20 Best Hidden Camera Smoke Detector (2023 Updated)

We’ve had an Arlo system for years that continues to grow. This will be our first Arlo indoor camera. Positive points for the Arlo system are that the video quality is excellent, hardware has been very durable and reliable, easy setup and installation, and the app is very user friendly.

Things to consider if you’re looking to purchase are that Arlo now requires a subscription service if you want your video stored to the Cloud for 30 days and outdoor cameras typically require routine battery charging; for us we probably have to charge the batteries for outside cameras every one to two months depending on settings.

We had an interest in the indoor camera for primarily when we are gone from our house. It’s not something I would want routinely recording. The automated privacy shield is nice that it has the camera put the physical shield over the camera and mic.

Note that this indoor camera connects via cable directly to your wifi and thus will be limited in terms of physical placement depending on cable length. The app allows users to customize settings for notifications, camera sensitivity and device settings.

Arlo’s AI identification works well to differentiate people, vehicles, packages and animals. The 2-way audio feature is good to have, but we have used this feature very rarely. Arlo is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Samsung SmartThings.

If you’re looking for an easy-to-use security camera system with excellent 1080p video quality I think you’ll like Arlo a lot. Just keep in mind that outdoor cameras will require charging (easy task to accomplish) and there is a monthly security cost to consider if you want longer Cloud storage.

Night vision is decent, though not as good as daytime video clarity, it is still very acceptable in my opinion. I still like Arlo a lot for its nice design, great video quality, durability and ease of use; I just with the subscription plans were a bit less.

This Arlo Essential Indoor Camera is all about image quality and software. I have the camera facing the front door to the house covering the door and 4 windows where someone may be able to gain access.

The image has always been clear and every person or animal that comes in view of the camera is immediately recognizable. The best parts about the Arlo are the features. There are so many security features built into the software and with a recurring month to month payment you can have access to all of them including emergency response from fire or police department.

You can even trigger a really loud siren that emits from the camera when you get an alert of someone passing by the camera(this one is free). Motion alerts are very sensitive but you can adjust alerts to only people if your dog or other pets pass by too often such as mine does.

The physical camera also has a privacy shield that when activated covers the lens and mutes audio. Also note that audio can trigger an alert to your phone if you want it. The great thing about the Arlo app and software is the ability to highlight exactly which motion is detected by placing a green box around the person or animal that it detected passing by so you know exactly where to look.

The downside to Arlo is having to upgrade to a paid version if you want to use all the features including a timeline of the days events caught on the camera. At this time, you only get to view the alert one time and the rest is saved to the cloud which is restricted by a pay wall.

The subscription is cheap however and definitely worth it to protect your home. If you ever need to, two way audio is available as a free feature for this camera but note that there is about a 1-2 second delay and the “live” video is not actually live.

Overall, the Arlo covers basically every feature that one would need in an indoor security camera. I would highly recommend.

I am thrilled with the result. Simple to setup. I now have 5 smoke alarms and one combination CO2/smoke alarm made by Kidde that are all with wireless connections to each other. If the CO2 alarm occurs, it will say CO2 problem from all 6 alarms.

I was able to just remove the old smoke detectors and put these new Kidde detectors in the same places in minutes. Adding this last one was just as simple as installing the first 5. I tested them and they say Fire alternated with a loud alarm.

The cost is good since it is so easy to install them. I like the idea that the battery lasts 10 years which is the same amount of time that the alarms should be replaced. My old alarms were 22 years old and therefore no longer effective.

I have now turned of the smoke detector circuit breaker since these all run on only battery. No false alarms have occurred in since I installed the alarms 3 weeks ago.

Easy to understand and easy to install. These detectors make sense since they will all activate when one goes into alarm. So the basement detector will be heard in the bedroom, or wherever you place the alarms.

I installed six in less than 90 minutes. I highly recommend these. Ten year battery means no periodic changes. I heavily researched these interconnect alarms prior to my purchase, these are the ones you want in your home.

Having a ten-year battery gives peace of mind, and having the ability to communicate with other devices via it’s built-in Wi-Fi is especially attractive. Plus, I was able to replace an alarm in my kitchen that always gave nuisance warnings every time I opened the oven door.

Overall the product design is nice and the image quality is acceptable, however the associated app results in this camera being basically unusable except for certain cases. Specifically there is a problem with defining areas within the cameras view to trigger motion alerts.

Only the center of the cameras view could be used to define motion alerts. We purchased the camera to cover a driveway leading up to our garage and a walkway leading to the front door. Both areas of interest were well within the cameras view, but not directly centered.

