20 Best Hex Bit Socket Set (2023 Updated)

Great for a hard to remove Allen head. It isn’t a complete set but has the ones that are most commonly used. I bought mine and this second one i’m buying for my dad. He his a big craftsman guy and already has a standard set.

It is rare to find something he doesn’t have!.

Great assortment of sizes! I don’t even bother with allen hex keys anymore – these are so much more useful! I find my fellow techs stealing my set, cause they don’t want to deal with allen hex keys themselves! Even with the occasion impact use – don’t try this at home – they don’t blink.

These are my primary hex fastener tools now!.

Seems to be quality. Spent a little more than I would have on a cheaper set so hopefully they will last longer. Beware the last two hex heads are larger than any shade tree mechanic will use and will probably just be extra weight in my tool box.

great hex socket set by gearwrench. quality is pretty solid only gripe I can see for some is that it’s not made in USA ! its made in Taiwan with USA materials so it says on the box so i don’t know what to think of it.

lifetime warranty so can’t complain too much.

I don’t often have need for these size hex sockets. But when I need them they’re fantastic and work great. For long-term sustained usage, I might suggest getting impact grade hex sockets. these have shown enough wear even with occasional use that I think they would not stand up to long-term and or heavy usage.

I bought a set. I only needed one of them. Value is in the set.

Used on a BMW E46 rear differential drain plugs (14mm). Clearance between the drain plug and sway bar is tight and this stubby with a medium extension was perfect. I think even with a larger sway bar this would still work.

I work a lot with equipment that uses hex socket cap screws, and sometimes an Allen wrench or T-Handle just isn’t what I need. When I was offered to review these I jumped at the chance. I like that the sizes are marked in red (for standard) and the rail is also red, and beefy in comparison to other brands.

It doesn’t feel cheap. The sizes are also stamped deeply into the socket in the event the ink is worn from use. The hand feel continues into the sockets themselves. When I was using the tools they didn’t feel like they would break.

The fit in the screws were perfect and it didn’t feel like they would strip out the heads. Overall it’s a great set, and the metric would come in handy for me. If I had to think of a complaint, for me, I routinely use all sizes from 3/32 through 3/8, so the smaller sizes would be useful.

I recently received my extra long SAE hex bits, and was very impressed with their length. I compared them to others that I own and they are a good bit longer which allows for easier access to recessed bolts.

My only complaint is that the writing on them is in red ink which makes for a difficult tome reading the size against the chrome base. Overall they are fantastic and if the ink color is the only problem I find, that should speak volumes from a senior mechanic of over 25+ years.

This product is great! It is a six piece long hex set bit socket set. Makes working in those hard-to-reach places much easier. Each socket is well labeled and with the lifetime warranty I am confident using this product.

The chrome sockets are always great Because it reduces the chance of rust. I would definitely recommend the Sunex six piece long hex bit socket set to anyone including friends and family!!!.

I’ve never been a Harbor Freight fan my whole life. That started at the age of 16 when my dad’s toolbox had HF sockets in it and the first one I used broke first thing, not impressed. (1993) Next run all over town to get it warrantied, figured out the nearest store was 1200 miles one-way.

It took another 2. 5 years before I visited California for the first time and then got the socket warrantied, no hassles at all, just an even trade. Still not impressed. (1995) Fast forward to 2020 we finally have a HF that is less than 250 miles round trip from our town.

I find myself there almost every weekend, sometimes even during lunch. I’m not even warranting tools when I visit. I go mostly to review the inventory, see how the store works, and most of all the people are the best there.

I like that they are in town, and I can get stuff warrantied if needed. I can’t believe they sell some of the same name brand tools that our local Napa has and at a deep discount. So yeah these allan head sockets have worked great for us so far, not broken yet.

But hey HF is local now, so they are the new Sears store for our town. I can’t say enough good things about them. Thank you for coming to our town.

Works, and has a good grip and tight fit in the fastener. Nice finish. Using these on a motorcycle, so I don’t need a ton of torque. Needed that 14mm for my front axle, and this set cost me what it would have for the one bit elsewhere.

And honestly, I don’t see any difference between it and other brands available. Actually the smaller ones feel like they fit tighter with less slop than another more expensive kit I already have and use extensively.

I needed to do a differential fluid service on my BMW and it requires a 14mm hex socket. Rather than order just the one I needed from somewhere else and probably pay even more by the time it was shipped I decided to have a nice ride to a nearby Harbor Freight and get this whole set for less.

