20 Best Helmets For E Bikes (2023 Updated)

I have purchased many items from Baltic born in the past and typically love my purchases. I wanted to love this, however, the quality was very poor. It was thin and cheap material that was completely see through.

I will be returning.

I commute 50km a day rain or shine and having the visor and integrated rain cover has been great. Breathability is excellent so far although I haven’t ent had it out on a hot summer day yet. Only thing it’s missing is a mips rational technology and maybe a small integrated front top light to give more visibility.

Visor sure beats wearing cycling glasses especially in the rain. Shipping and delivery to Canada was quick considering it came from overseas. Duty was reasonable.

This dress is quite cute but the thinness of the material makes it unsuitable to undergarments. I will be returning and trying a different dress.

I purchased this helmet last December after reading a review at MTBR. The Helmet is light, its unique magnetic system for setting up and alignment of the chin bar piece makes it quite easy to lock in place.

The Helmet is airy with great visuals with a full face on, and I can already say it provides excellent protection. On a fall after a ramp jump, a twisted landing, the helmet took most of the force of impact away without leaving any marks on me or pain, or later any sign of injury afterward.

The fit is tight but comfortable. The only drawback, is I wanted another color, but now is hard to get lost with this bright red. You can find cheaper options, but as a dual helmet it fits the bill to perfection.

This is my second attempt to buy a Met parachute mcr helmet. I am exactly between the sizes M and L, the M was tight on my temples. But this L is great. Although the boa wheel is a bit tight, the helmet fits.

In the half-shell position, it is a little unstable and floats on the head, as a full-face it fits perfectly. I have to pick up the boa system and the magnetic buckle. I’m still getting used to the MCR system.

We will see how it will sit with sunglasses as well as DH glasses.

Im 59cm which should be large. I purchased a medium and large to try. The large fit the best around the head but the chin guard was so close to my face I didn’t feel safe. I had a thumbs distance between my chin and chin bar.

I thought my nose would take the impact before the chin guard. Helmet looks good and felt comfy but didn’t feel safe. Returned helmets.

My first impressions of this helmet is of its appearance. It is sleekly designed through tue entire helmet’s overall silhouette, and the color options offered compliment my Vanmoof perfectly in every way.

My second is of Thousand itself. Simply reading through what this company is about actually gave their gear an even more appealing product to want to wear. Do I wish Thousand would include the rest of the amor pieces like chainmail, a plated chest piece, and a shield? Yes.

But a helmet is a good start all things considered. Third, using its functionalities like, the helmet’s pop lock feature, adjustable straps, and the rear light make it such a better choice amongst all of the other competitors.

And magnets are surely becoming a futuristic form of connection, yet has always been around. So this helmet may very well grab from the retro vibe, but its features are ancient. I love how the light is an optional attachment, because sometimes I feel as though every product I own is riddled with technology.

If my electric bicycle was simply and only just that it would be rendered immobile. The light on this helmet is for safety purposes, of course. But sometimes lights can actually draw more, undesired attention to oneself.

Fourth, after having used this helmet I can, safely, say that I now do helmets! And the complimentary bag that Thousand includes may seem like an unnecessary addition, but the bag itself encourages the consumer to unconsciously take good care of one’s ownership.

And, that nice things do come with nice stuff. Finally, the helmet does take some time to feel rightly adjusted. One may have to tweak its fit in between rides at times, but that’s if one’s rides are wildly or the wind is being absurd or because that’s the nature of one’s hairstyle.

I do hope Thousand has the ambition to make their helmet more environmentally friendly. It’s an impossible endeavor, but if I trusted any helmet company it would be them to drive for less synthetics and more natural materials and uses.

Not all of my thoughts are included here, but hopefully this review will serve as a different point of view from the rest. And all that truly matters is one’s own, personal journey with the things they love.

Awesome light weight helmet that is well ventilated and structurally sound. A great helmet that fits well and doesn’t make your head look 10 sizes to big. All round good helmet at a great price.

It fits a little tight. Maybe I need an extra large. Other than that seems like a great helmet for my first full face helmet. Lots of cushion built in.

Purchased for my 7 year old. Looks and feels like a nice quality helmet. Durability is yet to be determined.