Thus the camera wouldn’t pick up movement on either the driveway or the path. We contacted Ring support and were first given a nonsensical answer saying that if we just provided more power to the unit then it would work.

The camera is supposed to be battery powered and wirelessly connected to our wifi network so needing to run a power cable to the camera defeated the purpose. We contacted Ring a second time and finally learn that they were aware of the issue but currently did not have plans to fix the software issue.

We returned the Ring camera and bought a Blink camera system and had NONE of the problems we had with Ring. So if your area of interest is in the center of the camera’s view this product will likely work fine for you.

However, if you too have a little bit of an odd angled space you are trying to view this will not work well.

This Ring Stick up Indoor/Outdoor WireFree 1080p Security Camera has a great wide angel view of my front yard. I had it mounted above my garage. The color by day and infrared by night are excellent. There is a two way audio that can be used to communicate with person during a live event.

The app was easy to install and there are motion detection settings for range of motion. The battery life is good. Still 25% after 3 months of usage. Life of battery charge depends on level of activity, which is very active in my front yard.

It’s necessary to purchase the subscription for creating and keeping your video library if recordings. The camera is basically useless without the subscription. One con to the camera is that the recordings have a lag time that misses the recording of an event at the very beginning.

It can sometimes lag from 5 to 10 seconds, This could be caused because of the Wi-Fi location being too far away. All in all we are satisfied with the camera.

I honestly hate these things. They were PERFECT for about 2 weeks…. now they are nothing but an annoyance that had costed more money than expected and generally overall poor security because of the lack of video quality.

For the first week they had great sensing, video quality, battery life, etc- literally no issues. Out of no where the camera batteries started going from 100% to 10% in less than 4 hours, they miss so many events on the most sensitive setting and didn’t sense a single thing in front of the camera on the lesser settings (me standing in front if them waving my arms), CONSTANT connectivity issues.

LITERALLY CONSTANT. And now any motion freezes the video and misses 3/4 of what happened. HUGELY disappointed in these if you couldn’t tell. I would love to say it was a faulty one but it’s all 3 I purchased.

Bought the spare batteries, bought the wifi extender, bought the solar panel- alleviated 0 of the problems.

Best wifi camera ever. I have been using last 5 year and no issue at all. I highly recommended this camera. You could also use as baby can or pet cam.

I bought 3 cameras, picture is clear, camera operates well, bad thing is you need to subscribe monthly in order to view events longer than 10 seconds. If somethings happen when wifi is down, you will never know.

Don’t waist your money.

Not a bad product, no good as a baby monitor as it doesnt live stream sound you have to manually turn it on every time you get into the app. But as a security camera its good value for money

These are handy, incredibly convenient security cameras that are easy to install and configure. Only two very minor annoyances are waiting for the initial software update (might take a day or more the but camera works just fine while it’s waiting), and of course looking for a hiding place for the power cord.

Other than that, setup time is literally five minutes if you have the Ring app installed. If not, give yourself another 30 minutes to download the Ring app, create your account, and watch a view tips and tricks videos because they are so worth the time.

We bought the Stick Up Cam Wired as an interior enhance to our existing Ring exterior perimeter cameras. From inside it’s aimed at our front door with the motion sensor targeting the entire front room.

Although it’s off most of the time, when enabled (using Ring Modes), we are alerted if anyone opens the front door or even if someone broke in by breaking through a front window. Pet friendly: we used the motion framing tool to aim above pet height, mostly mitigating false alarms.

Occasionally a tail will stray into view and then we get interesting evidence that it’s working perfectly. It’s really cool and so adjustable. Have fun tweaking this and your other Ring cameras! Is it perfect? No, nothing is but this camera is really close.

We’re giving it 5 stars because it’s solidly built, easy to use, and has the other features like microphone, speaker, color night vision, and best of all a power cord so no batteries! Moreover, Ring sells a plethora of accessories so you can mount these wherever your imagination takes you.

What’s not to love? We’re actually buying a few more for other interior and exterior applications; the Ring cameras are honestly that good!.

So I am writing this review because I am truly disgusted by these Ring cameras. I feel that the public needs to be warned about these devices before they make the same mistake I made. I Installed 2 of these cameras about 1 month ago at a clients house.

The customer only wanted Ring cameras no matter how hard we tried to convince her to use a different product. This same house also has the ring doorbell so she wanted to see the cameras on the same app.

