20 Best High Sided Litter Box (2023 Updated)

This is without a doubt the best littler box I’ve owned over 40 years of using litter boxes. Like many other cat parents, I was tiring of constantly sweeping up tracked litter from a regular box which happens even with a rug or mat in front.

I remembered a friend trying a top entry litter box years ago with success. This one looked attractive and since I also wanted to move the litter box to the bathroom, I decided to try this one. But how to do that since cat’s don’t like change? Well when it arrived I put it in it’s new location in the bathroom empty, Cats are curious so my kitty couldn’t resist exploring it by climbing in/out several times, After a couple of days I added litter–a new curiosity to kitty! I had washed the box before putting it down empty so now I added a bag of fresh litter, topping it off with a couple cups full of litter from his old box.

I didn’t completely block entry to his old box but put stuff near enough to make it harder to get to it than the new box. Before long I noticed he’d used the new box. At that point I took up the old box.

Neither of us have looked back. He seems to like climbing into the box and sometimes sits on it when mommie uses her potty or takes a shower! The opening is large enough to scoop out waste without taking off the top each time.

It is so much easier to scoop that I now take care of that chore every time he uses it. It comes with a cute matching scoop which hangs on the side of the box which I have facing the wall. So final points: very little, actually almost.

no litter outside box. It is attractive and doesn’t even look like a litter box. The one thing to note is that the first time the top is installed, one does have to manipulate it around some (it probably is not out of line if it is difficult).

Once manipulated into place the first time then when lifted to dump litter caught on top it goes back into place easily. Another thing to consider is that completely full of water it is heavy and hard to empty so when washing, just fill half full.

Many new objects have a breaking in period but I do not have one complaint or negative to offer about this litter box. I love it!.

I bought this litter box because my kitten started standing up when urinating, thus resulting in my needing to clean the wall every day. She’s totally healthy – no UTIs or bladder issues; it’s just a behavioral aspect that has recently developed.

I bought this litter box to solve the issue of urine on the wall and couldn’t be happier! The opening in the top entry provides enough breathability so that the odors don’t get trapped and Cleo is more inclined to use it.

I think Cleo appreciates the privacy this litter box provides as well. I haven’t had any issues with the top falling in as other buyers have described, but I also went with the product I thought would best hold a 6lb kitten.

The top is easy to remove and replace for scooping and cleaning. I also enjoy that the ridged top thoroughly catches the litter from Cleo’s paws. I have a litter mat underneath the box, but I’ve noticed a lot less on the mat in general since purchasing this litter box.

I wanted to upgrade the litter box in our living room to something that was more aesthetically pleasing, but still functional and affordable. Our cat is comfortable with hooded litter boxes and is fine with enclosed spaces, so we figured this was worth a shot.

It is well constructed; I didn’t have any issues with the pieces not fitting like some other reviewers. My 11lb tabby is comfortable getting in and out of this litter box, and just hanging out in it, but he definitely prefers his standard you-can-get-it-anywhere litter box with the attached hood.

He will still use this one so I don’t regret buying it. I think he would prefer something where he can sit upright anywhere in the box, not just in the hole where he can comfortably squat while doing his business.

This is the MEDIUM size, the additional height of the large size may have been better for him. The width and length work for him though.

We have an older cat (Lew) who although his entire body is in the litter box, hangs his behind over the end and pees on the floor of our traditional litter boxes. Lew even manages to urinate between the lid and the bottom of a large domed box.

I observed him in action a couple times and decided to try these with a higher back. I particularly liked these because the front is lower and Lew has a few mobility issues from a youthful accident. This is the first week I have not had to clean cat urine off of the laundry room floor in a long time.

My new kitten loves my new corner litter box! In fact, even though she has a little bed in her new cat cage, she likes to sleep in this litter box! I put it in the corner of my Fresco Cat Cage. Works great and always looks shiny and clean.

Love that it is Made from FDA approved, pet safe plastic resin. Polished finish that is odor and stain resistant making it easy to clean. Those are the 2 reasons I bought it. Very easy to clean. Looks good in my cat cage and so far, has kept the litter inside the box very well.

And I love the price. Seems well made for such a reasonably priced box. And as a dual-purpose box, if you were to put a little cat bed inside it really also makes a nice cat bed.

I got the big highsided box. A couple of my cats dig in the box like they’re clearing a grave, litter all over the place (and sometimes some extras. ). Sometimes they flip the box because they step on the edge.

I’ve used this pan for about a week and no more litter flung far and wide. I love it. They can dig and kick to their hearts content and not make a mess. My cats are small to medium, so lots of room in the pan for them.

The price of this pan is worth not having to sweep every day or shake litter out of everything they kick it on. (My cats are serious diggers, it’s ridiculous. ).

I bought this because I like the pearly blue color, which is really pretty. And the rounded shape of the box is also attractive. (I know I’m not the only pet mom or dad shopping for looks, as well as function!) The four sides of this box slope inwards, which means the top edges of the pan are a lot larger than the base of the pan.

And that’s where the problem is for me. The area on which the cat stands is only 14. 5 inches long by 11. 5 inches wide, which means the cat pretty much has to stand in one spot to go. I’ve never had a cat step into a litter box and just stand there.

