I’m a natural redhead whose hair colour began to fade from lack of sun throughout COVID. It still looked red, but had lost its natural red punch. I started using Light Mountain’s Light Red in November and it is almost identical to my natural red, except with the punch that had faded away.

I love it and it has me feeling like my old, redheaded self again. My hair still has strong red undertones so I only leave it on for 90-120 min and wash it out quickly. I have a few natural blonde streaks in my hair and this product gave them a gorgeous, strawberry-blonde flair.

I purchased a few other henna hair products in red that I stand-tested before doing my whole head and Light Mountain Light Red was easily the most gorgeous colour. It looks SO natural. The first time you use it, you will do your whole head (after a strand test to make sure you like the colour and that it responds well to your hair).

This will be a messy day and I recommend having a friend help you. After the first time, you only need to do your roots as this henna fades to a very natural looking red and stays beautiful. Root touch-ups are a learning curve but quickly become a breeze if you follow any of the henna hair walkthrough videos on YouTube.

I’m in love with this product and cannot recommend it highly enough. It’s a very subtle saviour for natural redheads looking to strengthen their existing red colour if/when it fades. Note: Do not panic when you first die your hair as the colour will look Orange! This is called the “orange panic” and I promise you it will fade after a new weeks.

You can use a blow dryer to help it oxidize more quickly. I added olive oil after researching ways to subdue it. I also cried a lot and hid in my house as much as possible, but I promise the shock of orange does fade after 2-4 weeks.

LOVE this product. Been using it for years now. I mix the different colors and add spices etc. to make it uniquely mine. I use about 1/3 of the package of each color. I leave it on for about 1 hour (great for grey hair).

I add in a conditioner as it sits in my hair. Absolutely beautiful results.

I am very pleased with how healthy and simple the ingredients in this hair colour are. I was worried about making the switch from conventional chemical dyes at the salon to natural henna, but I am so glad I did! Not only did the colour turn out beautiful, but my hair is also shinier, smoother, and softer.

Even the split ends are improved. And I feel great knowing I’m not applying harsh chemicals to my body. Taking off one star only because of how long and tedious the process is. Between the mixing of the powder, the application, the 3.

5 hour wait, and the rinsing out, it took around six hours. But based on online tutorials and reviews, this seems pretty typical.

I would consider this product to be more like a pink version of virgin snow. I understand tints and light hair dyes work best on platinum hair, BUT, I felt it was advertised more as a fully saturated dye.

It’s my fault that I didn’t look into it more, I assumed it would be thicker and more pigmented. I love manic panic and figured I’d give it a try after 10 years and I gave my hair some time to heal. However, even the fully platinum parts of my hair were just slightly tinted after using two bottles.

From my experience the dye hardly absorbed into my hair I even left it on a bit longer than instructed. I wish it had been advertised more as a pastel toner gel, I’m sad to be writing this review. It’s not a bad product, it just wasn’t as advertised.

Like I said it’s more like virgin snow than a full color, I suggest that they make some adjustments on the sample pictures and description. If you’re looking to SLIGHTLY tint platinum blonde hair to a pastel light neon pink color, then this is for you.

If you’re looking for full saturation, I’d go with one of their darker colors. It really was like a thin gel and hardly stuck to my hair, I understand the less blonde parts not being fully colored, but it was disappointing to have such an underwhelming effect on my super blonde sections.

My hair was left feeling soft, looking healthy and shiny so no complaints there, awesome formula, disappointing color. hopefully I have better luck with a deeper pink.

I bought this color for my son. We both regularly dye our hair with Manic Panic. For some reason Pillarbox red has been an absolute nightmare. It is constantly bleeding on EVERYTHING. His hoodie, bedding, pillows, shirts, my bed, seat on his bus, my car seat, my stainless steel sink, etc are all red.

I would give 1 star of I didn’t know and love manic panic. I have been using it for 30 years! I washed his hair 5x 2 days in a row for a total of 10 times and it is still happening. I am losing my mind.

All his clothes are getting ruined. I don’t want to rate quality because I don’t want to bring the rating down if there is just an issue with this batch. I just wanted to share my experience.

I actually used the shade 210 Lavender, but that one isn’t available to review on here. So I took a huge leap of faith, and dyed my hair an “unnatural” color all on my own! My hair was on the dryer side when I decided on undertaking the dye job, and I couldn’t believe how much dye it sucked up.