I purchased this helmet for my commute in the city to and from work. It’s about 10 miles each way. Some segments of the route don’t have bike protected lanes and I have to ride with traffic. This helmet helps to provide indicators when I need to change lanes, the lights are exceptionally bright and I feel protected.

Two days after my purchase I was in an accident where I hit a curb in the rain on my E-Bike going about 20 miles per hr. Given the way I came to the ground, I tucked my head to not hit face down on the concrete.

The helmet took all the impact but did slip forward and crack my nose! Ouch. My fault not the helmets. The hit on the helmet was so hard I got a slight concussion and major damage to my knees. But the helmet stood up to the test.

I’m so please with my purchase. Glad I invested in this helmet. I also really like that it syncs with my Apple Watch, has the Lumos app and the back up physical buttons I can mount to my bike. All around a well thought through product.

I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants the protection, lighting and necessary features.

I live in downtown Toronto where it seems that no matter how many lights are on you or you bike motorists are not very likely to see you. This helmet is exactly what I was looking for — both to prevent damage in case of an accident and minimize my chances of getting into an accident in the first place.

The companion app works great, at least on Android. I manged to apply a firmware update, pair my L|R signal buttons, and get going in no time at all. As I switch bewteen bikes fairly regularly I’m looking to mount the signal button pad to some Velcro instead of directly to the bike so that I can avoid having to uninstall and reinstall it.

I think this is easily do-able given the button pad attaches only with O-Rings and not screws on a hard bracket. One thing to note: The charging cable is NOT a standard USB cable. It’s a proprietary POGO pin design.

You will need to add this cable to your every-day-carry bag or buy a spare to leave at home and one to take with you.

This is the most expensive helmet I’ve ever bought. However it is very comfortable. It is well-made, and the built-in front and rear LED lights and indicators make drivers sit up and notice me. The indicators are triggered by a robust and easy-to-use switch on the handlebars – the connection is Bluetooth.

The helmet and switch batteries are charged from a USB cable with a magnetic stud connector which works very well. I hope I will never need to test the helmet’s impact performance for real, but it feels very solid – despite this it is not much heavier than a regular bike helmet.

This helmet looks very sleek and makes you visible in the dark from all sides, but note that the front light is not meant to be used as a torch that brightens up your path. The app is cool, but I customised the light patterns just once and have never used it again (which is a good thing, in my opinion).

Can’t tell how much protection it provides yet, other people might be better testimonies — and from the sound of the reviews so far, it seems promising.

The range of features and the style is incomparable. Total recommendation for the lumos ultra. Once paired to phone and the remote it is super variable and easy to use. A possibility to chose the type of remote control before buying both would be nice but that’s only an idea for the future.

Love this helmet! Had serious issues with drivers not seeing me, but now I feel much safer. The helmet is super light and comes with an app to change the blinking patterns if you want to. Bought for the winter days when it gets dark early.

Did not waste my money on this.

Bought this to use in Cyprus so main focus was on ventilation. First impressions are good but if the weather is hot then the weather is hot and not a lot a helmet can do about it. It is very light and well vented.

I compared this against the Kask Vertigo helmet and found it’s profile was better suited for my head. I also found it difficult to get the correct tension in the Kask straps. Both helmets do not have adjustable straps although there is an option to tweak the Abus to sit the straps in one of 3 positions.

They difference in each position is very small and not sure how much difference it made. Nor do you get the option of Mips or the equivalent if that’s important to you. Overall, a good looking helmet but a bit pricey for what you get.

I have received this helmet today, the white one. Tried it on, veeeery nice. Looks amazing, fits well, is lightweight. Moments after putting it on, the spirit of Abuelito El Bala Valverde appeared and summoned me to go on a ride to test it out properly.

I had to oblige. The moment I got on the bike I felt different, much more powerful than before. I instantly went straight to my local 15% slope which I crested at 45km/h, taking 17 KOMs in the process.

Rainbow bands also appeared on the ends of my sleeves, which was a bit embarrassing, so I went straight home after that. I’m not saying this will happen to anyone who purchases this helmet, but you too could be visited by the spirit of El Bala so I’d say that alone is worth a shot.

Bought this to see if ventilation and inner design was up to preventing sweat dripping in my eyes and onto sunglasses. After several rides including a few warm days it appears to be doing the trick. No problems as yet which is night and day difference to Kask Mojito I had before.