So we installed them. Since we installed these cameras we are constantly having issues. No playback, no livestream but playback works, etc. So I knew these cameras were junk and she would have issues but the amount of issues is crazy.

So besides the cameras being junk. somehow they are affecting the rest of the wireless devices in the house and messing with the networking. I don’t know how to explain it but since these cameras were connected to the network the house loses internet 2 times a week.

This has been my client for years and we never had any issues with networking in this house until these stick up cameras were installed. I tried everything including replacing router, replacing access points, use a different brand of access points, create a new SSID, Literally everything.

Finally unplugged them and internet has worked great ever since. I am past the return period on these cameras so they are basically going to go in the garbage. I am leaving this review as a warning to others who may be considering this purchase.

Please be cautious before purchasing these cameras. Take a look at Hikvision Cameras / NVRs or any other brand that makes quality POE cameras and NVRs. Some of those may require a professional installer to terminate the CAT5/6 cable but its worth it to avoid the issues you may have with the ring stick up cameras.

For any installation over 4-5 cameras it will actually save you money over these junk “wifi cameras”. The NVR is an extra expense but the cost per camera will be less. AND you will OWN your cameras and you will OWN your video storage.

You don’t own Ring cameras, AMAZON OWNS these cameras. You are just paying an upfront cost to rent this device. You will need to pay fees if you actually want to see your videos. If you want full length video clips you better get your credit card ready.

One last thing. Doesn’t amazon control enough of our lives? Lets stop giving them access to our security cameras. They already have enough data on all of us. They don’t need to become the largest camera/surveillance vendor as well.

BUY an actual camera setup with real POE cameras and an actual NVR with a Hard Drive inside it. Store your video in your house and keep it off the cloud.

Faulty plug design. If I plug into the outlet on the side of the house a thief can just go to the side out of sight of the camera and unplug. I don’t care that ring would replace the camera if stolen, it’s the video and alert I am wanting.

Also keep in mind when mounting where a ladder is required, when your camera goes off line, often you will need to climb on a ladder to push the reset button on the top of the camera and keep your phone close until camera reconnects.

To plug into an outlet inside the garage, the housing for the cord has to opened, the prongs unconnected, cord fed through hole then reconnected or cut the plug off and then rewire back on. Both options mentioned will void your warranty.

Huge design flaw. Battery operated is not an option as I’d have to climb on a ladder every time it needs recharging which if like my ring doorbell, that’s about once a month for mine. Not a fan of solar powered as I had solar powered spotlight that after a while, fail to recharge.

We are using these as replacements for the smoke detectors in our 5th wheel rv. We were pleased to be able to get the exact same model, even though our rv is a 2016! And. for such a reasonable price!.

I bought this to replace one that the mounting holder cracked on. It lasted less than 2 years before it started beeping all the time. I tried two brand new batteries and it would not stop beeping. Even had the batteries tested by an electrician to make sure I had not bought bad batteries.

First, I love the interconnecting feature of this alarm system. When properly installed and programmed, when one alarm detects carbon monoxide or smoke, EVERY interconnected alarm sounds off LOUD AND CLEAR! This model can be programmed to identify with one of 11 different pre-programmed names, such as kitchen, living room, bedroom, etc.

When an alarm is sounded in your bedroom at 2am, the interconnected alarms all might say “CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE LIVING ROOM”, (or wherever the detector is located at). Oddly, there are two places where I worry about carbon monoxide coming from inside my house.

One is in my attached garage, where somebody might park the car, close the garage door, and neglect to turn off the engine. The second possible source of carbon monoxide is in the laundry room where I have a natural gas clothes dryer.

Sadly the words “Garage” and “Laundry Room” are not included in any of the 11 names you can program for your alarm. Maybe future First Alert Smoke alarm models will add these standard names in their vocabulary.

In my case, if the the garage and/or laundry rooms sense smoke or carbon monoxide, they will still trigger the alarms on ALL of the detector units, but the only thing that will be missing is the LOCATION of which detector tripped the alarm.

Another feature that I found annoying, was that the alarm test button (and temporary hush button) is inconveniently located at the very TOP of the detector. If it was located at the BOTTOM edge of the detector it could be more easily reached without standing on tp of a chair, or it could be activated with a push of something like a broom handle.

Overall, these interconnected First Alert battery operated smoke and carbon monoxide alarms work GREAT. I am a heavy sleeper (and more than a little deaf), and I really appreciate being able to instantly know if ANY of the smoke alarms in my house sense a fire.