If that single 14mmm tool gets the job done it will have been well worth the trip and the money. I expect they will come on handy here and there and have usually gotten good service out of Pittsburgh hand tools.

I honestly wasn’t expecting much for these sockets in terms of quality, considering I was buying them off eBay, they were a low price, and they were from a manufacturer I’ve never heard of. Boy was I blown away.

These are one of those rare gem buys that you get every now and then off eBay. From the minute I opened the package and saw the case and slip-on label, I could tell they were gonna be a surprise. These hard case is fantastic.

It’s built very well, all of the sockets fit in perfectly, don’t slip out of their spots, and don’t need a pry bar to pry them out of the plastic. The case latch is nice and thick,so it wont break the first time you snag in on something, and is hinged so you don’t have to worry about the plastic bending so much, getting weak/thin and breaking.

The sockets themselves are on par with all of my other Cornwell/snap-on gear. Well built, stamped sizes, and no imperfections whatsoever. If you’re working on a German vehicle and need these triple-square sockets, don’t hesitate to buy these.

I will be buying Capri tools more often from now on. Highly recommended.

Quality tool, fits and works the way it should. The Storage case is equally well made, and unique enough so as to keep it from getting lixed up with ither tools.

they are quality build and finish. i used them on an Audi a4 taking the head off, they performed well. Capri is made in Taiwan, i always trust Capri tools

I got these for bed assembly project and quickly hoped they’d be useful in the shop down the road. I don’t suspect I will always need this sort of torque for most hex uses, but when you do, you REALLY DO! This set is nice looking and feel built to last.

The markings are on the small side but are clear and useful when you’re rolling around under something. These are not the first impact accessories that I got, but I can see already that adding these to the mix unlocks even more uses for my cordless and I will absolutely go get the rest of the sizes to round out the set.

These are a solid addition to my existing toolbox and I can’t wait to see what else they come in handy for.

It’s hard enough to find hex head sockets this big that fit a 1/2 inch drive. Usually when you do find some that are impact rated. They will ruin the bolt because they are soft. But not these. They have a impact base but the hex head is still hard to prevent that.

Which does raise the possibility of breaking them. But at least you won’t ruin it or your bolt on the first use. And they do seem to have recoverable or replaceable heads. Looks like they are held in with a set screw.

So far, so good! I needed a 8mm Allen socket. It seem smarter to get it in a full set than one a la carte. They seem very well made and durable. They work very well too, and are impact rated to boot.

They handled everything I threw at them the past month with a impact gun. The bits themselves seem to be holding up well, no noticeable wear on the hex part itself. I’ve always trusted Crescent products to be reliable and have a great warranty.

The sockets have a nice chrome finish and the crescent logo gives it a professional look. Usually, the hex bits when I use on my applications worn out sooner than I anticipated after 4 weeks of the purchase date.

I use them A LOT in tight spaces so sometimes the hex bit is slightly at an angle. However, these crescent bits resist longer from wearing out such as slight twists from metal fatigue and striping from the 6 sides.

In case if anybody is wondering, I do not use these sockets on an impact. I strictly use a breaker bar. These sockets can hold up. My complaint on these sockets is crescent should do a better job with the packaging such as the rail it comes with.

The rail doesn’t secure the sockets. The moment you toss these in your tool bag, they will scatter. I feel that they can at least instead do a mini box since it’s a 7 piece set.

This tool could not have been more useful to me at the perfect time! My daughter is at the age where she was ready for her own bike with training wheels. We finally got one delivered after a long wait and it required putting every single piece together using mostly Hex Bits – of various sizes.

I am handle with a socket and being able to simply utilize this set of common sizes with my existing socket was incredibly efficient and easy. I found the set to be really durable, clearly etched and distinguishable and most of all, they sat nice and tight in the socket without any wobble.

They got the job done and I couldn’t be happier. same could be said for my daughter!.

I received this product for free as part of a promotion in return for a review. This set seems to be of good quality; however I think the price is a bit steep for the amount of sockets included. That being said, all of the sockets mentioned in the product description were included.

There are no sharp edges or quality issues with the set. The packaging is fine, but I can’t say much more than that since all my sockets go into their own organizer in my tool chest drawer. They all work well, I’m not worried about any of them breaking.

I’ve yet to be unhappy with a GearWrench tool. I think they offer a great product at a good price. It took many years to “settle” for less than Snap On and Mac tools, but products like this remind me of how silly it is to be brainwashed into thinking the big boys are the only quality offerings.

These are great for working on my car, around the engine. Every time I use them I feel like I’m spoiled. Even the “rack” is good quality and works great.