Mine like to move around a little bit. For comparison, one of my extra-large rectangular boxes is 22 inches long by 17 inches wide, a big difference. And since my 8 rescue cats are longer than 14. 5 inches, I’m concerned that waste is going to hit the sides of the pan, rather than the cat litter, creating a cleaning nightmare.

I neglected to notice that the front has no cut-out, and so it would be impossible for my senior, arthritic cat to be able to climb in. The right size potty makes everyone happy.

If I could give this item ZERO stars, I would. This thing can hardly look itself in the mirror and seriously call itself a litter pan. It was obviously designed by someone who doesn’t own cats or clean up after them.

Here’s what the smooth marketing lines don’t tell you: It has high sides, alright, and a very small flat area for Kitty to take care of business because there is too little space for the litter to be spread.

That means Kitty will be standing in litter/waste halfway up her legs and that YOU, Human, will be scooping several times a day instead of once or twice/day. When time comes to clean this miserable excuse of a “pan,” sure—the contents will slide out fairly easily but unless you live in a warm climate where you can use a hose year-round, you will be wrestling this thing in tub, shower, or laundry sink like a gator in a swamp because of its shape.

Then, after you have fought the fight and lean it somewhere to dry, it will roll right over. I am stuck with THREE of these horrid things and I don’t put them into play unless there is no clean other choice.

Petmate had to go and mess up a perfectly good product, which was their previous iteration of a jumbo/large litter pan. Don’t be like me and get suckered in. Run for your life and spend your money on a better pan design.

You and your pet(s) deserve it! Aaaaah, rant over; carry on.

Initially wasn’t certain if any of my boys (1 indoor only since kitten-hood + 2 adult feral rescues) would like it, but they all do. It appears they prefer not only the lack of hood, but also the size.

It is quite a big pan, but the smallest of my “herd” is close to 13 pounds (nope, not fat, just BIIIG kids). They each have room to do their business and turn the requisite number of circles before leaving it.

I haven’t tested without a u-shaped pseudo wall around it yet. I fully expected at least one to attempt to jump out the high side onto the box “wall,” but so far none has. Since I’ve put it in writing, one of them will within the next 10 minutes 😀 The curved sides/lack of square corners is AWESOME! No annoying spots that are hard to clean.

I use a metal slotted spoon for cleaning, have broken far too many plastic box cleaners over the years. The curves of the pan & the spoon work so well together. It is also quite easy to wash, again due to the curvature.

Overall am beyond happy. The price is great, the paw approval and the ease of cleaning make it a win win in my book.

The PetSafe® Multi-Cat Litter Box is a very good quality litter box that is absolutely perfect for a home with multiple cats. The main litter area is deep enough to ensure that cats have a harder time kicking out the litter and the area is definitely big enough to ensure that you don’t need to scoop every five minutes (once or twice a day is fine).

The box has enough weight to ensure it doesn’t tip over should you have a cat that likes to stand on the edge when using the bathroom. and the material used helps to prevent the litter from sticking.

I really like the provided scoop, great quality, metal and a good size to assist with scooping. This part of the product alone makes scooping so much easy and I really like that it has its own place in the litter box to ensure easy access as well as being more hygienic than just sitting nest to the box.

I also like the second compartment where I place bags so that I can just take one out when cleaning the box. Overall I am extremely happy with this litterbox, it is a great size for those with multiple cats and I had no issues persuading my cats from switching to this box.

The product is made from extremely good quality materials, is easy to keep clean and just makes the whole litter cleaning experience a little easier as everything you need is right there, This is a product that I thoroughly recommend to others and I will be replacing the other litter box in our house with another one of these.

Over the years, we’ve been through a lot of different litter boxes and it can be more difficult than you think to find one that is agreeable to both cats and their humans. PetSafe has done their homework with this multi-cat litter box.

It seems like a simple idea to have contained locations for the scoop and the waste you scoop, but to get that done before, I’ve had to buy multiple products which makes the litter area look cluttered.

This litter box helps contain the mess and the odor in one neat design. The box is large enough so my cats do not feel confined using it. The sides are tall enough to keep escaping litter to a minimum, yet not so tall that it’s hard for my cats to get in and out.

For humans, the two compartments on the end are perfection. They take up minimal space, but provide just the things I’m looking for – a place to store the litter scoop that isn’t out in the open and a place to keep the litter box scoopings for a few days so I am not wasting garbage bags each time I scoop.

You can easily line each of the two sections with a small plastic trash bag – I have one for the scoop side and one for the litter side and I change them out as needed. The magnetic lid does a good job keeping the odor in.

The storage section slips on and off easily so I can sanitize it regularly to keep everything fresh. It is sturdy without being overly heavy so it’s easy for me to move around. This has been a big success in my 2-cat household and I will be buying a couple more.

First thoughts when opening the box, this thing is huge! I had to re-think my litterbox location because currently my cats were using a much smaller top-entry box. Mocha and Fuzzly are really enjoying it though.

They do everything together and can literally go at the same time now, and Fuzz is on the very healthy side of the weight spectrum! It holds a very good amount of litter, I prefer that because it’s less of a chance waste gets stuck at the bottom.