I have replaced ALL of the smoke alarms in my house with First Alert interconnected smoke alarms of different models, and I have experienced no false alarms in the past 30 days.

Ive been using this model ZCOMBO since 2013. Not its time to replace those old detectors because they are at their end of life. The detector circuitry is only good for so long, just the nature of the beast.

No issue there. But over the past 9 years I have had issues with reporting of battery level with SmartThings. I dont know if its the detector or the SmartThings Hubs fault but battery status is not reliable.

There is no warning when the battery level is low other than the audible from the detector itself. Thats all you need I guess but a notification in the app would be nice too, especially for those detectors that may not be located where you are.

I bought 6 new detectors and five of them linked up with SmartThings easy enough much easier than my original ones from 9 years ago did. The sixth would only partially connect and SmartThings warned me about that.

After 6 tries I got it to sync fully. Another one of the six units I purchased was faulty right out of the box. As soon as I put the batteries in a couple seconds later it started alarming. I didnt even get to link it to SmartThings so the problem wasnt caused by the SmartThings hub.

I removed the batteries and tried again but again in 30 seconds it began alarming and wouldnt quit even after pressing the silence button. So that one got returned and I will buy another to replace it.

The biggest thing missing from this version is that they do not relay an alarm. If one goes off the others DO NOT also sound off. I know First Alert has another version that looks very similar to the ZCOMBO and does relay an alarm from other units but that version does not work with SmartThings or Ring.

Another feature missing is they do not work with Alexa. The detectors use Z-Wave and Alexa does not directly since it is connected using Wi-Fi. But a HA hub like SmartThings can bridge that gap. If this were possible then Alexa could be used to make announcements when a detector alarms due to smoke or CO level.

I have now had 4 different types of smoke detectors manufactured by First Alert all fail prematurely. 3 of the types were hardwired dual CO/smoke with battery backup. Each time one failed, it started giving nuisance alarms every 6-12 hours.

The batteries are built into the housing and once removed the product is deactivated, requiring complete replacement. For how expensive they were ($60+ dollars each), them failing anywhere between 60 days and 2 years between purchase is pathetic.

Also, a 4th one just failed today that was completely battery operated (10 year battery, no hardwire). I was running a test on it. It was left in the middle of a ventilated, 400 square foot room mounted to a ceiling with absolutely no smoke or debris.

The unit was under 3 years old. It randomly started going off within 10 days of being put into service, and even AFTER deactivating it still would not stop beeping. They make horrible products, or at the very least need to fire whoever is in charge of quality control.

If my house was not already wired for First Alert detectors and hiring an electrician was not as exorbitantly expensive as it now is, I would switch over the a different brand in a heartbeat. If you have the option, do not buy this company’s products.

I was skeptical when I purchased this as I have purchased a few different types of lens finders and really never had any success. So I took the plunge because this one said it was able to locate infrared LEDS that hidden cameras use.

I was blown away when I did my sweep, not only did it work but it proved my biggest fear, that I was being watched by someone I thought I could trust.

I didn’t find anything, thankfully! The device is small and portable and is perfect for me. I often travel out of state and stay in hotels.

It really works, and its so simple to use. Good YouTube video made by SpyCentre as well which really helped me out!

Has worked as described consistently for several months. Very happy with it, would purchase again and recommend. Zetronix support is responsive and quick too. Would definitely buy from this company in the future.

I replaced my 10 year old smoke detector with this new battery powered slim detector with photoelectric sensor. It is light, modern, and has a low profile. It came with a 9 volt battery, so it was ready to go.

I like having the photoelectric sensor as an upgrade to my existing detector, it’s just another level of protection that eases my mind. There’s nothing more important that my family’s safety. I like how the photoelectric sensor is able to tell the difference between a real threat of smoke, and my cooking.

I don’t have to worry about having the oven on above 350 anymore. Overall, this is s great looking product that has great features.

Overall five star rating …. however the Nest do not work with existing old schools smoke detectors…. so technically and not super important at first…. but you’ll have to replace all of your smoke detectors with Nest in order to get the all floors/all rooms home alert in where the emergency is originating from….

…. Or …. at the very least have one Nest on each floor of your dwelling in conjunction with old one then replace old ones in bedrooms with new Nest ever year, this … way if your way upstairs your Nest will alert the one your closest to because you not and won’t likely be able to hear the basement one….