I actually used two of the packets of 210 Lavender dye on my belly button-length hair, and had none left over. To be honest, I wish I had a third packet to really apply it thoroughly, because I was nervous about running out the whole time.

The dye feels like a conditioning hair mask. I lightened my hair to a bleach blonde almost white months ago and chose just to rock some natural roots with the purple color, so I’m not sure hot well this dye applies to freshly lightened hair.

The dye is pretty forgiving, for anyone that wants to do it themselves. After carefully applying the dye, making sure each strand was fully saturated, and waiting a little over a half hour, I washed out the dye.

When the dye was fully rinsed, my hair texture still felt healthy and didn’t feel overly processed. I found that the color stuck pretty universally, and didn’t experience any areas holding the color better than others.

Does stain hands.

For a back story I am a natural sandy brown and my hair is in a mohawk currently. So I purchased the iroiro neon blue and first I did a bleach kit as I mention darker natural hair as I wanted to get the full effects of the neon.

So bleached first then onto the color. I applied the color and left it on for 45 minutes so that i would get the bright vibrant blue i wanted. 45 minutes later i wash dye out under cold water as warm will fade it, didnt want that.

However I have been dying hair for 20+years so I’m experienced and know what I’m doing. I am almost a week out and I literally look like I used one of the 1q 0 washes dye because I havent washed it yet but it looks as if I’ve pretty much combed it right out.

This is by far the worst hairdye I have ever used. I’ve used numerous brands and numerous different colors and I will never purchase this brand again. I would not recommend it as it does not do what it stands behind.

Worst product ever.

I had this put in by my hair stylist. She did research before buying a green color. This was her first time doing both green and this brand. This is 350 Neon Green. I fell in love almost instantly when the color barely washed out of my hair when rinsing.

It’s so bright and very beautifully pigmented. The fade is absolutely stunning. And definitely is a 2 in 1 color taking less time to do a yellow to green fade in my hair. As it fades naturally. This one is also very UV reactive.

I sat in the sun about 3hrs about 8 days and 1 wash later and it was so nest to see the yellow green color. And then have it turn a darker shade indoors. This is by far my most favorite color I have ever placed in my hair.

I had her do a crown effect to my underlayment. With my natural color on top. And it’s the perfect balance between the 2. It’s been a month and 4 washes later. And I still cannot believe this is my hair now.

Definitely recommended.

IšverstiShow in original languageAt first, I was really confused by this product. I thought it was just your basic direct dye like the rest of Pravana’s other colors when I bought it. Imagine my surprise when I slathered it on my bangs and rinsed it out thirty minutes later only to find them a darker shade of green rather than black like I wanted.

That’s when I finally paid attention to what the box actually said and saw “additive” printed under the color on the end of the box. After I did some reading, I discovered you’re actually supposed to use this to darken other colors, not use it as a direct dye by itself.

Oops. Now that I know that, I’ve used it since then to darken up the Pravana Neon Green I normally use. It works like a charm getting the darker neon shade I want without diluting the UV reactivity of the neon dye.

The only reason I’m knocking off two stars is due to the packaging not being exactly clear on what this product is for. I had to find this out online. While I joke that I just wasn’t paying attention, I actually did read the instructions and there’s no mention of this that I saw on the instructions printed on the inside of the box.

All it has is the word “additive” in small, barely noticeable print under the color name. It’s easy to miss unless you throughly examine every facet of the box. If it stated that in the same size text as the color name, I think that would be very helpful and make the intention of the product way more clear.

IšverstiShow in original languageI’ve been dyeing my hair probably longer than you’ve been alive. Hehe. That said, I’ve tried literally everything, and I can tell you that I always go back to Pravana for bright, semi-permanent color.

It lasts a loooong time, can stain almost everything, but again, it lasts a long time and the colors are true to the tube. Keep the color wheel handy because it all depends on how you mix the color with your existing hair color and if it’s pre-lightened, which is recommended.

I’m usually in the blue ranges when it comes to hair color but will occasionally get out of my comfort zone and do a green or a purple like this one. To get around some of the staining, I make a custom color conditioner with 2/3rds conditioner to 1/3 of Pravana.

I like to use a lighter, color safe conditioner and I use it every third shampoo. This will help the color last even longer even between the time I need to re-bleach my roots. I’ve got an esthetician license and I get mine that way, but I’ve seen it on Amazon.