It comes with a very durable, metal scooper. It’s the best. One of my cats insist on peeing in the exact same spot every time, I’ve broken scoopers with the heavy clumps of urine I remove. The compartment added to the box is handy at holding bags for scooping, waste and really any other little litter accessories.

I personally don’t use it to hold waste because I prefer to go ahead and take that to the outdoor trash. I am pleased the cats are happy! I have one that can be litterbox picky and the other, well I just think she’s spiteful and resist changes all cost.

(haha) I do feel like it’s hard to get a good grip on it to carry when I need to do a full clean out but that’s not too often. If you have a place big enough for it, it’s definitely a great choice for multiple cats.

Oh, I wish, wish I had read the reviews before I bought this litter box. I had purchased “Nature’s Miracle” items in the past and liked them, but this box? This box came with two stickers–one on the inside bottom of the box, and one on the outside by the opening.

The one inside? Impossible to remove. I have used everything: Vinegar and water, soap and water, rubbing alcohol, even peanut butter. Terrible, terrible sight, this is. I got so discouraged trying to remove the bottom inside sticker that I didn’t even try to get the one off on the outside of the box.

So here the box sits, with a sticker that constantly reminds me of how hideous the “Nature’s Miracle” sticker is/stickers are. I just now ordered a new box–and it’s cheaper. I hope I don’t have the same sticker disaster.

I would uncheck the box that asks if I recommend this item with this review, but the box won’t “uncheck. ” Seriously. Okay, enough about this box. Just want to let other folks know. Agh! I like Chewy.

com, and I did call and rant to a nice Customer Service Representative about this issue–asking her to to please let “Nature’s Miracle” know this is an issue with this box. No problem with Chewy. Just calling myself “CrankyPants” today as I’ve spent a good chunk of time this morning scraping and whining about a cat box.

Even the many warning reviews here did not adequately prepare me for the horror that is these stickers. There is, at least, some comedy to be found in spending hours trying to remove a sticker that specifically advertises this product’s non-stick surface.

I first scored the stickers, applied goo-gone for an hour, scraped, applied more goo-gone for another hour, and then scraped, scraped, scraped for about an hour until they were finally off, then washed the whole thing with soap and water multiple times to remove all the goo-gone.

The bottom sticker—the one that is actually important to remove—was the more recalcitrant of the two. Even if there were a non-stick coating underneath those godforsaken stickers (how could there have been?) it is surely gone now, given that I had to scrape it within an inch of its life.

Taking the place of the stickers are now a zillion little scratches in the plastic, perfect for trapping bacteria—hooray. Thankfully, it does appear to be large enough for my giant floofer of a cat. If your cat does not specifically need an XL litter box, save yourself some sanity and buy something else.

I like these Nature’s Miracle litter boxes. They’re large enough for my bigger kitties. This review is more for the shipping of the litter boxes. I ordered 2 of the corner litter boxes and 3 of the N.

M. rectangular litter boxes. The corner boxes were put in one shipping box each. And the rectangular litter boxes, 2 were placed in one shipping box and the third was placed in a separate shipping box.

Seriously Chewy?! Are you trying to waste shipping materials? You’re doing a good job at it if you are. I tried it out and ALL 5 boxes fit into one of the shipping boxes that the corner litter boxes were shipped in.

This is how they should have been shipped. Oh, and I checked the distribution center they all came from; they were all shipped from the same distribution center in Goodyear, Arizona. All shipped the same day/time.

You need the train your packaging and shipping employees better. Perhaps have them play Tetris to train them. [I have photos but this site isn’t letting me upload them for some reason].

My cat is on the larger side for cats. He isn’t a fat cat, he is just very large and muscular. Because my cat is a bit bigger, it also means everything else he does is bigger too (If you know what I mean).

That being said, I’m constantly looking for litter boxes and litter that just make the job easier for me to clean up after my adorable fuzzy friend. I felt that the PetSafe Deluxe Crystal Litter Box System was a decent system.

The litter box itself is a standard box but it has odor control vents on the sides as well as holes on the bottom under where the litter goes with a tray to add a pad to soak the excess cat urine. The litter box also features an anti tracking surface at the entrance of the litter box.

The litter system also comes with perfectly portioned bag of PetSafe Crystal Litter for the box. Prior to using this system I had only used traditional clumping cat litter and was not used to using the Crystal Litter.

I have found that the Crystal litter is pretty good at catching moisture from my cats solids, however most of the urine seems to end up in the bottom wet pad. Crystal Litter is also supposed to be better at odor control, however since the Crystals don’t seem to catch most of the urine, there is a large urine odor that comes from the box after approximately 1 week.

I do understand my cat is bigger, however the company states that the litter system only needs daily solid scooping before needing to change the pad and litter after approximately one month for a single cat.

As for the box itself, I wish the litter box was larger because it is quite cramped for my cat. My cat also doesn’t use the anti tracking surface as he just jumps right over the side so the litter crystals end up on the floor anyways but I did not deduct points for crystals being on the floor because I’m already pretty used to that after owning cats my whole life! I would, however prefer that instead of the anti tracking surface (since it doesn’t seem to be used at all) the box was bigger so my cat would have more room to do his business comfortably.