…… this was fine for me to do because ALL my smoke detectors were expired and way expired at that, So they absolutely needed to be replaced…. so you can either do one at a time as your smoke detectors go bad … And you probably didn’t know smoke detectors had an expiration date, did you?? but they do just like your milk or your Cola… so keep that in mind- Nest is a great product and has many awesome features and should last 10 years or until till you have to replace it because of the fore mentioned expiration date….

or in my case…. I’ll forget and problem be dead 20 years after the expire because that’s how long it was before I got around to replacing the old one with Nest product…. I have Nest cameras and Nest thermostats and it’s back by Google … so it should be supported for way long into the future…… thanks and enjoy.

The Nest Protect 2nd generation Smoke and CO2 is better than most smoke detectors. It is a good product and works as advertised with one exception which is why I didn’t give 5 stars. The Wifi is a bit buggy still with these detectors.

I have 9 of them installed in my home and frequently 1, 2 or 3 of them will go offline on their 30 min checkin with the router. They often come back online on their own and it can be any one of the 9 at any time.

Google Tech Support was not useful at all. I tried various solutions on my own such as assigning static IPs, or binding to a particularly close node or extender with no satisfaction. I eventually added a 3rd node to my ASUS router Mesh network and this seems to have solved the problem but had to discover this on my own.

It appears the detectors are sensitive to how many other devices are active at the time of checkin and if they don’t get an immediate response go offline until the next checkin. The good news though is the detector going offline does not affect its functioning at all for smoke or CO2 detection or it’s communication with other detectors, only communication with the NEST app and there is a solution by balancing out the traffic with an additional node or extender if you have a lot of these.

I recommend them but beware this annoying issue.

The Nest smoke detector was an easy replacement for my existing wired smoke detectors and look great as well. Before installing turn off the power at the breaker panel and use and make sure you have a meter or other device to verify no voltage before starting the installation.

I followed the directions step-by-step and the installation went exactly as it was supposed to. I already hade a Nest thermostat and doorbell cam so I was familiar with the app and the smoke detector show up right away in the process.

The testing gives you a voice warning as well as both the alarms for smoke and carbon monoxide snd were plenty loud enough. I really like that the app has a battery indicator so you know when the batteries need to be replaced, also love the built in motion detector that turns on a light when movement is detected.

This is in a small hallway outside two bedrooms and a guest bathroom and makes it nice if someone gets up in the middle of the night. With it being outside the bathroom there is also a test to make sue steam doesn’t set the smoke detector off.

I purchased it recently and do not have enough experience with it to rate it. I bought it because of its dual CO and smoke detection capabilities.

The self-contained 10 year battery is important when installing the smoke detector on a high ceiling where a ladder is required to service the unit.

Fairly easy to install. Hope it lasts 10 years (I wrote the starting date inside the cover). Hope it works if there is smoke.

Wholesale home stands behind their products. I had some concern on the first detector I ordered as it appeared the packaging had been comprised upon delivery. Wholesale home immediately shipped me a replacement after I had expressed my concern, no questions asked.

These detectors replaced the Kidde alarms that had been installed 10 years ago. While the alarm does come with the wiring harness, if you don’t purchase the ADK-12 harnesses, which allows you to plug the existing wiring into the ADK-12 and then into the new First Alert, you will need to remove the current harness and wire the new harness that comes with the alarm.

I chose to just remove the old harness and install the new one. If you don’t feel comfortable with doing house wiring, then you should consider purchasing the ADK-12 adapters whereby you will not need to mess with any house wiring.

I was so pleased with the service from Wholesale home, that I ordered (3) more 9120LBL alarms. While these alarms have the 10 year battery life as well, they are for smoke only. The base of both the SC9120LBL and 9120LBL are exactly the same diameter as the Kiddes that I removed; no need to do any paint touch up.

The First Alert Dual-sensor Smoke and Fire Alarm, Battery Powered was so easy to install. I didn’t have any problems with the installation process. It is very light weight and the test button worked super fast.

I needed to replace an old smoke detector and chose the First Alert dual smoke and fire detector after checking its features against the competition. This detector was easy to install – took me about ten minutes.

It runs on AA batteries instead of the 9 volt batteries so many smoke detectors use. It tested perfectly and I feel safe and secure now. Everyone should have working smoke detectors in their homes. I reccommend the First Alert dectors highly.

I needed yo replace an old smoke detector do I did my research and chose this First Alert dual model.

Our friend recently experienced a tragedy from a power tool battery charger catching on fire. So we decided to purchase additional smoke alarms with the ten year battery. This puts us at ease since we now have more detectors to cover the garage, laundry room, and sections of the house that have power strips with many cords plugged.