Ventilation is excellent, inner cradle floats off your head leaving room to allow sweat to evaporate. As regards aero quality I have no idea but it’s quiet and fits me well. The straps as others have said are thinner than other brands but soon forgotten once it’s on your head.

It’s light too. Medium fits well and similar to a M mojito. Highly recommended.

Purchased this helmet after riding TLD A2 Mips Med/Lg, as well as the Fox Proframe in large for the past couple years. The TLD was snug in Med/Lg, and the XL was way too big. The Fox fit was much better, but the helmet sat low & rattled against my Oakley glasses.

The 100% Altec is exactly in the middle of these, perfect fit & perfect form, works great with all of my riding glasses, and the design is fire! 5 Stars!.

100% invented their own MIPS-replacement with rubber pins that hold the lining. Even when trying the helmet on for 5 minutes at home, several of those pins were pushing onto my scalp and leaving red marks.

I have read reviews that say it’s reasonably comfortable, so it must be a personal thing, but I don’t like it. My old helmet is a TLD A1 MIPS, which is very comfortable, though quite warm. The 100% does appear to be very well ventilated.

Really find this helmet a comfortable fit. Measuring guide very helpful, you don’t know you are wearing it. Easy fasten. Plus it looks good.Josie

Completely happy with my purchase. Did some research and this is exactly what I needed for my E-Bike. Helmet is quite comfortabe and secure. Price was decent and it arrived quickly.

Perfect helmet, comfort and build-quality are outstanding

I bought this helmet two weeks ago online and have worn it three times disappointingly without success. The issue is the weight, it is twice the weight of my old helmet, within 20 minutes of wearing it I had a headache, I persisted with longer use each time but wth the same result.

Removing the helmet gave immediate relief. I was careful to follow the measuring guidelines for sizing, it is definitely the added weight which is an issue. I was unable to try this on in the store as was told was only availble online, I really think helmets need to be tried on before purchasing.

Aside from this problem it is a great product!.

Before connecting a device the voice prompt “power on” is quite loud… so you would expect that to be max volume, false! You can hear a faint high hat at full volume while stationary and absolutely nothing but natures wind while riding! Not worth the price.

The signaling lights work great so worth the two stars but you are better off with a RAZOR big 5 helmet than this.

Bought this two weeks ago and took a little while to set up properly but oozed quality from the moment I opened the box. Phone notifications come through the speakers very well (e. g Garmin Varia alerts) Not brilliant quality for music but does the job.

Indicators, brake light and auto lights in darkness a perfect. Alert if you leave your phone behind (more than 5 mtrs away) is also a nice touch. Overall a well fitting helmet that gets some looks when out on the road, great features and what’s not to like.

With its intuitive turn signals, easy to use customizable smartphone app, solid design, I’m happy to say that my switch from a Specialized helmet to this Lumos came with only upsides. The added touch of the sudden breaking lights is what makes this helmet the best pick for seasoned bikers and daily computers alike.

This helmet is really light and comfortable for long wear. It comes only in one size, but it should fit most head shapes. The set up is super easy. The app and the remote control connect with the helmet in seconds.

The lights are really bright for nighttime use and even daytime use. It is a bit pricey compared to other helmets, but it is worth the price for all of the features and functionalities.

I’m pretty happy with it so far. Magnetic clasps are nice and convenient. One of those things I didn’t know I needed. It’s not super ventilated but hasn’t made my head sweaty either. Visor stays in securely and is just large enough to shade from the sun and reduce wind into my eyes without obscuring my vision.

Seeing older reviews about the visors falling out, nutcase must have updated the design with the mips helmets as once it’s snapped in it’s staying in. In order for wind to even have a chance to do so I’d have to be travelling at highway speeds.

If I were regularly removing and reattaching it I’d expect the attachment joints to eventually stress and break though. So I would consider the visor to be just removable enough to let you figure out which way you like it then stick with it.

It is heavy for a bike helmet and that’s definitely noticed when making relatively quick head movements like shoulder checks. The mips system makes it a little slidey even when on tight which increases that feeling of heaviness.

But it’s a comfortable fit otherwise so I eventually adjusted and got used to it. Even on long rides it’s fine. I still notice the weight when checking my shoulder but that’s it, really. I got it because the color looked to be a close match to my bike’s online and indeed is IRL.