Overall, If this litter box was larger, it would be pretty standard as a litter box and I would recommend it to people looking for a litter box for their cat.

PetSafe Deluxe Crystal Litter Box System It took a few days to convince my cats to use a new litter box, but once they did, they really liked the PetSafe deluxe crystal cat litter box system. The cat litter is made of crystals and it’s so unique in appearance.

I found that interesting, and I was really happy when I realized that it scoops away easily, too. I also thought it was helpful that the litter box came with everything I needed to set it up and use it, including the pad for the slide-out tray underneath the ventilation grid, a bag of crystal cat litter, and a scoop with a little adhesive-backed hook for mounting.

Since I have more than one cat, I expect to change the littler more often than the recommended once a month for single-cat homes. My favorite feature so far is that I haven’t noticed any odor whatsoever after my cats use the crystal litter box system.

The pad that slides into a thin tray under the grate that holds the litter is another feature I thought was kind of cool and different. It catches the few droplets of liquid waste that filter through before the crystal cat litter can absorb it, so the pad can be tossed and replaced.

While I haven’t had to change mine yet, I think it’s nice that there’s an extra way to ensure there aren’t any odors from the litter box, and it seems to work because I haven’t noticed any smell from it.

The directions said to get rid of solid waste every day if using the box for a single cat, but with more than one cat, I do check the litter box a couple of times a day to make sure it stays fresh smelling.

Having the little scoop mounted right there on the side of the box makes it super easy to keep up with cleaning it. One last thing I really appreciate about the PetSafe deluxe crystal cat litter box is the grid on the front edge that catches the bits of cat litter my cats pick up in their toes, so they don’t track litter all over the floor.

Bought in July and have had to purchase 5 litter boxes due to inefficent box design. Had to buy 5 replacement boxes since bought in July to November. Clumps up in end where fecal matter is to be stored so rake does ot distribute crystal evenly.

Crystals cling to cat’s feet and distribute throughout house. Had to separate food and water dishes from product to avoid crystals getting into them. Rather an expensive trial for 4 months use. Would not buy again.

The things I used to do to keep the pee from going all over the wall and floor when my cats would pee out over the top of the boxes was so time consuming. This litter pan solved that issue. And I like this litter box very much.

Yet it isn’t perfect. It definitely needs to be longer. My cats don’t fit in it without either their head or their backside sticking out the opening. They don’t seem to mind. But unfortunately when it’s their backside, the pee and/or poop ends up on the floor.

And last week my robot vacuum was ruined because of this. One of the cats used the pan and the poop fell on the floor. Obviously I didn’t realize it. The vacuum ran right through it, not only smearing it around the entire room before I realized what happened, but also ruining the vacuum.

I’m not sure if only making the box longer would solve this for sure, but if the front opening was just a little higher I believe that would. If it wasn’t for these 2 issues, I’d replace all my boxes with this one.

The height on this is very good, the previous litter box I purchased had a max height of 11″ and wasn’t high enough for my cat (I’m still trying to get the odor out from a concrete floor in the bathroom nook where her box is located).

While the height is great, the leg room (listed at 17. 3″ but in reality is 15″) is too small for my 12 lb cat. Previously I used to make her litter boxes from storage containers — a real chore, however, very functional.

She liked the extra space, walking around and circling for the perfect spot to do her business. So far she’s using this new box but I do wish there was more leg room. I also covered the opening (handle) in the back with waterproof tape (suggested by another reviewer) and thank goodness I did because that is where some of the pee ended up when she used that side of the box.

The other handle at the front is a bit of pain when I need to daily scoop, it gets in the way. It would be better if that handle wasn’t there and instead have a beveled edge all around the litter box to facilitate lifting.

I previously used to make her box from storage containers (a laborious job), however, there was ample height and space for kitty to move and circle around the box to find the perfect spot to do her business.

Why can’t a cat litter box manufacturer just use the high sided storage containers as a model for a litter box, with the front part cut appropriately for entry (instead of DIY boxes that have to be either sawed or melted down)? No doubt this would be a real money maker because I’ve read there are enough people who would need that kind of box for their high sided urinator kitties.

Maybe I should go into business and do that myself and make a bunch of money. 😀 Yes, I recommend this because it’s the highest side available but paltry leg room.

I have 3 cats, each with a different litter box-related problem. The high-pee-er (cat #1) stands up when he pees, rendering most litter boxes useless, even ones that claim to be high-sided. Most hooded litter boxes are also useless for him, because the seam between the bottom and top of the box is too low, causing urine to leak through onto the floor.

So I attempted using top-entry litter boxes, however, my big cat (cat #2) needs a large space to do his business, and cannot use a top-entry litter box because of arthritis. The small cat (cat #3) is very finicky and flat out refuses to use a top-entry litter box.

The Frisco Leaf High-Sided Large litter box meets everyone’s needs/preferences. It’s high enough to contain the high-pee-er, large enough for the big cat, and is front-entry for the small finicky cat.

It has a flat bottom and rounded corners so it is easy to scoop. It’s relatively lightweight and somewhat flexible, so it’s easy to take outside to hose down. It is sturdy enough to stand up to cat claws.