Read all the reviews though and use the Fakespot browser extension to check review legitimacy. I’ve read that they might be selling fake product, so buyer beware.

IšverstiShow in original languageI personally did NOT like this at all. My hair was already pre lightened to a very very light blonde I would say a number 8/9 and this didn’t take at all. It could be that my hair was a little damaged from bleaching but literally did nothing for me.

Hopefully other people have better results than I did. It was also on clearance at cosmo prof. It was always in stock when I went there too so definitely wasn’t selling a lot. That’s just my opinion tho.

If anyone had different results I would love to know because never know maybe I’ll give it another try. Maybe there’s a trick to it lol.

This hair color is and does exactly what it says- even for purple! I applied it to my 6 year old’s hair because she SOOOO wanted to be like mommy! Mind you, she was in the first grade and they weren’t allowed to do any of that stuff! However, I applied to her light brown, wavy hair in chunked sections and turned out perfect! You could see a beautiful prismatic purple in the sunlight but just her lovely brown indoors.

I showed her and she flipped out and fell in love! Best of all, it was gone within around 8 washes! We were fans for life!.

I love the consistency of this hair dye, it’s not too liquid and not too solid. It smells neutral and is easy to mix and apply. After using it my hair looked very shiny so it’s definitely moisturizing for the hair.

However the colour is not the same as it looks on the package and the swatch. I added a bit of black to mine to make it darker but that didn’t do much. When I washed it after it had been sitting on my hair for the recommended time it looked like a dark burgundy red, it faded a lot with each wash, after a while it turned bright purple.

I actually quite like the colour even though it was not what I was intentionally going for. I do want to warn you: it stains very bad! It looked like a murder scene in my shower, my body turned literally purple.

It did go a away after using regular shower gel but just keep in mind that it can get pretty messy!.

OK so I ordered this product again because although its not a dramatic change it does look nice as a subtle toner. Doesn’t last long and gotta plaster at least half the bottle onto damp shampood hair and leave it in for hours but I’m happy with the result.

Worth it if u just want to take out brassiness without harsh chemicals and obviously it’s great cz it’s vegan. And super fast and free delivery too!.

This is my favourite crazy colour dye. Crazy colour is my favourite semi permanent out of all that I had tried. Its very good value for money and I find that the dye lasts quite a while in your hair.

It will fade pretty soon but it’s not so dramatic that you constantly need to touch up your hair. I’m a lazy dyer so this is the product for me. My hair always feels soft after using this, especially when it previously has been bleached.

I usually have long thick hair and use 2 to 4 bottles depending on length but that is still very affordable in comparison to many others because it comes to only about £20. My hair is currently down to I’d say the middle of my chest and I use 1 and a half bottles.

The only problem is the green can stain your hair and if you don’t know how to fix it (using the right toners for the colour issue) you can destroy your hair trying to get it out. This stained my hair and I tried a million awful ways to get it out of my hair and destroyed it in the process.

I’d have appreciated a warning with this type of colour, as I’d dyed my hair most colours under the sun, even a different type of green, without this happening.

I use the RV, the VV, sometimes the BB, and the PK, and I think this is about the best direct dye since sliced bread. I use it in a bowl with a tint brush, on hair that I foil-highlight first and let it rest and deep condition for a day.

I put it in dry hair, (just the highlights) and put on a plastic cap (for my pillowcase) and leave it overnight. If it’s not dark enough, I might do it again. It’s got amazing shine and is as close to permanent as I’ve ever seen-bleach barely even gets it out.

Yes, it bleeds in the beginning-bathwater, towels, etc. If you’ve ever used direct dye before you know the drill, this is just what comes with it. But after the first day or two it’s gone. It gives amazing color and shine, and lasts damn near forever.

I can’t imagine anyone giving this a bad review unless they’re just not using it properly, and in that case you should have in done in a salon.

The product is great. However, once the hair gets wet it does not stay on the hair. Without shampoo well understood. Z. b wen it rains. When showering with water only, the water also turns green. (Without shampoo) This is a bit of a shame otherwise it would really be a great product! The color is very intense and beautiful, and works great on brown hair.

The result was better than expected! Beautiful pastel color with lots of shine. But after 1 week (washed daily) is already nothing more to see of it. Looked nice until the end though and I didn’t have to remove it.

I would definitely recommend it!.