It def gets more attention than if I were to have just gotten a “normal” sporty one and that could be a plus or minus depending on the person I guess. Weirdly enough a low yet still nonzero amount of people seem to think I’m repurposing a medical helmet though.

Which I didn’t expect, lol. I uh, don’t think a seizure helmet would have the word “nutcase” on the front in reflective lettering.

I have a perfectly fine – in terms of functionality – helmet now. It’s black, has all these vents, ultralight, Mips protection, etc BUT I wanted a helmet that looked a tad less “dorky” :-). PROS -it sits up very high on the head but accomplishes objective #1 – the helmet actually looks decent.

I remember I never felt dorky wearing a helmet when riding horses and this accomplishes the same. -good fit: this is the most imp’t w/any helmet. If it doesn’t fit, you’re always going to be fidgeting w/the straps, adjusting the helmet, etc.

and hate it every time. This one fits my head perfectly. -magenetic buckle: pure genius -straps: every easy to adjust (easily than many others) -color: I ordered something different from the standard black – dirty martini – wonderful color/without looking like you’re a member of the army Notes -wish they included extra cushion pads: the helmet works for me but I can see that for some others they may wish for a few extra cushions -heavy: this helmet is heavy; like 4 times heavier than my current dorky but great helmet (that one I can’t feel the weight at all but it doesn’t fit as well).

However because the helmet fits so well, doesn’t shift around, it’s fine but if you don’t have a good fit, the weight is going to be a factor.

I bought this for my husband because we heard they work with people who wear hearing devices. My husband has a cochlear on each side of his head. When he tried the regular helmets the cochlear would fall off because the helmet fit him right.

This made him not to want to wear a helmet at all. So when we found out this helmet was highly recommended for that people who wear hearing devices I checked them out right away. The gal I talked to on the phone was so helpful and answered all my questions.

Needless to say my husband loves his new helmet. We followed the video on how to tighten the helmet to fit correctly. He said he has no. problems with his cochlear being loose. The helmet keeps the magnet snug to his head like it should be.

A fully-featured bike helmet thats offers the best protection (MIPS) at a great value, especially when worn in urban settings. Make sure you know your head size before ordering. The helmet is set to its smallest setting, so be prepared to adjust the head band and lower the rear plastic liner for the perfect fit.

Really good helmet, well ,good fit and comfortable. The rear light on back of helmet is particularly good for visibility. Because i wear specs and i dont have prescription cycle glasses i find the visor particularly useful so i can wear my own specs underneath and get face protection from bits of grit from passing vehicles flying at me and insects.

I bought 2 two mediums for different head sizes and both fit very well because of the adjuster at the back, the straps alter well to length of face so a medium will suit both male/female from a 58-60cm head.

The comfort from the MIPS is great, like cushioning. Although slightly bulkier than a normal mtb helmet, especially with the longer visor, it feels light, is not too hot and is the most comfortable helmet I have worn.

A bargain sale price made it a great purchase.

My 1st MTB helmet (always had road helmets previously for XC racing – but I’m too old for that carry on now 🙂 ) This helmet looks the part if nothing else. Cameo shell with the hi-viz yellow is a head turner.

Was toying with the thought of going for a Medium as my head measurement was only 0. 5 cm bigger than the size stated (56 – 58), but went for Large. It does seem bulky (compared to my previous XC helmet), but it is an MTB helmet after all.

Comfortable and light and will just take a bit of getting used to. Find another MIPS helmet with this style and comfort for under £70. no. you wont. Top buy.

Had a few rides now and it is a well made helmet. Fit’s my round skull well, is reasonably light weight and the fit adjuster works well. A light attachment for night riding fits well to the top and beneath the MIPS system.

I like that the helmet is lightweight and well ventilated. The MIPS system is great if you ride with the potential of having hard crashes. However, it is more than the average recreational rider needs.

I found it strange that the padding does not go around the back of the helmet. I guess people aren’t supposed to hit the back of their head when they crash? Also, the ANGi System seems like it’s only useful if you ride alone.

I find this helmet to be over-engineered and have features that I don’t need… All at a very expensive price.

It’s light, well vented, fits great, and SWEAT POURS ONTO MY FACE. There is something different about this helmet’s padding. The padding sits lower on my forehead, right at my bushy eyebrows that cause sweat to drip continuously down my face at slow speeds.