It’s affordable. It doesn’t solve the litter scatter problem that plagues every cat owner, but I manage that using a rubber litter mat and low-tracking litter. The only improvement I would make to this box is to sell/include an optional lid to set on top to help hide the ugly litter and help contain dust.

Overall, I’m very happy with this litter box and would definitely recommend them. If Frisco ever sells a lid, I will buy it.

Very pleased with this litter box, as it has helped keep litter scatter to a minimum. The sides and back are high with a lowered front, which is still a bit taller than the average litter box. Plastic is thin, but durable, and very smooth.

The smooth makes scooping from the bottom quite easy. I searched for a bit for both height of the box itself and low price and this litter box was perfect for my needs. I am very pleased. They fit inside the cat condos I am using and allow head room for the cats to be comfortable inside to use.

I got this litter box at a Walmart store because I needed it that day. I had to review it because it really is a great deal. It’s awesome in that it’s one piece, it’s easy to clean, it’s not too big or too small.

21. 5L x 17. 5 W rim to rim measurements, height is 9. 25″ high in the back and 7. 5″ high in the front. The sides are high so litter does not fly, the bottom is smooth all the way around, no ridges! I was disappointed in the Iris high sided litter box that has a plastic ridge that messes up scooping clumping litter out of the box! I highly recommend this litter box for an inexpensive high sided, no ridge floor, litter box.

Priced super affordable on Walmart. com if you have enough items to avoid shipping costs. I read about cats tipping it over and now I do worry it could happen in the future. I do think its unlikely, depends on the cat.

Still recommend as it will suit most cat owners needs with no issues.

very nice litter box. One per cat. I keep the litter box clean 2 -3 daily. I have two kitties, but , One kicks the litter out in the front and back. they do sell the covers that match this product. I am going to purchase.

Saves me clean up time. The other kitty, doesn’t do this, go figure. I have put covers on the boxes and the kitties don’t mind at all. I freshen up the litter box , every couple of months, empty, wash and put new scoop able litter.

Have to say, this litter box doesn’t stain from the kitties using it. Easy pizzy. like this product very much. Recommend.

Look no further this is the best cat litter box! I work at an animal shelter and these are the only litter boxes we use for our cats. These can also be used for kittens as well. I personally use these for my kittens and older cats.

It is super roomy and has enough space for them to turn around. I regret not getting these sooner! Affordable, easy to clean and works for a single cat or multiple cat households. Highly recommend to everyone.

Van Ness is a lifesaver!.

I just re-ordered the same Van Ness I always order. Which is Jumbo high side. I was sent a large not jumbo. When I look to reorder it shows large with more size options. There is no options just large.

Extremely smaller than the Jumbo. I have 2 cats this will not work. Very disappointed when I use the reorder item selection and sent different item. If item is no longer available then mark it that way and let me decide a different option.

What a waste.

The most important thing is that the cats love it. It’s slightly larger in all dimensions than our previous covered box, and more importantly we can leave the lid flipped halfway open so they can see out better, which they seem to love.

And when people come over, we just close the lid for a better aesthetic. I was a little hesitant about the liner because our cats have always scratched at the walls inside the box. But I read on the Modkat site that you don’t *have to* use the liner, and sure enough, it works just fine without it! I feel good about having bought the one that’s made out of recycled ocean waste and I was glad to have that choice.

Also I have to say that as an object in my home, this is the only litter box I’ve ever thought just looks good. They always look so utilitarian, which is fine, but it’s nice that this has some design attention paid to it, and NOT at the expense of function.

Finally, I have to really praise one extremely unexpected and thoughtful detail — the box in which all the accessories were packaged is covered in perforated circles which you punch out, and then toss in a ping-pong ball (included) to make a cat toy! My cats are constantly playing with that and I appreciate that little detail so much.

One thing I thought might be better considered is that despite the fact that the box itself is made out of recycled ocean plastic, there are various parts which are packaged in. more plastic, which was weird to see.

But regardless I think we’re still landing on the side of making a difference, so thank you! Overall a great experience and worth the extra money.

My cat loves to scoot to the back of her litter box and then slowly raise her butt as she pees. As you can imagine this has resulted in overspray. I’ve tried a handful of boxes that just didn’t work.

The Nature’s Miracle high side litter box was one of the best, but even then she still occasionally managed to pee over the edge. Additionally, I recently moved and the litter box has to be out in the open so I needed something that was covered and not obnoxious.

Is spent $130 on one those furniture litter box covers and it turned into the WORST mess because she peed over the side of the litter box and cat pee collected into all the cracks and crevices. I didn’t realize it until I started to smell it.

I tried cleaning the cover but it was already too far gone. Money down the drain. MY sister recommended this product to solve all my problems. For the price I was hesitant. I had already thrown so much money away I didn’t want to risk it, but I am glad I took the chance.

The box was very easy to put together, it has a simple design that works in an open space without being an eyesore. My cat is able to get in and out no problem. The lining was quick to install, stays in place, and protects against the overspray.

The magnet lid provides quick, simple access for scooping. I keep my litter genie next to it making clean-ups smooth and painless. I only gave it 4 stars because, as some people have mentioned, the squared corners can be difficult to get litter out of and my cat is always peeing at the edges.