I was changing the front cv axel on my car. We got the axel off all fine and dandy but getting it back in is where we fell short. we couldn’t get the knuckle to swing enough out away to be able to push the axel though the rotor.

So we had to take the ball joint off of the A-frame member. I used the hex but metric socket set and it was perfect once I set my ratchet on lock. They set down in the recessed hex bolt to hold the ball joint in place while to put the axel on.

They worked great!.

I’ve had a couple weeks to use these now and all I can say is they are some of the best hex bits I’ve owned, most of the fasteners i use at work are hex keyed, specifically 6mm and 8mm, the same problem keeps popping up and that’s that they tend to get rounded off and start slipping.

These fit snug and haven’t rounded off in the slightest, my only complaint is I wish they were slightly longer even just by a centimeter or so. They are definitely some of the shorter bits I’ve used but can’t complain if they hold up as they’ve been doing so far.

Gear Wrench tools are not the cheapest, but they are excellent quality, hard chrome finish, and will last longer than you will! Great brand of tools.

I needed some longer reaching allens and of course my first visit was to HF. They offered these at a very reasonable price. I used them to loosen some very stubborn bolts. The fit was tight and firm, non of the wrenches rounded under pressure.

These are not ball end wrenches so a straight on approach is necessary for them to work. But, work they will. I use them on a batt operated driver with the HF adaptor to 3/8″ extension. Saves a lot of time from using a ratchet back and forth.

A couple of the bolts required a lot more torque than my gun was able to supply. I used a ratchet, cheater bar and wrench around the shaft. I really thought I was going to see some failure but not here.

The wrenches worked just as well as the MUCH more expensive ones. They’ll stay in my roll-around.

working on super car build and there were just a few times when these were needed, however, combined with a wobble extension what would have been a long crap repair was made into an easy one. I have used them number of times and they fit the fasteners tight enough so no problem using a torque wrench.

GearWrench 7-piece ½” drive metric allen socket set My Ducati required a 14mm allen socket to remove the oil pickup screen, and I had been looking around the Internet for the best price. It was more economical to buy this ½” drive set than to buy an individual allen socket.

I’ve been using Sears’ Evo allen (SAE and metric) and Torx socket sets without any problems, and they were all well made at low prices. The GearWrench brand produces high quality products, and were one of the first to market box-ended wrenches that also ratcheted.

I purchased a 17mm Gearwrench about 10 years ago to install HD Bilstein shocks on the rear of my Crown Vic (which used a weird shock mounting location that was impossible to access with traditional tools), and this same wrench worked beautifully when I installed HD Bilsteins on the rear of my Mustang.

The quality is top notch and on-par with Snap On and other brands. This metric allen socket set includes some redundant sockets found in 3/8″ drive sets, but the extra 12, 14, 17, and 19mm sockets will come in handy some day.

The quality is very good, each bit is made of very touch material and the plastic rack is easy to use. I opted not to keep it on the wall because I fear that the plastic rack might crack at the mounting hole, so I keep it in my tool box.

I used the 10mm and 14mm for changing the oil in my Ducati 696, and the bits were precisely made and fit the plugs perfectly. With the metrification of automotive and motorcycle fasteners, it would be a great idea to pick up one of these sets.

The first time I encountered an allen bolt on a car was a Chevy Cobalt, and that was when I started to stock up on these allen sockets. Almost 95% of the Ducati’s fasteners are allen screws, with very few hex nuts and bolts on the outside.

Good set of bits. I like that the included holder has a spring loaded ball detent (just like your ratchet) to keep the bits in place.

I think the gearwrench brand is a great value when compared to the ooptions around. I have access to several tool trucks, but just cant bring myself to spend that kind of $$$. Let’s face it, certain tools off the trucks are great and you have a great warranty, but if you do not abuse your tools, you can take the extra time to save some $$ by buying at stores or online.

My toolbox at work is full of Matco, Snap-On, Mac, husky, and gearwrench as well as others. gearwrench stuff is right at the top for quality.

Finding the right tool at the right is important to me. Walked in Auto Zone and found just the right tool for my need at the time. Saved me from knuckle busting, and bleeding. A great addition to my tool cabinet.

Good quality, but I have one minor complaint. The holder is blue, which is usually reserved for metric bits. These are SAE standard bits, which are usually associated with red color.

I needed to buy these to get into a tight space for some hex bit headed screws that didn’t have enough space for a traditional allen wrench. Worked great with the wratchet!