I live in the Colorado front range, so rides start with steep, slow 45-60 minute climb. If the outside temp is above 60, get ready for the sweat faucet! Sweat in my eyes, sweat on my shades, sweat into my mouth.

sweat everywhere. I’ve happily worn various Specialized helmets for 14 years, promoting them to all my riding buddies as the lightest, most comfy, and best-ventilated helmets. This one has all those positive aspects but has me drowning in sweat.

This is the first time I dealt with Erik’s and they were great. The transaction went smoothly and the delivery was quite speedy. I bought this specific helmet due to its high safety ranking from Virginia Tech.

Unfortunately, Specialized can say what it wants about the ventilation, but it is certainly inadequate for summers in Texas. Further, the adjustment of the straps is extremely limited, making the fit around the ears quite disappointing.

This is quite maddening, as it is much more a function of poor, lazy design than an issue of cost management. Other than minimal buckle adjustment, the straps have zero adjustability. I have seen bargain-basement helmets with better designed straps.

I also found the helmet to feel heavier than the specified weight. On the bright side, it is a fairly good-looking lid. I would probably look very stylish while lying on the ground unconscious from heatstroke.

Nice fitting, with micro adjustment to make it fit snug. This helmet also is ANGi-ready, for those who want this emergency crash notification add-on. The venting is not visible, though it channels air over the scalp, helping keep you cool.

Lastly, the chin straps works very well to keep the helmet from moving around, while still being comfortable. I would buy this helmet again.

I was going to opt for a Met MILES MIPS HELMET but instead went for this model, it was more money but felt nicer on my head and in my opinion worth the extra cash. Doesn’t feel like your Mr Mushroom head when wearing this.

I was going to buy this online but this was in stock at Hampton so I went into the shop.

I was very disappointed that the helmet was made in China.

I chose this because it’s supposed to be very light and well ventilated, and it is. Apart from the peak being in your line of sight you’d barely know it was there. Unfortunately the fit and finish is pretty poor.

The velcro pads to hold the liner in appear to have been stuck on at random so the liner sags and doesn’t fit properly. The white finish is almost matte and although the lid itself wipes clean nicely the peak just seems to absorb mud and always looks grubby.

The peak on my one was wonky when it arrived and I couldn’t get it straight, no big deal but it points to poor QC. On the sixth ride with it the head band tensioner failed, undid itself and the helmet fell down over my face on a fast bit of trail.

I ended up in the bushes and that was my days riding over. I had a 661 before this and admittedly it was £20 more to buy but it was twice the product. After five years of use including a crash which wrote it off it still looked better and fitted better than this nearly new Endura.

Buying a helmet on-line is a bit tricky, but I’ve bought enough helmets over the years that I know what size i am. This helmet turned up well packaged and looked just like it did on the site. The fit was good after playing about with the very adjustable retention system.

The mesh covering the vents on the inside at the front is a nice touch and stops the flys and bugs getting in (and never out!!!). Done a few 5+ hr rides in this and had no issues or head pains and the ventilation was good.

Great helmet, has a high quality finish, visor has a nice smooth snap between 3 different heights and the air vents keep your head nice and cool. Glasses fit nicely without getting jammed between the helmet any your temples.

My only complaints are that the straps sit over my ears rather than either side which is a little annoying but could just be the way it fits my head. Theres also no camera/light mount included with the helmet but you can buy one separately fairly cheap.

I have put over 7,000 mi on my Pike IPX. A combination of trail riding, training and (in some cases) Enduro racing. This helmet is one of the most comfortable trail helmets I have ever worn. I love the coverage, Fidlock chinstrap clasp, ability to accommodate my goggles underneath the 3 position, adjustable visor and the comfort is next level.

The ability to adjust the fit harness allows it to fit even my odd shaped dome and zero pressure points when I have to cinch it down in the rough. I’m also stoked on the integrated, IPX rotational impact system.

Thankfully, I haven’t had to test it out but thankful it’s there in case!.

This is my first ONEAL enduro helmet, was curious of the IPX system. Once delivered (record speed) I was blown away but the comfort and overall quality of the helmet. The micro adjuster made it feel like it was made for my head.

Also the fidlock magnet closure is a game changer, never going back!.