The lining is also rough so pee sticks to it – however, it doesn’t smell which is a huge bonus. I am also not thrilled about the cost of replacement liners. Overall, it is a great litter box with a few minor design issues.

I love the new Modkat litter boxes. They are sleek, stylish, and so easy to clean. Definitely the easiest litter box to manage I’ve come across in 21 years of having cats. The only issue I have with them is that I have a cat that likes to stand on his tip-toes while peeing, and another who’s a bit arthritic and has issues squatting in the front.

Both cats manage to pee OVER the liner, and the pee drips in between and pools between the liner and litter box. I considered buying the litter box for high pee-ers but my cats prefer a covered litter box, and the overall height of the litter tray with splash guard is actually shorter than the traditional covered box, which means my cat would just pee over the splash guard with the open box.

This also wouldn’t address the issue of my Senior cat not fully squatting in the front and peeing over the front portion of the liner. I wish the liners just went all the way up to the top of the litter box, meeting flush with the tops rather than hanging down; or even if I could buy a slightly larger liner and tuck it over the sides a bit.

That one inch or so of exposure is enough to let so much pee down behind it, which creates such a mess. I tried lining the gap with Puppy Pads, which works well enough. They just get so gross-looking, though.

I might just try using the box with no liner at all.

I have a cat who likes to hang over the edge of normal sized litter trays and also kick piles of litter on to the floor. A double whammy! This tray has greatly reduced the amount of litter kicked out and accidents over the edge have reduced, but not entirely.

For a litter kicker this is recommended. For an over the edge cat, yes it helps but you might still have the odd accident. I am down from approx. 1-2 a week to 1 every 2 weeks. Overall it’s worth it, and is a good strong tray that’s very easy to clean with it’s smooth interior, but it is a bit expensive for a plastic tray.

I bought this as a gamble because my elderly cat was having accuracy issues when using her standard litter tray. This solved the problem! No more going over the sides when going to the loo. I was concerned that she might not get in and out ok but she mastered it with no problems.

It’s also very easy to clean with rounded corners. The only downside is that you can’t choose the colour. However that’s not important really compared to cat whoopsie on the floor!!! Would definitely recommend.

Not as big as I had expected, but big enough for a fairly large Himalayan. It’s been especially good for travel: the high sides allow our cat a certain amount of privacy and keep the litter contained–features both she and I appreciate, especially when our vehicle is in motion.

The blue color (over which there was no choice) is a bit bright, but our cat doesn’t seem to mind, and since it’s not kept in the house, is of no concern. A good alternative to other cat litter boxes.

Why do they make “high sided” litter boxes, yet make one side so low? What is the point? My cat think the low side is just perfect to push litter out of. It is also the perfect low height for him to pee over the side! Just ridiculous.

I was so fed up looking for the perfect littler box! I ended up returning these and getting Rubbermaid 10 gal totes! They’re absolutely perfect sized. Can find them at True Value for under $15.

I started with a large, but it was too small. Jumbo is the size to use. I really liked these, and I replace them every year. Unfortunately, the last 2 I bought had a “dome” in the middle making the bottom of the box uneven.

Every now and then, the dome would pop and spray litter everywhere. I would not recommend buying these without seeing them first. It seems like the quality has decreased over the years.

This litter pan would have been perfect for my cat if he didn’t change the direction of where he pees. the back is high enough but the front is too low. He has decided to aim at the front entry. All over the mat.

I will need to turn it around and put a back up litter box standing to catch the run off. Oh! what we put up with for our furry friends!!! Gotta love them.

What a fantastic purchase for my 4 indoor cats & me – 2 jumbo size scoop free litter boxes which suit the Maine Coon X and the Ragdoll as well as the 2 older petite sisters. The scoop free boxes are made from a smooth, slippery plasticy material which means no more poop sticking to the sides and around the edges like the previous large storage boxes I had.

The Ragdoll has frequent diarrhoea & vomiting from a gastric condition & used to make a horrid mess everywhere, now it’s so easy to clean up. And the new boxes look soooo much nicer. I also switched the litter to the Michu original tofu cat litter which has virtually no smell new or used to offend my nose or their more sensitive ones.

No more stinky litter boxes – truly! We even have one in our bedroom with no odour at all, it’s incredible. I have used so many different litters & was preparing to return to the pine pellets but the tofu is brilliant & well worth the slightly higher cost especially as they don’t go through it very quickly, it clumps well & there’s no waste.

The Ragdoll does still kick a little bit out but nothing like he used to. It was very easy to get them to use the new boxes & the new litter. I put a new one next to an old one & let them choose which one they wanted.

It took probably 2 days before they were all using the new ones (the Ragdoll naturally used all 4 boxes – just as well I love him heaps!) I took the old boxes away after a week & no mishaps at all. The sisters often toileted outside in the cat run but are mainly using the boxes now especially with this cold, wet winter, I can’t blame them.

The other great item I bought was the Moderna lift to sift scoop. It’s a much better shape & design so I’ve tossed the previous flat ones away. I haven’t used the boxes in the shake mode (which is why I bought this design) but now have 2 extra trays if I need to put out more boxes.