These detectors were placed at these spots to provide additional detection and alarm if a fire was to occur.

User nice Smoke alarms, and what I really like is that they’re Easy to install. Connecting the alarm via the Ring app was simple. If you have shared users, you can only connect the device using the primary user’s account. Connect the detector via the app before you install on the ceiling or wall.

For me, there was no need to drill holes to install since the base of old was same as base for this one. These are wireless detectors so no need to “wire” them. I tested the detectors and they sounded off as they should.

I replaced all detectors in home with these. The primary user will be able to see all detectors listed so if you have more than one listed, you will need to name them so you would know which one is which.

You can assign a location (living room, master bedroom, etc. ) and name for each detector. I have not had any of them to sound off yet. It is supposed to be “smart” enough to detect “normal” smoke from cooking.

I have yet to verify that. There are varies types, some be mindful of which one you are getting. Not all types with Ring. Additionally, the detectors are not interconnected. If one rings, you will not here an announcement of which one is sounding off.

However, you should be able to determine which one via the ring app/notification. These detectors do run by batteries, so you need to be mindful of that. You should be able to see the battery efficiency in the Ring app.

They are reasonable priced. They may be a bit cheaper on Amazon. Best Buy is supposed to price match. I tried that but since the “model number” was not the same, my store would not honor it. I did purchase one from Best Buy.

I would commend to others as it adds another level of home safety.

Really great price. Exactly what is listed. In perfect condition. a great replacement or addition to your compatible home security system. At this price, it made more sense to use these to replace my old smoke detectors instead of a non-monitored version.

A little tricky to program in the system yourself, but that’s not unique to these devices. My older panel requires tricky programming to attach ANY device. Just know that you’ll have to figure it out yourself, or ask for assitance from your monitoring company (mine’s Vivint).

Very disappointed with these items. They were all expired and in poor condition, corroded battery terminals and yellow housings and dirty.

Works as described. Auto detected by the GC3 panel. Setup was a breeze along with all of the other 2 Gig products I have used. I have already recommended to my clients.

The reason I purchased this smoke alarm is that I was cooking early one morning and something swelled over the edge of pan and burnt in the bottom of the oven before I realized. I set off every smoke alarm in the house! (Picture dogs barking, me opening windows/doors, and scraping out the bottom of the oven, finally taking down smoke alarms to shut them up.

) My husband, who wears hearing aids (that he takes out at night) also uses a CPAP. He never even woke up. One of the alarms was right above his head. The strobe light on this thing is very bright. It has a piercing alarm, and pulses on and off.

I bought this unit because my GF is deaf without her hearing devices. It terrified me that she would actually sleep through the standard smoke detectors that are installed in my home. No longer a concern!! It would be hard to imagine that a person could sleep through the strobe flashing.

Looks to be a great product!!.

This is a gift for my mother in law who is profoundly hard of hearing. Not only is the alarm loud enough for her to hear without hearing aids, the strobe light is an extra safety precaution.

We bought these to replace our aging Arlo Pro cameras. Given the price, and the build quality, and the brand name – we just assumed they would be good. These cameras are useless – motion detection is unreliable at best, non-existant at worse.

During the day, we have had unwanted people come to our house and the motion detection has gotten 2 seconds of them LEAVING the premises, but not entering, or while they were here. At night time, when we have had our car broken into – we had THREE camerass pointing directly at the car and not ONE SINGLE motion alert and thus not a single video recording of it happening.

You can get 24/7 video recording to make up for this, but there is no way to easily go to different times in the recording and oh. you need to pay for a subscription. AND you have to have it wired in.

defeating the point of it being a wireless cam. Biggest waste of money ever. Do not buy. Will be getting a refund on this trash product.

Things I wish I knew beforehand. You can only access footage from 3hrs ago, after it’s 3hrs old it is instantly deleted. Unless you sign up for a subscription. The cameras even when set to the highest sensitivity don’t always activate and record.

I’ve been told unless it’s constantly plugged in that this is common and they can be quite glitchy. The battery life isn’t ideal either so the novelty of being ‘wireless’ wears off quickly. The mobile app used to control the cameras is also very slow and very ugly.

Definitely not what I expected for the brand and the price.

Pros: Although the camera does work, it does not work with the existing Nest ecosystem. The only way to use it is with the Google Home app. The only reason to buy a “Nest” cam over any other cheaper alternative with the same feature set is because of the Nest ecosystem.

If you need a good quality camera with the rich feature set expected at this price point then look elsewhere. Cons: make it work with the existing nest ecosystem.