I use the scoop frequently during the day (4 cats, 2 boxes & 1 messy boy) it’s quick & easy to keep the boxes clean & everyone is happy. And last but by no means least was the great service & quick delivery from Marco & Sarah at Modern Pets – thanks for everything from some very happy customers, Jane =), Munchkin, Tinkabel, Sabrina & Kobi =^.

This litter box has made things much easier! It meets my expectations and is as advertised. The cats are very happy and very little litter escapes the box during use. Now that I’m using it I do wish that the litter boxes and sieve had small handles to make it easier to lift out each box.

I don’t think this would be necessary with the smaller size but the larger size is heavy with the litter that I use so it can be a little tricky to separate and lift the boxes. It would also be super cool if only 3/4 of the sieve was gridded and 1/4 solid plastic.

That would mean that in transferring the used litter to the bin you could tilt the sieve to the solid area and no crumbs would fall to the floor. Without that change you can still just pop the other tray underneath for easy transfer this so it shouldn’t be a reason not to buy! These are very small tweaks, but I’d probably buy a second if such a model came out.

In March we ‘inherited’ a beautiful Calico female that would come to eat and visit. She suddenly and unexpectedly gifted us with 3 gorgeous kittens, all different colors. With four cats comes a boatload of poop so I began shopping for a sifting litter box and stumbled upon this one.

It’s sturdy and easy to clean with very little detritus getting through. I also really like the removable ‘splash guard’ which really helps keep the litter in the box and off the floor. State Line’s service was top notch as well.

I was able to talk to a REAL person and place my order on the phone after my questions were quickly and courteously answered. Shipping was much faster than predicted, even during the pandemic. I’ll be back when I need another.

For background, I am cat owner for over 40 years and I have been a part time professional pet sitter, cat foster parent and shelter volunteer (5 years of shelter volunteer) for the past 30 of those. I have encountered a multitude of different cat litter boxes from automatic to manual, super fancy expensive ones to soda cartons and deep paper bowls.

It is large enough. The hood opening and height of the inside are large enough for my largest 15+ pound cat. It holds ample litter. There is a problem that irks me. The oval shape means that most of the time I have to chase the clumps around to shove them against the back.

Oval is pretty and fits in more places than a square but it also is mildly harder to scoop. The lid lifting up is great for being able to clean easily without fighting the entire lid because I despise removing and replacing lids that flex and require patience to fit properly.

I don’t care about the carbon filter in the lid or being able to purchase replacements. I don’t believe that these are worthwhile and they only give an illusion of really doing anything. A real air purifier and plain unscented litter or unscented crystals will take care of any odors that arise.

It’s a litter box. Keep it clean, including scrubbing it out once a week and it will stay as odor free as possible. If you must have a carbon filter, purchase the black carbon filter material from an air purifier replacement and cut to fit.

You will have the size and thickness you are seeking. Yes they should make and sell replacements, but if they don’t, get creative on your own instead of grumbling. A few minutes of time will get you a better filter than you can purchase.

If it is leaking on the edges, line it, and pull the liner up and over the edges. Better yet, do what I do and purchase a wire crate tray to put under the litter box. Any accidents will land on the tray where you can clean them up more easily while protecting your carpet.

Your cat being a wall washer when they urinate vs a squatter is not the litter box designers issues, it is yours. Buy a different box without a lid gap, line it with pee pads or check the internet for another creative answer instead of casting blame.

We got this covered pan a few years ago. This pan USES JUMBO SIZE LITTER PAN LINERS & can use any type of litter (we use Crystal Litter). USES MORE LITTER than most pans BECAUSE PAN is LARGER size. This pan is PERFECT FOR LARGE CATS, we were using it for a MAIN COON SIZED CAT (22 pounds) that we fostered; high back great for those cats that urinate high up in the pan & helps with decreasing litter outside the pan.

This is NOT A GOOD CHOICE FOR SENIOR CATS WITH ARTHRITIS or other PHYSICAL IMPAIRMENTS because it has a HIGH FRONT ENTRANCE. Our 14 year old old cat (10 pounds) with arthritis could not get in & out of this pan; she had a low entry pan which always had some litter tossed out because she was a very enthusiastic digger.

Yes, our babies are spoiled & we will do anything for them.

The litter box is roomy and has a nice wide door entrance. My cats range in weight from 6 lbs to 15 lbs. and there is plenty of room for the large cats to turn around and use the box. I found the construction to be good and didn’t feel it was cheaply made or flimsy like some reviewers said.

The easy-clean access door is really nice as you don’t have to take the top off to scoop. The sticker came off easily and I really don’t care if Natures Miracle wants to put their red logo on it or not.

Actually, if I wanted to order another one (which I will probably do in the future), it will help me remember what company made it. My only complaint would be that I thought it was a bit overpriced, but the 20% discount that was offered made a fair adjustment on the price.

I have NEVER had a problem with Chewy not making good on any product I have purchased that was defective or didn’t meet my expectations.

I board cats and have been looking for some smaller corner boxes that would take up less space in a cat condo, yet still be comfortable for a larger cat. These fit the bill. The larger backsides keep the kick-zone litter from going everywhere, and they are easy to clean and stack for storage.

Took away one star because the front entrance is a little high for older cats, but I just lowered the step-over opening a little bit with my Dremel. Will purchase more.

This litter box is a good size litter box that fits perfectly in the corner. I had a corner that was dead space and this litter box fit perfect in this corner and that give my babies more room to play because they wasn’t dodging the litter box now.

I like the higher sides this litter box has. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the color. I wish they had it in white, black or gray but other than that it’s the perfect litter box. I definitely recommend this litter box.

My cats love these boxes. I have regular 2 large boxes and 2 high sided. How do I know they love them, they prefer them over their regular boxes. I think its a primal thing, its in a corner some secluded place.

The sides are high , they feel protected from predators. I’m not kidding. They prefer to use this box even if it is time for a cleaning. In fact, after a few days I see the regular boxes are completely clean and High side needs a cleaning.

One thing you might love is that with these high sides there is almost no scattering of litter. If I disposed of my regular boxes and only used high sided they would be in heaven. Also easy to clean.

My elderly cat, who weighs less than 9#, is good about using her littler box. But she likes to use the edges and corners. My vet, who makes house calls, noticed this, and recommended getting the largest litter box I could, and the largest in this set is the biggest I found anywhere In the several months I’ve had it, she hasn’t gotten outside the box yet, which is great.

So the edges are high enough. But she does hit the sides or corners of the box almost every day. The sides all have a molded “swoop” sort of pattern which I guess is supposed to be stylish. The clumps get caught in the ledges this pattern makes.

I really dislike that, as it makes it very difficult to completely clean the sides. If your cat doesn’t do this to you, then cleaning should be easy. I randomly got a blue one, which was fine with me.

But I do agree the choice should be the consumer’s.

This is a big tray, bought for a big but arthritic cat. It has rather high sides, which dont look easy to make lower. Unfortunately the cat is resistant to new things, and hasnt used it yet, so I cant take away the old one it was to replace.

Its good enough quality for its purpose, and very reasonably priced, would accommodate the largest cat breed. Maybe my aged moggy will try it out one day.

It is definitely a very large pan. my cat’s other litter box could fit inside it! With its high sides, this pan stops my (big) cat from “going overboard” and on the floor. It also keeps litter inside much better! And the glossy plastic makes cleaning the pan much easier.

Saves work. and floors :). Wish I had bought this 10 years ago!!.

This was a ok product. Very flimsy though. I have 2 cats and one larger cat didn’t have enough room to go and then be able to turn around and scratch. This could be used for kittens or as a 2nd litter box that doesn’t get much action.

I think you should avoid this product if you have more then one cat.

i had never had a cat before. i wasn’t sure where to start when buying things for him. i knew i liked the ArmHammer brand so that’s where i started. i knew i wanted their litter because i did not want any smell.

and then i learned they had a litter box too! it’s covered so my little fur all can have some privacy! Lol.

Wasn’t a big fan as we bought this because our cats would track litter out or just poop over the sides and that’s exactly what happened with this one. This is best for kittens and smaller cats as even the average sized cat has a difficult time aiming and maneuvering correctly.

Lasted about 3 weeks before it went to recycle bucket.

I have two boy kitties and they have occassional urinary issues. This box has the highest back of any box to date barring making your own with storage totes. And they were smart about the design where it comes together, so that even if they do manage to pee that high up, there aren’t holes it will drip out of.

It’s also nice and flat on the interior so easier to clean and sanitize! We don’t use the flap because they aren’t used to that and don’t like it–wouldn’t go in at first because of it, but I’m guessing if they weren’t quite set in their ways at this point it would have been no problem and further reduced the litter tracking and smells (one does not bury #2).

They do prefer lidded ones though because as kittens one would occassionally try to play with the other while they were trying to use the potty and this one is quite roomy, letting them designate their areas with plenty of room.

When we have to replace one of the other ones I would definitely order this again! Wish they carried them in the store though!.

If you have a cat who stands up while they pee, do not get this box. It cost my afternoon to have to clean up after the pee that leaked outside the litter box, and to find a new litter box. The box is seriously perfect otherwise.

I suggest Catit Jumbo Litter Box, just make sure clasps are working properly, and you should be good to go — though, be very careful when deep cleaning and taking the top off, pee will come out from the place that the top and the bottom meets.

(And make sure to then put the top and bottom back together properly). Anyways, very unfortunate. This litter box was perfect otherwise. Very roomy, very sturdy. If you don’t have a cat who stands up while pees, it may be worth a try, but there’s no guarantee they won’t just start doing that one day like my cat.

Unfortunately this litterbox was a miss for me. It has some pros but the cons were enough that I have to purchase another different litterbox that will work better for my needs. Pros: I like the size of this box.

I also like the wide opening. Cons: The snaps on the sides are hard to open, which is very annoying. If you have nails, be careful because you will break them trying to get this thing open. Also the front is lower, which seems great but my cat pees in the front area of the box and since this one has the lower front, there has been some over-spray on the rim which is yuck.

So unfortunately this box did not work for me and I wasted my money – obviously can’t return a used litterbox, – and I’ve only had it for a week or so. Anyways I’m getting a different box similar to the previous one that I had before.
